Renee Zellweger says she’ll deny dating Clooney until the day she dies

Renee Zellweger has a new interview in this week’s issue of In Touch, and she covers a lot of the same ground as in other recent interviews, in which she talks about giving up her home because she was never there. She also said she’s not ready to become a mom and that it wouldn’t be something she would be comfortable with now given her nomadic life. As for her co-star in her current movie Leatherheads, George Clooney, she says that not only has she never dated him but that she will deny dating him until the day she dies.

Did your on-screen chemistry with George Clooney, who directed you in Leatherheads, surprise you?
Completely, because I can’t bear him in real life. It was torture working with him.

Didn’t you used to date George?

I will deny that to the day I die. Don’t try to connect me with that hack! But seriously, I think George was asked if he liked me and he said “A little bit.” We’re actually old friends.

[From In Touch, print edition, April 21, 2008]

Renee says that as for working with George, “I didn’t want to disappoint him. His opinion really matters to me.”

Renee loves it when people are mean to her

And she still has a tough time dealing with fame. The interviewer asked Renee what the worst thing about being famous was, and she said that people aren’t real with her and she loves it when service people are rude to her when they don’t know who she it.

It’s hard to have real conversations. I love it when the stewardess is just nasty and I shrink when she comes back to apologize because she didn’t realize who I am. I know it sounds crazy, but I cherish it when somebody’s mean!

[From In Touch, print edition, April 21, 2008]

As far as Clooney saying “a little bit,” he was questioned about a list of actresses he supposedly dated, and he rattled off answers to each one, answering “a little bit” when Renee’s name came up. He has also denied dating her since he gave that answer, and said that he was just joking and that his answer got him in trouble with Renee.

Renee Zellweger and George Clooney are shown at the French premiere of Leatherheads on 4/11/08, thanks to Splash News.

Sarah Larson does charity fashion show while George Clooney is away

George Clooney is overseas promoting his football comedy Leatherheads, along with his co-star Renee Zellweger. Clooney and Renee attended the London premiere of the film on Tuesday, and posed for a photocall in Rome yesterday. When asked where his girlfriend Sarah Larson was, Clooney said that she was back in LA. Larson attended the Los Angeles premiere of the film on Clooney’s arm on March 31.

One of Larson’s obligations back in the states was a charity fashion show luncheon at the Four Seasons Hotel in Las Vegas yesterday. She modeled two striking Pucci gowns at the Clark County, Nevada Medical Society Alliance Silent Auction and Fashion Show. She may have been a recent addition to the charity event, because a press release put out a month ago makes no mention of her, and she is not listed on the event page of the organization’s website.

Clooney is said to have vigorously defended his girlfriend against an unknown prankster calling his voicemail and telling him to dump Larson. Someone called him saying “Dude, your friends asked me to give you a message: Dump the bitch before you’re sorry!” Larson told the New Yorker in an upcoming story about the call that she’s not a stripper or an escort and that her bad reputation is not deserved. Clooney tried to figure out who made the call and had the number traced. It led to a pre-paid phone cellphone that could not be linked to an owner.

As to how a cocktail waitress and former Fear Factor winner can get a charity event worldwide coverage, it’s all due to Clooney. His star power has certainly transformed the life of the woman he choses to accompany him, but it’s not quite enough to make his new film a hit.

Leatherheads opened at second place its first weekend at the box office, and many Hollywood insiders see it as a sign that Clooney’s box office draw isn’t quite what it used to be.

Renee says she couldn’t work for TMZ (which mocked Yamin’s mom’s death)

reneetmz.jpg
Renee Zellweger is promoting “Leatherheads,” and in a recent interview with Parade Magazine she revealed that she majored in journalism in college and originally wanted to be a reporter. According to Wikipedia, Zellweger graduated with a BA in English in 1991 from the University of Texas at Austin and was a good student who often made the Dean’s list. She ended up acting after she took a drama class to fulfill a fine arts credit requirement.

Renee plays a journalist in the football comedy “Leatherheads,” and the interviewer asked her if she could ever write for TMZ. She was really gracious in her response, but you can tell she thinks they’re mean:

You play a reporter who’s trying to uncover the unpleasant past of a pro-star. Did you feel a little like you were working for TMZ?

“I don’t know that I’d want that kind of responsibility of having the power to hurt someone with a public disclosure. But, ironically, I intended to be a reporter before I got into acting. I majored in journalism, so it was kind of fun to explore that. But I could never write a story that would have a big, negative impact on somebody’s life. I don’t think I’d sit well with that.”

[From Parade.com via E-Online’s The Buzz]

TMZ recently covered former American Idol contestant Elliott Yamin’s mother’s death at 65 by concluding:

Yamin finished in 3rd place in 2006 on “Idol,” begind Katherine McPhee and Taylor Hicks - who, like Mrs. Yamin, will never be heard from again. (emphasis added)

[From TMZ]

TMZ eventually removed that super offensive last sentence after an enormous outcry from commentors. I’ve said some rude stuff too, you get kind of jaded with this job, but that’s just beyond mean.

The post on TMZ has over 500 comments now, with people saying things like “TMZ’s bizare and cruel response is inexcusable.” [Vivian]

Another commentor, jillkatz, said she met Elliot’s mom and that she was a great person. “I met Eliot’s mom two years ago when he was a contestant on IDOL. She appeared at every performance, and was so very proud of her son. We stood in line outside the IDOL studios after the show, where she introduced herself to me and my sister. Then she pulled us up front so she could introduce us to her son. He was so kind and so dear to his mom. We will miss such a lovely lady.”

When someone dies you’re supposed to say “our thoughts are with their family at this difficult time,” not try to come up with some clever snark. What is the gossip coming to? No wonder people like Renee equate it with knocking people down, it really does. Sorry Teri Hatcher, we suck too!

George Clooney says he never dated Renee Zelwegger

George Clooney is not going to let his girlfriend’s web-based mini scandal get in the way of a good premiere. He posed jokingly with his relatively long-lasting love, Sarah Larson, 29, on the red carpet at the premiere of his new film, Leatherheads last night. Humor author A.J. Jacobs interviewed Clooney for last month’s issue of Esquire, and their entire session consisted of Jacobs showing Clooney the criticism and sites about him on the Internet. Clooney was really low-key and mildly amused by all the crap about him online, and you can bet he got a kick out of those drunken photos of his girlfriend. Compared to the other photos on the photographer’s site, which include a lot of wasted topless women making out, the photos of Larson on all fours and sort-of bikini wrestling weren’t that bad.

Clooney has been tirelessly promoting Leatherheads, which is out in the US on April 4. He has an interview in this week’s Life & Style that includes a lot of his deadpan witty comments, like saying he likes to wear women’s clothing and shoes. He also told a funny story about how he embarrassed designer Georgio Armani by wearing one of his suits until it started looking beat. Armani sent him a new one and told him to either wear it or not credit him with designing that old thing:

Are you into fashion?
It’s not that important to me. I’ve worn the same tux so long that Georgio Armani actually sent me a new one and said, “Please either wear this or stop saying you’re wearing Armani, because it’s frayed.” I’ve basically worn this sweater for three days. It’s easier for men than for women.

Do you have sympathy for women’s fashion woes?
I do wear a lot of women’s clothes. The thing is the pumps. I have Manolos in size 11 1/2. They’re hard on your calves.

[From Life & Style, print edition, April 7, 2008]

As for whether he dated Renee Zellweger, to which he said “a little bit” when asked, Clooney said he was joking and that comment was overblown, but he got in trouble with Zellweger for it. He says “No” when asked if it’s true that they dated a little.

Is it true that you and Renee Zellweger dated a little?
No. Someone went through a list of girls I supposedly dated. I replied. “Yes, no, yes, no, no, never heard of her, a little bit,” as a joke. If you take the list and what I said together, it looks like I said “a little bit” about Renee. She later said to me, “A little bit?” I was like, uh-oh, I’m in trouble.

[From Life & Style, print edition, April 7, 2008]

I still think they had something going on, though.

Leatherheads is a football comedy set in the 1920s and it’s getting mixed reviews. We’ll have to see how it does at the box office.

Zellwegger looks really good at the premiere in LA last night. Her face isn’t all bright red or ghostly looking and that’s a great vintage-cut dress. Also shown are John Krasinski and Jenna Fischer. I love Jenna Fischer, she seems so down to earth. Thanks to PRPhotos for these pictures.

Renee Zellweger On Binge Eating; Third Bridget Jones Coming

Renee Zellweger says that eating anything you want, and getting paid millions for it, isn’t fun. I think she’s just ruined a fantasy for more than one of us.

Renee gained 20 pounds for her role in Bridget Jones’s Diary and again for it’s sequel, and lost the weight quickly afterwards both times. She says she was panicked at the warnings she received about how dangerous it is to yo-yo diet, and the freedom to eat as she pleased wasn’t as much fun as she thought.

“It sounds like heaven,” she said. “For two days it’s bliss and then you’re full, OK? And you can then indulge all your fantasies about over-eating.

“Fantasies about non-stop chocolate consumption or your fantasies about ordering the pizza and the spaghetti and the garlic bread.

“Then after a week your glucose levels are going crazy. You’re up and down and all over the place. It doesn’t feel good, and no one wants to hear that, but it’s the truth.”

Daily Mail

Not only does Renee think that eating delicious junk food isn’t fun, she really, really likes to exercise. Is she being paid to say this by some kind of fitness equipment store? Because no one actually likes the treadmill, do they?

“I have a lifestyle,” she told reporters Thursday night. “It involves keeping my sanity by going to the gym.”

Zellweger, 38, cut a slim figure on the red carpet, but said she doesn’t miss her Bridget Jones look. “I don’t think my curves are absent,” she said with a laugh. “I think I’m doing alright, thank you very much.”

People

I know what Renee is saying about exercise making you feel good, when I get off my butt and exercise with some regularity I really feel like I have a lot more energy. Of course, if there is a choice between exercising and doing anything else, exercise will always be the loser.

Renee was discussing her weight gain in relation to a possible third installment of Bridget Jones’s Diary. Author Helen Feilding is reportedly working on a third novel, detailing Bridget’s move to Los Angeles and having children. I hope that this is true, I love those books.

Renee Zellweger is dating Uma Thurman’s ex

38 year old actress Renee Zellwegger was spotted out on a date with millionaire hotelier Andre Balazs, 50. Balazs dated Uma Thurman for years and was recently linked with rageaholic Naomi Campbell. Renee and Andre were seen out at dinner, with Renee trying to hide her face from the paparazzi waiting outside. They ended the night at her place so it looks like the date went well for both of them.

[Renee Zellweger] is dating… hotel mogul Andre Balazs… The two were recently spotted getting cozy at Manhattan’s posh San Domenico restaurant.

And when Renee and Andre finished their dinner at 2 a.m., they headed to her place.

Although the actress tried to hide from the cameras, The Enquirer got the scoop on the couple’s new romance.

“Renee is totally into Andre,” a Hollywood insider told us.

[From The National Enquirer, print edition, December 10, 2007]

Single Renee Zellweger is often portrayed as a sad sap by the media. She was said to have been rejected by rock legend Paul McCartney after the two enjoyed at least one romantic date this summer, and she hasn’t had much luck in love otherwise. Her marriage to country singer Kenny Chesney ended in 2005 after four months, and she had an on and off relationship with singer Jack Black White, who married a model shortly after breaking it off with Renee.

Zellweger doesn’t do much to dispel our impression of her. She was recently quoted as saying that she likes to go to parties late when no one will point at her, referring to herself as “the weird actress girl in the corner.” She sure has low self esteem for an Oscar winner and one of the highest paid women in Hollywood. Maybe that’s part of the reason why she’s unlucky in love.

Zellweger stars as the female voice of the lead character in the animated film Bee Movie, which I found thoroughly awful. She said she rented her Hollywood home to co-star Jerry Seinfeld and that it was coincidentally infested with bees. She claims to be unaware that the bees had taken up residence in her home before Seinfeld rented it. Is it scandalous that the star of Bee Movie had to kill a bunch of bees to live somewhere? Maybe I’m jumping to conclusions, but it seems likely that Seinfeld had the bees exterminated, not that there’s anything wrong with that.

Renee is shown in the header image at the French premiere of Bee Movie last night. thanks to Splash News. The other images are from the US premiere on 10/28/07, thanks to PRPhotos.

Renee Zellweger says she’s ok with being single; moves to Connecticut

top-dgg-016173.jpg

I love the way stuffy old “Readers Digest” writes articles. Terrible things are presented, then the person says why they’ve grown because of it, or are at least okay with it. Something like, “Luanne says that, while she’s not happy about having it, bowel cancer has taught her to be grateful for the small things in life.” So today we learn that, while she’s not happy about it, being single has taught Renee Zellweger to be grateful for the small things in life. Yes she’s been linked to some of the sexiest (or in one case funniest) men in Hollywood, she’s had a spectacularly brief marriage (that ended because of “fraud” – we’re all still waiting to hear exactly what that entails) and she moved to Connecticut, but Renée is really cool with it all – even though the article somehow subtly suggests she really shouldn’t be.

On staying single for the rest of her life:
“I don’t want to sound cavalier by saying that I’m okay with my situation, because I’m not a frivolous person and don’t take on something of such significance lightly. But there’s good in every situation. It sounds simplistic, but I still have the good things that have always been in my life.”

On her short-lived marriage to Chesney:
“I got married, and I’m not married. Not everything works out like you might hope, and I’m not the first person to have disappointment in my life.”

On her relationship with Clooney:
“He’s a good friend … you know, we have a lovely relationship. I write him six-page e-mails about my political rage, and he writes back, and cares too.”

On why she won’t take on racy roles:
“I don’t want the first shot of the movie to be a close-up on my naked breast because what that leads to doesn’t have a place in my life. “[Older brother] Drew, Dad, Mom, there’s a premiere tonight. You want to come?” I have to keep that in mind.”

On why she left L.A.:
“I wasn’t really into being followed around everywhere by six guys with two-way radios. There’s this whole network. You start to recognize them and it’s like, You’re not invited. I have a fitting, then I have to go meet this director to discuss the next project, then I have an interview, and I’m going to go for a run. And you’re not invited. But they’ll come with you all day. I don’t want to feed the fishes. I also don’t want to be one of those people who are sour about it. So I decided I’d just leave.”

[From Readers Digest via Us Weekly]

That’s a cute way to talk about the paparazzi: feeding the fishes. I have an image of Renée standing over a giant fishbowl that’s holding a bunch of swarming photographers, and she’s tapping in a few little flakes. That makes me happy. And Connecticut sounds nice, a lot of famous and wealthy people live there. Thus all the jokes about Connecticut. I spent my entire first year in New York city bitching about how much I wanted to move to Connecticut. Well that, and a fishing village in Maine. I can’t really see Renee Zellweger in one of those though. She’s already said she doesn’t like feeding fish.

Renee Zellweger Shares Her Shoe Fetish

reneezellwegermanoloblahnikshoes.jpg
Ever since I saw Bridget Jones’ Diary I’ve wanted to be friends with Renee Zellweger/Bridget Jones. She is just so very cute, and she has great clothes that I know she would lend me, even if I would only fit into her Bridget size wardrobe.

Now, I have yet another reason to be friends with Miss Jones.

Renee Zellweger has a big heart. Wendy Faracino, a Bobbi Brown makeup artist at Saks Fifth Avenue in Southampton, was on her break and looking at a pair of Manolo Blahniks when Zellweger strolled up and the two began talking about shoes. Barely 15 minutes after she went back to work, Faracino was approached by the shoe department’s manager with a gift-wrapped box. “These are compliments of Renée Zellweger. She wanted you to have them,” he said. Inside were the Manolos she’d been admiring.

New York Post

Now, I know this is hardly the biggest act of philanthropy a celebrity could perform. Colin Farrell recently set up a homeless man with a new wardrobe, house and cash. Brad and Angelina have been known to throw a dollar or two at worthy causes. But somehow this seems like the ultimate in PR. Not that I’m suggesting that PR is why Renee bought the gift, but because it is almost within reach of us non-celebs. Like giving money to someone short of change in front of you in line, or helping someone carry their bags to their door, or just something anyone could do. Sure, most of us wouldn’t be able to gift a pair of Manolos, but it’s a small gesture.

That’s made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. I think I’m going to find an old lady to help her across the street.

Picture note by Celebitchy: Renee Zellweger is shown looking much cuter and friendlier at the Miss Potter premiere on 12/10/06. She looks a lot better with a little more essential weight.

Renee Zellweger Attracts A ‘Truckload’ Of Men

Renee Zellweger might have been having a quiet night in in front of the fire – until she was interrupted by fire fighters.

The Cold Mountain actress was feeling the chill yesterday (20.09.07) and decided to use the fireplace in her luxurious New York apartment - but alarmed neighbours smelled smoke coming from her floor and phoned the emergency services.

A source told the New York Post newspaper: “A truckload of fire-fighters arrived at Renee’s apartment. They came and put out the contained fire in her fireplace. It seemed very unnecessary, but maybe because it is so early in the season, the neighbour was concerned.”

Renee was said to be startled by the sudden arrival of the fire-fighters, but laughed and joked with the men while they checked her apartment.

Sydney Morning Herald

While the rumours are still circulating that Renee is involved with Paul McCartney, I think she might have just been checking out the local talent in the New York Fire Department. One cold night, a girl living alone in her new apartment realizes that with the end of the summer party season, comes long nights alone, so she decides to get some men into her apartment the only way she knows how…Bridget Jones would do it.

Just to keep you up to date with Renee and her supposed romance with Macca, she’s said to have rented a cosy cottage in East Hampton with a piano and guitar in residence. No Beatles in residence yet.

Paul McCartney hasn’t been seen anywhere near the Hamptons, this week he auctioned a guitar for charity and attended his daughter Stella’s London Fashion Week show.

Renee Zellweger is shown on 8/26/07 at the Tom Petty show at Social in the Hamptons. Thanks to WENN.

Paul McCartney Gets A Little Help From His Ladyfriends

Paul McCartney is one of England’s most eligible bachelors, and just about anyone could have a crush on him. So perhaps it shouldn’t be a surprise that Renee Zellweger has a crush on the newly single Beatle.

Renee, 38, said: “I do have a big crush on Paul McCartney. I feel quite embarrassed saying it because I haven’t even told him yet.

“I’ve told my friends and I think they might have told him. Well I guess if he doesn’t know he will find out now.”

The Sun

Unfortunately for Renee, Paul denied the recent reports the two are dating, saying, “We’re not dating. We’re in the same group of friends and that’s it.”

We’ve all heard the ‘just good friends’ line a few times, maybe there will be no official announcement of romance until, say, Paul is actually divorced from his previous wife Heather Mills!

Of course, Paul is hot property, and even though he’s almost twice Renee’s age, she’s not without competition. Australian papers are trying to link Paul with supermodel Elle Macpherson, after they were photographed together at the GQ Man of the Year Awards.

At the Man of the Year event, where Paul was the Man of the Year, he was also photographed flirting with Natalie Imbruglia, an Australian pop star. She’s probably not linked to the Beatle as she’s married to equally attractive Australian rock star Daniel Johns. No one wants Aussie pop royalty to split up, we’re still grieving the loss of Tom Cruise as Australia’s favourite son-in-law.

Anyway, even at 65, I’m beginning to suspect that Macca may have plenty of women on hand to help him recover from his divorce.
