David Duchovny’s 28-year old tennis coach alludes to an affair

Californication’s David Duchovny is in the midst of what is quickly looking like a messy divorce from his wife of 11 years, actress Tea Leoni. David was recently treated for sex addiction, which was described as being an addiction to internet porn, and not infidelity, however, after reportedly having accused Tea of cheating with Billy Bob Thornton, word comes that Duchovny may not have just been practicing his backhand at his $200 an hour tennis lessons.

And perhaps to compound the cliche of a middle-aged man in a marital crisis, 28-year-old Edit Pakay looks every inch a younger version of Duchovny’s 42-year-old wife.

Speaking last night, Edit admitted: ‘We have a very, very close friendship. I don’t want to be the third person in the marriage but I know it can be seen that way.

‘David and I are very close friends and we still play tennis together. He’s an excellent player. He likes physically strong, fit women.

‘He is in great shape. He is a wonderful man. He’s a very intelligent, very kind and good man.’

When asked directly if her relationship with the film and TV star had developed into a full-blown sexual affair, Edit said: ‘I don’t want to say anything that might hurt David. I am not going to deny it. I don’t know what our relationship means to him.’

[From Daily World]

Edit’s words are a little more incriminating than Tea saying BBT is her favorite person in the world. I’ve said my boss was my favorite person in the world after he gave me a raise, but it wasn’t true and I certainly wasn’t sleeping with him! A friend of the tennis pro says that Pakay is in love with Duchovny and that the sexual part of the affair has been going on for more than six months.

David Duchovny is just one of those men who want to have their cake and eat it, too, as far as I’m concerned. He prefaces his cheating on Tea Leoni by rationalizing that all men think about it and that Tea wasn’t shocked by his “addiction”, that she knows his thoughts. I hate to break it to you, but telling your wife you think about it doesn’t let you off the hook for doing it. You don’t get a pass because you made a premeditated excuse.

Worst of all, David and Tea have children that are 9 and 6 years old. All of the trash that is being strewn isn’t something that their children might run across later in life, it’s something that, at the very least, their 9-year old can easily see and hear now, right as she’s having to deal with her parents divorce. I guess it’s too much to ask that these celebrities learn a little bit of discretion for the sake of their children.

Note by Celebitchy: I guess we know that blind item in Star Magazine this summer was about Duchovny. It read “Which married TV star whose big summer movie just bombed is sleeping with his tennis instructor on the side? His wife has no idea her hubby is scoring on and off the court.” She sure knows now.

Billy Bob Thornton denies affair w/ Tea Leoni, says he no longer wants fame

Billy Bob Thornton was cited as the reason for the recent split of Tea Leoni and her sex-addict recovering husband David Duchovny, after Duchovny alledgedly found steamy text messages from Thornton to Tea. Thornton and Leoni recently filmed a movie together and the actor says that the rumors of them having a relationship are not true.

Billy Bob Thornton has denied he is romancing Tea Leoni.

The 53-year-old actor, who was reported to have been secretly dating Tea after meeting her on the set of their new film ‘Manure’, insists their relationship is purely professional.

Billy Bob’s representative said: “Billy and Tea are friends. They recently completed shooting a film together.”

Tea - who has been married to David for 11 years and has two children with him - further fuelled relationship rumours by praising her ‘Manure’ co-star.

She said: “We have this incredible cast with Billy Bob Thornton, who is maybe my new favourite person in the world.”

[From 92.9 Entertainment]

While I’m sure that statement didn’t help to quell the rumors, it’s hardly the kind of thing one would say about a secret lover. It’s more a “working-with-him-was-inspiring” kind of comment than a “sleeping-with-him-is-hot-and-dirty-and-I-love-it”. Tea has remained silent about everything, from her husband’s rehab for sex addiction to the latest rumors of infidelity on her part. She seems to be handling all of it with a sense of decency.

But the silence doesn’t help Billy Bob, and he’s to the point where he’d like to just hang up the famous. Having been married to one of the most controversial and discussed women in the world, Thornton says it’s easy to try to wish yourself into obscurity. He seemed to lap up the publicity to me, it was usually him doing the talking during their “we had sex in the car on the way over” phase, but he kinda tried to drop out of the picture when the divorce came along. Thornton says now, he would rather leave the fame behind and just be in a band.

I always want to be annonymous in every aspect of my life,” said Billy Bob at the Country Music Hall of Fame’s All For The Hall benefit in New York, where he was singing with his band, the Boxmasters.

“I’ve been famous for a long time — I’m tired of that s**t. I just want to be in a band.”

But the Eagle Eye star, who won an Oscar for Switch Blade, says that once you’ve chosen a life in the spotlight, there’s no going back.

“You can’t not be famous once you are. Once you’ve screwed a bunch of pretty girls and won an Academy Award, you’re screwed,” complains Billy Bob.

[From OK! Magazine]

I’m going to go out on a limb here and suggest to BBT that he stop making movies if he’s looking to get out of the fame business. It wouldn’t take as much as he thinks it would for his star to flame out.

David Duchovny & Tea Leoni announce split - Billy Bob Thornton to blame?

First Guy and Madonna, and now another Hollywood divorce casualty: Former “X-Files” star David Duchovny and his wife of 11 years, actress Tea Leoni, have confirmed their separation. In a statement released by Duchovny’s rep, the pair revealed that they have been living separate lives for quite some time - even before David’s recent stint in rehab for sexual addiction. New reports coming in are speculating that David’s sexual addiction may not be the only factor in the split.

David Duchovny, who recently left rehab for sex addiction, and wife Téa Leoni released a statement Wednesday saying they have been separated for some time.

“In light of continuous speculation over the lives and marriage of Tea Leoni and David Duchovny, the couple has confirmed that they have in fact been separated for several months,” the statement says. “The couple had hoped to keep this separation private for the sake of their children.”

Duchovny, 48, has been married to actress Leoni since 1997. They have two children, daughter Madelaine West, 9, and son Kyd, 6.

The actor voluntarily entered rehab last summer “for the treatment of sex addiction,” he said in a statement issued in August.

Earlier this month, Duchnovny had “successfully completed the rehab program,” his lawyer said. Duchovny was then spotted with Leoni at the Czech Street Festival in Manhattan.

[From People]

Meanwhile, The Daily Mail is reporting that David was the one who called it quits after finding explicit text messages on Tea Leoni’s cell phone- from none other than Angelina Jolie’s ex, Billy Bob Thornton. Huh?

X Files star David Duchovny and his actress wife Téa Leoni have split up after he discovered explicit text messages on her mobile phone sent by actor Billy Bob Thornton.

Just two months after Téa, 42, encouraged her ’sex addict’ husband to check himself into a rehabilitation clinic the couple are separating after 11 years and two children.

Through text messages on his wife’s mobile phone Duchovny discovered she had begun a relationship with Oscar-winning actor Billy Bob Thornton, 53, who was formerly married to Angelina Jolie.

Five-times married Billy Bob met Téa when they made a comedy film together earlier this year called Manure.

Thornton, a musician with his own band, has been seen with Téa at his gigs. ‘She even helps him load and unload his truck,’ says a friend of the couple.

Thornton, who starred as the U.S. president in Love Actually, has three children by his various wives, plus a four-year-old daughter by his current girlfriend, Connie Angland.

But he is reported as saying that he won’t wed again because marriage ‘doesn’t work’ for him.

It was Téa who persuaded her husband to receive treatment for ’sexual compulsion proclivity’ at the Meadows clinic in Arizona, followed by further treatment at the Keystone centre in Pennsylvania.

‘Yes, they have separated,’ says Téa’s spokeswoman. ‘She is living on her own with the children in New York, but we did not want to announce it for the sake of the children until after David had received treatment for his problems.’

[From The Daily Mail]

I wasn’t too busted up over Guy and Madonna, but this one makes me sad, even if some people did call it. Tea and David always seemed like a grounded couple who really dug each other. But you never really know what’s going on in a marriage behind the scenes.

Did David Duchovny cheat on Tea Leoni for years?

The National Enquirer is set to report that David Duchovny didn’t go to sex rehab for an Internet porn addiction, as has been rumored, he went because he was plain cheating on his wife, as everyone assumed from the start. The Enquirer says that he got busted and instead of getting his ass handed to him his wife Tea Leoni told him he could go to rehab as a last ditch effort to save their marriage of 11 years.

David Duchovny cheated on his wife for years before finally entering a rehab clinic for sex addiction according to a US magazine.

The X Files star allegedly agreed to seek treatment after heartbroken Tea Leoni discovered his indiscretions and threatened to divorce him.

‘He said Tea gave him an ultimatum: Get treatment or our marriage is over,’ a source is quoted as telling the National Enquirer.

‘She felt it was ruining their marriage and affecting their kids.’

The actor has been married to the Deep Impact actress for 11 years, and the couple have a daughter, Madelaine West, nine, and a six-year-old son, Kyd.

According to the source, Duchovny has admitted that he is compulsively driven to be unfaithful and finds it impossible to turn down the legions of women who offer themselves to him.

Leoni is said to have grown suspicious of her husband’s behaviour in recent months and after questioning him on a number of occasions, the 48-year-old finally admitted that he had been cheating on her.

Duchovny checked into The Meadows facility in Arizona last week and is currently completing a 35 day course. His wife has been to visit him at the centre several times.

‘Tea drove to The Meadows every day during the four days she was in town,’ the source is quoting as saying.

Although they are still very much in love, the pair’s marriage is though to be hanging by a thread.

In a statement, before his admittance the actor said: ‘I have voluntarily entered a facility for the treatment of sex addiction

[From The Daily Mail]

If the National Enquirer reported it, it’s much more likely to be based on credible sources than some other gossip magazines, and it’s likely to be true. Maybe it was Duchovny’s camp who leaked the ‘net addiction stories in order to make it seem like less of an offense. If your husband was cheating for years would you give him another chance if he sought treatment for it? When there are kids involved, it gets much more complicated I guess. Seems pretty cut and dried to me though.

Was David Duchovny addicted to Internet pr0n - is it cheating?

Fox News’ Roger Friedman has a pretty good track record with exclusive stories, and he’s reporting that David Duchovny wasn’t technically cheating on Téa Leoni, his wife of 11 years. Many people speculated that there must have been some infidelity involved since Duchovny is in rehab for a sex addiction. According to a source quoted by Friedman, Duchovny was addicted to online porn, and was spending a lot of time in sexy cyber fantasy land. Duchovny made the decision to announce the situation because someone in rehab was able to tell the press that Duchovny was getting treatment there. Friedman also reports that the couple does plan to move to Manhattan once Duchovny is out of sex rehab:

“X Files” star David Duchovny’s announcement that was he was in rehab for sex addiction sparked a lot of rumors. One of them was that he’d been caught having an affair with his tennis instructor (a woman) and that he was undergoing rehab to save his marriage.

Alas, it isn’t so, says a close friend. Duchovny did not check in because of an extramarital fling. That much the friend is certain of. Even more so: Duchovny’s problem has been longstanding. His wife, Tea Leoni, was aware of it for some time. It had just reached a point where it had to be treated.

I have inferred from my conversation with Duchovny’s friend that this has something to do with an addiction to pornography, probably on the internet. It’s the sex equivalent of a gambling addiction, where the person is just hopelessly trapped in chat rooms…

By the way, I’m told that David issued that press statement about his rehab because the tabloids were about to issue their own story. What happened: A fellow patient “dropped a dime” on David to make some extra coin. Nice confidentiality!

Duchovny is not having the greatest summer. His “X Files: I Want to Believe” has been a bust, with just $20 million in the till after a month in release. Waiting ten years for a sequel has proved to be a mistake. The audience simply moved on.

When Duchovny is done with the rehab, I’m also told that he and Tea and their kids will complete their move to Manhattan’s Upper East Side from Hollywood. They will be very welcome here, as Tea is much in demand work-wise. Duchovny will have more “Californication” and plenty of offers. New York doesn’t solve all your problems, but it’s a much more realistic place to live than Los Angeles.

[From Fox News via Huffington Post]

People Magazine reports that Téa Leoni has canceled her appearance at the Toronto Film Festival, which starts Thursday, where she was due to promote her film Ghost Town.

If all this is true, and Duchovny was just addicted to Internet porn, it seems like something that’s a personal matter and that he’s dealing with it and shouldn’t have received as much flack as he did.

Is it cheating to get off with someone other than your spouse online? Where do you draw the line? Looking at porn, like movies or photos, is pretty common and seems harmless, but what if your spouse was text-chatting and having cyber sex with someone else? Is it cheating if there’s voice chat or a webcam involved? There are so many ways to connect with people now, and I’ve heard a lot of stories of people leaving their spouses for someone they’ve met online. It’s just a fantasy, though, and when cheating husbands and wives take it to the next level and shack up with the person they met online (or at work) they often find out that once reality sets in they’re no better off with their new partner than they were with their last. At least Duchovny didn’t go that far, if this report is to be believed.

David Duchovny in rehab - for sex addiction

David Duchovny, 48 but looking 10 years younger and acting 20 years younger, has entered rehab for sex addiction. The X-Files actor has been the rumored subject of several blind items this summer, and has apparently been cheating on his wife of 11 years, Tea Leoni. The couple has two children, Madelaine, 9, and Kyd, 6.

David Duchovny has entered a rehabilitation center for sex addiction, his lawyer, Stanton “Larry” Stein, tells PEOPLE exclusively.

“I have voluntarily entered a facility for the treatment of sex addiction,” the actor says in an exclusive statement. “I ask for respect and privacy for my wife and children as we deal with this situation as a family.”

[From People.com]

Is sex rehab what some couples do instead of breaking up or going to counseling? There are a lot of examples of people being addicted to sex to the degree that it interferes with their ability to function, and particularly with their long term relationships. On one side I hope he gets help and is able to work out whatever issues he has with Leoni. On the other I want to tell Tea to kick his cheating ass out and take half his assets.

Here are two blind items that came out recently that may point to Duchovny:

Which married TV star whose big summer movie just bombed is sleeping with his tennis instructor on the side? His wife has no idea her hubby is scoring on and off the court.

[Star Magazine, print edition, August 18, 2008 via Jezebel]

Which star of an upcoming blockbuster flick is a huge cad despite his image as a family man? Word is the actor is getting a little too touchy-feely with the ladies.

[NY Daily News, May 14, 2008]

Duchovny also gave an interview to Best Life, published in May, 2008 in which he briefly talked about infidelity and about his past inability to stay in a committed relationship:

“Men are so scared and ashamed of the feelings they have sometimes,” says Duchovny. “The worst thing a man can admit is ‘I’m not 100 percent fulfilled by my family.’ But it doesn’t mean he doesn’t love his family. I love my family, but I still want to work, I still want challenges. It took me a while to fall in love with the responsibility of family life, and it was a deep thing when I did. But I also want to run back to the cave sometimes. Forever…

“Twelve years ago, I would have been hard-pressed to understand why I’d want to be involved sexually with one person this long,” he says, cracking off a piece of carob-pecan cookie. “Before Téa, the longest my intense sexual interest would last would be maybe two years. But the thing men don’t realize is, that initial rush you get from sex gives way to something else. A lot of guys run with fear when that intensity starts to fade, but the real rewards of a relationship come after you’ve been together a while. That’s where Téa and I are lucky. It keeps getting deeper. It’s kind of exciting. I’m as surprised as anybody.”

A sudden hush seems to fall over the restaurant, as if everyone is straining to hear the follow-up to this sex talk. I quietly ask him the famous Jimmy Carter question about whether he lusts in his heart for other women. “I’m not running for president, so I don’t have to answer that question, but there’s nothing wrong with acknowledging the panoply of life’s rich experience,” he says. “And if my wife were sitting here, she’d say the same thing. The only thing that matters is your word and whether you live up to it or not. You can’t control your mind. Why would you want to? You can’t feel guilty about being alive, about being a man, about feeling attracted. You can only control your actions.”

Duchovny sits in silence. He never knows when he’s said too much. There was the time he confessed to a reporter about his fascination with hotel porn (”I like to watch other people f–k” was the exact quote) and rumors swirled that he was a sex addict. He’s not. Then he said something about “400 inches of rain a day” in Vancouver, where The X-Files was shooting at the time, and half of Canada wanted him deported.

[From BestLifeOnline via orlybb on ONTD]

Duchovny also said in that same interview that Tea was planning a move for the family from LA to NY in September of this year. I wonder if that’s still happening now that her husband is in rehab right around the time they were supposed to move.

The second season of Duchovny’s Showtime series, ironically titled Californication, premieres on September 26.
