Eva Longoria insulted by South Park; Carlos Mencia thinks it’s “hysterical”

Eva Longoria Parker

South Park‘s recent “Fishsticks” episode caused Kanye’s ego to deflate, and has now apparently ruffled Eva Longoria’s feathers. In the episode, which is about a joke involving fishsticks, Carlos Mencia goes on Conan O’Brien and claims credit for the joke. After the episode aired, Mencia twittered that he thought it was “hysterical”: “They just made fun of me on South Park. I thought it was hysterical. Catch the rerun.” After seeing the episode, Eva Longoria is reportedly livid over the impersonation of Mencia, calling it racist.

Eva Longoria is furious with South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone. Apparently, she is a big fan of comedian Carlos Mencia and thinks that the portrayal of him, seen recently on the Fishticks episode, borders on racism. Eva believes that Carlos Mencia is one of the most talented comedians ever. She is rumored to be telling people that portraying Carlos Mencia as one of the characters on Carlito’s Way is not only stupid; it’s also racist.

[The Examiner]

“Racist” is a strong word, and should not be used lightly. While I see where Eva is coming from, it sounds like she hasn’t seen that many episodes of South Park and probably doesn’t “get it.” The show has make fun of everyone, and I mean everyone. Tom Cruise, P.Diddy, Al Gore, Michael Jackson, even the Pope. Their humor spans across racial, religious, gender, and sexual preference profiles. In short, they’re fair with their scathing commentary.

Eva Longoria has always been proud and vocal about her Mexican ancestry, and racial issues are certainly an important and relevant part of modern society. But where was Eva, a Catholic, when an episode made fun of the Pope?

And not only that, but Mencia liked the episode. His whole schtick is making fun of people of all ethnicities – why isn’t it okay for South Park creators to do the same?

Here’s a clip from the show. It’s somewhat NSFW.

Deflated by South Park parody, Kanye West works on his ego

Who knew that all it would take to bring egomaniacal rapper Kanye West back down to earth was a South Park episode dedicated to his douchebaggery? After the episode broadcast on Comedy Central, Mr. Narcissist himself blogged about it, and said that he plans on “working on” his ego. I don’t know what that means. But I hope it means that he’s not going to continue with his delusional belief that he’s the greatest entertainer of his generation.

SOUTH PARK MURDERED ME LAST NIGHT AND IT’S PRETTY FUNNY. IT HURTS MY FEELINGS BUT WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT FROM SOUTH PARK! I ACTUALLY HAVE BEEN WORKING ON MY EGO THOUGH. HAVING THE CRAZY EGO IS PLAYED OUT AT THIS POINT IN MY LIFE AND CAREER. I USE TO USE IT TO BUILD UP MY ESTEEM WHEN NOBODY BELIEVED IN ME. NOW THAT PEOPLE DO BELIEVE AND SUPPORT MY MUSIC AND PRODUCTS THE BEST RESPONSE IS THANK YOU INSTEAD OF “I TOLD YOU SO!!!” IT’S COOL TO TALK SHIT WHEN YOU’RE RAPPING BUT NOT IN REAL LIFE. WHEN YOU MEET LITTLE WAYNE IN PERSON HE’S THE NICEST GUY FOR EXAMPLE. I JUST WANNA BE A DOPER PERSON WHICH STARTS WITH ME NOT ALWAYS TELLING PEOPLE HOW DOPE I THINK I AM. I NEED TO JUST GET PAST MYSELF. DROP THE BRAVADO AND JUST MAKE DOPE PRODUCT. EVERYTHING IS NOT THAT SERIOUS. AS LONG AS PEOPLE THINK I ACT LIKE A BITCH THIS TYPE OF SHIT WILL HAPPEN TO ME. I GOT A LONG ROAD AHEAD OF ME TO MAKE PEOPLE BELIEVE I’M NOT ACTUALLY A HUGE DOUCHE BUT I’M UP FOR THE CHALLENGE. I’M SURE THE WRITERS AT SOUTH PARK ARE REALLY NICE PEOPLE IN REAL LIFE. THANKS FOR TAKING THE TIME TO DRAW MY CREW. THAT WAS PRETTY FUNNY ALSO!! I’M SURE THERE’S GRAMMATICAL ERRORS IN THIS… THAT’S HOW YOU KNOW IT’S ME!

[From Kanye West's blog]

Well, there you have it. Does this mean we won’t see anymore post-awards show meltdowns when Kanye doesn’t win? Because I’ll kind of miss making fun of those. I have to admit, the South Park episode really nailed him. They sure do know how to bust on famous people – has anyone seen the Jonas Brothers’ episode? Classic.

You can see the full South Park episode here. and most of it is above.

South Park’s creators were given autographed Saddam Hussein pic by soldiers

southpark_l

Matt Stone and Trey Parker’s film South Park: Bigger, Longer and Uncut has some important fans. The US Army’s 4th Infantry Division and the marines guarding Saddam Hussein during his imprisonment. One of the entertainments the marines arranged for Saddam was a viewing of Parker and Stone’s South Park film, where Saddam is portrayed as gay, in hell, and living in an abusive relationship with Satan. Stone says, “I have it on pretty good information from the marines on detail in Iraq that they showed Saddam the movie. Over and over again – which is a pretty funny thought. That’s really adding insult to injury.”

The 4th Infantry Division were such huge South Park fans that they gave Matt Stone and Trey Parker a valuable memento – an autographed picture of Saddam. It is unknown if Saddam signed the photo for the soldiers, or it was a signed photo the soldiers just got their hands on. It’s sort of cool that they gave it to Parker and Stone – it must have meant a lot to the South Park creators.

Matt Stone and Trey Parker, the creators of South Park, were given a signed photo of Saddam Hussein by US marines after the former Iraqi leader was shown their movie in prison.

During his captivity, US marines forced Saddam, who was executed in 2006, to repeatedly watch the move South Park: Bigger, Longer And Uncut, which shows him as gay, as well as the boyfriend of Satan. He was also regularly depicted in a similar manner during the TV series.

The admission comes with the show’s 13th season already running in the US. It will celebrate its 12th anniversary later this year.

The show, which satirises a wide range of topics, including religion, sexuality and mental illness, has won a number of awards including three Emmys for Outstanding Animated Programme.

Recent episodes have seen Barack Obama using his Presidential victory as a way to steal jewels from Washington in an Oceans 11-style heist.

It also recently depicted the United States Treasury as deciding economic measures by cutting the head off a chicken and letting it run on a game show style board, landing on a decision.

Stone, 37, said both he and Parker, 39, were most proud of the signed Saddam photo, given to them by the US Army’s 4th Infantry Division.

He said: “We’re very proud of our signed Saddam picture and what it means. Its one of our biggest highlights.”

“I have it on pretty good information from the marines on detail in Iraq that they showed Saddam the movie. Over and over again – which is a pretty funny thought. That’s really adding insult to injury.”

[From The Telegraph]

Before Saddam was executed, Time or Newsweek ran a story about what Saddam’s life was like in prison. According to the article, it actually wasn’t that bad. The marines treated him well, and Saddam loved any and all American food he got. He spent a lot of time gardening in a little garden within the compound and he really enjoyed meeting and talking to the young American marines. If I remember correctly, he even had a favorite marine, one that Saddam often spoke to about his family. I actually doubt that the marines would “force” Saddam to watch South Park multiple times, but I’d bet they made him sit through it once. He might have even gotten the joke.

Southpark skewers YouTube “celebrities;” plus DVD giveaway! (Update)

imaginationland.jpg

This week South Park did a great parody of all the infamous YouTube “celebrities.” After the boys make a popular YouTube video “Little Gay Kid” and become internet sensations, they decide to go collect all the money they’re theoretically worth. They encounter all the YouTube celebrities, who can’t seem to get over their 15 seconds of fame.

We’re giving away two copies of the new South Park Imaginationland DVD. If you would like to be eligible to win one, please comment on this post with your favorite South Park quote. The first two great quotes will be chosen and a DVD will be sent to you. Make sure to include your e-mail in the e-mail field so we can get in touch. Here’s an excerpt from the DVD:

In this uncensored, never-before-seen director’s cut, the doors of the world’s imagination are thrown wide open and the boys of South Park are transported to a magical realm in their greatest odyssey ever. Stan, Kyle, and Butters find themselves in Imaginationland just as terrorists launch an attack that unleashes all of mankind’s most evil characters imaginable. With the world’s imaginations spinning out of control, the government prepares to nuke Imaginationland to put an end to the chaos. Racing against time to prevent nuclear annihilation, the citizens of Imaginationland realize their only hope of salvation lies with the unlikeliest of heroes: Butters. Ignoring the impending apocalypse, Cartman goes all the way to the Supreme Court to get justice for his case of dry balls.

And here’s some of the original YouTube internet “celebrities” to enjoy for a second (or 53rd) time.

Update by Celebitchy: On Friday, MSat, Jaybird and I joined heads to pick the best quotes that were up the quickest. We mutually decided on Megan: “Mr. Garrison: ‘I just don’t trust anything that bleeds for five days and doesn’t die.;” and Katie: “Paris Hilton whore off: ‘aww…It’s all wet and squishy down there.’” However, Megan did not enter her e-mail address and thus forfeited her chance to win, which is clearly stated in the post. So the winners were Katie and Anna: “Cartman: M-o-o-o-mmm, Kitty is being a dildo. Mrs. Cartman: Well, then I know a certain kitty kitty who’s sleeping with Mommy tonight.”

Both winners have been contacted and will be receiving DVDs in the mail. Thanks to everyone who entered and added quotes!

Photographers kill Britney Spears on South Park (spoilers & cartoon violence)

South Park parodied the media coverage of Britney Spears in a new episode on Comedy Central last night. I’m not a huge South Park fan, but the show started out hilarious and ended with a creepy message that had me nodding.

The episode starts with the kids sitting around watching a television debate between Obama and Clinton, which is interrupted with breaking Britney news. Reporters go crazy over the news that Britney is camping in Colorado and that she took a pee outside on a ladybug. The newscast states that Britney has since moved to a hotel. Cartman notes that she’s in their town, South Park.

Once the guys learn that the photo of Britney peeing earned $100,000 they decide to go find her at the local hotel.

Kyle: “$100,000 for a picture of Britney peeing on a ladybug. Imagine what a picture of her crapping on a squirrel is worth!”

The guys claim to be Britney’s kids to gain access to her hotel room and once she learns that she was tricked she gets depressed and shoots herself in the head.

Britney survives, but she’s headless. It’s gross, but you can’t help laughing.

They sneak Britney out of the hospital and help her stage a singing comeback, in which she can only grunt because she has no head. The people in the studio make fun of her and call her fat and a train wreck.

After that Britney performs on the MTV Music Awards, with people calling her fat and saying that she’s lipsynching. The fact that she doesn’t have a head is mentioned as an aside.

The guys try and save Britney and shield her from the paparazzi. Kyle eventually gives a lecture to the media about how it’s time to let Britney go before it’s too late. A photographer says “Son, you don’t seem to understand. Britney Spears has to die.”

It goes on from there, with the press explaining that “Our lust for torture and death is no different than it was in gladiator times. The only difference is now we like to watch people put to death through magazines and photographs.”

Photographers eventually surround Britney and photograph her to death in a scene that’s reminiscent of the public stoning in that famous short story by Shirley Jackson, “The Lottery,” in which a town holds a lottery to see who will be killed to ensure a good harvest.

Everyone in town acts normal afterwards and life goes on as usual. The news then breaks to a story about Miley Cyrus and the townspeople start chanting eerily, setting her up to be the next victim.

I enjoyed the way this episode skewered the media frenzy surrounding Britney and made them look like clueless swarming zombies. It really had a good message.

Here’s the clip where Britney shoots herself. Warning: it’s violent.

A clip where the news makes fun of Britney’s cameltoe.

And Britney is photographed to death. Again disturbing.

If you want to watch the whole episode, I’ve clipped it into three segments. Thanks to Redlasso for making the television streams available.
