When Cate Blanchett showed up at the premiere of The Darjeeling Limited on October 1 wearing a striking loose turquoise dress with a thick silver stripe detail it just looked like she was being fashion-forward as usual. From looking at quite a few pictures of Cate recently, I think it’s safe to assume that she was hiding a growing bump and that she’s pregnant with her third child.

On September 10th she showed a hint of a bump at the Elizabeth: The Golden Age screening at the Toronto Film Festival. She wore a gorgeous black v-neck cap-sleeve dress with purple and red pleated details. She’s a thin woman and showed a definite little bump that could indicate that she’s pregnant.

Ever since, she’s played it safe with loose clothing. She appeared at the screening of the Dylan biopic I’m Not There at the New York Film Festival last night wearing a cowl-neck black loose dress with a diagonal sash across her tummy. She looks a lot fuller in the stomach area.

In candids of her out in NY yesterday she’s wearing a straight plain gray dress and it does look like she has a bump!

Cate Blanchett lives with her two sons and her husband of ten years, playwright and screenwriter Andrew Upton, in her native Australia. Her oldest child, Dashiell John, will be six in December and her youngest, Roman Robert, is three and a half. I bet she’s expecting another one soon, and if so congratulations to her!

Cate told W Magazine in a recent interview that she wants more children soon:

More children are also part of the larger plan. She’d like a couple more, and sooner rather than later. “We’re not going to wait forever,” Blanchett says, downing a rather large vitamin pill before tucking in to a plate of crispy eggplant. “God, I’d love it to be now. I’d love it to be next week.”

Maybe she was already pregnant at that point, but if not it sounds like she was trying.

Despite multiple denials from both Jennifer Lopez and her husband of an inexplicable three years, Marc Anthony, they are said to be planning to announce Lopez’s pregnancy at their joint concert at Madison Square Garden on Sunday:

Bronx native Jennifer Lopez, 38, plans to “announce that she and (husband) Marc Anthony are expecting their first child on Saturday night at her Madison Square Garden concert,” said an insider.

On September 19th Anthony’s publicist denied that Lopez was pregnant, saying “Everyone calls about this every month with the hopes that they’ll hit the mark, but no. No.”

Then Lopez herself claimed she wasn’t pregnant about a week later when she was asked directly, saying: “No, no! We get this every week! I don’t mind when people talk about this, I get the interest. I’m not the only [celeb] who gets these rumors.”

The rumors started when Lopez showed up at the unveiling of her god-awful clothing line, Just Sweet, wearing a green sack-like dress and sporting what looked like a baby bump from a certain angle. She has continued to wear fug loose clothing at public appearances and her concerts with Anthony, and people thought she was either trying to hide a slight weight gain or fibbing about a pregnancy because she hadn’t reached the third month mark yet.

Yesterday a picture surfaced of Lopez’s top blowing up while she was performing to show what looked like a baby bump. Perez ran it, saying “We totally see a baby bump there. Do U????” People has it today, and it looks like she’s protecting her bump in this shot:

If she is pregnant and is going to announce it and everything, why did they both lie about it instead of saying “no comment”? I know this is common practice among celebrities, but there’s no need to be so adamant that it’s not true, it just makes them seem disingenuous. Then again Marc Anthony and J.Lo never came off as honest, down to earth people.

Congratulations to Lopez and Anthony if this is true. She is rumored to be pregnant with twins.

I’ve never been pregnant, so I don’t totally understand all the hormones that go into it – but I was kinda surprised to hear Halle Berry tell Oprah that she already wants another baby. You haven’t even popped the first one out girl! You’re three months pregnant, aren’t you still throwing up and craving tacos? I’m so confused. I had a friend who’s pregnancy mantra was something about wanting to “evict her little passenger” – and I gotta tell you, that makes a lot of sense to me. I understand wanting more eventually – but Halle must really be overdosing on the oxytocin if she’s already ramping up for more pregnancy.

“Halle Berry says she and her boyfriend, Gabriel Aubry, tried and tried and tried to get pregnant. ‘So there was a lot of staying home and doing what you do. Like, all the time, around the clock,’ the 41-year-old Oscar-winning actress said Tuesday on ‘The Oprah Winfrey Show.’ One negative pregnancy test followed another, ‘and finally, after about 35 tests, we finally got a positive test,’ Berry told Winfrey in one of her first interviews since announcing last month that she was expecting her first child with Aubry, her boyfriend of two years.

And how does Berry know all about being a mom? From acting. I’m not sure that’s the greatest indication of motherhood, but then again if never been an actress or a mother, so what the hell do I know.

Again, I’m not a mother, but something tells me it may be a little different when no one calls “cut” and someone from craft services doesn’t come over and offer Halle a plate of pickles, mustard, and Cheetos. [That joke was funny because women crave weird things when they’re pregnant. Alright that joke wasn’t funny]. Halle says she and boyfriend Gabriel Aubry don’t have any plans to marry. She seems a little jaded after her last two crappy marriages, not that I blame her.

Nicole Richie has signed up for a year and half alcohol education program, called SB 38, according to People.com. She was ordered to attend alcohol education as part of her DUI sentencing, for which she also received three years probation, a $2,048 fine, and four days in jail, which was cut down to just 82 minutes when she showed up to serve her time on August 24.

It sounds like Richie will have to commit a lot of time to the program. The website for SB38 says she’ll have to do interviews with a counselor twice a week as well as put in 52 hours of group counseling. That’s an entire year of weekly one-hour sessions. She’ll also have to attend 12 hours of alcohol education. I wonder if she’ll see those shocking videos of car accident victims.

Multiple Offender Drinking Driver Program (SB-38), sometimes known as the SB-38 program, (named after the sponsoring Senate Bill 38 legislation) is for people who have been convicted of Driving Under the Influence (DUI) of alcohol or drugs on more than one occasion within a 7 year period. The program is 18 months in length and consists of 52 hours of group counseling, bi-weekly face –to- face interviews and 12 hours of alcohol education. Attendance at 12 step meetings is encouraged.

Whether or not the offender is ordered to go through the program by the court, he or she must complete it in order to get their drivers’ license returned. All multiple offenders have their licenses suspended or revoked for a period of 2-5 years. They must complete this state licensed program before the DMV will re-issue their license.

It sounds like Richie is just doing what she has to do to get her life back on track, something that Britney needs dire help with. She has sworn off all drugs, alcohol and cigarettes for the health of her baby and is even said to be planning a drug-free natural birth.

Meanwhile The National Enquirer reports that six months-pregnant Richie is having a boy, and that her fiance Joel Madden is ecstatic:

Model and actress Milla Jovivich, 31, is seven months pregnant with her first child, which is thought to be a girl. Unlike women who manage to stay inexplicably svelte with just a baby bump, like Bridget Moynahan, Jovivich has gained weight all over. She blogged that she’s gained 70 pounds during her pregnancy and that it comes from eating a lot of carbs.

i am so huge you guys! i’ve gained almost 70 pounds in the last 4 months! It’s unbelievable how quickly it all happened, all i did was eat three bagels every morning with butter, peanut butter and jelly all over them, a few boxes of crispy cream donuts for lunch and boom! i’m tipping the scale at 195! man, that came out of nowhere! lol! well maybe not completely out of nowhere! so now i’m completely going in the opposite extreme and eating nothing but chicken, fish and veggies with the closest thing to bread taking the form of oatmeal in the morning with just the teensiest bit of maple sugar to make it bearable… sigh! all i want is another box of donuts! well, only 8 more weeks to go and then hopefully i’ll start to get back to normal.

Jovovich is 5′8″ tall, so 195 pounds is big for a pregnant woman at that height, but not huge. I’m 5′7″ and I weighed about 195 right before my son was born. It was pretty uncomfortable for me and I was self conscious about it. My son was nearly 9 pounds when he was born, not that it’s an excuse for gaining that much weight. Eventually I lost it, but it took work and makes me realize I’ll have to be more careful not to balloon up if I have another one.

I didn’t know much about Jovovich up until now. She seems to have a great personality and comes across as funny and outspoken on her blog. Jovivich is currently starring in Resident Evil: Exinction, and the father of her baby is the director, Paul W.S. Anderson. Jovovich and Anderson are engaged and say they want to get married after the baby comes.

Jovivich is also a talented songwriter and singer, and offers free mp3s of her music on her website to download. She has a haunting voice and her songs are sparse and folksy. Wikipedia compares her style to Tori Amos and Kate Bush.

Usher’s much-talked about wish for a son will come true – he told People magazine that he and new wife/possible man Tameka Foster are expecting a son. Earlier this month, Usher told Ellen Degeneres that he’s hoping for a boy and said, ““I think every man wants a son. He’s own little own doll. If it’s a boy, I’m going to name him Usher. I’m hoping to name him that. I’ve been playing with a few names. I’m the fourth. Usher Raymond the fourth. I just want to pass the name on. Maybe I’ll change the middle name.” All right… I wasn’t quite so aware that every man wanted his own little doll, but whatever. Apparently Usher will get just that. Usher Jr Jr Jr is going to have some serious roman numerals after his name.

“Newlyweds Usher and Tameka Foster are going to have a boy, he revealed to PEOPLE Tuesday.

“When asked what he is looking forward to most about being a new dad, Usher, 28, said his desires are pretty basic.

Usher wants his baby to be fully coherent? Like he’s hoping to have a discussion with the kid from the get go, or just that the kid’s eyes move? I think it was just an odd choice of words, but it leaves me wondering what he’s expecting from the kid nonetheless.

And for those of you wondering about wife Maneka Foster, and how she’s going to push a kid out of her penis, here’s some info on her pregnancy so far.

Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony made an appearance at a public school in the Bronx yesterday to help kick off their upcoming joint concert tour. Lopez had everyone speculating that despite her husband’s rep saying she’s not pregnant, she’s just delaying an announcement until it’s absolutely necessary. She wore a lose billowy gray short dress (not exactly a muumuu, but I took some license) and a black hat.

Her face also looked curiously puffy, which some say could be an indication of pregnancy hormones or weight gain. To me it looks like she had some minor work done recently and is trying to hide the swelling by wearing a hat.

Lopez grew up near the school she visited with Anthony, and she got a little choked up around the kids. Marc Anthony is from Spanish Harlem and noted that one of his old teachers is now the principal at the school:

But Lopez clearly was touched by the hundreds of fans who swarmed the sidewalks and the school’s choir, which sang for the couple.

“We look at you and we see ourselves,” Lopez said. “I can remember doing little songs at school and being onstage and dreaming of great things. And seeing all of you so full of beauty and life and energy, and knowing that - how far you can go - it still touches my heart.”

Anthony recognized P.S. 36 Principal Nilda Rivera as a teacher of his when he was growing up in Spanish Harlem.

“She was a huge part of my youth,” Anthony said.

The News notes that Anthony and Lopez will donate $1 from each concert ticket sold to the ING Run for Something Better Program, an exercise program for children that aims to help prevent and treat child obesity. The school Anthony and Lopez visited participates in the program.

If Lopez isn’t pregnant she could be undergoing fertility treatments that are making her a bit bloated. Even if she’s self conscious of that, she’s probably loving the speculation. I doubt that it would make her face all swollen like that though.

There’s a rumor that young Hannah Montana star Miley Cyrus is pregnant, as supposedly confirmed to a teen magazine I know I’ve never heard of, J-14 Magazine. When you see the supposed clipping of the article, though, you can tell that it’s a story Photoshopped on top of another one, as there are two different fonts used for the title.

“Yes, sadly it’s true. Miley herself confirmed the pregnancy rumors during a J-14 interview. ‘I’m going to take good care of my baby. I’ve already gained 7 pounds. I was in real shock when it happened accidentally. I went a little too far. I’m sorry to all of my fans’,” the magazine photo reports Miley as saying.

“While Miley is still planning on going on tour for her new solo cd, she’s currently filming the series finale of ‘Hannah Montana’. Even though she’s keeping hush about who’s the father. Miley’s parents are very disappointed in her: ‘Whatever’s meant to happen will happen. I guess it was meant to be this way.”

In case you’re not familiar with Miley Cyrus, she’s the daughter of country star Billy Ray Cyrus and currently stars in the Disney Channel original musical series Hannah Montana. The show centers around a 14 year-old girl who leads a double life as average student by day and a teen pop sensation by night. The show is quite popular, with a movie version in the works.

There are two soundtracks out for the Hannah Montana show, and young Miley will perform a 54-date tour of North America to begin on October 18, 2007 on St. Louis, Missouri and conclude on January 9, 2008 in Albany, NY. Many dates are sold out.

Someone had the idea to add another scandal to the roster of troubled Disney teens after the Vanessa Anne Hudgens nude pics and make up a rumor that the clean cut teen star was pregnant. While it doesn’t seem to be true, it’s not out of the question. Young Oscar-nominated New Zealand star Keisha Castle Hughes became pregnant at the age of 16 and had a healthy baby girl, Felicity-Amore, on April 25, 2007 when she was just 17.

By moving to NY and making their routine well known, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are trying to reduce the public’s interest by flooding the market with pictures. At least that’s how I’m interpreting their strategy. They probably figure they couldn’t escape to the remotest region of Africa and keep the paparazzi at bay without brute force so they may as well go to a place where there are tons of people and it’s easy to find them. It’s supply and demand, and when there’s a lot of Brad and Angelina to go around people get placated and a little bored with them. That seems to be the way they handle interviews too. Just give too much information and there’s not much left to speculate about.

Everyone is watching Angelina closely to see if she’s sprouting that baby bump that showed up in a picture published over the weekend and but has otherwise proved elusive. People are divided, with some saying she’s just gaining some much-needed weight and others concluding she’s got to be pregnant considering how many hints Brad has been dropping.

Pitt will appear on Good Morning America tomorrow, Friday, and ABC has an advance look at his interview on their website. He tells Diane Sawyer that he has had some problems with depression in his life but that being a dad has helped lift his spirits. He gushes about how much he loves his children and says his kids say and do the cutest things. He says fatherhood is his greatest achievement and he calls Angelina “amazing”:

Also like Jesse, Pitt said he also understands the melancholy of those children of the prairie. Both Pitt and Jesse came from the plains of Missouri.

“He’s from the same area that, that I’m from,” Pitt said. “I was surprised how much that meant to me in the end, to do something that had a connection with home.”

Sawyer asked Pitt about a time he said that he had grown up on those plains with some unexplained sadness.

“I called it a congenital sadness. It’s something that I, that I feel in my grandparents, in my … in the people I’ve met, in a Southern way of life. It’s something pervasive, is an undercurrent that, that I think Christianity answers.”

When Sawyer suggested that this sadness was something of a “genetic background music,” Pitt agreed.

“Well put, I like that,” he said.

Pitt has said that he once thought fame or success would be a cure for the sadness, but he has since learned the secret may be children.

“It’s the greatest thing I’ve ever taken on. It’s the most difficult, the most rewarding and the most fun,” he said. “But I think this is the, the greatest thing I’ve, I could possibly achieve and hats off to all the parents out there.”

He said that a good deal of parenting comes from instinct, but all of it is rewarding.

“They say the funniest things I’ve ever heard. They’re the funniest people I’ve ever met. … One of the things I’m most happy about for my kids is that they, they have a mother I think, because she is, she’s amazing,” he said.

I like how Brad and Angelina are opening up so much and you can tell that the press is starting to like them again. I think the gossip is influenced a lot by how they’re acting toward each other in public. They seem a lot happier lately and I think that might have to do with a little surprise that will be more evident in the near future.

So, the Jennifer Lopez pregnancy rumours are circulating again – the poor woman probably just had a big glass of champagne before walking down the catwalk. That’s what the baby bump was. Or at least, that’s what it seems to be according to husband Marc Anthony.

So, he didn’t mention the champagne theory. But I like the fact he mentions that people call every month with the rumour wanting it confirmed or denied. Is Marc Anthony suggesting we’re following his wife’s ovulation cycle?

Some reports have had Jennifer pregnant with twins, even offering detailed stories of ultrasound results and fertility treatments, but I personally like her attitude about not having a baby until God is ready for her to. Particularly since we all seem to forget she’s that other special kind of mommy – a stepmommy to Marc Anthony’s three children.

Jennifer is very busy right now, promoting her new album, but is also keen to perform with the Spice Girls.

According to the Sunday People, the singer said: “I’d love to get back out there on tour and I’d really like to perform on the same stage as the Spice Girls.”

Speaking about Victoria Beckham, Lopez said: “Even before we were friends, Posh was always my favourite.”
