There was an article in Time Magazine last week that had a lot of people talking. It claimed that 17 teen girls at Glouchester High School in Northeastern Massachusetts were pregnant after many of them made a pact to have babies and raise their children together. The high school in the small economically-depressed fishing town has just 1,200 students, and 17 pregnancies represents an increase of 4 times the amount of teen pregnancies the year before. The story raised all sorts of ethical issues about whether the media attention paid to Jamie Lynn Spear’s pregnancy at 16 and movies like the Oscar-winning film Juno glorified teen pregnancy and made a difficult and life-altering choice seem fun and attainable. Free day-care and a baby-friendly policy at the school also were cited as potential incentives for young girls to get pregnant.

One of the pregnant girls from Glouchester went on Good Morning America this morning with her boyfriend to talk about the pregnancy boom at her school. Five months pregnant Lindsay Oliver, 17, said that there was no “pregnancy pact,” but that a lot of the young pregnant girls did vow to raise their babies together.

Lindsay: “There was definitely no pact. There was a group of girls who decided… they were already pregnant before they decided this… that they were gonna help each other with their kids so they could finish school and raise their kids together. To do the right thing was their decision, not ‘let’s get pregnant, as a group.’” [Transcribed from video of GMA shown above]

When asked why so many teens were pregnant, Lindsay’s boyfriend Andrew Solitas said “I saw in the press conference that they can’t even confirm that there were 17 girls who were pregnant. I guess girls are just unlucky.”

Andrew, 20, is working full time and goes to community college. He said that his girlfriend Lindsay, 17, was on birth control but that she still got pregnant.

When asked if there was any reason that so many girls got pregnant, Lindsay said it “was just a coincidence.” She denied that the film Juno encouraged her. She said she didn’t understand why people thought the movie even glamorized pregnancy, because “In Juno she couldn’t even take care of the baby, she gave it up for adoption.” She also denied that Jamie Lynn’s pregnancy influenced her.

As for the way the school doesn’t distribute contraceptives, Lindsay seemed to indicate that did make a difference. She said “They won’t put any kind of contraceptive in the nurse’s office.. they should be giving them out.” She said “[kids are] obviously having it [sex] anyway” when asked about it.

Andrew and Lindsay said they will name their baby, due November 12, Chloe Jade. He said “we’re trying to do everything we can to make it right for the mistake that we made.”

Ethan Hawke, 37, was spotted out on Father’s Day with his two children with ex Uma Thurman, and his pregnant fiancé, 27 year-old Ryan Shawhughes. Ryan worked as a nanny to his two children, Maya, who turns 10 next month, and Levon, 6, back when he was married to Uma. Ethan and Ryan went to great lengths to keep their relationship secret, and while they claim they didn’t hook up until after his divorce was final, the tabloids of course say otherwise.

TMZ has a video of them on Sunday and when a paparazzo wishes him happy Father’s Day Ethan responds “F’ck you” while walking right next to his six year old son and within earshot of his daughter. There was more than one photographer tailing them and chances are high that one of them said a bunch of rude stuff to him before he boiled over and told him to F off. If you listen to the crap the photographers shout at celebrities even on the red carpet it’s sometimes outrageous.

Ryan and Ethan applied for a marriage license earlier this month and I’m guessing that’s one wedding photo that’s not likely to be in People Magazine.

Being pregnant in summertime must suck. Being pregnant at 17 must really suck. Put those two things together, and you have whole new levels of suckitude. And unfortunately for Jamie Lynn Spears, that is exactly what she is going through. “Insiders” (I love “insiders” – I imagine they’re mostly comprised of small house rodents and bugs that report back to E! News and Star once a week) say Spears is in the last few weeks of her pregnancy, and is remarkably uncomfortable. She’s also been dealing with some false labor cramps.

“She’s feeling so large and just feeling all the discomfort that comes with it,” a source close to Jamie Lynn tells E! News. The pregnant teen has also been hit with some mild cramps for the past two days, our insider says. “Sounds like some false labor pains,” says the friend. “But nothing serious enough to go to the hospital over. They called her doctor, but everything’s fine.”

At least the pregnant teen has plenty of support. Daddy Casey Aldridge is doing his best to make her feel better, rubbing her back when the cramps kick up, says our source. And her mom is at her side, pitching in with last-minute nursery decorating. But the humid summer heat plaguing Mississippi (where the parents-to-be own a home) isn’t helping. Even a brief trip outdoors leaves her sticky with sweat.

“Britney apparently called her recently and ordered her to stay inside, under the air conditioning, as much as possible,” the source says. “It was really cute.” Britney and father Jamie have been calling regularly to check in on the mommy-to-be, who is expected to deliver at the end of this month. Unless, of course, the baby’s late.

“Jamie Lynn knows first babies have a habit of being late,” says the pal. “And she isn’t too happy about it. I think she’s ready for all this pregnancy stuff to be over and the mommy stuff to start.”

I’m under the impression that once the “mommy stuff” starts, that when things really get difficult. I mean it’s great that you’re not throwing up all the time anymore, but it’s more than made up for with the crying and the diapers and lack of sleep. I’m no expert, but I really don’t think Jamie Lynn’s going to find motherhood to be some permanent reprieve.

It does seem like she’s willing to really focus on her baby, since she bought a house near her mom’s home in Kentwood, Louisiana. At first everyone was assuming she’d raise her baby in Los Angeles while working on her acting career. But last time I checked, Kentwood wasn’t exactly the Hollywood of the South. So it sounds like Jaime Lynn will probably focus on raising her baby for now. Hopefully the next few weeks won’t be too uncomfortable for her, and the baby won’t be late.

The now famous “pregnant man” Thomas Beatie is due to give birth to his first child in a month. Thomas has had a normal and healthy pregnancy after being artificially inseminated at home by his wife Nancy, who used a syringe they had to get from their veterinarian. Thomas and Nancy went on Oprah in April to discuss his pregnancy, and the mechanics behind it. The pair recently gave an interview to News of the World.

“I feel fantastic,” he said. “I cannot wait to see my baby’s face.” In a tender and intimate moment, Thomas shares a cuddle with wife Nancy—before telling the News of the World of his secret hopes for the future. With four weeks to go, he sensationally reveals the couple are ready to have MORE BABIES after the birth of their daughter.

And as well as posing for these amazing world exclusive pictures, Thomas opens up his family album to show unseen snaps of his life as a teenage beauty queen. Thomas—who changed sex ten years ago but kept his ovaries and womb so he could have children—told us: “I feel on top of the world. I’m 36 weeks now and almost due but I feel fantastic. Every day Nancy and I think about how we just cannot wait to hold our daughter for the first time, to finally get to touch her and see her face. We have her nursery ready and her diapers are lined up in her bedroom. Everything is ready to go.

“We have even picked a name which we both love—although we’re waiting until she is born before we tell anyone. All the people who really know us and love us, our friends and family, have been incredibly supportive. So much so we might even have more children. We will just see what the experience is like with our daughter’s arrival first and then give it some thought.”

News of the World has some really interesting pictures of Thomas and Nancy on their website. We can’t post them here because they have exclusive rights, but they’re definitely worth a look. There’s a traditional pregnant belly picture with a shirtless Thomas and Nancy gazing down at his stomach. There’s also a really interesting picture of Thomas in a bubble bath, with his stomach poking out from the water. My favorite is Thomas shaving his face, his elbow resting on his bump.

On Oprah, Thomas’ doctor said he hadn’t taken testosterone in two years. If that’s the case, I’m a little curious about why it is he needs to shave his face. The thing that most struck me when looking at their photos, is that they don’t really seem that odd to me. I can’t explain it. Perhaps is because they seem like such a common, loving couple. Even when you look down, it takes a minute to register that something’s different.

Thomas and Nancy are clearly beyond excited for the birth of their new baby, and the possibility of expanding their family even further. Hopefully he’ll have an easy birth – he is scheduled for a c-section on July 3rd.

Angelina Jolie is hoping to have a natural delivery for the upcoming birth of her twins. According to an “insider” (gotta love those anonymous, chatty insiders) Angelina was planning on a natural birth with 2-year-old daughter Shiloh and was disappointed when she had to have a C-section instead. This time Angie’s really hoping to go the natural route – twice.

Amid swirling reports that Angelina Jolie is on bed-rest and close to giving birth — so close, that the French media jumped the gun and announced the actress had already delivered her twins last week — the heavily pregnant actress has begun telling friends that she hopes to give birth naturally to her twin girls.

“She prepared for a natural child birth for Shiloh and was very disappointed when her doctors told her she would have to undergo a Cesarean section,” a source close to Angelina tells OK!. “She is praying everything will go her way and she will be able to enjoy a natural birth.”

According to OK! Brad and Angie are quasi-fanatical about the safety of their babies. Luckily they don’t sound like they’re J-Lo crazy, and aren’t requiring surgical masks and hand sanitizer dispensers be installed around their home. But they do have a plethora of security, along with a midwife and two private nurses. The source also says there’s no way Angelina will be able to go full term with the babies.

The most important thing to Angie, however is to protect her babies. The actress and her partner Brad Pitt are taking every pre-caution to ensure a safe delivery, reserving a private birthing room at Le Centre Hospitalier Princesse Grace in Monaco, and hiring a midwife and two French nurses who are currently staying with her at Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen’s compound in St.-Jean-Cap-Ferrat.

“Whether Angelina experiences natural childbirth or has a scheduled C-section, she will not go to full term with the twins,” the source says. “She’s been told to expect the babies early, and that was the reason she and Brad went early to France — so they would be ready for their babies whenever they decide to make their appearance.”

Hot X-Files actress Gillian Anderson, 39, is pregnant with her third child. Anderson has a daughter, Piper, 13, from her first marriage, and a 2 year-old son, Oscar, with her boyfriend, director Mark Griffiths.

Anderson was married to her second husband, documentary filmmaker Julian Ozanne, for 16 months before they announced their separation in April, 2006. She had her second child, reportedly by her current boyfriend Mark Griffiths, in November 2006. You can do the math, but maybe she decided to wait before making it known that she was separated from her second husband.

Anderson will next appear in the much-anticipated X-Files sequel, The X-Files: I Want to Believe, which is out in the US on July 25.

Alanis Morissette came out of hiding a couple of weeks ago to promote her new CD, and it was hard not to notice her weight gain. While Alanis didn’t directly address it, she did mention that she has been battling depression over the last couple of years. Now, because the singer abstained from alcohol at an event, rumors are flying that the weight gain isn’t from depression at all- it’s because she’s expecting.

Alanis Morissette’s camp is mum on rumors she’s expecting. Alanis did forsake shots of Patron Tequila at the Cutting Room party for her new CD, “Flavors of Entanglement.” Singing “Hands Clean,” she mentioned that the song is supposed to be about her relationship with another woman. Morissette, who has no current boyfriend of record, said that’s not true, but didn’t mind the gossip.

No your eyes are not messed up: you read that headline correctly. Of all the upsetting, horrendous things I’ve ever had to report, this may very well be the worst. Clay Aiken is going to be a father, according to Us Weekly and TMZ.

Idol Clay Aiken’s producer is pregnant with his child, TMZ.com reports.

Jaymes Foster (who is reportedly in her late 40s) was artificial inseminated with the 29-year-old singer’s sperm, according to the report.

Aiken lives with Foster – described as his “best friend” – when he’s in L.A. and plans to be involved with parenting their child, TMZ reports.

The crooner has consistently avoided questions about his sexuality.

“People don’t want to have that type of stuff pushed, people who are living in Omaha or in Charlotte or wherever,” Aiken told Access Hollywood last month.

“They don’t want stuff like that pushed in their face,” he added. “I don’t think that’s necessary and that’s also not what I’m here for. I mean, I went on Idol to be a singer, I went on Idol to be an entertainer and that’s what my priority is.”

This means that someone intentionally chose to have Clay Aiken’s DNA growing inside them. It wasn’t some drunken mistake (I realize that’s even less likely to happen with Clay Aiken, but you get the point). It was this conscious, thought-out plan. It means that Jaymes Foster looked around at the men in her life, and the VERY BEST CANDIDATE was Clay Aiken. Which makes me really judge the other men she knows.

According to TMZ, Foster is 50-years-old, the sister of record mogul David Foster, and has produced several of Clay’s albums. The way they phrased it is that “Clay is a lot more than sperm — we’re told he will have an active role in raising the child.” Considering the way Clay supposedly bosses everyone around and lectures people on manners, he’s going to be one uptight dad.

Clay is scheduled to perform on the Tonight Show this evening. Something tells me this won’t come up, but you never know.

I hope you all are sitting down, because I have some shocking news. Newlywed Ashlee Simpson is pregnant! I know- I had no idea, either! Simpson and her new husband Pete Wentz confirmed what everyone else already knew: Ashlee has just completed her first trimester of pregnancy. So now the question is: did Ashlee wait to confirm her condition because she wanted to do the customary “wait until the third month” thing, or did she want to wait until she and Pete were married? Wait. That’s not the question. The question is, “Who gives a crap?”

Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz have confirmed they are expecting their first child.

They announced the news — which Usmagazine.com first broke in April — on his Web site, friendsorenemies.com, on Wednesday.

“While many have speculated about this, we wanted to wait until after the first trimester to officially confirm that we are expecting our first child,” they wrote. “This is truly the most joyous time in our lives and we are excited to share the happy news and start our family.”

The couple wed in Los Angeles on May 17. They just returned from their honeymoon to the Caribbean.

So, it really was a shotgun wedding after all. How quaint! I don’t know if the pregnancy and the baby are going to help their image or Ashlee’s album sales, but congrats- I guess. I didn’t learn this until recently, but it is legally possible for one adult to adopt another adult. There are all sorts of reasons people do this: to will rent-controlled apartments, to circumvent laws, etc. But it happens. As such, I will be petitioning Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie to adopt me. We already know they’re into adoption. We know they like to adopt in unconventional ways – no common American babies for them. What would cause more of a stir than adopting an adult? Nothing. And I am now damn sure they’ve got the money. And compared to what they’re spending on their other kids, I am a relative bargain.

I’m sure a large amount of their money goes to security – and one would think the nine cars are a part of that. Can you imagine having a helicopter on call for your birth? At this point, why not just have a hospital built next to your house? I mean they’re spending so much as it is. That’s the only thing more dramatic than a helicopter.

Life & Style points out how happy Angelina has seemed in the last few weeks, and that’s very true. It’s easy to forget she used to be such a dark character. She’s been beaming from ear to ear, despite carrying around 2 fetuses that look bigger than she does. At $10 million a kid, those are two lucky babies.
