Nick Cannon hospitalized for “mild” kidney failure, Mariah makes it all about her

Nick Cannon is in the hospital! Mariah Carey is making it all about her! Of course. Anyway, Nick is apparently in an Aspen hospital with “mild” kidney failure, a diagnostic term I am unfamiliar with. Isn’t it just kidney failure or NOT kidney failure? Is there a “mild” form of it? Mariah tweeted the above photo of Nick in his hospital bed. Of course Mariah is draped on him. Because when your kidneys are failing, you really want you wife to make it all about HER. I mean, I love Mariah and everything, but please, Mimi, let Nick have it. Let him have a day where it’s all about him. Here’s what Mariah had to say:

This is us in the hospital – role reversal; Last year it was me attached to the machines (after having dembabies) and Nick was there with me through it, and now here we are.

We’re trying to be as festive as possible under the circumstances but please keep Nick in your thoughts because this is very painful. They tried to kick me out of the hospital but here I am pon de bed with Mr. C.

We’re doing OK but we’re “straaaaaanded in Aspen”. #DramaticDivaPlace (I know, we could be in a lot worse places) but the truth is as long as we’re together, we’re OK. I’m not trying to make light out of the situation because it’s a serious moment that’s very tough on all of us so please keep us and our family in your prayers. LYM.

[From Mariah’s website]

I don’t get the whole “stranded in Aspen” thing. It’s not really “stranded” if Mariah is simply staying with her husband who apparently needed emergency medical care, right? Aspen does have qualified doctors and surgeons, yes? Whatever. Prayers for Nick. He’s going to need them. Kidney failure is no joke, however “mild.”

Mariah Carey & Nick Cannon debut Roc & Roe: how cute are dem babies?

mariah1

I can’t even start with this. Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon debuted “dem babies” on 20/20 Friday night, and now we have access to 20-million photos of these babies. Instead of being in midst of a massive eye-roll twitch, I’m fully prepared to gush about how beautiful and amazing the babies are, and how proud I am of Nick and Mariah. Seriously, y’all! Dem babies are gorgeous, and I like that Mariah and Nick waited a while for the debut, and that once Roc and Roe finally came out, we now get to see lots of adorable pics of them. You can see ABC’s slideshow here, and here’s a “Dem Babies” website devoted to photos of Roe and Roc.

Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon’s babies are ready for their close-ups!

The star couple’s 6-month-old twins, Moroccan and Monroe Cannon, made their TV debut on 20/20 Friday night during an interview their parents gave to Barbara Walters.

Along with the joy and pride of being a first-time mom, Carey, who told Walters she does not want to have more children, spoke about her difficult pregnancy.

“I don’t think I understood the enormity or the magnitude of what it really does to your body,” she explained. “It’s not just, oh you don’t look pretty and you have a bump.”

But parenthood certainly seems to suit the couple. “My family gives me everything,” Cannon gushed.

“It’s just love,” Carey said. “It’s a beautiful place to be.”

While dad expects Moroccan and Monroe “to get a PhD,” Carey suggested that she wants them to follow in her footsteps. “They really respond to music,” she said, before singing to the babies in their Manhattan nursery.

Lullabies may come easy for Carey – who brought them into the world to the tune of her song “Fantasy” – but opening herself up to marriage again was a different story.

“I never believe that anybody really likes me,” she admitted after Cannon – who showed off his huge “Mariah” tattoo on his back – told her she’s been his crush from day one. “I always think it’s some kind of joke or something.”

While Carey doesn’t specifically address her music mogul ex-husband, Tommy Mottola, she does say that her failed marriage in 1998 made her hesitant to say “I do” a second time.

“Initially I was afraid of the concept of marriage [again],” she said. “But this is a different situation and a different time in my life.”

Now, Carey insists, “No one will steal my spirit.”

[From People]

Of course the babies entered the world hearing their mother sing. Of course. Of course Mariah expects them to be singers. And I continue to be impressed by Nick’s insistence that his kids get an education. As for the state of Mariah and Nick’s marriage… well, they’ve surprised me so far. I hope that they make it in the long run.

Oh, and this is maybe the BEST PHOTO EVER. Yes, Mariah is already draping Monroe in diamonds. OF COURSE.

Nick Cannon says Monroe & Moroccan will NOT be allowed to have showbiz careers

wenn5684848

I usually don’t have an opinion on Nick Cannon. I think he and Mariah Carey work in some strange way, and I’ve been vaguely surprised that they continue to make it as a couple. But I generally thing of Nick as simply one of Mariah’s accessories – like, he doesn’t have his own personality or anything, he needs Mariah to make him complete as a man and as a celebrity. I’m not saying my general feeling is right or true, just that he’s sort of bland without Her Royal Butterfly. But this interview has made me like Nick. This interview has made me think that Nick is surprisingly ballsy – because when Mariah hears about this, she’s going to be PISSED.

Nick Cannon wants to keep the number of celebrities in his household to a minimum.

The America’s Got Talent host, 30, says he will “absolutely not” let his 4½-month-old twins, Moroccan and Monroe, follow in the famous footsteps of him and wife Mariah Carey.

“I just want them to strive for something greater than entertainment,” Cannon told PEOPLE backstage after Wednesday’s AGT’s season finale. “I’m one of those believers in teachers, professors, heart surgeons. That’s what I’m rooting for. If I could get a scientist, that’d be amazing.”

Even though fame isn’t the path Cannon wants his children to take, he says it’s the right road for him and Carey.

“My wife is so understanding because she’s just as busy and just as focused as I am, so it’s kind of like the perfect match,” he says. “I love my career and I love being in entertainment, so it never really feels like an occupation.”

Still, Hollywood isn’t top priority for Cannon. “Being a father and being a husband comes first,” he says.

“Everybody knows I’m obsessed with my wife,” he gushes. “I’m married to Mariah Carey. It doesn’t get better than that. I’d be an idiot to do anything wrong. I worship my wife. Have you seen my back? My back says ‘Mariah Forever.’ “

[From People]

“I just want them to strive for something greater than entertainment. I’m one of those believers in teachers, professors, heart surgeons. That’s what I’m rooting for. If I could get a scientist, that’d be amazing.” I love you, Nick. That’s it – push for education. Push for science and math. Push for engineering. Do you think the whole “my kids won’t be in show business” thing will upset Mariah? I don’t actually think Mariah will push the kids into entertainment, but she’ll probably encourage their inner butterflies and such. Plus, at least one of them probably has a good singing voice, right?

And here’s that HSN video, just because.

Did Selita Ebanks call Nick Cannon poorly endowed?

wenn3444591
I’ve never heard an interview with model Selita Ebanks before. I know she was Kanye West’s muse for a while (and she still might be), I know she’s hooked up with some high profile guys including Gerard Butler (maybe), and Nick Cannon and I know her fashion is usually a miss. But other than that I don’t really know much about her, except that she has a banging figure and is gorgeous. Well Popeater’s Rob Shuter has a new interview with her, and all I could think after watching it was “what a bitch.” She doesn’t bother to be gracious at all when she volunteers that kissing Diddy (for Hawaii 5-O) wasn’t that great. Then when Shuter asks her about kissing Nick Cannon and if he had a nice d*ck she just says “eh” like she’s trying to be funny but really just can’t be bothered giving a diplomatic response. Here’s a link to the video.

So is that rude or was she just trying to be funny? If Shuter had asked first how it was to kiss Diddy and she said “eh” like that, I think it would be fine. As it is she just wants it to be known that it wasn’t tolerable to have to kiss him for a scene. Have you ever heard an actor or actress say that? Usually they either compliment the person or say that it was awkward because of the cameras, they don’t put down their co-star. Maybe Diddy hit on her though or was a jerk to her or something. As for an ex, wouldn’t you say “no comment” or “it was nice while it lasted” or something? It just seems bitchy.

It turns out that Selita sounds even worse in the extended interview. The title of this article is: “Selita Ebanks Talks Nick Cannon’s Tiny Male ‘Talent,‘” but they don’t back it up with any quotes where she says anything like that. I don’t think she actually called Nick’s member small and it seems like the title for the article is based on her saying “eh” over and over again. The rest of the stuff she’s quoted as saying sounds snotty.

Selita Ebanks Talks Nick Cannon’s Tiny Male ‘Talent’
Mariah Carey isn’t known for keeping secrets but one thing she has managed to keep under wraps are the intimate details of her husband’s privates — until now. Supermodel Selita Ebanks, who was engaged to the “America’s Got Talent” host in 2007, visited my HDNet talk show “Naughty But Nice Rob” and told all.

“I mean I technically wore a ring but I don’t think I was really engaged,” Ebanks tells me of her relationship with Cannon. “I want a Prince. I want Prince Harry. Do you think the queen would accept me?”

And as far as kissing she gives Cannon a “meh” but was less enthusiastic about his other, most private asset giving it an even less passionate “meh.”

Ebanks, who is now one of the top earning models in the industry, says she knew she was beautiful at just 6 years old. Sitting in front of her mother’s vanity and catching a glimpse of herself she said, “Oh, I could make some money,” and boy was she right. Now she’s making millions, modeling Victoria Secret’s signature Angel wings — which she says protect her.

“Well if you’re an angel those other bitches don’t mess with you,” Ebanks dishes. “Behind the scenes you do hear snide remarks. I’ve heard girls literally talk about another girl in her face, and literally if she had claws she would be minced meat.”

And although she says she doesn’t judge other people, she does has some advice for larger ladies.

“Listen, I love voluptuous women, what bothers me is when they wear spandex. Don’t wear spandex ladies if you are over size 16. Just because it comes in your size does not mean it’s for you. As women we can wear whatever we want, be sexy but just know the difference, everything has a time and place.”

[From Huffington Post]

Well, I guess I know I don’t like her now. Nice that she’s so concerned about how larger women look in spandex. Selita just wants to help people, she’s not at all like those models she mentioned who snark on and attack each other.

(Note: The newest photo of Selita is the one above where she went back to her dark hair color. She looks ridiculous with this two tone hair, below.)

Could Mariah Carey’s fears about husband Nick destroy their marriage?

fp_5822844_cannon_nick_pod_01_04

Mariah Carey seems really out of sorts since the birth of her twins, Monroe and Moroccan, with husband Nick Cannon. One only need to witness a few minutes of her recent HSN appearance to see the evidence of said loopiness. It’s not entirely Mariah’s fault, of course. As we recently from Tilda Swinton, the reality of becoming a mother is such a huge adjustment, and Mariah (being Mariah) probably romanticized the experience so much in her head that she thought babies arrived with translucent butterfly wings and pooped an endless stream of glitter. If you factor in post-pregnancy hormones and all of the associated “feeling fat” aspects of new motherhood, it’s enough to drive a girl more than a little bit batty. And, if this story from The Enquirer is to be believed, Mariah might also be feeling quite paranoid about her husband Nick Cannon’s marital loyalty:

A devastating cheating secret is threating to destroy the marriage of new parents Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon, say insiders.

Insiders say the 42-year-old diva fears that Nick — who earned a reputation as a womanizer before marrying Mariah — might be secretly angling to hook up with beautiful 27-year-old “America’s Got Talent” competitor Lys Agnes.

Mariah and Nick, the 30-year-old host of the popular NBC talent show, ahve been plagued by reports of disagreements have have rocked their three-year marriage.

What’s more, pals say the singer is “still feeling insecure about her excess baby weight” after giving birth to the couple’s twins on April 30, and she is “almost beside herself with worry that Nick could stray,” revealed an insider.

“I think she fears Nick’s wandering eye — once a cheater, always a cheater — and she zeroes in on his infatuation with gorgeous Lys.

“Nick Raves about her constantly and talks about the fact that Lys’ voice is nearly as beautiful as hers. He makes comments about how Lys reminds him of a young Mariah. Meanwhile, Mariah’s struggling to shed her baby weight. She feels unattractive and needs more TLC from Nick. But it’s as if he’s too caught up in Lys and his show to even notice!”

Lys, who currently works in retail, quit singing for two years after her fiance was tragically killed in a car accident. But now she’s become an “America’s Got Talent” favorite, performing soaring versions of opera classics.

Nick seems to be the Denver-based beauty’s biggest fan.

“I think Mariah has always been uncomfortable with his Lothario reputation and worries more than ever that he might be tempted into the arms of another woman.”

Mariah’s fear over Nick’s attraction to Lys comes at a terrible time — when pressures on the married couple’s relationship are mounting, say insiders.

“Mariah and Nick seem to be struggling under a mountain of problems,” said the close source.

“They’re both adjusting to the demands of new parenthood – and Nick’s escape from all the stress is his work. Meanwhile, I think Mariah is feeling old and overweight, and she’s almost consumed with fears that Nick isn’t as interested in her as he once was. Their once-fairytale romance is in danger of unraveling because of Mariah’s fears and insecurities.”

[From Enquirer, print edition, August 22, 2010]

A lot of this story sounds like made-up garbage, for only a true schmuck would tell his wife about the so-called “younger version of herself” (like, say, Chris Martin). Although Nick does indeed have a past reputation of being a ladies man, I have a hunch that he’s quite infatuated with his new role as father and husband. Furthermore, he really seems to worship the notoriously carpeted ground that Mariah walks upon and would probably swim through shark-infested waters just to bring her a bottle of Pellegrino.

fp_4380419_golden_globes_fp_80_129

After all, for the past three years, Nick has acted as if he hit the jackpot when he found Mariah, and I’m not even intentionally referring to her bank account, but there’s also that unavoidable consideration as well. Does anyone really think he’d give all of that up (and probably his twins too) just for a go at this? I don’t think so.

Nick Cannon: Baby Moroccan is “a tough guy” with muscles

wenn3408825

This is one of the weirdest things I’ve ever read from a new parent attempting to describe his or her babies. Nick Cannon was at some event last night in NYC, and he was asked by the press what life was like with little Moroccan and Monroe. Two outlets got a series of odd comments about the seven-week-old infants:

Nick Cannon had his and Mariah Carey’s 8-week-old twin babies on his mind at the Mercedes-Benz Manhattan opening on Tuesday night.

“My son is a tough guy,” he told us of Moroccan Scott. “He doesn’t cry, he’s already got muscles, so Moroccan was a perfect name for him.”

He seemed to be comparing his daughter, Monroe, to his wife.

“Monroe’s a diva. She always has to get her way, and she loves being held,” he said.

“My son is laid back like me,” Cannon, 30, told Us Weekly Tuesday at the Mercedes-Benz Gala opening in NYC. “My daughter’s a diva like her mom!”

How can the first-time dad tell already that his baby girl is a diva? “When my daughter wants something, she’ll let you know immediately,” he laughed. “With [our son], you kind of feed him when you get around to it, and he’s okay with that.”

The America’s Got Talent host said he and Carey, 42, split diaper duty pretty evenly. But Carey is much better at the dirty task! “My diapers tend to leak,” Cannon admitted.

So just how is Cannon’s Grammy-winning wife adjusting to motherhood? “She’s amazing,” he gushed. “She’s the best mother ever.”

[From Us Weekly and Page Six]

They’re six weeks old! And Moroccan is deemed “a tough guy” with “muscles”? The most bizarre? “…So Moroccan was a perfect name for him!” What does that mean? How many dudes named Moroccan are there, and are they all tough guys with bulging muscles, even when they’re infants? Moroccan better grow up to a be a tough kid, though. You know he’s going to be teased like crazy for that name. Maybe he’ll just go by “Rocky”? “MO-Rocky”?

As for Monroe being a diva like her mom… yes, expected that. I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Mariah Carey & Nick named their babies: Monroe & Moroccan!

wenn2657386

We finally know the baby named for Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon’s twins. They are (drum roll)…. Moroccan Scott (for the boy) and Monroe Cannon. Little Monroe doesn’t get a middle name, because Mariah doesn’t have a middle name, and she didn’t want her daughter to have one either. I don’t have a middle name either, but I do have an Indian nickname that my family uses that I HATE, so kudos to Mariah and Monroe. Here’s the explanation behind the names:

Mariah Carey and her husband Nick Cannon have finally revealed the names of their twins who were born in Los Angeles on Saturday.

Their son is named Moroccan Scott Cannon, with the nickname “Roc”. Scott is Nick’s middle name, as well as his grandmother’s maiden name.

The top tier of Mariah’s New York City apartment is called the Moroccan Room, because of the Moroccan-inspired decor. It’s also the place where Nick proposed to his wife, overlooking Manhattan!

Their daughter’s name is Monroe Cannon. Mariah’s rep says she does not have a middle name because Mariah herself does not have one. Monroe was named after Marilyn Monroe, who has been an inspiration to Mariah her whole life.

In fact, Mariah purchased the Hollywood icon’s white piano from Christie’s auction house and it is in Mariah’s will that the piano will one day go to the Smithsonian.

Mariah’s rep, Cindi Berger, tells CNN, “It has been a long, emotional journey for this family, and I couldn’t be happier for all of them.”

[From CNN]

Oh, I had forgotten that Mariah has Marilyn’s piano. For some reason, that makes it a little bit better, although I generally hate the trend of naming your baby after a long-dead celebrity. No Peck Cannon or James Dean Cannon, and please, nothing with Marilyn Monroe. But whatever. As for Moroccan… UGH. True, it’s totally not as bad as it could be (Sparklepony Blueberry Razzle Cannon), but it still kind of sucks. Poor babies.

Did Mariah Carey schedule a C-section for her third anniversary?

wenn5400439

We still don’t have the baby names, so I’m just sticking with Princess Sparkle Glitter and Blueberry Cannon. Princess and Blueberry were born on Saturday, as I already wrote about on the day of. It turns out that the twins’ birthday was Mariah and Nick’s third wedding anniversary (they were married in 2008), The High Holy Day of Sparkle Glitter Pony Butterfly Action. Many people thought that Mariah had scheduled a C-section for their anniversary, just to be cute or whatever, and perhaps to distract from the royal wedding stuff. According to Mariah’s rep Cindi Berger, not so much: “No, not even Mariah could plan that. I spoke to both of them… and they are both completely overjoyed.”

Nick’s version of events seem to indicate that this was less a planned C-section and more like Mariah going into labor and Nick rushing her to the hospital. According to Nick (and Mariah’s rep), Nick rushed Mariah to the hospital in their Rolls-Royce Phantom and both Mariah and Nick assumed it was another false labor incident. Also, apparently Nick was so nervous that “he went to the wrong unit in the hospital, and had to be guided to the maternity ward by a nurse.”

After the births (the girl was born first!), Nick tweeted: “My wife just gave me the most incredible anniversary gift ever in life! I won’t ever be able to top this! I’m in the happiest place I’ve ever been in my life. I never had more amazing things happening. I am humbled by God’s Favor!”

And that’s not all! It seems that after Mariah gave birth, Rev. Al Sharpton came to the hospital and renewed Mariah and Nick’s vows. FOR REAL.

It’s been a busy week for Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon! One day after the singer, 42, gave birth to twins, the couple renewed their wedding vows with a hospital ceremony conducted by Rev. Al Sharpton on Sunday.

“We just had a wedding in the hospital!” Cannon, 30, confirmed via Twitter.

“Mariah looks great, and the babies are beautiful,” Sharpton, 56, added. “I am so moved by the sincere spiritual commitment of Mariah and Nick. They have not let success separate them from God. I am so proud.”

According to Carey’s rep, the baby girl was born first, weighing 5 pounds, 3 ounces, measuring 18 inches long; her brother followed, weighing 5 pounds 6 ounces, and was 19 inches. Carey and Cannon have not yet named their children.

[From Us Weekly]

It’s just too, too, TOO MUCH. But that’s Mariah. And God bless her. I’m really and truly happy for Mariah and Nick, and I’m so glad the babies are healthy and everything. I tend to believe that Mariah went into labor rather than went in for a scheduled C-section. I think if Mariah was going to schedule it, she would have made sure the hospital was painted pink and that there was a swarm/rabble/flutter/kaleidoscope of butterflies in the delivery room.

Mariah Carey gave birth to her twins today, no names yet!

mariahheader

Yay! Mariah Carey gave birth to her twins just a few short hours ago. Guess what today is? Mariah and Nick’s anniversary! Only Mariah’s uterus would have it planned this way. Now Nick and Mariah get to celebrate their love all over the place on April 30! Aw, I’m really, really happy for Mariah and Nick and the babies. I love the way Mariah handled her pregnancy publicly, although I know not everybody enjoyed her TMI. I thought it was wonderful – she wanted us to celebrate. So, YAY!

April 30 is double the pleasure for Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon. Not only did they welcome twins, but the couple celebrated their fourth wedding anniversary, too!

Carey, 41, delivered the babies Saturday at 12:07 p.m. EDT at an undisclosed hospital in Los Angeles. Carey’s representative, Cindi Berger, confirmed the births to The Associated Press, saying the baby girl was born first, weighing 5 pounds, 3 ounces, and was 18 inches long; her brother was next, at 5 pounds 6 ounces, and was 19 inches.

And it was just as Cannon predicted. “I’m not trying to be a psychic, but we renew our vows every year so … It’s probably going to be in the hospital this year. I can feel it,” Cannon said Thursday when he guest-hosted The Talk. “We got the minister coming in, so this gown will not be a wedding gown, but a hospital gown.”

Berger says they were listening to Carey’s “We Belong Together” after the children were born.

Long before the births, the couple made no secret of their desire to have children. Last October when they first made Carey’s pregnancy public, Cannon said that “the greatest gift on earth is a child.”

Throughout Carey’s pregnancy, the parents-to-be were cautious about revealing too many personal details since the couple had a “long journey” to parenthood, Cannon said in December.

That the singer was expecting twins was chattered about for months before Cannon finally confirmed it in December.

As for the origin of their babies’ names, Cannon told PEOPLE in January that the couple had aimed for unique but not wacky. “They won’t be crazy names like Carburetor or something,” he promised. “But they’re definitely unique.”

[From People]

Well, congratulations to them, and I can’t wait to hear the names. You know that Mariah’s idea of a “not wacky” name is totally different than our idea. Fingers crossed for some variation of Sparklepony, Blueberry, Princess Glitter, Nickalicious, Butterfly Sequin and/or various gemstones. Ruby, Sapphire (for a boy), Diamond, Aquamarine, Emerald, Garnet, whatever. Congrats, MIMI!!

Mariah Carey’s over the top nursery in Life & Style: do you care?

mariahheader
So Mariah Carey gave Life & Style exclusive access to her nursery, all decked out and ready for the royal twins to grace it with their presence. Normally this would rate a full cover, but instead Mariah is on the sidebar and the unsurprising news of the latest bachelor breakup gets higher billing. That’s kind of sad for Mariah, only I bet her Life & Style cover didn’t sell that well, and we just saw Nick clutching her pregnant boobs on the cover of OK! UK. She’s overexposed in several meanings of the word and people are kind of shrugging at her at this point.

I mean I wish her well and everything, and I’ll coo over those babies when they arrive, but this is the route Mariah should have been going all along – show the nursery, give an interview fully clothed saying she’s looking forward to being their mom. Instead she’s overselling, getting half naked and talking to every outlet like a Kardashian. I get it, she’s excited, and I bet that Nick has a lot to do with this because he has that radio show and is just a very affable, talk to the press kind of guy. She needs to give it a rest already, though. Here’s some of what she told In Touch:

Soon, Mariah Carey won’t be the only one wailing high notes at home! Mariah and husband Nick Cannon give Life & Style an exclusive first peek at their newborns’ breathtaking nurseries—one in their luxe Bel-Air, Calif., estate and the other at their NYC apartment! Both rooms are filled with comfy chairs, plush stuffed animals and the parents-to-be’s personal touch!

“I wanted to create a beautiful, tranquil, cozy environment for the babies,” Mariah tells Life & Style in an exclusive interview. “Everything matches, but pieces are individualized to celebrate the twins as separate entities.”

Separate — but equally glam! “Designing the LA nursery with Gail Sedigh of AFK Furniture and world-famous decorator Mario Buatta was so challenging because I had such specific ideas I wanted implemented. I feel like I’m bringing two individuals into the world, so I wanted to do more than cookie-cutter styles in blue and pink.” And dad Nick agrees. He wanted the twins’ side-by-side cribs accented with pink and green bedding instead of the traditional pink and blue.

Mariah’s favorite part of the twins’ LA nursery? The cloudscape, star-speckled ceiling. “The ceiling has orangey-pink clouds in a blue sky with golden stars twinkling. It’s based on two songs I wrote that are fan favorites: ‘Underneath the Stars’ and ‘Close My Eyes,’” Mariah tells Life & Style. “Sometimes I just sit in the nursery and stare at the ceiling because I love it so much. To me, it symbolizes wanting my children to dream as big as possible and to let their imaginations be unbridled.” Mariah also incorporated her favorite winged insects, butterflies, into the nursery and super-soft stuffed-animal lambs, what the singer endearingly calls her fans.

Mariah has also been busy coordinating a nursery for the twins at her NYC apartment. “I prefer the East Coast schooling over the West Coast,” Nick tells Life & Style. “But there are other things that come into play, like work.”

While Mariah has enjoyed her pregnancy, she and Nick are certainly ready for the arrival of their son and daughter! “Being a mother is probably the hardest job in the world. I feel like, in a lot of ways, children come into the world to teach us,” Mariah says. “It’s going to be a delicate balance between raising them around glitz and glamour and keeping them grounded. One thing I’m sure of is that I’ll be grateful for the twins every day, no matter what.”

[From Life & Style received via e-mail]

Why is Mariah hustling so much? She’s reminding me of J.Lo a little, in that she has to tout her lifestyle to afford that lifestyle. I mean I know she’s made millions as a recording artist and from her perfumes but does anyone else get the sense that she’s overextended?

Maybe she’s just really overjoyed to share every detail with her fans, though. She also seems to be in a very stable relationship with a guy who adores her. Nick just gushed about her for the umpteeth time, telling PeopleI’m in awe of my wife. She is the most beautiful, strong person I’ve ever met. Seeing her go through this and have to literally just relinquish everything that she’s always been, and sacrifice her being for her children, is just the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen.” I never expected these two to last this long and now they’re going to become parents. Good for them, but they should still tone it down a little. Nothing they do is understated on any level. Look their nursery has a little chandelier in it and mini placesettings for two. That tiny table just slays me.
