Oh noes! Life & Style is reporting that Rumer Willis and Micah Alberti, her boyfriend of about two years have split. There were rumors floating around at one point that Rumer and Micah were engaged, but nothing really came of it – I think they were just dating, and they seemed to have a solid, non-famewhore kind of relationship. There would be paparazzi and red carpet photos of them every so often, but it wasn’t like they were posing or really pushing their relationship out into the spotlight constantly. Also, from Life & Style’s report, it kind of seems like Rumer got dumped:

Looks like Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher aren’t the only ones in the family with relationship issues. Life & Style can exclusively report that Demi’s oldest daughter, Rumer Willis, has suddenly split with her boyfriend of more than two years, Micah Alberti.

The reason for the split is unclear, but Rumer “is very upset,” an insider tells Life & Style. “She went to Las Vegas this past weekend with a few friends to try to cheer up and have fun, but she’s very sensitive about the breakup.”

In an attempt to lift her spirits, Rumer went out for a night of dancing with friends at local hot spot Tao.

“She spent a few minutes talking to Chord Overstreet, the new cast member on Glee,” says an eyewitness. “They just chatted a few minutes and went their separate ways.”

Says the insider, “Rumer is doing her best to move on.”

Yeah… it really sounds like Micah was the one to pull the plug. Poor Rumer. I’ve started wondering about her – even though she’s not the prettiest girl, or the most talented actress (by a long shot), I do think she probably has a good personality. She and Micah seemed tight, and hopefully she’ll mourn the relationship for a little while, and then find someone else.

UPDATE: People Magazine is now confirming the split. A source “close to the couple” (cough cough Rumer) says: “They decided it wasn’t working. They’re moving on.” Translation: He totally dumped her but she’s not crying about it, okay?!?

Regardless of how little I think of Rumer Willis’s looks, her talent or her attitude, I will give her credit for something – her boyfriend is hot. Although he’s been called “Rumer’s new boyfriend”, she’s been dating actor Micah Alberti for more than a year. He’s been on her arm for several of the premieres of Rumer’s B-lister movies, so unless they keep breaking up and getting back together, I feel pretty certain that they’ve probably been dating straight through since at least August of 2008. More than a year is a long time, and I’m talking Hollywood time and a long time for kids so young – Rumer is 21 years old, and Micah is 25. They’re practically married! So you would think that by now, Rumer would have gotten the approval of her dad, Bruce Willis. It doesn’t appear so, if this Gatecrasher report is true:

Bruce Willis typically plays a tough guy in his action films – and stays in character when it comes to meeting his daughter’s suitors.

The “Surrogates” star took on the role of Doubtful Yet Doting Dad at a Svedka fete for the flick on Saturday night. Papa Willis didn’t seem to think much of Rumer Willis’ new beau, Micah Alberti; in fact, he completely ignored his eldest daughter’s new flame.

“They stayed on separate sides of the party,” dishes our spy at the Highlands, a Hollywood boite. “Rumer and Micah were cuddling and PDA-ing everywhere, and Bruce kept well away from all that. He doesn’t seem to be offering up his approval just yet.”

But the canoodling didn’t go unnoticed by Willis. He kept a watchful eye on his daughter while chatting with his wife, Emma Heming; the film’s director, Jonathan Mostow, and co-star James Ginty.

Haha! I found this story cute – Bruce seems like a very protective dad, and I could see how, even if he accepts Micah as Rumer’s boyfriend, Bruce still wants to keep Micah on his toes. Bruce will bring the beat down if his little girl isn’t happy. One of my favorite jokes about overprotective fathers threatening their daughter’s boyfriend came from comedian Bill Engvall (who’s actually one of my favorites – what can I say, I live in the South). Bill’s joke is about meeting the guy who wants to take his daughter on a date: “I’m gonna pull the young man in tight next to me so only he and I can hear the conversation. I’m gonna whisper in his ear. I’m gonna say, “Boy, look at me. You see that little girl there? That’s my only little girl. She’s my life. So if you have any thought about hugging or kissing, you remember these words: I got no problem going back to prison.” I could totally see Bruce saying that, couldn’t you?
