It seems rumors of a holiday engagement for gorgeous young couple Orlando Bloom and Miranda Kerr are premature. Australia’s Sunday Telegraph reported that Bloom, 31, and Victoria’s Secret model Kerr, 25, were engaged and planning a wedding to take place in the middle of next year, which would be the start of winter in Kerr’s native Australia.
Men and women on can all breathe sighs of relief because Kerr’s rep says the story is not true:
“The story … is completely false and misleading,” the rep says. “Miranda herself has clearly stated she is not engaged. There is nothing else to be said.”
Kerr has been a bit more outspoken about her relationship with Bloom and she possibly spilled the beans to some friends, though. She confirmed their relationship to Hello! Magazine in an issue published in early September, calling him a “sweetheart,” and saying that it was common knowledge that they were together.
Reports in July had Bloom and Kerr engaged, and this rumor has persisted for a while.
Kerr is quoted in a recent edition of Page Six Magazine as saying that she’d like children and that her “ideal situation would be to live on a farm in a solar-powered house with a hammock and a vegetable patch.” Bloom is an ardent environmentalist and shares her commitment to renewable energy. We’ll have to wait and see if he’s just as ready for a family, too.

Pretty couple Orlando Bloom and Miranda Kerr share more than photogenic cheekbones and an interest in Buddhism. They both enjoy jewelry, which may soon include an engagement ring for Kerr.
For years, Orlando has worn necklaces with a variety of baubles from all his travels, and in September, Miranda and Orlando spent more than $2,000 at a charity auction of Afghan jewelry.
Now Star reports Orlando is getting possessive about what jewelry Miranda wears.
Orlando Bloom wants supermodel girlfriend to wear his ring. And no one else’s! He’s made Miranda chuck all of the jewelry her exes had given her, a friend reveals. But he didn’t leave her dazzle-free. Miranda was blinging out in bracelets and other baubles from her beau at Primitivo Wine Bistro in Venice, Calif., on October 25. Says a witness, “She said she only wears stuff from Orlando now!”
[From Star, print edition, November 17, 2008]
The couple have been together over a year, and In Touch reports that they’re about to take it to the next level.
“They are talking about settling down and getting married in a year,” a friend of the Victoria’s Secret model tells In Touch. “They have had a bit of a crazy year, but they do love each other and she wants to be his wife.” Miranda, 25, and Orlando, 31, openly showed their affection during a romantic dinner at Primotivo in Venice Beach, Calif., on October 26. “They were holding hands and kissing throughout the meal,” says the friend.
[From In Touch, print edition, November 17, 2008]
In Touch obviously isn’t overly concerned about getting details like the date and spelling of the restaurant right. Pictures show the couple were at the restaurant on October 25, as Star reports, and the name of the restaurant is Primitivo, not Primotivo.
If they do wed, Miranda may be the breadwinner in the family. She is the face of David Jones Limited and will appear at the Victoria’s Secret fashion show in Miami in December.
Orlando has been rumored for several roles, but so far nothing seems to have panned out. Hopefully, Orlando will at least don the blonde wig and pointy ears as Legolas for The Lord of the Rings prequel.

Disney recently announced that Johnny Depp will be returning as Captain Jack Sparrow in Pirates of the Caribbean 4: The World’s Most Unnecessary Sequel. This caused a lot of comment that the third instalment of the series wasn’t very good, and that he should be moving forward, and is selling out. Everyone has their price – is yours more than $56 million?
Johnny Depp has struck gold by landing £32million ($US56million) for a fourth Pirates Of The Caribbean adventure.
The bumper cheque is the highest up front pay-out in movie history.
It smashes the £29m ($US51million) paid to Tom Hanks, 52, for the Da Vinci Code follow-up Angels & Demons, out next May.
And it means Depp will leapfrog Will Smith into top spot on Hollywood’s rich list when he reprises his role as Captain Jack Sparrow.
A movie insider said: “It’s a hell of a lot of swag for one movie but there’s only one man who can play Captain Jack Sparrow – and that’s Johnny Depp.
“Pirates just wouldn’t be the same without him, so they were more than willing to smash the record books to land Depp again.
Johnny Depp deserves to be one of Hollywood’s highest paid, I’ll go see anything with him in it, and although I’m sure I’ve seen Pirates 3 and have absolutely no recollection of it. While the salary reports surfaced in the sometimes unreliable British tabloids, I’d have to say that the figure is not unfeasable. There is no movie without Captain Jack!
I also can’t believe that the prequel to The Da Vinci Code is being made, considering how awful this was, and that Tom Hanks is being paid $51 million. The Dan Brown books are just too complex to translate well to the big screen, and I’d have to say that Tom Hanks was too old for the first film, let alone a prequel! Then again, if Harrison Ford can play Indiana Jones in his 60s, I guess Tom Hanks can play a university professor at any age. My mental image from reading the books was of a man about ten years younger than Hanks though.
The highest paid actor ever is, a little surprisingly, Keanu Reeves, who reportedly made $200+ million for his role in The Matrix, based on a merchandise ands sales agreement. Many stars make money from these kinds of deals, and take a lower salary than they might be worth. HollywoodToday.net has a breakdown of how this works, and suggests that Johnny has made almost $150 million from the previous three Pirates films using this system.
Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley have both indicated they’d like to move away from the series, but if Disney thinks the films, which grossed around $3 billion at the box office, have more life in them, I wonder what their price is? And will Disney be willing to pay it? It’s an awful lot fo buried treasure (I couldn’t resist a little pirate reference).

You know it’s a good day when you’re blessed with three stories about projects dreamboat Johnny Depp has signed on for. The news came out earlier today that Depp, 45, had signed on to play the Mad Hatter in a 3D live action animated adaption of Alice in Wonderland, to be directed by Tim Burton. Now there’s news that Depp has signed on for another Pirates of the Caribbean sequel, something that seemed to inevitably be coming based on the enormous box office take of the last three episodes. He’s also set to play sidekick Tonto in a Lone Ranger film to be put out by Jerry Bruckheimer. I’m not one to criticize Depp on the big screen in any capacity at all, but doesn’t Hollywood have some new ideas on how to capitalize on his hotness? Tried and true may be safer in these troubled economic times, though.
Depp announced the dual roles for Disney by appearing on stage at a Disney event at LA’s Kodak theater wearing both his Pirates costume and a Lone Ranger mask. Why are there no pictures of this?
It appears the gazillion dollars the first three Pirates of the Caribbean movies raked in weren’t good enough for Walt Disney. Franchise star Johnny Depp will reprise his role as Captain Jack Sparrow for a fourth installment of the franchise, according to Movieweb.com.
Disney also announced Depp will play iconic sidekick Tonto in Jerry Bruckheimer’s big screen take on “The Lone Ranger” as well as The Mad Hatter in Tim Burton’s forthcoming “Alice in Wonderland” remake.
The announcements came Wednesday during a Disney Studio Showcase at the Kodak Theater in Los Angeles. Depp appeared in full Sparrow regalia, while wearing a black mask in a nod to his Lone Ranger role.
I always thought of Depp as the kind who has some shred of integrity when it comes to choosing roles. We all know the “Pirates” flicks paid him a ton of money, but films like “Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street” showed there was still more to him than mumbling like Keith Richards for two hours.
The last Pirates movie made no sense to me and I found it kind of interminable. I probably wouldn’t go see another one unless it got great reviews. Depp has expressed his gratitude to the Pirates series in interviews and has mentioned several times that he’d be open to doing another one. Keira Knightley has pretty much ruled out reprising her role as Elizabeth Swann in another sequel. Orlando Bloom also indicated that he’d like to walk away from the series, saying in May, 2007 that “I’m looking forward to taking on some completely new challenges. I’ll be sad to see it go, but it’s time to do something new for me. The great thing about this film is that, as a trilogy, there’s closure.” As long as there’s boatloads of cash to be made and the star is up for another sequel, there’s no such thing as closure in Hollywood.
Victoria’s Secret model Miranda Kerr, 25, told Hello! Magazine that when she first met actor Orlando Bloom, 31, she was seeing someone else and refused to give him her phone number. Bloom was persistent, and got the Australian model’s number from her publicist and called her up anyway. She eventually became single and gave the heartthrob a chance. They’re now a happy couple and it might not have worked out so well if Kerr hadn’t played hard to get. Kerr calls Bloom “gorgeous” and “a sweetheart” in the interview.
Is your relationship with Orlando public knowledge yet, Miranda?
“Oh yes. Everyone knows now, I think.”
Congratulations, because he’s a beautiful man.
“Thanks, I know. He is gorgeous, isn’t he? He really is a sweetheart.”
How did you meet?
“We were friends for a while and then it just developed into a little more.”
Is Orlando shy? Is that why it took him a while to make a move?
“He was a little bit cheeky, actually. He got my number from my agent because I wouldn’t give it to him. Then he called and said, ‘We can just be friends.’ I was like, ‘OK, then.’”
Why wouldn’t you give him your number?
“At the time I was seeing someone else.”
What does a man have to do to impress you?
“Thoughtful things impress me. Like making me a card instead of buying me a card. It sounds cheesy, I know, but it’s all about what’s inside that counts with me.”
Is that to do with your beliefs as a practicing Buddhist?
“Yes. Buddhism also opens you up to the possibilities for the earth and whatever it is you want to achieve or get in life. It’s worked for me. I’m so grateful for everything.”
[From Hello! Magazine, print edition, September 16, 2008]
Orlando has been a Buddhist for years, so it seems he’s influenced Miranda to get involved with the religion as well.
Miranda dished a little on Orlando’s underwear choice. She said he shops at her employer, Victoria’s Secret, and that “he’s got these cute little boxer shorts.”
She also told a very amusing story about her rumored feud with Paris Hilton:
“That was when I first moved to New York and did a show at Fashion Week. What happened was I had this beautiful little pink dress to wear for the show. Paris was watching from the front row but decided at the last minute that she actually wanted to be in the show. So she came in and got to pick what she wanted to wear. One of the dresses she chose was mine, so I was a little miffed but I reined myself in.
“I thought it was really funny, actually, because what happened next was like karma. Naomi Campbell turned up really late, five minutes before the end of the show. Paris was all dressed for the finale but they took the dress right off her and gave it to Naomi. So Paris was left standing there naked. You could see she was really angry about it. Naomi walked down the catwalk in it and was front page news the next day.”

Kerr is writing a self-help book for teenagers called Treasure Yourself she says it’s about “eating for your blood type and food combining,” which she says has helped her keep fit. She says that “it’s really challenging for young women to know the right things to eat” and to “concentrate on nutrition rather than… calories.”

Orlando Bloom made his career playing eye candy in huge Hollywood films like Pirates of the Caribbean,Troy and Kingdom of Heaven, but now that he’s on the other side of 30, Orlando seems to be re-evaluating his career.
The final film in the Pirates trilogy, released in 2007 to nearly universal critical disdain, was the last time Orlando was seen on the big screen. He has a small part in the film anthology New York, I Love You, out in 2009, and has been rumored off-and-on to star opposite Liam Neeson and Yun-Fat Chow in the Johnny To film The Red Circle.
Despite being rumored to go naked in Equus, Orlando instead took a small part in the London production of In Celebration last summer.
Since then, he’s been in the news mostly for his environmental work with Global Cool and his relationship with Victoria’s Secret supermodel Miranda Kerr.
Finally, it seems Orlando may have a new film in the works. It won’t be a huge Bruckheimer blockbuster, but a smaller film about the siege of Sarajevo by Bosnian Serbs in the early nineties. The film is based on the book Fools Rush In by Bill Carter, and would be directed by Brazilian director Andrucha Waddington.
Orlando told reporters in Sarajevo, “A film is a very specific and personal account of Bill Carter’s experience in Sarajevo during the war and we would very much like to make the film here.”
He hopes to begin shooting the film by the end of the year. The Sarajevo mayor has promised financial support.
Orlando would not be playing protagonist Bill Carter in this film. I haven’t read the book, so I’m not sure which character he would be playing or who would play Carter.
He is also reported to be producing. He has a previous producer credit on the 2004 film Haven, in which he also had a role.
It’s possible these smaller roles are Orlando’s choice. He was reportedly burned out after making back-to-back sequels to Pirates of the Caribbean. Smaller stage and film roles, as well as producing, are a way to get back to his acting roots.
On the other hand, the reign of a Hollywood pretty boy is always short-lived. Nearly every article on Ben Barnes of The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian fame tagged him the second coming of Orlando Bloom, and Jake Gyllenhaal is playing the title role in Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, a role seemingly tailor-made for sword-and-sandal vet Orlando. Maybe these smaller roles are all he can get.
Either way, it’s probably a good move. Orlando doesn’t have the force of Leonardo DiCaprio, so he’s better off following in the footsteps of another dethroned pretty boy, Josh Hartnett, and taking small gritty independent roles, but staying away from dating Scarlett Johannson.
Of course, the Lord of the Rings fangirl in me doesn’t care if he makes Japanese hair-care product commercials for the rest of his life, as long as he dons the tights and bow again as Legolas in Guillermo del Toro’s upcoming Rings prequels.

Jennifer Aniston is not dating Orlando Bloom. This should be a relief for Orlando’s girlfriend and Victoria’s Secret model Miranda Kerr.
OK! reports the new couple has been pals since Bloom was cast alongside Aniston’s ex-husband Brad Pitt in 2003 movie “Troy,” and that the actress has held a longtime crush on the 31-year-old Brit.
In its new issue, the publication quotes eyewitnesses who claim the pair “only had eyes for each other” at an Epidermolysis Bullosa Medical Research Foundation fundraiser last month.
A source tells OK!, “They were like heat-seeking missiles.”
But Aniston’s representative has dismissed claims of a romance, insisting, “Orlando is a friend. They both have the same manager and sometimes will be at the same place.”
Of course, Jennifer Aniston’s publicist Stephen Huvane hasn’t always been completely honest in his statements. Although I believe that Jennifer Aniston isn’t dating Orlando Bloom, because who has a crush for five years? These are some of Stephen’s classic denials.
BRAD AND JEN ARE NOT ENGAGED
After Jen and then-boyfriend Brad Pitt took the stage during a Sting concert in November 1999 and Jen flashed a big diamond ring on her left ring finger, Huvane told the media: “She has a ring, but it’s not an engagement ring.” He continued to deny any engagement until the couple married July 29, 2000.
BRAD AND JEN ARE OK
Two weeks before Brad and Jen announced their separation on January 7, 2005, Huvane told Us: “They are looking forward to spending the holidays with each other. There is no split. They are fine.”
JEN AND VINCE ARE NOT DATING
When pictures of Vince and Jen cuddling on the set of The Break-Up surfaced in July 2005, and rumors circulated that the costars were dating offscreen, Huvane denied the coupling to the New York Post: “There is no romantic interest. Vince is a good friend of Jennifer’s. I think the tabloids are so eager to see her with someone romantically that they just make these false assumptions.”
Of course, he might not actually be privy to all the inner workings of his client’s lives. While some might argue that is his job, maybe he just calls them periodically and asks what they’re up to. When they give the universal response of ‘Not much’, he just lets it slide.
Jen also has a very tiny co-star on her new film Marley and Me – named Shiloh, but it’s not that Shiloh:
Jennifer Aniston’s infant co-star in new movie Marley and Me is a seven-month-old baby named Shiloh Yapp, named after Aniston’s ex-husband Brad Pitt’s daughter with his new partner Angelina Jolie.
Do people name their kids after Hollywood celebrity babies? Are you telling me at pre-schools across the globe dozens of Apples fraternize with Moses and Harlow?
Marley and Me features, Jennifer, baby Shiloh, a dog as Marley and Owen Wilson, who also isn’t dating Jen.
Jennifer Aniston is shown on set with Owen Wilson on 4/1/08, thanks to Splash News.
I once went to a concert where an audience member told the singer “I love you!” to which he replied “How can you love me if you haven’t even smelled me?” That’s not a bad point, since bad body odor is often an automatic turn off for people. It seems that those of you out there with a celebrity crush on Orlando Bloom might need to consider this.
“Miranda (Kerr) thinks Orlando is too smelly. Recently, she asked him if he could wash his clothes and perhaps shower more often,” an insider told Star magazine.
Kerr, a Victoria’s Secret model, is fed up because 31-year-old Bloom often wears the same clothes for days.
“He’ll wear the same jeans for a week before he throws them in the washer. Same goes for his sweaters, T-shirts and socks,” the source added.
Why he isn’t grooming himself? Is he just lazy, or is it a desperate measure to conserve water? When I look at Orlando Bloom, I think he probably smells of freshly chopped wood, not bad B.O.
The same source says that Orlando sleeps with his dog. You’re dating a Victoria’s Secret model, and you’re making her share the bed with a dog. Clearly, Orlando needs to learn some basic dating etiquette as well as personal grooming habits.
Actually, this could all be an elaborate attempt to get his girlfriend to do laundry with him. My husband holds out on doing the laundry until there is nothing left in his closet, even wearing old school uniforms, to try and get me to do his washing.
On a side note, the couple have been dubbed with a name, in the tradition of Brangelina that I really like: KerrBloom.
Note by Celebitchy: I think someone made up this story entirely, but it’s still funny. Even if he smelled like McConaughey I wouldn’t kick him out of bed.
Miranda Kerr is shown on 1/26/08 at the Australia Black Tie Gala. Orlando Bloom is shown at the BAFTA Awards on 2/10/08, thanks to PRPhotos.
Heartthrob Orlando Bloom is the latest celebrity to lend support to UNICEF. Bloom visited the mountainous nation of Nepal to help draw attention to the UN’s efforts to fight poverty and infant mortality there. He spent four days in Nepal and toured schools and villages as well as met with blind and disabled children that are being assisted through UN programs:
Accompanying Mr. Bloom on the trip were UNICEF Regional Director Dan Toole and UNICEF Representative in Nepal Gillian Mellsop. Besides touring UNICEF programmes, he visited Chitwan National Park and Lumbini, the birthplace of Lord Buddha.
In Kalika village, Mr. Bloom’s forehead was smeared red with the ‘tika’ with which local women had welcomed him, and he wore garlands of flowers they had given him upon his arrival with the guests from UNICEF.
“There was a time when we could not walk alone on that hillside, where the villagers used to throw their dead babies,” one resident told the visitors. “They said their spirits used to haunt the hills. Not any more. Over the years, with improved health, there are no dead babies being thrown over the ridge and no more spirits wandering these hillsides.”
“Look at the comparative indicators of the last six years,” added village facilitator Chali Subedi. “Things have taken a turn for the better since the men and women got organized.”
Mr. Subedi directed the guests’ attention to a chart on the wall of a village home. “Six years ago only 84 per cent of school-going age children were enrolled in schools,” he said. “Now every boy and girl goes to school. Previously only 25 per cent of the households were taking iodized salt [to prevent iodine deficiency disorders]. The figure now has increased to 38 per cent. Similarly women’s workload has decreased from 17 hours per day to 14 hours a day.”
The members of a children’s club at a local school in the hills of Pumdi Bhumdi had a different success story to narrate to Mr. Bloom. As the children explained, they have been instrumental in promoting safe hygiene and sanitation practices in their village.
In Pokhara village, Mr. Bloom mingled with over three dozen blind girls and boys. He also played a small role in a mini-drama the children were recording that day for the UNICEF-supported radio programme ‘Saathi Sanga Manka Kura’ (Chatting with My Best Friend).
The drama dealt with the plight faced by girls in a hostel without a female warden. Mr. Bloom played the role of a guest who tries to offer the girls advice. “Talk about your problems,” he said, consulting the script provided by the children. “There’s no need to feel shy. It’s always good to talk about issues that concern you.”
We haven’t heard much about Bloom since his minor car accident that injured a friend who was a passenger in his car in October of last year. That’s great that he’s getting involved with the UN and lending a hand.
Bloom is also an active environmentalist and took a trip to Antarctica last year with his cousin to document the effects of global warming. His cousin, Sebastian Copeland, has a new book out with photos from their trip titled Antarctica: The Global Warning.
Bloom starred in the play “In Celebration” in the West End of London this summer. It was met with mixed by mostly good reviews. Most say that Bloom was very good in it, but that the play, which was about a dysfunctional family, left a lot of unanswered questions and was either frustrating or heart-breaking depending on your perspective. According to IMDB, Bloom has no movies lined up at this point and due to the writer’s strike he may be waiting some time for a new role. It seems like a very good time for him to see the world and lend his support to some worthy causes.
Who has the most enviable figure in the celebrity world?
A UK poll by fitness firm Premier Training International has come up with some less than predictable answers in a hot body poll.
Enviable Women
Myleene Klass - Big Brother contestant
Halle Berry - actress
Jessica Simpson - singer
Madonna - singer
Sophia Loren - actress
Angelina Jolie - actress
Uma Thurman - actress
Jennifer Aniston - actress
Gabby Logan - Strictly Come Dancing contestant
Enviable Men
Daniel Craig - actor
Jonny Wilkinson - rugby player
Brad Pitt - actor
Hugh Grant - actor
David Beckham - soccer player
Orlando Bloom - actor
Johnny Depp - actor
Lee Mead - Any Dream Will Do winner
Colin Firth - actor
Sir Sean Connery - actor
It seems that being over 70 isn’t going to stop you from having an enviable body – Sophia Loren is 73 and Sir Sean Connery is 77. Checking out the pictures on IMDB I can only hope I look that good when I’m that sort of age, although I passed my mirror this morning and turned it to face the wall – but maybe by the time I’m old I’ll look better than I do now. Do you have to be good looking in your youth (I use the term loosely) to look good in your old age?
Also, it’s amazing that three of the celebrities are from reality TV shows. Myleene Klass was on last year’s Big Brother UK edition and she gained notoriety for her physique in a bikini. I’m amazed anyone can remember Big Brother from last year? Who can remember even last night’s reality TV?
