Nicole Kidman went to Haiti over the weekend, acting in her role as goodwill ambassador to the United Nations Development Fund for Women (UNIFEM). She met with people from the UN Mission in Haiti, and with Haitian women in-country. She also did press for her trip too, which I can understand. If this were Angelina Jolie, I’m sure everyone would be all “OF COURSE SHE DID PRESS, FAMEWHORE” – but that’s part of the job description as a goodwill ambassador, to generate press for your mission or organization. What I don’t think the UN expects, however, if for the interview in-country to be about what films you’ve got coming out:

It’s not easy parting Nicole Kidman from her 2-year-old daughter, Sunday Rose.

“I’ve spent two nights away from her in two years. I’m just so into her. I’m crazy about her. She’s a good little traveler. She flies everywhere and she brings her little toys. It’s not a big deal, traveling with them — but not to Haiti,” says Kidman, calling Thursday from Port-au-Prince after spending a day touring a women’s shelter. “Safetywise, I couldn’t bring her (here), but otherwise, she goes everywhere with me. We were walking through the tent cities today, and it’s just rubble and tents.”

Kidman, 43, spends most of her time living a quiet, suburban life in Nashville with husband Keith Urban and their toddler. But she’s in the Haitian capital as part of her work with United Nations Development Fund for Women (UNIFEM); she’s been a goodwill ambassador since January 2006. Her focus? Women’s rights around the world, with this particular outing spotlighting the plight of women in Haiti, which was devastated by a January earthquake.

“It’s not what I get out of it. I feel like I can never put enough into it. The greatest thing my parents did was give me a social conscience,” says Kidman of her UNIFEM work. “For someone like Sunday, for her to be able to be molded, I suppose, to have a very strong social conscience — I would be so proud. I would hope for that. Keith and I are both very committed to that.”

In the Kidman-Urban household, charity is a family business. “Keith has done benefit concerts for us. He’s been so supportive. I’m always like, ‘Hey, I think I might be able to get hold of a musician.’ He’s so lovely,” says his wife.

Kidman, who won an Oscar for 2002′s The Hours, says philanthropy is a big part of her life. “I’m just constantly trying to give a voice to the women around the world, women everywhere, who are in need of help. If there’s anything to be had from having worked for 23 to 25 years of my life, I’m so glad to now be able to do this. I don’t mind being used like that,” she says.

Next up, Kidman goes back to her day job. “I haven’t done a movie for a while. I spent a couple of weeks on the Adam Sandler movie, but that was a tiny role,” she says, referring to Just Go With It, out next year. Later this summer, she’s starting production on Trespass, opposite Nicolas Cage, in nearby Shreveport, La.; she plays a mother protecting her daughter. “That speaks to me,” she says. “I finish filming in September and then hang out with Keith and Sunday” — with a brief outing to promote the intimate drama Rabbit Hole at the Toronto Film Festival.

“It’s a passion project about a grieving couple, and how you get through trauma and loss together and how it affects a marriage,” says Kidman.

See, I understand why she talked about her daughter, because I’ll buy that giving birth to Sunday (“giving birth”) changed her as a woman and made her think differently about women’s issues internationally, politically and financially (no mention of Bella, but whatever). But Nicole really shouldn’t be talking about her films, for real. Just a polite, “That’s not why I’m in Haiti, I’m in Haiti to…[mission statement]” etc.

Oh well, at least she looks pretty good, right? Not quite as frozen, although once again, when she’s trying to move her forehead, she looks like she’s about to bust something. Enough with the ‘tox, Nicole.

At the beginning of this year, Deadline Hollywood broke the story that Nicole Kidman had signed on with famed Hollywood manager Guyer Kosinski, best known for being Angelina Jolie’s only Hollywood manager. Many pointed out that Nicole was likely trying to attempt a new direction for her career after her name became synonymous with “box office poison” for half a decade. Many hoped that Kosinski would give Nicole some good career advice and some hard truths that she obviously wasn’t getting from her CAA agent, Kevin Huvane. Since signing on with Kosinski, Nicole has made some changes – she took a supporting part in a comedy with Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston, she’s signed on to do an action-thriller with Nicolas Cage, and she also agreed to do a TV movie… with my lover Clive Owen. She’s rumored to be attached to another half-dozen projects too. Basically, she’s trying to reinvent herself as an actress who does films that people actually see, rather than artsy-fartsy stuff that doesn’t work, or big-budget disasters in which her frozen face is the special effect that scares small children.

What has been unknown is whether Kosinski would tell Nicole Kidman some hard truths about her face and all of its Botoxy glory. Through the past few months, it didn’t really seem like Nicole was easing herself off the hard stuff (‘Tox and lip injections), and if anything, some of her recent appearances have been even more ‘Toxy – not to mention the hint of boob job. But she’s back to red hair now, thank God, and judging from her appearance yesterday at a Hollywood event, I’d say Kosinski might have finally talked her into easing off the lip injections. Look at her top lip! It looks… normal. Ish. Okay, not quite “normal” but still shockingly smaller, and not like a worm is trying to fight it’s way out. I love this Nicole. Yes, her forehead still isn’t moving, but the lips are totally an improvement, and they’ve given me hope for the future.

Also, two sidenotes: CB thinks that Nicole easing off the injections is a sign she could be trying for another baby. Prepare the pillow, minions! No, if she is, good for her. Also: I finally saw Nine, and my God, how badly did Nicole suck in that? Worst. Part.

This would totally be a fascinating story, if only it were true. Of course, there could totally be something there. Let me start at the beginning: when Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman got divorced, they worked out some totally strange custody agreement for their adopted children Isabella (Bella) and Connor. Details of this arrangement were never nailed down or confirmed publicly, but through the years, it seems more and more like Bella and Connor spend the overwhelming majority of time with their dad, and that they are being indoctrinated by Xenu (probably Xenu, personally). From what I’ve seen and read, Bella and Connor rarely, if ever, see Nicole, and there have even been stories about Bella and Connor calling Katie Holmes “Mom” now.

But Bella and Connor are growing up, and they’re beginning to make their own decisions about who they hang out. According to this week’s In Touch Weekly, Bella might be considering a move when she turns 18 later this year – a move back to her mom’s house. Xenu does not approve.

In Touch Weekly – Tom Cruise’s daughter Isabella wants to move in with her mom Nicole Kidman when she turns 18 in December. Since legally, she’ll be an adult then it’s unclear why Tom is “caught in the middle” and “fighting to stop Isabella from moving out.”

The mag claims 17-year-old Isbaella is “caught in a tug of war between” Kidman and Cruise’s current wife, Katie Holmes.

Since Cruise hangs out with son Connor, and “Katie and [daughter] Suri shop,” says the mag, Isabella “never feels like she fits in… but Nicole ‘gets’ her.”

In Touch’s so-called “insider” alleges that Isabella’s relationship with Holmes has “deteriorated” to the point that Isabella “is insisting she wants to go live with Nicole” in Nashville.

One possibility: Tom and Katie are concerned that “Bella will likely stop her Scientology studies since Nicole is anti-Scientology.”

Though previous reports have suggested Nicole doesn’t have much contact with Isabella and Connor due to some bizarre divorce deal, according to this article Isabella talks to Nicole several times a day and hates Katie.

Unfortunately, Tom’s rep already ran to Gossip Cop to deny this story: “A rep for Cruise tells Gossip Cop that talk of discord among Holmes, Kidman and any of the children just ‘isn’t true.’ Furthermore, Isabella is not ‘moving out.’” Not even when she turns 18 years old? Is Bella going to be beholden to Xenu for the rest of her life? Is she the bride of Xenu? Eh. I feel for Connor and Bella both, I really do. While I don’t think they’re in for a Lohan-level downfall, I do think they’ve truly been indoctrinated for so many years, it will be difficult for them to see reality any time soon. And it sucks that they don’t have much of a relationship with Nicole anymore. I would love to know what happened there.

At first, I thought Keith Urban’s comments about his daughter’s legs were a little strange, but now that I’ve read the story a few times, I understand that he wasn’t trying to be creepy, he was trying to be funny and self-deprecating. The gist is that Keith thinks that Sunday got Nicole Kidman’s long legs. And he’s thankful that Sunday-born-on-a-Monday didn’t get his legs.

Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman’s daughter Sunday Rose will celebrate her second birthday next month, so it’s still too early to tell if she’s picked up her mother’s acting talents or father’s musical chops.

However, according to Urban, she is clearly her mother’s daughter in one key area. “I think she’s a combination of both of us so far,” he says of Sunday’s looks, “but she got my wife’s legs, which is very lucky for her. She sure didn’t deserve mine.”

The CMT Music Award winner for male video of the year (Urban picked up a “Buckle” for “‘Til Summer Comes Around”) performed Friday night of the CMA Music Festival with a little help from his friends Sarah Buxton and Little Big Town’s Karen Fairchild and Kimberly Schlapman on background vocals.

When I was younger, I had my father’s thin legs, but unfortunately, they’ve turned into my mother’s. They’re not terrible, they’re just prone to “stocky” although at one point I was much more athletic, and they looked nice. Oh, well. I guess I just brought that up because now I really wish I had my father’s legs, and maybe Sunday will wish that too someday. But I think Sunday is going to be very lucky – she seems to be growing out of looking like her dad, and I can see more of Nicole in her face. And she does look like she’s going to be a long-legged beanpole like Nic.

Random British tabloids aren’t the only ones with random Jennifer Aniston gossip this week. Already today, we’ve heard that Jennifer may already be getting busy with Jason Sudeikis - and now this week’s In Touch Weekly is claiming that Aniston might be getting back together with John Mayer. It’s a web of deceit and idiocy, though. The story, not the coupling, although that works too. The basic gist is that now that Aniston and Nicole Kidman are best buds, and because Nicole’s husband is now really tight with John Mayer, that Nicole and Keith are going to try to get Aniston back with Mayer. Nicole really has horrible taste in men, doesn’t she?

Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban have a secret plan to get Jennifer Aniston and John Mayer back together! Keith has performed with John on CMT’s Crossroads, and they’ve become close, just as Nicole and Jen became fast friends.

An insider tells In Touch, “John has confided in Keith how much he misses Jen.” Meanwhile, Nicole has been having hear-to-hearts with Jen.

“Nicole and Keith think John and Jen should get back together, and they are plotting a way to try to sway their new pals to give love another chance and have a secret date,” the insider adds. “Nicole stood by Keith during his hard times, and she’s telling Jen that men can change if the women they love support them.”

While Jen misses John, she might not be ready to give it another shot. “Jen was really heartbroken after their split, and has a hard time trusting him… she’s waiting to see if he’s changed.”

Considering Mayer is allegedly sticking it to Taylor Swift, I would say no, he hasn’t changed. But really, I do think this is bullsh-t. My opinion of John Mayer hasn’t changed in a while, but surely after his racist, homophobic, misogynistic tell-all Playboy interview, the man is still radioactive, right? And even if he’s due for a comeback (debatable), why would any woman recommend Mayer to a friend? If one of my girlfriends was like “You should date John Mayer,” I would slap the sh-t out of her. Obviously, that bitch would no longer be my friend.

Oh, and Star Magazine has a really condescending article about Aniston too, saying that she’s going to adopt now after being encouraged by Sheryl Crow. Here’s one of the worst lines: “Jennifer plans to practice her mommy skills on Sheryl’s tots!” Barf. Star’s source says: “Money isn’t an issue, but time is… Jen doesn’t want to wait four years, like Sandra Bullock did, to get her adopted child. She’s hoping it will take no more than a year… Sheryl has invited Jen to spend time with the boys so she can get a feel for what it’s like to be around a baby and a toddler… Jen is going to make sure to do that.” Yeah, I’m sure Jen will “make sure” she keeps that appointment. Right after she has a vodka martini, a cigarette, a massage and a vibrator orgasm. Seriously, what about Jennifer’s actions convinces people/tabloids that she has any interest in children?

A few days ago, CB transcribed part of Nicole Kidman’s interview in Hello Magazine. I singled out one part that I found particularly funny, which was when she was describing how she got a part in Adam Sandler’s comedy Just Go With It. Nicole said: “Adam and I worked on Saturday Night Live when I was 22 or 23. He just called me up and said ‘Would you do this?’ and I said, ‘Yeah, I would love to come to Maui.’” She probably didn’t mean it this way, but I took it as Nicole being more excited about getting paid to hang out in Hawaii rather than working with Sandler et al. Looks like I was wrong! Nicole hates Hawaii. Why, perchance? Because of the f-cking sun, and her pale, pale skin. According to In Touch, Nicole is “terrified” of the sun.

Filming Just Go With It in tropical Maui, Hawaii, fair skinned Nicole Kidman has turned to SPF 100 to protect her flawless skin!

While her co-star Jennifer Aniston has been seen working on her tan on the spectacular local beaches, Nicole avoids the intense sun with floppy hats, sunglasses and a specially formulated super strong sunscreen to keep her skin milky white.

“Nicole does not tan, and working in the intense sun in Hawaii has been a challenge for her,” a movie insider reveals. “She’s been a really good sport about it all, but she has begged the director to keep her out of the sun as much as possible.”

Despite being from sundrenched Australia, Nicole is no fan.

“Her face is her fortune, and she protects it,” says a pal.

I could have done without the “Her face is her fortune” quote. Because if Nicole really cared about her face long-term, she wouldn’t be injecting poison into her forehead, cheeks, lips and wherever else she sees a hint of normal aging. What kills me is that I would applaud Nicole if I thought her beauty was just about keeping out of the sun – if that was it, she would be aging beautifully. But because of all the Botox (and whatever else), she’s going to look ragged in a few years, and it will have nothing to do with skin damage from the sun. Meanwhile, Aniston keeps tanning and tanning. In a few years, her skin is going to look like leather.

Hello! Magazine has a new exclusive interview with Nicole Kidman, and she comes across as saccharine sweet as she usually does. It’s all roses and classical music in Kidman’s world, and while I find her as fake as her inflated lips, it’s hard to separate out her personality from her public persona. There’s something real in her fakeness, as if she’s not herself without the carefully constructed mask she presents to the world. Anyway Kidman is starring in a new comedy with Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston, filming now. She spoke with Hello! about her experiences working in comedy and with her co-stars. She also talked about her home life, with husband Keith Urban and their daughter, Sunday Rose, who turns two in July.

On her fame
“It still blows my mind that I can go to places in the world that I’ve never been and people know who I am. It makes the world feel smaller; it’s a very warm feeling. People love Moulin Rogue! – that always seems to be the movie they mention.”

I guess Nicole’s interview wasn’t what annoyed me about this piece. It was the way that Hello! crawled up her ass with compliments and endless insignificant details of an event she attended. I didn’t include that part in the quoted text above, but here’s a relevant segment. “Nicole fixes you with her cornflower blue eyes, exuding warmth and good humour with no trace of the ice maiden she is sometimes portrayed as. Her hair, far too blonde for the film Australia, is back to its burnt-copper best and she is a study in elegance for the Omega opening and media interviews.”

In October, 2008, Hello! published segments of Nicole’s “personal” diary, written on the set of Australia when she was pregnant with Sunday. It came across as incredibly maudlin and corny, and ever since I read that I’ve thought of Nicole as this big phony who believed her own hype. Maybe she’s just one of those people who feels things deeply and feels that everything is significant. She does seem happy and in love with life. In terms of how much she’s been working lately, and how she only works once or twice a year, that could be more due to the fact that she’s less in demand than her commitment to her family. I do admire her commitment to UNIFEM and she earned praise from their public affairs director, who explained “We didn’t call [Nicole], she called us. And she said ‘I’m in this for the long haul. There’s a level of passion that shows.”

I was just glancing through these new photos of Nicole Kidman promoting Omega (she’s one of the faces of the brand) in Hong Kong today, and for the most part, my thoughts ran to the same old talking points. As in “Why does she do that to her beautiful face?” and “It’s funny to see how nothing moves on her jacked face when she tries to smile.” That’s honestly why people still have sympathy for Nicole – she always looks like she’s in pain. She probably is in pain. Every time she tries to smile, the wall of Botox in her face screams “DON’T DO IT … DO NOT SHOW EMOTION… MAN THE TORPEDOS.”

And then I came to this part of the photo array – Nicole wearing a plunging black cocktail number, also for part of the Omega press.

Now… I’ve put this out there before, and I have to ask it again – did Nicole get implants? Or are we still holding strong to the theory that Nicole’s boobs look like that because she was pregnant with little Sunday Roast? I know many of you hate when I say this, but I can’t help what I believe in my heart – Nicole wasn’t pregnant. So how did she get those boobs? I really think they’re implants. She just went from an A-cup to a B/C-cup, but she’s been jacking those things up lately.

By the way, when she was doing press, she was talking to a reporter about her marriage to Keith Urban, and how her marriage rule (for this marriage at least) is that they can’t be apart for more than three days. Kidman told the reporter: “I think I’ve reached a point in my life where I’ve slowed down a lot, so it’s not difficult. My priority is very much keeping my family together and not being away from them.” Um… isn’t Keith on tour or something? Hasn’t he been on tour a lot since their marriage? Does Nicole follow him around on tour? I thought she had better things to do with her time.

This week’s Star Magazine has a very amusing article about a supposed heart to heart talk between co-stars Jennifer Aniston and Nicole Kidman that is complete creative fiction. It’s damn funny, though, and we’re not above repeating it. According to Star’s imagination, Aniston and Kidman bonded in an on set workout session when they talked about what losers/babies their ex husbands, Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt, were and how their sex lives sucked toward the end of their famous marriages. Jennifer and Nicole also allegedly talked about children, and Aniston was left in tears when Kidman enlightened her about how rewarding it is to be a mother. Poor childless rich gorgeous movie star Jen, right?

The main topic of discussion: their famous exes, Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt! “It was so therapeutic. Nic and Jen were doubled over in laughter making fun of the guys’ quirks,” the insider says. “Nothing was off limits!”

Indeed. The women even dished about what went on in the bedroom! “Jen definitely didn’t have kind words to say about Brad,” another source familiar with the conversation tells Star. “She told Nicole that he may be a sex symbol, but he could sometimes be a selfish lover.” Jen also revealed that their sex life practically came to a standstill at the end of their marriage.

Nicole then let loose on Tom, 47. “Jen was taken aback after learning they sometimes went a long time without affection,” reveals a source.

The women soon turned to discussing other juicy tidbits…

While Nicole grumbled about Tom’s micromanaging, Jen, 41, dished back that during her relationship with Brad, 46, he was extremely immature. “She confided that she felt like his nursemaid,” says the source, adding she often helped him after his all-night drinking benders. “She thought he needed to be looked after like a teenager…”

“Nicole advised Jen that even if she doesn’t meet the right guy, she should have a baby or adopt because motherhood is the most fulfilling thing she’ll ever do,” says the source. “Jen had tears in her eyes when Nic said that.”

I’m surprised Star didn’t mention how poorly endowed Brad Pitt is. (Allegedly, although photos and exes sort of confirm) They really missed the boat on that one. Star made this way too tame and needs to spice it up. Instead of using vague descriptions about bad sex lives and caretaker relationships they should have made it specific. We want to read stories about how Tommy made Nicole watch wrestling before he would make love missionary style with the lights off and how Aniston had to hold Brad’s hair back and wash off his beard when he puked in the toilet following tequila binges.

Did you guys know that Jason Lee is a Scientologist? I hate that about him, even though I love him as an actor. Well, anyway, he rolls with Xenu, and now Jason’s ex-wife Carmen Llywellyn is “telling all” about Jason and the Church of Scientology. Now, the Enquirer claims that Carmen is still a “member” of CoS, but she repeatedly claims that she left the CoS, so I’m not sure what that’s about. She’s bashing Xenu all over the place, but maybe Cos has some kind of Xenu-baptism where you‘re a member for life or something? I’m quietly chanting “One of us… one of us” now. When Tom Cruise called Nicole Kidman a Scientologist, she shot him a look that could kill – and shortly afterward, the couple divorced!

That’s the blockbuster claim of former Scientologist and actress Carmen Llywellyn – the ex-wife of My Name is Earl star Jason Lee, who remains a member of the controversial church. And in an exclusive ENQUIRER interview, Carmen pulls aside the veil of secrecy surrounding the religion that some describe as a cult. She reveals for the first time ever how the church caters to its famous celebrity members, including Cruise, John Travolta and Lisa Marie Presley.

Carmen joined Scientology in 1995 after marrying Jason, but quit during their bitter divorce in 2002, and claims her association with the church still haunts her.

“I have never spoken about Scientology before, but I still have nightmares about these people. They ruined my life and my career. I ended up addicted to painkillers, and it took three rehabs to get me straight,” Carmen told The ENQUIRER. “If I see a Scientologist now, I cross the street.”

Eh. Okay, let’s get to the good stuff from the print edition of the Enquirer:

*Carmen joined Scientology in 1995 after marrying Jason Lee, but she quit it when she and Jason divorced in 2002. Carmen says: “Jason’s message was that if I didn’t join, I wasn’t going to be with him… so I joined, but it was like a cult, and I foolishly allowed it to take root in me.”

*Carmen claims that Jason Lee was abusive. She says: “He was a drunk who beat me up… he whacked me in the face and knocked me unconscious. Once, I was knocked out cold for at least 30 seconds. I had to have my jaw wired.”

*When Carmen and Jason were going through their divorce, Carmen went to CoS meetings where she claims she was “browbeaten into signing a document that she claimed had been prepared by Jason and the church.” The agreement was for $22,141 a month for three years, plus $50,000 cash and a leased car. Meanwhile, Jason got their $2 million home, their cars, his businesses, residuals, stocks and pension accounts. Carmen says that she was brow-beaten because CoS didn’t want “to upset or lose their celebrity.” Carmen eventually hired a new lawyer who renegotiated her settlement deal.

*After “leaving” CoS, Carmen bumped into Jenna Elfman (Scientologist), and Carmen says: “I was shopping recently when Jenna approached me. She spouted statements like a robot and treated me like dirt because she knew I’d broken free.”

*Carmen and Jason met Tom Cruise when he was still with Nicole Kidman: “Jason and I were talking to Tom, and we told him that we went to the CoS center in LA. He said brightly, ‘Oh yeah? Well, me and Nicole are Scientologists too! Right, Nic?’ But she turned and gave Tom the most evil look. She stared at him for about 10 seconds, and Tom looked at her like he was throwing daggers with his eyes. I interpreted her look to mean, ‘I am not a Scientologist, and I will not be a Scientologist.’ She was clearly mad at Tom for saying she was. And the next thing you know, they’re getting a divorce!”

*More on Nicole and Tom: “At the time, the word went around all the Scientologists that ‘Nicole is an S.P. so Tom has to divorce her.’ An S.P. is a Suppressive Person, which is CoS jargon for the devil.”

*Carmen on Lisa-Marie Presley: “Jason and I were talking to Lisa Marie one night and we asked her ‘Come on tell us the truth, why did you really divorce Michael Jackson?’ She said, ‘The reason I finally left him was that I didn’t want him to be in the same room as my children!’”

*Carmen also says that John Travolta and Kelly Preston would always bring their daughter Ella to CoS functions, but never their son Jett. Carmen says she thought that was “odd”.

*In the end, Carmen says: “Scientology threatened my spiritual health, saying that I’d lose all my friends. I lost my manager and my career. People didn’t return my phone calls. Scientologists followed me down the street. They took pictures of my kids. They’d stake out my house, wait until we came out and follow us. They came looking for me to scare me, I was nearly suicidal.”

Ugh. I believe most of this. I really believe all of the Church of Scientology stuff, but I’m not so sure about the whole Jason Lee-is-an-abusive-drunk stuff. Do you think he hit her? I mean, it’s not beyond the realm of possibility, so whatever. It could have happened. I find the Nicole Kidman story very interesting, though. I would have paid money to see Nicole and Tom stare each other down as they engage in a mental battle over Xenu. And I’m totally buying that Tom divorced Nicole because, in his f-cked up head, Nicole was an “S.P.” Oh, the Enquirer also mentions that Carmen moved away from Hollywood so she wouldn’t have to deal with Xenu’s minions anymore. She now lives in Atlanta with her kids. Are any of Xenu’s minions in Georgia?
