Tyra Banks ignores her audience; keeps them waiting 2 hours

Tyra Banks’ blatant narcissistic personality disorder rages on, according to Page Six. They more politely call it “diva behavior” but I think it’s pretty clear Tyra is walking a fine line between total bitch and complete personality disorder. Tyra is continuing to annoy the living daylights out of her guests and audience with her blatant “it’s all about me” behavior.

Tyra Banks’ diva behavior has reached ridiculous new heights. The model/talk-show hostess kept her “Tyra Banks Show” audience waiting for nearly two hours at her West 26th Street studio Tuesday during a taping of “Celebrating Black Models, Past, Present and Future,” while she stood backstage giggling, snacking and chatting with the crew.

“You could hear her going on and on because she was standing right behind the stage curtain,” said one audience member. “She’s talking and talking. Meanwhile, you have the entire audience waiting almost two hours for the taping to start.” And our spy said when Banks finally did take her seat onstage, she had a bad attitude. “She leaves us waiting, and everyone is sitting there complaining, and then she comes out and doesn’t say a word about it. She didn’t even say hello, she got right into her script,” said our source. “She acted so cold towards everyone. She’s a phony.”

Another audience member told Page Six the crowd was full of aspiring models who were dragged into the street by Banks for a shoot after she’d interviewed Beverly Johnson, Veronica Webb, Chanel Iman and Tameka Jacobs. All along, “Tyra kept saying, ‘When I was a model,’ and would hardly let them talk,” said our spy. “It was all about her, as usual.”

Banks then led the whole audience outside onto the street for the show’s ending. “Cops had it closed off, and Tyra had bodyguards,” laughed our spy. “She had the audience prance down the street and then release black balloons. Some were whining that it was so bad for the environment.

[From Page Six]

I’m sure there are a lot of celebrities that are full of themselves –in fact you could argue that it might be a necessary trait in order to be successful in show business. But Tyra manages to take it to completely unheard of levels. There is no bad behavior the woman can’t legitimize to suit herself and nothing she won’t do to further her career. Even something that seems like it’s not that big a deal – like the balloons – shows how it’s all about her. I can think of dozens of other dramatic looking things she could have had the models do – but what does the earth matter if Tyra’s not happy when she’s on it?

Here’s Tyra with models Jessica White, Selita Ebanks, Pat Cleveland, Toccara Jones, Veronica Webb, Chanel Iman, Beverly Johnson, Noemie Lenoir and Stacey McKenzie for ‘The Tyra Banks Show’ “Celebrates the First All Black Model Issue of Vogue Italia” – along with the infamous balloons – in New York on Tuesday. Sarah Larson says she’ll miss George Clooney’s dancing skills

George Clooney’s ex, Sarah Larson, is making the PR rounds to let everyone know just how awesome she is, just how great her life is going, and how she’s still good friends with George. Not to sound too cynical, but I don’t believe a word of it. It’s definitely more dignified to go this route than trying to drag the person through the mud, so I give her points for trying. I just don’t think it’s true.

Actor George Clooney certainly knows how to stay on good terms with his exes, if a new interview with Sarah Larson is anything to go by. Clooney split with the former cocktail waitress in May after a year together. But if anyone expected her to be bitter about losing her grip on Hollywood’s most eligible bachelor, think again.

“George is a great guy, a wonderful person. I don’t regret spending time with him and he’s a great person to get to know. We still remain friends and have kept in touch. In fact, we spoke over the phone a couple of days ago. He’s fun to be around, down to earth, laid back, funny and smart,” she gushed to Hello! magazine. And the Ocean’s Eleven star is apparently a man of hidden talents. “Most people know George has a great sense of humour and is an adept storyteller, but I will always miss his extraordinary dance moves,” Larson said.

Thanks to their relationship, however, she is now moving on to bigger and better things. “I have a lot of great opportunities, doors that have opened, and I have no complaints. I make good money. I have a house. I have all the things I’ve always wanted. I’m in a good place,” she said.

I’ve had some amazing offers come in, including one modelling campaign that may bring me to England soon. I can’t talk about it yet because it’s not a done deal. I hope it happens because I’ve never been to England and I’d love to spend some time there. If I do end up there I could find a nice British boy. I’d be open to the idea. I hear they have a good sense of humour.”

[From the Telegraph]

It sounds like Sarah is appreciative of the good things her relationship with George brought her, but I can’t imagine her possibly being so cool with him. But if she really is, then good for her. She is strikingly beautiful; hopefully she’ll be able to parlay her exposure into some kind of career. Not that eating bugs on Fear Factor wasn’t a good gig. It just wasn’t long-term.

Rachel Hunter criticized for curvier figure

Model and Rod Stewart’s ex-wife Rachel Hunter has been criticized all over the internet over the past couple of days for what appears to be a bit of weight gain. Hunter is one of the stars of NBC’s Celebrity Circus. Yep, it’s exactly what it sounds like: celebs who learn circus acts. Definitely a useful life skill that they can use later on. The women are all in tight sequined outfits, which are pretty unforgiving.

In some recent pictures Hunter is shown performing in a corset, and it appears pretty obvious that she has gained some weight. She claims that the show’s vigorous routines and her naturally athletic shape have caused her to bulk up, making her appear heavier on camera. No matter what’s going on, everyone from the mainstream media to internet bloggers are attacking Hunter and harping on her figure.

She made her name as the super-svelte swimwear model with endless legs.

But Rachel Hunter cut a chunkier figure when she appeared on the American reality television show Celebrity Circus, her somewhat sturdier shape barely contained by a corset-style outfit and unflattering fringed miniskirt.

The 38-year-old has complained that the athletic nature of Celebrity Circus has caused her to gain muscle and made her look bigger.

Her increased strength was certainly evident in her bulging biceps and broad shoulders - she has performed on the trapeze and walked the tightrope during the series.

[From the Daily Mail]

The Daily Mail is actually much kinder in their phrasing than a lot of the other articles out there. I think it’s pretty clear that Hunter has put on perhaps a bit of weight and a good deal of muscle. It’d be hard to do her routines over and over and not get stronger. I think she still looks gorgeous; she just doesn’t look the same as she did fifteen years ago. And who the hell does? It’s sort of ridiculous that we expect that from people, models or not.

David Beckham blogs about women flocking to his giant… poster

David Beckham’s underwear sure is getting a lot of attention. Or rather, what’s inside his underwear. Macy’s put up a giant billboard of Beckham posing in nothing but Emporio Armani underwear outside their San Francisco store. I haven’t been able to find any reports directly linking the ad to what I’m assuming must be an increase in car accidents in the area… but I’m sure in a few weeks someone will notice a trend.

David blogged on his website about the experience, and all the attention the ad has garnered.

Well I’m sure you’ve seen the pictures but last week I went to San Francisco to see the unveiling of the new Emporio Armani campaign I shot a while back. To be honest I was amazed by the huge billboard poster outside Macy’s department store, but even more amazed by the amount of people who turned up to see it! I’m always surprised by the amount of attention certain things create, but the attention this campaign has created is pretty incredible. It was great to meet some of the people who’d come out especially though, I’ve always wanted to visit San Francisco, so it was a great to finally get there…

[From David Beckhams’s Blog via Us Weekly]

It is indeed a huge billboard. Though I don’t think that’s the hugeness most people are talking about. While the size of the billboard is impressive, I think the “amount of attention certain things have created” is more due to the certain thing he’s sporting beneath his underpants. Okay I really will stop now. Giggle. There were rumors that Becks was digitally enhanced, but I’m going to assume no Photoshop experts got within a hundred feet of that photo. Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m packing my bags for San Francisco.

Here’s a video of a woman freaking out at the stripper-like unveiling of David Beckham’s billboard. There really is a complete loss of dignity here, which makes me really happy. Video thanks to YouTube.

New modeling contest reality show features disabled women

There’s a new reality shown in England called “Britain’s Missing Top Model” featuring young women with disabilities competing in a beauty contest. It will air on BBC Three and includes women in the 18-30 range, one of whom is partially paralyzed, one deaf and several limbless. The winner gets a spread in British Marie Claire and will be represented by a modeling agency. Producers say they want to increase awareness and acceptance of people with disabilities:

‘Britain’s Missing Top Model’ only features models with disabilities from around the world - including one from the U.S.. Among the eight lovely ladies who will duke it out onscreen are women without limbs, some who are partially paralyzed and one who is deaf.

The series, which debuts on BBC in July, reportedly aims to challenge the standard of beauty in the fashion industry.

“I went into this program thinking it was an adventure, rather than a path to a new career,” contestant Jessica Kellgren-Hayes, who often uses a wheelchair to get around, told Britain’s Daily Mail newspaper. “Although I don’t want any of my dreams to be unattainable, I’m not sure if Britain is ready for a model with a disability.”

U.K. Marie Claire editor Marie O’Riordan, who serves as a judge for “Missing Top Model,” says she has high hopes for the show: “I do believe the program could help challenge our attitudes to disability. I want to see the winner shake up the fashion industry. These young women shouldn’t be invisible to the fashion world just because they are disabled.”

[From NY Daily News]

I have mixed feelings about this. When I first read this article, I was shaking my head and sighing. These reality show beauty contests are asinine and it just sounds like another show creating drama around competition, except this time the contestants have physical disabilities. On the other hand, if they handle it tactfully it might be able to break down “beauty barriers.” Whatever their reasons for featuring disabled women on a modeling contest, surely ratings are behind this decision more than anything else. This brings up all sorts of issues about the standard of beauty and objectification of women. If it increases awareness and is an opportunity these women wouldn’t otherwise have, that’s great. I don’t usually watch the modeling reality shows though and my initial reaction is skepticism.

Here are some photos of the contestants, thanks to the NY Daily News. It’s telling that the one woman who is slightly overweight in this group of gorgeous women is dressed goofy and holding a broken mirror.

Justin Timberlake’s Givenchy ads

I’ve never really understood all of the hullabaloo over Justin Timberlake’s looks. His talent, I get. He’s really good at what he does. But he looks sort of ordinary to me. Or so I thought. Justin’s just finished shooting ads for Givenchy’s new cologne Play. And I’ve got to say, as much as I didn’t get it before, I get it now. The man can work it.

In his quest for World domination, Justin Timberlake has acquired yet another title - the face of Givenchy’s new “Play” fragrance.

And as part of his promotional duties, the SexyBack singer flew out to Paris, France to do a little schmoozing at scent’s launch held at Mini Palais on the Champs Elysees.

Sporting a two-tone blazer overtop a black shirt/black tie combo along with a pair of black trousers, JT made a very interesting footwear choice, opting for a soiled pair of combat-looking boots.

Though his latest release “The Love Guru” hasn’t done stellar at the box office, Justin has another project in the pipeline called “The Open Road” that will hopefully vindicate his movie career.

[From Celebrity Gossip Net]

Well at least Justin can be associated with something far more successful than “The Love Guru” for now. Here are the first set of Justin’s promo ads.

K-Fed offered another modeling deal

Things aren’t looking so bad for Kevin Federline anymore. The former punch line to many a joke – and really anything involve the words ‘douche bag’ or ‘wifebeater’ – has actually managed to get a bit of a career going for himself, besides being a professional baby daddy. K-Fed’s musical skills are legendarily laughable, but he does have something going for him: his looks.

Before you yell at me… okay once you’re done yelling at me… in the right light - when you forget that he’s Kevin Federline – he can actually be kinda hot. I remember seeing him un-douched for the first time in Details magazine three or four years ago when he was still married to Britney, and I couldn’t believe it was the same person. He was damn hot. Then I read the accompanying interview, and all the hotness melted away. But if he does like a good model should: keeps his mouth shut and just stands there and looking pretty – he might have a good career for a little bit. And Federline’s recently received some offers.

Kevin Federline, a former struggling backup dancer, is now being offered a seven-figure endorsement job! Britney Spears’ ex-husband has been approached to be the new face of Christopher Brian Collection, In Touch can exclusively reveal.

“We feel Kevin would be a great model for the line,” Chris Stokes, a music producer who co-owns the denim brand, tells In Touch. Nothing has been set in stone regarding the modeling gig because the 30-year-old father of four is busy with other projects.

“Kevin is also working with Chris on his music and movie career,” an insider tells In Touch. After being named Father of the Year by Privé nightclub in Las Vegas on June 13, K-Fed may soon give Britney a run for her money. “He is in everyone’s good graces right now, so he feels like it’s the time for his career to shine,” the insider says.

[From In Touch]

Being a bad boy isn’t necessarily bad for one’s career, but being a joke sure is – and that’s exactly what K-Fed was. He’s right, now that everyone’s taking him a little more seriously, he should take advantage of it. Of course it’s worrisome that the same guy that’s offered him a modeling gig is also helping him make more music. That’s like offering someone a heart-healthy orange and a tub of lard to eat at the same time. The good from the former is easily canceled out by the bad of the later.

Federline has a little bit of modeling experience. He modeled for Five Star Vintage in 2006, but was dropped. I’m guessing because he wanted to focus on his rapping.

Here’s K-Fed arriving at Prive to be honored as ‘Father of the Year’ as part of Father’s Day weekend. I think he looks remarkably hot and un-douchy here (with the exception of the third photo). He suits up decently – and if you keep him from wearing a trucker hat and/or fedora, he’s pretty much good to go. Images thanks to WENN.

Gisele Bundchen finally discovers why Tom Brady loves football

Gisele Bundchen - the supermodel who, in my opinion doesn’t hold a candle to Heidi Klum - is half naked in GQ magazine. Gisele has been on the arm of Patriots quarterback Tom Brady for quite awhile now and has finally solved the mystery of his love for football. During her interview with the magazine she touches base on her relationships, money and sticking her finger down her throat for the sake of being skinny.

Her thoughts on first meeting Brady and being introduced to football:
Look, I’m Brazilian. I had never seen football before. I’m freezing, and all I’m thinking is, When can I go back to New York City? I didn’t understand why they were all hitting each other. Now I do, but I didn’t.

Her money issues…

Do you think [salary]’s important to me? Look, this is my job. I take pictures. There is no big deal. I would like to know who this reporter is finding out all of these amounts. And I would like him to talk to my accountant and figure out where is the cash that’s missing. Because I haven’t seen it.

[NY Magazine]

This is refreshing. I wonder if he had to use Barbie and Ken dolls to explain the game. Regardless, Tom has become more and more mainstream and a bigger target for the press. He embodies the typical high school quarterback with good looks and a bit of charm. Brady even dabbles in modeling now.

You would hope the modeling side of Gisele’s story would be seedy, but Janice Dickinson will have to suffice. Bundchen denies the lure of desperate measures to stay thin in a body image industry that demands perfection. Eating disorders is a subject she rather not chat about.

I don’t think it’s something that people go around talking about. I do think what saved me is that I’ve been very athletic since I was very young. I think your body has muscle memory.

[NY Magazine]

So this bitch is gorgeous, rich, thin and has a “perfect boyfriend.” Yes. I am bitter. I am also a Bears fan, so sorry Gisele. Heidi is still the shiz.

Harry Potter star Emma Watson is the new face of Chanel

Oh to be rich and famous. And only 18. Emma Watson, one of the young stars of the Harry Potter movie franchise, has just signed a $6 million deal to be the new face of Chanel, replacing Keira Knightley – either because she’s aging away at 23, or she’s become so thin that her form no longer shows up on television screens. Problematic either way.

The 18-year-old actress has signed a two-year contract worth £3million with the French fashion house to promote the brand [Chanel fragrance Coco Mademoiselle.]. Miss Watson, who became a household name in the films based on JK Rowling’s books, has signed up with leading model agency Storm, which is thought to have secured her first major campaign.

It is understood that she will replace Keira Knightley, 23, whose contract with Coco Mademoiselle ends this summer. Sources said Chanel is creating a new role for Miss Knightley who, in her latest advert, poses provocatively with just a bowler hat covering her modesty.

A source said Miss Watson’s appointment will be announced next month. ‘Emma has been excitedly telling friends that she is going to be taking over from Keira. Emma has been slowly integrated into the Chanel brand. They have been dressing her for film premieres and parties over recent months to see if she is the right fit. Once it became clear she is growing into a beautiful young woman and wears the Chanel brand so elegantly, they had to sign her up. Chanel realises it is important to target a young audience.’

[From the Daily Mail]

Watson is certainly a lovely girl, and brings with her a younger fan base than other Chanel models like Nicole Kidman, and maybe even a bit younger that Keira Knightley’s fans. It’s good that Chanel isn’t actually kicking Knightley to the curb. Hopefully that’s not a bunch of PR bull to make them sound good. Chanel is obviously one of the classiest brands out there. They must not have paid too much attention to Watson’s drunken behavior on her 18th birthday.

Here’s Emma Watson leaving Automat restaurant in London on April 19th. Images thanks to WENN.

Cindy Crawford is proud of her body

91783812.jpg

The day that Cindy Crawford has to come out and defend her body is the day the rest of us should go crawl under rocks. But in the wake of the Jennifer Love Hewitt “scandal” (the scandal being that she’s not a size 0, has a normal body, and had the nerve to be photographed as such) the paparazzi has been on the prowl for more unflattering photos of anyone they could get. And who better than a model? Cindy Crawford was photographed at the beach wearing a bikini. Her stomach is less-than-washboard. And by that I mean there is the world’s teeniest, tiniest bit of loose skin. You know, the kind that happens to most of the rest of us in spades after we pop out a few kids. Every other inch of Cindy appeared to be absolute perfection – but of course everyone honed in on the one “normal” area on her body and made a huge stink about how she’d let herself go. I was about eighteen shades of confused.

“I’m actually happier with my body now that I was back then because the body I have is the body I’ve worked for. When I was 23 other women could look at me and say, ‘Well, she’s never had kids.’ “But now I have and I know what it’s like to have to lose baby weight. It is a huge change for your body. You don’t even want to look in the mirror after you’ve had a baby because your stomach is hanging there like a Shar-Pei.” And the 41-year-old insists that even she is affected by the media’s pressure on women to be beautiful. She adds, “Even I don’t wake up looking like Cindy Crawford. I have fat days, ugly days, blimp days, days that I just feel terrible about myself. I don’t want to have to be beautiful all the time. “I want to be able to look cruddy in my weekend sweats, with a pimple on my face and pimple cream on top of the pimple. The expectation to be beautiful always bothers me.”

[From Contact Music]

Cindy Crawford is the only supermodel I’ve ever really loved. She is crazy smart with a great head on her shoulders – in both senses of the world. Seriously, when she has to defend her body, something is just wrong with the world. I’m not going to post the stomach photos here, you can find them on the Daily Mail’s website. They captioned one of the photos “Motherhood has taken its toll on the supermodel.” 98% of us would be lucky to look like Cindy Crawford on her worst day. Let’s spend a little more time praising and a little less time criticizing.
