Bourne Ultimatum Premiere

Matt Damon was flanked by the two women in his life, his mother and his wife, at the premiere of The Bourne Ultimatum in Hollywood last night. It will be the third installment in the excellent Bourne series, and will be the last starring Damon. He has ruled out appearing in another sequel:

Amidst telling the press that he feels “a bit like a prostitute for putting out two number threes in one year” (to which George Clooney added, “That’s better than three number twos”), Damon said (regarding the Bourne franchise): “I’m definitely done with that. I think we’ve ridden that horse as far as we can. The character lives on in the books and if someone else wanted to play it, I guess they could.”

[Cinematical.com]

To me the Bourne series is so excellent that I don’t think it would hurt Damon’s career to continue playing the character. You can see why he’d want to move on, though.

Damon credits the first Bourne movie, The Bourne Identity, with saving his career. He says he was working in theater, hadn’t done a film in six months before it came out and that his last two movies had tanked. After the film came out to box office and critical acclaim he started getting offers again.

He also says it was harder to play action hero this time around. He said when the first movie came out he was 29, and that at 36 he “felt his age” when working on some of the fight scenes for Ultimatum.

He said: “There was a huge difference in the fighting stuff. The first movie, ‘The Bourne Identity’, came out when I was 29. For the third one I was 36 and I definitely felt my age.

“In one big fight scene in Tangiers, Joey Ansah, the guy I’m fighting, is only 23. He would have been in high school when the first film came out!”

[From Monsters and Critics]

The Bourne Ultimatum is out in theaters on August 3.

Here are pictures from the premiere including Julia Stiles, Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck. Thanks to Splash News and PRPhotos.

Anne Hathaway at the “Becoming Jane” premiere

Anne Hathaway is so darn purty at the premiere of “Becoming Jane” in New York last night. (I’m sorry for the hackneyed spelling, but it takes some of the sting out of it for me if I write it like that.) She’s the perfect mix of minx and girl next door in that tight dress. Despite how low cut it is you know she won’t ever fall out of it, and that what makes it so kick ass. Her fashion in the past has been hit or miss so it’s nice to see her get it perfectly right. I would like to see Hathaway get more attention from the paparazzi and press, but maybe she realizes what a double-edged sword that is and deliberately stays away from the Hollywood scene.

Hathaway has a clean cut image and she’s capitalizing on it with a recent endorsement campaign. The 24 year-old actress is going to represent Active Estates, a planned retirement community! I wonder how they’ll explain her involvement. Does she have a grandparent that she’ll be visiting?

Despite how drama-free she seems, there is some scandal in Hathaway’s life. Her longterm boyfriend, 28 year-old Italian property developer Raffaello Follieri, has been accused of misusing corporate funds to keep Hathaway in the lavish lifestyle to which she’s become accustomed.

Becoming Jane is the story of novelist Jane Austin’s romance with an Irishman before she became famous. It is out in theaters on August 10. Here’s the trailer. The music sounds straight out of Sense and Sensibility:

The Simpsons Movie Premiere: Can you guess who voices which character?

It’s a novelty to find pictures of a big movie premiere in which the celebrities aren’t that recognizable. I love the Simpsons and watch it all the time but I never really knew who voiced what, except for the crazy Scientologist chick who does Bart.

Here are pictures from the premiere, but we’ll do something different today. Rather than show the thumbnails first here’s a list of the voice characters with a link to pictures of the person who voices them.

Homer Simpson (also does Grampa Abraham Simpson, Barney Gumble, Krusty the Clown, Groundskeeper Willie, Mayor Quimby, Hans Moleman, Sideshow Mel, Itchy, Kodos, Gil, Poochie, Squeaky-Voiced Teen, Burn’s Lawyer, Mr. Teeny, Bill Clinton.)

Bart Simpson (also does Nelson Muntz, Todd Flanders, Ralph Wiggum, Kearney, Database.)

Marge Simpson (also does Patty and Selma)

Lisa Simpson

Milhouse Van Houten (also does Rod Flanders, Janey Powell, Jimbo Jones, Malibu Stacy, Sarah Wiggum.)

Apu Nahasapeemapetilon (also does Moe Szyslak, Chief Clancy Wiggum, Comic Book Guy, Lou, Carl, Dr. Nick Riviera, Snake, Kirk Van Houten, Captain McCallister, Bumblebee Man, Superintendent Chalmers, Professor Frink, Cletus, Dredrick Tatum.)

There were also a lot of celebrities at the premiere and it looks like they had a great time walking the yellow carpet. To start, here are thumbnails of the voice characters:

Others at the premiere included Simpsons creator Matt Groening, Patricia Heaton and her family, Kevin Smith, Ed McMahon, Lisa Leslie and her family, Lisa Edelstein, Albert Brooks, David Hasselhoff and his daughters, Marilu Henner, Ian Ziering, Fred Willard, and Dr. Phil with his son.

I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry premiere

Adam Sandler and Kevin James star in I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry, a film about two straight Brooklyn firemen who try to act like they’re a couple in order to get domestic partner benefits. Jessica Biel also stars, and I just bet she’s what blows their cover.

Here’s the trailer:

It looks kind of funny but it could also be dumb and overdone. It’s directed by Dennis Dugan, who also directed Happy Gilmore, Big Daddy, and Saving Silverman.

I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry is out in theaters on July 20.

Also shown at the premiere are Katherine McPhee, Steve Buscemi, Ian Ziering, and Anna Faris, who looks nothing like she used to. Thanks to PRPhotos. Stills from the film are also shown, and these are from AllMoviePhoto.

LA Premiere of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix

Harry Potter mania is about to hit. Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix is out in US theaters on Wednesday while the last book in the Harry Potter series, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, is out next Saturday, July 21.

Advance reviews for the film are overwhelmingly positive, with a current 87% aggregate critics rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Several critics have written that it’s the best Harry Potter film yet, and that it’s darker and scarier than its four predecessors.

As for the book, I have to admit I’ve read all the other Harry Potter titles and although I won’t be waiting in line for it I’ll be sure to snatch up a copy within a few days of its release.

Diehard Harry Potter fans are planning a media blackout next weekend so that the end is not spoiled for them. JK Rowling has said that two characters will die at the end of the series, and a lot of speculation has surrounded her claims. She said she was crying while writing the end of the book and that she was devastated to end it. Fans want to know who dies, but not until they get a chance to read the whole book first.

Now, as the July 21 release of the seventh and final book in the series, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, approaches, fans who have waited the better part of a decade to find out the ultimate fate of Harry, his friends and his nemeses are taking no chances.

But how far do they have to go? Must they close their eyes, cover their ears and scream, “LALALALA?”

Pretty much. In fact, if you want to get in touch with a rabid Harry Potter fan on the weekend of July 21-22, you might be out of luck.

Readers are planning media blackouts — no computers, no cell phones, no TV, no radio. And if that’s not enough, they’re threatening to get physical.

“I’ll beat the crap out of the person who spoils it for me,” Pritthish Chakraborty wrote in an e-mail. Chakraborty, 17, who runs a fan Web site, Harry Potter Beyond, in his native Bangladesh, was spoiled two years ago when a “friend” sent a picture message to his cell phone of the page describing Dumbledore’s death.

Many fans don’t want to give up the excitement and camaraderie of a midnight release party, but they know they’re putting themselves at risk.

“We advise people — I know this is terrible — to bring headphones to the book release and put them on as they leave the store so they’re not subject to the idiot across the street screaming the end to them,” said Melissa Anelli, a webmaster of the Leaky Cauldron, a prominent Harry Potter fan site.

[AP Article from the Houston Chronicle thanks to Viv for e-mailing it.]

In 2005 some fans were upset to have the end of the last book yelled out at them as they left bookstores early in the morning of the release.

I’m the kind of person that can’t resist looking up spoilers, but that wouldn’t keep me from reading the book as all the fun is getting there.

Here are pictures from the LA premiere of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix including Daniel Radcliffe. Emma Watson with brother, Alex, Rupert Grint, Imelda Staunton, Melissa Joan Hart, and Masi Oka. Rupert Grint is wearing a cute shirt with a picture of Harry on it.

Thanks to PRPhotos for these pics.

J-Lo Weeps as movie Booed in Berlin

jlo.jpg
J-Lo’s ongoing quest for cinematic success and praise has hit a serious bump. A public viewing of her latest film. The kind of bump that really can’t be avoided. Even the socks and sandals crew isnt sold on her latest offering:

Jennifer Lopez’s new movie was booed at the 57th Annual Berlin Film Festival at the weekend.
‘Bordertown’ premiered at the event but the reception it received was less than favourable.
According to reports, most of the audience voiced their disappointment by booing and jeering

via Female First

Jennifer hasn’t had overwhelming success of late in her movies and hasn’t really had good critical response since Out of Sight. The early promise of her movie career was so massively derailed by the infotainment industry that turned her life into the show and her major attraction. The launch of the celebrity name merger really dates from Bennifer: the primordial soup from which all other two headed monsters emerged. Maybe the movie she should have gone for was Bennifer Versus Brangelina: the two could stomp over downtown Tokyo.

A source claims J.Lo fled the cinema in tears after hearing the cacophony of boos and is now said to be worried the movie will be panned by critics.
In ‘Bordertown’, the 37-year-old actress plays an American journalist investigating a series of murders near American-owned factories in Juarez and El Paso, in Mexico.
J.Lo, known for her roles in romantic comedies, has starred in several box office flops, including ‘Gigli’ and ‘Jersey Girl’.
She was hoping her performance in ‘Bordertown’ would prove her worth as a serious actress.

Collapsing the private and the professional seems to have backfired in the longterm, but ironically the general buzz seems to indicate that while Bordertown may tank … her smaller more personal, straight from her personal life, co-starring her latest husband flick - El Cantate- may be the film that gets her all that love and success she so sorely lacks.

Madonna Loves Guy on the Carpet

Mad About the Guy

The evil 3am Girls over at the Mirror report some atypically happily married news about Madonna and Guy Ritchie

MADONNA proved there’s only one Guy for her - as she cuddled up to her husband at last night’s premiere of her new movie.

The pop queen made the film, Arthur and the Invisibles, real family viewing by taking along her clan.
Madge, 48, showed she was truly, madly, deeply hooked on Guy, 38, as she clutched his arm as they held hands outside the West End gala.

Daughter Lourdes, 10, and son Rocco, six, grabbed hold of Dad’s other arm. But adopted 15-month-old David Banda was left snoozing at home. When we inquired about him, Madge gushed: “He’s great, wonderful. Thank you so much for asking.”

They must have been really beaming that solid couple vibe because the actual evidence is rather flimsy … a bit of hand holding and a bit of cuddling on the red (actually green) carpet at a premiere. Surely the weather outside in January in London would induce cuddling in all but the most hostile of couples. As anyone can see although Madonna’s had all the kids Guy’s put on all the weight – you know what they say — big boys keep you warm in the winter and give you shade in the summertime.

Should make him useful at pretty much any movie premiere anywhere … well, sadly excluding premieres of his own movies. If there are going to be anymore of those …. Hmm no wonder he’s packed on the pounds. Career death can make Ben & Jerry any formerly fit boys best friends … you can’t cuddle up to them on the red carpet, but you can late, late at night, in your mansion, in a dark corner as you silently weep into your pint of Chunky Monkey mumbling “Swept Away … WHY … Why … why …

Jennifer Garner at the Catch and Release premiere

Jennifer Garner posed with everyone except her husband, Ben Affleck, at the LA premiere of her new movie, Catch and Release, last night. She was seen with co-starts wacky Juliette Lewis, Timothy Olyphant, producer JJ Abrams, and Victor Garber.

People diss Garner for supposedly not being drop dead gorgeous, and some say she has a “man face” and call her mean names, but she’s easily my favorite celebrity. She’s nice without being fake or cloying, and she seems like a genuinely kind, happy person. I also think she’s quite pretty and doesn’t look like she had a lot of work done. Her Golden Globes dress didn’t fit her thin frame perfectly, but it wasn’t fugly or anything. This dress isn’t doing her any favors, either, and in one of these pics with Victor Garber she seems to notice that it’s falling down.

I don’t know why people have a problem with her. The most scandalous thing about her is that she was divorced from her first husband, I guess, and some find that boring. Give me boring mom Garner over the teenage-acting trainwrecks any day.

Catch and Release is the story of woman rebuilding her life after her husband dies and finding herself with the help of her friends. It is out in theaters on January 26.

Here’s the trailer. It looks cheesy but I think I would like it.

Smoking Aces premiere with Ben Affleck and Ryan Reynolds

Smoking Aces had its premier last night in Hollywood at Grauman’s Chinese Theatre. Stars in attendance included Ben Affleck, Ryan Reynolds, whiny Kanye West, Elizabeth Banks, Jenna Dewan, Alicia Keys, Amanda Peet, Chris Pine, and Andy Garcia.

I’ve never heard of this guy Chris Pine before, but he is fine. Also, isn’t Amanda Peet pregnant? I would have liked to see some bump pictures. She is so cute on Studio 60.

Here’s the plot summary from IMDB:

An FBI agent (Reynolds) hunts for a Las Vegas stand up comedian (Piven) who has decided to squeal on the mob but, before he heads off for protective custody, decides to go to the casinos at Lake Tahoe for one last good time, drawing a crowd of assassins (including Affleck and Keys).

I wonder why Jeremy Piven wasn’t photographed at the premiere?

And here’s a teaser trailer:

Advance buzz is not good for this film, which is said to be overly violent and unoriginal. Smoking Aces is out in theaters on 1/26.

Update: pictures removed due to end of subscription agreement with photo agency.

Will Smith and his family at the Rome “Pursuit of Happyness” premiere

Will Smith, Jada Pinkett Smith and their son Jaden were on the red carpet at the Rome premier of Will and Jaden’s film The Pursuit of Happyness. Will and Jada have son Jaden, 8, and a daughter, Willow Camille Reign, 6. Will has another son from his first marriage with Sharee Zampino, Willard Christopher III, 14, who goes by Trey.

The Pursuit of Happyness is the story of a down on his luck single father working against the odds to build a life for his son. I have not seen it yet, but Pajiba critic Dustin Rowles says that it tears at your heartstrings even though it’s so obviously hoaky. It sounds like you should bring some tissues to the theater.

Here’s the trailer:

Will was seen kissing both Jada and Jaden at the Paris premiere of the film. I thought it was pretty cute, but over-the-top gossip site Media Take Out says it’s “borderline criminal.” If kissing your kid is borderline criminal I would be wearing an ankle bracelet now.

I’m not digging Jada’s bubble hairdo but her dress looks decent. She’s got such a good figure she can pull off all those fringes, which might not be flattering on a bigger woman.
