Cynthia Nixon appeared today at City Hall in NY to lobby for more funds for schools as part of the “Our Kids Can’t Wait” campaign.

Nixon made headlines a year and a half ago when the news came out that she had left her husband for a female partner.

She is currently appearing in a Broadway play called “Rabbit Hole” about a couple “trying to cope with the loss of their son.” It is a tear-jerker that has received rave reviews.

Britney and Kevin are in Vegas for Kevin’s 28th birthday party. TMZ has a quick video of the couple out last night while the pictures below were taken. Britney has her hand over her stomach, but it could mean anything. It does not look like she is hiding a bump, contrary to some reports.

Life & Style says that Pitt called Aniston to warn her to prepare for news of the couple’s wedding.

If this is true, and we doubt it, it may mean that the Jolie-Pitts were planning to get married at some point, somewhere – or that they did already get married and managed to hide it. If only they were friends of Chloe Sevigny, we could be assured that this is true.

The Jolie-Pitt clan traveled back to the States today. It looks like Angelina’s mother won’t get her dying wish to have her grandchild born in France, but with Jolie you never can tell.

We reported two days ago that Keira Knightly is moving into a small apartment with her boyfriend, Rupert Friend, partially to escape the paparrazi. Judging from these latest pictures she may get hounded even worse. Pictures of a happy couple are a lot more interesting.

Just Jared reports that Keira loves her coat collection and seems to wear a new one every day. Pretty soon she’ll be switching to raincoats as spring arrives.

Paris Hilton was said to be getting close to Bejamin McKenzie of the OC, who normally keeps a low profile and is not known for making public appearances. Before you start to get indignant about it like I did, realize that Hilton has been all over the place lately according to The Scoop:

We have no clue if Independence Day has some significance to the cult of Scientology, although the movie of the same name certainly has some parallels with their belief system. Rumor has it that Tom and Katie plan to get married on the Fourth of July according to the magazines Celebrity Living and Star:

This isn’t the first time we’ve heard about upcoming wedding plans for the two, so take this for the rumor that is is. We are still waiting for news of Tom’s ex, Nicole Kidman’s supposed upcoming wedding to Keith Urban. It is a smidgen more substantial now that two gossip rags have jumped on the news.

Meanwhile Abdul was nearly fired from her job as America’s favorite drunken cheerleader. Producers were said to be looking at Jessica Simpson and Britney Spears as possible replacements:

Abdul must have been a total mess if Simpson or Spears seemed like a more coherent alternative. We think the most likely reason for Abdul’s retention is that her lawyers pointed out her contract to Idol producers. Rather than invite another scandal, they kept Abdul on. It will be surprising if she gets another season on the top-rated show.

19-year old Laguna Beach reality star, Kristin Cavallari, has been linked with newly single Nick Lachey, 32. Cavallari has denied reports that the two are dating, and now it looks like she may be rid of Lachey entirely. While Lachey was in Cincinnati to promote his breakup song, “What’s Left of Me,” Cavallari was making out with her ex in public:

The article in Star speculates that Nick is not over Jessica and mentions that Nick’s friends thought Cavallari was up to no good even before this incident. Still, we doubt that one failed rebound relationship will lead Nick and Jessica to reunite.

I wanted to write another story about how disgusted I am at the way the Scientologists treat little babies, but there’s a lot more going on, so here’s a recap of all the craziness that’s been happening with Tom Cruise, Katie Holmes, and their cult religion.

Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes visited the Yahoo! Sunnydale, CA campus yesterday for no clear reason except publicity. Gambling site 911daily, which is taking bets on the fetus’ name, has an insider’s view of the proceedings. Tom actually did jump on a couch, arm wrestled Yahoo CEO Terry Semel, and said that Katie was having his “third child” in a “few weeks.” Tom flew himself to the event, and was 45 minutes late due to the weather. He jumped in a Ducati off the tarmac and ran through the Yahoo! campus to get to the event. Katie came in separately.

Meanwhile blogs are buzzing that Yahoo! staffers see Cruise’s visit as a lame attempt by Yahoo! to go Hollywood.

Cruise is being lambasted for his role as the most visible spokesperson for the cult of Scientology. A new ad claims that a woman was stabbed to death by her schizophrenic son because he was treated with vitamins instead of psychiatric drugs in accordance with the church’s belief system.

Brad is said to be pissing off Angelina with his frequent drinking. Someone probably made this story up after seeing the pictures of Brad having dinner in Paris with some American friends on Monday night.

Not only is Brad drinking too much for Angelina’s taste, he was photographed smoking out the window of the couple’s Paris apartment this weekend.

The Sun also reports that Brad was looking rough on Monday and needs to clean up his look.

As we learned from the Lake Como wedding debacle, the media just makes shit up about Brad and Angelina so that we have something to whet our palate every day. So take this latest news for what it is – an attempt to bring the world’s hottest couple down to our miserable level.
