In Touch: Sheryl Crow used to date Aniston’s new hookup, Josh Hopkins

This was taken when Sheryl and Josh were filming so it doesn’t prove much

This week’s In Touch has a story claiming Sheryl Crow is furious at Jennifer Aniston for going out with a guy she used to date, their mutual friend Courteney Cox’s Cougar Town costar, Josh Hopkins. I doubt that In Touch knows anything other than the fact that Sheryl also costarred with Josh, but she might possibly be peeved that Jen is stepping in on her territory. From In Touch’s account, Sheryl and Josh are long over, but it does make Josh seem like he’s game for whichever female guest star shows up on set. He met Sheryl when she also worked on the show with Courteney. The photo In Touch uses with this story is one that was taken on set, though, and I couldn’t find anything to back up their claim that Sheryl and Josh were dating.

According to the insider, Sheryl didn’t find out about Jen, 41, and Josh until after they’d begun dating – and felt betrayed by someone she thought she could trust. Although Sheryl and Josh had only dated a few times, “She was shocked,” the insider shares. “She really likes Josh, and can’t understand why Jen would do something like this.” But she isn’t taking it lying down. The insider says Sheryl, 48, wasted no time asking Josh out again. And it’ll be up to him which friend comes out on top.

[From In Touch, print edition, September 20, 2010]

I doubt Sheryl asked this guy out again and this is probably the last we’ll hear of this story. Would you be annoyed at a friend if they dated your ex? I wouldn’t be too happy if it was someone I’d been with for a few years, especially if things ended badly or my friend didn’t give me the heads up. It might mean that I would continue to have to see him if I wanted to hang out with my friend. If it was just a casual date-type situation I probably wouldn’t care much if a friend hooked up with an ex. It could be awkward if you’d have to hang out with the both of them, though. I think that Sheryl and Jen have been friends long enough to not be bothered by something like this – if it’s true. Plus, according to Aniston’s rep/an “insider” she’s “going on dates with fun, interesting men!” It’s not like she’s going to get serious with this Josh guy.

Mild Cougar Town spoilers
People has new photos of Jennifer in character as the psychiatrist for Courteney’s character on Cougar Town. She looks really pretty and is sporting a kind of dressy Bohemian style. In one picture, she’s posing with a white pooch on a bench. I read a spoiler in this week’s US Weekly and I won’t give it away but the dog features prominently in the plot for that episode. It will air for the Cougar Town season two premiere on September 22. I would watch it, as much as that show bugs me.

Sheryl Crow adopts a second child, son Levi

Singer Sheryl Crow arrives at the Us Weekly Hot Hollywood Style Issue Event in Hollywood, California

Sheryl Crow is such a woman of mystery. She just announced on her website that she has adopted her second child, a little boy named Levi James. Levi is about five weeks old. He joins big brother Wyatt, who Sheryl adopted with little fanfare in 2007. She really keeps her stuff on the downlow, doesn’t she? No big People Magazine covers, no big interviews in Us Weekly, no big tell-all to Oprah, nothing built up about how she “wants” to this or that. She just goes and does it.

Sheryl Crowe is a mom again!

“I have some exciting news to share with you guys,” the musician announced on her official Web site Friday, “Wyatt has a new little brother!”

Crow, 48, adopted now 3-year-old Wyatt in 2007, and also tells fans, “Levi James was born April 30.”

[From People]

Congratulations to Sheryl! I was going to talk more about how she seems to be doing everything low-key these days, but I see she’s gearing up for a tour and she’s just released a new single, “Summer Day”. She’s got a blues album coming out soon called 100 Miles From Memphis. You can hear the single here.

By the way… Levi? What’s with the sudden rise in the popularity of that name? Matthew McConaughey’s son, Levi Johnston, my cousin named his son Levi too.

New Couple Alert: Sheryl Crow & Kid Rock

3092404_crow_s_b_gr_01Sheryl and Kid in 2003. Image thanks to BauerGriffinOnline.

I have a good dating rule of thumb – it’s a truism I’d like to pass along to all of you. Here goes: “Never date anyone who has touched Pamela Anderson.” Sometimes the best rules are the simplest. You’d think that would be common sense, really, but smart women have dated men that have touched Pamela all over the place, so some of these women need better girlfriends to tell them the facts of life.

Does Sheryl Crow need new girlfriends? I suspect she might, because the National Enquirer is reporting that after years of hot-and-heavy flirtations, Sheryl and Kid Rock are entering into the first blush of a relationship. This is the same Kid Rock who married Pamela Anderson at like 10 different ceremonies all over the world, then dumped Pamela a couple of months later, allegedly because he was pissed at her “cameo” in Borat. What the f-ck?

Sheryl and Kid Rock have known each other for the better part of a decade. To Kid’s credit, he seems to always treat Sheryl with respect and he does seem to admire and like her quite a bit. Even though I think his taste in women tends to be more “Pamela Anderson” than “Sheryl Crow”, I could kind of see why he would want to date Sheryl. She seems like a cool chick with her act together. So why in the world would she want to get with him?

Kid Rock is rockin’ Sheryl Crow’s world again!

The pair turned up the heat – publicly cuddling at the June 16 CMT Music Awards in Nashville.

“They were certainly raising eyebrows,” declared an eyewitness.

Crow, 47, met country rap-rockin’ Kid Rock, 38, in 2001 when they teamed up as partners for “Picture” which became a top 10 hit. During that time the two had a brief fling, claims a friend of Rock – but they kept it secret.

Then in a 2004 interview, Crow denied ever dating the rapper, but added: “I really love him – he’s a good boy.”

The two went on to other projects, but the embers never quite cooled, revealed Rock’s pal, who says the two occasionally enjoy hush-hush get-togethers in Nashville.

[A Crow pal] says she “just lights up whenever she sees Kid, even though he’s not Sheryl’s type. The guy drinks a case of beer a day, smokes a dozen cigars and gets into brawls in bars and diners.”

“Sheryl says that Kid’s one of the most animated, funny men she’s ever met. But when you ask her about any possibility for the two of them as a couple, she turns red and says, ‘I don’t know if I could survive that!’”

But judging by their closeness at the CMT Awards, Kid and Sheryl may finally try to become a full-fledged couple rather than just flirty pals, says Sheryl’s friend.

“It’s really Sheryl’s move – but she’s got to decide if she wants to go public and admit she has feelings fro Kid.”

Adds Rock’s pal: “They’ve been coy about their relationship for years, and Kid says it’s time to make it official – that’s something he wants, very, very badly.”

[From The National Enquirer, print edition, July 6 2009]

When I read the line “The guy drinks a case of beer a day, smokes a dozen cigars and gets into brawls in bars and diners” I cracked up. Here in the South, that kind of behavior is called “the weekend”. And people who participate in that kind of behavior are called “Dad” or “my buddy Bubba” or “Yes, sir, boss.” Perhaps that’s why Sheryl likes Kid? Because he seems really normal? Still, I’d like to sit Sheryl down and have a talk about my dating rules.

Here’s Sheryl and Kid performing “Picture” when he was still with Pam.

Jen Aniston, Courteney Cox & Sheryl Crow party for Congolese women

airport 290509
Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox Arquette and Sheryl Crow attended a party last night in Los Angeles to support a charity event called “Stamp Out Violence Against Women and girls of the Congo”. Congolese human rights has become a larger cause celeb as of late, with Ben Affleck making multiple trips in-country and writing essays of support on behalf of Congolese refugees. Last night’s party was sponsored by OmniPeace and Art of Humanity, and it was all for the launching of one $78 t-shirt. Twenty-five percent of the profits (the profits, not the proceeds) will go towards OmniPeace’s Congolese community centers for women.

Three great friends stepped out Thursday night for a good cause. Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox Arquette and Sheryl Crow lent their support to pal and OmniPeace founder Mary Fanaro and her night to “Stamp Out Violence Against Women and Girls of the Congo.”

“I am extremely lucky,” Aniston tells PEOPLE. “But these women and girls need help – it makes you think.”

Continues Cox Arquette, “We can do something about this. I want to bring awareness to this.”

“I know I have a responsibility,” adds Crow of son Wyatt. “As a mom, the biggest thrill for me, but most humbling role is raising my kid as a humanitarian. I want him to grow up feeling he can do something for people less fortunate.”

The trio of hosts – sporting T-shirts created for the Art of Humanity Foundation and OmniPeace and debuted at the event – mingled and laughed throughout the intimate dinner party, held at STK in L.A. and sponsored by Kitson.

“I couldn’t imagine a better group of three musketeers to help me tonight,” gushed Fanaro of her good pals.

A pregnant Nicole Richie, Marisa Tomei, Demi Moore, James Marsden, David Arquette and Kelly Lynch all showed their support at the event as well.

“I’m all about making people aware and showing them what the problem is. It’s impossible to turn your back on something like this,” says Richie. “It’s really hard to complain about anything when you hear the stories of these women and children and their torture.”

OmniPeace will donate 25 percent of the profits from the sale of the T-shirts to UNICEF & V-Day Foundation to build the City of Joy, a rehabilitation center and safe community for Congolese women girls. Tees are available on www.shopkitson.com for $78.

[From People]

I did a little research on the organizations sponsoring the event, and found that Art of Humanity is a charity that works almost exclusively with Central and South American poverty issues, like housing and education for Honduran families, and aiding recent immigrants to the United States. There is no mention of any Congolese issues on Art of Humanity’s site, but what might have happened is that one of the charity’s supporting artists simply designed the shirt being sold on behalf of OmniPeace, and their Congolese community support centers.

New theory: Lance Armstrong dumped Sheryl Crow due to bad mojo

Lance Armstrong
There have been many rumors about why exactly Lance Armstrong and Sheryl Crow really split in 2006. Sheryl herself gave an interview last year, comparing the end of her relationship with Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt’s, saying that she and Aniston had done the dumping: “For both of us, the perceived idea is that, in our big relationships, we both got dumped. Believe me, this is not true. Neither one of us has ever gotten dumped. No one ever knows what goes on in relationships.” Sheryl’s statement contradicts several new reports coming out of Lance’s camp, though. Earlier this month, part of Lance Armstrong’s new book came out, and Lance seems to be saying he dumped Sheryl over her biological clock. Something about her being baby crazy, and he’d had enough.

Now this latest report from The National Enquirer, who seems to be quoting from another book about to be published about Lance. They claim that the real problems in the relationship began when Lance realized Sheryl had bad mojo for his cycling events. Lance’s manager even spoke to Lance about Sheryl being a distraction:

When singer Sheryl Crow became too distracting for cycling superstar Lance Armstrong, he dumped her like a bag of bricks!

[Lance] put the brakes on their 2 1/2 year romance after his coach confronted him about the relationship, according to the blockbuster tell-all: “Lance: The Making of the World’s Greatest Champion”.

“Training for his final Tour in 2005, Lance wanted Sheryl with him,” revealed a publishing source familiar with the upcoming book.

“But in a rare confrontation, Lance’s coach Chris Carmichael told him that he discerned something disturbing in the raltionship that was distracting and could impact his performance.”

“He suggested Lance not bring Sheryl to training camp in the Alps and the Pyrenees. He expected a negative reaction, but Lance said he was thinking ‘the same damn thing.’ Without Sheryl with him, his performance improved and he went on to win his last Tour.”

On the heels of victory, Lance asked then 44-year-old Sheryl to marry him. But they split six months later and he publicly blamed her ticking biological clock for their breakup.

[From The National Enquirer, print edition, June 1 2009]

Personally, I don’t really give a crap. This is a relationship that ended three years ago, and both Sheryl and Lance look petty and immature by continuing to talk about it and write about it. But if I am pretending to care, I’d say all breakup theories have some merit. Sheyl was/is smart enough to see when her relationship was going off the rails, and I could see her pulling the plug. On the other hand, I could totally buy that Lance is an emotional douchebag who promises the world to his girlfriends and never delivers, dumping them when stuff gets too serious.

Hollywood goes to Washington: Sheryl Crow, Michael Douglas & more

Several celebrities have visited Capital Hill in the past two weeks to testify and represent causes. In many cases the celebrities went through tragedy and adversity and became committed and knowledgeable about issues that personally affected them. In other cases they became involved with specific causes they feel passionate about. Either way, they’re bringing attention to important issues and making a difference. I’d rather see a celebrity testifying in front of a committee than shopping, eating out, or worse getting a DUI, but unfortunately the latter get a lot more attention.

5/21/08: Breast cancer survivor Sheryl Crow testifies in front of the House Energy and Commerce Committee’s health subcommittee to support a bill funding breast cancer research. Crow emphasized that she has no family history of breast cancer, and said “I want to know what causes this disease. We need to put more resources into figuring out what the environment has to do with breast cancer.” [Paraphrased from Houston Chronicle. You can view Crow's testimony as a Real Media file thanks to C-Span.org]

5/21/08: Michael Douglas meets with Indiana Senator Richard Lugar at The Capitol to urge him to prevent the spread and use of nuclear, biological and chemical weapons as a director of the Ploughshares Fund organization [Description verbatim from WENN]

5/20/08: United Nations Populations Fund (UNFPA) goodwill ambassador Geri Halliwell and Care ambassador Christy Turlington hold a rally and press conference with congresswomen and fistula survivors. They urged support of a new bill promoting maternal health throughout the world. [Details paraphrased from Baltimore Sun]

5/14/08: Ed Norton testifies in front of the The House Select Committee for Energy Independence and Global Warming. He is a trustee of Enterprise Community Partners, which was founded by his grandfather and builds affordable homes using green building practices for low income families. He said “The legacy of my generation is going to hinge on how we respond to these revelations that we’re not living sustainably, and that we’re altering the environment.” [Quote and details paraphrased from Peopletreefilms. Video is available on Globalwarming.house.gov - scroll to the last video in the list]

5/14/08: Dennis Quaid testifies in front of the House Reform and Government Oversight Committee urging Congress not to support a measure by the drug companies that would make them immune from lawsuits. He is suing company Baxter Healthcare Corp after a known second preventable mixup in which his newborn twins almost died after being given 1,000 times the dosage of Heparin, a blood thinner. Batches of Heparin have since been recalled for an unrelated incident in which the drug became tainted at a manufacturing plant in China, resulting in 19 known deaths. Dennis Quaid’s twins are healthy at five and a half months old, and are not thought to suffer lasting effects from the near-fatal overdose. [Details paraphrased from MSNBC. Quaid's testimony is available on House.gov as a PDF file and the video is available as a Real Media file from C-span.org]

5/8/08: Cancer survivor, founder of a cancer advocacy nonprofit organization, and seven time Tour de France winner Lance Armstrong, testifies in front of The Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee on Cancer: Challenges and Opportunities in the 21st Century. [From Senate.gov, where there's also a video of Lance's testimony]

Sheryl Crow says Jennifer Aniston dumped Brad

It seems like the Team Aniston/Team Jolie loonies aren’t the only ones who just can’t let this story go.

Sheryl Crow, who became chums with Jennifer Aniston during her battle with breast cancer, recently mouthed off about Jennifer’s three-year-old split from Brad Pitt. Sheryl was comparing the media coverage in that breakup to the coverage of her own split from bicyclist Lance Armstrong. She claims that both she and Aniston dumped their men, but the media says it was the other way around.

Sheryl Crow has claimed that Jennifer Aniston dumped Brad Pitt rather than the other way around.

The couple split in 2005 after five years of marriage amid rumours that Pitt had fallen for Angelina Jolie on the set of their movie Mr and Mrs Smith.

However, Crow said she learned the truth when she became friends with Aniston after the actress ditched Pitt and she split from cyclist Lance Armstrong.

She said: “For both of us, the perceived idea is that, in our big relationships, we both got dumped. Believe me, this is not true. Neither one of us has ever gotten dumped. No one ever knows what goes on in relationships.

“Unfortunately, for some people like Jennifer and me, so much is written about things that you don’t say, and so many emotions are attributed to you that you haven’t had.”

A friend also insisted that Aniston had called time on the marriage, telling the National Enquirer: “Once Jen saw the writing on the wall, she dumped Brad.

“She took a cold, hard look at her marriage and realised it was irretrievably broken. She and Brad had vastly different personal agendas and feelings about love, career and having a family.”

From Showbizspy UK]

Does anyone really care about Lance and Sheryl or Brad and Jen anymore? I mean, really care? It seems to me that in the Brad-Angie-Jennifer triangle, those three individuals are more than over it and moved on years ago. As for Lance and Sheryl, I never gave a crap about them in the first place. Both of them are boring as hell, so together, they were twice as boring. Who cares who dumped whom? My guess is, Sheryl was looking for some free publicity to promote her boring new CD and she knows that there’s no faster way to get attention than to bring up the Pitt-Aniston divorce.

Sheryl Crow calls rehab “loads of fun,” says she wants to go

Singer Sheryl Crow is known for memorable pop songs and and for occasionally talking smack. She was widely quoted as recommending that we all do our part to save the environment by limiting our toilet paper usage to a single square, a quote she says was taken out of context from a campus comedy routine on global warming and wasn’t meant to be taken seriously.

Now she’s joking around about going to rehab and saying that it might revive her career. She supposedly said this during a performance, and while it’s also taken out of context and seems to be meant as a joke, it’s something that she maybe should have kept to herself:

The singer/songwriter, who has battled depression for years, joked about recording a duet with troubled British singer Amy Winehouse during a show at London’s Scala venue on 19 February (08) – before poking fun at stars in rehab.

Crow told fans, “I want to collaborate with Amy because she’s really hot and cool right now. I know one song, Rehab, was very popular, particularly because a lot of young people are in rehab. “In fact, I’m thinking about going. It looks like loads of fun and I know my career will benefit from it.”

[WENN via Hollywood.tv]

Maybe I’m being overly sensitive, but if she said it that way, that’s rude! At least Sheryl is one of those celebrities who says what she feels and doesn’t tiptoe around things she is passionate about, but calling rehab “fun” and talking about how it will help your career is asinine.

It sounds like someone is pissed because they’re sober with a little kid at home and aren’t as successful or famous as another musician who was taped smoking crack. She has a point in that we keep giving chances to drugged-out singers and celebrities, but it’s not like rehab is fun or people enter into the decision to go lightly.

Sheryl Crow’s album, Detours, has been well received critically, but is not a huge commercial success. The CD sold about 92,000 copies in its first week of release. According to Billboard, it is her “lowest sales debut since her 1996 self-titled sophomore album bowed with 80,000.”

Sheryl Crow tells us to stop looking at paparazzi photos

jtm-030619.jpg
Sheryl Crow has a new interview with Newsweek in which she talks about her own celebrity status as well as our obsession with the rich and famous. She says that she wasn’t a paparazzi target until she hit the lowest point in her life, having broken up with Lance Armstrong and learning she had breast cancer shortly afterwards. When asked about how she feels about what Britney is going through, she says we all need to step back and stop distracting ourselves from this celebrity nonsense because it’s taking away from more meaningful things in life:

As a mom, can you even imagine what Britney is going through?
The only way for paparazzi to stop chasing people around is to not buy the magazines. I would strongly encourage anyone who’s interested in that kind of stuff to not watch because every moment you spend rejoicing or distracting yourself with that is a moment that you can’t get back in your life. It’s fast food and it’s not good for us.

You’ve been a tabloid target yourself.
I was never top-shelf celebrity. I was never chased by paparazzi until my lowest point—when my public relationship [with Lance Armstrong] fell apart and I was diagnosed with breast cancer. What’s that say?

[From Newsweek via ONTD]

She makes a good point about how too much of a celebrity diet is harmful and how we should just try not to watch. The way she phrases it reminds me of the way that traffic stalls around a car crash. I’m one of those people who tries to drive at a steady pace and will myself not to waste everyone’s time behind me looking, but the temptation is hard to resist. This is the woman who also told everyone to use one square of toilet paper in order to save the environment, though she seems to have said it half-jokingly. She is right that too much gossip about other people doesn’t add much to our lives, although I feel guilty contributing to that.

Crow’s adopted son Wyatt is nine months old and she also talked to Newsweek about how active he is and how he adds a purpose to her life. She said he is trying to walk and that he crawls fast and pulls himself up. She said that having a child helps her feel a sense of urgency for how things need to change in the world and that “until you have a kid and you’re really emotionally invested in what kind of planet you’re leaving for your kid, you don’t realize the sense of urgency that you’ll feel.”

Sheryl Crow has a new CD out next week called Detours. Rolling Stone gives it a three and a half star review and says that each song is unique, but “What holds [them] together is Crow’s unwavering emotional commitment.” The LA Times calls it “a bold album that puts Crow’s convictions – and her chops as a singer and songwriter – front and center.”

You can send in taped questions for Sheryl Crow for an interview with RollingStone.com next week. They’re taking submissions through YouTube.

Here are some non-paparazzi photos of Crow at The Annual Black Ball Concert for ‘Keep A Child Alive’ on 10/25/07, thanks to PRPhotos.

Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox and Sheryl Crow in Mexico

Yesterday we published the story that Aniston was partying it up in Los Cabos, Mexico with Courteney Cox, Sheryl Crow and Courteney’s family for the holiday. Flynet online has some pictures of the group out to dinner, and it looks like Los Cabos is a favorite with celebrities this season. Apprentice winner Bill Rancic and his girlfriend E! star Giuliana DiPandi were there along with Nicollette Sheridan and Michael Bolton. Flynet reports that they all ate together at the same restaurant on New Year’s eve. Adam Sandler and his wife were also seen out in Los Cabos that day.
