Blake Shelton lets Miranda Lambert snoop his phone: ‘There are no secrets’

Rumors have been swirling about Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert’s marriage for a while now. Just going from memory, the stories seemed to begin shortly after they got married, so they’ve been dealing with them for a while. The rumors are usually about Blake’s alleged wandering eye, Miranda’s mistrust of Blake, Miranda and Blake spending a lot of time apart, and Blake’s drinking. Some of it may even be true, although Blake and Miranda always deny it on Twitter and in their interviews. For what it’s worth, I think they do love each other a lot and I think they want to make their marriage work. I also think that Miranda is the reason Blake’s first marriage ended, and that fact haunts both of them. Anyway, Blake covers the new issue of People Mag and it really seems like he’s doing damage control, right?

It’s been two years since Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton tied the knot, but it hasn’t always been total bliss for the couple.

In recent months, the country stars have been the subject of rumors about troubles in their relationship. Now, Shelton is opening up about their marriage – and he tells PEOPLE that there are no secrets between the two.

“[I tell Miranda], ‘I have nothing to hide from you,’ ” he says.

In fact, The Voice judge says one secret to making their marriage work is giving Lambert access to his phone – if she wants it. “That’s always been our policy: ‘Here’s my phone. Go through it,’ ” he says.

“That’s really the kind of trust we have,” Shelton continues. “There are no secrets. [I'll say,] ‘Go dig through my drawers or my computer if you feel like you need to.’ And that’s been a really good thing, because I don’t want her to ever have any doubts.”

Even amid the rumors, Shelton and Lambert seem undaunted. Days before their May 14 anniversary, Shelton jetted to Bakersfield, Calif., for an unannounced performance at Lambert’s Pistol Annies show. And the two will appear together Wednesday night for the televised benefit Healing in the Heartland on NBC, which will raise money for victims of the tornado in Shelton’s homestate of Oklahoma.

For more on how Shelton and Lambert have kept their marriage strong, pick up a copy of this week’s PEOPLE, on newsstands nationwide Friday

[From People]

It’s interesting that Blake talks about snooping because a lot of tabloids have claimed just that – that Miranda, the daughter of private investigators, questions her husband regularly and monitors his activities because she knows he’s a big flirt. And she knows he doesn’t take his vows seriously too, I guess. I don’t know… is this just the way modern marriage works now, that “trust” is letting your wife go through your phone and monitor your communications? Eh.

Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton may be on the verge of a split

Our last coverage on Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert was a front-page, publicist-approved US Weekly article with a lot of quotes suggesting severe cracks in their less then two year marriage. Miranda admitted, on the record, that she snoops into Blake’s phone and reads his Twitter direct messages, adding “it just takes the question out of the marriage.” Other, unnamed sources told US that Miranda knew that Blake was “flirty” with other women but that she believed his assurances that he hasn’t cheated and that she’s standing by him. (Remember that Miranda half-admitted that she hooked up with Blake when he was married to his first wife, so she has reason to worry.)

Well that might not be for long, because Miranda and Blake are either about to split or they have already, depending on which tabloid you believe. Radar has the details for us:

“Despite being married, Miranda and Blake are like two ships passing in the night,” a source told the National Enquirer, who is reporting it’s splitsville for the once happy couple.

“Between their touring schedules and public appearances, they’re actually together only about 50 days a year. That’s no way to run a marriage — and suspicions and jealousies creep up between them.”

Speaking of jealousy, Star magazine is reporting that Miranda is green with envy over Blake’s decision to bring Sheryl Crow onto The Voice as his guest mentor.

“Miranda lit into Blake. She bawled and screamed that he’s heartless, and he yelled back that she needs to chill out and trust him,” a pal told the magazine.

“Sheryl’s been texting and calling Blake during off-hours, and Miranda is extremely annoyed.”

But as RadarOnline.com exclusively reported last week, it was Miranda who turned down the guest mentor gig on her hubby’s talent show!

“Blake originally wanted Miranda to be his celebrity mentor this season, and of course the producers of The Voice were all for it,” an insider revealed to Radar.

“While she had to turn it down because there would have been conflicts with her touring schedule, it still became the cause of a few major arguments between them.”

According to the Enquirer, the two have a difference of opinion of where they’d like to spend their time — Blake in LA and Miranda in Oklahoma — and the good looking 36-year-old being constantly surrounded by young beautiful singers isn’t helping matters.

[From Radar Online]

They don’t trust each other, they want to live in different cities, and they haven’t spent much time together. They’ve only been married two years and they don’t have any kids yet, so there’s that. I don’t see how they’re going to last, but at least they can fly to see each other whenever they have a moment free. Miranda should visit Blake unannounced sometimes so she can check up on him.

Miranda Lambert snoops Blake Shelton’s phone & Twitter: normal or uh-oh?

Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton cover this week’s US Weekly. It reads like a PR piece in which Miranda admits that she knows people are saying her husband cheats, but she’s pretty sure there’s nothing going on and it’s just rumors. Miranda supposedly knows Blake is faithful, even though she’s apart from her husband most of the time, because she snoops in his twitter account and phone whenever they’re together. The article also includes quotes from Miranda about how tough marriage is and how she’s surprised they even lasted a year. Miranda and Blake are coming up on their two year anniversary.

She knows it looks bad and she monitors his data
“She knows he comes off as flirty,” says one source of the country darling, who has copped to reading her husband’s text and direct Twitter messages. “She questions him at times and asks about certain girls. The rumors are hard for her to hear.”

Blake swears he didn’t cheat with young singer Cady Groves
“Blake swears up and down that nothing happened,” says a Shelton insider – another source says the ugly rumors have taken a toll.

And at the very least, stir up some memories. Lambert herself has confessed to falling for him at first sight in 2005 – even though she was reportedly in a relationship at the time and he was still wed to Kaynette Williams.

She’s monitoring him on set
“Miranda is definitely aware of how Blake can act,” says a Voice insider. “That’s why she’ll hang out on set to keep an eye on him.” Echoes another insider, “She trusts him, but she knows how flirty she appears.”

They won’t be together this summer
Even sharing a time zone this summer will amount to a serious challenge. “Their schedule is truly the harderst part,” says a Lambert source of the couple, who share a spacious rental in the Hollywood Hills, a Nashville pad and a farm in Tishomingo, Oklahoma. “Miranda always has to go to L.A., or they’ll meet in Oklahoma. It’s a lot of flying.”

Miranda told US in January that she snoops
“Either one of us can always look at each other’s phone, and we know each other’s passcode. I don’t have to snoop anymore. It just takes the question out of the marriage. I like to check his direct messages [On Twitter]”

[From US Weekly, print edition, April 29, 2013]

Is this acceptable in a marriage to reach a point where you don’t trust the person and are digging through their data whenever you can? Or is that just being open? If a cheating spouse knows their partner is snooping through their stuff they’re going to get better at hiding it. If one party thinks the other one is cheating, is a non-incriminating data trail going to reassure them?

Miranda has half-admitted that she got with Blake back when he was married. She said in an interview a couple of years ago that she was instantly attracted to Blake when she met him, that she “knew better,” and “I knew he was married.” It sounded like she was trying to own up to an affair without stating it outright. So now she’s fighting for her own marriage after a scant couple years. She seems to think it’s worth fighting for at this point, but it also reads like she didn’t know what she was getting into. She should have, she’s said that her parents are private investigators and “I’ve seen this my whole life – affairs.” I’m sure she’s seen affairs happening in second marriages too, when the husband decides he wants to trade in his second wife/former mistress.

Shania Twain’s 90s look vs. Miranda Lambert’s plunging LBD at the ACM Awards

As you can see from the photo above, Miranda Lambert was one of the big winners at last night’s Academy of Country Music Awards. She took home Female Vocalist of the Year, Single Record of the Year, and Song of The Year for “Over You,” which she wrote with with her husband, Blake Shelton. (These two also won the CMA Song of The Year award for “Over You” back in November.) Other winners included Luke Bryan for Entertainer of The Year and Jason Aldean for Male Vocalist. A complete list of winners is here.

We’re focusing on the fashion in this post. Kaiser has already covered some big names and Bedhead will have more shortly. First off is Miranda’s look for the press room. She’s in a plunging little black dress showing a lot of cleavage. (I don’t have a designer ID on her dress yet.) I do like this dress and find it sexy and flattering, if a bit predictable, but I wish she would have gone with some daintier shoes. Those cage shoes are kind of dominating the look. Miranda wore two other gowns last night: one of those short black sequin dresses she loves along with a leather corset and fringed skirt combo which was killer. You can see those dresses along with her performance here.

In contrast, Shania Twain was firmly stuck in the 90s in this bizarre black strapless tiered mullet gown with a cutout back. She paired it with some awful knee high boots with a floral print. Hideous. Plus check out her too-long curly extensions. I had hair like this in the 90s and I would have thought that gown was hot back in 1991. Something nice: I like her cool cuff bracelet. The logical choice would have been to go with silver jewelry to match this outfit, but she came up with “gold” so I guess that’s somewhat creative. Poor Shania needs a stylist.

Finally, I’m adding Dog The Bounty Hunter and Beth Chapman for obvious reasons. This lady needs a boob reduction. That looks really painful. If Shania is stuck in the 90s, these people are stuck in the 80s, but even back then this would have been incredibly trashy. It’s like she’s emulating Dolly Parton but thought she needed to take it up a few notches.

Christina Aguilera ditched the bright orange spray tan and clown makeup: cute?

These are some new photos of Christina Aguilera at a screening of Season 4 of “The Voice” last night. It premieres on March 25, and since it’s a hit for NBC they’re really cramming them back to back. The last season just ended in December, but somehow it feels sooner than that. That must be due to all the promotion I’ve been seeing for this season. Aguilera was a judge for the first three seasons, but both she and fellow judge Cee Lo Green have left, they’ve been replaced by Usher and Shakira. (Whenever I think of her I get “Hips Don’t Lie” stuck in my head. Probably because it’s in one of the spin videos I do.) Adam Levine and Blake Shelton are still on the judging panel for their fourth season.

It’s unknown why Aguilera is no longer on The Voice, but she did regularly clash with fellow judge Adam Levine, and she was rumored to be a diva. So that’s why it’s nice to see her at the premiere for season 4. I don’t think she was contractually obligated to show up, it’s not like she’s on this season, but she did and she really put her game face on!

This is such an improvement for Christina, whom we regularly see looking wasted with day-glo fake bake and caked-on makeup. For comparison, this is how she looked the last time we saw her at an event, in October of last year.

See, she looks awesome now. She’s still fake baking but it’s not as dark. She wore a really cute, flattering dress, which Just Jared identifies as Parker with a Versace belt. The back of the dress is white, you can see it in the photo below. For her makeup she went with a neutral lip, cheek and eye, and she looks quite sober. It also looks as if she’s lost weight. This makes me wonder if she ditched that guy who served as her enabler, Matt Rutler, but I did find photos of them together just a month ago. Whatever is going on in Christina’s life, she should keep it up. Even if it only involved hiring a new makeup artist. I would love to see her get rid of that brassy blonde hair and go with a more nuanced color, but baby steps. This is a big difference!

Also there we have Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton, looking coupled up.

Usher, who is hot to me when I don’t pay too much attention to his fashion. Those shiny red boots are atrocious! Also, I like him better with shorter hair.

And Yvette Nicole Brown! Just because I love her. Shakira wasn’t there, boo.

Miranda Lambert & Blake Shelton tweet-deny tabloid rumors of his infidelity

For the past year, the tabloids have been trying to make something out of the idea that Blake Shelton (still?) has a wandering eye after marrying Miranda Lambert. Last year, the tabloids were all pearl-clutchy about Blake tweeting encouragement and jokes to then-21-year-old Cady Groves, a contestant on The Voice. Long story short, Blake is still tweeting her and they might have met up a few times to talk and drink (because Blake loves to drink), and the tabloids are still “OMG Blake is cheating!” For the record, it’s possible, I guess. I don’t have strong feelings about Blake or Miranda, but I do know there’s always a lot of drama about them and how they got together (he left his wife for Miranda, there was overlap). Anyway, Life & Style has run two cover stories on this “scandal” and Miranda and Blake decided to comment. Via Twitter.

The latest “it” couple to make headlines over an alleged cheating scandal is none other than country music royalty Blake Shelton and wife Miranda Lambert. But the country crooners aren’t taking the reports to heart — or even seriously, for that matter.

The pair are the focus of a new tabloid magazine cover, which reports that Shelton’s alleged affair with a 23-year-old artist has shaken up their “perfect marriage.” Shelton, 36, took to Twitter on Sunday, March 17, to address the rumors head-on.

“Hey @mirandalambert… I just read in a tabloid that our marriage is falling apart! FOCK!” he wrote jokingly.

Lambert, 29, was just as flippant in her reply.

“Oh no! Can’t wait to read if we make it or not,” she shot back, to which Shelton heartily wrote: “Ba! Ha! Ha! You see y’all! I’m making her funnier!”

This isn’t the first time that the pair has taken to Twitter to address rumors about their private lives. Last November, the duo similarly shot down reports that they were expecting a baby.

“Wow! I just read the headline! ‘We are having a baby’ yay! Blake Shelton, we’re getting a new puppy?” she tweeted at her husband of just under two years.

“Either [Miranda is pregnant] or Reese had my baby…I’m confused too!” Shelton, referring to the cover, which featured a split of Reese Witherspoon and her new baby boy with Shelton and Lambert.

“I think it’s gonna take the Witherspoon name,” he added. “Look, I know I’ve gained some weight but the test was negative!”

[From Us Weekly]

Eh. At least they can laugh it off, I guess. Considering the long-standing drama with these two… I do worry that they’ll burn out on their crazy-love and when the spark is gone, it will be a huge mess. Of course, that was my concern with Brangelina too, and they’re still going strong. Maybe Blake and Miranda will stand the test of time and weather every storm. Or maybe he’ll end up in bed with some young thang and Miranda will find out and it will be chaos.

Miranda Lambert, worried about Blake Shelton ‘cheating’ over Twitter?

We don’t have much of Life & Style’s cover story this week, but it seems like it could have been pretty juicy. Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton are the most controversial couple of country music, I think – people have very strong opinions, for and against. The people against them always point out that Blake dumped his first wife Kaynette Gern as soon as he hooked up with Miranda (at the very least, there was some overlap), which makes Miranda a “homewrecker”. People who support them always point out that Miranda and Blake seem made for each other, that they’re both damaged and “real” and they complete each other in some passionate, crazy way.

Still, is it possible that Blake has a wandering eye? That’s how Miranda got him in the first place, so maybe. L&S seems to be claiming in their cover story that Miranda is “scared” that Blake’s “flirtatious tweets” will eventually lead him to cheat. Get that? It’s not that Blake has actually put his p in another woman’s v. It’s about his tweeting. According to Jezebel’s round-up, Miranda has now taken to following Blake around while he’s on tour and she’s “implementing her three fool-proof rules for making their marriage work: Face time every two weeks, she can check his texts, and she gets to chaperone him on The Voice.” As for the “23-year-old singer” – I couldn’t figure it out by looking at his Twitter, but CB pointed out a story from last year in which Blake was tweet-flirting with a young country star named Cady Groves. She was 21 years old then – maybe it’s the same chick?

Faith Hill in J.Mendel at the Grammys: pretty or cheap?

Miranda Lambert was one of the first performers at last night’s Grammy Awards, she did a duet with Dierks Bentley of “Home” and “Over You,” (video is here and a complete list of winners is here). The audio for the vocals was so low that you could barely hear them. I nded up feeling sorry for her, and it makes me wonder why, with the best audio engineers in the whole damn world, the Grammy Awards can’t get the sound perfect for every performance. About 3/4 of the way through the vocals were adjusted to sound clearer, but it was too little too late. Miranda and Dierks got shafted.

In terms of her fashion, Miranda wore this plunging navy Roberto Cavalli gown on the red carpet that I thought was pretty sexy, if a bit underwhelming. She didn’t go with her usual short, sequin look, and reserved that for her performance dress. I really liked her statement earrings and bold cuff bracelets. Her hair and makeup were also very well done. During her interview with Ryan Seacrest, Miranda joked about the letter that went out ahead of the Grammys warning the performers not to show too much skin. She pointed to her cleavage and talked about “puffy skin” being banned, but that part of the letter was clearly about “genitals” not boobs. They also didn’t want any nips showing. (See: Rihanna) Oh and Miranda was nominated for Best Country Album, which went to Zac Brown Band for Uncaged.

Also in Roberto Cavalli was the adorable Carly Rae Jepsen. I DVRed the red carpet interviews on both the TV Guide Channel and E! (although I only watched E! most of the time) and Carly was there at the beginning and she spoke to both Chris Harrison and Ryan Seacrest. Carly compared finding this dress to when Ariel the Little Mermaid got her legs for the first time. She was very gracious and happy to be there, and I came away with a lot of affection for her. In terms of the dress, it shimmered beautifully on camera and fit her perfectly. These photos don’t do it justice, it was gorgeous. I’m not a fan of her thick bangs, and her foundation looked really orange on camera when she was presenting, but overall this was a win for Carly. (She didn’t take home any Grammys though. She was nominated in the Best Solo Performance and Song of The Year categories, for “Call Me Maybe,” which went to Adele and Janelle Monáe.)

Faith Hill wasn’t as successful, in my opinion, in J. Mendel. The dress was somewhat cheap-looking to me, with mesh and sequins overlaying a sweetheart bodice. I think the skirt section is navy while the top is black, too. Plus her hair really doesn’t suit her swept up like that. She was probably going for edgy, but a softer, loose style would have lightened up the whole look. She looked really cute next to her husband, though. Faith and Tim McGraw are one of those couples that looks so alike that you can tell their relationship is solid. (Or not, they’re famous after all. Maybe they’re just good at keeping up appearances.)

In contrast to this longstanding married couple we have the on-off-on again engaged twits, Kat Von D and Deadmau5. They were interviewed by Giuliana on the red carpet and I got so distracted by Kat’s vocal drone. She wore this sweater dress that looks like she just picked it off the floor and threw it on to go for a coffee run. Trash to the E. He looks so over it, and it’s only a matter of time before they’re fighting and breaking up over Twitter again.

Finally I wanted to add Estelle in there as she wore this kind of funky dress that Kelly Osbourne was gushing about. It was a dress that Estelle designed along with her team, and I can’t decide if I like it. It’s very 70s and it’s not totally fug, it’s just funky and different. That must be her style and she looks like she has a sense of humor about it too.

Miranda Lambert on the Chris Brown situation: ‘It’s not okay. At all.’

At last year’s Grammys, Chris Brown not only won an actual award, but he performed on the awards show to widespread applause and acclaim. Most of the musical professionals didn’t seem to have a problem with him or maybe they had just decided to “forgive” him for beating the hell out of Rihanna three years earlier. Team Breezy (the crazy, deluded girls who think Chris is God-like) began tweeting crazy stuff about his performance, like he was “so good” that they would let him beat them. Chris Brown defended himself against the minor Grammys backlash in typical Chris Brown style – with an ALL CAPS Twitter rant laced with obscenities.

Miranda Lambert was one of the few musical professionals in the audience that night who said anything negative about Brown publicly. She tweeted that night: “He beat on a girl… not cool that we act like that didn’t happen.” Miranda talked about Chris as an “abuser” in her concerts too, and not surprisingly, she faced a lot of backlash from those Team Breezy idiots. So when she asked about it during her Redbook interview (she covers the February issue), Miranda handled the situation thoughtfully.

Miranda on the Chris Brown tweet: “I didn’t feel right about not saying something. The loudmouth that I am, I say what I think. I wanted everyone to know that I don’t agree with the message it’s sending to young women. It’s not okay. At all. To be celebrated after doing something like that. I don’t think it’s right, I never will, and I will stand by what I said till the day that I die.”

Her insecurities: “I’m insecure about tons of things! I cry onstage once a week, singing The House That Built Me, and I always tell the crowd, “Don’t tell anyone I was cryin’!” Or Over You, when Blake and I had all that loss in our lives. It was really hard to get up there after we had been to three funerals. [Blake’s] dad died, my childhood best friend passed away, and then my childhood dog, all in two weeks. I went back onstage, and I wasn’t ready, but the crowd just embraced me. I was like, “Okay, I’m really real. Like, all of this tough-girl image? My walls are down and all these people can see it.” But it was a good moment for me. I just laid it out there, like, “I’m normal, I’m a girl, I have PMS, and I get emotional, and I’m sad sometimes, and that’s it.” I feel like I got over the hump of trying to be like, “I have a chip on my shoulder, I’m strong all the time,” you know? Because no one is.”

Being apart from Blake sometimes: ‘I love it. This time I hadn’t seen him in 11 days, and he was just so happy when I got here, it was like [she makes an angels-singing voice] “Ahh, you’re here.” When I go to The Voice set and everyone says, “Blake’s been talking about you so much,” it just makes me feel special, you know?’

She’s the “mean one” in their relationship: ‘I’m more protective. He’s the sweetest guy. Like, he will talk to anyone, sign anything, take a picture with everyone. And if I don’t stop it at some point, it ruins our whole night. I have to be the bad guy. The people are like, “Oh, God, don’t mess with her, she’ll murder people.”’

[From The Mail]

The only problem I have with what Miranda said is that I wish she wouldn’t couch her completely reasonable objection to Chris Brown with a self-deprecating remark – “The loudmouth that I am, I say what I think.” You don’t have to do that, Miranda. You don’t have to insult yourself before you speak your mind! It’s not a “loudmouth” move to feel like the celebration of Chris Brown by the music industry is gross and tragic and insulting to women.

LeAnn Rimes in black Dolce & Gabbana at the ACAs: improving or awful?

I hope no one is expecting me to do any epic fashion posts about last night’s American Country Awards in Las Vegas. I just looked through the photo sets, and not only was it a (typical) parade of pageant-y fugness, there was a distinct lack of A-list country music talent. Which means that LeAnn Rimes was like one of the biggest “names” there. LeAnn wore Dolce & Gabbana. You know what? Call me cray, but I don’t hate her look. The LBD is decent (although it doesn’t look good in profile), and I like that LeAnn is going darker with her hair. I also think LeAnn’s face looks oddly “fuller”. Is she getting fillers?

LeAnn was a presenter at the show, and she likely came to do some more promotion for her new album. That’s why she’s been doing interviews and E! specials and all of that. I imagine that her promotional tour and any touring/appearance schedule will be cut short at some point, though. Because she’s LeAnn and she loves drama and she needs to be home to keep an eye on Eddie. So she’ll create some medical drama or something to cut her promotional work short. Wait for it.

A few more pics from the show – Miranda Lambert in Reem Acra. I kind of like it on her – she’s so short and she has such big boobs, it must be difficult for her to find good red carpet clothes, so with that in mind… this is pretty good. Carrie Underwood surprisingly didn’t have ten costume changes – she wore this budget-looking Georges Chakra dress the whole night.
