Men think Megan Fox is over-exposed, call for one-day media blackout

Megan Fox
It seems men may be a little fed up with Megan Fox. According to Gatecrasher, several men’s websites are calling for a “Megan Fox Media Blackout Day” because the men running or operating the sites feel she’s too overexposed. Gee, I wonder at point they realized that? After her seventh magazine cover, all to promote one movie? To give some acknowledgment to Megan, these guys are giving her credit for increased traffic and for being a huge draw at all times. I’ve noticed that on Celebitchy too – but usually the attention is negative, because Megan has said something dumb in one of the cover interviews. Men don’t notice what Megan says – they’re too busy ogling pictures of her. But that is going to come to end for one day – at least – so that these men can find and over-expose some other young starlet:

It may seem unlikely, but the men of America are sick of Megan Fox.

A dozen male-focused Web sites including AOL’s men’s lifestyle/humor site Asylum.com — as well as Ask Men, Just a Guy Thing and Double Viking — have sanctioned Aug. 4 as a Megan Fox media blackout day.

Why the diss? All the editors feel the starlet has become a bit too overexposed — and they’re not just talking about her fashion sense. Fox has appeared on the covers of Esquire, Empire, Maxim, GQ UK, Entertainment Weekly and Elle this year alone, plus she did heavy press for her role as Mikaela Banes in “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.”

“You can have too much of a good thing,” says AskMen.com’s Editor-in-Chief James Bassil, who tells us, “We’re joining in the media blackout and giving our readers a one-day reprieve from the woman we’ve been drowning in all summer.”

Jokes Doug Sheckler of on205th.com: “She needs to do more to earn our undying praise and affection. For instance, she hasn’t even returned any of my calls this year asking for a date. What’s up with that?”

All kidding aside, most of the men do admit to still lusting after the actress, but are ready for Fox to pass the hot torch on to their other celebrity crushes. “Listen, we love Megan. She’s responsible for driving more eyeballs to our sites — just by getting photographed walking down the street in a white T-shirt — than any other celeb alive,” says Eric Rogell of TheBachelorGuy.com. But while he professes his love for the raven-haired beauty, he says he’s ready for more diverse eye candy.

“It’s time to give another young actress a shot at the attention,” he says. “We’re taking a one-day break from covering Megan’s latest nail polish color and instead promoting another ‘Next Big Thing.’”

So who is Fox’s likely replacement? “My vote is for ["The Unborn" actress] Odette Yustman,” says Rogell. “I call her ‘The Poor Man’s Megan Fox.’”

[From Gatecrasher]

Personally, I’ve never gotten the general appeal of Megan Fox. Any attractiveness I could give her credit for is ruined when she opens her mouth. But I understand why men (specifically, young men) find her sexy. She always got her mouth open, tongue exposed, staring at the camera with a “f-ck me” look. It just seems… obvious. And like there’s nothing else there. But I guess those boys will have to do without Megan for one whole day. Gasp! What will they do?

Emma Thompson agrees with Madonna: British men are ‘emotionally retarded’

emma thompson letterman show 181108

The always gracious, funny, amazing and talented Emma Thompson is adding some new jobs to her resume over the past few weeks. At the Golden Globes, she seemed like the head cheerleader, or den mother, to younger (mostly British) actresses. Now it appears she’s adding another title: Defender of Madonna. Thompson recently spoke out about Madonna’s immediate post-separation statement that Guy Ritchie was “emotionally retarded”.

Actress Emma Thompson felt a rapport with Madonna when the pop superstar publicly referred to her ex-husband Guy Ritchie as “emotionally retarded”, because she thinks the same of her spouse, actor Greg Wise.

The Oscar winner admits she was stunned to hear Madonna’s comments on stage during her Sticky + Sweet world tour last October (08) just days after her separation from director Ritchie was announced.

But Thompson confesses the singer did have a point about many British males. She says, “I felt very badly for British men when she said that. I thought, ‘Well, it’s not across the board, but it is true that an awful lot of them are a bit kind of closed down.’”

And Thompson insists the problem lies with bad parenting. She adds, “I blame the class system, which resulted in two centuries of the most appalling parenting you could possibly imagine, with children being sent away to school at a very young age, which is a very odd habit when you think about it…I know that my father was quite reserved with his emotions. And so is my husband, too. I’ve been with him for 14 years now, and it’s sort of like living with a clam. I try and try and try to open the shell, and, yes, after all these years, I have managed to get it very slightly open – and then, sometimes, it shuts again and I have to start all over again.”

“Don’t get me wrong, I’m fine with it, and very happily married. But it is the way it is.”

[From Contact Music]

You see, when she says it, it sounds great. But coming out Madonna’s mouth – well, let’s just say it didn’t seem this thoughtful or pleasant. It’s interesting to know that Greg Wise is a bit stuffy. That way, Emma gets to be the crazy-brilliant one. Awesome! But speaking of men who dated Emma Thompson, Hugh Laurie (“House”) recently gave an interview to Playboy. He talks about how much fun he and Thompson had when they used to date.

Hugh Laurie looks back on his romance with ex-girlfriend Emma Thompson with fond memories. Laurie was Thompson’s first boyfriend at university.

And the House actor – who has been married to wife Jo Green since 1989 – enjoyed dating the Love Actually actress before they both became famous.

He tells Playboy, “Those were blissful days, I must say. We couldn’t even imagine a life in Hollywood back then. Hollywood was as distant and impossible as El Dorado.

“It was all about fun. Watching Emma was like watching the sun or wind or some other elemental force. Her talent even then was inescapable.”

[From Showbiz Spy]

Sigh. That’s how I imagine British men – romantic and lovely, not “emotionally retarded”. I wonder why Emma and Hugh ever split up? They were probably very lovely together. I guess she has to make do with Willoughby.

Sarah Jessica Parker says shoes are better than men & sex

Sarah Jessica Parker has managed to keep a pretty low profile since rumors came out that her husband Matthew Broderick had cheated on her. The family has been vacationing in Ireland for the last few weeks, but that hasn’t kept little bits about her feelings on love from leaking out. According to NOW Magazine, Sarah said that shoes are better than sex and men. Which makes you wonder a bit about the current state of her marriage.

Sarah Jessica Parker says she’d choose shoes over a guy – because they’re more dependable than men.

Talking about her Sex And The City character Carrie, the 43-year-old actress says: ‘She could probably count on a Manolo more than a man. So is it better than sex? Yes!’ she says.

And she says she has no problem walking in towering stilettos.

‘I could run a marathon in heels and wake up the next day and run another one,’ she tells Fabulous.

[From NOW Magazine]

Fox News also reports that SJP did indeed have her famous mole removed, even though her reps have denied it. They claim she did it not for cosmetic or health reasons, but to distract the tabloids from her marital woes, and give them something else to talk about.

“Sex and the City” star Sarah Jessica Parker has been accused of mole removal to take the heat off her marriage problems. “She needed drastic action and the media focused on that in the end,” a source tells me.

[From Fox News]

The mole removal story came out around July 16th, and the rumors of Matthew Broderick’s affair came out July 23rd, exactly a week later. It’s possible SJP had the mole removed as a preventative distraction upon learning of the affair. Or maybe she thought mole removal would save her marriage? Some women try to lose weight, some get a boob job, maybe SJP thought this could be her thing.

Say what you will about the woman, she strikes me as pretty intelligent. I seriously doubt she sliced off her mole thinking it would keep the tabloids from caring that her husband was (possibly) cheating on her.

Alyssa Milano says she’s the girl guys never got over

spx-013210.jpg
I really wish Celebitchy were like Myspace, and we could have annoying music blare out at you when you opened an article. Since we don’t work that way, if you all could start humming the first few chirpy bars of the “Who’s the Boss?” theme song right now, that’d be great. Just hum until Tony drives his van up to Angela’s house and hugs her. [“There’s a time for love and a time for living. You take a chance and face the wind…”] Alright, we’re there. Did that bring you back? Good, because Alyssa Milano says all you men have been stuck there for the last twenty years or so. Well probably not stuck on Tony and Angela, though I don’t know how your preferences go, so I won’t judge. Man I can never get that damn song out of my head. ["There were times when I lost a dream or two. Found the trail, and at the end was you…”] No, according to Alyssa Milano, you’re all stuck on her. Well, according to Alyssa’s friend, but Alyssa felt the need to share it with “Us Weekly,” which means she must think it’s true.

Alyssa has declared to “Us Weekly” that she will no longer be dating athletes. She’s had a baseball obsession for years (ahem, wasn’t Tony Danza a former baseball player on “Who’s the Boss?” Creeeeeeepy!) and has dated them almost exclusively. She even has a line of baseball-themed clothes. I actually kind of like that, because when every other useless starlet is putting out ridiculous designer crap with their name on it, Alyssa Milano is putting out athletic clothes. So points for being different and doing your own thing. [“There’s a path you take and a path untaken - The choice is up to you my friend…”] But apparently she’s decided she’s taken the baseball love a bit too far, and is done dating men that tote around bats.

“Alyssa Milano is single, and says she’s done living out the fantasy of being a baseball player’s girlfriend. ‘I’d love to just find a good plumber or doctor,’ the 34-year-old actress tells Details in its November issue. ‘I’ve gotten such s— about my dating choices,’ she says. (Her last three boyfriends – Carl Pavano, Barry Zito, and Brad Penny – have all been Major League pitchers.) ‘Like, every single article … is about how I’m ‘the chick that dates athletes,’ and there’s an insane double standard going on.’

“Milano, a lifelong Dodgers fan who recently scored a post-season reporting gig, laments the fact that New York Yankees star Derek Jeter gets away with dating starlet after starlet on her blog on MLB.com. But given a recent conversation she had, it shouldn’t be too hard for her to score the man – baseball player or not – of her dreams: ‘My friend tells me, “Every time I mention you in front of guys, they all go nuts.” So he asked one of them, “What is it about her? Can you define it?” And the guy said, “She’s the girl we never got over.’”

[From Us Weekly]

Man I wish I had unchecked self-esteem like that. Yes I realize Alyssa wasn’t actually saying it about herself, but to pass it on is still pretty ballsy. So to speak. I just made a sports pun! I didn’t know I could do that. I think that means I’m an athlete now. Anyway, it’s probably a good idea for Alyssa to open up her mind a little. I used to have a rule that I was only attracted to brunettes – I have no idea why – and I probably missed out on some pretty great guys because of that. Now imagine if you whittled down your options to one small subset of men that played a certain sport for a living? That’s got to hurt. I mean it must help that she’s famous and beautiful, but you could still be missing out on the best guy in the world [“Nights are long but you’re on your way - to a brand new life around the bend!”]

Note by Celebitchy: Alyssa Milano is shown at the San Sebastian International Film Festival on 9/24/07. Thanks to PRPhotos.

And here’s the Who’s the Boss intro that JayBird wants to get stuck in our heads.
