Justin Bieber: ‘I’m 19 & it must be scary… to think that this is just the beginning’

Aw. Poor Justin Bieber. So tantrum-prone, so fussy, so hissy. So misunderstood! Justin knows that we’ve been talking trash about him so Justin unleashed his fury (AGAIN) on his Instagram with a lengthy message to his haters. I think this happened late Wednesday night – he posted a lengthy temper tantrum, then he deleted it, then he reposted it with some edits which we’ll get to in a moment. Here’s his original hissy fit:

“Everyone in my team has been telling me ‘keep the press happy,’ but I’m tired of all the countless lies in the press right now. Saying I’m going to rehab and how my family is disappointed in me. My family is beyond proud, and nothing’s been said by them. My grandparents wouldn’t know how to reach to press even of they did want to so that was a lie and rehab c’mon. If anyone believes I need rehab that’s their own stupidity LOL.”

“I’m 19 with 5 number one albums. 19 and I’ve seen the whole world. 19 and I’ve accomplished more than I could’ve ever dreamed of. I’m 19 and it must be scary to some people to think that this is just the beginning. I know my talent level and I know I got my head on straight. I know who I am and I know who I’m not. My message is to believe. My albums could be about anything, but my messages have been to never say never and believe. Not to believe in me, but to believe in yourself. I honestly don’t care if you don’t believe in me because I believe in me, and look where that’s gotten me so far.”

“I’m writing this with a smile on my face and love in my heart. Letting you know first hand how I feel rather than have these story linger. I’m a good person with a big heart. And don’t think I deserve all of this negative press. I’ve worked my ass off to get where I am and my hard work doesn’t stop here. i’m growing up finding myself while having people watch me and criticise me everyday i think im doing pretty damn good. And to those comparing me to Lindsey Lohan. Look at her 2012 tax statements.”

[Bieber’s original Instagram rant]

When he reposted the rant, he changed up the last few lines in which he had shaded Lindsay Lohan. He changed it to: “All this isn’t easy. I get angry sometimes. I’m human. I’m gonna make mistakes. I’m gonna grow and get better from them. But all the love from you guys overcomes the negativity. I love you. Thanks.”

So… now you know. We aren’t making fun of Justin because we think he’s an entitled, immature, unprofessional d-bag who can’t handle the slightest bit of criticism without throwing some worldwide hissy fit about it. We’re making fun of him because we’re totally JELLUS of his amazing accomplishments at the age of 19. Of course. Here’s my question: when did Justin Bieber become WORSE THAN KANYE? Because when Kanye went on insane all-caps rants, they were often funny and wry and you could tell that even though Kanye is d-baggy, he has a sense of humor and some sense of self-awareness. Justin is like Taylor Swift at this point – completely incapable of dealing with the fact that not every single person thinks the sun shines out of their ass.

Justin Bieber cancels another concert, this time in Portugal: is Bieber off the rails?

I think last week was the most coverage we’ve ever given Justin Bieber. He’s been on the verge of a total childlike temper tantrum for a while, but it all seemed to come to a head last week in London, where Justin was camped out to perform at four sold-out concerts. The week was full of drama, what with Justin’s “collapse,” hospitalization, Twitter meltdown, showing up hours late to one of the concerts, and on and on – go to the Bieber tagged posts to review. As I wrote yesterday, it seemed like Bieber spent the weekend “getting better” and he was tweeting about being “blessed” because of course. And now comes word that Justin has canceled yet another concert:

Justin Bieber is canceling one of his two scheduled shows this week in Portugal “due to unforeseen circumstances” … this according to the website for the venue.

Bieber is scheduled to play the Pavilhao Atlantico in Lisbon on March 11 and March 12, but the site now says the second show is canceled.

A statement posted on the site (and translated thanks to the good folks at Google) reads, “Due to unforeseen circumstances, Justin Bieber was forced to cancel the second performance in Portugal, March 12.”

It continues, “The Canadian singer is eager to play for the Portuguese fans on March 11. Holders of tickets valid for March 12 should contact the respective place of purchase to receive a refund within 30 days of the date of the scheduled concert, which ends April 11.”

It’s unclear what the unforeseen circumstances are, but he was hospitalized last week after collapsing backstage (though that wouldn’t explain why he’s canceling the SECOND show).

He also tweeted earlier today simply, “#sundayfunday.”

[From TMZ]

The UK papers claim that Bieber canceled the concert because of low ticket sales and because Justin has never gotten so much bad press in his life as he did this past week. But! Justin’s manager Scooter Braun told Gossip Cop that the concert was canceled “due to logistical problems with the unions” – meaning that Bieber’s stage couldn’t be taken down quickly enough in London and brought to Portugal. Braun also told Gossip Cop, “The British tabloids are full of sh*t.” O RLY?! Excuse me if I don’t believe Baby Bieber’s mouthpiece (a man named Scooter!) when Justin has been all over the map lately, and it wouldn’t be impossible to consider that a concert was canceled just because Justin is a tantrumy baby who doesn’t give a crap.

Also – Us Weekly had a bizarre explanatory story about why Justin was wandering around London wearing a gas mask. According to sources, “The gas mask Justin has been wearing around London is a joke between his friends, but people are starting to take it seriously… Justin’s close friend Julian Keyz (a young songwriter/producer also known as Julkeys) also wears it to pretend he’s Justin and throw people off as they’re the same height. All his friends take turns wearing it as a joke to throw off the paparazzi. It’s not a serious thing, they’re just having fun around London with it.” Hey, remember when Britney Spears used to wander around LA in busted wiglets, speaking in a fake British accent? That’s what this reminded me of.

Justin Bieber wears a gas mask, has a major Twitter meltdown in London

Here are some new photos of Justin Bieber last night in London. He was out at Mr. Chow’s, although I don’t know if he kept the gas mask on to eat or whether the gas mask is part of his new shtick, like he’s now a James-Franco-style performance artist. I bet Franco is pissed off that HE is not wearing a gas mask everywhere too. I bet Franco is like, “It speaks to the pervasive and ubiquitous ART and damage and music we all participate in, because we are all gas masks, we are all gas, we are all Justin Bieber. FRANCO OUT.” If you thought that was nonsensical, Justin actually had a major hissy fit on his Twitter last night too. Here’s the rant:

In case you can only read statements that are written like someone who actually speaks English, Justin tweeted this:

Rumors rumors and more rumors. nothing more nothing less. might talk about them one day. Right now I’m just gonna be positive. Can’t bring me down. I’m focused on the good things in life. I’m blessed and not forgetting it. I’m giving back every day for it. Can’t phase me. Fake stories to sell papers I guess are part of the job. But I’m a good person. i know that. u cant tell me different. We know the truth. As long as my family, friends, and fans r with me u can say whatever. we are all equal in God’s eyes & we have a responsibility to each other. so make up stories about fake fines and make no mention of the positive.

Or say when i came out of my show with my shirt off because after performing for 2 hours i might be sweaty i was going into a club (really?) or any girl i stand next to is my girl or that i don’t care, or that i don’t feel, or that a 19 year old going to a club in Europe is wild… i understand it is part of the job to be judged…but judge me on the facts, judge me on the music, and be careful of the judgment u pass. But know this…im only judged by one power, and i serve him. so yeah I will continue being me. i will continue to serve, to perform, to care, to love, to smile, to dance, to play, to sing… and u are welcome to join, because i carry no hate. We got to much love for that. Im about the music. Gonna enjoy the day and keep smiling. so should all of u. Much love. i see u #beliebers = i love u.

Um, really? Maybe I’m too old for this crap (true story), but I don’t understand why some mild criticism of Justin Bieber warrants this kind of self-martyrdom via Twitter. You’d think that this was the first time anyone ever said something mean about Justin… oh. I get it. This IS the first time, right? Poor baby. Put on your big boy panties and take off that stupid gas mask and take the criticism standing up, d-bag.

Kanye West throws a hissy fit about his ranking on MTV’s ‘Hottest MCs’ list

Have you ever heard of The Streisand Effect? It’s definitely a First World Problem, of course, and it’s about a phenomenon in the celebrity world. “The Streisand Effect” is when a celebrity pitches a fit (legally or just in the media) about a barely-publicized story or photograph and because of the massive celebrity fit, the original photograph, story or event gets WAY more attention. Celebrities do this inadvertently all the time when they go out of their way to deny a specific tabloid story that barely got any play. The phrase “the Streisand Effect” began when Barbra Streisand pitched a fit about photos of her Malibu estate taken from a helicopter – she sued the photographer and made it into such a big deal that photos of her property got even wider play.

Anyway, Kanye West is Streisand Effectin’ all over the place. MTV released a completely inconsequential list of “the Hottest MCs” of all time. Sway is hosting some kind of special about it, so I guess if you’re not tuned in to MTV all the time, you would have had no idea. MTV and VH1 do these lists and “specials” of the “Best of” whatever all the time. So Sway has the list, and Kanye is on it. But ‘Ye is only listed at #7!!!! Don’t you know that Kanye is THE GREATEST OF ALL TIME?!?!? So Kanye called into Hot 97 to complain:

Kanye West is riled up about his ranking in the rap community. The hip-hop superstar and first-time father-to-be called in to New York City’s Hot 97 radio station on Tuesday, March 5, to dispute being named named the No. 7 “Hottest MC” by MTV.

“I feel like for them to put me at No. 7, they had to bring up things they didn’t like, like they didn’t like Cruel Summer album,” he said of his poorly-received effort. “And I’m, like, ‘That’s a compilation. It’s not all rappers on [it].” He then listed several of the album’s songs, like “Mercy” and “Clique,” as examples of underrated tracks. “You can’t name five records like that on an album,” he argued.

West claimed the list’s creators were biased in other rap artists’ favor. “What happens with these type of things and the people that review it, when I come in and I have the pink polo and the backpack, I’m checking all the boxes of that A Tribe Called Quest era and all that, so they want to champion it,” the musician said. “They don’t like Givenchy Kanye. They don’t like Kanye in a kilt, they don’t like Kanye in a relationship.”

The outspoken star added that his verse in “Cold,” which was reportedly aimed at girlfriend Kim Kardashian’s estranged husband, Kris Humphries, was superior to anything his peers did in the last year. “Ain’t no bar of the past 12 months that’s hotter than that bar,” he said.

West said Lil Wayne deserved the the title of “Hottest MC” and added that Jay-Z and Eminem “are the greatest rappers of all time. He also praised his “Mercy” collaborator Big Sean, who edged him out for the No. 6 spot.

“I’m happy for Sean,” West told DJ Enuff during The Angie Martinez Show. “But I feel like he should be on top 5. He’s bodying records, like the way he started off that ‘Mercy.’” The top four MCs have yet to be revealed.

[From Us Weekly]

Thus far, the list is: #3. Rick Ross, #4. Nas #5. Drake, #6. Big Sean, #7. Kanye West, #8. A$AP Rocky, #9. Future, #10. Meek Mill. I have honestly NEVER heard of 8 through 10, so I guess I’m out of touch with MCs. But seriously, do people really get upset about this? Maybe Kanye does have a point – I think he’s more talented than Drake and Big Sean, for sure, although I’d probably put ‘Ye about even with Nas. But was Kanye the right person to make a big stink about it? Does anyone really care this much about a random list? Now I want to know who gets #1. It’s Jay-Z, right? Also: sorry ‘Ye, but Cruel Summer sucked. You’ve made incredible albums in the past, but Givenchy Kanye and Cruel Summer are made of dumb.

Is Brad Pitt is acting like a tantrumy baby during the ‘World War Z’ reshoots?

At some point last year, I started calling the film shoot of World War Z “the never-ending production.” Because it was. Brad Pitt was filming WWZ for most of last year, all over Europe. There was a Croatia shoot. There was a Budapest shoot. There was a London shoot. There was Scotland shoot. There was a studio shoot. It went on and on and on, and then they announced this year that Brad was going to have to come back and do extensive reshoots. Brad is not just the lead actor on the project – he’s also producing it. He actually nurtured this project from its infancy, buying the rights to the book and hand-picking Marc Forster as director. So what’s gone wrong? Well, the budget has bloated up to more than $170 million. Many sources say Forster got in over his head, and that Forster is the problem, fighting with Brad and his cinematographer and producers over every little thing. Some say Brad simply doesn’t care enough of the project, choosing to focus his attention on his various other film commitments and side-projects. Some say WWZ was always going to be a difficult film to adapt for the screen. Whatever is going on, the reshoots – which are happening right now – are going very badly. Vulture reported that Brad and Marc Forster aren’t even speaking to each other!

The horde of zombies in Paramount Pictures’ World War Z aren’t the only ones ravenous for brains: So is the troubled blockbuster’s star and producer, Brad Pitt, who Vulture hears exclusively from multiple production sources has become so frustrated with the film’s director, Marc Forster, that he stopped speaking to him altogether as the production heads into at least three weeks of reshoots.

Things got so bad that when Forster had notes on a scene for Pitt, they had to be relayed through an intermediary — and vice versa. We’re told that this awkward function was and is being largely fulfilled by a rotating trio of studio production president Marc Evans, Paramount film group head Adam Goodman, and Dede Gardner, a former executive at the studio who now runs Pitt’s company. And all this as the production crests $170 million as it heads into its costly reshoots, with an ending that is still in flux. (A representative for Creative Artists Agency, which represents both Pitt and Forster, declined to comment. Calls to Paramount were not returned by deadline.)

Ironically, Pitt, whose company, Plan B, is producing World War Z, originally fought for Forster to be given the director’s chair on World War Z. The studio was wary, because his only other big-budget action film was Quantum of Solace, the 2008 James Bond film that proved a notoriously difficult shoot; this was due to the rush to beat the clock on a looming 2007 Writers Guild of America strike, but sources say that problems were also partly a result of Forster having never shot a big-budget action movie before. Pitt was able to get Forster on the project, no doubt because of his history with Paramount chairman Brad Grey, who not only used to be his manager, but also was a partner in Plan B.

And now the zombie-apocalypse film seems to be plagued by a similar combination of scheduling, script, and directorial problems. The film was rushed into production in July 2011 in order to make a Christmas 2012 release date, even though the script wasn’t entirely ready. This speed proved for naught, as when both Paramount execs and Pitt became unhappy with how some of the big action set pieces were turning out, especially one at the end of the film that wasn’t cutting together properly, the studio decided to bump the film’s release until June of 2013. And in May, it was announced that Z would be returning to Budapest to shoot several weeks of additional material as well as reshoot some original scenes.

Now Paramount is trying to decide whether to just try to fix what they have or get writers to completely re-envision the film’s finale. “The studio is cultivating multiple options,” explains one of our production spies. “One is to try scrapping [the ending] and trying something different: They want to construct an entirely new ending to the movie. The other is to try salvaging it, because decent action can be elevated, and even shitty action can be saved. This is not an unmitigated disaster; it is salvageable.”

Last month, Lost exec producer and Prometheus scriptwriter Damon Lindelof was brought in to watch the movie and make suggestions to Paramount on what fixes were needed. “Body and fender work,” as it’s known in the talent agency business, is a common enough practice: A boldface-name screenwriter is brought in, makes notes, and suggests changes that are usually fixed with a few days of reshoots or additional production.

Problem is, sources tell us that Lindelof said the script needed months of work, not days — something he didn’t have time for — and changes were needed throughout the film, not just at the end. He did agree to work with his former Lost colleague Drew Goddard (Cloverfield, Cabin in the Woods) for the better part of a month to come up with framework script solutions. The studio is also reaching out to other writers, including Christopher McQuarrie, who did on-set rewrites for Paramount’s Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol. (Though he may be too busy: He’s directing Tom Cruise’s Jack Reacher for the studio, which bumped that movie up to take Z’s old Christmas slot.)

Production sources tell Vulture that it is Pitt, not Forster, who has final approval over all the new pages generated by whatever writers work on the project over the next three weeks. And the communication breakdown between actor and director over how to reshoot it severely limits Paramount’s ability to foresee an end to production. Until the pages are approved, a budget cannot be calculated. And until a budget is tallied, the amount of time that will be spent to make the changes can’t be determined, either.

Meanwhile, another source inside World War Z adds that whatever happens with the script, additional — and possibly outside — directing help is likely to be sought for the action sequences that will need to be reshot. “They have to be careful, because the DGA has strict rules that say Forster has to be there on the set,” says this source, “But someone is likely to be brought in to help direct the new action scenes.”

All of this suggests some eventful weeks to come, but for now, the studio is, uh, dead quiet about what to do about the eerily “silent” partnership between Pitt and Forster.

[From Vulture]

Ugh, Damon Lindelof. I can’t even tell you how disappointed I am that Lindelof has anything to do with the script “fixes” (“Throw in a Space Jesus!”). But if Christopher McQuarrie gets his hands on it, maybe something will be worked out. It does sound like the problems go beyond “rewriting the ending” and “a few scenes could be cut.” This sounds like a complete disaster, with enough blame to go around for anyone. I would like to believe that Brad – who, by most accounts, is a consummate professional – wouldn’t be giving the silent treatment to his director. But maybe he’s just SO “over it” at this point, he can’t even pretend to be working sh-t out. Or maybe he re-hired that cute brunette assistant and he’s not paying attention to anything else.

Chris Brown was a gigantic, violent baby at a club before the Billboard Music Awards

Chris Brown was at the Billboard Music Awards two nights ago. Apparently, he performed – although he didn’t sing live, he just lip sync’d and danced. I only know that because I saw that Pink and Carey Hart were bitching about how Chris jacked/copied one of Pink’s old performances. I didn’t watch that mess – I was watching Sherlock and Mad Men (and you should have been watching those shows too). Anyway, just one night before the Billboard Music Awards, Chris Brown had some kind of incident at a club. Because he’s a gigantic, violent baby.

Chris Brown’s famous temper flared up again before the Billboard Music Awards when he angrily confronted a stranger over a group of girls in a top Vegas club. According to witnesses, Brown spent more than two hours Saturday night at Haze at Aria charming a group of young women and buying multiple bottles of Champagne.

But one witness said, “Brown got visibly upset when the girls moved on to the next table. Brown approached the guys in the group [at the next table] and started getting visibly agitated. Brown stood up, and looked like he was about to start a fight when club security stopped him.”

While Brown’s rep insisted the account was “not true,” our witness continued: “He got in the guy’s face and was cursing at him, and saying, ‘Are these girls with you or with me?’ The guy was stunned by it. Things were close to getting extremely ugly. Then Chris’ security and club security escorted him out.”

A Haze rep confirmed there was an incident involving Brown but declined to go into detail. The club rep said, “Haze has a zero tolerance policy for violence.”

Brown performed his hit “Turn Up the Music” at Sunday’s Billboard awards with an impressive dance routine, but sparked some backlash over his alleged lip-syncing.

After picking up the Top R&B Artist award, he later dined with Justin Bieber at N9NE Steakhouse in Palms Resort Casino with a group of 30 friends, feasting on surf and turf and lobster mash. Brown later went on to celebrate at Vanity Nightclub inside the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino with bottles of Ace of Spades Champagne, but declined photos with fans.

Earlier on Friday night at Marquee, Brown — this time out with his girlfriend Karrueche Tran — treated the packed house to a surprise performance. He got on the mike during Benny Benassi’s set, launching into their hit song “Beautiful People” and their new song “Don’t Wake Me Up,” dedicating it to all the ladies.

[From Page Six]

Yeah, I believe the witness and the club, not Chris’s enablers and delusional representatives. That’s what always bugs me about Chris’s defenders – they always scream and cry about Chris having “changed” and “learned his lesson” after he violently attacked Rihanna. But what evidence is there of his change? What evidence is there of his lessons learned? I think the only lesson he’s learned is that he can be a temperamental, violent a–hole with little to no repercussions. Also: what is the deal with Karrueche Tran? She’s fine with Chris sleeping with Rihanna, trying to hook up with random club girls, and much, much more. I guess she doesn’t want to confront him about his infidelities. Would you?

Someone new has come out in defense of Chris too – British C-lister Cheryl Cole. During a radio interview a few days ago, Cheryl said: “I think it’s really kind of Rihanna [to forgive Brown]… She’s come out and publicly forgiven him, really… I think it’s about time we all [forgave Brown], if I’m completely honest, if you want my opinion. I think it’s time we all moved on. That guy is talented as hell.” Chris was all over it, of course, tweeting Cheryl a message: “You’re amazing! I appreciate you. Thanks for the support and believing in me as an artist.” Disgusting. Enough.

Lea Michele threw a temper tantrum before & during the Met Gala

wenn3321975

Many of you disagreed with me, but I thought Lea Michele looked nice in this red Escada gown at the Met Gala a few weeks ago. Some of you thought she looked prom-y, and yeah, you’re right. But I liked the look overall on Lea specifically. I think Lea tends to get too girly and princess-y with her style, so I liked seeing her in a relatively clean silhouette, a bold color, and styled for her features (rather than what was trendy). She was a TV Girl who looked nice, that’s what I thought. As it turns out, Lea had just come out of a massive temper tantrum when we saw her on the red carpet:

Glee’s Lea Michele may have looked like a fairy princess at the recent Met Costume Institute Gala in New York, but behind the scenes, she behaved more like a wicked witch! An insider says she was very upset before hitting the red carpet because “she didn’t want to wear anything her stylist sent her and she hated all the dresses,” which her rep denies.

Annoyed that her stylist was in LA, Lea “just kept saying that she hated everything – she was crying and having a fit!” says the insider.

“You would have thought Lea was the next Queen of England when you saw her having a royal fit,” laughs the insider.

An eye witness adds that while A-listers like Madonna and Sarah Jessica Parker stopped to talk to reporters, Lea stormed past without a word. Sounds like she could use a trip to charm school!

[From In Touch Weekly, print edition]

Well, she didn’t really “storm past” anybody because there are enough photos of her at several photo agencies that I know she posed on the red carpet for long enough. Plus, she stopped to talk to Gwyneth Paltrow, who deigned to allow Lea to see the Divine Goop nostrils from a new angle.

wenn3324934

So, do I believe this story? Meh. I mean, I don’t believe that Lea “stormed past” but I’ll buy that she had a fashion tantrum. She seems like the type. And she seems like the type to never realize at any point during the tantrum that she’s a B-lister at an A-list event. In other words, most people would be paying attention to other, more important people. That would never occur to Lea though.

Chris Brown’s West Hollywood neighbors hate him, want him out of his condo

breezy1

Chris Brown tweeted this photo a few hours ago – the Sisqo look is officially over. I have to say, I’m glad. The blonde made Chris look especially unhinged.

On Friday, Page Six reported that Chris Brown’s publicist, a woman named Tammy Brook, had dumped him as a client just days after his Good Morning America meltdown. At first, the announcement really did seem to be about a publicist realizing she could do nothing to help Chris Brown’s image, considering he’s a violent sociopath who will never change or be redeemed whatsoever. But hours after the announcement, Tammy Brook released some kind of BS statement about how she had just been hired to help Chris promote his album, and her job was now done. Sure. If you believe that, then good for you.

Although Chris’s album did go to number one, he’s still having problems, as we can see. And when Chris is having problems, we should all watch our collective asses, because the boy doesn’t function well when everyone is not kissing his ass. Radar reports this morning that Chris’s new problem is that all of his West Hollywood neighbors hate him. He’s really loud, he throws parties, and he’s disrespectful. God, I would hate to live next door to him. Can you imagine how much that would suck?

When you think of who would make the perfect neighbor, Chris Brown probably isn’t the first person that springs to mind, and residents in his swanky West Hollywood condo building can confirm, he’s far from ideal.

In fact, a source tells RadarOnline.com that the 21-year-old Forever singer is driving his neighbors nuts with his loud music, constant stream of friends visiting all hours of the night and day and his disrespectful manner.

“Chris Brown is a problematic tenant, to say the least,” the source says. “He has his posse traipsing around until the late hours of the night, he’s loud and totally disrespectful of his neighbors.

“He’s driving the other tenants in the building crazy. The vast majority of the residents are professionals and they work during the day, so it’s important to them to get some rest at night and that’s proving difficult with the noise that’s being generated. The building isn’t meant to be some kind of party house, the residents don’t want that and they don’t want to live in that kind of environment. The tenants are complaining about him and the noise he’s generating, they’ve even had to give him at least one warning. He needs to keep the volume down – people are sick of his behavior.”

Brown spent close to $1.75 million on the 3,000 square foot, three bedroom, three-and-a-half bathroom penthouse condo, and only recently moved into the property.

“It’s crazy,” the source says. “He just moved in around a month ago and he’s already received a warning. The tenants are just really worried – if he’s like this straight off the bat, they wonder if it’s going to get any worse.”

[From Radar]

I wonder if there’s a condo board? Probably not, or else how would they have let Chris Brown in, right? Well, there’s not much the residents can do at this point except call the cops whenever they hear a woman screaming, or something crashing or breaking. But by then, it will probably be too late.

Chris Brown apologizes: “I just wanted to release the anger that I had inside me”

wenn3261424

Yesterday, Chris Brown made an appearance on BET’s 106 & Park, and he “apologized” for his violent freakout on GMA Tuesday morning. Chris actually went into detail about the incident, not just giving a standard-issue apology. But, like with so much about Chris, his explanation and justifications only make the situation worse. This boy is a disaster, and he obviously surrounds himself with some of the worst public relations people in the world. Here’s what he said and we’ll talk about it afterwards:

Chris Brown “apologized to anyone he startled” after he presumably broke a window ABC’s New York City studios following Tuesday’s Good Morning America appearance, in which he was agitated after ABC’s Robin Roberts questioned him about the brutal beating he laid on his then-girlfriend Rihanna in 2009.

The Forever singer, appearing on BET’s 106 & Park on Wednesday, said he “had to blow off steam and let out the anger” after the appearance, in which he wanted to promote his new album F.A.M.E. — and not dwell on past events.

“First of all, I just wanna apologize to anybody who was startled in the office, anybody who was offended or really disappointed in my actions, because I was disappointed with the way I acted,” Brown said Wednesday. “A lot of people don’t know what went down, and obviously when I do shows or when I do interviews, we always send out a talking point sheet. As the interview proceeded, it was kinda thrown off. I was thrown off by it. I felt like they told us this just so they could get us on the show so they can exploit me. So I took it very, very hard and I really kinda kept my composure throughout the whole interview, although you can see me upset, I kept my composure, I did my performance.”

Brown continued, “And when I got back [stage] I just let off steam. I didn’t physically hurt anyone, I didn’t try to hurt anyone, I just wanted to release the anger that I had inside me because I felt that I worked so hard for this music and I felt like people kept just trying to take it away from me. So yes, I got very emotional, and I wanna apologize for acting like that.”

The 21-year old singer also implored his fans not to send any negative messages to Roberts, saying, “Do not send any threats, anything like that, I’ve been hearing things on Twitter — we need to take a stand and focus on the more positive things in life.”

[From Radar]

First: he was “thrown off” because he was asked questions that his people and GMA producers had agreed on beforehand. Ridiculous. And even if Chris didn’t technically and explicitly know that he was going to be asked about the Rihanna incident, it doesn’t bode well if this is how he acts when something doesn’t go his way. He throws a violent hissy fit, a tantrum in which there is destruction of property. AT BEST.

Second: “I just wanted to release the anger that I had inside me because I felt that I worked so hard for this music and I felt like people kept just trying to take it away from me.” What’s really scary is that I believe that Chris is being 100% honest right here. This is his mindset – these are the thoughts that go through his head, these are the justifications he gives himself. He gets angry and smashes something, and we should forgive him because he didn’t hurt anyone THIS TIME. And we shouldn’t bring up the Rihanna beating ever again because it’s obvious that he’s dealt with his anger issues properly, right? Because Chris knows that when someone isn’t focusing on what he wants them to focus on – THE MUSIC – he smashes things. Like windows. Like faces. And we should forgive him because he that’s just how he “releases” his anger. It’s his process.

Also part of his process? Celebrating his great week by grinding on a stripper at his record release party. Ugh.

In case you’re feeling sick to your stomach after this story, I suggest you go here to Videogum and read their excellent open letter to ABC News/GMA. They take ABC to task for not pressing charges against Chris and for “indulging and encouraging” Chris’s behavior. It’s a great read.

Chris Brown is whiny bitch, wishes people would focus on the music

fp_7021269_brownchris_ffame_ini_09_10

Here’s what happened yesterday: Chris Brown came to the GMA studio early in the morning, and GMA producers and anchor Robin Roberts talked to Chris and his people and they got the okay to talk on camera about how Chris Brown beat the hell out of Rihanna, and everything after that. The interview – a brief affair lasting less than five minutes – went forward, and it was obvious that Chris began to tense up as Robin continued to ask questions relating to the incident. Some might even say that Chris looked like he might want to punch Robin in the face, although she’s not scared of him – she said later that she’s “pulling for the guy.” Anyhoodle, after the interview, Chris stormed off the set, started screaming at his people and the GMA people and then he smashed a chair into a window. Glass fell onto the New York street, security was called, but Chris wasn’t done. He was supposed to do one more performance, but when a producer tried to remind Chris, he faced off with the guy. At some point, Chris ripped off his shirt and left it off, walking out of the studio shirtless to the delight of the one paparazzo who snapped pics.

So… what does this all mean? Chris is still on probation for the Rihanna beat down, but there is a lot of confusion as to whether this incident will affect his probation whatsoever. Radar claims that GMA staffers didn’t get the NYPD involved, so because there was no police action, it won’t affect Chris. TMZ has a source who claims that the cops were called, but they also have a NYPD source who says that no officers were dispatched. In the chance (however small) that there was some police action, TMZ guesses at the possible charges: vandalism (for the window and the trashed dressing room) and assault on the passersby(s) on the street who might have been hit by falling glass.

Beyond the small chance, the remote possibility that there could be some longer-term repercussions for Chris, what does this incident mean? Well, it’s given him yet another forum to act like a whiny little bitch. People Magazine (celebrity bible) has an article up using quotes from a source close to Chris. The source has the same delusions as Chris, so you be the judge:

Chris Brown’s latest album F.A.M.E. may signify a new beginning for him, but the singer can’t seem to avoid questions about pleading guilty to felony assault against ex-girlfriend Rihanna almost two years ago.

Brown, 21, who lost his temper Tuesday morning after an interview on Good Morning America with Robin Roberts in which she asked about Rihanna, “is upset” by what transpired on the show, a source tells PEOPLE.

“He’s been trying to move on from his past and focus on his music, and he’s finally putting out an album,” the source says. “Why can’t we focus on that? He makes great music and he loves his fans. He’s a good kid.”

Even before the live GMA segment, another source says rehearsals were “tense,” at one point causing Brown to “flip out” even before his appearance.

But his tone shifted later, and Brown took to Twitter to talk up his album and praise his fans. “Thank you to everyone who supports my music!!!” he wrote. “Key Word (music) !!! Love y’all.”

This came in response to an outpouring of support from fans. “The media is just trying to bring you down,” one Brown devotee Tweeted. “DON’T LET THEM!!!!!”

Brown, who continued the promotional rounds and continued Tweeting on Tuesday afternoon, also received Twitter love from fellow hip-hop artists, including Diddy and Keri Hilson.

“Yall go out & get my boy @chrisbrown’s new album ‘F.A.M.E’ in stores TODAAAAY!!!” Brown’s “Superhuman” collaborator Hilson wrote. “His talent is undeniable. I’m proud of you, CB!! Love you!”

[From People]

That made me sick. “He makes great music and he loves his fans. He’s a good kid.” NO. He’s not. Good kids don’t beat the hell out of their girlfriends. Good kids don’t throw violent temper tantrums and smash windows.

At some point, however, my absolute loathing for Chris has become less about the one incident with Rihanna, and more about everything that came after: his raging ignorance, narcissism, his lack of remorse, his insensitivity, etc. Look at the characteristics of a psychopath and tell me you aren’t wondering if Chris will one day, probably very soon, kill someone. And I’m sure that when he does, it will be somebody else’s fault.

UPDATE: TMZ reports this morning that ABC isn’t pressing charges against Chris. TMZ’s NYPD sources say that because there is no “complaining victim,” there is no investigation to conduct. What the hell, ABC?

By the way, these are photos of Chris several hours after the GMA incident. Yeah, I know. He looks all broken up.
