Personally, I’ve done a complete 180-degree turn on Liam Hemsworth and Miley Cyrus. When they first got together in 2009 (while filming The Last Song), I thought Liam was a glorified hunk-for-hire, someone pre-approved and vetted by Miley’s management to be her “official” boyfriend for the length of the film production and film promotion. But then weird stuff started happening. Liam encouraged Miley to ease up on her famewhoring. They broke up a few times. Miley stopped pushing the virginal Disney image. She started talking more about her (liberal) politics. She started smoking pot regularly. She and Liam moved in together, and they’ve seemed very solid and relatively low-key for more than a year. All in all, I think Liam has been good for Miley. She’s a bright girl (and I say that with no sarcasm), and I think this relationship with Liam challenged her and made her grow as a young woman.

So now Miley is a different kind of post-Disney celebrity. She’s still a multi-million dollar industry, of course, but you can tell that her management really wished she had “grown up” in a more family-friendly way. And maybe some people on her team blame Liam. That’s how I read this story:

Miley Cyrus’ friends are no fans of her beau, Liam Hemsworth! Miley is talking about marrying the Aussie hunk and even moving Down Under with him to start a family, a source reveals. But those close to Miley are begging her to ditch Liam, 22.

“He’s bossy and controlling, and it’s just understood that Miley always pays for them,” the source explains. “Her pals all think he’s just a dumb surfer and a pothead.”

Indeed, insiders blame Liam for Miley’s wild behavior in recent months, says the source, and as Star reported, Miley is quickly earning a reputation as a hard-partying stoner.

“Everyone would breathe a big sigh of relief if she dumped Liam and moved on,” the source says.

Maybe Liam is a “dumb surfer and a pothead.” That sounds like a nice way to go through life, truly. But Liam isn’t really that dumb – he didn’t work for a few years after The Last Song, and then when he did sign on to a movie, it was the potential blockbuster franchise The Hunger Games, where he was cast as Gale. So while Miley’s current career is still in flux, her dumb, pothead, surfer boyfriend is set to become a major movie star. JELLUS?!?

And besides all of that, I just really like them together. They complement each other in some strange way, and I genuinely buy that they love each other.

Liam Hemsworth covers the March issue of GQ Men’s Style to promote his role as Gale in the upcoming Hunger Games movie, and the dude looks good. Really good. However, I won’t lie about my true motivation for this post as an excuse to also cover Liam’s adorable new puppy that was a birthday gift from girlfriend Miley Cyrus (other than the p3nis cake tasted round the world). Miley has tweeted some photos of Ziggy, who looks to be a Boxer. I dare you to look at the eyes on this doggie and try not to melt.

Back to the GQ business though — Liam also sat down for an interview, and although the excerpts are scant, here are a few tidbits:

His childhood role model: “I surfed competitively and made it to the state rounds where I was competing with the top surfers in Victoria. We travelled everywhere. All my friends were surfers. All we wanted to be was Kelly Slater.”

No hard feelings on the Thor role: “Look, Chris is six-and-a-half years older than me so there’s this thing where if I’d got Thor, that would have been weird. The way I look at this is, better Chris than someone else. Believe me, Chris and I spent most of our lives beating each other up. At this point, we’re just happy not to be fist-fighting over who gets to sit in the front seat.”

His folks: “My parents are good people who do good things for others. It can be a challenging example to live up to.”

He misses home: “My family and friends back in Australia have missed this part of my life; and it’s been a big part. That’s tough. I’m growing up without them. My parents don’t Skype. It’s tough with the time difference. I miss Australia a lot.”

Liam seems to be relatively grounded for a guy whose career is about to explode, but I somehow have the feeling that older brother Chris would knock some sense into Liam if he started acting like an entitled douche. I'm still rather curious as to whether he and Miley's relationship will endure the coming storm or if he'll leave her in the dust. Not that I'm rooting for a breakup because I think Liam is good for Miley. And vice versa.

Here’s a little post devoted to some of the couples who made big appearances at the Vanity Fair post-Oscar party. Here’s Kate Hudson and her boyfriend/baby-daddy, Matthew Bellamy. My guess is that Kate really wanted to be invited to present at the Oscars, but producers overlooked her. So instead of staying home and pouting, she pured herself into a vintage Versace gown and went out to party. I think she looks really great here – soft and cute and very pretty. Matt looks nice too – it’s good to see him partying with her crowd.

Jon Hamm and Jennifer Westfeldt. Look, you know how I feel about The Hamm. I’d like to think that he’s a lovely, supportive, amazing man and a great partner to his girlfriend of more than a decade. But what does it say about him that Jennifer is always looking so… Botoxy and kind of desperate? I know you hate it when I say this, but she makes me uncomfortable. She’s wearing a Johanna Johnson gown.

After Angelina Jolie’s leg-posing, Victoria Beckham’s little pout and patented head-tilt seems almost quaint. I think both Victoria and David look really great here. I’m assuming Posh is in her own design – she is her own best model! Haha.

Seriously, this is how Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth posed together at the Vanity Fair party. You know I like Miley, but good God! Tuck your ass in, girl. There’s no need for that! Her dress is Cavalli, by the way. It’s kind of meh.

Last September, a story in Us Weekly seemed to hint that Miley Cyrus was being controlled and isolated by Liam Hemsworth merely because the pair had taken to spending quiet nights at home instead of merely living for the party lifestyle. If anything, this phenomenon pointed towards Miley maturing a bit although she still enjoys surprising Liam with bizarre p3nis cakes in public. Now there’s a new story in this week’s Enquirer that suggests Liam is indeed still aiming to control Miley, and now he’s taking aim at her tattoos. You’ve probably heard that Miley is quite fond of little bitty tattoos; in fact, she has nine of them scattered all over her bod:

Liam reportedly finds tattoos to be trashy and is concerned that the tattoos will ruin Miley’s Hollywood prospects in the long run (even though they’re easily covered up by makeup). It sounds strange that Liam would take issue with Miley’s body art after three years together, but if this story is to be believed, Liam has basically said, “It’s either me or the tattoos, babe,” and Miley’s taking steps to get them removed:

The pop star’s beau, 22-year-old Australian actor Liam Hemsworth, is so determined to get Miley to changer her ever-growing raunchy image, he laid down the law, telling her to lose the tattoos or she loses him.

The down under hunk, star of the upcoming movie thriller The Hunger Games,” is thinking of the future, according ot the source. “If they start a family together, he doesn’t want the mother of his children sending the message that it’s OK to desecrate your body.”

When Miley showed off her latest skin art — and equal sign etched on ehr finger — the source says Liam blew up, telling her: “I hate it. Get rid of them all!”

The former “Hannah Montana” star has nine tattoos — including a large image of a dream catcher on her right side, the words “Just breathe” under her breast, and the word “love” inscribed on the inside of her ear.

Miley’s also getting a reputation for wild antics, which include wearing a breast-revealing top while shopping in Chile, simulating sex with a phallic-shaped cake, and calling herself a “stoner” in a party videotape.

But on Nov. 22, the day before her 19th birthday, Miley was spotted visiting an office that specializes in laser tattoo removal and has begun the process of having the ink removed, said the source.

“It’s very painful to remove the tattoos, but Miley says it’s worth it if it means keeping Liam happy.”

I’m not entirely sure what to think of this story. In Liam’s recent Details interview, he does express concern about Miley’s reputation but it truly seemed like a protective stance and as if he just didn’t want people saying things about Miley that weren’t true. Yet if this story is real, Miley should think long and hard before going through tattoo removal procedures because a boyfriend wants to change her. Besides, who really knows how long Liam will be sticking around after The Hunger Games volleys his career into the stratosphere?

There’s also a story in this week’s Star that claims Miley is “partying, boozing, and using drugs around the clock,” which sounds merely like more of the same that we’ve heard before from the tabloids:

Miley Cyrus truly can’t be tamed! The former Disney darling continues to spiral out of control — partying, drinking, and using drugs, according to multiple sources. “Miley is a complete party animal,” a source reveals to Star. “She pretends like she is this perfect little girl to the public, but behind closed doors, she is really missed up.”

Relegating her career to the back burner, the teen queen has been hitting the party circut — and hard. “Miley has been partying and boozing a lot,” another source adds. And the 19-year-old is plagued by more than just the bottle. “Miley is a complete stoner! She’s very open about how much weed she smokes within her Hollywood crowd. Many of them are enablers. One of her her guy friends is known as a drug dealer to the stars!”

Those close to miley fear the pop star is on the road to disaster. “We are afraid Miley will overdose,” says the source. “She does not know when to stop.”

As she lets loose all over town, Miley is crippling her once-booming career. “She’s been missing business meetings and hasn’t been writing any new music,” explains the source. The former Hannah Montana star even dropped out of her voice role in Adam Sandler’s upcoming animated flick, Hotel Transylvania.

Most of this latter story seems based upon a rehashing of prior accounts of Miley’s love for weed and supposed weakness for alcohol, but I think she truly deserves a break in this department. It’s not as if she’s acquired any DUIs, and it’s not as if her acting or singing is truly in demand regardless of her desire to work. She’s a young adult and former child star. Give her a break already.

Liam Hemsworth covers the March issue of Details to promote his role in the upcoming The Hunger Games movie, which has the potential to catapult him to global superstardom at the age of 22. In other words, Liam will soon no longer be best known as “Miley Cyrus’ boyfriend.” From a gossip perspective, it will be interesting to see whether or not their relationship weathers the storm to come in terms of Liam almost certainly becoming the target of hoards of screaming fans in manner of Robert Pattinson. In the meantime, Liam comes across as entirely protective of Miley during this interview and discusses, among other things, the Bob Marley birthday cake scandal that featured Miley joking on camera about smoking a ton of weed:

On Dating Miley Cyrus: When Liam and Miley hooked up on [The Last Song] set, he was 19, she was 16–a fact he doesn’t shy away from. “What happened happened, and we’ve been together two and a half years. She makes me really happy. When you start, you want to be professional, but when you’re filming those scenes with someone and pretending to love them, you’re not human if you don’t feel something.” When the film wrapped, he went home with her to Nashville, where he was introduced to the joys of Cracker Barrel and Miley’s dad, Billy Ray. “He’s very spiritual. He’s just one of the nicest guys. Very accommodating. I’ve listened to his music since we got together. It’s awesome.” And so is Cracker Barrel. “I’d never heard of country-fried steak before. It’s great! I love fried food.”

On Miley’s Weed Scandal: Liam was there at her 19th-birthday party, which exploded in the tabloids after she joked about her Bob Marley cake and how she “smokes way too much f&*#ing weed” on video. For the first time, Liam is angry. “She’s in a room full of her best friends,” he says, almost breaking a sweat. “And you have one person who comes in there and videos it. The poor girl can’t have one night where she can feel safe in her own world. It’s ridiculous.”

On The Twilight Effect: “I’ve never met [Robert] Pattinson,” Liam says, remarking on the young Hollywood idol in whose footsteps he seems destined to follow. The path is fraught. Sure, there’s the ability to cherry-pick roles and use your name to get a passion project off the ground. But there are also the endless intrusions and the risk of being labeled for life. Liam doesn’t want to talk about the Twilight effect–that The Hunger Games might similarly explode his life and career–or think that he could gain insight from those who’ve come before him. “What do you say to someone? ‘Your life’s gonna change.’ Okay. Thanks. Cool. It is what it is. Whatever. If it happens, there’s nothing you can do.”

On His Hunger Games Role: Liam stars as Gale, a brooding man-child suffering a serious case of heartache when his girl, Katniss, is shipped off to compete in the killer Olympics. It’s Liam–not Jennifer Lawrence–who is this film’s ingenue, a pretty young thing watching the hero do battle. It’s hard to say how much pressure comes with fronting a franchise, especially when it could transform the guy who’s Thor‘s brother and who walks Miley’s dog into Hollywood’s hottest young star. While Liam downplays such expectations, he concedes that he and his Hunger Games character share a certain helplessness. “Gale is someone who wants to stand up to this thing but can’t. He’s pretty powerless.”

In all likelihood, The Hunger Games will be a raging success when it hits theaters on March 23, but I don’t think the fans will be quite as “fanatic” in terms of Team Gale or Team Peeta. Author Suzanne Collins takes great care to paint Katniss as a heroine who doesn’t need to be in a relationship, unlike Bella Swan of the Twilight universe. So maybe Liam can truly use his role in the (presumed) movie trilogy as a springboard and avoid getting pigeonholed as a teen idol like poor Sparklepants has experienced.

As far as this interview goes, it’s such a pity that we couldn’t find out what Liam thought of the p3nis birthday cake that Miley ordered for him. Honestly though, Liam comes across as very wet under the wings but nonetheless as quite a decent guy, not to mention an entirely photogenic one as revealed in the photoshoot:

Don’t even ask me what Miley Cyrus is wearing. I have no idea. At first I was going to claim that this kind of ensemble was popular when I was a kid, but I don’t even think I can justify it as “dated”. These are some of the ugliest cutoffs I’ve ever seen, and Miley has paired them with a bustier, a flannel shirt (unbuttoned) and a pair of cowboy boots. Dear God. She really has no casual style. I’m guessing that the fug shorts might be medical, though – Miley recently “cracked” her tailbone – no joke – “doing a front flip onto the couch.” I don’t even know.

In other Miley news, she wrote an essay for Glamour Mag all about her “All LOVE is equal” tattoo, and why she’s all for gay marriage. She’s talked about her support of gay marriage before, but still – I respect her for sticking with a cause, and for whole-heartedly supporting an issue that’s seen as so “controversial”. Here’s her essay:

Imagine finding someone you love more than anything in the world, who you would risk your life for but couldn’t marry. And you couldn’t have that special day the way your friends do—you know, wear the ring on your finger and have it mean the same thing as everybody else. Just put yourself in that person’s shoes. It makes me feel sick to my stomach.

When I shared a picture of my tattoo on my Twitter page and said, “All LOVE is equal,” a lot of people mocked me—they said, “What happened to you? You used to be a Christian girl!” And I said, “Well, if you were a true Christian, you would have your facts straight. Christianity is about love.” The debate resulted in a lot of threats and hate mail to people who agreed and disagreed with me. At one point I had to say, “Dude, everyone lay off.”

Can’t people have friendly debates about sensitive topics without it turning into unnecessary threats?

I believe every American should be allowed the same rights and civil liberties. Without legalized same-sex marriage, most of the time you cannot share the same health benefits, you are not considered next of kin and you are not granted the same securities as a heterosexual couple. How is this different than having someone sit in the back of the bus because of their skin color?

One day I read online about the head of Urban Outfitters donating to a presidential candidate who does not support equality for everyone. I was shocked and disappointed that a company with such diversity would exclude such a large group of people. I can no longer bring myself to shop there.

We all should be tolerant of one another and embrace our differences. My dad [country singer Billy Ray Cyrus], who is a real man’s man, lives on the farm and is as Southern and straight as they come. He loves my gay friends and even supports same-sex marriage. If my father can do it, anyone can.

This is America, the nation of dreams. We’re so proud of that. And yet certain people are excluded. It’s just not right.

It’s not particularly well-reasoned and it’s not some overwhelming political treatise, but Miley’s still out there and talking about it. I’ve really grown to like her more and more over the past year – her political conscience is growing, and she’s so much more low-key. I hope she keeps it up. I also hope she burns these cutoffs in a spiritually cleansing fire.

Here’s a nice fluffy story for us to scratch our heads over and blink twice. Apparently, Miley Cyrus ordered up a lovely p3nis cake for boyfriend Liam Hemsworth’s birthday party. Strange, right? I don’t even eat crap like that at bachelorette parties, but to each their own, I guess. TMZ has photos of Miley pretending to lick the cake, and the situation looks about as juvenile as one would expect. Maybe Liam wanted to see Miley lick a cake like that, or perhaps she and her friends have some strange sort of “cake prank” theme that endlessly amuses them. After all, Kelly Osbourne did present Miley with a Bob Marley cake for her 19th birthday. I’m guessing that Liam and Miley share the same sense of humor? Let’s hope so:

For her boyfriend Liam Hemsworth’s 22nd birthday, Miley Cyrus pulled out all the stops — from cute to raunchy!

First, the 19-year-old Hannah Montana star revealed that she gifted the Hunger Games hunk with a puppy named Ziggy, sharing a pic via Twitter early last week.

But when the time arrived to celebrate Hemsworth’s big day at Club Icon in L.A. last Saturday (Hemsworth’s actual birthday was Friday Jan. 20), Cyrus went another direction — surprising Hemsworth with a “Happy Birthday Liam” cake adorned with a p3nis.

Photos at TMZ show Cyrus, er, tasting the black-and-red, X-rated confection, the kind usually seen at bachelorette parties.

Last Song costars Cyrus and Hemsworth quietly rekindled their on-and-off romance in spring 2011.

A pal told Us Weekly that Cyrus is “crazy in love” with her man, set to become a superstar once Hunger Games hits theaters in March. “She wants to establish as much of a foundation in the relationship as possible.”

Hopefully, this story won’t devolve into a “Miley goes off the rails” theme. It honestly just looks like some harmless (albeit tasteless) dumb fun. Liam and Miley seem like a decent couple who are well-suited for each other right now. Sure, they probably won’t last forever, but they enjoy each other’s company both on the red carpet and during laid-back moments.

Miley Cyrus stepped out over the weekend with a new cropped hairdo. She was also wearing a white t-shirt without a bra, which is all too common for her. Miley should invest in some cami tops with built in bras if it’s such a problem for her to harness her girls. At least she had on a flannel shirt for coverage. Anyway Miley tweeted that she got a hair cut and had about five inches chopped off. It looks like she’s freshened up the color too, but that might just be the effect of the haircut, as I’ve heard hairdressers talk about how shorter hair can make your haircolor look different.

Miley Cyrus may have left her bra at home, but there was a good reason for it — she was preoccupied with her brand-new haircut!

On Friday, the underwear-less star, who sported a white T-shirt underneath an unbuttoned flannel and denim cut-off shorts, met up with some friends at the Los Angeles eatery Wokcano, while debuting her freshly cropped off hair.

“Just got a hurrrr cut,” the 19-year-old tweeted that day.

“I didn’t do anything to crazy. But I did take 5 inches off!” she later added, responding to a fan via Twitter.

Cyrus was last spotted with her longer locks when she stepped out with her boyfriend Liam Hemsworth at the 2012 People’s Choice Awards, where she wowed in a David Koma dress, Neil Lane jewelry, Jimmu Choo heels and a Marchesa clutch.

Hemsworth, who turned 22 on January 13, is the proud owner of a new puppy, a gift from Cyrus herself.

“Meet Ziggy,” the former Disney starlet wrote beneath an adorable snapshot of her man’s pet, which she shared via Twitter January 12.

I’m thinking that Miley also removed some hair extensions, similar to how Aniston copped to getting extensions taken out for her crop cut. I heard Miley admit in an interview a couple of years ago that she had hair extensions, but back then she was sporting much longer, curlier (and darker) hair. So does she look cute with her new hair? She definitely does if you ignore her fug 90s outfit completely, and she probably feels great after losing a little weight recently. (That she didn’t need to lose.) I have to say that I liked her hair longer, similar to how I liked Aniston’s hair best when it was long and blown out. It’s easier to style short hair, but I find longer hair prettier and more flattering. I hate getting mine cut, though, so I’m biased.

Also, I have to say something about the new puppy that Miley gifted her on-again boyfriend, Liam. Here he is, completely adorable and sweet. [via Miley's Twitter] I don’t know about dog breeds and just spent too much time trying to figure out what kind of pup this is. (Is he/she a Boxer or a mixed breed?) It seems like Miley gets puppies often though. In August of last year she just got two huskies and earlier in the year she was seen toting around another tiny dog. She clearly loves dogs and it shows.

Last week after the People’s Choice Awards, Kaiser took special note of what a damn sexy couple Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth made together. Indeed, they looked good as always, but Miley seemed well, different. Upgraded, perhaps. It was a subtle difference but noticeable if one looks at the above photo comparison between 12/10 and 1/11. Miley was no longer hiding under a bulky gown, her boobs seemed smaller, and her arms looked more toned up than they previously did. According to In Touch, this was a very deliberate change, for Miley went on a pre-holidays crash diet and exercise program to lose weight for a beach vacation with Liam. Through the magic of a chef, nutritionist, and personal trainer, Miley quickly lost 15 pounds but did so at very significant monetary expense:

It was hard not to notice Miley Cyrus’ pared-down physique at the January 11 People’s Choice awards. According to a pal, the teen — who packed on the pounds late last year — enlisted the help of a nutritionist, chef and her old personal trainer, Harley Pasternak, to whip herself into bikini-ready shape ahead of her recent Hawaiian getaway with boyfriend Liam Hemsworth. “Miley probably spent $50,000 to lose 15 pounds in a few weeks,” the pal tells In Touch. “She didn’t care what it cost as long as she looked good!”

So was it worth all of that money to lose weight so quickly when normal civilians like myself sweat it out for several months at the gym and come up with the same results? Miley probably didn’t even blink an eye at spending $50,000, since she’s reportedly worth $120 million (the Hannah Montana franchise itself reached upwards of $1 billion in sales). The thing is, Miley wasn’t big to begin with. Sure, she gained a little weight after leaving her Disney show and heading into the age bracket where most people gain a few pounds anyway. The end result for Miley was that face looked a little rounder, and the girls were more noticeable in these photo from 12/8 and 12/1:

Here are some photos of Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth at last night’s People’s Choice Awards. I can’t believe I’m about to say this, but… Miley Cyrus and Liam are one of the sexiest young couples in Young Hollywood. Like, I buy that they’re boning like bunny rabbits. And I kind of want to see it. This is not a bearding situation, and it’s not a show-mance or a fauxmance. These two actually adore each other, and they can’t keep their hands off of each other. It’s hot.

I’ve always been rather meh on Liam’s attractiveness – he seems like a lug, honestly. But ever since Liam and Miley got back together for a second go-around, and ever since Miley seems more low-key and more grown-up, I’ve liked them both so much more. I want to think he’s a good influence on her. I like to think that they just spend their days having sex and doing bong hits and watching TV. I like to think Miley is learning that her whole life doesn’t have to lived in the public sphere.

Anyway, Miley was wearing this David Koma dress, which I’m not crazy about. At least her tatas are under wraps, I guess. And the white looks pretty on her, but the weirdness in the skirt is bugging me. Also: Miley’s face looks slightly tweaked to me. But other than that, Miley and Liam make a very attractive couple. Miley is completely balls-out in love with him too – look at the way she looks at him. It’s sweet, but I hope she doesn’t get her heart broken.
