Blake Lively & Ryan Reynolds posed together at ‘Sound for Change’ concert: OMG?

Here are some more photos from last night’s ‘The Sound of Change Live’ concert at Twickenham Stadium in London – I just covered Madonna’s puffy appearance here. As I said in the other post, this event got a really good turnout as far as celebrities go, and this event now has some a historical moment in gossip too: this is the first time that married couple Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively have ever gone to an event together AND POSED TOGETHER. Sort of. Maybe they weren’t really “posing” like on a red carpet, but they didn’t pitch a fit about being seen together either. Historic! I have to say… marriage is agreeing with them. He looks particularly good, doesn’t he? I’m not even a fan, but the haircut is great, he looks less gerbil-y, and it’s all working. One complaint: I’m in love with leather jacket and I actually think it might be a lady’s jacket?

Other photos from the event…Jessie J shaved her head recently, did you know that? She looks sort of like Amber Rose now. Which isn’t bad.

Florence Welch is like the ginger Stevie Nicks (as far as costumes go). I LOVE THIS.

Jennifer Lopez “performed” in yet another skimpy (-ish) outfit. She recently defended her stage outfits and she basically didn’t understand why there was so much fuss about her outfits last week – go here to read.

Is Ryan Reynolds ‘controlling’ Blake Lively’s career, wardrobe & workouts?

When Scarlett Johansson and Ryan Reynolds split up, I was not surprised. Even though I think ScarJo was partially to blame – she was too young to settle down, she wasn’t honest with Ryan about who she was and is – I always thought that Ryan must be a piece of work in private. He just seems… I don’t know… like he wants a very “traditional” marriage with 1950s gender roles. He wants to find a girl with big boobs who will make him dinner every night and cater to his every whim. That kind of “traditional”. And some people thought he found that with Blake Lively.

Since getting with Ryan, Blake has barely worked – she basically just finished out her Gossip Girl contract and that’s it. She’s been following him around as he films his projects, and she’s been decorating their homes and God knows, she’s probably going to get pregnant at some point. And all of that is fine, unless she’s just changing who she is to make Ryan happy, to cater to his every whim. Which is what Star Magazine claims:

Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively are starting to feel the consequences of their quickie wedding – because, according to sources, Ryan’s major control issues are starting to show!

After secretly tying the knot last September, Ryan has halted Blake’s work schedule, has taken control of her wardrobe and constantly forces her to work out with him.

“Ryan was very loving and sweet to Blake before they married,” says the pal. But not long after they said their vows, his demeanor started to change.”

Rayn’s behavior is even reminding his bride of the toxic relationship between Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes.

“She’s concerned,” continues the pal. “She can’t keep living like this.”

[From Star Magazine, print edition]

I know it’s Star and half of you have already tuned out because of that, but quite honestly, this story rings true to me. Maybe it’s all a big conspiracy and Ryan is secretly a really nice guy who is easy-going and pleasant to everyone he meets. Or it could be that he’s moody and controlling and he pitches a fit whenever Blake wants to, you know, work as an actress. Sigh… maybe a baby will “fix” things. That’s what Blake is probably thinking right now.

Does Ryan Reynolds have another bomb on his hands with ‘R.I.P.D’?

What would happen if Beetlejuice and Men In Black had a love child and that love child was an idiot? That love child idiot would be R.I.P.D., the new film starring Jeff Bridges and Ryan Reynolds. I remember the photos from this film shoot too, and at the time I thought it was a standard-issue “opposites attract” cop movie, like Lethal Weapon only with one old white guy and one young white guy. As it turns out, R.I.P.D. is “supernatural” and extremely weird. That’s kind of on me, by the way. I never bothered researching this mess, and it’s only now that I’m discovering that the film is based on a comic called Demolition Man. R.I.P.D. stands for “Rest In Peace Department” – meaning that the characters Ryan and Jeff play are actually dead, and they’re like ghost cops. Why didn’t they just call this shiz “Ghost Cops”? It would have been more to the point and less annoying. Here’s the first trailer:

The only bit I think is somewhat funny is the thing about how people in the real world see them as completely different people, and Jeff’s reality avatar is a really hot model chick. By the way, how in the world did Jeff Bridges ever sign on to this mess? What, he won his Oscar so he’s just doing crazy stuff now? And I swear to God, he’s still doing his Rooster Cogburn voice from True Grit (how amazing was True Grit?). I guess I understand why Ryan Reynolds said yes to this – he wanted to work with Jeff and it’s not like Ryan gets all of the good scripts, you know? Ryan Gosling gets first choice. Reynolds is lucky if he gets Gosling’s throwaways.

Anyway, this comes out on July 19th… let’s see what it’s up against… The Lone Ranger will dominate the first weekend of the month, than Pacific Rim (maybe?) the week after that, and the only thing really competing with RIPD is the sequel to Red, that Bruce Willis/John Malkovich/Helen Mirren movie. I dunno… I’m kind of rooting for Red 2. Right?

Blake Lively refuses to have Ryan Reynolds’ babies unless he stops watching TV

I really thought that we’d have a Blake Lively pregnancy announcement by now. Not that I believed Blake and Ryan Reynolds’ wedding was of the shotgun variety, but it’s been about six months since they got hitched – that’s long enough for Blake to get knocked up as a married lady! I really thought that was the way she was going to play it – a quick, head-over-heels courtship, immediately moving into together and bolting off to get married quietly less than a year after they first started up, followed by a swift pregnancy announcement. But I guess Blake is going to make us wait. And Star Magazine has an absurd reason for “why” she’s making us wait: apparently, Ryan is a TV addict. For real?

Newlywed Blake Lively is apparently already annoyed with husband Ryan Reynolds – because he can’t turn off the TV! Blake, 25, who tied the knot with Ryan, 36, in a secret ceremony last September, has had it with the time her man spends in front of the tube.

“He watches 50 hours a week,” an insider tells Star. “They are not going to have kids until he kicks his habit.”

And while Blake believes paying extended attention to the screen is bad for the mind, Ryan doesn’t see the big deal.

“It’s a serious issue for them,” says the source. “They got married so fast that they didn’t have time to find out stuff like this this.”

[From Star Magazine, print edition]

I actually sat here and tried to figure out how many hours of TV I watch in any given week. I watch less TV and more DVDs in the summer, when there aren’t that many new shows on. I’m not a reality show person (I gave up Project Runway a few years ago, and I loathe those singing shows), but I do have a very serious PBS problem. I am a PBS addict. I love Frontline, Antiques Roadshow, Nature, Masterpiece and American Experience. I also had a really bad MSNBC problem during the election (but it’s waned a bit this year). So… how many hours of TV am I watching? Does the news count? If the news counts, I’m watching about 20 hours (give or take 4 hours) of TV a week. Is that bad?

Anyway, not that I believe this particular story, but Gossip Cop has “denied” it by speaking to an unnamed “Lively insider”. That only makes me believe that something is there!! Seriously, though, Ryan seems like a world-class nester. I bet he prefers to sit at home and watch TV rather than… well, anything else. Maybe Blake should get him the Gossip Girl Box Set. Or maybe he was just really, really into college basketball? A lot of dudes get obsessed with it.

Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds visit hospital, hold adorable babies: super cute?

These are some supercute photos of Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds visiting children and patients over the weekend at a hospital in Ryan’s native Canada, Health Sciences North in Sudbury, Ontario. Ryan was in town filming Queen of The Night, with Rosario Dawson. I don’t know the source of these images and it took me a long time to find them on a Facebook fan page for Blake (they’re also watermarked on The Daily Mail) but that doesn’t seem to be where they originated. (I had to use a reverse Google Image search. I credit “Catfish” for teaching me that trick, that show is fascinating.) It’s possible someone tweeted these photos, but I couldn’t locate them on the official Facebook or Twitter for the hospital.

Anyway Blake and Ryan have come out of hiding and they’ve done a nice thing! They visited this hospital and requested that there be no press or fanfare. Of course people took photos and posted them online, and Blake and Ryan happily posed for them. Geez this is giving me a warm and fuzzy feeling. Maybe it’s just Ryan’s hot beard though, damn he wears it well. Here’s more, thanks to Northern Life:

Sudbury resident Sarah Lavallee said she was nervous about meeting Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively at Health Sciences North.

Reynolds, who is married to Lively, paid a visit to Health Sciences North’s pediatric unit this past weekend. Reynolds is in town filming Atom Egoyan’s Queen of The Night.

“Ryan and Blake were both very kind to us. They introduced themselves right away and asked how my son was doing. He is only three months old, and wasn’t really able to appreciate the visit like the older children, but it’s something I can tell him about when he is older.”

She said Reynolds and Lively chatted with them and asked Lavallee how she was doing being in the hospital 24 hours a day and when her little boy might be able to go home.

“Even though he had no idea who they were, my son did give them one big smile,” she said. “It was nice to see since he wasn’t smiling a lot at that point, and I really appreciated both Ryan and Blake giving me something to smile about at such a difficult time. It was a very unexpected visit, and I thought it was especially nice of them to take pictures of me with each of them before they left.

“I can tell you the visit was really appreciated by the kids, their parents, and the staff on the unit,” hospital spokesperson Dan Lessard said in an email.

“Mr. Reynolds and Ms. Lively were wonderful with the children.”

Lessard said Reynolds’ publicity team “had requested that it be a private, low-key affair with no photos or media coverage,” so the hospital honoured their request.

[From Northern Life]

That was a nice thing for them to do! I’m thinking it was Blake’s idea, and she planned it knowing that they would get accolades for it and that Ryan would hold babies and look all fatherly. It doesn’t matter, it was still a very nice awareness-raising visit. So this begs the question, and you know people are asking it: when are Blake and Ryan going to have their own babies? You know she wants us to talk about it, she’s clever like that. Also, I now believe her after she went on in that recent interview about how she leaves her hair wet and puts it in a bun to get soft waves, and that she barely wears any makeup. She looks gorgeous, I’m just saying.

Also, note that Blake and Ryan posed for a ton of photos but they didn’t once pose together. (That top photo is just two separate pics side by side.) I wonder why that was.

Blake Lively is totally over Ryan Reynolds’ “let’s go camping!” thing

According to Star Magazine, Blake Lively is totally “over” this whole outdoorsy thing. I don’t mean to gloat, but hahaha, I told you so. I told you so originally with Scarlett Johansson too, but no one listened to me. Ryan Reynolds has a strange power over women – first of all, he attracts glamorous young women and I guess the Ryan Dong is so amazing that these women fall into the trap of pretending that they’re perfectly matched with him. Like, ScarJo pretended that she liked to hike and be outdoors and that of course she didn’t want to stay in the city and go to a party and wear a fancy dress. The same thing is happening with Blake, mark my words!

Ryan Reynolds, 36, has a real-life insistence on green, outdoorsy vacations and it has his wife, Blake Lively, 25, seeing red.

“He’s taken her camping on both of the short breaks they’ve managed to get in since their marriage in September, and Blake’s starting to worry they’ll never go on a fancy vacation again,” a close friend tells Star.

According to the source, Ryan is in danger of repeating a past mistake: his camping obsession is one of the reasons he and Scarlett Johansson never worked out!

[From Star Magazine, print edition]

I don’t know who to be angrier with – Blake for pretending she was into all of Ryan’s outdoorsy stuff or Ryan for pretending that he didn’t realize he was marrying yet another “city girl” who loved the finer things in life. Granted, I think Blake is more suited to Ryan, and maybe their happy-medium between “camping” and “living in Manhattan” is their country home. But there are still more compromises to be made if this marriage is going to work out. And I’m erring on the side of Team Lively, probably because I loathe camping. I’m not a full-on city girl, but I don’t think it’s “cute” or “enchanting” to sleep in the wilderness. Give me a bed, for the love of God.

Are Blake Lively & Ryan Reynolds already fighting over Blake’s wandering eye?

Does anyone feel like Blake Lively is drifting around, waiting for her next “project”? She spent a year making this Ryan Reynolds thing happen – and she not only got the ring (a huge pink diamond), but she got her fancy wedding too, and she got it on her terms. But does Blake ever have second thoughts about putting all of that effort into landing… Ryan Reynolds…? I mean, is he that big of a catch? Maybe to her. Maybe to some ladies. Anyway, I think Blake’s next “project” is going to be pregnancy and motherhood, followed by a glamorous (and yet “down to earth”) family life in New York for a bit. Blake is going to put her focus into that for a few years, and then after that… who knows?

Here’s what I don’t think: I don’t think Blake is a back-slider. Once she’s moved on from someone, she never looks back. So while her relationship with Penn Badgley served its purpose, she moved on in a hurry and didn’t look back. Of course, Blake and Penn still had to work together on Gossip Girl. Which might have caused some jealousy with Ryan?

Just two months after his highly romantic wedding to Blake Lively, Ryan Reynolds is acting more like the green-eyed monster! Sources tell Star that Ryan, 36, lashed out at Blake, 25, after spotting his new bride getting chummy with her ex Penn Badgley. The Gossip Girl costars have stayed friends since they broke up two years ago, yet photos of them laughing and hugging at the show’s wrap party proved too much for Ryan to handle.

“He and Blake got into a huge fight about her being so touchy with Penn,” says our insider. “Ryan told Blake that he broke off all contact with Scarlett Johansson after they split, and he expects the same from her. She doesn’t see it that way, though – she still cares about Penn as a friend, and she’s not back down.”

[From Star Magazine, print edition]

On one side, I’ve heard that Ryan is a jealous guy, so I could believe that there’s some truth to this. I also think there’s a decent chance that Scarlett Johansson fooled around on him, and like so many men that get cheated on, Ryan might have brought those issues into his relationship with Blake. But on Blake’s side… I just don’t think she’s doing anything wrong or untoward. She was just hanging out with a friend/costar/ex at the wrap party, and she’ll probably never see Penn again. Besides, Penn has a girlfriend now too – the lovely Zoe Kravitz.

PS… No, I don’t know when Blake and Ryan’s wedding photos will be coming out in Martha Stewart Weddings. It’s supposed to be the December issue, so I guess it will be out very soon.

Blake Lively wears Chanel, shows off huge pink diamond: tacky or beautiful?

These are some new photos of Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds. Last night, they attended “Chanel Fine Jewelry’s 80th anniversary of the ‘Bijoux De Diamants’ collection created by Gabrielle Chanel.” Of course Ryan and Blake did not walk the carpet together or anything. Blake walked the carpet by herself, twirling and showing off her Chanel dress and Louboutin heels. Ryan seemed to stay off the carpet, walking into the event separately (with a poorly dressed girl who I can’t ID).

Thoughts on Blake’s dress? When I first looked through the photos, I assumed she was wearing Chanel because it was a Chanel event, but I still had a moment of “Damn, is she wearing Marchesa?” Because that’s who Blake Lively is – she’s the girl who can make Chanel look like Marchesa. She doesn’t want to admit it. Anna Wintour doesn’t want to admit it. Karl Lagerfeld doesn’t want to admit it. But Blake’s “look” is just so downmarket, she makes expensive Chanel couture look like Marchesa ice-skater bulls—t.

Blake was also showing off her giant engagement ring too. I’m searching for the best photos we have of it… FOUND THEM! It looks really, really pink in these photos. And I’m glad Blake got a manicure for the major red carpet debut. Also: Blake’s ring is huge, but it’s still smaller than Jennifer Aniston’s quartz rock.

Ryan Reynolds & Blake Lively are “ridiculously in love,” he loves her “comfort”

In case you missed it yesterday, I ended up updating that story about Blake and her phantom baby bump. Page Six had a source who claimed that Blake was eating more than usual on the set of Gossip Girl, and that she was “glowing”… which obviously means BABY. Blake’s rep shut it down hard and fast, telling Gossip Cop that the Page Six story was “completely untrue” within hours of Page Six’s publication. So, what does that mean? Blake isn’t selling you babies. Yet. She’s selling you the ideas of babies, because she’s so young and fertile and she’ll get pregnant soon, but right now she’s just so crazy in-love and baking and food and BABIES! It’s a circular argument, you see? Anyway, Us Weekly managed to get a “tip” on how Ryan Reynolds loves the crap out of Blake’s happy-homemaker routine.

In Ryan Reynolds’ eyes — okay, in most guys’ eyes — Blake Lively is the total package.

The low-key duo and Green Lantern costars — who tied the knot in an intimate, top-secret Charleston, SC ceremony September 9 — first bonded during quiet date nights at Lively’s NYC apartment, where the actress showed off her culinary prowess. (“I love, love to bake!” Lively told Us Weekly last year.)

“Ryan loves the comfort Blake provides,” an insider tells Us. “It’s like, ‘You were on the cover of Vogue and you want to cook me dinner? Yes, please!’”

Echoes another source, “They are ridiculously in love.”

On Thursday, Lively, 25, headed back to work on the set of Gossip Girl in NYC, where two things were noticeably absent — her wedding ring, and that baby bump everyone has been on the lookout for.

That morning, her rep slammed a report in The New York Post’s Page Six that the actress and Reynolds, 35, are expecting, calling the rumors “completely untrue.”

Though she’s not pregnant now, kids might not be too far off for the head-over-heels newlyweds.

“I’ve always wanted a big family,” Lively told the October issue of Allure. “Oh, I’d love 30 [children] if I could.”

[From Us Weekly]

Here’s the thing – I think this is probably true. We can debate whether or not Blake’s happy-homemaker routine is for real, but I have no doubt that Ryan enjoys the way Blake is (or how she acts around him), and she must seem worlds more stable than Scarlett Johansson.

I’ve been actively avoiding using ScarJo’s name in all of these Blake and Ryan posts, but this Us Weekly story is ABOUT ScarJo and how Blake is so much better for Ryan than ScarJo. And that gives me mixed feelings, like I actually feel sympathetic towards ScarJo (who really doesn’t NEED my sympathy). For one, Scarlett was really young when she got together with Ryan. I’m not infantilizing her, I’m just saying… I think she was trying on the “wife/partner in a serious relationship” persona, and I’ve always felt like Scarlett got tired of playing that role pretty quickly, and her real personality came out. I think Ryan sees himself as a stable, conservative (conservative meaning “not crazy, not a womanizer”) dude who wants a family, and women that date him tend to tailor their personalities to fit with that. ScarJo couldn’t keep up the façade. As for Blake… either it’s not a façade and this is what she’s really like, or she’ll outgrow this happy-homemaker phase in a few years too.

Here are Blake’s Gucci ads again, just because how do we know that this marriage isn’t just some promotional scam for Gucci? HOW?

Blake Lively & her publicist criticize People Mag for crashing Blake’s wedding

Everything about Blake Lively is “bold” these days. I mean that seriously. Blake and Ryan Reynolds were married in a secret ceremony in South Carolina eight days ago, and the tabloids are still playing catch-up, because in a bold move, Blake barely leaked anything about the wedding. Blake and Ryan didn’t sell or give away their wedding photos to People Mag or Us Weekly either. Instead, in a bold move, Blake had her wedding styled and organized by Martha Stewart’s people, and the wedding photos will appear exclusively in the December issue of Martha Stewart Weddings. So not only did Blake wedding-block the tabloids, she gave away her exclusive to a prestigious and well-read monthly magazine. And in another BOLD move, Blake and her publicist are taking PEOPLE MAG to task for their cover lie on last week’s cover.

While People magazine is viewed as the veritable bulletin board for publicists’ handouts, the celebrity weekly has drawn the ire of Blake Lively’s team for this week’s cover about her wedding to Ryan Reynolds, which gleefully blared, “People Was There!”

But a source in Blake’s camp sniped, “No, People was not there, unless you count an uninvited photographer sitting on a boat sneaking shots.”

We’re told Lively was concerned that the cover line gave the impression that she had sold her wedding pictures to the weekly, which has recently officially featured the wedding of Drew Barrymore and also Matthew McConaughey.

A Lively rep confirmed, “People was not there, no pictures were sold.”

[From Page Six]

So Blake and her publicist are basically picking a fight with PEOPLE MAG. I cannot emphasis enough how bold that move is. If you’re a celebrity and you don’t like something that People Mag does, you know what happens? Not much. It’s People – the most powerful gossip and celebrity news outlet out there. If you don’t like their coverage (and you’re a celebrity), you simply call your publicist and work something out with People’s editors, a tit for tat to get better coverage. If you’re a celebrity, you basically NEVER publicly call out People Mag for acting like a tabloid, for trying to crash your wedding. Maybe Blake thinks that she doesn’t need People. Maybe she’s just trying to flaunt how important she is now. I don’t know. It will be interesting to see if People’s editors address the issue somehow.
