Kate Hudson at the Australian “You, Me, and Dupree” premiere

“You, Me, and Dupree” is not doing so bad at the box office, and is in fourth place on its second weekend out. “Pirates” is still kicking ass at first place, of course. “You Me, and Dupree” is supposed to royally suck, though, and is getting panned by critics.

Kate Hudson won a recent libel award from the British arm of The National Enquirer. Celebrities sue the British and Irish offshoots of US gossip magazines to get around US libel laws, which shield publications from damages unless it can be proven that they acted from malice. (So basically the US gossip rags can make shit up and no one can sue them.) Britney Spears is now suing 8 gossip magazines from offshore in the hopes of scoring some cash to feed her estranged husband’s fast lifestyle.

Hudson was refuting a report that she was dangerously thin and that her mother, Goldie Hawn, was worried for her health. She won an undisclosed settlement from the magazine.

Here is Hudson looking like an elf at the July 23rd Australian premiere of “You, Me, and Dupree” with annoying Owen Wilson. She shouldn’t wear her hair back because it certainly isn’t flattering to her face. [via]

Mischa Barton has a foul mouth

Mischa Barton’s limo was too big to maneuver around some tight curves in London, so the the driver had the former “O.C.” star get out and walk a little bit to get to the UK premiere of “Pirates of the Caribbean 3.” She was accompanied by British talk show hosts Alan Carr and Justin Lee Collins of Channel 4’s “Friday Night Project.”

Collins said he loved Barton’s foul mouth and had a great time with the 20 year-old actress:

The TV star spent all of Monday (03.07.06) with the former ‘O.C.’ star filming segments for his Channel 4 show ‘The Friday Night Project’ - and even escorted the stunning actress to the London premiere of ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest’.

Collins has now revealed she has a filthy mouth.
He told BANG Showbiz: “She has a wicked sense of humour. She’s really cheeky.
“I was quite shocked to be honest because she looks all sweet and lovely but she would come out with certain things and I would just be stunned. “She’s one hell of a girl. She’s wicked and I love her.”

Britain’s Mirror also reports that Barton said she didn’t “give a s*** where Paris is” when someone told her that she just missed Paris Hilton’s visit to the UK. That’s not surprising since the two have fought in the press before.

Here is Barton getting in her limo and at the “Pirates” premiere. Her dress is too short and the jeweled top and cap sleeves are just odd. Barton is seen with talk show host Justin Lee Collins and has not moved on from Cisco Adler to another shockingly unsuitable suitor.

Keira Knightley denies being anorexic

People should dress to fit their body type and not try to deny that they’re super-thin or carrying a few extra pounds. We call it a muffin top when chubby chicks try to wear tight jeans and short tops, and we need a suitable nickname for thin women showing off their concave chests. I was going to write something about Keira’s “dead woman’s chest,” but figured that would be too cliche. Something about pancakes would be suitable, but it’s not about flat chests as much as sunken sternums.

knightley wore a gold Gucci dress with a non-existent neckline to the premiere of “Pirates of the Caribbean 2″ in London that highlighted her skeletal frame. She was absolutely shocked that people think she might be anorexic and said that oh, anorexia runs in her family but of course she doesn’t have that problem:

“I’ve got a lot of experience with anorexia — my grandmother and great-grandmother suffered from it, and I had a lot of friends at school who suffered from it,” Knightley said. “I know it’s not something to be taken lightly and I don’t.”

She said she was surprised by any suggestion that she had an eating disorder.

“(The press) said to me yesterday `How does it feel to be called anorexic?’ and I had no idea that I was,” Knightley said. “I’m not saying there aren’t people in the film industry that suffer from it, because I am sure that there are. But I’m quite sure I don’t have it.”

She handled the question well by saying that she’s glad she helped stir up interest in the issue and that it’s good that people are talking about it.

She’s obviously in denial that she’s so thin, and shouldn’t be showing off her tiny body. Kate Bosworth must realize how she looks because she wore a tight but flattering dress to the “Superman Returns” premiere and didn’t look like the stick that she is.

Knightley has tried to play off her thinness by saying that she doesn’t diet or exercise and that she admires curves on women. She said in an interview with Elle magazine that she eats “bowls” of pasta and drinks plenty of wine:

“I’m trying to go ‘Fuck it’ and have bowls of pasta or whatever makes me happy. I haven’t been to the gym since January and I’m drinking about half a bottle of wine a night. Fuck it, you’ve got one life - live it.”

Knightley went on to admire the curves of other actresses like Scarlett Johansson whose body is about a million miles away from Knightley’s slender frame and who she was photographed with nude for the front cover of Vanity Fair.

She added: “That kind of decadent flesh is absolutely beautiful. How sexy is that on a woman?”

“We had such a laugh. Scarlett’s a sweetheart. I’m not completely comfortable with my body but I just thought, ‘Fuck it’.”

It is was true that Knightley is eating “bowls” of pasta it would show on her frame. It’s also very telling that she says she’s not comfortable with herself, and calls Johansson’s hot body “decadent flesh.” Johansson is fit with curves and is not chubby at all. If Knightley thought Johansson looked good she would call her hot or curvy but instead she uses a description that is more suited to a side of beef. She obviously has problems with normal-looking women and isn’t going to gain weight until she faces reality.

Here are some candids of Knightley in London on 7/2, at a “Pirates of the Caribbean” photocall with Orlando Bloom and at the UK premiere on 7/3. [via]

“Pirates of the Caribbean 2″ Premiere with Keira Knightley and Johnny Depp

Pirates of the Caribbean 2 premiered at Disneyland in Anaheim, California on June 24th. The film draws inspiration from the ride of the same name at the Disney theme parks. Pissed off fans and press waited nearly 6 hours at Disneyland for a chance to see the stars, who were gone all too quickly:

There was a pre-party with grog and grub at the Blue Bayou and Café Orleans for the premiere guests. They could also ride the new Pirates ride that features characters from the film: Jack Sparrow, his nemesis Captain Barbossa, and the squid-faced Davy Jones and then fill three huge red, yellow and green bleachers to view the film scheduled to be shown on an outdoor screen at around 9 p.m.

But by 7:30, the fans out on the carpet were getting hungry and hoarse, children began whimpering and even the seasoned press was turning surly.

“We’ve been standing here 5 hours and we’ve not seen a single lead actor from the film,” groused a KTLA reporter. “This is insane. Why would they make us stand out here this long?” Even a befuddled German reporter asked, “Is this normal?…”

At 8:15 p.m., frenzied screaming came from the carpet entrance. Down the line, cameramen on step ladders reported seeing Depp, Knightley and Bloom’s heads. The actors are posing for photos, zig-zagging down the carpet, talking to TV crews, then running over to shake hands and sign autographs for fans. That’s why it’s taking so long.

But it’s getting late, almost 9 p.m., and the very real fear is that the film’s stars will be yanked away by publicists and taken into the party so the film can begin…

Desperate reporters, sensing doom, start to break ranks. Mutinuous USA Today, People and Us Weekly scribes climb over the metal bars and run down the carpet to try to talk to Depp, who is surrounded by Disney pubs, his personal pub, Robin Baum, and roughly two dozen black-suited security guards, wearing headsets.

“If you have movie tickets, go in and take your seats,” warns a stern guard. We’re taking him in. The movie has to start!”

The carpet has become a mob scene. Guards are getting nervous. Reporters are pleading with publicists. Cameras keep flashing. Fans are screaming, “Joooohnnnyyy!” Suddenly the situation implodes as the guards surround Depp and rush their celebrity charge down the carpet.

Reporters and cameramen have to run ahead of the Depp Delta Force, as if trying to outrun a molten lava flow. “Keep moving! Keep moving! Keep moving!,” the guards shout.

Just a few frenzied minutes later and it’s all over. Depp is gone. After waiting for six hours, disgruntled reporters pack up and leave. And countless disappointed fans only got a split-second glimpse of Depp’s fedora.

That’s annoying that people were made to wait so long. Disneyland didn’t plan it correctly and should not have told people to show up so early.

“Pirates of the Caribbean 2″ opens on July 7th.

Here are pictures from the premiere of Keira Knightley, Johnny Depp, and Orlando Bloom. I really like Keira’s dress and think it’s a good choice for the premiere of this semi-spooky film. Also shown are Christina Applegate, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Stacy Keibler, Daisy Fuentes and the Governator, Arnold Schwarzenegger. [via]

Kate Bosworth and Orlando Bloom at the Superman Returns premiere

Kate Bosworth and new super-hottie Brandon Routh attended the premiere of “Superman Returns” last night in LA. Kate was dashing in a floor length white gown, but her ears looked elvish and she should have worn her hair down.

“Superman Returns” opens this weekend and is sure to be a hit with critics and crowds. It has an astonishing 96% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, with critics saying that it’s “superb,” “triumphant,” and a lot of fun.

Here is an interview with Bosworth about her character, Lois Lane, in “Superman Returns.” The narration voice-over is really loud, so be careful if you’re watching at work.

Bosworth did all her own flying stunts with a harness in the film.

Bosworth is seen posing with her costar Brandon Routh, and with her flirty boyfriend, Orlando Bloom. People were saying that Bloom and Bosworth may have ended their tumultuous relationship after Bloom was caught nuzzling Claire Danes and having lunch with Sienna Miller.

Here are pictures from the premiere [via] and the film.

Update: Some images removed on request.

Jennifer Aniston still looks pregnant

People are saying she’s bloated or whatever, but she really looks pregnant to me. Look how she poses defensively on the red carpet, holding her hands over her stomach and looking like she’s trying to hide something. I think she’s wearing a girdle here but still has a bump. It’s below her belly button, not in the stomach area where it should be. If you look at the candid of her outside the Rodin museum, you can see a definite rounding. I may be wishing and hoping for this, since it would make such juicy gossip considering the situation, but I do believe it’s true.

Life and Style Weekly is reporting that Aniston is pregnant. Yes I know that doesn’t make it true, but someone else is reporting it!

Here is Aniston at a “Break Up” screening and photocall in Germany on June 12th and at the gardens of the Rodin museum in Paris on June 11th.

Audrey Tautou says she’s going to quit acting

In what sounds like a response to critics panning her new film, “The DaVinci Code,” French actress Audrey Tautou, best known as the cutesy meddler in “Amelie,” says that she’s going to quit acting:

The French actress told Grazia magazine: “When I started acting, I had the idea that I would continue until I’m 40.

“Now, after doing The Da Vinci Code, I’m probably ready to quit at 30.

“I know I’m not the best actress in the world and not the worst but I think that maybe I’d be happier doing something that doesn’t leave me so exposed.”

She sounds like a sensitive person and she’s probably quite hurt by the bad reviews of “DaVinci Code.”

Hopefully she’s just being reactionary and won’t quit anytime soon. One bad film is not a good enough reason to throw away an acting career. She’s only 27, and has a good three years left in her by her own account, anyway.

Here she is looking cute and just a little bit flirty with Tom Hanks at a DaVinci Code photo call, and at the premiere and after party for the film. She is also shown in stills from the movie.

“DaVinci Code” is so bad that people hissed at it

When The DaVinci Code was screened at Cannes, people laughed at a key dramatic scene and hissed and booed at the end. Critics are saying it’s hard to follow and really boring:

At Cannes, one scene during the film, meant to be serious, elicited prolonged laughter from the audience, and when the credits rolled, there was no applause, only a few catcalls and hisses. Things were no better Stateside, where the film screened for critics in New York.

The Hollywood Reporter headlined its review, ” ‘Da Vinci Code’ an unwieldy, bloated puzzle.”

“No chemistry exists between the hero and heroine, and motivation remains a troubling sore point,” wrote reviewer Kirk Honeycutt, panning Tom Hanks’ “remote, even wooden performance.” Only co-star Ian McKellen managed to avoid criticism.

Director Ron Howard has blown off bad reviews, saying he hasn’t read them and hopes additonal reviews will be “slightly more upbeat.” He wants “Da Vinci Code” to be a crowd pleaser, and seems nonchalant about the religious controversy over the film’s content. He told people that if the content would upset them, they should just stay away.

Author Dan Brown suggests that Jesus Christ was married to Mary Magdalene and had a child with her. Everyone from the Opus Dei cult to the nation of India is boycotting the film. All the protesting won’t matter once the news gets out about how terrible the film is. No one will want to see it anyway.

I haven’t seen the film yet of course, but I thought the book sucked. The writing was terrible. I don’t remember any of the details because there were so many crammed in there. The action scenes were decent, but they couldn’t save the lousy writing.

My favorite review comes from TimeOut’s London edition:

If ever there was a movie marriage made in hell it was that between novelist Dan Brown and film director Ron Howard. Brown’s clunky, awkward prose is well matched to Howard’s frighteningly earnest, spoon-feeding approach to cinema.

Here’s the trailer:

DaVinci Code currently has an unprecedented 0% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. That will probably raise slightly as lesser critics are wined and dined by the studio.

Jessica Alba nose job controversy: Part II

On Monday we reported that it looked like Jessica Alba had a nose job based on HQs of her at two different events last week. She was at the premiere of “An Inconvenient Truth” last night, and her nose still looks different than it did at the ALMA awards, but not dramatically so.

We checked out earlier pictures of Alba, and it seems like the lighting at the ALMA awards was particularly unflattering.

She could be using some alternate method to shrink her nose, as was mentioned in the article we sourced. If she did have work done, it was subtle. At this point we don’t think she had a nose job.

Here is Alba at the ALMA awards, and at premiere of “An Inconvenient Truth” in LA. “An Inconvenient Truth” is a documentary about global warming featuring president Al Gore:

Director Davis Guggenheim eloquently weaves the science of global warming with Mr. Gore’s personal history and lifelong commitment to reversing the effects of global climate change. A longtime advocate for the environment, Gore presents a wide array of facts and information in a thoughtful and compelling way. “Al Gore strips his presentations of politics, laying out the facts for the audience to draw their own conclusions in a charming, funny and engaging style, and by the end has everyone on the edge of their seats, gripped by his haunting message,” said Guggenheim. An Inconvenient Truth is not a story of despair but rather a rallying cry to protect the one earth we all share. “It is now clear that we face a deepening global climate crisis that requires us to act boldly, quickly, and wisely,” said Gore.

Alba is concerned about the environment and drives a hybrid Prius. You can do your part by walking and riding your bike whenever possible, replacing your lightbulbs with energy star efficient bulbs, and reusing plastic bags. Minor changes do make a difference.

Poseidon Premiere: Emmy Rossum, Josh Lucas, Salma Hayek & Fergie

“Poseidon,” a remake of the 1976 thriller “The Poseidon Adventure,” premiered last night in LA. It features Josh Lucas, Kurt Russell, Jacinda Barret, Richard Dreyfuss, and Emmy Rossum.

While ringing in the new year aboard the cruise ship Poseidon, a giant wave crashes into the ship and flips it upside down. A ragtag group of survivors realize their only chance is to make their way to the deepest bowels of the ship, now at the top, if they are going to have any chance of getting out.

It’s getting bad reviews, and from the looks of the trailer, below, it’s a bit too scary for our tastes.

Fergie of the Black Eyed Peas has a cameo in the film. She does not look pregnant in these pictures, but she does look plastic. She’s wearing black so it’s hard to see if she has a tummy buldge, though.

Here are Emmy Rossum, Josh Lucas, Kurt Russell, Mia Maestro, Salma Hayek, Fergie, Jacinda Barrett, Jerry Lewis, Kevin Dillon, Freddy Rodriguez, Emmy Rossum and Pamela Sue Martin at the premiere and after party.
