Lindsay Lohan checked out of rehab Friday afternoon with the help of her dad, who is also a recovering alcoholic. She was said to be spending five days with him at a remote location in Utah, where she has been in rehab since August, and was thought to be returning. Instead she packed her bags full of all the underwear she bought to seduce the new addicts and checked out. At least Richie Sambora doesn’t have to worry about Lohan sabotaging his chance at sobriety:

Lindsay Lohan has checked out of the exclusive Cirque Lodge Treatment Center in Utah, where she has been since August, multiple sources, including both of her parents, confirm to PEOPLE.

“She’s finished the program,” one source says. “Lindsay is done, but she may come back for outpatient treatment. She over-extended her stay because she wanted to. She could have been out awhile ago, but she chose to stay.”

Lohan’s mother, Dina, told PEOPLE Friday: “I’m proud of her. She’s moving ahead with her life. Things were getting out of control. She took action. She took responsibility. She really needed to heal.”

Lohan was photographed Friday afternoon with her father Michael, who carried her suitcases, leaving Cirque Lodge. “I will be there in her life as best I can but from here on she’s going to have a lot of decisions to make on her own,” Michael told PEOPLE Friday. “Now that she is going out into the world, I can only hope for the best.”

I wonder if Lindsay is going to take a page from Paris’ predictable handbook and start carrying around spiritual books, going to church, and dressing conservatively? You have to hand it to Paris, she worked that angle to death before she went to prison. There’s also the Britney route - continue to get high and drunk and go out to as many high profile places as you can manage, letting the world know that it’s your career and life to ruin.

If Lohan knows what’s best for her she’ll lay low, emerging only for trips to the bookstore, church, AA meetings and the occasional angel-themed knick knack store. She did stay in rehab for two months so maybe she realizes that she needs to change her image if she’s going to keep working. Whether she took it to heart or not is another issue, and from the stories that came out about her antics in rehab I would bet that she hasn’t changed her attitude.

Lohan will start filming the movie Dare to Love Me in LA on October 15th. She still has to serve a day in prison and 10 days community service and is on probation for 36 months. She has until January 18, 2008 to complete her community service and serve her jail sentence.

Lindsay Lohan has been at rehab in Cirque Lodge in Utah for about two months, and she’s not getting out any time in the foreseeable future. There was news that she might get released last weekend, but that didn’t happen, and last week’s tabloids had her in for 2-3 more months.

Lohan might be staying in rehab and sitting on her ass in meetings, but whether rehab is really sinking in for her remains to be seen. There’s a story in Star Magazine that not only did she test positive for cocaine recently, she’s combining prescription drugs to get high and has arranged for people to sneak vodka to her in water bottles while she’s attending AA meetings in the community. Oh and she predictably has a new boyfriend too.

Just like the scary tale of how Lohan hijacked a car and took two guys on a multi-car chase, telling them “I’m a celebrity, I can do whatever I want,” she is said to have told fellow patients in rehab that she’s above the requirements there, too:

Now, Star can exclusively reveal that the troubled actress has good reason for seeking extra help: An insider says she tested positive for cocaine! “She admitted that it wasn’t the first time she had done it while at Cirque,” an insider reveals. “No one can figure out who’s slipping it to her.”

Another source… claims Lindsay “gets a buzz” by combining the diet pill Fastin with the anti-anxiety drug Xanax. “I’ll think she’ll take whatever pills they allow her,” says the source. “It’s obvious to me she’s high, because she acts loopy and can’t seem to walk in a straight line!”

“She had a friend of hers sneak vodka in an Aquafina bottle into one of the AA meetings she goes to,” the insider says… “She smells like booze, and the staff does nothing about it. When they’re not around, she tells people she’ll drink as much as she damn well pleases.”

“She’s been sneaking out to Cirque’s North Lodge to hook up with a cute guy!” says the insider. “She seems to really like him…”

The insider adds that Cirque staffers have already put the duo on a strict “no contact” policy that forbids even a simple hello between them!

And the magazine quotes the insider as saying she asked Lohan if she intended to stay sober, and she just looked at her like she was crazy.

Lohan’s hard working spindoctor, Leslie Sloan Zelnick, says “this story is the result of haters and people not wanting Lindsay to succeed.”

Not that she didn’t say that it’s not true, just that people don’t want Lindsay to succeed. People seem to have good reason to hate on her.

Lohan is going to take a five day sabbatical from rehab to spend time with her dad in a remote lodge. He’ll probably try to proselytize to her and talk a bunch of meaningless platitudes about how she’s got to turn her life over, and when he’s done he’ll milk as much publicity out of it as he can, telling various media outlets that she’s doing so much better.

Lohan will not change until she gets an attitude readjustment, and that will take some major soul-searching or a life changing event. At least she’s stayed put in rehab for this long, but it’s doubtful that it’s doing much good for her when she so steadfastly refuses to change her behavior.

It turns out that Star Magazine and The National Enquirer were at least partially right about Lohan extending her rehab stay, because her mother is denying reports that she is set to be released back into the wild this weekend. We can all breathe a sigh of relief for Lohan and for ourselves. We have the gossip section of our brains already chock full with the unsettling minutiae of Britney’s everyday life, we don’t need to know every time Lohan takes a shit too:

Despite reports to the contrary, it appears Lindsay Lohan will not be leaving her Utah rehab facility this weekend.

When Access Hollywood’s Billy Bush e-mailed Lindsay’s mom, Dina, to find out if the reports of Lindsay coming home this weekend were accurate, Dina said that wasn’t the case.

“Not true staying in Utah,” Dina wrote to Billy.

Lindsay checked into the Cirque Lodge in early August, marking her third stint in rehab after previous visits to the Wonderland and Promises facilities in Los Angeles.

Dina, Lindsay’s siblings Cody and Ali and her father Michael have all paid visits to Lindsay since she began her stay.

And there’s a new advertising campaign by an addiction treatment facility that’s trying to capitalize on Lindsay Lohan’s well publicized drug treatment issues. The attention-grabbing ads feature big block letters saying “Don’t Die Lindsay!” and include information about a supposed medical treatment alternative to extended rehab stays. The Canterbury Institute offers outpatient treatment for addiction, and claims in the ads to provide “innovative medical approaches” that allow patients to be in and out with their drug problems licked in just a few days:

While the rest of the world is going in and out of rehab, Canterbury Institute is changing the rules of addiction treatment. We’re offering innovative medical approaches to drug and alcohol addiction. It’s outpatient and administered by an ASAM-certified physician. All you need is 3-5 days to get back on track.

Someone from the ad agency who created this campaign e-mailed me the press release that this ad would run in the NY post, including PDF files and images so I could run it on the site, not that I don’t appreciate that. I guess because they’re not using Lindsay’s last name they figure they can’t get sued, but I wouldn’t count on it. You know Dina is going to try and squeeze something out of them. Lohan is said to go around asking people she barely knows for $10k all the time, if someone is using her name in an ad she’s probably going to try and make them pony up something. It’s called a violation of the “right to privacy” if celebrities’ names or likenesses are used in ads without their consent. I’m not sure how the law applies if a celebrity’s last name is not mentioned, if they are known by both names like Lohan.

If this treatment really works I hope that the celebrities don’t catch on to it. That would mean no more extended breaks from news about their antics when they get sent away for months at a stretch. Then again, it can only save lives if less drunken starlets are on the road with hoards of paparazzi trailing after them. That’s more important than not having to read unrelenting trivial gossip about these girls for months on end. Of course it is.

Update: I missed this story that Steve-O from Jackass told Howard Stern that Lohan once stole a bag of cocaine from him. If he had anything else worthwhile she surely would have nabbed that too.

Despite reports that Lindsay Lohan was set to leave rehab on October 15, and could have been headed overseas to “study,” stories in both The National Enquirer and Star Magazine this week have her spending two to three more months in Cirque Lodge rehab in Utah. She’s said to be comfortable there and afraid to leave, and is even asking fellow patients there to come live with her in LA when they all get out.

After spending nearly two months at Cirque Lodge rehabilitation center in Sundance, Utah, Lindsay Lohan should be looking forward to going home. Instead, the troubled starlet is dreading her freedom, insiders close to her tell Star, so she’s extending her stay! Lindsay is reportedly planning to remain at Cirque for another two to three months.

“She’s worried about reentering the read world,” says one insider. “At Cirque, there are zero distractions, so it’s harder for her to get into trouble. On the other hand, Los Angeles brings out the worst in her. She gets caught up in the scene, gets high and the dark side comes out.”

Also, Lindsay, 21, has forged such strong bonds with other patients and staff at Cirque, it brings her to tears when she thinks about leaving them behind. So she’s hatched a plan: Lindsay has asked a few of her new, recovering friends to come and stay with her in L.A., says another source. “This is the first time sobriety has worked for her, she claims. It feels so precious and she doesn’t want to lose it. She’s really worried about the temptations out there.”

I wonder if one of the people Lohan wants to take home is the guy whose wife is divorcing him over her. British heiress Stephanie Allen, 28, is divorcing her 39 year-old lousy musician addict husband, Tony Allen, and cites his “conduct and relationship with another woman” presumed to be Lindsay, in divorce papers. She uses gossip magazines as exhibits proving his affair.

Meanwhile Lohan was spotted out buying new underwear outside of rehab. Tony is out now, so she’s probably preparing for the next batch of addicts. Maybe that’s why she doesn’t want to get out, she’s eagerly anticipating her next captive victim. Hey, at least we’ll have more of a break from her than anticipated.

Lindsay Lohan has been accused of sleeping with a crappy married rock singer in rehab. The 39 year-old guy has eight month-old twins at home with a British wife whose family is worth well over a billion dollars. All he had to do to be set for the rest of his life was stay sober and remain faithful to his wife, but it sounds like he managed to fail on both counts.

His wife kicked him out of their Savannah, GA mansion after learning of his infidelity with Lohan. While the guy publicly denies that it happened, saying “we’re just friends, please check out my new album,” he was supposedly overheard bragging about his conquest at a local bar after he got out:

Stephanie Allen, 29, whose family is worth £720million, is devastated by allegations that musician Tony had sex with actress Lindsay, 21, in a toilet at the drugs clinic.

And she has reportedly booted out Dead Stays Alive frontman Tony, 39, with whom she has eight-month-old twins Blake and Lakeland.

A friend said: “She’s has had it, period. They tried forever to have kids. She went through IVF three times and suffered two miscarriages, and when they finally got two beautiful babies, he hooks up in rehab with a girl half his age.”

Tony denies the claims and says he just hit it off with Lindsay when they were being treated at the Circus Lodge clinic in Utah.

He said: “We’re great friends. We share a common affliction, and we just talk about life sometimes.”

But reports say that when mates in a bar quizzed him about it, he boasted: “C’mon, it’s Lindsay Lohan. Hell, yes! Wouldn’t you?”

The couple’s £850,000 house in Savannah, Georgia, is now up for sale.

Stephanie’s friend said: “He is trying to live out this rock star fantasy at 40. All Stephanie wanted was for him to be a good husband and father.”

I really hope that woman had a prenup and that she’ll leave the asshole without much scratch to get by. Like Britney’s supposed rocker rehab hookup, this guy is probably banking on the notoriety from Lohan to give a boost to his band. They’re awful, though. If you listen to the crap on their myspace they sound like a glam band that couldn’t have even made it in ‘89.

Idolator points out that the band put out a press release noting that their lead singer was friends with Lohan in rehab. And Idolator doesn’t mince words when it comes to assessing their talent:

Lindsay has been in Cirque Lodge in Utah since August 5 and is rumored to be getting out on October 15. I hope she stays in there though. I’ve really been enjoying the break from news about her. She’s stayed relatively scandal free too. So far she’s only broken up one marriage and left two babies to be raised without a father.

LiLo’s media-whore dad, Michael Lohan, has given an interview with News Of The World saying that Lindsay is planning on quitting Hollywood, quitting bad boy boyfriend Calum Best, and finding a healthier way to deal with emotional pain.

“Lindsay said, ‘Daddy, I have done some terrible things and been addicted to drugs but please believe me I will never do drugs again.

“She said she does not want to live in Hollywood as that is where this evil in her life happens.

“She said, ‘I hate Hollywood and I don’t want to work there. I need a break and I am moving away’.”

Vowing to steer clear of sex and drug addict Calum, Lindsay added: “I will stop hanging round with people who are bad for me’.”

Michael revealed: “Lindsay said since me and her mum had split her life had just not been the same. My heart ached and I was racked with guilt when she said, ‘I just wanted my Mummy and Daddy back’.

“She was about 17 when she started to turn to drugs and for the past four years Lindsay has become more and more reliant on them.

“She said the pain of our separation led her to do drugs and alcohol because she just wanted to numb the pain and drown her sorrows.”

“You only have to look at the poor state Britney Spears is in at the moment to know living in Hollywood is not good for these young girls.

“Lindsay and I both pray Britney can turn her life around too. For Lindsay the only way to do that is to take a break. So after she has honoured her existing film commitments that will be it. She just wants to stop making movies for the time being and be near her family.”

They pray for Britney do they? Even in his prayers Michael Lohan can’t stop name-dropping to Our Lord.

The News Of the World also call Lindsay ‘the Mean Girls star’ and at first thought I was like “Hey, surely she’s done more than that?” But there’s nothing really notable. It’s amazing – at only 21 Lindsay needs to leave Hollywood in order to make a comeback. Looking at this timeline she’s been doing a lot more time in the papers than in the local cinemas. A major film studio head said earlier this year that ”She had the world at her feet, and right now, she’d have to pay a studio to get herself into a movie.”

The visit with Lindsay in rehab that Michael is referring to is the one where x17 got exclusive pictures, which I’m guessing were part of a deal and not just lucky on x17’s part. I guess Lindsay got the cash from the pictures, so her dad is selling the story of the reunion.

Praise Jeebus, one of the many lawsuits against Lindsay Lohan is going forward! This one is over the October 2005 crash in which Lohan hit a van that was making an illegal u-turn. Lohan was looking behind and over her shoulder at the time, but it was still ruled to be the van driver’s fault, since he was making an illegal turn. He’s sued Lohan for upwards of $200,000, and his lawyer has alleged that Lohan was drunk at the time of the crash. The lawyer’s logic is essentially that Lohan is drunk a lot, so she was likely drunk then. I’m not oversimplifying too much, that’s pretty much what the guy is saying, just in legalese. It didn’t seem like there was a good chance that the lawsuit would proceed to trial, given that it’s hard to prove Lohan was drunk at that specific time. Yeah we all know the burden of proof is much lower in a civil trial, but there’s still no evidence that Lohan had been drinking. She had just left the Ivy, and there are no witnesses that she drank during lunch there, and the California Highway Patrol said alcohol was not a factor in the crash. Still, Lindsay is a reckless person in general, both with her own body and with others. It seems likely that her own negligence had something to do with the crash – yeah the guy shouldn’t have been making an illegal u-turn, but Lohan shouldn’t have been driving forwards while looking backwards.

A lot of “accidents” have happened to Lindsay in the last couple years. Enough that it starts to look suspicious even before the DUIs and rehab and all that. Here’s a little timeline I put together of Lindsay’s last three years from Wikipedia, Hollywood.com, People, and Yahoo. Let’s recap, shall we?

Car Chase - July 24. Commandeers white GMC and chases former assistant’s mother through Santa Monica. Fails field sobriety tests. Blood alcohol level tested at between 0.12 and 0.13 percent. Small amount of cocaine found in pocket of pants.

Arrest – July 24th. Arrested on felony charges of possession of cocaine, transportation of a narcotic, and misdemeanor DUI and driving with a suspended license.

Rehab – August. Checks into Cirque Lodge.

So that’s nine car crashes in three years. Three trips to rehab in less than one year. Nine trips to the hospital, all under rather dubious circumstances. At some point you realize she’s either the unluckiest girl in the world, or she has a lot to do with all these things that “happen” to her. It’s more that she’s happening to them. She’s not just some girl who accidentally has 9 trips to the hospital. Unless she has a serious and chronic disease we don’t know about, nine trips in three years is not normal. I’m guessing Lohan has probably been drunk since about 1995 onwards, and all the falling down the stairs, heat exhaustion, and broken teacups attacking her are the logical result of all the drunkenness.

On the upside, it appears that Lohan’s community service for said drunk driving, cocaine, and chasing people will include a few little activities we didn’t know about. According to MSNBC, Lohan “must complete a three-day county coroner program in which she’ll visit a morgue and talk to victims of drunken drivers.” I doubt the victims of drunken drivers will impact Lohan in the least, because that’s about other people. But maybe the morgue will give her a better idea of what’ll happen to her if she doesn’t shape up, and let’s face it, it’s all about Lindsay.

The classiness that is Fergie thinks we should go easy on Britney and Lindsay. She says they need time alone to deal with their issues and get better – and that’s completely true. But they’re not doing that. Well I guess Lindsay is a little bit, only because she’s at the point where it’s rehab far away or jail. Though she’s still been out and about, supposedly even stopping by a convenience store to buy beer while in rehab. Britney has been out partying pretty much every night for the last year or so. It’s ridiculous. If they want some privacy and to get better, stay home! Go to rehab! The problem with Britney is she’s given no indication that she wants to get better or that she even realizes anything is wrong with her or her life. So it’s good advice in theory, but the change has to start with the famous person, not with the general public for watching the famous person.

“Fergie – no stranger to tabloid attention – says she can relate to what Britney Spears and Lindsay Lohan are going through. And what the 20-something stars need, says the 32-year-old Black Eye Peas singer, is some breathing room so they can help themselves. ‘They’re young,’ Fergie (real name: Stacy Ferguson) said at a Fashion Rocks event in New York. ‘I was young when I went through my stuff. Leave them alone. If they want to get better, they’re going to get better on their own.’

Spears, 25, has returned to Los Angeles to rejoin her sons, Jayden, Sean Preston, who are respectively turning 1 and 2 this week, after a disappointing comeback performance Sunday at the MTV Video Music Awards in Las Vegas. Earlier this year, she spent a month in rehab. Lohan, 21, is in her third rehab program, this one in Utah, following her DUI arrest last month, for which she was sentenced to a day in jail. In a statement, she said she was addicted to alcohol and drugs and had relapsed.

Fergie, whose own time in rehab was for a crystal meth addiction, says that Spears and Lohan should ignore the media attention and focus on their problems. ‘If somebody is going to change, they have to want to do it themselves,’ she says. ‘I think it is really unfair to them when they are trying to get help. We’re all watching as a nation and commenting day by day on their rehabilitation. It’s not fair. You’re supposed to have a sanctuary, a place where you can go and not be pressured every day.’”

If Britney and Lindsay want sanctuary, they need to go find one. It’s not everyone else’s job to make one for them. I don’t give her credit for much, but at least Lindsay Lohan has been laying low in rehab. She’s gone out a bit, but nothing like before, and she (or one of her handlers) was smart enough to go to a rehab away from Hollywood. These girls have major problems, and neither of them seem to really understand that. They don’t like the consequences – jail, bad headlines, crappy performances – but don’t seem to realize that in order to get those things to stop, they have to stop. Go somewhere far away and get your head and your life together. Most people can’t afford to do that, but both Lindsay and Britney are uniquely lucky that they can. Take advantage.

After three years and countless public letters begging his daughter to turn her life over to the Lord and give him a chance, Michael Lohan has finally visited his daughter Lindsay. After talking a lot of public smack about Lindsay’s mom and her boyfriend, ex-con Michael was given a chance at a supervised visit with his troubled daughter. He was seen yesterday at the Utah rehab where she is receiving treatment for a drug addiction exacerbated by an overinflated sense of self importance:

Lindsay’s dad flew to Utah last night and is currently visiting Lindsay at the Cirque Lodge treatment center, sources close to Lindsay and Michael confirmed to Access Hollywood.

Michael, who served nearly two years in New York State Prison for driving while intoxicated and other charges, has publicly yearned to reunite with Lindsay since his release in March. She has not seen her father since before he went to prison, sources told Access.

Lindsay checked into Cirque Lodge on August 3.

She has been visited by mom Dina and her siblings Cody and Ali, but this marks the first visit from her father.

X17 has the pics of the awkward reunion, and says that Michael went to therapy with Lindsay once inside the Cirque Rehab Center where she is staying.

Never one to pass up an opportunity to give a statement proving what an arrogant person and shit mom she is, Dina Lohan has told 24/Sizzler that she condones the visit from Lindsay’s father. She predictably aims a few barbs at Michael, saying the visit will help Lindsay “come to terms with [her Dad's] abusive behavior”

“I’m so glad he’s visiting her,” Dina told 24Sizzler.com, at the precise moment Michael was visiting Lindsay (Michael is outfitted with a tracking device so he doesn’t violate his parole). “I really wanted her to have closure a really long time ago, so she could come to terms with the abusive behavior that myself and my children [Lindsay, Michael Jr., Dakota and Ali] endured when they were younger.”

Dina adds that Lindsay, who hasn’t seen her dad in several years, was “extremely nervous” about seeing Michael.

Lohan’s mom also denies that her daughter had a romance in rehab, saying “That never happened. Cirque is so strict compared to everywhere else.”

And in case you were grateful for the relative lack of Lohan news, she is set to get out of rehab in ten days. I’m sure she’ll be a totally changed woman and wait at least a week before she’s out at the clubs again, right?

This visit wasn’t about Lindsay’s mental health or a chance to reunite with her father, it was about keeping the Lohans in the press this week, and it worked. I wonder how much Lohan charged X17 for those exclusive reunion pics? At least they look authentic because they’re far away and sort of blurry.

In 2005, Lindsay Lohan is said to have shocked her accountants by running up a million dollar bill at the Chateau Marmont hotel where she was staying. (And ultimately got kicked out of for her rampant partying.) Despite getting comped a lot of clothes, shoes, and purses, and stealing tens of thousands worth of clothing from her friends, she also spent $1 million shopping for crap she probably only wore once that same year.

It’s no surprise, then, that the woman who blew all her cash on clothes and drugs is now begging acquaintances for money. Lohan is said to ask just about everyone to give her $10k.

Lohan’s mom Dina has cut her off from her money after her latest DUI, but I bet she’s squandered most of her earnings on frivolous things anyway.

Lindsay, 21, resorted to begging, the sources, say, because her manager mom, Dina, has temporarily cut her off from what’s left of the fortune she made starring in hit films like Mean Girls and Freaky Friday.

“Dina must think Lohan is a serious addict, and she’s afraid if she gives her even $20, she’ll run out and buy drugs and booze,” says an insider close tot he family…

“Lindsay wants money - what she calls ‘cake’ - now,” says a source. She’s even asked guys she’s only met two or three times to hand over $10,000. That’s what she always asks for: 10K.”

Among the celebs Lindsay’s tried to hit up are 50 Cent and Music producer Damon Dash, the source reveals.

She’s also turned to former flames Steve-O, That 70’s Show’s Wilmer Valderamma and British Model Calum Best. She keeps getting turned down, but one music industry insider confesses that he did fall victim to her charms.

“When Lindsay asked me, after her second arrest, I kind of laughed because she’s a big movie star, right? Why does she need money from me?” the industry insider asks. “She explained her money was ‘tied up.’ She wasn’t even nice about it. She said ‘I’m good for it, I’ll make a huge comeback. I am, after all, the most famous person on the planet right now!’”

Steve-O? I saw was was supposed to be that guy’s apartment on Cribs once and it’s doubtful he has that kind of cash. Either that or he’s saving it all and just enjoys living like a college student.

It sounds like typical Lindsay to say “I’m the most famous person on the planet.” People aren’t even that interested in her anymore, she’s fading fast. If she can’t get money from random acquaintances, she still has one means to make a quick buck. She’s said to be arranging photo opportunities from rehab. Once the veneer on her fame has completely rubbed off she’ll be standing on street corners clutching a Voss water bottle, talking about how famous she is in that old lady voice of hers and screaming about how the world is just waiting for her. I’d give her a dollar.
