Where is Nicole Kidman’s tummy?

For five months along, Nicole Kidman sure is doing a good job of hiding her growing stomach. Especially because it seems from these pictures that she’s not trying to hide it at all. Nicole is supposedly five months along. I am no pregnancy expert, but I had no idea a person could have such a small stomach at that point. That’s what J-Lo looked like 48 hours after conception. I have don’t know what’s going on here, but something is fishy. Nicole was out and about promoting her film “The Golden Compass” in Japan. Depending on who you believe, the film supposedly promotes atheism.

“These books denigrate Christianity, thrash the Catholic Church and sell the virtues of atheism,” asserted [Bill Donohue, president and CEO] of Catholic League, who earlier this month called on Christians to boycott the movie.”

[From the Christian Post]

Interestingly, Nicole said that both of her children, who are being raised as Scientologists by ex-husband Tom Cruise, have seen the film. One would think this could cause quite the parental skirmish between the former spouses. Though Scientologists aren’t Christians, many say that the film promotes atheism on the whole. However it should also be mentioned that Nicole has said she considers herself Catholic, and yet she starred in the film.

In the story, a malevolent governing body called “the Church,” which answers to the “Vatican Council,” is known to kidnap children for experimentation. With the help of a golden compass that reveals a coded answer to any question asked by the user, Lyra, by the trilogy’s end, gets to the bottom of the missing children and kills a character called “God.”

[From the Christian Post]

“The Golden Compass” sounds very interested and complicated – surprisingly so for a children’s movie. Nicole said both her kids have seen it, and she’s glad to make a kid’s movie once in a while.

During the press conference, the five-month pregnant star revealed she had deliberately chosen The Golden Compass script because it’s child-friendly.

She said: “My Bella and Connor are 13 and 15. So they have seen the film and they loved it… my child inside won’t see the film for a long time.”

“But I think once you have children you want to balance the work you do because they give up so much of you to your work. So occasionally you want to make films that they can take their friends to, they can go to the premiere of, that they celebrate.”

[From the Daily Mail]

I can’t help but wonder how much Nicole runs by Tom and visa versa. I would love to know what went on behind closed doors in terms of Connor and Isabella’s religious upbringing. Since her divorce, Nicole has gently said that she considers Scientology to be hogwash, and always did. Her father is a very prominent Australian psychologist, and Scientologists are famously opposed to psychiatry. However her kids were obviously already being raised as such, so whether due to Tom’s insistence or Nicole’s acquiescence, their kids still go to Scientology camp every summer. It’s hard not to wonder if “The Golden Compass” got them thinking. Reading about it has gotten me thinking too. Though I’m still mostly thinking about Nicole Kidman’s confusing lack of visible stomach.

Nicole Kidman is shown at a press conference for The Golden Compass in Tokyo yesterday.

Nicole Kidman’s rep confirms pregnancy

We were wrong about the state of Nicole Kidman’s womb - she is pregnant, according to her rep and is predictably “thrilled.” Congratulations to Nicole and Keith:

Nicole Kidman and husband Keith Urban are expecting their first child, her rep confirms.

“The couple are thrilled,” Catherine Olim says in a statement.

For Kidman, this will be her third child. She and her former husband, Tom Cruise adopted two children during their marriage: Isabella, now 15, and Connor, 12.

As for where Kidman and Urban, who will be a first-time parent, may bring up their impending arrival, the couple, though both from Down Under, purchased a farm near Leipers Fork, Tenn., a half-hour southwest of Nashville, in 2007.

[From People.com]

I was such a skeptic about those pregnancy reports as the gossip rags were getting to be like the boy who cried that the famous frozen-faced lady was pregnant over and over again, but this is wonderful news for Nicole. I hope everything goes perfect for her with her pregnancy and upcoming baby. She has spoken so frequently about wanting a baby and it’s so nice to hear her dreams have come true.

Nicole was photographed out looking happy as she lunched with a group of friends in Sydney on Sunday. I bet she broke the good news to them.

Nicole Kidman is shown on 12/18/07 at a screening of The Golden Compass in Australia for sick children from Sydney Children’s Hospital Randwick. She is also shown on 12/16 at the Sydney premiere of Golden Compass. We already published these photos but they’re the newest ones I have access to where she’s standing up.

Hollywood’s Coldest People 2007

coldestpeople.jpg
While I love any list, particularly a top ten, Film Threat’s list of Hollywood’s Coldest People is one of my absolute favourites.

FILM THREAT’S FRIGID 50: THE COLDEST PEOPLE IN HOLLYWOOD 2007

1. George W. Bush
2. Angelina Jolie
3. Jim Carrey
4. Comedies Not Associated with Judd Apatow
5. Owen Wilson
6. Nicole Kidman
7. Hilary Swank
8. Eli Roth/Torture Porn
9. Jennifer Lopez
10. Jon Heder

While I might have to question George W. Bush’s inclusion on the list, it’s apparently because of his ‘appearances’ in movies like Transformers or TV shows like South Park. Number two Angelina Jolie currently has the number one film in the American box office Beowulf, so it seems particularly bad timing to have her on the most frigid list. Although, have you seen her legs lately? Not hot.

You can check out the full list of 51 on Filmthreat, and the reasons for inclusion, but I have to add that number eleven was Star Wars. I am completely on the anti-Jedi bandwagon. Sci-fi lovers, just because the films were great in the 70’s doesn’t make their prequels good – in fact, it’s like remaking The Dukes of Hazzard or Invasion of the Body Snatchers – perhaps a good idea in theory, but not in practice. Now, commence my stoning to death as I have violated the sacred nature of The Force.

Nicole Kidman may rank high on the coldest people list, but I think she’s hot after she spoke out about the Australian government’s attitude to domestic violence.

“I know why people call violence against women a pandemic.

“It is perhaps the most widespread human rights abuse violation.”

The star called for a greater level of support for victims.

“I urge the Government to do more in relation to victim support services,” she said.

“There needs to be a dramatic increase in counselling services for victims of sexual assault and victims need to be supported better by police and the courts.

“And secondly, there needs to be a huge increase in short and long term accommodation for women and children fleeing domestic violence.

“At the moment, I believe, one in two women who approach a refuge are turned away.”

news.com.au

Now, this might not seem like a big deal, but in Australia celebrities don’t get behind political parties like they do in the United States, and an election is only days away. Voting is compulsory there, probably because Australians care so little about politics if it wasn’t no one would vote at all, and if you didn’t make it law for everyone over 18 to vote you’d have to ambush people on the street and force them into polling booths.

Note by Celebitchy: I wanted to find fictionalized portrayals of George W. Bush, and while Wikipedia has a pretty comprehensive list it wasn’t that easy to dig up clips and photos. I did find one though, a clip from Family Guy of George W Bush showing up for Vietnam.

Family Guy George Bush Misses Vietnam

And here’s a link to a full length clip from the Simpsons Treehouse of Horror VII that first aired in October, 1996 featuring Bill Clinton and Bob Dole. I looked hard for Clinton’s appearance on the “Max Power” episode of the Simpsons where he tells Marge he’ll be in the shed out back just in case, and the one where Lisa tells him he gave a lousy lesson and he says “Well, I’m a pretty lousy president” but this was all I could find. Presidents are always fair game for parody, although I doubt Clinton would have made this coldest list ten years ago. I am striving for neutrality here if it isn’t obvious.

Nicole Kidman says she lost self-identity while married to Tom Cruise

top-cwp-001342.jpg

Nicole Kidman tends to come off as pretty classy (if at times a bit bland) in most of her interviews. Post-divorce, Tom Cruise has come across as an elfin control freak who randomly accuses people of being glib (which is a pretty good way to describe Cruise in general) and promoting pseudo-sciences (again, a pretty good way to describe some Cruise does in general). Nicole hasn’t trashed Tom, but when questions of her marriage to him arise, she manages to make it clear that he squashed her personality. I can’t really explain how, but Nicole seems to still do this in a way that isn’t unseemly. She gave an interview to USA Today in which she talks about how she lost her identity, and how she’s worked on getting it back.

Head’s up, Katie Holmes. In a new interview with USA Today, Nicole Kidman said she lost her self-identity during her nearly 10-year marriage to Tom Cruise because of the couple’s constant traveling. “Tom and I, we moved and moved and moved. Your sense of where do I come from becomes less and less relevant,” said Kidman, 40, who split from Cruise, 45, in 2001 and shares custody of their adopted children Isabella, 14, and Connor, 12.

“A lot of my life, particularly when I was working so much, it was about trying to fill in the gaps,” she added. “Now there’s much more reason to exist in the world without my identity needing to be through work.” She said her life is finally making sense again. “I have a new niece, I have a new marriage, we just bought an acreage in Tennessee, which we’re really happy to build a house on and spend some time doing that,” she said. “I’m just not willing to give up my life with my man anymore.”

Kidman says she and Urban, 40, are “inseparable” (she even plans to hit the road with him on his world tour). “I also like seeing him do what he does,” she said. “He can really play, and he can really sing. I’ll vouch for it.” Kidman said she isn’t as adamant about working so prolifically, either. As for her recent string of box office duds (The Invasion, anyone?), she said she has no regrets. “You always strive to make a good movie,” she said. “Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. You step into something with the best of intentions and you hope. I think that kind of approach to a career, and a life, is the healthiest way to be.”

[From Us Weekly]

I find it really annoying when articles always call her Connor and Isabella her “adopted children” instead of just her children. But that’s neither here nor there. Nicole has been making the publicity rounds lately, and was on the cover of Vanity Fair last month with a long interview. She seems pretty demure and low-key, but also very honest. She talked about Keith Urban’s struggle with drug and alcohol addiction. Before I always thought she came off as sort of an “ice princess” who wouldn’t talk about anything in her life that was less-than-perfect. But she talked about loving someone who has issues, and how they work on it and keep their relationship intact. Nicole said something in the Vanity Fair piece that I thought was remarkably profound. “I kept looking for happiness, and then I realized: This is it. It’s a moment, and it comes, and it goes, and it’ll come back again.” It sounds like she has an optimistic yet realistic outlook.

Nicole Kidman hints at trouble in her marriage, is a diva on set

jtm-030102.jpg
At first I thought that Nicole Kidman must have slipped when she said in a recent interview that she never says she’s happy in her marriage “because interviews are done in advance and you never know where something’s going.” She hinted that she hides a lot, saying that “People’s lives together are complicated and beautiful and that’s what they should stay. They’re very quiet. Complicatedly quiet.”

That’s a weird way of answering a simple question if you’re happy. If you’re happy in your relationship, or a good enough fibber, you might say “Yes, we’re enjoying the first year of our marriage despite some minor setbacks, which managed to bring us closer.” There, now rub your hands together and change the subject to your latest project.

So while I initially thought that Kidman revealed more than intended in that statement, it sounds like she’s trying to prepare the public for something that she suspects might happen but isn’t decided yet. Of course she quickly backtracked afterwards, sounding like a publicist, so it’s hard to tell what her intentions are:

Asked in the November issue of Interview magazine if she is happy with husband Keith Urban, Kidman replies, “I don’t ever say that. Partly because interviews are done in advance and you never know where something’s going. People’s lives together are complicated and beautiful and that’s what they should stay. They’re very quiet. Complicatedly quiet. They don’t need to be broadcast.”

She goes on to clarify: “My husband and I are committed to each other and deeply in love. That’s how I would put it. We’re working on staying in that place, and hopefully we will for the rest of our lives.”

[From People.com]

In the interview in which Kidman made that statement she was talking to the author of The Hours, Michael Cunningham. It’s possible they had a better rapport than is typical or that they were being particularly analytical in the conversation and she was caught off guard.

Star Magazine
has a story this week about how Nicole Kidman is pissing off the crew on the set of the film she’s currently working on, Australia. Star is known for its diva stories, so this is most likely exaggerated, but Kidman is said to act dismissive and rude to people, to never be satisfied with her hair and makeup, and to be super picky about the food she eats.

According to one insider, they all refer to Nicole as “Prima Donna” behind her back because of the alarmingly dismissive way she treats everyone. Everyone, that is, except her husband, country singer Keith Urban.

“Her behavior is seriously Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde,” says the insider. “When Keith’s on the set, Nicole is nice and as sweet as pie. But once he leaves, she becomes angry and yells at the crew when she doesn’t get what she wants or if they’re running behind…”

On one memorable occasion, she felt the shrimp and risotto prepared for her was not as hot as it should be - and she made her thoughts very clear!”

“She was yelling at the craft services people, asking them how she could be expected to eat this food at this temperature…”

Nicole also takes issue with the way the makeup artists make her look. Most of the time, she hates it, says the insider. “She has them redo it constantly. She’ll hold up production because she’ll want her makeup done over and over again.”

[From Star Magazine, print edition, October 29, 2007]

But Nicole changes a lot when Keith is around, the article claims. She is said to act super nice, giggling and holding hands with him when he shows up on set. “People wonder if Keith has any idea how miserable she can really be,” the source says. Maybe they’re both miserable in the relationship and that’s why Nicole is so grumpy all the time, trying to make up for it by being super nice to Keith. She might realize that it’s not working no matter how hard she tries, and she’s providing some vague but revealing quotes for the press to use in the event of their breakup.

Nicole Kidman is shown on 10/7/07 at the NY Film Festival premiere of Margot at the Wedding, thanks to PRPhotos.

Is Nicole Kidman pregnant too?

Maybe I’ve got baby bumps on the brain after spotting what I’m pretty sure is evidence that Cate Blanchett is pregnant with her third child. Looking at these candids of Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban out to dinner in NY City on Saturday, she looks like she has a baby bump to me. In photos of Kidman wearing a striking black v-neck dress at New Line’s 40th Anniversary Gala the night before, she also shows a hint of a bump in her dress.

I’ve been wrong about Nicole Kidman before, and she sometimes looks like she has a tiny little belly, so it could possible be a false alarm. She’s made no secret of the fact that she’s anxious to start a family with Urban, once saying she wanted to be a hippie island mother:

“I’d like to be a mum again. I always thought I’d live on a Fijian island. I love the idea of being in a sarong, with hair down to my bum and kids following me around.”

[From Vogue December, 2006 Interview via US Magazine]

In a recent interview published in the Belfast Telegraph, 40 year-old Kidman repeats the claim that she wants to have biological children soon:

“I always wanted someone to sweep me off my feet and have children with them,” she admits. “To me love was more important to my career every time.”

Last year, she married country music singer Keith Urban and reveals that, although she is already mum to adopted kids Bella (14) and Connor (12), she is keen to have more children.

“I’d love it,” she says wistfully. “I don’t know if it will happen but I’d feel very, very blessed if that was given to me.”

[From Belfast Telegraph]

It’s possible Kidman just has a tiny stomach, I know mine is bigger than that on a good day, but considering how skinny she is would she have a little lower belly like that?

I hope Kidman’s wish comes true and that she gets pregnant if that’s what she’s trying for. Jennifer Lopez is said to pregnant with twins after trying for quite a while, and it seems like the fertility luck is strong for celebrities this year.

Update: I wrote this post before I saw pictures of Kidman at the New York Film Festival screening of Margot at the Wedding last night with Jennifer Jason Leigh. It looks like the bump is more elusive than I thought, but she’s still clutching her purse in front of her like she’s hiding something.

Nicole Kidman Farm Wife, Lenny Kravitz Keeps Quiet On Engagement

Nicole Kidman has kept her mouth shut about who she was engaged to between the demise of her marriage to Tom Cruise and her relationship with Keith Urban. The hot money seems to be on either film producer Steve Bing or rocker Lenny Kravitz, but it seems that we might never know.

When asked whether he was the mystery man, Kravitz replied: “I keep that to myself. I feel like that is private and it’s between the two of us, so I just leave it there.”

Sydney Morning Herald

I so wish she’d kept her mouth shut about that engagement. Because of Nicole and Keith’s connections to Australia and New Zealand, every time they fart the newspapers report on the smell. She is hardly ever revealing in interviews, and this seems like a calculated move to get us all speculating on who the mystery man is.

Nicole, in the same interview with Vanity Fair, revealed that she’d love to have a baby, and that Keith was coming around to the idea. Reports today say that she – rather sensibly – wants to be sure that Keith has kicked his drug habit.

Nicole and Keith have also put their Nashville home on the market and have bought a large block of land where they plan to build what Keith’s rep describes as a farmhouse.

According to Urban’s representative, Paul Freundlich, the loved-up pair are planning to build a farmhouse on their newly acquired block.

“They’ve found land within Nashville, and they’re very excited about moving into their new place,” Freundlich said.

The news came as country sensation Urban flew into Sydney this morning to be reunited with his wife at her lavish Darling Point pile.

Daily Telegraph

I can’t imagine that someone used to a ‘lavish Darling Point pile’ home would move into a farmhouse. The term farmhouse makes me think of a log cabin with only basic amenities. Their former Nashville home was a mansion now on the market for interested buyers. If you’re interested, it should only set you back around $2.5 million.

Picture note by Celebitchy: Nicole Kidman is shown in the upcoming fantasy The Golden Compass, thanks to AllMoviePhoto. The film also stars Daniel Craig and is out in the US on 12/7/07.

Nicole Kidman’s Secret Language

kidmansecretlanguage.jpg
Nicole Kidman is a bit of a special person in the Australian papers, being that she has a property in Sydney and married an Australian, as well as being Aussie herself. But even her home town newspaper seemed a little mystified at this remark.

Nicole - who is godmother to two of Antonia’s four children - said: “We used to have a secret language and all sorts of stuff. No one will ever come between us. We need that love and support from each other, and we’re both willing to give it. She’s grown up all her life with a sister who’s an actress, and she’s been a part of it and held me in her arms when I’ve cried. She’s seen the failures and the successes, and I’ve seen hers.”

Sydney Morning Herald

A secret language? I tried this once with my sister, which was extra complicated as she didn’t have much in the way of language skills at the time, being only three. I’ve also heard of twins developing a language that only they can understand as babies, but since there’s a three year age gap between Antonia and older sister Nicole I suspect that she’s not referring to that kind of language.

Nicole has a very close relationship with her sister, making her first post-divorce public appearances with her, God parenting two of her four children and staying close to her sister during Antonia’s divorce.

Is it just me, or is Nicole getting very upfront in interviews? Revealing past engagements, miscarriages, and talking about her marriage to Tom Cruise? Although, when she gives interviews and talks about Tom she can reveal less about her marriage to Keith Urban. Maybe talking about her past is a really good way of keeping her current marriage a big secret.

Kidman’s VF interview made into anti- Scientology rant by Woman’s Day

null
The new issue of Woman’s Day features a conservative-looking Nicole Kidman on the cover with the headline “I Lost My Kids To Scientology.” Inside the issue, the introductory teaser on the Woman’s Day website says that she talks about how upset she is to not see her children while they are indoctrinated into the cult. It doesn’t seem like she dishes much dirt on Scientology other than saying that her kids would rather spend time with their Scientology teachers in the states rather than visit her.

kidmanlostkidstoscientology.jpgWhen I first read this story, I thought they had a new interview with her, but all they’re doing is rehashing her Vanity Fair interview and spinning to to make it seem like she’s dissing Scientology. They take a quote out of context from the VF interview and magnify it, making it the focus of the story.

They also claim she’s “threatening to reveal the darkest secrets of her marriage to ex-husband Tom Cruise,” but they seem to be referring to a cryptic comment she made in her Vanity Fair interview, in which she talked candidly about a miscarriage early in her relationship with Cruise and said that she might tell the whole story one day:

“From the minute Tom and I were married, I wanted to have babies. And we lost a baby early on, so that was really very traumatic. And that’s when it came that we would adopt Bella. There’s a complicated background to that, given that I never speak much about many things. One day maybe that story will be told.’

[From Vanity Fair, October, 2007 via I’m Not Obsessed]

In her Vanity Fair interview it seems the only thing she really criticizes Scientology for is the way it involves her kids so much that they don’t want to see her. She even says she’s doesn’t want to talk about it much. Women’s Day is making it out to be more than it is, and is misleading people into thinking that they have unique new quotes from Kidman that speak out against the cult when that’s not true at all:

nicolekidman_womensdaycover.jpgNicole Kidman has finally spoken of her anguish over her estrangement from her two Scientology-raised children and her feelings of failure as a mother. She is also threatening to reveal the darkest secrets of her marriage to ex-husband Tom Cruise.

With her adopted kids Isabella, 14, and Connor, 12, preferring to stay in the US with their Scientology minders rather than visit their own mother in Australia, Nicole has alluded to her antipathy towards the controversial religion.

“I don’t want to be the one discussing Scientology,” a wounded Nicole warily told US magazine Vanity Fair when asked about her children’s indoctrination during her latest interview. “My kids want to live in LA and they’re at a certain age where they dig in their heels.”

While Isabella and Connor briefly visited their mum in Australia earlier this year, they have chosen to spend their holidays at a Church of Scientology camp in Oregon.

A former Scientologist says the camp in Portland, where the kids are holed up, is really an intense learning program for Scientology teachings. “The summer camp is part of Scientology’s get-them-while-they’re-young campaign,” says the ex-member…

[Womansday.ninemsn.com via Gossip Rocks]

The quote about the Scientology camp is lifted straight from an article in Star Magazine from September 3, in which it was revealed that Nicole’s children were away at brainwash camp.

I wonder if Kidman has grounds to sue the pants out of Women’s Day for taking her quotes out of context and making it seem like she’s finally talking about Scientology’s negative effect on her family. Her quotes were pretty mild and non-committal.

Nicole Kidman has never really talked much about Scientology except to say that she considers herself Catholic. In 1999, before her split with Tom Cruise, she described herself as “a mishmash of religions… a little Buddhism, a little Scientology.” She left no doubt that her allegiance was not to Scientology, saying “I was raised Catholic and a big part of me is still a Catholic girl.” [Quote found at Catholic.org]

A conflict over Kidman’s commitment to the Scientology cult is said to have hastened the end of her marriage to Cruise.

Scientology is known for threatening, harassing, suing and blackmailing ex-members from speaking out against the cult. A recent suspicious double suicide of a well to do artist couple in NY was said to be influenced in no small part by their well-founded paranoia of Scientology. They spoke at length of the harassment and hounding they claimed to endure from cult members for years.

Kidman has a healthy fear of speaking out out against the cult and she’s got to be scared now that Woman’s Day is twisting her words like this just to sell copies.

Nicole Kidman had a miscarriage early in her relationship with Tom Cruise

kidmanvanityfair.jpg
Nicole Kidman has a very revealing (for her) interview in October’s issue of “Vanity Fair.” The actress talks a bit more in depth about her marriage to Tom Cruise, and confirms some rumors that floated around the time of their divorce. People were always questioning what was “wrong” with their marriage since they never had biological children. That always annoyed the crap out of me – people can choose to adopt for a million reasons, most of them having nothing to do with anything being “wrong.” I think it was more fuel for the “Is Tom Cruise gay?” fire, just like Jamie Lee Curtis adopting was more fuel for the “Is she really a hermaphrodite?” fire. With the adopting doesn’t prove anything, people seem to think it bolsters their case. In Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman’s case, she confirms that she had a miscarriage when she was 23 which devastated her. She met Tom Cruise in 1990, when she was 23, so it was obviously very early in their relationship.

“Nicole Kidman has revealed how early on in her marriage to her ex Tom Cruise she became pregnant and lost the baby due to miscarriage. Kidman has never spoken about the miscarriage until now in her interview with Vanity Fair, and said that it happened when she was 23.

“However, Kidman was so desperate to have a baby that the couple decided to adopt less than two years later. She also admits how she’s wanted a child of her own since she was 17.”

[From the Cleveland Leader]

Nicole makes it clear in the interview that she really loved Tom and was willing to give up a lot to be with him, even if that meant her career. She never comes across as a victim of his reportedly controlling ways though.

“‘My agents told me, “Once you become Mrs. Tom Cruise, you do know your career is going to die,’” says Kidman, who won an Oscar for her portrayal of Virginia Woolf in 2002’s ‘The Hours.’

“‘I was appalled,’ she says. ‘I was like, “Hello? I’m in love, and I don’t care if it’s shooting myself in the foot. I’d much rather be married and have a family.”’

“The couple ‘lost a baby early on, so that was really very traumatic,’ she says. ‘And that’s when it came that we would adopt Bella.’

“Cryptically, she adds: ‘There’s a complicated background to that, given that I never speak much about many things. One day maybe that story will be told.’”

[From the Associated Press]

You’ve got to give Tom and Nicole some credit for adopting because they really wanted kids. It wasn’t the trendy thing to do back in the day, and no one added on to their brood like they were picking out vegetables at the grocery store. Sometimes it’s hard not to feel badly for Nicole, even though she seems a bit too prim and slightly ice queeny. And I’m not even going to touch that Botoxed brow of hers – mostly because I’m afraid the toxin might leak through. But she seemed to give up a lot of herself to be with Tom. She converted to Scientology (though she later said she never believed any of it) which must have been difficult, given that her father is a very prominent Australian biochemist and a clinical psychologist – and Scientology labels all psychiatry a “pseudo-science.” She was willing to give up her career – though she’s had some great roles and seems to have done fine in that regard. You just get the feeling that she really lived under Tom’s thumb (so to speak). I’m not even going to touch the “Tom Cruise is gay” issue, but only because he sues the pants off of anyone who dares to suggest it. Nicole says she’s like to have a biological child with husband Keith Urban, who is slowly coming around to the idea. Even though the couple have had some struggles relating to his substance abuse, she seems a lot happier with him, and he seems all around less scary and controlling than Tom. Let’s hope they get what they want, and stay far, far away from Xenu.
