Mary-Kate Olsen and Paris Hilton’s longtime on-off-on-but-now-off boyfriend, Stavros Niarchos, were seen making out at the Chateau Marmont on November 12. Then the two former lovers headed to Hyde for some more public canoodling. All the tabloids are buzzing with the news this week, with Life and Style stepping it up a notch by declaring a feud between Mary-Kate and Paris. They’re probably just making it up, but it could be true since Paris was said to despise Mary-Kate, who was seeing Stavros when she scooped him up. Paris is being sued by a Party planner for threats she made against him after he supposedly told Stavros to dump Paris at that time and get back with Mary-Kate. (That lawsuit looks like it has either been abandoned or settled, although it’s hard to tell.)

So even if Paris isn’t actively out for Mary-Kate’s neck, she’s probably pissed that she’s back with Stavros, even temporarily. Paris was most recently reconciled with Stavros late this summer, suggesting he’s her fallback boyfriend.

“They were super into each other,” clubgoer Susan McGinley tells Life & Style. Adds a second partyer [sic], Stacey Kives, “He was making moves and she was eating it up.”

The duo kissed passionately for a few minutes, says the first witness – and then Mary-Kate, 21, put her hand over her mouth and giggled.

One person wasn’t laughing. When Stavros’ on-again, off-again love Paris Hilton, 26, heard about the PDA, she was infuriated. “She thinks MK was publicly hooking up with Stavros just to piss her off,” says an insider close to Paris.

In fact, the insider says, Paris believes the hookup was all about revenge. Back in 2005, MK was in what she thought was a serious relationship with Stavros, 22, when the shipping heir started seeing Paris as well. “Mary-Kate has hated Paris ever since,” notes a mutual friend… Making matters worse, Nicky Hilton is now dating David Katzenberg, another one of Mary-Kate’s exes!

The article adds that the supposed insider claims that Paris is “totally over Stavros,” and that “she thinks he’s too young for her.”

And Mary-Kate and Stavros’ reconciliation may be more than just a fling – or not. They were also spotted out on October 24 at a fashion event, and Stavros “had his arm around her most of the night.”

Mary-Kate was most recently dating hockey player Sean Avery, but he was said to be cheating on her with his ex, Lake Bell.

Ubiquitous news wire service The Associated Press distributed an internal memo on February 13th encouraging journalists not to cover ubiquitous celebrity do-nothing Paris Hilton for a week.

“Next week,” entertainment editor Jesse Washington wrote in an e-mail memo obtained by The Transom, “the print team is planning an unconventional experiment: We are NOT going to cover Paris Hilton.

“Barring any major, major news, we are not going to put a single word about Paris on the wire,” the memo continued. “If something does come up, big or small, we encourage discussions on whether we should write about it.”

They said the decision was hard and took a lot of discussion. They were able to hold out covering Paris for a little over a week, and forced themselves not to cover Brandon Davis’ drunken outburst at her birthday dinner. After Paris got arrested for driving with a suspended license, though, they gave up and ran the story, savoring every word.

Then Hilton was arrested on Feb. 27 for driving with a suspended license — an offense that could conceivably lead to jail time because she may have violated conditions of a previous sentence. By that time, our blackout was over anyway, so reporting the development was an easy call. (On the flip side, we never got to see what repercussions there would have been if we hadn’t.)

[Lloyd] Grove [formerly of the NY Daily News] thinks the so-called “celebutante” achieved her unique brand of fame because she boasts an irresistible set of traits: wealth, a big name, beauty with a “downmarket” appeal, and a tendency to seem … oversexed. “This is what mainstream society celebrates,” he says. “She is, in the worst sense, the best expression of the maxim that no bad deed goes unrewarded in our pop culture.”

One measure of Hilton’s fame: She was No. 5 last year on the Yahoo Buzz Index, a list of overall top searches on the Web site (her ever-so-brief buddy Spears is a perennial No. 1).

Another is that US Weekly has at least a mention or a photo in just about every issue. “People now come to expect to see pictures of her,” says Caroline Schaefer, deputy editor of the celebrity magazine. “They’re intrigued by her unshakable self-esteem. People are fascinated by that.”

Jeff Jarvis, who teaches journalism at the City University of New York, decries the “one-size-fits-all disease” afflicting media outlets, who feel that “everybody’s covering it, so we must, too.” Even The New York Times, he noted, had substantial coverage of a hearing concerning where Anna Nicole Smith — perhaps the one person who rivaled Hilton in terms of fame for fame’s sake — would be buried.

“That disease leads to the Paris Hilton virus spreading through the news industry,” says Jarvis, who puts out the BuzzMachine blog.

So what have we learned from the ban? “It’s hard to tell what this really changes, since we didn’t have to make any hard decisions,” says Jesse Washington, AP’s entertainment editor. “So we’ll continue to use our news judgment on each item, individually.”

Which means that for the immediate future, if not always, we’ll still have Paris.

Lloyd Grove of the NY Daily News’ Lowdown column, which was cancelled in October, said he deliberately didn’t mention Hilton for two years because he wanted to get publicity. I know I don’t always cover stories about the milktoast heiress, but it’s hard not to mention her as Jeff Jarvis discussed because she’s freaking everywhere. There’s also something fascinating how she keeps on going no matter what happens. She’s was overheard bragging about how much money her sex tape made, and she was out working right after all her private medical records and drug-use videos came out on Paris Exposed. Apart from refusing to speak to photographers for one day she showed no outward reaction to the Paris Exposed scandal.

I know all about that phenomenon that Jeff Jarvis mentioned about how you have to cover the stories that are popular no matter how much they bug you. I’ll be reporting on Anna Nicole’s pink tasseled funeral shortly.

Greece is often hailed as the font of Western Civilization and Paris Hilton is universally acknowledged as the leading symptom of that self same WCs decline and rapid fall.

Luckily for Greece Stavros Niarchos’ family is taking one for the home team …and “>have threatened to disinherit the Greek shipping heir if he starts up with that hussy Paris again. It would be nice if thy would take an equally strong line about his George of the Jungle haircut – or early WHAM! colored highlights, but when your offspring are this tasteless … it’s all about baby steps.

The two were seen making out at the Trump Vodka launch in L.A, but were careful not to be photographed together so as to upset his family.

As to why the Hilton hotel heiress and Niarchos were so careful, well it seems that his family is not ready to welcome Paris into the fold.

An insider revealed that Stavros’ family has also threatened to cut him off from the fortune he is to inherit if he doesn’t stop hanging around with Paris and her posse.

“Word is that Stravros’ family has threatened to cut him off if he doesn’t stop going around with that crowd,”

Fearful tremors have been running through the House of Niarchos since Paris revealed in People magazine the she and the Stav infection “hooked up” again last summer in San Tropez. Apparently People Magazine is not the contemporary version of The Social Register or Debretts that Hilton mistook it for.

The Family N. had only just recovered from his first bout of Paris dating and were congratulating themselves on a close escape. Clearly sterner measures are now called for … they are betting that cashless Stav may just not have the same pulling power with the ladies … although that’s no lady … that’s Paris Hilton.

Someone made this story up during this slow holiday news week, especially considering the source is a crappier British rag, but it’s worth repeating. There’s a rumor that Paris Hilton is going to get married before Christmas and that Britney is going to be her best girl. This is BS because Paris and Britney aren’t even friends anymore, and Paris was only wearing that giant fake engagement ring for publicity, but whatever:

And yes, you did read that correctly, 25-year-old Hilton is going to become an honest woman – it’s Christmas, miracles happen – after agreeing to marry her fella.

The lucky chap is on/off boyfriend Stavros Niarchos, 21, and his fortune as the heir to a shipping dynasty should make for a good bash – although his family aren’t keen.

Hilton finally coughed about her wedding plans at the Smashbox Cosmetics Holiday in West Hollywood where she was paying homage to the Avengers’ Emma Peel.

Paris, left, who has been spotted with a sparkler bigger than the rock of Gibraltar on her engagement finger said: “It’s true, I am going to get married.

“I want a fairytale wedding and Britney’s going to be my matron of honour. She can advise me…”

However Paris, ever the savvy lady, isn’t likely to follow Britney down the yellow brick road of stupidity. There was no way that she was going to marry a loser.

Not only is Stavros a good looking boy, Ms Hilton often carries a picture of his comely visage in a locket around her neck (if it goes with her outfit, obviously).

But he’s also incredibly wadded and providing his Orthodox Greek family don’t disinherit him over his union with the racy yank, Paris could be the new Jackie Onassis.

A mole told us: “There’s no date set but she’s adamant she’d want a wedding in Los Angeles and also a big celebration over in Greece.

Britney, also 25, who was at the Smashbox bash with her mate, didn’t comment.

Stavros’ parents won’t even meet Paris, and they are said to be in consensus with the rest of us by considering her trash. This is fake news, but it would make for a fun gossip holiday if it were true.

Lindsay Lohan is said to have asked Starvos Niarchos ahead of time to make out with her in public in a bid to make Harry Morton jealous after he dumped her last week. She supposedly told Starvos that it would also get under Paris’ thin skin:

Lohan needs to get her own life and interests beyond shopping and partying if she wants to keep a man. Men hate the clingy types, and they want a woman who is secure in herself and doesn’t smother them. Lohan is said to have stalked her ex, Wilmer Valderrama, after their breakup in late 2004. It wouldn’t be surprising if she gets all Glen Close on Harry.

x17 claims to have video footage of Lohan and Harry mid-breakup, and from the looks of the guy comforting Lohan, they might be right.

Now she’s pulling high school antics to try to get Harry’s attention again. She even wore a “Team Harry” hat out. That’s so dumb it might be clever.
