In a battle between two desperate, trashy, budget, famewh-re hussies, who would you put your money on, Shanna Moakler or Khloe Kardashian? I’m thinking Khloe. Just because she’s… bigger, shall we say? Shanna looks scrappy and mean, but Khloe would probably overwhelm her with brute force. I bring this up because it looks like there’s a C-list war brewing. Apparently, Shanna referred to Khloe as a “donkey”. And Khloe responded with something that sounded a lot like “shut up you stupid bitch I don’t even care wah wah”. Anyway, now Shanna wants us to know that she’s “sorry” for the donkey comment. She also wants us to know that the C-list “Battle of Oxygen Thieves” has been brewing for a while… who knew?
Shanna Moakler has put away the cat claws.
During a recent appearance on The Wendy Williams Show, Moakler, 34, called Khloe Kardashian, 25, a “donkey.”
Kardashian responded via Twitter: “I have no idea who this girl is but I guess she is talking about me. Talk on honey… I can care less LOL”.
When contacted by Usmagazine.com, Moakler expressed regret. “I feel really bad. I shouldn’t have said it,” she tells Us. “It was just an off-the-cuff statement.”
Moalker said she “was being gossipy, but it’s not a big secret that the Kardashians and I don’t really get along. I don’t care.”
She added that she “wasn’t there to talk about them. I was there to talk about me being officially back as co-executive director of the Miss California Pageant, hosting the pageant this year and my new makeup line.”
Now, here’s the thing: I hate defending Khloe, but I do it on occasion. I can’t help it, I feel bad for her. She doesn’t seem like a good person or anything, but I just think people should make fun of her for the things she does, the things she says, and her general personality. I don’t like when people make fun of her looks, probably because I don’t find her as grotesque as some do. Sure, she’s not pretty in the conventional sense. But just because she’s a big girl and she’s not God’s gift, that doesn’t make her a “donkey.” Ugh, I hate defending her.

Yesterday former Miss California and Miss USA runner up Carrie Prejean filed a probably frivolous lawsuit against the Miss California pageant for making the details of her eventual firing public. Prejean claimed that her title was stripped because of her answer at the Miss USA pageant against gay marriage, and solely for that. Miss California Pageant directors made a clear and compelling case that Prejean was skipping out on her responsibilities, including refusing to communicate with them and missing event appearances. In case you were wondering if there was any reason to believe Carrie’s side of the story over the Miss California pageant, just read some of these very rude, very dismissive e-mails she sent to pageant director Keith Lewis. Those e-mails, in which she wrote things like “Stop speaking for me. I have MY own voice.” and “What are u gonna do fire me for volunteering for the special olympics hahaha ur crazy No I am doing this appearance,” were dated after she was given a second chance with Miss California, courtesy of Donald Trump. The comb-over king was initially so blinded by her pretty face that he was unable to see that spiteful things spewing out of it.
The other Miss California pageant director, Shanna Moakler, resigned her position when Carrie was first forgiven by Donald Trump. Moakler has issued a response through her lawyer to Carrie’s lawsuit, essentially saying that the girl made her bed and will have to lay in it. I love how blunt Moakler is in this statement, saying “Ms. Prejean’s unfortunate and bigoted statements are responsible for any public humiliation or damages to her reputation that she has claimed to have suffered.”
Fallen beauty queen Carrie Prejean sued the Miss California USA pageant and co-executive director Shanna Moakler on Monday alleging religious discrimination, drawing a sharp rebuke from Moakler’s camp.
“On Ms. Moakler’s behalf, I can say unequivocally that Ms. Prejean’s lawsuit is without merit,” says Mel Avanzado, Moakler’s lawyer.
“More importantly, as everyone who watched or read her public statements is well aware, Ms. Prejean’s unfortunate and bigoted statements are responsible for any public humiliation or damages to her reputation that she has claimed to have suffered,” Avanzado added. “Ms. Moakler strenuously denies that she did anything wrong and looks forward to proving that in a court of law.”
Prejean was fired in June by pageant officials who cited missed scheduled appearances. But an attorney for Prejean says his client was ousted because of her anti-gay marriage stance. In April, during the Miss USA pageant, she stated that marriage should be between a man and a woman.
Prejean, 22, is also suing for libel and slander, and also names co-executive director Keith Lewis and publicist Roger Neal in the lawsuit.
As Kaiser noted yesterday, Prejean’s lawsuit isn’t going anywhere. There’s way too much evidence that she violated her contract over and over again. Having watched Moakler and Lewis’ impassioned press conference detailing the ways that Prejean had violated her contract – with several sets of nude photos she failed to disclose, with a public endorsement of an outside agency, and by failing to get in contact with them for weeks, I have to say there’s little chance this lawsuit will go forward. This woman just wants to get her name in the press again, and she’s succeeding, but she’s also continuing to show what a self-centered creature she is. It’s all about her and how she was wronged. I hope she’s saddled with legal bills from both sides, and maybe that will give her something to really whine about.

Who are the worst celebrity parents in the world? There’s a long list to pull from, but I’d say the constant drama surrounding Travis Barker and Shanna Moakler puts them right near the top. The constantly feuding ex-couple will say and do just about anything to each other. Then a few weeks later they’re photographed all over each other at a club. This is the epitome of a love/hate relationship. Though they both have volatile tempers, I think the general consensus is that Travis is the better parent. Certainly that was the impression given on their old reality show “Meet the Barkers.”
Travis and Shanna have been talking some major smack about each other on their Twitters. Because heaven forbid you’re a celebrity and don’t tweet the intimate details of your messed up relationships. First, TMZ’s account of what went down between Travis and Shanna – all regarding a pedophile.
Finally some clarity about Monday’s epic battle between Travis Barker and Shanna Moakler — cops have released the dramatic report from the incident that centered around a convicted child molester.
According to the Barrington Police, the drama began when Travis went to Shanna’s Rhode Island home to drop off their two kids. When Travis noticed a car belonging to a convicted child molester near the home, he got into an argument with Shanna — and she called the cops.
When police arrived, Travis told police he didn’t “want to leave the kids in the residence with a pedophile and wanted a certified nanny with the kids.”
Cops read the court order explaining the custody agreement between the couple, which stated that the man who owned the car was not allowed near the kids. But when they checked Moakler’s home and discovered he was not there, Barker agreed to leave as long as he was given the names and numbers of the two nannies staying with the kids.
After the deal was made, cops say Shanna asked about how to get a restraining order. It doesn’t say who she was trying to restrain, but after Travis posted a message on his Twitter page calling his wife a piece of … well, another word for excrement … you could probably figure it out.
When I read the first part of this story I thought the child molester was someone who lived in the neighborhood and was known to people (thus why Travis recognized his car). But then I realized this is obviously a guy Shanna knows in some way, because he’s mentioned in their divorce papers. He’s been some sort of issue in the past. And yeah the cops didn’t actually find the man in the home, but there was enough reason to believe it was possible that they searched for him. It seems like Shanna is in some way keeping company with a pedophile. She has two little children – son Landon, 5, and daughter Alabama, 3. I cannot even imagine what’s going through her mind. Obviously I’m filling in a few holes with suppositions, but they seem reasonable.
Of course both Shanna and Travis took to their Twitters to share cryptic sentences about what went down. Here’s what Travis had to say:
Rhode Island police are cool as hell, thanks for keeping child molesters away. On my way to NYC.

http://twitpic.com/f8cha – Would u leave your kids at a house where a child molesters(Rick Sinnott) car was present? Me neither. The REAL reason the cops were involved yesterday. So lame bloggers step your game up with the facts.

Figured I’d clear up the rumors that surfaced from that lame website ran by that guy/girl/creature/coward that got socked up not 2 long ago.

Travis obviously deleted the comment directly about Shanna, which said “My babies mama is a pile of [sh*t].” Maybe he came to his senses on his own and decided not to talk smack about the mother of his children, at least for his kids’ sake. But he’s still understandably riled up about the child molester, who he names in his Twitter as Rick Sinnott. He also posted a picture of Sinnott’s license plate. Looking the guy up, there’s a “moose whisperer” by the same name who appears to dominate most of the web chatter. I’m assuming it’s not the same guy.
Shanna didn’t directly address the incident via her Twitter, though she may have made a Ghandi-based jab (or “Gandh,” as she spelled it) at Barker:
my babies are on their way to me NOW! I haven’t seen them for 4 weeks! I am SOOOO excited!

I feel like I need to phrase all this very carefully because no one has out-and-out said “Shanna Moakler had a pedophile in her home as her kids were arriving.” And I can’t imagine many things worse to accuse someone of. It seems like when you put the pieces together, that’s what went down, but everything is circumstantial. I can’t imagine what she was possibly thinking or what kind of explanation she could give, which is probably why she hasn’t addressed it in any way. She’s not exactly known for taking the high road either. Travis was the one who got in a little trouble (being “warned” by the police), but it seems like Shanna’s the one who did something reprehensible.

In Mid May, the co-directors of the Miss California Pageant, Shanna Moakler and Keith Lewis, held a compelling press conference outlining the ways that Miss California Carrie Prejean had violated her contract with the organization. It wasn’t about her statements against same sex marriage during the Miss USA Pageant, but about the fact that she became the spokesperson for another group and failed to contact the pageant for almost a month after she catapulted to fame. (If you have some time, the seven and a half minute video of the press conference is worth watching.)
The day after Moakler and Lewis’ impassioned press conference, Donald Trump announced that Prejean would retain her crown. Trump’s statements at the time focused on Prejean’s attractiveness and on the fact that she had every right to express her opinion, something that Moakler and Lewis didn’t dispute. He also made several cringe-worthy remarks like “If her beauty wasn’t so great, nobody really would have cared [about her answer to the gay marriage question.]”
Then yesterday we heard that Prejean’s crown got taken away after all, after she repeatedly failed to fulfill her duties for the pageant and eventually managed to piss off Trump. He realized what Moakler and Lewis meant when they said she was unwilling to work with them, and explained “To me she was the sweetest thing. Everyone else — she treated like sh*t.”
Now that Trump has come around and fired Prejean, Moakler wants everyone to know that she wants her job back with the Miss California pageant. It’s not like she’s doing a hell of lot else other than reconciling and feuding with her ex husband.
What’s more is that Prejean still thinks she was fired for her opinion against gay marriage, not the multiple ways that she violated her contract and failed to do her job:
Carrie Prejean claims it was her answer during April’s Miss USA pageant about gay marriage that led to her ultimately being stripped of the Miss California title on Wednesday.
Access Hollywood’s Billy Bush broke the news to the beauty queen about her dethroning during a phone call for “The Billy Bush” show and in addition to saying she was surprised by the news, Prejean said the decision made by the Miss California Organization, and supported by Miss Universe pageant owner Donald Trump, was due to her expressing her view that marriage should be between a man and a woman. Prejean shared her views in answer to a question from Perez Hilton during the Miss USA competition.
“That’s the first that I’ve heard of it Billy,” Prejean said of her firing. “It’s just because of my answer, I think. None of this would be happening right now if I just said, ‘Yeah, gays should get married. You’re right Perez Hilton.”
As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, on Wednesday, Miss California USA Executive Director Keith Lewis said in a statement that Prejean was fired from her post “based solely on contract violations including Ms. Prejean’s unwillingness to make appearances on behalf of the Miss California USA Organization.”
When asked about communication between herself and the organization, Prejean said they have been talking and she has been making appearances as Miss California.
“I’ve tried to reach out to them and I’ve done several appearances and I’m gonna be presenting at the Special Olympics this weekend as an honorary guest,” she said, revealing she was on her way to an appearance in San Diego when she spoke to Bush. “I mean, I’ve been cooperating with them. I don’t see why this is happening. This is the first I’ve heard of it.”
There’s even more to this story – Prejean told TMZ that she rejected offers from pageant directors to do Playboy and to go on “I’m a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here.” Pageant director Keith Lewis admitted to TMZ that he did tell Carrie about the Playboy offer, but said it was only because she asked him to let her know about every offer before turning anything down. She’s posed topless a few times so you could see why Lewis thought she might go for the easy cash with Playboy.
I saw Prejean on Good Morning America a few days after that huge controversy over the answer she gave during the pageant. She came across as personable, friendly and honest about her opinion. I don’t agree with her, but I think she has every right to her opinion and didn’t think she expressed it in a disrespectful way.
I don’t buy the fact that she was fired for not doing Playboy or for having a controversial opinion, though. If you read the e-mails she sent that were partially published on TMZ, she was super rude. You could tell that Moakler and Lewis were fed up with her a month ago after trying in vain to get in touch with her. She continued to shirk her responsibilities and eventually got canned. It hasn’t been about her opinion for some time.

My respect for Shanna Moakler recently increased significantly in light of her response to the whole Carrie Prejean scandal. She was articulate and intelligent in her reasons for leaving her position as co-director of the Miss California USA pageant. But that doesn’t mean that she makes good decisions at home. Shanna, who had a “divorce party” for herself after she and ex-husband Travis Barker split (complete with a wedding cake with a bleeding groom on top) has never had much luck in the love department, and her relationship with Travis is far from functional. After Travis survived a tragic plane crash along with DJ AM, the couple decided to remarry. Nothing like a near-death experience to make you value the people in your life. Travis also threw Shanna a huge birthday smash for her 34th. But soon after, photos came out of Shanna macking on Gerard Butler and the wedding was called off. Shanna, of course, denied the cheating rumors through the press.
Travis Barker also seems to have some maturity issues, as he too is using the media, specifically his Twitter account, to lash out at his ex. In his recent tweets, he has accused Shanna of being a “deadbeat mom” who is only looking for “attention and money,” and who doesn’t spend time with her kids.
In the latest round of fighting, Travis decided he wanted to take a shot at the mother of his children. He did so via a Twitter because, what good is it trashing your wife unless you can let the world in on your loathing.
“Kids are not to be used as weapons. Deadbeat moms that sleep all day, seeking money, attention like 2 do so. Just hurts the kids in the end.”
That was his first blast of the day and what he is forgetting is that he has now told his kids that he considers their mom to be a deadbeat who is lazy and wants nothing more than attention. I’m not sure that doesn’t hurt your kids in the end, but hey, Travis knows best right?
Apparently he still had another 140 characters in him because he followed up with that message with this one a short time later.
“Giving birth 2 a child doesn’t make u a good mom. Taking care of them, loving them, waking up with them, spending time with them does.”
I checked out Shanna and Travis‘ Twitter accounts, and I found some interesting back-and-forth between fans. A few days ago, Shanna commented that ” ‘Sometimes love comes around and it knocks you down…just get back up, when it knocks u down’ – keri hilson.” Then a fan of Travis’ told him that she hoped he and Shanna were still friends, and Travis responded that “The female who said it is lucky i don’t put her on blast. She likes the attention or i would. Glad i am rid of her now.” But now Travis has put her on blast.
The maturity level here is really incredible. Fighting publicly about your ex-spouse’s ability to take care of your children is such a low blow. In the end, it’s the Twitter that hurts the kids.

Shanna Moakler, the co-director of the Miss California USA pageant, has resigned after being all smiles as Trump announced that he would allow Carrie Prejean to keep her crown. We told you earlier today that Shanna gave sound bytes about the decision that made it seem as if she had forgiven Carrie and was ready to move on. Shanna claimed that it was never about Carrie’s political views or photos themselves, but the fact that she had violated her contract with the pageant.
But it’s clear with the resignation that all of Shanna’s smiles were fake.
Oh the irony. Shanna Moakler just resigned as pageant director for the Miss California USA pageant, after Donald Trump told the world how Shanna and crew have mended fences with “biblically correct” Miss California USA Carrie Prejean. Just another one of those pesky lies.
Here’s the statement Shanna released to Us Magazine:
“Since the press conference yesterday, I had a chance to think about what has taken place, and I feel that at this time it is in my best interest to resign from the Miss California USA organization.
I cannot with a clear conscious move forward supporting and promoting the Miss Universe Organization when I no longer believe in it, or the contracts I signed committing myself as a youth. I want to be a role model for young women with high hopes of pageantry, but now feel it more important to be a role model for my children. I am sorry and hope I have not let any young supporters down but wish them the best of luck in fulfilling their dreams.”
I was talking to Celebitchy, and she said that she is not at all surprised that Shanna Moakler resigned. And really, it was only a matter of time. Moakler was very vocal about her disappointment in Prejean’s comments at the pageant, and clearly she has a different vision of what a pageant winner should be. She wrote in her blog that “[Miss USA] is a ambassador, a role model and needs to be able to show diplomacy on all issues. sadly for California THIS is where we lost the crown. Not for her answer or even her beliefs, [but] because she wasn’t able to convey compassion for ALL the people that as MISS USA she would be representing.” I have to say I completely agree.
Love her or hate her, Shanna has guts, and she’s basically rubbing the decision in Trump’s face. Letting Carrie keep her crown was all about publicity, and Shanna is willing to stand up for what she believes beauty pageants should be. You have to at least give her credit for that.
Miss California Pageant directors and current title holder Carrie Prejean have mended fences in their battle over whether Prejean should retain on her crown. On Monday Pageant directors Shanna Moakler and Keith Lewis held a press conference describing the ways that Prejean had violated her contract with the pageant. It wasn’t about her views on same sex marriage, but that Prejean had become a spokesperson for an anti-gay marriage organization against pageant regulations. She also failed to disclose semi-nude photos and had not contacted pageant directors or responded to their messages.
Despite all the strikes against her, pageant owner Donald Trump announced with great fanfare yesterday that Prejean would retain her title. He focused on her statements on gay marriage and the semi-nude photos as if those were the main issues instead of the fact that she violated her contract on several counts. Trump also made a bunch of comments on how pretty Prejean is, with the cringe-worthy dismissal that “If her beauty wasn’t so great, no one would have really cared” about her remarks on same sex marriage.
Now it’s up to Moakler and Lewis to decide if they’re going to let go of their well-argued issues with Prejean and make nice or hold on to a grudge and probably get replaced. It looks like they all decided to make nice. It also sounds like we won’t be seeing Prejean in commercials extolling the virtues of opposite marriage, since they say that she’s going to “stay true to the contract”:
“Thanks to Donald Trump, we were able to have a meeting with Miss Prejean and her family alone for the first time since the pageant,” Moakler, the co-executive director of the California pageant, tells PEOPLE. “We were able to sit down and communicate and vent our frustrations. I am confident that she will stay true to the contract. I’m looking forward to returning to L.A. and starting fresh.”
After the New York meeting, which also included the other California pageant chair, Keith Lewis, The Donald, who co-owns the Miss Universe Organization, announced Tuesday that Prejean will continue to reign as Miss California USA and Miss USA runner-up despite a spate of bad publicity.
Moakler tells PEOPLE the meeting allowed them to clear the air with Prejean, who angered many when she said she was against same-sex marriage and when semi-nude photos of her surfaced after her win.
“Our issue was never about her opinions about same-sex marriage or the pictures,” says Moakler. “Our issue was with her complying with our agreement. When you sign the contract, we ask you to show us everything you are being offered. That wasn’t happening. After the pageant, we lost control of our titleholder.”
Contestants in the pageant are required to sign a 12-page document that, among several clauses, ensures that they conduct themselves “in accordance with the highest ethical and moral standards” and avoid making personal appearances, granting interviews or making commercials without authorization from pageant officials.
I’m really glad there’s no grudge there, because as interesting as this story was it’s time for it to die now. If Moakler and Lewis continued to try and strip Prejean of her title we would be hearing about it for weeks. Now Prejean can go back to being known for being prettier than average, because that’s really what beauty pageants are about. It just gets out of hand when politics are added to the mix.
Here are photos from yesterday’s press conference, thanks to WENN.com. The Donald looks so much like an Oompa Loompa it’s eerie.
Yesterday Miss California Pageant co-directors Shanna Moakler and Keith Lewis held a compelling press conference outlining the ways that Miss USA runner up Carrie Prejean has violated her contract. They don’t have the deciding vote as to whether Carrie will be stripped of her crown, and were just airing their grievances along with giving a public recommendation to pageant owner Donald Trump, who will make his ruling known today at 11am EST.
The press conference was full of drama, with Lewis impassionately discussing the reasons that Carrie should no longer represent the organization. He was pissed off and you could tell they wanted to go on record and pressure Trump to take her title away. Moakler was haughty, talking about her qualifications in her introduction. She declared “I am now Shanna Moakler, ex-beauty queen, California director, actress, mom and most of all my own person.” It was the most entertaining press conference I’ve ever seen and there was a lot of feeling and frustration behind the statements.
It all boils down to the way that Prejean repeatedly and publicly violated the rules, including failing to disclose the fact that she had posed for semi-clothed photos, and especially becoming a spokesperson for an anti-gay marriage association. The Miss California Pageant contract stipulates that title holders must not represent other organizations without permission:
On admitting they paid for her boob job
Lewis: We did not leak personal medical information. We instead did not lie when we were asked a direct question, and accepted our role, even if it caused some people to criticize.
On the semi-clothed photos, which Carrie did not discuss with Pageant directors
Lewis: We saw the photo in question, and follow-up photo, that Carrie has claimed to not authentic [sic], at the very same time as the public. As a matter-of-fact, up until now, we have just been riding along pretty much a passenger on this runaway train, but as of today, that ends.
On the nude photo: severity of nudity is not the issue
Moakler: When you decide to enter Miss California USA you are given a document that asks for full disclosure. It does not say that any disclosed violation will result in your ineligibility. In contrast, it says “tell us, and we will evaluate the situation before determining eligibility.” For us, the severity of nudity in the one photo Carrie Prejean has admitted is her is not the issue. The fact that she entered a pageant and admitted it, is… She in fact entered the contest under false pretense.
On Prejean’s public endorsement of a same-sex marriage organization
Moakler: No one knows the difference between the comments, endorsements and activities of Carrie Prejean from those of the Miss California USA Title. That is why her contract forbids such activities without our written consent. In spite of that, she has recorded a telemarketing message that is calling for donations and signatures to protect marriage. Regardless we have never asked her to apologize or recant her opinions or her beliefs.
On Prejean shirking her responsibilities and failing to contact them
Moakler: Accepting the title comes with the responsibility to represent everyone in her state, not just those who share her opinion. It comes with an obligation to fulfill the duties of the job and to the people who paid to help get her ready for Miss USA at great expense and sacrifice. You have a responsibility to adhere to the regulations you agreed to when you accepted all the prizes, support and notoriety of the title.
Carrie has been unavailable to us, to her sponsors and to her responsibilities of Miss California USA because of her commitment to outside organizations.
[Transcribed from Press Conference with Miss California Pageant co-directors given 5/11/09, video above]
Then Lewis chimed in again, it’s at about 3:30 into the video above, and had a stern message for the organizations that courted Prejean’s public endorsement, as if they lured her into becoming a spokeswoman against same sex marriage without her full knowledge of the implications. He said “shame” multiple times, scorning them in a frustrated tone:
Lewis: Shame for taking this young woman and exploiting her to further your own agenda… Shame for doing it all the while knowing that you placed her in a position where she stood to possibly lose her crown, not for her beliefs… but for the breach of contract you so willingly encouraged. How sad that your message is so isolating that you reach out and grab any glimmer of an ally with no proper investigation or preparation even if it means destroying a young woman for your own good.
[Transcribed from Press Conference with Miss California Pageant co-directors given 5/11/09, video above]
Lewis got personal then, and called out the other organization Carrie represents, The Insitute for Marriage, saying that director Maggie Gallagher pocketed 42% of all donations given to the organization in 2007 but that “you still have the nerve to say that Mr. Trump is trying to silence free speech by stopping your NOM commercial. Use of copyrighted footage from Miss USA, that you’re using as a fundraising tool? Sounds like someone is looking for a free ride… It’s time for you to find someplace new to recruit your henchmen.”
A “Beauty of California ambassador” was named in preparation to succeed Prejean
A new “Beauty of California ambassador,” Miss California runner-up Tami Farrel was named. This was undoubtedly a nudge to Trump to let him know that another, less controversial contestant is ready to step in as Prejean’s successor, just in case he decides to take Prejean’s crown. Yesterday it was widely anticipated that he would side in Prejean’s favor, as he made positive statements about her and made it seem like her activities weren’t a big deal. He also let Miss USA Tara Conner keep her crown after a 2006 scandal in which she failed a drug test and was photographed kissing Miss Teen USA. If Trump lets Prejean keep her title now we’ll know for sure that he’s going against the wishes of the Miss California Pageant directors.
This woman has received more publicity for her statements than any beauty contestant in recent history and it doesn’t seem like it will affect her career much if they take away her crown. She wants to be an ambassador for opposite marriage, and plenty of groups are willing to embrace her with or without the Miss California title.
New topless photos of Prejean from another photoshoot are on TMZ
I wrote this whole article when I found new, nearly full topless photos supposedly of Prejean on TMZ. I’ll spare you a whole separate article about this and we’ll just talk about it here. It doesn’t look like her to me, and while the woman looks similar it’s hard to tell if it’s her.
Her previous photos had her covering her chest and were more on the level of a men’s magazine type of “nudity,” but these new photos, taken pre-breast augmentation, show her in a vest with her top exposed. I don’t think nude photos should disqualify pageant contenders and these aren’t scandalous or anything, but Carrie failed to disclose that any of these pictures existed and then went on to fib about when the last set of photos was taken. She also represented another organization against the terms of her contract with Miss California.
I have no problem with her expressing her opinion on same sex marriage. I think she handled herself well both during the pageant and in her first interview on The Today Show afterwards. I don’t agree with her but feel that she has the right to express her opinion. If she violated her agreement with the pageant, though, she should face the consequences. The co-chairs obviously feel strongly that her title should be revoked, even if Trump may think it’s ok to bend the rules.
Shanna Moakler, the co-director of the Miss California pageant and a former pageant queen herself, confirmed to Access Hollywood that the CA pageant paid for Carrie Prejean’s fake boobs. Carrie went under the knife only weeks before the Miss USA pageant, and Shanna says she supported Carrie’s decision on silicone, even if she disapproves of her views on gay marriage.
“Did you guys pay for it?” Billy [Bush of Access Hollywood] asked Shanna directly.
“Yes,” Shanna said. “We did.”
The organization paid for Carrie’s breast enhancement prior to her competing in the Miss USA pageant, which was held in Las Vegas, almost two weeks ago.
“It was something that we all spoke about together,” Shanna said referring to herself, Carrie and Keith Lewis, Shanna’s co-executive director. “It was an option and she wanted it. And we supported that decision.”
Shanna, a former Miss USA herself, defended the Miss California Organization’s decision to pay for the elective surgery.
“Breast implants in pageants is not a rarity. It’s definitely not taboo. It’s very common. Breast implants today among young women today is very common. I don’t personally have them, but you know — they are,” she added.
Shanna also comments that she and the other CA pageant directors haven’t been able to get a hold of Carrie since the Miss USA pageant in Las Vegas. Carrie keeps referring questions to her mother or to her PR person. And it sounds like she hasn’t been fulfilling her duties as Miss CA after the scandal.
Say what you want about Shanna Moakler, but she’s got a pretty good head on her shoulders. She makes sure that everyone knows her views, but she’s also not condemning (at least in public) of people who have differing opinions.
“We’ve tried really hard [to get in contact] and she keeps referring us to her mother and her PR person,” Shanna claimed. “That’s also sad for me… because, you know, there’s no hate here. I don’t hate Carrie Prejean. I supported her and I still stand behind her.”
When asked if stripping Carrie of her crown was a possibility, Shanna said they need to see how things work out.
“I don’t want to fire her! I think she’s a great, young girl, and I got into pageants, because I want to help young girls. I want to guide young girls. I know what pageants [did] for me and I know what it can do for young women and also working within the community,” Shanna said.
“I don’t want to fire Carrie. I want her to use her platform, because this is her platform, I didn’t know she was this passionate about it… I’m glad I know now and I support and will help her, but…” she trailed off.
“Since you can’t communicate, when do you say, ‘Alright, come back and follow the Miss California itinerary and get on board or we’re going to fire you?’” Billy asked.
“I guess we’re all going to have to wait and see how that plays out because I don’t have the answers for that,” Shanna said.
Everyone’s thinking it, so I’m just going to come out and say it: she wasn’t happy with the body God gave her?
I had suspected that Carrie had fake boobs, but didn’t want to jump to any conclusions. But this confirms that she is just as fake and vapid as I thought she was. The surprising part is that she decided to get implants so close before the Miss USA pageant. You’d think that she would want to look consistent throughout the season – right? It saddens me when these girls prance around on stage looking so unnatural. I went through all fifty contestants on the Miss USA website, and the girls that I thought were the most beautiful were the ones with real breasts, real intelligence, and real smiles. Carrie has none of these. It’s a little disappointing.
When you start agreeing with Shanna Moakler, is it time to take a break? Because I’m there. Shanna Moakler, wife of Travis Barker, the slut who was all over Gerard Butler, and former Miss USA has spoken out about Miss California’s anti-gay marriage stance. Her written blog statement is actually one of the most nuanced, articulate, passionate opinions I’ve read about this whole “scandal”.
First, some background. Shanna had a part in this year’s ceremony. As a former Miss USA and resident of California, Shanna was the pageant director for the Miss California competition. As such, Shanna had promoted Carrie Prejean extensively before the Miss USA pageant. Shanna and Carrie have spent time together, and Shanna says she knows and likes her, despite their difference of opinion regarding gay marriage. Shanna says unequivocally that she “will not abandon our reigning Miss California.”
However, Shanna goes on to give one of the best explanations for why Miss California lost the Miss USA crown, and why she should have lost it. Shanna writes: “[Miss USA] is a ambassador, a role model and needs to be able to show diplomacy on all issues. sadly for California THIS is where we lost the crown. Not for her answer or even her beliefs, [but] because she wasn’t able to convey compassion for ALL the people that as MISS USA she would be representing. and if YOU like it or not, gays and lesbians make up this country as well. THIS is why we have judges so they can find the RIGHT woman who obtains these qualities. The panel of judges was qualified and did their job, they represented all of us, men, woman, black, white, gay and straight.” Jesus, I think I have something in my eye. Shanna Moakler just made me believe in the honor of the Miss USA pageant.
This weekend, Miss California, Carrie Prejean, started a whirlwind of controversy by her response in the interview portion of the Miss USA pageant, when she said marriage should only be between a man and a woman. Perez Hilton had asked whether more states should allow gay marriage, and why or why not.
While news pundits and experts are busy debating and interviewing Prejean, a tried and true pageant expert, former Miss USA Shanna Moakler, is also weighing in on her blog.
As the pageant director the Miss California competition, Shanna had been promoting Prejean in Las Vegas leading up to the event, and now she feels the need to clear things up from her perspective.
“Well, I just got back from a interview at CBS, and I can say after not sleeping for about 2 days and trying to sum up emotions in a 30 second interview wasn’t easy, I wanted to take to my blog so I can put into words my thoughts and feelings, I find writing is best for me anyway,” she writes on her official blog.
“First, I want to be clear on the fact, that I have NOT and will not abandon our reigning Miss California, thou I have a STRONG difference of opinion, I do NOT hate her, nor do I have any issue with her stating her opinion, she is not the first conservative christian titleholder to be in pageants. I agree with the majority that this IS what makes our country great and that is of course freedom of speech. She was asked a questioned and she answered it.”
“But I want to explain to the masses, what the TITLE of Miss USA stands for to me, and being a former Miss USA, I feel I have a pretty good sense of it. Miss USA travels the world and she competes at the Miss UNIVERSE pageant as a representation of her country. She is a ambassador, a role model and needs to be able to show diplomacy on all issues. sadly for California THIS is where we lost the crown. Not for her answer or even her beliefs, because again, sadly IN California her beliefs at this point in time are the majority. But she lost the crown because she wasn’t able to convey compassion for ALL the people that as MISS USA she would be representing. and if YOU like it or not, gays and lesbians make up this country as well. THIS is why we have judges so they can find the RIGHT woman who obtains these qualities. they are crucial in my eyes when holding a honor and title as big as being Miss USA. The panel of judges was qualified and did their job, they represented all of us, men, woman, black, white, gay and straight.”
“I think Miss California’s willingness to stand by her convictions and (in my eyes, simply made the question more personal then it needed to be), has in essence made a great positive impact cause it has brought a issue important to me to the for front of the media and that is civil rights. I have blogged and petitioned for gay rights in the past and if anything positive can come out of this, It’s that it has people talking and we need to have people talking and we need MANY conversations on this topic to take place, especially in the state of California and with Prop 8.”
“I do however want to apologize to the men and woman who have continually supported the Miss California USA pageant. I know some were hurt and felt a sense of betrayal, but I thank you for your understanding, communication, love and continued support. shannaxoxo Health, Wealth and equality for all.”
Shanna is making some of the same points that Perez Hilton made on Tuesday’s Today show, basically saying that there was a way to answer the question without personalizing it, and without coming across as inarticulate and a little sanctimonious.
When I first heard about the “controversy” Monday morning, my first thought was “she said that in front of all of those gay men?” My second thought was “this will last maybe three days tops”. So, here’s hoping that sometime today or tomorrow we collectively figure out that we were getting pissed at Miss California, a ditzy blond who will most likely end up a daytime co-anchor at Fox News.
