Comediene Phyllis Diller has a new interview in the National Enquirer, and she looks and sounds just as spry as ever at 92! Phyllis talks about her new romance with a 75 year-old comic and puts in a bid to appear on Jay Leno’s new show. Let’s help Phyllis Diller get some love from The Tonight Show! Diller tells the Enquirer that if she’s on the new Tonight Show with Jay, she’ll be the only person to “be a guest of all four of ‘The Tonight Show’ hosts, going all the way back to Jack Paar.” Jack Paar hosted from 1957-1962, but Steve Allen could technically be considered the host before him from 1954-1957. The show was just called Tonight then and didn’t get renamed as The Tonight Show until Paar came on. It doesn’t matter, though, I’d love to see Phyllis! She’s such a character and deserves to be honored:
The 92-year-old comedy legend is robbing the cradle with a new toyboy who is only 75. “Men – I just love ‘em!” a still sprightly Phyllis declared in an exclusive Enquirer interview.
“The male of the species has been keeping women young since the dawn of time. As a matter of fact, I have a date tonight with a new beau. I guess you could say I’m Hollywood’s oldest cougar. And I’m damn proud of it!”
Phyllis said she just started dating comic Paul Sand after meeting him at a Hollywood fundraiser.
“He’s terrific. Paul knows I love crustaceans, so we are going to a restaurant tonight that he just found.
“It’s wonderful, even at my age, to get ready for a date.”
The two met at a benefit for Hollywood’s Motion Picture & Television Fund.
“I was there when he walked in, and I noticed him right away. The cougar waiting for her prey! We hit it off immediately.
“Vegetables, fresh fruit, and men are three things that keep me young. I insist on a very balanced diet.”
Phyllis officially retired in 2002 but continues to make occasional personal appearances. She fills her days painting and socializing with close pals including Debbie Reynolds, Elliott Gould and Betty White. She also remains close with a showbiz mentor and good friend, Bob Hope’s widow Dolores, who will be 101 years old.
“She’s still sharp as a tack,” declared Phyllis. “Ninety is the new 30!”
The performer – who’s been onstage since the 1950s – also revealed to The Enquirer that she wants to make TV history when Jay Leno returns to “The Tonight Show” in March.
“I want to be one of Jay’s first guests. I could be the only person who would be a guest of all four of ‘The Tonight Show’ hosts, going all the way back to Jack Paar. I would love it.”

I know a lady who is in her early 90s and she’s still doing her thing and living a very full life with friends and activities. I just pray that I make it that age with my health and humor intact. I’ve made a Facebook page to help Phyllis realize her dream and be interviewed on The Tonight Show! Please become a fan and help support the cause. A lot of people are behind a bid to get Betty White on Saturday Night Live. Let’s get Phyllis on The Late Show and help her make TV History!
