Owen Wilson is partying with waitresses and randoms: normal or danger zone?

We don’t cover Owen Wilson a lot. He tends to keep his personal life on the lock down, although there were stories last year that he was drinking heavily and partying both before and after his alleged breakup with the mother of his nearly one year-old son, Robert Ford Wilson. I write “alleged breakup” as that story of their split originated in The Enquirer and was carried by the tabloids. As Kaiser reminded me today, Owen’s people didn’t bother to confirm or deny it from what I can find. In August, Owen was spotted out with Jade and little Ford in California, so if they did break up in June it seems to be cordial and he’s still in contact with his son. (If Ford is his son, as there were paternity questions, also in the tabloids.)

So here’s another tabloidy report, from Page Six, about Owen partying it up with big-busted waitresses and chicks in St. Barts over the holidays.

Owen Wilson was spotted flirting with waitresses at a boozy meal at Bagatelle on St. Barts Sunday, and dancing with a bevy of “busty women.” The star, who split from Jade Duell six months ago, seemed ready to move on and party down. “He hopped into the DJ booth,” a spy said. “He was dancing with a bunch of girls. He’s back to his partying ways.” The “Midnight in Paris” star was spotted last week chatting up attractive women at the island’s Le Yacht Club.

[From Page Six]

Everyone gets all maybe fake-concerned about Owen when they hear about him partying, as he had that suicide attempt over four years ago. (That was in August, 2007, I had to look it up.) I think he just loves to hook up, is a commitment-phobe, and likes to party. Sure he’s 43 and people would like to see him settle down, but that doesn’t seem to be what he wants out of life. He’s not trying to project any kind of image though and I like that about him. When he first had Ford he talked about the baby and about how he had little sleep at the time, but he’s not trying to make himself out to be a family man. He’s also not picking some chick and having her play the girlfriend on the red carpet role until he gets sick of her.

Also, I wanted to mention that I just saw Hall Pass on HBO on Demand and that it was truly funny. I had much lower expectations for it, and was pleasantly surprised. The end was schmaltzy and predictable, but there were so many laugh out loud moments and great lines in that film that it was well worth seeing. That’s probably why I have a lot of good will for Owen today. Plus he’s Lightning McQueen!

In Touch: Friends fear Owen Wilson is heading for a breakdown post breakup

wenn3350059
The last time we ran a story on Owen Wilson dumping his baby’s mother I had to close out the comments because a lot of “insiders” were commenting to defend Owen against his new baby’s mother, Jade Duell. We had some comments from a person using four different names to speak out for Owen, and I did a little detective work and doubt that person is anything more than a rabid fan. That person and other commenters did have a point, though. We heard advance stories of paternity drama concerning the baby, and it’s possible that the baby ended up not being Owen’s and that’s why he broke up with the mother and skipped the infant’s christening in New York. Another insider, who was verifiably commenting from Virginia (where Jade has lived in the past) defended Jade and wrote thatSHE left him. She is doing all the work and he is still very depressed and sleeps until 3 pm many days. Don’t assume that since he is an actor that he must have left her. Dint forget she was an Air Marshall and a strong, self sufficient person who won’t put up with his BS.”

So there was a lot of back and forth in the comments on Owen and whatever went on in his now-over relationship with his six month old son’s mother. In Touch has a follow up to that Enquirer story with the detail that Owen is drinking a lot and seems to be depressed again. Given his history of a suicide attempt, friends are said to be worried. In Touch doesn’t seem to have much insider information, just that Owen has been out getting drunk at bars.

Because of apparent commitment issues, Owen, 42, and Jade have split – and sources say he’s been spending a lot of his free time drowning his sorrows in alcohol ever since. Spotted at [a bar] in Venice, CA, on June 10, a witness says, “Owen seemed really drunk. He was slurring his words and kept introducing himself to some girls he met over and over. They felt bad for him.” In fact, a regular says Owen has been getting “Wasted” there frequently. “He’s here a lot, just sitting at the bar drinking,” says the regualr. “He usually gets drunk. It doesn’t matter what day of the week it is.” His family is worried about his behavior. “He looks like a wreck,” adds a friend.

[From In Touch, print edition, July 11, 2011]

Whatever is going on with Owen, that’s sad that he’s out getting wasted like that so much. In Touch has the name of the bar, I just took it out above, so it’s probably accurate. He’s got millions in the bank and a lot of free time to fill now that his house is empty except for the servants and groupies. At least he’s not drinking and driving from what we know. I shouldn’t be so bitchy, I like Owen and hope he keeps it together.

Owen Wilson dumps his baby’s mother

wenn3403723
Owen Wilson usually manages to stay under the gossip radar, but we’ve still heard that he’s been out partying a lot despite the fact that he has a newborn at home. Owen’s now ex girlfriend, former air marshall Jade Duell, 28, gave birth to their son Robert Ford Wilson in early January. Owen said in an appearance on the Today Show in February that he would call him “Ford” and joked that he wasn’t getting much sleep due to the baby. Well he doesn’t have that issue anymore if this story is accurate. Jade and little Ford reportedly moved out and are now staying to New York. Owen was invited to the baby’s christening in New York on June 12, but he bailed at the last minute and missed his scheduled flight. That’s kind of sad.

Owen Wilson is on the verge of a breakdown after dumping his baby mama.

The “Wedding Crashers” star refused to commit to girlfriend Jade Duell and plunged into a downward spiral after she moved to New York with their infant son, sources say.

“Poor Owen is a mess,” a family friend told The Enquirer. “He cries all day and blames himself for ruining his life again. He loves his son Robert more than anything, and he’s kicking himself for not giving his relationship with Jade enough time…

“The baby was the best thing that ever happened to Owen,” noted the source…

“Owen wanted the freedom to do what he wanted with his friends, both male and female, while remaining a family unit with Jade and the baby,” said the source.

“But Jade wasn’t willing to go along with that, so Owen decided to end things with her instead of cheating behind her back.”

Jade and the baby moved out of Owen’s home and flew to New York to be with her family, added the source.

Despite the split, she invited Owen to their son’s christening in New York on June 12, said the source. But he apparently backed out at the last minute…

“He left the airport and drove around Santa Monica for hours. Now he’s holed up in his beach house and walking around like a zombie.”

[From The National Enquirer, print edition, July 7, 2011]

I hope the Enquirer’s take on this is totally wrong. I don’t want to think Owen is a mess or that he’s a suicide risk again. I’d rather hear that he’s partying and wants to be single without any complications, because it sounds like that’s what got him here in the first place. He can’t have it both ways. He seems perfectly happy to ditch his girlfriend and kid, but then he’ll also have to live with the fact that he won’t get to see the boy grow up. He’s rich and has a flexible schedule though. If he wants to be around little Ford he can probably make that choice too. He doesn’t have to be in a relationship if he doesn’t want to.

The Daily Mail has a photo of Owen and Jade together.

Woody Allen defends Carla Bruni: “She was no problem, she was very natural”

fp_5500810_ang_wilson_bruni_24_27

While Woody Allen was filming Midnight In Paris, the tabloids went wild with the speculation that poor Carla Bruni-Sarkozy was such an inept actress that she needed 35 takes to film just one scene that involved a baguette and no dialogue. Now, the 2011 Cannes International Film Festival has commenced, and Allen (along with most of the principal cast) is on hand for the screening of Midnight in Paris, which contains a very wide-ranging cast including, of all people, Owen Wilson, Rachel McAdams, Adrian Brody, and (of course) Carla Bruni-Sarkozy. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Allen addresses (among other things) those rumors about Carla’s alleged skills as an actress as well as paparazzi fallout:

THR: What led to your casting Carla Bruni?

Allen: With Carla, my wife and I were having brunch with the Sarkozkys about a year and a half ago. I had never met them before. He was very charming, very nice, and then she walked into the room. She was so beautiful, so charming and charismatic, I said, ‘Would ever think of being in a movie? Just a small thing, for fun, for your own amusement. I knew she wouldn’t be available for three months of shooting, but I knew she had been before audiences before, playing the guitar, singing, making recordings. She said, ‘Yes, just once in my life I’d like to do it, so I could tell my grandchildren I was in a movie.’ So I said, ‘I’ll make it very simple, just a couple of days work. Something I know you can do, not something we have to work six weeks on. If you can relax and enjoy yourself, you will be fine.’ And she said, sure, she’d love that. And so she came in. She was no problem, she was very natural. The tabloids kept printing that I was doing a million takes with her, but I wasn’t at all. I was doing the normal amount of takes. I certainly don’t do a million takes with anybody, and I was only doing a normal amount with her. Her husband came to watch her work one night and thought she was just great, beautiful and a natural actress. All of the scenes that I wrote for her are in the picture and she did them well. It was a very pleasant experience doing the picture and very pleasant working with her.

THR: Did you realize when you cast her, she’d be a magnet for the paparazzi?

Allen: We have that all the time, whenever we are working in the street. When I was working in England with Scarlett Johansson, the tabloids were all over the place. When I was working in Barcelona with Javier and Penelope, the tabloids were out en masse. And when I work in New York, and there is someone in the movie of interest, they just come flocking. Here, interestingly, her first scene was in the Rodin Museum, so we had that privately to ourselves. So the paparazzi couldn’t get in there. Of course, then when we were working on the street, they were there, but that does happen. It happened with Marion Cotillard and Owen Wilson just as much.

See, I was really skeptical when the Daily Mail quoted a source saying that Allen “wasn’t particularly enthused” about Carla’s on-set performance. Mostly because Woody Allen never looks particularly enthused about anything. Even when he cracks a smile, the guy looks positively miserable. Anyway, Owen Wilson fans will be pleased to know that Woody wanted to cast Owen so badly that he rewrote the main East Coast character to suit Owen’s West Coast personality:

THR: The movie has a very eclectic cast — how did it fall into place?

Allen: I was certain I wanted Rachel McAdams. I knew that. She had always been what I conceived of for her part. The lead was a more East Coast character in the original script (casting director) Juliet Taylor suggested Owen Wilson. I had always been a fan of his, but always felt that has a very West Coast persona. He belongs very much at home on a beach or with a surfboard. So I rewrote the script, making the character a West Coast character. I sent it to Owen and I was very lucky he wanted to do it. Once I had them, I thought about Marion Cotillard. I guess she is the first person you think of when you think of France and getting an actress who is great in the same sense that when I was making Barcelona, I thought of Penelope Cruz and Javier Bardem because they are the internationally known giants of that country. The same thing here. Marion is not just a local French actress, she’s a great, internationally known movie actress. And she was available and willing to do it.

THR: Is that unusual for you, to rewrite a character to suit an actor?

Allen: That does happen, and I’m happy to do it if I can get an actor like Owen, who is a strong person to play something. Then I am perfectly willing to rewrite a character if I can rewrite it. Of course, there are some characters that you could never change. That would ruin the story. But very often you can adjust a character. If you have a strong personality, sometimes it requires an adjustment.

[From The Hollywood Reporter]

Ideally, Owen’s performance will be good enough that it will help revive his career after it went to the dogs with Marley and Me and Marmaduke, but we’ll have to wait and see on that one. For now and since it’s Cannes time, everyone wants to know whether the Sarkozys will attend the premiere, and even Woody admits that he has no idea if they’ll show up or not. While Carla hasn’t been snapped at the photocall, there’s still time for her to make an appearance at the premiere itself. In the meantime, here’s a look at the rest of the cast and some more on-set photos of Carla’s actressin’ skills.

New dad Owen Wilson is hanging out at bars and chatting up women

wenn5615673
This week’s US Weekly has a little blurb about Owen Wilson’s recent carousing that makes you wonder if everything is ok at home with his girlfriend and new baby. Owen welcomed son Robert Ford Wilson on January 10, along with his girlfriend, former air marshall Jade Duell, 28. There were stories in the tabloids about Owen’s baby potentially not being his, but most people assume that Wilson confirmed paternity once the baby was born.

In an appearance on the Tonight Show less than a month ago, Owen said he wasn’t getting much sleep due to his newborn son at home and that he was so tired he scoped out potential spots to take a nap wherever he went. He talked at length about his baby boy and seemed so proud to be a new dad. If this latest report is to be believed, things have changed quite a bit at the Wilson household. US Weekly reports that he was spotted out two nights in a row chatting with hot women at a bar until after midnight.

Just seven weeks after welcoming son Ford with gal pal Jade Duell, 28, Owen Wilson spent the night of March 4 carousing with women at the One Hundred Nights longue in Vancouver’s Opus Hotel. The actor, who was drinking, chatted up attractive blondes – and the good times didn’t end there.

At midnight, Wilson, 42, and a bunch of ladies piled into a limo. The next night, he did it all over again. “Only this time,” a source tells Hot Stuff [US Weekly], “they left at 1 A.M. instead of 12!”

[From US Weekly, print edition, March 28, 2011]

This sounds like Owen was alone, and that he was there just to talk to and pick up women. It’s not like it was a friend’s birthday or bachelor party or something that would explain why he was there, and he did it two nights in a row. Owen may love being a dad but he definitely seems to miss being single without responsibilities.

I should give him somewhat of a break, though, as he probably needed to be in Vancouver for business and was necessarily away from his wife and kid. Did he need to go out to a bar at night and flirt with a bunch of women too?

Owen Wilson on being a new dad – he scopes out potential nap spots

fp_6279149_little_focker_pr
Owen Wilson was on The Tonight Show last night promoting Hall Pass, which is out this Friday and looks like it could be funny. (Here’s a link to the trailer.) On The Tonight Show, Wilson looked really tired but happy and was gushing about his six week old son, Robert Ford Wilson.

New dad Owen Wilson opened up for the first time about his son Robert Ford, nearly 6 weeks, on Tuesday’s The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.

“I’m glowing,” the Hall Pass actor, 42, said of his baby boy with girlfriend Jade Duell, born in Hawaii on Jan. 14.

The star baby is a “very cute little boy and he’s doing well,” Wilson said. “It’s very exciting!”

Although Robert Ford takes his name from his grandfather (Wilson’s dad Robert), “he’ll probably go by ‘Ford,’” the actor said.

The laid-back comic star admitted he’s a little tuckered out like all new parents.

“What they say about newborns and not getting a lot of sleep, that’s true,” he told Jay Leno. “You look at every place as a potential nap place. I’m looking at this couch, maybe at commercial break, [I'll take a] little shut-eye there!”

[From US Weekly]

Owen also said that his son is named after his grandfather (Owen’s dad), Robert, but would probably go by his middle name, Ford. He joked that when his kid was older and he needs to get him to concentrate on his homework he’ll tell him “Ford focus.” For his first birthday, he’ll have a “Ford fiesta.” As for little Ford’s personality, he said “he’s so cute, he becomes sort of a little scenestealer when he comes into the room. Without even saying a lot he kind of has a Steve McQueen in Magnificent Seven [presence].” He also repeated the same thing he said earlier about how Ford looks like “other babies,” and that he couldn’t see a resemblance at this point.

There’s some question about the paternity of Owen’s son. His girlfriend’s ex seems to be talking smack about her to the tabloids, and has brought the timeline of her pregnancy into question. Many of you pointed out that Owen probably got a paternity test to confirm that he’s the dad.

Owen seems to be in a good place right now. He talked about how great he felt while he was throwing the ball around during the pre-game show at the Superbowl. You can tell that he’s exhausted but so thrilled to be a new dad. Things have really turned around for him.

Star: Owen Wilson’s baby might not be his

wenn3145731
There is some serious paternity drama potentially going on with Owen Wilson’s new baby, if Star Magazine is to be believed. In late January, Star ran a story that Owen Wilson’s girlfriend and the mother of his not yet one-month old son cheated on her live-in boyfriend with Owen. Owen’s girlfriend Jade Duell, 28, (here’s a link to a photo of her) worked as a federal air marshall and was in a serious relationship with another air marshall when she hooked up with Owen. Now Star is doubling down and claims to have “multiple sources” who suggest that Jade was with her boyfriend up until the time she got pregnant, meaning that the baby might not be Owen’s. Jade met Owen on a flight in 2009 and they had a long distance affair that supposedly didn’t become exclusive until Jade got knocked up. Here’s more from Star, and it sounds like their source is Jade’s ex:

“Around the time Jade got pregnant, she was still living and sleeping with her now ex-boyfriend,” and insider tells Star in a bombshell exclusive. “I don’t know if even she can say for sure who the father is!”

According to multiple sources, Jade was hooking up with Owen behind the back of her live-in lover, fellow air marshal Jason Hawryschuk. “They had bought a house in Virginia together,” says the insider. “Jason had no idea she was cheating on him with Owen.”

Owen, 42, first met Jade on a cross-country flight from LA to Washington, DC, in 2009, and their whirlwind affair took off quickly. “They were meeting up quite often, and she introduced him to some of her friends,” says the insider. “He would fly Jade off to California and Hawaii, but they were definitely not excclusive.”

That changed when Jade, 28, discovered she was expecting. “She immediately started making plans to move to Los Angeles,” reveals the insider. Jason finally found out about the affair when a coworker Jade confided in spilled the beans. When contacted by Star, Jason refused to comment.

If Owen turns out not to be the father… “He will be devastated.”

[From Star Magazine, print edition, February 28, 2011]

Those details sound sketchy, but it also sounds like Jade’s ex Jason has an axe to grind. This woman seems to have a pattern of cheating on her longterm boyfriends. That earlier article in Star claimed she was living with another guy, a different air marshall she bought a house with, back in 2007 when she ditched him similar to how she got rid of the next one. From the way Star worded the story, the other ex wasn’t sure she was cheating but suspected it. “They started drifting apart and [he] started thinking something fishy was going on. All of a sudden Jade told him she wants to move out. Within a few weeks she had a new boyfriend and [the ex] got stuck with the bills.”

Whatever is going on with this woman, she’s pissed off a few exes in her time. Hopefully the baby is Owen’s though. He recently gushed about being a dad and said “You really do have this bond, this real connection with this thing that a month ago wasn’t even here.” When asked if his son, Robert Ford, looked like him, Owen said “Babies look a lot more like other babies than they ever do like their parents. That’s what I’ve begun to notice.”

Owen Wilson named his son something normal, shock

wenn2943276

Apparently, there were some reports floating around that Owen Wilson and his baby-mama Jade Duell had named their newborn son Ford Linton Wilson. Those reports are wrong – the baby’s official and legal name is now Robert Ford Wilson. “Robert” is Owen’s father’s name, but no one knows where Ford comes in. Maybe Owen is hoping for some voiceover commercial work for Ford?

Another possibility: Robert Ford was the famous assassin of Jesse James. Perhaps an ode to the wild west? Perhaps Owen is a big Casey Affleck fan… remember that Brad Pitt film, The Assassination of Jesse James By the Coward Robert Ford? Casey played Ford, Brad played Jesse James. That’s all I’ve got.

According to the National Enquirer, Owen decided to name the baby Robert Ford on the spur of the moment, deciding on his father’s name “at the last minute.”

Oh, and the baby was born in Hawaii. I expect a flood of wing nuts to descend any moment and demand to see Robert Ford’s birth certificate. Just kidding!

Owen Wilson’s girlfriend gave birth to a baby boy

wenn3145805

That was fast, wasn’t it? Less than a week after the announcement came that Owen Wilson’s girlfriend Jade Duell were expecting a baby, Jade gave birth to a baby boy. The whole thing went down in Hawaii, where it seems Jade has been ensconced within Owen’s Hawaiian property for some time. Some people are calling this whole thing a victory for privacy and for the non-famewhore celebrity. Sure. That’s one explanation. Another explanation is that the whole thing is sketchy. But I won’t get into all of that here and now – I’ll just congratulate the happy family!

Owen Wilson has a Little Focker of his own: He and his girlfriend, Jade Duell, have welcomed a son.

“Everyone is doing well,” his rep tells PEOPLE.

The baby was born in Hawaii.

Wilson and Duell have been dating for more than a year, according to Entertainment Weekly. News of Wilson’s impending fatherhood was just revealed on Jan. 10.

This is the first child for the actor, 42, who currently stars in Little Fockers.

[From People]

This reminds me a little bit of theIsla Fisher and Sacha Baron Cohen thing, when they came across as extremely paranoid about even confirming the birth of their second child. At least Owen’s rep confirmed the baby’s birth… that bodes well, honestly. Do you think we’ll even get a confirmation on the name? I don’t even know. Oh, well. I hope everyone is happy and healthy and that my worst suspicions are nowhere near the truth.

Owen Wilson’s girlfriend is expecting their first child, due any day now

wenn3145543

What the hell? There has been a string of “What the out-of-nowhere hell…?” announcements as of late, and here’s yet another one: Owen Wilson is going to be a father. His girlfriend – a woman I have never even heard of – is pregnant. Her name is Jade Buell Duell. Not only is she preggo, she’s expecting any day now. The hell?

Owen Wilson’s about to report for daddy duty. A source close to the actor tells UsMagazine.com that his girlfriend Jade Duell is pregnant and “due any day.”

Buell is currently in Hawaii, where she plans to give birth.

First-time dad Wilson, 42, is “very excited and involved with the pregnancy,” the insider tells Us, adding that the couple “want to do everything as natural as possible.”

The Little Fockers star, whose past loves have included Kate Hudson and Sheryl Crow, “has been been doing research and learning as much as he can. He’s super into it and asks a lot of questions to make sure he knows what’s going on every step of the way.”

[From Us Weekly]

Well, it looks like the Butterscotch Stallion has struck. Congrats to happy parents-to-be, and I hope everybody is happy and healthy in these last days of the pregnancy. They certainly kept this under wraps, right? It makes me wonder if the whole thing is less about “privacy” and more about something sketchy (or “sketchier”). But hopefully Owen is healthy these days, and… yeah, he’s 42 years old. I don’t see why he wouldn’t be prepared to be a dad.

UPDATE: Us Weekly’s original report identified the baby-mama’s name as “Jade Buell” but the name has now been confirmed as Jade Duell. My bad!
