Naomi Watts had a baby boy Wednesday at 3:59 p.m. in Los Angeles. Alexander Pete Schreiber weighed in at 8lb, 4oz, and 22 1/2 inches long. He is the first child for Watts, 38, and her boyfriend Liev Schreiber, 39.

While most everyone assumed she was past her due date, Life & Style quotes an insider who says that the baby was actually early:

“Naomi was planning on giving birth next week– her due date was early August — but since she insisted on delivering naturally, she knew there was a chance she would have the baby before the due date. That’s what wound up happening.”

Naomi’s rep say they’re “doing great” and that the new parents are “ecstatic.” Congratulations to Naomi and Liev, that’s great news and we can’t wait to see their new arrival!

Naomi Watts looks like she’s ready to have her baby any day now. I was big like that, although I was a lot heavier than she is while in the late stages of pregnancy, and my son was two weeks late and weighed almost nine pounds. Her boyfriend Liev Schreiber said they don’t want to know the sex of their baby and that they want to wait to find out until the birth.

Is it a decent guess to say she’s having a boy because she’s big or is it hard to tell? I had one waiter tell me he could tell I was having a boy because my face had changed or something. I think that was a nice way of saying I was fat.

Stars don’t let the world know exactly when they’re due because they want some privacy. I wish I had kept my due date a secret too since people bugged me a lot in the 14 days I waited for my son to arrive after he was due. Due dates are just an estimation, and from what I remember reading first babies are often “late.”

I was calling Naomi Watts pregnant after last year’s Oscars so it’s hard to tell with her, but reader Millie pointed out to me that she’s wearing loose dresses lately and that her boobs are getting big. Things seem to be going well with her boyfriend Liev Schreiber, and Naomi has made no secret of the fact that she wants to start a family. Could she be pregnant? Well, she could. There definitely seems to be something going on under that dress. She could also just be favoring loose dresses, so we’ll have to see.

Naomi is shown at the MontBlanc night of stars on Friday, February 2 in Chamonix, France. She is also seen in a blue dress at the Golden Globes on January 15th, where she is posing a bit defensively with her clutch held over her stomach.

I know this is my second Liv Tyler post today, but she’s just so likable that I want to hug her every time I see her picture, kind of like Jennifer Garner or Jennifer Love Hewitt. Here she is at the opening night of the Metropolitan Opera hobnobbing with Naomi Watts, David Bowie, and his wife Iman. She was also photographed with with an opera-type guy that I need some help identifying designer Zac Posen.

I love these pictures of Liv as she just exudes enthusiasm. I once saw her kiss David Bowie’s hand when she met him on David Letterman. She was just showing her respect, and it came off as innocent and reverential.

Celebrities were in attendance at the opening night of The Met, where they watched a riveting performance of “Madame Butterfly”:

I’ll use this occasion to tell the story of the time my husband took me to the Metropolitan Opera. It was just two weeks after we started dating, and he had tickets to see a six hour long German opera, “The Meistersinger of Nuernberg,” with his parents. He took me along and we played footsies the whole time. I mean, the opera was beautiful and all but it could have easily been two hours instead of six. There were two intermissions it was so long. After sitting through that I can easily take on a four hour opera, so maybe he was just breaking me in.

Naomi Watts doesn’t look even a little bit pregnant - or bloated for that matter, in a bikini off the coast of Italy. Before I’m accused of nitpicking, I’m mentioning this because Naomi was rumored to be pregnant a few weeks ago, which can be attributed to all the loose tops she’s been wearing and certainly not her figure. She is in Ischia, Italy with her boyfriend of over a year, actor Liev Schreiber, for the Global Film Festival.

Naomi Watts, 37, is now on pregnancy watch, and it’s largely due to the loose tops and ill-fitting dresses she’s worn out to recent events. She’s been on pregnancy watch since wearing two different frilly dresses with tummy coverage to the Oscars. We were even declaring her pregnant after she wore a poncho to the Tribeca film festival in late April.

Then we saw some high-res photos of Naomi in a sheer, but loose top in mid-May. You could see her stomach through it and it was flat.

Watts may just be wearing loose tops because they’re in style. Reese Witherspoon was called pregnant after she was seen in some loose clothing and it turns out that wasn’t true at all.

Watts has made some comments that she’d like to start a family, though, and Australian reports have her pregnant already:

If she is pregnant it’s very soon along. She was photographed playing tennis on June 18th. Her top was pulling up and she did not have a stomach, although it’s a little hard to tell. She was seen at the MacBeth In The Park 2006 Summer Benefit on June 28th in an empire-waist dress, which surely helped feed the rumors.

We really doubt it’s true, although we hope it happens soon for her and Liev if they are indeed trying.

Reader Millie let me know that Lang was not gracious about the latest remake of “King Kong” after having starred in the other remake from 1976. Nicole Kidman had Keith Urban sign a prenup in preparation for their wedding this weekend that gives him a relatively paltry portion of Kidman’s fortune. Kidman is said to be worth $150 million dollars, but she’ll only surrender $600k a year to her groom-to-be if they get divorced. If he drinks a lot or does drugs, he gets nothing:

The most interesting part of this article is the mention of Zellweger and Chesney’s on-again relationship. If this is true, I would like to see pictures. Zellweger manages to avoid the paparrazi, and she was rumored to be seeing Chesney briefly after their high profile divorce. She deserves someone who will pay more attention to her, though, and if the rumors about Chesney are true it’s possible they’re just friends.

Kidman has taken smart precautionary measures for her wedding to an ex-drug addict, although it might actually last and we hope things work out for them.

Although Kidman’s “hen party” wasn’t too exciting, Naomi Watts was in town to party with her prior to the wedding, and it looks like they had a little bit to drink. Liev Screiber, Julia Stiles, and Mia Farrow star in “The Omen,” a remake of the 1976 horor film about a little kid who’s the devil incarnate.

This looks creepy as hell and you couldn’t pay me to see this. (Unless it was three figures, then I’d go and cover my eyes.)

At the screening of “The Omen” last night in NY, Watts is wearing a loose-fitting dress, but I don’t think she’s pregnant unless it’s early on. In some HQ photographs that came out a couple of weeks ago you can see her stomach through a sheer top and it’s flat.

Naomi Watts has not been seen out in a form-fitting top in ages, and we’ve been guessing she’s pregnant. She even wore a loose top to the press conference announcing her new role as an AIDS envoy for the UN.

Reader Millie, a Naomi Watts expert, has said that she doesn’t think Watts is pregnant.

We got all excited when we saw this People Startracks photo today, (inset) because it really looks like Naomi has a baby bump.

It turns out the wind was just blowing her top out, because when you look at the HQs you can see her stomach through the fabric and it’s perfectly flat. She doesn’t seem to be wearing an engagement ring, which Schreiber was rumored to have bought her, either. Oh well.

Watts is still with Liev Schreiber, though, and they look quite happy together. That’s something.

Naomi Watts’ Oscar attire included a ripped dress and a flouncy ruffled number that may have been a misguided attempt to hide a growing baby bump. (Yes, we said this already, but a little repetition never hurts.)

Now she was spotted out at the Tribeca film fest with her boyfriend, Liev Shreiber, wearing a full-out poncho with horizontal stripes! Her face looks more filled out too.

Schreiber is said to have bought Watts a 5 carat engagement ring at jeweler Neil Lane. Watts kept her hands conspicuously in her pockets while these pictures were taken, and it’s hard to see if she’s wearing a ring.

Watts and Schreiber have been plagued by rumors that their relationship is in trouble, with The NY Daily News reporting that Schreiber is controlling and that both were looking for new partners. Reader Millie points out that The NY Daily News doesn’t like Schreiber and that they “never fail to take a stab at him.” She thinks that Watts and Schreiber each had a difficult childhood and are having trouble adjusting to a long-term stable relationship. Watt’s friend Nicole Kidman also looks pregnant and may already be married to her boyfriend, Keith Urban. Sources say that the Kidman and Urban are planning a June wedding in their native Australia, but we think they’re already married.
