Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillipe’s marriage was one that I said to my husband I’d like ours to be like. This is because the kids seemed to come first, and the woman had more power in the relationship, and really nice clothes and shoes. I didn’t say this is the reality behind the scenes, it might be, but I just wanted our marriage to have all the good traits theirs appeared to have. For a while we wanted to be like Brad Pitt Jennifer Aniston, but that seemed like a bad idea around the time they got divorced.

Anyway, I was shocked when they got divorced. SHOCKED! But this week it seemed they might be getting back together.

Hollywood hunk RYAN PHILLIPPE has denied reports he is giving his marriage with REESE WITHERSPOON another try after the couple were spotted lunching together. The couple split last October (06) after six years of marriage and two children together. They are currently in the middle of divorce proceedings. Recent reports claimed the ex-couple had been seen jogging, shopping and lunching together in Brentwood, California, with an unnamed friend saying, “Reese and Ryan are trying to work it out. They are still close.” However, the Gosford Park actor’s representative tells the New York Post, “It’s not true.”

The same week the marriage reconciliation rumours came about, Rumours about her relationship with Jake Gyllenhaal also came out.

The pair, who are rumoured to have secretly dated after meeting on the set of their upcoming movie Rendition, are now said by friends to be back together again after splitting earlier this summer due to Witherspoon’s reported desire to spend more time with her children.

The Legally Blonde actress has two children, seven-year-old Ava and three-year-old Deacon, with estranged husband Ryan Phillippe.

Commenting on her reported romance with Gyllenhaal, an unnamed pal of the star told US Weekly magazine: “Reese came to terms with the fact that she can have a relationship and spend time with her kids.”

Reese and Jake have a movie coming out together in the next few months, so hopefully they’ll confirm or deny the romance when they do publicity for Rendition.

Reese Witherspoon is going to be the new global face of Avon. She is, according to their press release, going to be the brands first ever ‘Global Ambassador’.

Oh, she is so perfect to be an Avon Lady. I never really believed glamourpuss Salma Hayek used Avon products – even though there’s nothing wrong with them at all – but I could definitely see Reese Witherspoon using them. She’s such a mum. I wish she was my mum – I’d borrow her clothes!

Reese is also reportedly seeing Jake Gyllenhaal again/still, and has signed onto star in a movie with Vince Vaughan. It’s titled ‘Four Christmases’ and is a comedy about a couple trying to visit their four sets of divorced parents at Christmas. Obviously for the characters in the film, they weren’t interested in my solution to that problem – moving overseas away from the divorcees! Then again, that scenario is hardly open to hilarious incidents in a movie format.

Ryan Phillippe is not only a cheater…he’s a liar.

I believe that men who dump their wives and leave their kids are jerks. I am sure there are reasons. But most of the time there is one reason and her name is Tawny.

It really makes my WT blood boil when guys like this try to put on a “nice guy” front and act like victims. If you want to be a creep and abandon your responsibility, then just do it. But don’t come back after the fact and act like it was something out of your control.
Ryan Phillippe is trying to “spin” his version of his impending divorce by going on TV’s Extra this week.

In the interview with TV’s Extra, airing this week, Phillippe says, “This is the most difficult time in my life. It’s unfortunate when you have kids … but I signed up for this and have to deal with it. I don’t read the magazines or watch the shows. … It’s hard when people follow me to my kid’s school.”

Gag me. He probably doesn’t mention that he brought this on himself by cheating on his wife. I am going to be very interested to see his whining interview on the Extra.

It looks like he’s also been making the rounds of some of the magazines, he also talked to TEEN PEOPLE about this difficult life. Gag me with a chainsaw. What a great role model for teen girls! Marry a great guy like Ryan!

Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe put aside their differences to attend their daughter Ava’s school play, in which she played a cute kangaroo. People at the show said they didn’t really talk to each other, and came and left separately. At least they’re trying to do things as a family for their children’s sake.

We reported yesterday that Ryan was seen out in the company of a new brunette. Not many commentors like him, and he doesn’t seem to be of much interest without his Oscar-winning wife.

There was a rumor at the beginning of the month that Ryan wanted Reese back, but that either wasn’t true or he has been unsuccessful so far.

Metallic and white dresses were the trend at last night’s Golden Globes. Reese Witherspoon is a standout in a formfitting canary dress with a subtle braided belt and ruby red shoes. She looks incredible.

Hayek and Garner were lovely in white, while Miller looks ridiculous in a metallic and white too-tight dress. I never quite understood her appeal.

Witherspoon, Hayek, Garner, and Miller were all presenters at the Globes, which was said to be rather boring and long overall. I taped it, but didn’t watch it yet. It’s six hours later here than EST so I have an excuse. What did you guys think?

Ryan Philippe bought over $600 worth of lace camisoles and panties at an LA boutique and told a salesperson the items were for “someone special” most likely his latest girlfriend. He then headed to a children’s store and got a bunch of stuffed animals for his children.

Jessica Simpson’s flubbed performance at The Kennedy Center Honors for Dolly Parton on Sunday sounded worse the way it was described, but it still looks really uncomfortable to her. I’m Not Obsessed is reporting that she is said to have feared a waldrobe malfunction, and that may explain why her arm is right under her top and she’s staying in one place. She was said to have sung without projecting herself and to have rushed off after no one applauded for her, but you can clearly hear her and it seems like the audience claps afterwards. It’s hard to tell by the way the video was edited, though.

There’s this story that Reese Witherspoon was crying to Renee Zellwegger over her salad at Wolfgang Puck’s Beverly Hills restaurant. Bruce Willis also happened to be there and tried to cheer them up. He seems to have succeeded and Reese Renee left with him!

A downtrodden Reese Witherspoon turned to some big Hollywood shoulders, Renee Zellweger and Bruce Willis, for some solace last Friday night. A TMZ spy spotted Reese dining – or, rather, stabbing disaffectedly at a salad – at Wolfgang Puck’s latest celebriteria CUT in Beverly HIlls on Friday night.

Reese looked groggy and sad, says our eyes on the scene, and Renee patted her on the shoulders and consoled her, while trying to keep things as uplifting as possible. Then, Bruce ditched his dinner companions to come over and talk to the two southern belles for about 45 minutes. Even Wolfgang himself got in on the lovefest, sauntering over to gladhand the trio. Curiously, after the meal, Renee took the chance to catwalk her way through the middle of the restaurant with hips in full swing, and left, as our cameras observed, with Willis.

They left a restaurant together, not a bar or a club at 2:00 am, so it’s possible they just headed out for a drink and then went home separately. Given that it’s Reese not Britney, that’s the most likely outcome.

Reese was photographed with her children leaving church on Sunday, making it even more likely that her meeting with Willis was completely platonic.

Update: Thanks to commentor Iscatonic who points out that Renee left with Willis, not Reese. Ah well. Hopefully Renee got a little action that night.

Also, let me add some more to this story, because it’s pretty thin as it is. Life and Style reports in its latest issue that Reese’s estranged husband Ryan Phillippe had been cheating on her for a while with various women and that Reese put up with it for the sake of appearances and their children. When she found the poisoned Blackberry with messages to Abbie Cornish that was the last straw as Ryan seemed to want to get caught by so obviously dating his costar.

All of the latest divorcing celebrity couples share one commonality - they have toddler children. In fact none of the splitting couples are childless and all of them have children between the ages of one to four.

Whenever celebrities get divorced I am particularly interested in their children - how many they have and what ages and genders they are. It struck me that nearly all of the recently-divorcing celebrities have children that are going through toddlerhood and probably bugging the hell out of them. (Along with doing plenty of cute things to soften the blow of random tantrums, like saying new words you know you never taught them.)

I’m not saying that the innocent toddlers were the causes of these Hollywood breakups, children are never to blame for a divorce. It’s just an interesting coincidence. Here are the latest celebrity splits along with the stats on their children.

Chris Rock and Maleek Rock: double toddler trouble
Chris Rock was said to have filed divorce papers in early November of this year, but that turns out not to be true. TMZ reports that Chris and Maleek seem to be giving their relationship of ten years another try. They were photographed out at a charity dinner together last week and have not made their divorce official. They have two toddler daughters, Lola, 4, and Zahra, 2.


Kate Hudson and Chris Robinson: two year-old son
Chris Robinson has finally filed for divorce from Kate Hudson after this unlikely Hollywood couple announced their separation in mid August. They have a two year-old son, Ryder, who is such a handful that they don’t even dare cut his hair.

What recent celebrity divorce list would be complete without Britney and K-Fed? I almost didn’t include them, though, because Sean Preston turned one in September and only just entered toddlerhood. According to the Wiki, toddlers are between one to three, or maybe two to five, so little SP counts.

These breakups during their children’s toddlerhood may serve a biological purpose. Anthropologists have found that couples typically break up when their children are toddlers, with a peak in breakups after four years together. Having seen their children through the vulnerable baby stage, they are free to find another mate and reproduce again, which is our biological imperative.

The four-year pattern, as well as a tendency to divorce at the height of one’s reproductive years, also makes sense from a sociological point of view. “For instance,” Fisher says, “a prehistoric male who ‘divorced’ his partner after seeing one offspring through infancy would have had the opportunity to pick a younger ’spouse’ more capable of bearing and raising babies. A female might leave one mate to ‘marry’ a better provider for her and her forthcoming children.”

Notable recent celebrity divorces that did not involve toddlers include Nick Lachey and Jessica Simpson, Eminem and Kim Mathers, and Richie Sambora and Heather Locklear. Charlie Sheen and Denise Richards have two toddlers, though, and I didn’t include them since their split is old news.

Unlike Kate Hudson, who still hasn’t filed for divorce despite announcing her separation three months ago, Reese Witherspoon has not wasted any time making her split from Ryan Phillippe official, and has filed divorce papers citing “irreconcilable differences.”

Reese checked the box terminating Ryan’s right to spousal support, and has written in that she requests “Exclusive use of the family residence,” meaning Ryan has to get out of their mansion, or has already done so. She is seeking primary physical custody of their two children, Deacon, 3, and Ava, 7, but plans to grant visitation rights to Ryan.

Meanwhile Reese was spotted at a cafe in Austin, Texas - less than a mile and a half away from the Asian restaurant where her husband was busted making out with his costar Abbie Cornish a month ago. (I actually looked this up and would call it an exclusive, but it wasn’t that brilliant of a connection.)

What was Reese doing in Austin? Ryan and Abby Cornish are said to have cheated after hooking up on the set of their movie “Stop Loss,” which was filming there. A half-assed Google search yielded no connection between Reese and Austin, and she grew up in the city of Nashville. It’s possible that Reese had a business meeting there, but it seems more likely to me - and much more salacious to report - that she was trying to get to the bottom of her husband’s cheating. Who was the guy she was having lunch with? Was he an on-set spy? An industry insider giving Reese the dirt?

Reese is due to start filming the thriller “Rendition,” but filming is said to be taking place in LA, Washington DC, Morocco and Cape Town. Austin is not on the list.

Phillippe never denied that he cheated on Reese, and gave a statement to People that “I’m not a perfect person, but I’m not guilty of a lot of the things I have been accused of. My priority is and always has been the health and safety of my family.”

Us Weekly points out how much Ryan’s new maybe-girlfriend looks like Reese (composite image above), and cites a relationship expert who claims that men look for another version of their wife who is more appreciative of them and easily dominated.
