Paul McCartney pays 380k for audiotapes made by deceased wife

Admist seemingly bogus allegations by harpie Heather Mills that Paul McCartney beat her during their nearly four year marriage and was abusive to his beloved ex-wife Linda, Paul McCartney has paid 200,000 pounds, or over $380,000 USD for 20 hours of audiotaped interviews with Linda. Linda McCartney became good friends with Peter Cox, with whom she collaborated on a vegetarian cookbook published in 1989. Cox was in possession of the taped recordings he made with Linda in preparation for the book and had signed a legal agreement in 1998 that he would keep them private. He was forthcoming about their existence, though, and said that he would reveal details of his friendship with Linda if compelled to by a court of law.

Cox recently handed over the tapes to Paul in exchange for the exhorbitant sum of cash in a “secret” meeting that took place in a London restaurant. Paul tried to evade trailing journalists on his way to the meeting, but didn’t shake The Daily Mail, which reported on the incident in its Sunday edition:

Linda is said to have cried on tape and to have revealed intimate details of her married life on the tapes to Cox, who was her dear friend and confidant. She is even said to have considered leaving Paul.

The recordings – which his second wife Heather Mills wants to use as part of her divorce claim that he was abusive towards her – were handed over to Sir Paul during an extraordinary cloak-and-dagger meeting in a Central London cafe.

Sir Paul bought the tapes from literary agent Peter Cox, who made them with Linda when he was co-authoring her 1989 book Linda McCartney’s Home Cooking.

The two men met up in Eat in Soho Square on Wednesday morning and spent almost half an hour together as the ex-Beatle poured his heart out about his marital troubles in full view of their astonished fellow diners.

Customers in the cafe told how they overhead Sir Paul claim that Heather has demanded an £80million divorce settlement – the first time anyone in the divorce has revealed what she is actually asking for.

“Everyone recognised him the moment he walked in,” a customer said. “There was a bearded guy waiting for him and they took the table next to me. Paul didn’t seem to be worried about who was listening or he wouldn’t have spoken the way he did.

“He started off talking about what great kids he had but the subject soon changed to Heather and that was when he became very agitated and upset.

“I remember him saying that all she thought about was money and that she had asked for £80million. He said something like, ‘She is going to take me for £80million, because we now know it’s for £80million. All she thinks about is dollars’. He even drew dollar signs to emphasise it.”

Sir Paul also repeatedly branded his estranged wife a liar, adding: “Everyone knows she is a liar, she even lied in her autobiography. Everybody knows that…”

Sir Paul was dressed in a stylish dark suit with a crisp white shirt underneath, according to one diner.

She added: “He came in and was very friendly to everyone. I remember him asking the Polish waitress were she was from. The bearded guy was carrying this huge white envelope, and when they sat down together he put it down next to Paul and said, “This is for you”.

“Paul immediately picked it up, broke the seal and began rummaging inside. Then he turned to the bearded guy and said something like, ‘We must keep this out of the papers…’

“He said, ‘She’s (Heather) not at all nice, or at all compassionate, she just wants the money’. He drew the dollar sign in the air again. Then he said something like, ‘She wants it all, but no, we’ll try to find a way to sort it out’.

“Paul said he was trying to put it all to the back of his mind but said he was ‘entrenched’ by it.

“He did this thing with his hands, with two fingers pointing at each other, saying how they were so at odds with each other.

“Paul said he had tried to remain on friendly terms with her after they separated but then said she ‘flipped’.

“He said, ‘I was prepared to settle things amicably but suddenly Heather turned and something happened to her after that. She has told so many lies like the one about me being a drunk – just because I sometimes go to pubs. It’s all a pack of lies you know, that I am stingy – that’s another one‘.”

The diner added: “Paul said, ‘When she wrote her autobiography she lied, you know, we all know that. Saying I was a drunk and that I used her. It’s not true. She lies and lies. Then it all goes on and on with her playing up to the papers.

“‘And it’s all c**p and rubbish. If she doesn’t get what she wants she’ll pick a fight. It’s all lies that she has told her solicitors and all I can do is to try and keep calm. It’s just my luck to have all these problems. I am really miserable, bullied actually. It just p***** me off, it is such c**p. I am being described as a b****** and it’s just not true’.”

She added: “He said no one had told him what Heather was really like when he married her. He said his daughter Stella was the only one who warned him. Then he said, “She (Heather) really hates Stella“.”

The diner said that soon afterwards Sir Paul announced that he had to go to a meeting. She added: “He left with the big envelope the other guy brought in and I saw him get into a people carrier waiting up the street.”

Linda succumbed to breast cancer in 1998, and is said to have never spent a night apart from Paul in the 30 years she was with him. Paul’s relationship with Linda is generally considered beyond reproach, and nearly everyone thinks Heather Mills is the guilty lying party in his recent divorce. This latest news makes it seem as if McCartney had something to hide, and indeed Cox has said that Linda often had to borrow five or ten pounds when they were out together because Paul didn’t give her even a little bit of cash to spend. No one’s marriage is perfect, though, and Paul might be buying the tapes as insurance in case Heather decides to use any of his wife’s intimate chats with a friend against him.

Paul told the BBC on Saturday that he doesn’t hold grudges against anyone, and that he’s understandably sad, but that life goes on and that he’s optimistic about it. He said “When you are going through difficulties, I think the thing to do for the sake of all the people concerned is to keep a certain dignity and remember that it is a private affair.”

Heather’s first husband claims she beat the crap out of him (thanks Agent Bedhead for the tip), and her own father says that she’s a liar and that he believes Paul. If anything went on in Paul’s first marriage, it was probably the normal problems that every couple has. I’ll choose to believe a beloved rock legend over an ex prostitute and porn model any day, and hopefully the courts will agree with me.

Heather Mills is too greedy for her own good

Heather Mills’ plan to try and smear the good name of Paul McCartney is about to blow up in her face. Someone leaked details of Mills’ explosive allegations against Sir Paul in the divorce papers to the British press. While Mills denies being the source of the leak, which was received by anonymous fax, she does not deny making the claims.

One of Heather’s friends says that she has videotape and audiotape to back up her unbelievable account of her relationship with the gentle Beatles’ star. They also claim that Paul beat up his first beloved wife, Linda!

Paul’s friend and former aide of 15 years, Geoff Baker, was fired in 2004 because he didn’t get along with harpy Heather. He still defends Paul and says that by no stretch of the imagination is he capable of what Heather is claiming. He says that he was around at the time that Heather claims Paul beat her, and that it was Heather who made the relationship abusive and unbearable. He refutes her claims point by point, basically making her seem like a lying idiot:

“To brand Paul a wife-beater is the most absurd f***ing claim anyone can make,” storms Geoff.

“I was with them for four years when she says a lot of this took place. On my son’s life I NEVER saw him lay a finger on her or throw abuse at her. Absolutely no way. Her allegations are outrageous lies. It is pure wickedness.”

LIE ONE: In her leaked court papers, Heather claims that in an argument in Los Angeles in November, 2002 Paul “grabbed her by the neck and pushed her over a coffee table.”

GEOFF SAYS: “I was on tour with Paul then and there is no way he did that. They had only been married five months and seemed very much in love. They were often pictured on the tour laughing and smiling because they were having such a great time.

“If Paul really had grabbed Heather and pushed her over a coffee table, you can guarantee I would have heard. There were 198 people on that tour and it would have gone round like wildfire…”

LIE FIVE: The court papers claim Macca told Heather she should not breastfeed their daughter Bea because “they are my breasts”.

GEOFF SAYS: “Who is she talking about? That’s not Paul. There is no way he would say such a thing. When Heather claims Paul tried to prevent her breast-feeding, this is the same man who had three children with Linda. She always said how much she and Paul wanted everything to happen so naturally. So what Heather is saying is again all bullsh*t.”

So while Paul may take the high road and say that he’ll see the bitch in court, his friends are more than willing to come to his defense and reveal what a liar Heather is.

Along with being a hooker and a porn model, Heather tried to impersonate a journalist called Heather Mills in the early 90s. The more respectable Heather Mills says that Heather tried to secure work as a TV journalist by using her identity and clippings from her published work.

All of this blatant fabrication should cost Heather millions, and perhaps the custody of the couple’s two year-old daughter, Beatrice. Legal experts say that all of these lies will count against Heather in the divorce settlement. She may care dearly about Paul’s money, but her dedication to her daughter is suspect. It is said that she left Paul alone with little Beatrice for days.

Guy who introduced Heather to Paul blasts her in an open letter

The guy responsible for introducing grieving Paul McCartney to acerbic activist Heather Mills cannot believe the bullshit she’s claiming against the beloved rocker in the leaked divorce papers. He says he’s really sorry for even bringing them together in the first place, and that Heather is an opportunistic liar:

I introduced her to Paul after the show, and before I knew it they’d fallen in love. It was supposed to be the happy-ever-after script that everyone wanted for the world’s favourite, tragic, Beatle.

But Heather quickly began attracting unfavourable headlines. Her past, to put it mildly, was ‘murky’. She’d been a party girl for wealthy Arabs, had run through boyfriends and fiancés like a bull through Pamplona, and developed an unfortunate tendency to tell endless porky pies about herself.

She was also a fiery little number, prone to rages, rows and general ‘anger management’ issues.

Stories soon emerged that the marriage was in trouble – at one stage I was played a tape of a message Paul had left for Heather on her mobile phone.

It was heartbreaking. The couple had clearly had a tiff, Heather had fled to India, and Paul was pleading with her to come back. He sounded lonely, miserable and desperate, and even sang ‘We Can Work It Out’ into the answerphone.

But despite it all, I still rather liked and admired Heather. When I interviewed her for a TV series, I found her to be a tough cookie with a waspish sense of humour, who was rightly proud of the very effective work she does for charity.

But I also didn’t believe a lot of what she said, and thought she was ludicrously obsessed with – and touchy about – the Press. I could also sense a growing – and even more ludicrous – irritation that she had to constantly play second fiddle to Paul…

The separation, when it came, only served to confirm what many already suspected: there had been three of them in the marriage – Paul, Heather and her Ego, and one of them had to go. It was Paul…

We all love Macca because he’s always seemed such a nice, ordinary type, relatively untainted by fame. And that’s why Heather has made such a hideous mistake in making all these horrible allegations about her husband in the divorce papers.

Even if she was not directly responsible for the leak, she must have known that the details would come out, and presumably assumed we’d all read them with horror and a sudden new sympathy for this poor, tortured, tormented soul.

But we didn’t, Heather. We all read them with horror alright – horror that you could be so disgusting about our Paul. As for sympathy, that’s all going to swing even further his way. Fast.

Any sympathy I once had for Miss Mills has evaporated. Instead, I am filled with guilt and sorrow that, as a lifelong Beatles fan, I am at least partly responsible for the hell Paul McCartney is going through at the hands of this vengeful, shameless, ghastly woman.

Paul, it may be a bit late now, but I’m sorry.

[via Lainey's Gossip]

That’s precious. Heather Mills is making shit up about Paul and it’s only making her look bad. I hope lots more comes out in the divorce details.

This woman was a hooker and a porn model before she rose to fame after losing her leg in an accident. She landed the head Beatle, and she couldn’t stand sharing the spotlight with him. Now she won’t have to, because the press is going to be looking at her with intense scrutiny now, and all the bugs she has under the carpet are going to come scurrying out.

Paul McCartney takes the high road when accused of abuse

In a page taken from Denise Richard’s divorce book, harpy Heather Mills has levelled a barrage of abuse claims against rock legend Paul McCartney, including allegations that he cut her with a broken wine glass, shoved her while she was pregnant, and was made to stop breastfeeding their child because McCartney claimed her boobs were for his enjoyment alone.

Instead of addressing any of her ridiculous claims, McCartney has issued a blanket statement saying he’ll see the bitch in court. Heather Mills is reportedly “shocked” by the news that she made those allegations against Paul, but considering that she didn’t deny making them, it’s safe to assume she’s just “shocked” by the fact that the news spread so quickly:

The Daily Mail published extracts from what it said was a court document filed by Mills McCartney in response to the former Beatle’s divorce petition, lodged in July.

The alleged document contains a litany of allegations against the musician.

Mills McCartney’s spokesman, Phil Hall, described the divorce proceedings as “highly confidential” and said he could not confirm whether the document was genuine. He said Mills McCartney had been “shocked” by the story in the Daily Mail.

Mishcon de Reya, the law firm representing Mills MCcartney in the divorce, said it would not comment on “leaked or allegedly leaked documents.”

Paul McCartney’s law firm said the musician “would very much like to respond in public and in detail to the allegations made recently against him by his wife and published in the press but he recognizes, on advice, that the only correct forum for his response to the allegations made against him is in the current divorce proceedings.”

“Our client is saddened by the breakdown of his marriage and requests that his family is allowed to conduct their personal affairs out of the media spotlight for the sake of everybody involved,” the statement added.

Normally I would feel sympathy for an abused wife, but considering the amount of money at stake and the fact that it’s Heather Mills making the allegations, I seriously doubt much of this is true. If it was accurate, wouldn’t she have called the police or a friend or something? This is Paul McCartney, and it seems like news that he was so vicious to his wife would have been leaked to the rabid British tabloids at the time.

Sir Paul McCartney dedicates his new album to his late wife

In a classy ever-so-subtle dig at the harpie he’s divorcing, Heather Mills, Paul McCartney has dedicated his new album to the memory of his dear wife, Linda, who succumbed to breast cancer in 1998. He held a press conference for his new classical album, Ecce Cor Meum (Behold My Heart). He spoke of how he poured his pain into the new album and used it as a way to work though his sadness. He ended the press conference good-naturedly when a reporter asked about his divorce:

McCartney, 64, spoke at a press conference in London for his new classical album, Ecce Cor Meum (Behold My Heart). Asked how he’s faring these days, he said, “I’m doing fine. It’s okay. I am enjoying music. It’s something I love to do. It’s something that sustains me.”

The new album was inspired by McCartney’s late wife, Linda, who died of breast cancer in 1998. “It was started when Linda was alive,” he said. “It has a lot of my feelings for her in it.

“When she died it stalled me and it took a year or so to before I could get back into it,” he continued. “And the interlude in the middle, the sad melody, is what got me back into it. So her spirit is very much in this. It would have been her birthday yesterday, so it’s very appropriate.

The press conference came to an end when a reporter asked about a story that had appeared in the morning’s newspapers, apparently quoting McCartney as saying he found it hard to cope with his split from Mills.

McCartney said, “Now wait a minute. You’re a little renegade, coming out of the corner here. I haven’t read the Daily Mirror today. Have we someone breaking away from the script? I think we have.”

Paul had such a bond with Linda, and it’s sad and bittersweet that he is dedicating this album to her.

There was a report that Heather Mills was banned from a supermarket this weekend after being recognized for shoplifting there as a teenager, but that was undoubtedly a story made up by the British press, who are now free to make fun of her openly. (I may not believe that story, but I do think she was a high-paid hooker in the 80s. NSFW)

Heather and Paul’s divorce is said to be moving along amicably, with people speculating she could receive up to 200 million of his 800 million pound fortune as a settlement. Paul and Heather did not have a prenuptual agreement.

Thanks to Best Week Ever for the header picture of Paul showing us his real worth.

Heather Mills got it on with the guy she posed with in the porny “Lovers Guide”

Heather Mills says that sex book she posed for in the 80s wasn’t hardcore porn at all – it was just an innocent “Lover’s Guide” meant to help frigid Germans better connect with their significant others.

It seems like the poses in the book are effective, because the guy she’s pictured with says he made sweet love to her afterwards:

LADY Mucca’s partner in porn is set to tell the world they had passionate sex over and over again after the cameras stopped clicking.

The curly-haired male model is hoping to bag thousands of pounds by selling his story of how he did it for real with Heather Mills.

His move will heap yet more shame on Sir Paul McCartney’s estranged wife — mother of his two-year-old daughter Beatrice.

Yesterday it emerged her divorce settlement from the former Beatle could be slashed.

Lawyers for 63-year-old Paul are bound to cite her pornographic past as grounds for his payout — until now estimated at £200million — to be reduced.

Heather, 38, suffered a THIRD knock as it was revealed top shelf men’s magazines are preparing to publish some of the filthiest images from her photo shoot with the male model.

There’s also no way that book is just a how-to manual, since there is no text in it that would add even a smidgeon of legitimacy to Mills’ claim.

The Sun asked everyday people to review it for uh, educational content, and they were unanimous that it’s porn:

Shown pages of the German book, called The Joys of Love, catering worker Madeline Johnson said: “It’s just too rude to be a guide — the pictures show everything.” Madeline, 30, of Clapton, East London, added: “It would have some sort of text if it was meant to be educational. It’s definitely porn.”

Journalist Ruth Lumley, 26, of Brighton, said: “Blimey, I’ve never come across a ‘sex education’ book that has whipped cream in it.”

Facilities manager John Bertram, 52, of Manchester, said: “It would need more text and less in the way of edible undies and thongs. In this situation Heather is definitely a porn star.”

Printer Andrew Love, 42, of Basildon, Essex, declared the book “fairly hard core”.

And engineer Stuart Lye, 31, of Chingford, Essex, said: “After ten pages it’s clear you’re not going to learn much with all these whips and things.”

The more details we learn, the more it seems like the leak of these dirty pictures is definitely beneficial to Sir Paul, even if he didn’t get joint custody of his daughter.

Heather Mills gains full custody of her daughter

Heather Mills McCartney denies that the porny pictures of her that came out this week are hardcore, stating instead that they were for a German “lover’s guide” to help couples spice up their relationship:

A letter sent to The Sun editor Rebekah Wade reads, “This photo shoot, undertaken approximately 20 years ago, was for the purpose of a ‘lover’s guide’ to caring relationships and instructive sex in the same way as are many other books on the market.

“The photo shoot was not pornographic or for the purposes of gratification of the viewer.”

She can’t deny that it’s her or that she’s performing simulated sexual acts for the camera. It’s a clever defense that shouldn’t do much to stem the embarassment from the photos. She can always add this to the nasty “Fact vs. Fiction” section of her website for posterity.

McCartney is said to be “devastated” by the explicit pictures of Mills that were published in The Sun, and may have discussed them with Mills on Monday:

“This has come as a real shock to Paul and those around him. He is beside himself over the whole thing.”

“His priority is making sure his daughter Beatrice’s best interests are looked after.”

Meanwhile one of Heather’s friends said that she was advised against having a baby due to medical limitations and that she only had two and a half year-old Beatrice to please Paul.

Despite fleeing to Yugoslavia recently without her child, Mills has gained full custody of her daugher, with visitation rights for McCartney.

Heather plans to appear on Larry King Live to give her story about the breakup. We can’t wait.

We also wonder if her “Life Balance” book will be released next month as scheduled. Releasing a preachy self help book during her high profile divorce won’t make her a hypocrite or anything.

We don’t really like Heather Mills McCartney

I didn’t pay much attention to Heather Mills in the past, and my opinion of her was positive and based on the fact that she’s an animal activist and an amputee who just seems to shrug off her disability. Now that she’s getting a divorce from Paul McCartney, all these stories of her opportunism have come out. Of course Mills and McCartney have denied that she married him for his money, and maybe that’s true. That doesn’t mean you have to like her, though.

The PopBitch newsletter posted this link to the official “Facts” on Heather’s website, and she sounds so reactionary and full of herself that I can’t help but come away with a negative opinion of her. Maybe she just has a terribly aggressive publicist, but why would she justify personal attacks with such vehement denials? Here’s just one of the Fact vs. Fiction reports on her website, which are highlighted on the page in ugly red and green:

FICTION: “Heather’s failure when interviewing Paul Newman on Larry King Live”

FACT: “Contrary to spiteful reports in the British press, Heather’s interview with Paul Newman on CNN’s “Larry King Live” was very well received, particularly by Paul Newman himself. His publicist of over 40 yrs, Warren Cowan wrote the following day: “Wonderful Job! I cannot tell you how many people have raved to me about your interview with Paul (Newman). He was delighted with it. So was I. The fact that the hour flew by so quickly is a testament to your interviewing skills. Take a bow, Heather, A Deep One”….

Wendy Whitworth (Executive Vice President of CNN & Senior Executive Producer of Larry King Live): “Heather came to the desk prepared for the spotlight. She was meticulous in her research and thorough in her presentation. Once again, Heather demonstrated her abilities with her well-known poise and intelligence”

Larry King: “Heather was a smart, charming and gracious guest host. She was very well prepared. I had no doubt! I would love for her to be my resident host ”

Paul Newman: “She seduces you into feeling stylishly confident.”"

It goes on to rebut many other “fictions” about Mills in a similar snotty, over-the-top tone. Even if Mills isn’t writing that crap herself, she would surely have to approve it. WTF?

McCartney’s children, including fashion designer Stella McCartney, are said to dislike Mills and go out of their way to avoid her.

An editorial in Britian’s Telegraph lays out the case for disliking Mills:

According to his friends, it was her criticism and nagging that pushed [McCartney] over the edge – a paradoxical accusation for a woman who, in her new self-help book, Life Balance, to be published next week, gives us her tips for “spiritual, physical and emotional” happiness.

Although it is hardly unusual for children to be enthusiastic about a stepmother, the silence from Paul McCartney’s three children from his first marriage has been deafening. Fashion designer Stella, in particular, has done little to hide her disapproval of Heather. At the Live8 concert last year, she very publicly moved away from Heather, not wanting to talk to her father in his wife’s presence and also ensuring there were no happy-family photo opportunities.

Few, it seems, have a good word to say for her. Geoff Baker, Paul McCartney’s long-standing press officer, was dismissed last year, reportedly at Heather’s instigation after falling out with her. At the time, Baker would say nothing on the subject, but his next move spoke volumes. He took a job as an editor of a golfing magazine and chose for the cover of his first issue a nude Heather McCartney lookalike with a golf ball resting on her cleavage.

Unfortunately Heather Mills is said to now require a wheelchair to get around as she recovers from an amputation surgery and copes with the stress from the dissolution of her marriage. That’s too bad, but it doesn’t mean she deserves our pity or our admiration.

She is due to put out a book next month, called “Life Balance,” in which she refutes claims that she married McCartney for his wealth.

In her upcoming book she says that being called a golddigger was “worse than losing my leg.” She has also cancelled a launch party for the book. Given the circumstances that’s probably a good idea.

Friends say that the couple broke up after four years partly because Heather hated the adoration McCartney received, and refused to join him on tour. She was also said to have criticized McCartney’s style, and to have attempted to makeover his image.

If she’s such a great person she wouldn’t work so hard to tell everyone about it.

Paul McCartney and Heather Mills to split? (update: it’s official)

It is expected that Paul McCartney, 63, will announce that he and his wife of nearly four years, Heather Mills, 38, are separating:

PAUL McCartney is seeking a formal trial split from wife Heather because he believes they can no longer endure their private hell.

In recent months the couple’s always stormy four-year marriage has been punctuated by ever more explosive rows.

They were due to have crisis talks at the weekend. But Macca, 63, decided he could not face another emotionally draining bust-up.

He told one friend: “We really can’t go on like this. It’s not fair on either of us. Enough is enough.”

A source disclosed: “Paul hasn’t come to this decision lightly, but felt things couldn’t carry on as they were.

“He and Heather were getting on so badly it became impossible for them to sleep under the same roof.

“Paul is desperately hoping some time apart will give them the space to work out whether they want the relationship to continue.

“It’s terribly sad for them. We’re very concerned it’s all over. But nobody has entirely lost hope.”

Sir Paul, who insists the couple can rekindle their love, is expected to tell close family and friends of his bombshell decision today.

Mills received surgery on her amputated leg three weeks ago, and has been staying at her East Sussex home with her sister as she recovers.

McCartney has been staying in another of his homes just 55 miles away, but has avoided his wife. The couple’s two year-old daughter has been chauffered back and forth between their two homes.

That’s sad news but maybe they’ll be able to reconcile for the sake of their daughter.

Update: McCartney and Mills have released a statement announcing the split. It’s pretty weak that they blame the press for their problems, though:

“Having tried exceptionally hard to make our relationship work given the daily pressures surrounding us, it is with sadness that we have decided to go our separate ways,” the couple said in a joint statement.

“Our parting is amicable and both of us still care about each other very much but have found it increasingly difficult to maintain a normal relationship with constant intrusion into our private lives, and we have actively tried to protect the privacy of our child,” the statement continued.

“Separation for any couple is difficult enough, but to have to go through this so publicly, especially with a small daughter, is immensely stressful. We hope, for the sake of our baby daughter, that we will be given some space and time to get through this difficult period.”
