Matthew McConaughey pulled his car over and stopped a bunch of kids from setting a cat on fire in California. He saved the poor cat and gave the kids a verbal lashing:

As if being hot wasn’t enough, this is not the first time McConaughey has acted the hero. He scared off a coyote from a toddler last year, and once performed mouth-to-mouth resusitation on a woman who had fainted.

McConaughy’s two year relationship with Penelope Cruz may be in trouble. The two are said to have possibly split after spending a good deal of time apart.

Matthew McConaughey showed his support for girlfriend Penelope Cruz at the premiere of her new movie, Volver, in Madrid last night. We posted pictures from the film and a plot synopsis a few days ago.

McConaughey and Cruz looked very much the happy couple last night. Contrary to recent rumors, Cruz did not look pregnant.

Cruz recently revealed that she likes to dork it up on the dancefloor with her friend Salma Hayek:

We would all really like to see that.

Matthew McConaughey was inducted into the Texas Hall of Fame at a ceremony presented by the Austin Film Society on Friday. Other Texas natives honored included Kris Kristofferson, JoBeth Williams, Lyle Lovett, and Cybil Shepherd.

McConaughy’s film Failure to Launch also opened on Friday. The film has been panned by most critics, although some say that good comedic acting and a talented support cast make it worthwhile.

Matthew McConaughey was said to be wearing a gold band on his left ring finger in his Wednesday morning appearance on “Live with Regis and Kelly.” This comes after speculation that his girlfriend of a year, Penelope Cruz, is pregnant. McConaughey wore a ring on his right hand to the “Failure to Launch” premiere. Life and Style reported that McConaughy was sporting a wedding ring a week ago, but they used a horizontally flipped photo to prove it.

Salma Hayek showed up at the “Failure to Launch” after party in New York last night. She looks gorgeous as always. We just wish Penelope could have made it.

The “Failure to Launch” New York Premiere was held last night at the Clearview Chelsea West Theatre in New York City. Initial buzz on the film is unfortunately negative, but there is a scene in which Terry Bradshaw, who plays Matthew McConaughy’s father, bares his 57 year-old butt. We’ve already seen Kathy Bates semi-naked in “About Schmidt” and welcome the chance to see Bradshaw’s assets too.

If anyone gains a little weight or wears an unflattering dress in Hollywood, they’re pregnant.

Failure to Launch will be in theatres March 10. It really looks like it’s going to suck and the title could be prophetic, but I might watch it on DVD. The plot is genius. Here’s the synopsis from the official movie site (which I had to transcribe and can’t link properly because it’s all Flash – what poor usability):

Failure also features Kathy Bates, Terry Bradshaw, and Bradley Cooper.

Update: Matt didn’t have much to say when asked about his co-star SJP, and it’s easy to infer from his comments that he didn’t get along with her. Sarah blew off the suggestion that there were any problems on set.
