Pete Doherty has managed to keep a pretty low profile lately, at least in the U.S. Last we heard from him, he was out of rehab and battling a newfound pie addiction. Which frankly, I understand more than a drug addiction. Pies taste awesome. The only thing more addicting would be cake. But now Pete’s moved on to a new addiction – one that may cancel out the aforementioned pie addiction. It seems good ‘ol Petey is addiction to running. You heard me right. Supposedly he’s training for the Flora London Marathon, and is so committed to the cause that he even went to the gym when he was in Paris for a concert recently. But to all addictions there is a downside, and this one is bloody awful.

The troubled Babyshambles rocker, who is in training for this year’s Flora London Marathon, complains his T-shirts are chafing his chest and has been borrowing 19-year-old model Portia Freeman’s padded underwear to ease the pain.

A source said: “He’s doing so well. He’s really serious about kicking drugs and this is really testing his will power and giving him a goal.

“All that is putting him off are his amazingly sore nipples, but Portia’s underwear is really helping.”

Something tells me this is likely more the joke of one of Pete’s friends than truth. But on the other hand it is Pete Doherty, and if anyone would find it perfectly normal to wear his girlfriend’s padded bras in an attempt to protect his own chafing nipples, it would be Pete Doherty. Pete, may I suggest Nip Guards? They’re padded sticky male pasties that stick to your nipples to prevent chafing and bleeding when running. They’re weird, but definitely more dignified than wearing your girlfriend’s bra.

In other Doherty news, Pete’s been working on a new solo album, but has quashed rumors that his band Babyshambles is breaking up.

“It doesn’t conflict with Babyshambles at all. It’s just a continuation of what I do. I’ve always done solo recording but instead of just knocking it out on the internet like I used to, I’m getting a little album together.”

While it’s good they’re not breaking up, something tells me that given Doherty’s history of crazy antics like throwing a vial of his own blood on people and getting a kitten high – his bandmates may be a little wary of the bra wearing. Just a thought.

There are bad ideas and then there are terrible ideas. A bad idea is something along the lines of “Hey, let’s pack this bathtub with hot dogs and then fill it up with really hot water and see if we can cook them.” A really bad idea (though equally stupid) is something along the lines of “Let’s get the two most drugged up and unreliable musicians on the scene today, and put them on a stage together.” After sitting around asking themselves, “What’s the stupidest thing we could do?” MTV execs have decided to go with the later, and have decided to have not just Pete Doherty but also Amy Winehouse perform at the MTV Europe Music Awards. Though to be fair, it’s likely that Pete Doherty has filled his bathtub to the brim with hot dogs at least once.

Amy Winehouse and Pete Doherty are being lined up to duet at the MTV Europe Music Awards tonight. The pair are already booked to perform solo performances at the bash in Munich, but Pete, 28, wants to share the stage with his North London neighbour. First Babyshambles are expected to sing single Delivery, while Amy – who is nominated for 3 gongs – is keeping her choice of solo number under wraps. Can’t wait to see what they choose to belt out together

‘It’s been a closely-guarded secret and may still fall apart at the last minute,’ a source tells the Daily Mirror. ‘This duet could be a blinding success or an unmitigated disaster if they’ve been on the booze or any dodgy substances.’

Pete, who says he’s been clean since leaving rehab, is now dating a blonde stylist called Becky, 28, after splitting with fiancée Irina Lazareanu. Amy, 24, of course, is still loved up with husband Blake Fielder-Civil. At a gig in Amersterdam last week, she kept leaving the stage to snog her spouse.

I’m guessing the stage will somehow end up on fire – and not in the cool, planned pyrotechnics kind of way. Somehow, Amy will end up running around in bloody ballet shoes while Pete feeds crack to a kitten. That’d be funny if those weren’t both things the two have actually done lately. Though if nothing else, I’m sure they can trade recipes. You know, how to make the best pot brownies, where’s the best place to inject a needle that even a doctor won’t suspect. That sort of thing. I’m sure we’ll have a wonderful story to report tomorrow… hopefully with video.

When I first heard this story, I thought Pete Doherty was given an actual four months in jail for one of his many drug busts and I got all excited. The British press is reporting that he got a “suspended prison term” of four months, which to me meant his expanding ass is getting hauled to the slammer. It’s a suspended sentence though, and it’s suspended for two years, so that essentially means he’s on probation and if he gets through that time period without getting into trouble again he won’t have to go to jail. (Most of you guys probably know that term already, but it was new to me so forgive me for explaining it.)

Since Doherty has shown that he was able to kick drugs, he was given the lighter sentence along with “an 18-month supervision order and a one-year drug rehabilitation order.” He also has to pay a £475 fine, equivalent to $973 USD, for driving without insurance or an MOT sticker, which is the British car inspection. Pete was just released from a drug treatment order last Wednesday after he proved that he has quit drugs and is just drinking and eating heavily.

Pete has narrowly escaped jail and he’s also out of his recent relationship. He is said to have dumped Kate Moss’ TopShop model Irina Lazareanu because she was too clingy. That’s kind of ironic, considering that Pete is said to be calling his ex, Kate Moss, so much after he split with Lazareanu that she’s had to change her phone number. Kate is now dating guitarist Jamie Hince of The Kills, and recently spent a vacation in the south of France with Hince, who is said to be worried that she’ll get back together again with Pete.

Pete Doherty is sober and he’s not with Kate Moss anymore. He may as well be a different person now. Next thing you know he’ll stop giving his cats drugs, and start showering regularly.

It looks like all it took to drive Kate Moss back into the needle-marked arms of Pete Doherty again was the news that her friend was dating him, because the two longterm lovers were said to be holed up in a hotel suite together for the past five days.

While Kate was on vacation in Spain she gave in when Pete kept calling her and they had a heart to heart over the phone. Then when she got back they are said to have reconciled:

The Daily Mail even reports that Kate is talking marriage and babies again. She kicked him out of her house and changed the locks, but she’s too weak to be without him for even a few weeks.

Kate Moss’s friends and family are devastated after learning she has run back into the arms of Pete Doherty. The supermodel has been secretly staying with the drug-addicted singer at Claridge’s.

The Daily Mail has learned that the pair have been living it up in a £1,500-a-night suite at the Mayfair hotel for the past five days.

On one night, friends had to be ejected by hotel security when their revelry became too rowdy and the number of guests allowed per room was exceeded…

A friend of Miss Moss told the Mail last night: “Linda, Kate’s mum, thought the time away from him would break the spell he has over her. She had been on a strict break. They had not even exchanged a word in weeks.

“She has been completely ignoring him. But what is worrying the family most is that Kate feels that the break from Pete has only made her love stronger. Linda is absolutely devastated.”

The friend went on: “During her holiday in Spain, Pete was calling her on the mobile incessantly. He could not get through and the line kept going dead.

“She eventually called him one evening and since that conversation they have been continually on the phone. Kate has been like a moth to the flame.

“When she got back to Britain, they met up at the hotel. He cried and she cried. She said to him she had been avoiding him because she had promised everyone from her managers to her mother that she would.

“She told him, ‘It’s not me. It’s just what they all made me do’.”

During a late-night heart-to-heart at Claridge’s, Miss Moss told Doherty she was “miserable without him and desperately happy with him”…

“Now she is talking about making a grand commitment to him – she wants the wedding over here that was put on hold, and she also wants his children.”

Just when you thought Kate Moss got her shit together she goes and runs back to Doherty. Yesterday I was wondering what women see in this guy, and speculated that it must be some level of depth and sensitivity that women see in him that isn’t actually there. Commentor Carol chalked it up to women’s nurturing instinct and said “Women are always attracted to damaged men and he’s about as damaged as they get.”

Not only is Doherty lucky in love, he got a big break in yet another drug possession charge when he was let off on a technicality yesterday. Everyone was rooting for jail time for the junkie, but it wasn’t to be. Instead of a prison cell he got a $3,000 a night suite with a supermodel and a rowdy party with friends. Life sure is fair.

Pete Doherty has got to be the luckiest guy in creation. I mean aside from the unshakable addiction gene the guy’s carrying around. I don’t know how he does, it, but time and time again he lucks out and manages to avoid any serious jail time. I’m not sure if he does it just by constantly checking into rehab or if rehab is constantly imposed by the courts, but either way, he has yet to do any real time.

Doherty was arrested on Monday for a drug offense, again. This resulted in a breach of bail charge, since he’s already on bail and probation for other drug offenses. Though to be fair, it’s probably safe to assume that at any given time, Pete Doherty is under investigation for a drug crime. The police had 24 hours to bring Doherty before the court, and didn’t do so in the allotted time, so the judge had to dismiss the charges.

“Senior British police officers are tonight reviewing procedures after a bail breach allegation against singer Pete Doherty had to be dropped over a technicality. Doherty, 28, arrived at West London Magistrates’ Court today following his arrest yesterday in Tower Hamlets, east London. But the rocker later walked free after the charge was dropped because he was not produced before the court before the legal deadline of 24 hours.

“A police spokesman later said senior officers from Tower Hamlets were ‘reviewing processes to establish why Mr Doherty was unable to be brought before the court within the 24-hour timeframe. It would be inappropriate to go into any further detail until the Metropolitan Police Service is absolutely clear about the exact sequence of events,’ the spokesman said.

“He added that the law relating to the timeframe had been clarified earlier this summer. During today’s court hearing, which lasted just a couple of minutes, prosecutor Anjulika Vatish said: ‘The court has no jurisdiction to deal with this matter any more.’ She told the court that Doherty had been arrested at 2.35am yesterday.

“District Judge Susan Williams agreed that the court had no jurisdiction. She said: ‘Anyone arrested for a breach of bail must be brought before the court and dealt with in a 24-hour period.’ The singer, who did not appear before the court, left the building today wearing his trademark black trilby. Doherty gestured at the waiting photographers and then jumped into a green Jaguar and was whisked away.”

I’m not a fan of simply locking drug addicts up in jail, and I understand that doesn’t treat the real issue. But when a guy like Pete Doherty has been in more rehabs than there are leaves on a tree, I can’t help but think some cold hard time might do him some good. I think the guy needs a reality check. It seems like he’s either adamant about not quitting, or he’s so addicted that he simply can’t. There’s really no way to know – that’s something that only he really knows, though whether he’s aware of it is another story. It seems like the odds are pretty good he’s just going to repeat his cycle of drug and alcohol abuse until he dies. It appears that most people in his life have already written him off – whether that helps or hurts is hard to say. Theoretically it could be an incentive for him to change his behavior – but I really doubt much of anything will.

Druggie Pete Doherty was arrested again this past weekend on charges of possessing illegal drugs. He was out on bail and ordered to return to the Police Station next month. Doherty was in court today on a separate case, relating to drug charges from May. It’s not really possible to count all of Pete Doherty’s run-ins with the law. The guy seems to be pretty much batshit crazy. Whether it’s because he’s on drugs, the damage past drug use has done, or because he was just crazy to begin with is anyone’s guess. He seems to have no concept of reality or responsibility. The judge appears to have come down pretty hard on Doherty today. He was ordered to get his butt back into rehab, and return to the West London Magistrates’ Court on September 4th.

“The 28-year-old lead singer of Babyshambles has admitted possessing quantities of crack cocaine, heroin, cannabis and ketamine, as well as to two driving offenses.

“Judges ordered him to take part in a detoxification program, but a review of his progress Tuesday found he had tested positive for drugs in initial tests.

“’If he does not show his motivation it’s prison, as simple as that,’ Judge Davinder Lachlar said at the review hearing. ‘Depending on what information I have when you next come to court, the decision will be made.’”

The judge’s threats sound well and good, but the British legal system seems to have said that to Pete Doherty about a dozen times with no real effect. A lot of people argue over whether or not we should put drug addicts in jail – admittedly, it doesn’t treat the actual addiction. But Pete Doherty has been in and out of more rehab facilities than bags of Cheetos littering the floor of Britney Spears’ car. Something has got to give. He knows it, but I think he must have a lot of people willing to support his habit. At his April 18th court appearance (on drug charges separate from the others mentioned) he said, “The people I’m closest to have had enough. They’ve said it’s drugs or them.” I don’t think I hear a word about his band anymore. The biggest thing he’s done in years is date Kate Moss… and involve her in scandals as a result. This is another case where you’d like to wrap up the story by wishing him success, but you know it’s just lip service at this point. I never thought I’d write something like this, but if he could even just tone it down a bit, that’d be something.

It looks like all the other rehab treatments, including a stint as a counselor, didn’t take for messed up Pete Doherty. The Sun is reporting that on-again girlfriend Kate Moss has dropped him off at an in-patient drug rehab in North West London near her home. Kate is said to be paying big bucks for Doherty to get treatment at the facility, where a 12-patient wing was cleared for him to stay. Kate will perhaps pop in for some sessions of her own, but seems to be staying offsite:

The supermodel and the shambolic rocker checked secretly into the discreet Capio Nightingale Hospital just half a mile from her home in North West London.

They met staff who cleared a 12-place unit at an annexe behind the main hospital building off busy Marylebone Road.

The pair were recognised by passers-by as they arrived but registered for treatment using false names.

Kate, 33. left the hospital yesterday but was expected back to join Doherty in therapy sessions.

Yesterday one of Kate’s assistants was seen delivering to the hospital what appeared to be groceries and computer gear.

There was news that Kate and Pete got married in Thailand over New Year’s, but Kate’s people denied that report. It seemed to me like it was some kind of commitment ceremony, because Pete insisted it was true.

Pete was recently questioned by police after the death of a man at a party. The guy was seen arguing with Pete and fell to his death from a balcony a short time later. Police said he was not a suspect, but the family was unconvinced.

Let’s just assume for a moment that Doherty is capable of prolonged sobriety and a somewhat normal lifestyle free of Jaguar crashing and random death. How long do you think Kate Moss could remain faithful to a guy like that? Don’t you think she’d consider him boring?

Kate Moss sure enjoys getting some sun on her boobs. She was last photographed topless while on vacation in Jamaica. Moss insists she’s single after a rumored New Year’s day commitment ceremony with her druggie boyfriend Pete Doherty. It’s likely that her publicist staged an intervention and told her to deny it, but there were too many details published for me to accept that it was just a rumor.

Kate is shilling for Burberry again in their 2007 spring ad campaign. The British label, known for its trademark khaki plaid, stood by Kate after her cocaine scandal in 2005. She’s more than come back from that daming videotape to become the world’s fourth highest paid model in 2005.

Pete and Kate might not have tied the knot in Phuket, (which is not pronounced the way we assumed) Thailand this holiday, but they did hole themselves up in their suite for two days, turning away cleaning staff and taking breaks from their lovefest to sip champagne.

I’m not buying this latest wedding rumor about Kate Moss and Pete Doherty. The worlds most famous “chav” couple partied it up for New Years in Phuket, Thailand with Sarah Ferguson the Duchess of York and her family. There was an earlier story that they were going to get married between Christmas and New Years, and now a British paper is reporting that they’re planning a beach wedding to take place today, and that employees of the resort where they’re staying are in preparation for it.

As the New Year dawned on the island of Phuket, there were persistent rumours that the 32-year-old model was about to wed.

An insider at the Amanpuri Hotel said: ‘Senior management at the hotel have been told that the couple are having a romantic, bohemian- style beach wedding. Family and friends have been invited.’

Kate Moss and Sarah Ferguson are unlikely friends after they met up last month to talk about a potential modeling career for Sarah’s daughter princess Beatrice, 18. Beatrice and Kate might have more in common than modeling aspirations, as Beatrice and her sister Eugenie, 16, trashed their mother’s mansion this spring with a drunken teen party.

Pete Doherty is on two years probation for multiple drug offenses that would probably get him years in jail in the states. He is able to travel despite his long record due to his status as an entertainer. The Sun reminds everyone that Thailand is known as an easy country in which to score drugs, which may explain Moss and Doherty’s vacation there.

I don’t know if I really give a shit if Doherty and Moss get married. They’d have to have a baby at this point to catch my interest – not that I’d wish that fate on an innocent child just so I’d have something to gossip about.

Given Pete Doherty’s latest line of self-congratulatory T-shirts, I thought his days of drugging were over. He’s been drunk in public quite a few times since his supposedly successful latest rehab stint, but somehow he’s managed to avoid being arrested for a few weeks. All that changed yesterday, when he was pulled over for erratic driving in London and arrested for possession of crack cocaine.

Babyshambles frontman Pete Doherty was released on bail on Sunday after he was arrested on suspicion of possessing crack cocaine, police said.

The on-off boyfriend of supermodel Kate Moss was arrested after he was spotted driving his car erratically near his east London home, police said.

The 27-year-old musician, along with car’s other two occupants, were arrested on suspicion of drug possession.

All three men were released from Bethnal Green police station pending analysis of the substances recovered, said a Scotland Yard spokeswoman, speaking on condition of anonymity in line with force policy. They must report back to police in December.

Note that he had friends with him in the car, so it’s possible the drugs weren’t even his. He did say that crack makes him happy, though. I bet it also works faster than The Slimfast diet.
