Maggie Gyllenhaal welcomed her second daughter, Gloria Ray Sarsgaard

Yay, Maggie Gyllenhaal is a mom again! Maggie and her creepy/hot husband Peter Sarsgaard welcomed another little girl into their family. Maggie gave birth to daughter Gloria Ray on April 19 – and they’re just announcing it now! Because Maggie and Peter want to make sure that everyone knows they’re not shilling their baby out for publicity’s sake (not like anyone was asking, but sure). Gloria Ray joins big sister Ramona, 5.

Maggie Gyllenhaal and Peter Sarsgaard became the proud parents of their second baby girl, a rep for Gyllenhaal confirms to Us Weekly exclusively. Born April 19 in New York, the parents named their newborn Gloria Ray.

The Hysteria actress, 34, and the Lovelace actor, 41, are already parents to daughter Ramona, 5. Together since 2002, the couple tied the knot at a small chapel in Brindisi, Italy on May 2, 2009.

Since first becoming a mother in 2006, Gyllenhaal has struggled to balance her personal and professional life. “I had been so focused on Ramona — and she’s been everything to me — but I’m also an actress,” she told Us in January 2010. “It’s not possible to do it perfectly.”

Gyllenhaal waited until her second trimester to announce her most recent pregnancy.

“I find it difficult to pretend you’re not pregnant, which I had to do,” the Crazy Heart star told USA Today in March. “I didn’t let anyone know until three and a half months this time. I went to film festivals. I’m throwing up in the bathroom and having to keep pretzels in my purse, and having to fit into dresses.”

Sarsgaard, meanwhile, had another set of concerns — the biggest being how to prepare Ramona for sisterhood. “I’ve seen kids with siblings — I don’t have any siblings, so I don’t know — but they generally go for about five minutes, ‘Oh, cool! Anyway, what are we going to do now? Can we return it?’” he told reporters in February. “I think it gets boring quickly, at first, and it takes a while for them to bond.”

[From Us Weekly]

Ha, Peter’s got the right idea. Everyone’s always like, “Oh, so-and-so will love being a big brother!” Not always! Sibling rivalry is real. But two little girls, five years apart? They probably won’t have many problems, the age gap is big enough that Ramona will be okay with relinquishing her “only child” status.

Incidentally, did anyone watch Maggie on PBS’s Finding Your Roots with Henry Louis Gates Jr.? I love genealogy shows, and Finding Your Roots is far superior to NBC’s Who Do You Think You Are? One of the best features of Finding Your Roots is that Gates gets his guests to take DNA tests and he shows them what they are genetically, like 40% European or 20% Asian or whatever. Robert Downey Jr. was convinced that he was part African, and he ended being almost all white European. He was so disappointed! Anyway, Maggie was on and her genealogy is crazy-awesome. On her father’s side, she’s descended from Swedish royalty and nobility, by way of an insular Swedish mystical cult in Pennsylvania. On her mother’s side, she comes from Russian Jews – a long line of very intellectual, very strong Russian women doing amazing work in male-dominated fields. Maggie’s was a really good episode!

Maggie Gyllenhaal expecting another girl & she refuses to sell the baby photos

Maggie Gyllenhaal

I called Maggie Gyllenhaal’s pregnancy back in October of last year, and then in November, Maggie’s rep confirmed the happy news to Us Weekly. It became pretty clear that Maggie and her husband, Peter Sarsgaard, were expecting their second child, but Maggie didn’t confirm it herself until just this very moment. She and Peter are expecting another girl, who will join big sister Ramona, who is 5 years old.

And it’s another girl for Maggie Gyllenhaal. The actress is expecting a second daughter later this year. She’ll join big sister Ramona, 5.

“I’m so pregnant,” says Gyllenhaal, 34, while promoting her May release Hysteria. “This is a great, loose, black outfit — I had to take my shoes off.”

Gyllenhaal attended various premieres while secretly expecting her second child, not an easy feat for her.

“I find it difficult to pretend you’re not pregnant, which I had to do. I didn’t let anyone know until three and a half months this time. I went to film festivals. I’m throwing up in the bathroom and having to keep pretzels in my purse, and having to fit into dresses,” she says.

Gyllenhaal and hubby Peter Sarsgaard don’t plan on selling any baby photos, and Gyllenhaal won’t reveal her due date to preserve her privacy and not tip off the press.

[From USA Today]

Well, she didn’t really “hide” anything successfully, considering her red carpet photos in October had me and several other sites calling “bump!”. Her boobs looked bigger, and she had a little bump, and she was a little bit fuller in the face. Still, no woman should have to publicly declare her pregnancy before she’s ready. And while I respect the whole “we’re not going to sell the baby photos” thing, I have to ask: would there really be that much interest? I’m interested in Maggie Gyllenhaal, sure. Because I like her and I think she’s a cool lady. But I don’t see People Magazine or Us Weekly’s editors sitting around, wondering if Maggie’s baby photos are worth $100,000.

God, I love Peter Sarsgaard. He’s The Sex. He and Maggie seem tight too, which is nice.

Maggie Gyllenhaal & Peter Sarsgaard are expecting their second child

This is the opposite of shocking, but it’s still a nice story – Maggie Gyllenhaal is knocked up again! Life & Style “confirms” (but not really) that Maggie and her husband Peter Sargaard are expecting their second child. Maggie and Peter are parents to five-year-old Ramona… damn, is that kid already 5? It feels like Maggie was just pregnant with Ramona a few years ago. Anyway, we totally called this when we were talking about Maggie’s sketchy style at the Rome Film Festival – she had an obvious baby bump in late October. My guess is that she’s already well into her second trimester.

Maggie Gyllenhaal had a lot to be thankful for this Thanksgiving! Life & Style can exclusively reveal that the 33-year-old actress and her husband, Peter Sarsgaard, are expecting their second child together.

“Over Thanksgiving weekend, Maggie was telling friends that she’s six months pregnant,” a friend of the actress tells Life & Style. “Her bump is so big!”

Rumors about a pregnancy began when Maggie turned up at the Rome Film Festival premiere of her latest movie, Hysteria, on Oct. 28 with what appeared to be a little baby bump. While the actress hasn’t publicly confirmed her second child, the friend tells Life & Style that Maggie is over the moon.

“She’s thrilled to be pregnant! She and Peter have wanted another child for a while,” says the friend. “They’re very happy that they’ll have another baby in the house soon.”

Maggie’s little brother, Jake Gyllenhaal, is said to be ecstatic about the news, too!

“Jake is so happy that she’s pregnant again because he loves kids,” says the friend. “Maggie’s said that he’s the best uncle and has done a lot of sweet things for her first child.”

Maggie and Peter are already parents to 5-year-old daughter Ramona but haven’t revealed the sex of their soon-to-be bundle of joy. Regardless, Maggie’s very excited and couldn’t wait to spill the news to her family and friends.Though Maggie has been in a relationship with her actor hubby since 2002, the couple didn’t marry until 2009, after the birth of their first child. The pair currently live in Brooklyn, N.Y.

[From Life & Style]

Maggie and Peter are pretty much settled in NYC, right? And Jake lives in NYC most of the time too, and I buy that Maggie and Jake are genuinely close and that Jake relishes being a doting uncle. Congrats to the whole family! I’ve always thought Peter was so hot – but I always like the ones with crazy eyes.

Ryan Reynolds in an off white suit in Spain: too orange, too Crocket and Tubbs

fp_7633672_trg_greenlantern
Here’s Ryan Reynolds in Madrid promoting Green Lantern along with costar Peter Sarsgaard, who looks completely over it. Green Lantern was out in the US last month to somewhat disappointing box office. (Box office mojo has it with the largest second weekend decline for a superhero film this year.) The film also got negative reviews. It had a budget of $200 million and has so far made $131 million but it’s yet to be released in some parts of Europe, hence this promotional tour. There are always DVD sales.

fp_7633668_trg_greenlantern
Anyway Ryan looked hot but a little cooked in this white beige suit. He’s too orange-y with the bronzer against that light color. Plus that shiny blue shirt is just ridiculous. But it’s Ryan Reynolds and you know he’s working a tight ass underneath those pants, which fit him very nicely. Then you scroll down and see his dark brown shoes and wonder if he didn’t bring enough shoes with him on this trip. That outfit needs some white loafers.

fp_7633678_trg_greenlantern
We last heard that Ryan was getting busy with Charlize Theron. I doubt it’s serious or will last for them, but they sound hot together. They’re both so pretty.

Adoption groups urge boycott of horror film “Orphan”

2009_orphan_010
It’s been out for a week and a half now, and adoption groups are getting wind of the plot of horror film Orphan and are urging a boycott. Without giving too much of the plot away (which is easily spoiled by reading the synopsis on Wikipedia) 9 year-old orphan Esther is adopted by a wealthy family eager to give her a home. Esther at first seems like a withdrawn child who is mature beyond her years, but soon wrecks havoc on her adopted family in chilling scenarios that are typical for the “evil child” genre. Many adoption groups find the film offensive, particularly because it discourages adoption of older children who are most in need of a home:

Warner Bros. new horror flick “Orphan” may be causing its audience to scream, but it is also causing a squeal from a growing number of national adoption groups and organizations who are urging Americans to boycott the flick which is centered on an evil adopted child.

Leading philanthropist and founder of Children Uniting Nations which supports foster youth, Daphna Ziman, is one of the many who are outraged and joining the charge to promote a socially responsible solution.

“Although we recognize the film is fiction, the response we have had from adoption groups and potential adoptive parents has been overwhelming,” Ziman told Tarts. “When a major corporation sensationalizes on an area that affects our nation’s most needy children without responsible messaging it is unconscionable. Warner Bros. needs to be socially conscientious of the children they are potentially harming and put a disclaimer on the film and a public service announcement educating viewers on the plight of children living in protective custody through no fault of their own.”

Advocacy groups believe that the film may feed into any possible pre existing doubt and prevent parents from adopting. Although Warner Bros is yet to meet Ziman’s request for a meeting with executives to add the disclaimer, the studio has reportedly removed a highly criticized line from the film where the orphan Ester says, “It must be hard to love an adopted child as much as your own.”

“’Orphan’ is a work of fiction; it is not a depiction of any real-life events or situations and has never been portrayed as anything but an entirely fictional story,” a rep for Warner Bros told Tarts in response. “We apologize if we appeared insensitive with the initial trailer as it’s never our intent to offend anyone with our products.”

[From Fox News Pop Tarts]

Journalist Linda Cook brings up the controversy over the film in her review on Rotten Tomatoes. Cook was adopted as a child and writes that she overheard someone leaving the movie say “Boy, I’d never adopt after seeing that.” She says that “this is the sort of thing that touches a nerve in any adoptee,” but adds “If someone really, truly wanted to adopt… it would have taken more than a single movie to dissuade them.”

I can understand how adoptees and adoption advocates would take offense to this film. The line in the trailer, mentioned in the source article above, “It must be hard to love an adopted child as much as your own,” was removed from future versions but you can still see it in official trailers available online. There’s even a user-created remix of the trailer that includes overlaid words like “Thinking of adopting? Think again.”

Have any of you seen this film and would you agree that it can dissuade people from adopting? Please don’t reveal any spoilers in your comments as I understand this film has a huge twist at the end. I’m not a horror movie fan and am not likely to ever rent this film, but some people could be waiting to see it.

Maggie Gyllenhaal & Peter Sarsgaard get married in Italy

Peter Sarsgaard and Maggie Gyllenhaal
Maggie Gyllenhaal and Peter Sarsgaard got married in Italy over the weekend. There were rumors swirling about the impending nuptials last week, but I doubted they would go through with it. The wedding took place in Brindisi, Italy on Saturday, with Maggie’s brother Jake and Jake’s girlfriend Reese Witherspoon in attendance. The couple has been together for nearly seven years, and are thought to have gotten engaged in 2006. That was the year Maggie got pregnant with daughter Ramona, now aged two and half.

Hollywood couple Maggie Gyllenhaal and Peter Sarsgaard have finally made it official. The two New York based actors tied the knot in a small chapel in Brindisi Italy on Saturday.

Maggie’s younger brother Jake and his lady love Reese Witherspoon were among the guests at the ceremony.

Gyllenhaal and Sarsgaard have been dating since 2002 and have two-and-a-half-month-old daughter Ramona together.

Gyllenhaal has starred in such movies as The Dark Knight, Sherrybaby, Donnie Darko and Secretary. Sarsgaard, like Gyllenhaal, is also a favorite of the indy film sect, having appeared in such movies as Boys Don’t Cry, Shattered Glass, and The Man In The Iron Mask.

From Radar Online

I wonder if Maggie will change her name to Maggie Gyllenhaal-Sarsgaard? Lord, that’s a mouth-full. Anyway, they’ve always seemed like a nice couple, and it’s always great to see a seemingly permanently “engaged” couple finally get down the aisle. I’m actually a bigger fan of Peter Sarsgaard rather than Maggie – I think he’s so lovely and talented, where Maggie is a bit overrated as an actress (my opinion). Their backgrounds are very different too – Maggie comes from a very artistic, intellectual, grounded family where Peter was an Army brat with a very nomadic childhood. Currently, Maggie, Peter and Ramona live in New York. Congratulations to Maggie and Peter!

Maggie Gyllenhaal, Peter Sarsgaard welcome baby girl

Maggie Gyllenhall gave birth to her first child yesterday in a NY-area hospital at about 8PM. Maggie and fiance Peter Sarsgaard welcomed a baby girl named “Ramona.”

Maggie Gyllenhaal and fiance Peter Sarsgaard are officially proud parents! Maggie gave birth to her first daughter late Tuesday, a source close to the Gyllenhaal family confirmed exclusively to Just Jared.

Maggie and Peter decided to name their daughter Ramona Sarsgaard. Ramona was born around 8PM at a NYC hospital. The newborn’s arrival came two weeks before Maggie’s expected delivery.

This is the first child for Maggie, 28, and Peter, 35.

That’s excellent and we look forward to a spread in People with little Ramona! Her pictures should be worth more than SPF2 if you ask me.

Pictures and story from Just Jared.
