Renee Zellweger in Carolina Herrera: looking better or worse?

nyf_carolina_herrera_outside_arrivals_04_wenn3508647

These are photos from yesterday’s Carolina Herrera runway show in NYC – Renee Zellweger is one of Carolina’s favorites, and the feeling is mutual. I almost always love when Renee collaborates with Carolina – they go together beautifully. I’m assuming Renee’s pale little dress is Herrera. It’s very cute. And Renee looks healthy too – and I’m not saying that in a mocking way, at all. She’s been keeping her head down for months, basically since she and Bradley Cooper split up. I don’t know where Renee goes when she disappears, but at least I know that she’s been eating the occasional solid.

I know I’ve asked this before, but did Renee get her boobs done? I’m still wondering. She started looking a little extra booby last year, but some theorized that she’s just wearing padded bras. If she did get them done, she got small implants that fit her frame, so good for her. Also, speaking of Renee and plastic surgery: her face is looking better. Not so frozen, not so tweaked and alien-like. You can see a better photo of her face here.

Oh, and Nicki Minaj was at Carolina’s show too. This is how Nicki showed up… no comment.

‘Bridget Jones 3′ is a go, Colin Firth confirms new details

fp_7250057_metgala_ram_80_256

A few months ago, we covered the unfortunate report that a third Bridget Jones’s Diary movie was on the way, thanks to the fact that Bridesmaids director Paul Feig was inexplicably interested in helming the project. Like many of you expressed in the comments section, I was utterly distraught at this news and couldn’t understand why either author Helen Fielding or the movie studio could justify the further desecration of the formerly lovable Bridget, who was transformed in the second movie, Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason, from an exhilarating heroine to a relatively idiotic buffoon in eternal pursuit of Mark Darcy’s almighty marriage proposal. To make matters worse, the second movie also shoehorned in some silly plot where the Rebecca character awkwardly planted a kiss on Bridget, which was just a shameless attempt to add some “lesbian controversy” into an otherwise vanilla sequel. What I’m trying to say is this — clearly, the first movie was lightning and couldn’t possibly strike twice with the same degree of charm.

At any rate, when the new rumors popped up a few months ago, I was discouraged but also of the firm belief that Colin Firth (and his demanding post-Oscar schedule) would step up and save the day, for he would be the only person who could possibly keep this third movie from happening. Unfortunately, I was wrong, and Colin himself has given EW some new details that are even worse than you could have imagined. Apparently, Mark Darcy is shooting blanks:

It’s finally time to re-open the diary: Bridget Jones is returning to the big screen.

EW has confirmed exclusively that Working Title Films, the production company responsible for the first movie released in 2001 and the second one dubbed The Edge of Reason in 2004, is moving ahead with a third installment. Based at Universal, Working Title has been mulling a sequel since 2009.

No other details were available, but last year, Bridget costar Colin Firth, who plays lovable Mark Darcy, told EW’s Dave Karger some details about a possible plot. “I can tell you that Bridget and Mark can’t have children, I think that’s the way it goes on,” Firth told Karger, who was reporting for Access Hollywood. “So then she makes the huge mistake of going back to Daniel Cleaver [Hugh Grant's character] for long enough to get pregnant. And I think he dumps her, and she’s left stranded, and guess who comes back to rescue her?”

The movies are based on Helen Fielding’s novel of the same name and starred Renee Zellweger as Bridget. The first film was an international hit, taking in a reported $281 million. The second was crucified by the critics but still raked in $262 million worldwide.

Earlier this year, the London Evening Standard reported that Fielding had begun writing the third installment of the best-selling books. At the time, she said there had been discussions about the next film. “I will be working on both the book and the film but I don’t know if they are the same thing yet. It’s not been decided.”

[From EW.com]

Alright, now that Colin has deserted us, maybe Hugh Grant can put the brakes on this nonsense? After all, Hugh, who is very busy and important, has been quite occupied whilst saving the whole of England (and Americans too) from the NOTW wiretapping scandal. As for Renee, she has no choice but to jump on this ill-fated ship because she’s got no other future projects lined up in the immediate future. Maybe we’ll get lucky and she won’t want to leave John Stamos’ side, but that’s a very remote possibility.

You know what wouldn’t be a totally awful prospect though? Scrap the entire plot that Firth described and just make the entire story about Shazzer (I love that mouthy bitch) with brief interludes of a floppy-haired Daniel Cleaver and a stammering Mark Darcy running through in a homoerotic daze. Because, honestly, I want to capitulate at the thought of Mark “saving” a teary-eyed, pregnant Bridget and have no further desire to see Daniel’s womanizing baby hit upon his own mum.

Renee Zellweger and John Stamos are dating now, apparently

fp_6703240_api_goldenkamera_31_38

I’m not gonna lie at all here — when I heard the recent divorce announcement from Jack White and Karen Elson, my first thought was “Renee’s single! Make haste, Jack, and get back together with her.” Unfortunately, Jack has not followed my hopeful advice, and neither has Renee Zellweger; instead, she’s taken to nursing her post-Bradley Cooper wounds in a very undecidedly rock’n'roll manner with the likes of … John Stamos? No kidding.

Has Bridget Jones found her new Mr. Darcy … in Uncle Jesse?

Renee Zellweger and John Stamos went to Disneyland together on Monday, two separate witnesses tell Us Weekly. The 42-year-old actress and Stamos, 47, “were having a great time laughing and dancing as they walked from one ride to another,” one witness says.

Zellweger and the Glee guest star “looked really close and both very happy.”

The duo “were trying to stay under the radar.” Stamos wore a white t-shirt and black baseball cap. “We recognized him immediately and asked him for a picture,” the fan says. “[He and Renee] were both very nice! She was definitely more shy.”

Not aware that Stamos’ companion was an Oscar-nominated actress, the fans asked Zellweger to take their picture with the Full House hunk. “We actually didn’t recognize her until they were leaving, and she handed my phone back to us!”

Another group spotted the duo (escorted by a tour guide) outside the Splash Mountain ride — and similarly asked an incognito Zellweger to take their photo with Stamos.

“She struggled a little bit trying to get a picture,” the second observer tells Us. “We didn’t even recognize it was Renee until later!”

Zellweger split from Bradley Cooper in March 2011 after less than two years together. Stamos was married to Rebecca Romijn from 1998 to 2005.

[From Us Weekly]

Well, this is surprising news indeed and arrives inauspiciously on the tails of renewed Bridget Jones 3 gossip, but these two pieces of news surely cannot be connected, right? Still, I find it strange that Renee would go for John Stamos, who is admittedly handsome but in a very 1980s sort of way. As for Renee, she’s much more of a 1990s sort of girl. Still, perhaps these two have enough in common to make a go for it. Both of them have suffered through enough of the broken relationship thing lately and deserve a fresh start, no?

Note by Kaiser: LaineyGossip was actually the first outlet to report this, I think she deserves credit for her scoop!

‘Bridget Jones 3′ inches even closer to happening, inevitable disaster

fp_7249180_metgala_ram_18_256

As far as romantic comedies go, Bridget Jones’s Diary (2001) is one of my very favorites of the genre. However, I’m one of those movie fans who also like to pretend that Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason (2004) never happened at all. In comparison to the exhilaration of the lovable heroine (perfectly embodied by Renee Zellweger) from the first movie, the sequel was a complete letdown to watch her transformed into a buffoon pursuing the ever-conditional marriage proposal from Mark Darcy. Quite simply, the second movie sought to replicate several key scenes from the first one (including that glorious street fight between Hugh Grant’s Daniel Cleaver and Colin Firth’s Darcy) but merely turned into a parody of the first movie. Honestly, I could go on for days about that injustice; but instead, I’ll just complain about an even worse and very likely prospect.

For the past few years, we’ve heard lots of buzzing about a potential third installment to the Bridget Jones franchise. At first, these rumors were easily dismissed, since the second movie disappointed so many Bridget fans; but now, this nightmare could indeed come to fruition, for there’s a script and a director with cred who is “beyond keen” to work on the project:

The film-maker behind the summer’s surprise success, Bridesmaids, is in the early stages of discussions about getting Bridget Jones back into her outsized pants for a third instalment of the film comedy starring Renee Zellweger.

Paul Feig, who told me he’s “beyond keen” to make a movie in London, is in the middle of very complex negotiations about making Bridget 3.

The status of the film at the moment is purely rumour because no deals involving Feig — or the film’s stars Renee, Colin Firth and Hugh Grant — have been sorted out.

An executive in Los Angeles, who is close to one of the film’s participants, told me that negotiations have been fragile because Feig and the cast have other projects; and then there are the usual problems of schedules and money.

I was told that the film-maker, the actors and the studios (Working Title and Focus) are close to agreement on important matters relating to the film, but not close enough for anyone to sign on a dotted line.

Helen Fielding, who created the Bridget Jones’s Diary column in a national newspaper, has written a script for Bridget Jones 3 that features her heroine hoping to become pregnant. But which bloke will be the daddy? Love-rat Daniel Cleaver, played by Grant, or Mark Darcy, the man who loves her just the way she is, played by Firth.

Oscar-winner Firth has indicated that if the script makes sense he’d been interested in reprising his role. Feig is just the man to bring them all together. He knows how to direct comedy and he knows how to be funny.

[From Daily Mail]

Why? Nobody (except perhaps the film studio) wants this third movie to happen at all. Wait, I take that back, for Renee Zellweger may be interested in reprising her role because she doesn’t have much going on professionally at the moment. Yet I honestly can’t see her wanting to gain weight (she’s so fit these days) to play Bridget once again. While they might be able to talk Hugh into coming back as well, Colin Firth is another story altogether. With his newly minted Oscar, Colin’s being pursued by any number of studios for other movies; so if anyone he can put the brakes on this impending disaster, it would be him. Colin Firth, you’re our only hope.

Is John Mayer bumpin’ uglies with Renee Zellweger?

wenn3321119

Last week, Perez Hilton reported that Renee Zellweger and John Mayer had been “quietly going on dates in LA and New York.” The claim – which may have begun in the tabloid The Globe – was that Renee and John weren’t really officially dating or anything, but that Renee was “looking for a good time with a hot guy.” Shortly after Perez’s story broke, Gossip Cop got a denial from Renee’s rep… although that doesn’t mean much. Renee’s rep rarely if ever confirms any personal information about who she’s with.

Anyway, I remember reading some stuff about it last week and then I kind of forgot it. And then I read this item in Page Six this morning:

Ladies’ man John Mayer had a double date in Brooklyn over the weekend. The singer hit Pub One’s newly opened garden in DUMBO Sunday night with an unidentified woman and another couple. The foursome enjoyed beers, margaritas and burgers, according to a spy, and stayed for a leisurely meal. Mayer came complete with a Brooklyn look, “dressed casually in a plaid parka,” we’re told. Reports have said he’s discreetly dating Renée Zellweger but the relationship isn’t serious.

[From Page Six]

As far as I know, John Mayer hasn’t had a big celebrity girlfriend since he and Taylor Swift were braiding each other’s hair and rolling in a pile of stuffed animals and glitter (after which Mayer probably talked about his dong in the third person). He was rumored to be perhaps hittin’ it with one of those random 90210 chicks (Jessica something, I think), but those reports died off too.

So is it possible that Renee has jumped on Mayer’s David Duke dong? Much like with Bradley Cooper, I feel like if Renee is dating ‘em, chances are that they’re gay. I know that’s horrible and probably all kinds of wrong, but she always seems to find the ones that ping my gaydar. Add to that the issue of Mayer’s history with Jennifer Aniston… Renee got Bradley Cooper after Aniston too. It’s all starting to look kind of fishy. If it’s on, I have to say: Renee, you could find a much better closet-case. For real.

Renee Zellweger in Carolina Herrera at the Met Gala, pretty or underwhelming?

met_gala_01_wenn3321459
Renee Zellweger went stag and wore her favorite designer, Carolina Herrera, to last night’s Costume Institute Gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Her nude dress looks potentially plain from far away, but it’s actually intricately beaded all over and features sheer beaded sleeves, a sweetheart neckline under sheer paneling, and wavy sheer panels in the skirt. It’s an amazing gown and fits her like a glove. I love the high leg slit and the silver accent jewels around the side and back. The low cut back is a bit much and I expected to see her ass crack at any moment, but overall it’s a killer dress.

fp_7250901_metgala_ram_193_
Renee completed the look with nude Christian Louboutin heels, a simple clutch and a gold dome ring. The cut and color of Renee’s dress makes it similar to Gwyneth’s look that night, but the detailing and design flourishes push Renee’s gown over the top. I really love this dress on her. Her makeup was subtle and while her hair left something to be desired there isn’t much she can do with hair that short. At least she doesn’t have phony extensions like so many other women in Hollywood. Renee is working it, and she knows it.

Renee Zellweger’s Hilfiger ads: adorable or tragic?

zell1

I have been utterly bewildered by everybody’s super-strong opinions about Renee Zellweger’s trip to Milan this week. Renee flew to Italy to promote a new Tommy Hilfiger purse, the proceeds of which go to a breast cancer charity. Renee did a day-time press-pool photo op event earlier this week, and then did an evening red carpet event, both times clad in relatively cute Hilfiger clothes. When I thought Renee’s makeup is funky (the red coat photos), you yelled at me and said she looked great. When I thought Renee looked pretty good in her little green cocktail dress, a lot of you yelled at me and screamed that she looked like hell. I don’t get it. Truly. Renee’s face isn’t looking so jacked lately, but her makeup and styling is still very hit-or-miss. That being said, I honestly don’t think she looks as emaciated as she used to – she’s thin and muscular, and her collarbone looks painful, but I think she looks healthier than she has in a while.

Anyway, these are some new images of Renee – they are ads and promotional images she’s done for this Hilfiger charity bag. According to The Mail, Renee actually collaborated with Hilfiger to design the bag, which is retailing at $425 and is made from brown, natural, vegetable-tanned leather suede. $140 from each bag will go to the Fund for Living, with is an association to support women battling cancer and to also help cover their day to day expenses. Renee said: “This is one of the best things about this initiative, and I love that Tommy Hilfiger has supported it for five years. It’s very real, very direct, helping women in their personal struggles, buying a wig or allowing them to hire a babysitter or to take a taxi when they don’t feel like they can ride the bus.” You can read more about Renee’s involvement here.

Renee Zellweger’s green cocktail dress in Milan: adorable or tacky?

wenn3284383

I was genuinely surprised that so many of you whole-heartedly approved of Renee Zellweger’s return to the red carpet after her split from Bradley Cooper. We had the photos of Renee modeling a Tommy Hilfiger purse (for charity) in Milan yesterday, and these are photos from the evening Hilfiger event, also yesterday. Once again, I’m assuming the dress is Hilfiger just because… why would Renee wear Carolina Herrera to a Tommy Hilfiger event? Still, it looks kind of Herrera-esque, right? Oh, well. I can’t find who did the dress for sure.

I do really like it, though. I like the whole look – the makeup improved (her foundation was too dark when she wore the red coat), and the green totally pops. Her face doesn’t look jacked and she’s not making a lemon face. Even her body looks good – healthy.

Is Renee healthy, though? I dislike the tabloid stories pushing Renee as some kind of victim post-split from Bradley Cooper, just because Renee seems to be going out of her way to NOT act like a victim. Unfortunately, the British tabloids have their claws into a depressing story about the split – and I really hope it’s not true. According to Now Magazine (yeah, not reliable), Renee is humiliated because she really did think she and Bradley would end up getting married, and she had already bought the Carolina Herrera wedding gown. The source claims that Renee bought the dress and Bradley kept pushing back the wedding date because his father was ill, and then after his dad died, Renee was all, “So we can get married now?” And Bradley was all, “Um, NO.” Apparently, Renee has been telling friends that she’s been “stabbed in the heart.” Whatever… I think Renee might have wanted to marry Bradley, but as I said, I like the way she’s been putting herself out there post-split.

Renee Zellweger’s first post-split red carpet: cute or tragic?

renee_zellweger_9_wenn3283629

Here are some new photos of Renee Zellweger in Milan for the “launch” of the Tommy Hilfiger Limited Edition Bag Launch For Breast Health International. I’m sure it’s a great cause and everything, but did Renee really just fly to Milan to launch a BAG? Does that bother anyone else? Anyway, Us Weekly is raising the High Alert because this is Renee’s first red carpet appearance since she and Bradley Cooper split (once again, a red carpet for a BAG). LaineyGossip notes that Bradley was in Italy yesterday – he was in Rome, promoting Limitless. Is it possible that two exes showing up in two different Italian cities one day apart is something more? I don’t know.

Here’s what I do know: this is not the best appearance Renee could have made. First, it’s not a red carpet appearance for a premiere or anything. It’s not really like she needs to be in Milan to promote a bag, and it actually feels like it might be a kind of C-list event. And while her red coat is really, really cute (I’m assuming it is Tommy Hilfiger as well), everything else with Renee is a mess. The makeup is really, really bad. But even worse than that, Renee has actually reverted back to her pre-Bradley posing. Do you remember? When she just kept losing more and more weight and she would just keep contorting her body in crazier positions because she thought it was more high fashion? It’s not quite back to the old stuff, but I’m worried that we’ll get there again with Renee. Ugh.

The bag is super-cute, though. I would totally buy it.

Jennifer Aniston is trying to make this Bradley Cooper thing happen again

wenn9125132

Back in 2009, Bradley Cooper went on several high-profile “dates” with several high profile women. It always struck me that he was doing the budget version of what Tom Cruise (allegedly) did: auditioning his next partner. Except Tom ended up marrying his robot bride, while Bradley ended up “dating” Renee Zellweger for nearly two years before breaking up just a few weeks ago. Some think Bradley and Renee were a real couple – some don’t. I’m not judging either way. Anyway, one of the high-profile ladies that Bradley “dated” back in 2009 has an opinion about his breakup. That’s right, Jennifer Aniston has some thoughts. And she has ZERO sympathy for Renee, according to a talkative and oblivious National Enquirer source. You see, in Aniston’s mind, Renee “stole” Bradley away from her, and this breakup and Renee’s misery is all “karma”. Seriously, this is one of the funniest stories I’ve read all week – it’s a thing of beauty:

Turnabout is fair play – and Jennifer Aniston is rejoicing in Renee Zellweger’s misery after her split from Bradley Cooper, the Enquirer has learned. Aniston was heartbroken when Bradley ended their romance nearly two years ago and started dating Renee almost immediately. Now sources say Jennifer is gloating over their breakup.

“Jennifer has zero sympathy for Renee. I think as far as she’s concerned, this is a case of karma catching up with her,” an insider divulged. “The way I see it, Renee swooped in and basically stole Bradley away from her. She was devastated, and I think she’s been seething about it ever since. Jen’s not usually a bitter person [Editor’s note: LMAO!], but I’m sure she’s enjoying the fact that things didn’t work out between Bradley and Renee. She’s even reached out to him since their split.”

Bradley is reportedly anxious to jump back into the dating game, and has already been linked to Sandra Bullock and Jessica Biel. Still, insiders aren’t ruling out reconciliation with Jennifer, who’s dated a number of actors since her brief romance with Bradley in 2009.

“Jen and Bradley had great chemistry together,” pointed out another source. “There are no hard feelings as far as Jen’s concerned, but I don’t think she could ever understand his attraction to Renee in the first place. They always looked awkward together, and Bradley was obviously not ready to commit fully to Renee.”

The source added: “I think Renee was very smug about her relationship with Bradley from the get-go, and Jen probably feels Renee finally got what she deserved. Now maybe she can rekindle her romance with Bradley!”

[From The National Enquirer, print edition]

First – how bitchy is “I don’t think she could ever understand his attraction to Renee in the first place. They always looked awkward together”? Even though I know everybody is going to yell and say that this is obviously made up (and it probably is), I think that statement is probably true regarding Aniston’s thought process.

Secondly – I remember the Cooper-Aniston “hookup” as it was. A series of dinners, followed by several swift denials directly from Bradley about how Aniston was JUST a friend, followed quickly by the relationship with Renee. I even remember the Us Weekly cover story in which several “sources” laid out the real reasons Bradley and Jennifer didn’t happen: he thought she was “not natural and insecure” and that she was putting on an “act”. The sources claimed that Bradley went with Renee because she was more low-key, more down-to-earth, less of neurotic, bitter, superficial drama queen.

My thought: whether or not the specifics of this story are true, I do know that Bradley made it clear in 2009 that he wasn’t interested. And if Aniston thinks it’s going to happen now, two years later, well… that’s sad. Oh, as I was finishing this up, the new issue of In Touch Weekly came in, and they have another story about Aniston pouncing on Bradley too. According to their sources, “She’s been texting him again…Jen would give Bradley another chance in a heartbeat… she likes him!”
