In yet another edition from the Moss and Doherty Handbasket to Hell Review: new footage of Pete Doherty shooting up hit the newsstands and web today. Stills and video allegedly show this latest sobriety stumble two days after their much denied and confirmed “commitment ceremony” in Thailand. Grim, grainy and gruesome indeed - is this the world’s shortest or just messiest honeymoon period?

According to reports, Doherty, 27, had left the exclusive resort where they were staying to seek out drugs.

He was recognised by an Australian fan who invited him back to her room with her and two female friends.

Once there, Doherty was filmed injecting himself on a bed strewn with drugs paraphernalia and cash.

He can also be seen talking to someone - possibly Moss - on a mobile phone while he gets high.

With fans like that who needs enemies, pushers or pincushions? Not that poor Pete seems to need much help in lurching from ill considered lapse to ill considered lapse. He’s a pasty faced, sad baby with tragic-end writ large across his shaggy bangs. When it comes to addiction he seems to give as good as he gets: Kate certainly cannot get enough or tear herself away from his dying spaniel charms.

Last night a source close to the model said: “Kate is understandably livid about these pictures. That they were taken just two days after their special commitment ceremony simply adds insult to injury.

“Of course Kate still loves Pete and vice-versa but she’s a clever woman and knows that she has got to put her career first. Kate needs to start looking after herself - or at least be seen to be doing so - and has been strongly advised to take some time off from Pete.

“This means not getting herself photographed with him and certainly no raucous nights out - at least until the fuss has all died down a bit.”

Surely one of the key things about merely ‘pretending to tidy up your act’ temporarily so you don’t get a nasty smack from the world is that you gotta keep it to yourself. If everyone knows its a lie … you are very likely to be confronted on the ol’ blatant falsehood. Unless you are Dick Cheney.

The kind of rebel chic that was the subtext of Moss’ short fall and celebrated return to advertisers’ graces last year was all about “edge.” She was still edgy … she was newly edgy … she was so Edgy if anyone still cared about U2 she could whack on a little wool cap and play arena rock with them.

This very fashiony reading of scandal is unlikely to survive ongoing tales of Kate Moss a Mess - Pete Doherty Pincushion — no end in sight to continuing downward spiral. The edge and glamour seem to be fading from the coverage and both are showing up looking rather bruised, scabby and dehydrated. Sid and Nancy is a fine film … but as a lifestyle it’s not very Burberry or Vogue.

Greece is often hailed as the font of Western Civilization and Paris Hilton is universally acknowledged as the leading symptom of that self same WCs decline and rapid fall.

Luckily for Greece Stavros Niarchos’ family is taking one for the home team …and “>have threatened to disinherit the Greek shipping heir if he starts up with that hussy Paris again. It would be nice if thy would take an equally strong line about his George of the Jungle haircut – or early WHAM! colored highlights, but when your offspring are this tasteless … it’s all about baby steps.

The two were seen making out at the Trump Vodka launch in L.A, but were careful not to be photographed together so as to upset his family.

As to why the Hilton hotel heiress and Niarchos were so careful, well it seems that his family is not ready to welcome Paris into the fold.

An insider revealed that Stavros’ family has also threatened to cut him off from the fortune he is to inherit if he doesn’t stop hanging around with Paris and her posse.

“Word is that Stravros’ family has threatened to cut him off if he doesn’t stop going around with that crowd,”

Fearful tremors have been running through the House of Niarchos since Paris revealed in People magazine the she and the Stav infection “hooked up” again last summer in San Tropez. Apparently People Magazine is not the contemporary version of The Social Register or Debretts that Hilton mistook it for.

The Family N. had only just recovered from his first bout of Paris dating and were congratulating themselves on a close escape. Clearly sterner measures are now called for … they are betting that cashless Stav may just not have the same pulling power with the ladies … although that’s no lady … that’s Paris Hilton.

Robin Williams has been out of rehab for three months, and is trying to get back in his wife’s good graces. She hasn’t allowed him to move back into their mansion, but he can take her out on dates. He seems to be working hard to try to prove that he’s serious about staying sober and being there for his family:

The Enquirer has learned the Oscar-winning actor’s wife Marsha has not alllowed him to move back into their northern California home, but has permitted him to “date” her again!

“Robin wants more than anything to move back home and live with his family, but his wife is still taking it slowly,” says the source. “He’s telling pals that he’s slowly attempting to rebuild their relationship.”

But it’s a difficult situation because the 55 year-old actor is leiving in Los Angeles, while Marsha is at the couple’s Napa Valley residence with their two teenaged children.

“They see each other when his schedule permits,” said the source, “but it’s been lonely and difficult for him.”

Robin Williams poked fun at his stay in rehab in his typical ADD style at the People’s Choice Awards, where he won the award for “Funny Male Star.” He brought his 17 year-old daughter, Zelda, to the event.

Robin’s wife Marsha was the nanny of his first child, Zachary, 23, with his ex wife Valerie Velardi. Marsha and Robin have daughter Zelda and son Cody, 14. Thanks to JustJared for Robin’s family background.

That’s sweet that he’s trying to work for his wife’s trust and affection, and hopefully it will work out for them.

Now that I’m in the states for a short while after the holidays, I’ve been reading all the gossip rags. There’s a story in the latest National Enquirer (which I realize most people don’t take seriously, but I still thoroughly enjoy) that Julia Roberts’ marriage is suffering because her career has been going down the tubes.

They clearly ran this story, which I’m not really putting a lot of faith in, before the news came out that Julia is pregnant again. She may be having trouble in her marriage, but it also might be hormonally-influenced or fabricated by The Enquirer or whatever.

Here’s what they’re saying:

According to insiders, Julia’s been subjecting Danny to long-winded rants about her fears [about her waning career], but when he tells her not to worry, she flips out.

“Julia screams: ‘You think this is no big deal? This is my career we’re talking about! It’s a very big deal… at least to me, it is!’” said the source.

Julia’s seething because she feels she supported Danny’s career ambitions while she raised the kids, says the source. And now that she’s ready to get back to work, the insider says she doesn’t feel Danny’s being as supportive as he should be.

Since Hollywood is not knocking down her door with big film offers like when she was younger, Julia’s been developing her own projects through her Red Om Films, which is being run by Danny’s brother-in-law, producer Phile Rose.

“Julia’s had to learn the hard way that in Hollywood, out of sight is out of mind,” said the source.

However, insiders point out that Julia isn’t helping herself or her career by donning the bizarre bag lady look she sported at the recent premiere for the kid flick “Charlotte’s Web.”

Commentors on the always-heated threads about whether Angelina Jolie is a husband-stealer note that Julia Roberts should be the subject of people’s ire, too, since she broke up Danny Moder’s marriage. Reader frewtloop points out that Julia Roberts once wore a hand-scrawled T-Shirt with the words “A Low Vera” on it, which was a stupid play on words referencing Moder’s estranged wife, Vera. Julia was reportedly pissed off that Moder’s wife wasn’t jumping to sign divorce papers that would have freed him up to marry Julia in early 2002. They were married in July, 2002.

It seems like Angelina is a much easier target for jilted wives since she’s so much more in the spotlight. According to this article, that must really piss off fellow husband-stealer Julia.

All this to-do about Julia’s career affecting her marriage doesn’t seem as likely now that the news is out that she’s expecting her third child, due this summer.

These look like the kind of posed bikini candids we’ve been seeing so many of lately. Keira Knightley and her boyfriend, Rupert Friend, played in the ocean in Hawaii and look like they’re having great fun on an overcast day. Keira’s boyfriend is poised on the ledge between buff and too skinny and manages not to look emaciated while poor Keira needs to gain ten pounds. (And get her eyebrows done as usual. Maybe that look helps her land those arty historical movie roles because the women back then had bushy eyebrows too.)

At first I was like “Why does Keira need to pose for happy couple bikini candids?” but then I found an article in The Mirror about how she’s supposedly having trouble in her relationship with her live in boyfriend. These pictures are coming out right after that story and scream “look, we’re fine!”

Keith Urban was on vacation from rehab when he joined his new bride Nicole Kidman in their native Australia for Christmas. Everyone thinks they’re going to be the next celebrity couple to call it quits since their brief marriage has met multiple challenges from accusations of infidelity to Keith’s very public alcohol addiction. Now Keith is back in treatment and it’s unknown when he’ll be released. His publicist says this is to be expected while someone is in recovery:

His publicist, Paul Freundlich, told the Associated Press of Keith’s Christmas vacation: “This is a natural occurrence at this point in his treatment.

“He will continue with his rehab upon his return.”

The Mirror is reporting that pop star Robbie Williams has urged Nicole to stand by Keith in his time of need, but I’m not really sure that’s true.

News came out right around Christmas that a 23 year-old “model” claimed to have been dating Urban up until a month before he married Nicole. A picture was published of her posing with Urban, who she claims was drunk or on drugs throughout their entire two year relationship. People say that the picture isn’t recent and calls the woman’s story into question as it shows Urban with a tattoo on his wrist that he had altered in 2005.

Newlyweds Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban were reunited after a two month separation and spent Christmas in their native Australia. Keith flew into Sydney after having completed treatment for an alcohol addiction in an inpatient rehabilitation program.

The country music star flew Down Under on Tuesday to be reunited with his wife of six months. It is the first time the couple have been back in Sydney together since their romantic June wedding and will no doubt bring back happy memories for them both. The pair, who are based in Nashville, were spotted holding hands as they left a film studio in the city before being driven away in a blacked-out car.

It is believed Keith, 39, has now completed addiction treatment in the US after a drinking relapse prompted him to seek help. Nicole has been in Sydney spending time with her family and enjoying outings to the theatre in the run-up to Christmas as well as working on her new film Australia with co-star Hugh Jackman and renowned director Baz Luhrman.

Keith and Nicole’s reunion was undoubtedly marred by the news that a woman claiming to be Keith’s longterm lover recently spoke to a British newspaper. A 23 year-old “model” says that she had a relationship with Keith from 2002 until May, 2004 - just a month before Keith and Nicole were married. She claims that Keith was constantly drunk or on drugs during their time together.

Commentors here note that it doesn’t seem right that this woman is speaking out at this point, and that she must be doing it for the money. Commentor Patty says it has come out that she was paid for the story, has an agent, and didn’t actually give all the quotes that were attributed to her. I think that the story was told to the Daily Mail for a fee, and that they made up the quotes. (If Patty could comment with a link to where she read that news I would appreciate it.)

It does seem kind of cruel for this woman to be speaking out now. As I mentioned yesterday, I think she’s trying to get revenge for the fact that Keith ditched her again after their brief makeup session in October, and is trying to cash in while she can.

This doesn’t bode well for Nicole and Keith’s relationship if it’s true, of course, but given Nicole’s history and determination, it seems like she’ll try to make it work for as long as she can.

Christina Aguilera seems to be giving quotes that may come back to bite her in the ass if her relationship hits a rough patch or breaks up. She must not read all the relationship quotes by Kate Hudson and Reese Witherspoon that were dragged out once their marriages failed.

She states that obvious by saying that marriage is “hard” and that the first year was difficult. She must be trying to commiserate with Britney in her own haughty “I’m better than you” way, but it seems rather foolish of her to open up her relationship to speculation.

Whereas most celebs will always tell you that everything is rosy in their gardens, Xtina has admitted that her marriage isn’t perfect.

She wed executive JORDAN BRATMAN last November and admitted: “I think it is hard.

“You are surprised and disappointed by certain things in your first year.

“I think the biggest misconception is that everything is going to be perfect and nothing will go wrong.”

However, the Dirrty singer insists she won’t be following in the footsteps of rival pop princess BRITNEY SPEARS and filing for divorce.

She added: “We have a strong bond. I’m prepared to grow old with this man. We look forward to the ups and downs.”

To prove her love for Jordan, Christina has dedicated new album track Save Me From Myself to him.

She said: “He’s helped me heal a lot. The song really just means having that one person in your life who’s able to pick you up and pull you out when you get in those dark spaces in yourself and are dwelling on the negative.

“They get you to look at all the bright and beautiful things around you.”

What she’s saying is true, but how wise is it of her to admit that there is trouble in her relationship? Shouldn’t she blow it off if asked, maybe say there are problems like in everyone else’s marriage but that love will carry you through or something?

I bet in another 6-8 months her marriage will be the next one to fall apart. Good guys are rare, but love and gratitude only go so far when you’re shaking your ass in front of thousands of people and have most of the world’s resources at your disposal.

Keith Urban was partying up a storm in Nashville while Nicole was off filming in Europe. Friends told Nicole that Keith was drinking again and she told him to go to rehab or she was divorcing his ass:

And with his wife away working Keith, 39, started to hit Nashville’s bar scene again.

Kidman was tipped off by friends that Keith was out drinking, and called to confront him.

“Nicole called Keith and confronted him,” an insider told Life & Style magazine.

“He got defensive and accused her of spying on him.”

But Urban eventually admitted his drinking to Kidman, and she flew straight back to the US to be by his side.

“She gave him a choice. He could enter a program or she’d leave him,” a friend of Kidman’s said.

“He chose the former. Keith can’t stand the thought of life without Nicole.

“That’s his motivation to kick this thing for good.”

And the pal says that Keith’s problems have had a massive impact on their marriage.

“She’s an emotional wreck,” the friend said.

“She would never say it to Keith, but she’s telling her family and close friends that her marriage is hanging by the thread.

“She says she wants to help Keith conquer his demons so the two of them can move on with their lives.”

Nicole is said to have turned to her father, psychologist Dr. Anthony Kidman, for help and advice during this difficult time.

Lainey’s Gossip speculates in her offhand way that Nicole is deciding whether it would be better for her image to dump Keith or stay with him at this point. They have an unstable relationship that is unlikely to withstand this latest pressure.

Lainey also says that Nicole has not visited Keith in rehab and that she did not accompany him there. Nicole has also reportedly been interviewing nannies, which leads some to think that she may be preparing to jump on the celebrity adoption bandwagon.

She could be pregnant or be preparing to be - she has been seeking fertility treatment as we reported yesterday.

I am trying so hard to gossip today, but I am all stuffy, dizzy and out of it. If I had a real job I would have called in sick.

Ryan Phillipe says that he likes to spend time away from his wife of seven years, Reese Witherspoon, because she nags the shit out of him, but that he loves and misses his children dearly. At least that’s what I read between the lines of his recent interview:

Flags of Our Fathers star Ryan Phillippe hasn’t worked with wife Reese Witherspoon since 1999’s Cruel Intentions (they met on set), but, he says, it’s better that way.

“Sometimes I think it’s a little cleaner to, at least at this stage in our lives, keep that stuff separate,” he tells Interview magazine in its new issue. “I’d never write anything off completely, but I just feel like there’s something to be said for the individuality and mystery of doing things on your own.”

Phillippe, 32, says he’ll never get used to working away from Witherspoon and their kids Ava, 7, and Deacon, 3. “That’s a difficulty that I don’t know if I will ever totally come to terms with. But I think I commit sometimes even further to a role because it leaves me less time to think about those things that make me feel sad, like not being around my children.”

Immersing himself in his role, he says, serves as “a shield or a protective blanket that keeps me from having to deal with the reality. If I can’t see my kids, and I’m in another time zone, I really have to live and eat and breathe the work around the clock, because that keeps me sane.”

Asked if he distances himself from Witherspoon when they talk on the phone, he says, “At times, yes. But because she does the same work, she completely understands.”

The couple makes sure that if one parent is making a movie, the other will remain at home with the kids. “That’s one of the ways we keep the balance,” Phillippe says.

But, he admits, “There are obstacles in every family. … It’s never going to be perfect – you just try to do the best you can and to create a life that is positive and full for them.”

Of course he’s being quite reserved and is probably following Reese’s lead of revealing just enough information that it’s interesting, but not particularly telling. That seems to be the best way to conduct yourself when you’re a celebrity. Reese must have laid into him after he admitted to Rolling Stone that his life’s dream is to smoke pot and lay on the beach all day. That’s a far cry from the loving, thoughtful father he comes off as here. Those Rolling Stone journalists must make celebrities feel like they want to party.

Reese and Ryan were said to be having trouble at the premiere of Flags of our Fathers, because a paparrazo overheard them arguing and they looked kind of pissed off at each other in photos taken at the time.
