Kate Hudson’s estranged husband Chris Robinson just filed for divorce after they were separated for about three months. That may have been the opening Kate’s semi-secret lover and costar, Owen Wilson, was looking for. He was said to be eyeing engagement rings at a Harry Winston store with his mother in tow:

IT looks like Owen Wilson is about to pop the question to Kate Hudson. The so-called “Butterscotch Stallion” was spotted Friday with his mother at the Harry Winston store at the Highland Park Mall in Dallas. “They were looking at a huge, pear-shaped, flawless diamond engagement ring,” said our witness. Owen and Hudson fell in love filming “You, Me and Dupree” last year, and Hudson soon left rocker hubby Chris Robinson. Though the bauble was an engagement band, a rep for Wilson said, “Owen’s mother was looking for jewelry for herself.”

It could be true that the visit was just for Wilson’s mom and she cajoled him into checking out the engagement rings. You know how moms can be pushy like that when there are potential grandchildren to be had.

There was a report last month that Kate Hudson was “about” to file for divorce from her husband of six years, scruffy Chris Robinson, but that turned out not to be true because no one has filed the paperwork yet.

Chris is currently touring with his band, The Black Crowes, and it is said that Kate is annoyed that he’s away from their two year-old son so often, which may have led to their breakup. It is also rumored that Chris wants to get back together with Kate and make the relationship work, and that Kate’s mom, Goldie Hawn, is also pushing for a reconciliation.

Star has a story in their latest edition about how Kate “tamed” her new boyfriend, Owen Wilson, but their only evidence is Owen’s toned-up physique and the fact that he doesn’t hang out at the Playboy Mansion any more. Kate and Owen are set to spend some time apart while she films “Fool’s Gold” with Matthew McConaughey in Australia in November, and Kate may have postponed filming to spend more time with Owen.

Star also runs a shocking picture on their cover of Kate’s 20 year-old brother, Wyatt Russell, on a stretcher.It turns out that Wyatt only suffered a back spasm and shoulder injury while he was playing hockey.

Overall it seems like there’s not a lot of meat to this story.

I don’t know if these pictures of Owen Wilson’s ass are new, but they’re new to me and his butt is pretty cute so I’ll publish them.

Owen likes asses himself, and responded to an allegation that he tossed a woman’s salad for two hours by saying that “there’s lots of different paths to the waterfall.”

Owen is helping Kate Hudson find her way to the waterfall. The new couple have to spend time apart over the next few weeks as they work on film projects on different continents, but friends say that Owen and Kate’s relationship is solid and that Owen has become “like part of the family.”

Not everyone is reportedly pleased with Kate’s hookup so soon after – or preceding – the breakup of her marriage to Chris Robinson. Her mother Goldie is said to be encouraging Kate to reconcile with Robinson, who is the father of her two year-old son Ryder.

Kate has since vacationed in Hawaii with her “You, Me and Dupree” co-star Owen Wilson and was spotted out at dinner with him this weekend.

Owen has vehemently denied being responsible for Hudson’s breakup, but it looks like he might be the impetus for the divorce. An insider tells US that Kate is about to file:

We’ll have to wait just a little while to see if this is true. Given the couple’s split and Kate and Owen’s new romance, it seems likely.

x17 reports that Owen Wilson and Kate Hudson are both enjoying a nice vacation in Maui, as evidenced by pictures of the two frolicking quite separately from each other. Is it a case of same place, same time, a photo agency sticking some pictures side by side and claiming that they’re both there, or are they getting together back at the hotel and going out separately during the day?

Update: They are indeed in Maui enjoying each other’s company. Star reports that they were spotted out at dinner together.

Kate Hudson is now said to be riding the Buttersotch stallion, her co-star Owen Wilson, which people speculate hastened the end of her marriage to Black Crowes singer Chris Robinson. Kate also made many comments suggesting that Chris was unfaithful on tour, but as long as she didn’t know about it she wouldn’t worry. It turns out that it’s worse than that. The PopBitch e-mail newsletter claims that Chris got Kate involved in orgies and she wasn’t into it:

If that’s true she probably doesn’t mind a little friendly tossed salad with Owen as long as he has eyes only for her.

That’s sad and goes to show that it really doesn’t matter how hot, rich or sweet someone is if their partner wants to cheat.

My husband and I have a theory, though, that only unattractive and/or overweight people are swingers. We saw a German “documentary” on swingers and most of them were butt ugly. This blows that theory completely out of the water.
