Kaley Cuoco’s black BCBG dress & pompadour: too edgy for the ACMs or cool?

Kaley Cuoco

Kaley Cuoco went quite edgy at last night’s ACM awards, and heads must have turned in surprise at this black BCBG gown with flesh-toned overlays. The halter top shows off Kaley’s toned arms, and the shirt shimmies down into just the right amount of flare. Kaley looks really great, and she knows it. Her red carpet style is often hit and miss, but she’s bringing it here. Her smoky eyes are perfectly matched to the mood of the dress, and her hair was styled perfectly to cap off the dramatic vibe.

Now for that hair … yes, Kaley is rocking a pompadour! It’s certainly a fun hairstyle for her, and it is worlds better than last year’s red-carpet clip-on bangs that she later regretted. I’m loving the matching clutch and earrings too. Kaley wins the night even if this ensemble might have been better suited for the Grammys than wasted at the ACMs.

Sheryl Crow

Sheryl Crow, who performed as part of Blake Shelton’s group rendition of “Boys ‘Round Here,” decided to ditch the dresses and went with a cornflower blue pantsuit with bustier. The outfit itself isn’t bad, and Sheryl certainly possesses the figure to pull it off, but the styling leaves little to be desired. The yellow statement necklace is a bit tacky, and Sheryl is so tanned, highlighted, and plucked that it makes me feel uncomfortable. She’s so gorgeous when she goes for the “laid-back” vibe, but here, Sheryl is trying too hard.

Hillary Scott

Hillary Scott brought her baby bump to the party and dressed up in a blue jersey dress that was both sensible and slightly sexy with a low-cut bust detail. She looks quite pretty, but the dress is a bit overwhelming with so much drapey material, so I think she would have looked even better with a simple updo.

Sheryl Crow slammed by Lance victim: ‘She said nothing, it’s unconscionable’

As we discussed yesterday, Sheryl Crow gave her first (and perhaps only) interview about her ex-fiancé Lance Armstrong to Entertainment Tonight on Tuesday. She just offered a few cryptic quotes like “I think that honesty is always the best bet and that the truth will set you free…” I pointed out that the years Sheryl and Lance were together – 2003 to 2006 – were the years that Lance now says he was doping. Sheryl and Lance spent a great deal of time together, she traveled with him, they lived together, etc – so what did she know and when did she know it? I think we can all agree that she probably knew something, right? So the question becomes: was Sheryl classy for being so quiet and discreet, or was she a bad person for sitting idly by as Lance lied his face off and sued people into oblivion for telling the truth? Well, Betsy Andreu, the wife of one of Lance’s former teammates, says that Sheryl should have taken a more proactive position:

Lance Armstrong‘s former teammate’s wife is speaking out about the cyclist’s spectacular fall from grace, and slamming his (now ex) longterm girlfriend turned fiancee, Sheryl Crow – saying it’s “unthinkable” that the singer didn’t know Armstrong was doping – and RadarOnline.com has the details.

In an exclusive interview with the Mail Online, Betsy Andreu says it is “sick and unconscionable” that Crow didn’t report Armstrong, 41, for his cheating behavior.

“Are you kidding me? She was his fiancee. She surely knew what was going on. She could have helped other people,” Andreu fumes.

Tuesday night, in an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Crow said she felt bad for Armstrong being stripped of his Tour de France titles, two of which he won during the time they were dating.

“I know how hard he worked to win those titles, and you know, it was hard to watch. I felt bad,” Crow said. “I felt bad for him, I felt bad for his family, and I kinda felt like the rest of America. He is a hero that we watched and looked up to and admired.”

However, Betsy questions Crow’s sincerity and believes she should have said something.

“Sheryl was by his side when he was trying to destroy people and she said nothing,” she says. “That’s unconscionable. I mean it just astounds me. You should know people are telling the truth and you’re silent. It’s sick. My God she was engaged to the guy. She, like so many other women, did not speak up. If they went through what we went through, would they want somebody to speak up? She could have done something.”

Crow, who was with Armstrong from 2003 to 2006, has not responded to media speculation about whether or not she knew about the doping.

Crow was interviewed as part of USADA’s investigation into Armstrong’s doping scandal, but it is not known how she responded. However, Betsy says she doesn’t believe Crow was questioned accordingly.

“Somebody should ask Sheryl ‘did you see the blood tranfusions? Were drugs ever stored in your home? Did you see any of that in your house?’” She says.

And, while she doesn’t forgive Armstrong, Betsy is happy that the truth is partially out .

“There’s a sense of relief because he’s told some of the truth but he still has a ways to go in telling all of it. It’s sad. You see just a broken man. Somebody who thought he was invincible. When a person doesn’t know how to tell the truth or say they’re sorry it’s sad, sad, sad,” she reveals.

Request for comment was not returned at time of post.

[From Radar]

I’m not trying to start a flame-war or anything (truly), but I agree with Betsy Andreu. I judge people harshly when they don’t have the balls to stand up against injustices and crimes. You can make the argument that Sheryl has class and discretion and silence are virtues, but I simply don’t agree. I think standing up and fighting for what’s right is part of good citizenry, and that’s the only way our society works. Now, I’m not saying that Sheryl is AS BAD as Lance. She’s not, and the overwhelming majority of the anger and disgust should be directed at Lance. But I do think Sheryl should have to answer some questions about why she didn’t step up and speak out.

Sheryl Crow on ex-fiancé Lance Armstrong: ‘The truth will set you free’

This might sounds completely Anti-Sisterhood, but I was never really into Sheryl Crow’s music or Sheryl as a person. I didn’t actively hate it or anything, and if I heard it on the radio, I would probably listen to it, but I just never really cared that much or fan-girl’d her at all. So when the Lance Armstrong exploded (or he imploded, either/or), I really didn’t think about Sheryl until everybody began to say things like “Sheryl dodged a bullet” and “Sheryl’s probably happy she got out.” Sheryl and Lance dated from 2003 to 2006 and they were engaged for a while too. That time period was also known as “the sweet spot when Lance was doping like a mofo” – at least according to him. Which means that I have some questions for Sheryl about whether or not she knew what her boyfriend was doing with all of those needles and blood transfusions. But no one is asking her that. They’re only asking her how she “feels”. You can see Sheryl’s first interview since Lance spoke to Oprah here:

Sheryl speaks. Sheryl Crow broke her silence on ex-boyfriend Lance Armstrong’s shocking fall from grace to Entertainment Tonight on Monday Jan. 21. Addressing Armstrong’s long-awaited confession — he admitted to using performance-enhancing drugs to Oprah Winfrey last week — the “Strong Enough” singer, 50, was philosophical about the athlete, whom she dated from 2003 to 2006.

“[It's] got to be really hard to walk around knowing that you’re not telling the truth about something,” Crow said of Armstrong, 41. “I think that honesty is always the best bet and that the truth will set you free,” added the Grammy winner, who caught “bits and pieces” of her ex-fiance’s interview with Oprah Winfrey. “To carry a weight like that around would be devastating in the long run…I always contend that the truth is the best way to go.”

Telling Winfrey that he used a “cocktail” before cycling competitions (EPO, blood transfusions and testosterone), Armstrong told Winfrey: “I view this situation as one big lie that I repeated a lot of times. I know the truth. The truth isn’t what was out there. The truth isn’t what I said.”

“I’m a flawed character, as I well know,” Armstrong, who has been stripped of all his titles and endorsements, said. “All the fault and all the blame here falls on me.”

[From Us Weekly]

Yeah. Eh. Does anyone else wonder if Sheryl knew more about Lance’s situation and his lies a long time ago? Does anyone else wonder if Lance’s real personality – his douchebaggery, his narcissism, his coldness, his vindictiveness – came out and Sheryl was like “Good God, he’s a monster”? Some would say her relative silence is classy, and you could definitely make that argument. I would argue that if she knew he was engaging in illegal behavior AND lying about it AND suing anyone who told the truth about him, she should have spoken up.

Sheryl Crow believes her brain tumor was caused by heavy cell phone use

Sheryl Crow

Sheryl Crow is 50 years old, y’all, and her bod is fantastic, isn’t it? I know I said the same thing last time I wrote about her, but damn. Girl looks good. Sheryl appeared on Katie Couric’s new talk show on Monday, and several topics came up. First up on the agenda were some more details on Sheryl’s benign brain tumor that she revealed a few months ago as a source of memory loss (she was forgetting some of her lyrics during live shows). Sheryl now suspects that her heavy cell phone usage caused her tumor, which is a tricky subject that we’ll discuss below. Oh, and she also talks a bit about her ex-fiancé, Lance Armstrong, and her reaction to how he was stripped of his Tour de France titles (all seven of them) after a doping investigation. Sheryl handles that very sensitive topic quite well — especially considering there’s a lot of history between her and Lance. Here are some excerpts:

Sheryl Crow

Her tumor may have been caused cell usage: “There are no doctors that will confirm that. [But] I do have the theory that it’s possible that it’s related to that. I [used to spend] hours on the old archaic cell phones.” Crow, who says the tumor is in a part of her brain near where she often held her phone, says she started to suspect something was wrong when she began spacing out on stage, forgetting lyrics and generally feeling “mushy.”

On her fear: “I [was] worried I had an early [onset] Alzheimer’s,” she confesses. In the end, Crow says the non-cancerous tumor is “nothing I have to worry about,” but, for the breast cancer survivor finding out she had a tumor was “definitely a sobering moment.”

On Lance Armstrong: “He’s someone that I really care about. I know how hard he worked to win those titles, and you know, it was hard to watch. I felt bad. I felt bad for him, I felt bad for his family and I kinda felt like the rest of America. He is a hero that we watched and looked up to and admire. He probably [got] tired of the whole fight. He is probably tired of all the scrutiny, I imagine.”

[From People and Hollywood Life]

It sounds like Sheryl is firmly in the camp that doesn’t believe Lance was doping to enhance his performance. She evidently still has a lot of goodwill towards him and her loyalty shows through her words.

As for the cell phone link to brain tumors (benign or otherwise), that’s such scary business. I guess Sheryl’s talking about those giant “archaic” cell phones that were around in the 1990s, but just last year, the World Health Organization listed cellular devicesin the same ‘carcinogenic hazard’ category as lead, engine exhaust and chloroform.” That is, WHO has found evidence to link cell use to a few different types of brain cancer, which makes me grateful that my iPhone 4 microphone keeps breaking and forcing me to use speaker mode only. Small blessings, folks.

Jessica Chastain in see-through Marios Schwab at the Tonys: hot or fug?

Jessica Chastain
The last time I covered Jessica Chastain, I mentioned that she has issues with her cleavage/boobs in a lot of her fashion. This is no exception. Bedhead described these as “doily boobs,” and I agree. The sad thing is, her styling at the Tony Awards is better than we’ve seen in a while. She’s got gorgeous hair and makeup, (how do I get my hair to look like that?) and if you just try and ignore whatever is going on with the bodice you can imagine her rocking a much better dress. I like the skirt actually, and her shoes are too matchy and bridal but they’re not bad. This is a Marios Schwab gown, and Red Carpet Fashion Awards has a comparison photo of the dress on the runway. They like that she’s taking a risk and didn’t line the dress “losing all the mystery, intrigue and possibly even the details.”

Jessica Chastain

I just think this looks ridiculous and like Marchesa. This woman regularly wears some really questionable dresses, though. It’s not sexy to play peek a boo with some sparkly appliques that look like the skid flowers on the bottom of your grandmother’s tub.

Jessica Chastain

Sheryl Crow is 50 freaking years old. Can you believe it? We just heard that she had a benign brain tumor that was affecting her memory. Hopefully she’s doing as well as she looks here. I’m not a fan of the sequin bodice on this dress. It’s very “ice capades,” but she looks gorgeous anyway. Even with that big hair. Sheryl presented an award last night – the Daily Mail has a photo here.

Kathy Najimy lost so much weight she looks like a different person! She probably got a freshening up at the dermatologist’s too, but it’s not too noticeable.

Kathy Najimy

Kathy Najimy

For comparison, here’s Kathy in August of last year.

Kathy Najimy

Hugh Jackman and his wife Deborra-Lee Furness were super cute together. Deborra’s fashion tends toward wacky, and we’ve seen her in big feathered creations before. I find Hugh and Deborra’s love for each other endearing, and I buy that they have a very solid long term relationship.

Hugh Jackman

Her shoes are awful. I just want to point that out.

Hugh received a Tony for helping earn more than $2 million for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS during his 10 week run in Hugh Jackman Back on Broadway. Deborrah presented it to him, and he joked that he was surprised she was able to keep it a secret. “She’s never been able to keep a secret in her life.”

I love Hugh but that hair is just killing it for me. He’s growing out his shaved ‘do from Le Mis.

Sheryl Crow has a benign brain tumor, which she says explains her memory loss

Sheryl Crow

Sheryl Crow has endured a rather difficult road with her health in the past decade or so — she famously battled breast cancer in 2006 and came back swinging. Now Sheryl has revealed that, after experiencing problems with memory loss (including forgetting some of her own lyrics onstage), she went in for an MRI and learned that she’s got a brain tumor. Luckily though, the tumor is benign! At this point, Sheryl doesn’t plan to have surgery, which is probably because her doctors aren’t yet aware whether the tumor will grow. Where the brain is concerned, surgery for a benign growth could present more risks than benefits. Still it’s scary to even think about the prospect of a tumor in one’s brain even though Sheryl doesn’t seem terribly upset about it; in fact, she seems almost relieved to learn that she wasn’t imagining her memory issues. Here’s part of the interview with Review Journal in which Sheryl reveals that she has the tumor:

Sheryl Crow has a brain tumor, but she’s not worried about it because it’s benign. She gave me this startling news with a smile during an otherwise lovely interview.

“I worried about my memory so much that I went and got an MRI. And I found out I have a brain tumor,” Crow said Friday in a suite at The Hotel in Mandalay Bay.

“And I was, like, ‘See? I knew there was something wrong.’”

I didn’t know whether Sheryl was joking or not because we had just been laughing about how she recently forgot some lyrics on stage. But she wasn’t kidding.

“I haven’t really talked about it,” she said. “In November, I found out I have a brain tumor. But it’s benign, so I don’t have to worry about it. But it gives me a fit.”

A month ago, Sheryl forgot part of “Soak Up the Sun” on stage in Florida. She told fans, “I’m 50, what can I say? My brain’s gone to (expletive).”

“Oh gosh,” she told me. “I will tell you a funny story. I have a history of forgetting my lyrics.”

At the Hard Rock Hotel in the 1990s, she forgot the intro to “A Change Would Do You Good.”

“Not only could I not remember the first line, I couldn’t remember the first line to any of the verses. I started laughing so hard! And I looked over at my guitar player, and he’s bent over like he’s gonna just start peeing.”

“I think that was the night a whole bunch of us wound up at a strip club. It was Brad Pitt, and Mick Jagger and Sting! It was just cuckoo crazy, and I was still just getting started, you know. I was, like, ‘Wow, Vegas. This is more than I could even dream of.’”

[From Review Journal]

Wouldn’t it be great to have stories like partying with Brad and Mick in Vegas? Forget Sting, but the other two would be phenomenal to meet. On a more serious note, I hope Sheryl’s prognosis continues to be a good one, and hopefully, she won’t need to have brain surgery to remove the tumor at a future date. Fingers crossed.

By the way, this is Sheryl in a bikini at age 50. Kill me now.

In Touch: Sheryl Crow used to date Aniston’s new hookup, Josh Hopkins

This was taken when Sheryl and Josh were filming so it doesn’t prove much

This week’s In Touch has a story claiming Sheryl Crow is furious at Jennifer Aniston for going out with a guy she used to date, their mutual friend Courteney Cox’s Cougar Town costar, Josh Hopkins. I doubt that In Touch knows anything other than the fact that Sheryl also costarred with Josh, but she might possibly be peeved that Jen is stepping in on her territory. From In Touch’s account, Sheryl and Josh are long over, but it does make Josh seem like he’s game for whichever female guest star shows up on set. He met Sheryl when she also worked on the show with Courteney. The photo In Touch uses with this story is one that was taken on set, though, and I couldn’t find anything to back up their claim that Sheryl and Josh were dating.

According to the insider, Sheryl didn’t find out about Jen, 41, and Josh until after they’d begun dating – and felt betrayed by someone she thought she could trust. Although Sheryl and Josh had only dated a few times, “She was shocked,” the insider shares. “She really likes Josh, and can’t understand why Jen would do something like this.” But she isn’t taking it lying down. The insider says Sheryl, 48, wasted no time asking Josh out again. And it’ll be up to him which friend comes out on top.

[From In Touch, print edition, September 20, 2010]

I doubt Sheryl asked this guy out again and this is probably the last we’ll hear of this story. Would you be annoyed at a friend if they dated your ex? I wouldn’t be too happy if it was someone I’d been with for a few years, especially if things ended badly or my friend didn’t give me the heads up. It might mean that I would continue to have to see him if I wanted to hang out with my friend. If it was just a casual date-type situation I probably wouldn’t care much if a friend hooked up with an ex. It could be awkward if you’d have to hang out with the both of them, though. I think that Sheryl and Jen have been friends long enough to not be bothered by something like this – if it’s true. Plus, according to Aniston’s rep/an “insider” she’s “going on dates with fun, interesting men!” It’s not like she’s going to get serious with this Josh guy.

Mild Cougar Town spoilers
People has new photos of Jennifer in character as the psychiatrist for Courteney’s character on Cougar Town. She looks really pretty and is sporting a kind of dressy Bohemian style. In one picture, she’s posing with a white pooch on a bench. I read a spoiler in this week’s US Weekly and I won’t give it away but the dog features prominently in the plot for that episode. It will air for the Cougar Town season two premiere on September 22. I would watch it, as much as that show bugs me.

Sheryl Crow adopts a second child, son Levi

Singer Sheryl Crow arrives at the Us Weekly Hot Hollywood Style Issue Event in Hollywood, California

Sheryl Crow is such a woman of mystery. She just announced on her website that she has adopted her second child, a little boy named Levi James. Levi is about five weeks old. He joins big brother Wyatt, who Sheryl adopted with little fanfare in 2007. She really keeps her stuff on the downlow, doesn’t she? No big People Magazine covers, no big interviews in Us Weekly, no big tell-all to Oprah, nothing built up about how she “wants” to this or that. She just goes and does it.

Sheryl Crowe is a mom again!

“I have some exciting news to share with you guys,” the musician announced on her official Web site Friday, “Wyatt has a new little brother!”

Crow, 48, adopted now 3-year-old Wyatt in 2007, and also tells fans, “Levi James was born April 30.”

[From People]

Congratulations to Sheryl! I was going to talk more about how she seems to be doing everything low-key these days, but I see she’s gearing up for a tour and she’s just released a new single, “Summer Day”. She’s got a blues album coming out soon called 100 Miles From Memphis. You can hear the single here.

By the way… Levi? What’s with the sudden rise in the popularity of that name? Matthew McConaughey’s son, Levi Johnston, my cousin named his son Levi too.

New Couple Alert: Sheryl Crow & Kid Rock

3092404_crow_s_b_gr_01Sheryl and Kid in 2003. Image thanks to BauerGriffinOnline.

I have a good dating rule of thumb – it’s a truism I’d like to pass along to all of you. Here goes: “Never date anyone who has touched Pamela Anderson.” Sometimes the best rules are the simplest. You’d think that would be common sense, really, but smart women have dated men that have touched Pamela all over the place, so some of these women need better girlfriends to tell them the facts of life.

Does Sheryl Crow need new girlfriends? I suspect she might, because the National Enquirer is reporting that after years of hot-and-heavy flirtations, Sheryl and Kid Rock are entering into the first blush of a relationship. This is the same Kid Rock who married Pamela Anderson at like 10 different ceremonies all over the world, then dumped Pamela a couple of months later, allegedly because he was pissed at her “cameo” in Borat. What the f-ck?

Sheryl and Kid Rock have known each other for the better part of a decade. To Kid’s credit, he seems to always treat Sheryl with respect and he does seem to admire and like her quite a bit. Even though I think his taste in women tends to be more “Pamela Anderson” than “Sheryl Crow”, I could kind of see why he would want to date Sheryl. She seems like a cool chick with her act together. So why in the world would she want to get with him?

Kid Rock is rockin’ Sheryl Crow’s world again!

The pair turned up the heat – publicly cuddling at the June 16 CMT Music Awards in Nashville.

“They were certainly raising eyebrows,” declared an eyewitness.

Crow, 47, met country rap-rockin’ Kid Rock, 38, in 2001 when they teamed up as partners for “Picture” which became a top 10 hit. During that time the two had a brief fling, claims a friend of Rock – but they kept it secret.

Then in a 2004 interview, Crow denied ever dating the rapper, but added: “I really love him – he’s a good boy.”

The two went on to other projects, but the embers never quite cooled, revealed Rock’s pal, who says the two occasionally enjoy hush-hush get-togethers in Nashville.

[A Crow pal] says she “just lights up whenever she sees Kid, even though he’s not Sheryl’s type. The guy drinks a case of beer a day, smokes a dozen cigars and gets into brawls in bars and diners.”

“Sheryl says that Kid’s one of the most animated, funny men she’s ever met. But when you ask her about any possibility for the two of them as a couple, she turns red and says, ‘I don’t know if I could survive that!’”

But judging by their closeness at the CMT Awards, Kid and Sheryl may finally try to become a full-fledged couple rather than just flirty pals, says Sheryl’s friend.

“It’s really Sheryl’s move – but she’s got to decide if she wants to go public and admit she has feelings fro Kid.”

Adds Rock’s pal: “They’ve been coy about their relationship for years, and Kid says it’s time to make it official – that’s something he wants, very, very badly.”

[From The National Enquirer, print edition, July 6 2009]

When I read the line “The guy drinks a case of beer a day, smokes a dozen cigars and gets into brawls in bars and diners” I cracked up. Here in the South, that kind of behavior is called “the weekend”. And people who participate in that kind of behavior are called “Dad” or “my buddy Bubba” or “Yes, sir, boss.” Perhaps that’s why Sheryl likes Kid? Because he seems really normal? Still, I’d like to sit Sheryl down and have a talk about my dating rules.

Here’s Sheryl and Kid performing “Picture” when he was still with Pam.

Jen Aniston, Courteney Cox & Sheryl Crow party for Congolese women

airport 290509
Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox Arquette and Sheryl Crow attended a party last night in Los Angeles to support a charity event called “Stamp Out Violence Against Women and girls of the Congo”. Congolese human rights has become a larger cause celeb as of late, with Ben Affleck making multiple trips in-country and writing essays of support on behalf of Congolese refugees. Last night’s party was sponsored by OmniPeace and Art of Humanity, and it was all for the launching of one $78 t-shirt. Twenty-five percent of the profits (the profits, not the proceeds) will go towards OmniPeace’s Congolese community centers for women.

Three great friends stepped out Thursday night for a good cause. Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox Arquette and Sheryl Crow lent their support to pal and OmniPeace founder Mary Fanaro and her night to “Stamp Out Violence Against Women and Girls of the Congo.”

“I am extremely lucky,” Aniston tells PEOPLE. “But these women and girls need help – it makes you think.”

Continues Cox Arquette, “We can do something about this. I want to bring awareness to this.”

“I know I have a responsibility,” adds Crow of son Wyatt. “As a mom, the biggest thrill for me, but most humbling role is raising my kid as a humanitarian. I want him to grow up feeling he can do something for people less fortunate.”

The trio of hosts – sporting T-shirts created for the Art of Humanity Foundation and OmniPeace and debuted at the event – mingled and laughed throughout the intimate dinner party, held at STK in L.A. and sponsored by Kitson.

“I couldn’t imagine a better group of three musketeers to help me tonight,” gushed Fanaro of her good pals.

A pregnant Nicole Richie, Marisa Tomei, Demi Moore, James Marsden, David Arquette and Kelly Lynch all showed their support at the event as well.

“I’m all about making people aware and showing them what the problem is. It’s impossible to turn your back on something like this,” says Richie. “It’s really hard to complain about anything when you hear the stories of these women and children and their torture.”

OmniPeace will donate 25 percent of the profits from the sale of the T-shirts to UNICEF & V-Day Foundation to build the City of Joy, a rehabilitation center and safe community for Congolese women girls. Tees are available on www.shopkitson.com for $78.

[From People]

I did a little research on the organizations sponsoring the event, and found that Art of Humanity is a charity that works almost exclusively with Central and South American poverty issues, like housing and education for Honduran families, and aiding recent immigrants to the United States. There is no mention of any Congolese issues on Art of Humanity’s site, but what might have happened is that one of the charity’s supporting artists simply designed the shirt being sold on behalf of OmniPeace, and their Congolese community support centers.
