The Yellow Wiggle is opening an Elvis Museum

Many people have confessed to being Elvis fans, but who would have thought that the yellow Wiggle would be one of the biggest collectors of memorabilia, owning enough to open his own Elvis museum?

Greg Page, the original Yellow Wiggle who left the group in 2006 due to illness, has a huge collection of over 200 items of the King’s goods, including Priscilla and Elvis’ marriage certificate.

“It’s been my dream to set up an Elvis museum somewhere so that people can experience what I experienced when I went to Gracelands for the first time,” Page told SiT.

When Anthony Field, the blue Wiggle, took the group through Elvis’s home a decade ago, Page was struck by the King’s rise from dirt-poor upbringing to global fame. “That opened my eyes to the story of Elvis,” he said. “It was so much more than just the movies and the singles and the performances. There was a man behind the legend.”

Page started the collection with a cheque that Elvis wrote for a bodyguard for a 1975 tour. He also has an ever-stylish gold lame jumpsuit, original blueprints for Gracelands, Elvis’s last karate certificate, some of his favourite jewellery and clothing he wore in the movies Jailhouse Rock, Kissin’ Cousins and King Creole.

Sydney Morning Herald

Page also owns a beige suit, and the original contract Elvis signed with Colonel Tom Parker, as well as other items.

The only item he is not giving to the museum is the Cadillac Elvis was photographed driving two days before his death, which I think is this one. He doesn’t drive it for fear of crashing.

He has also recorded his solo album with Elvis’ backing group, the TCB band.

My kids are big fans of the Wiggles, and debates in mother’s group can often turn to fisticuffs over which Wiggle is the cutest. Which is obviously Anthony the blue Wiggle. The Wiggles have a legion of celebrity fans of their own, Robert DeNiro, Jerry Seinfeld, and John Travolta have all been to concerts, so maybe one day a celebrity Wiggles fan will set up their own museum dedicated to Greg and his turtlenecked friends.

Bindi Irwin to tour with The Wiggles, put out exercise video, and TV show!

Eight year-old Bindi Irwin has a busy schedule coming up. She just released a children’s exercise DVD that she made with her dad. She also announced that she’s going to tour with the Wiggles next month. Oh and she has a TV show coming out early next year.

Her mom was said to be worried that Bindi was carrying on so well after her famous father, Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin, died and took her to a therapist. The therapist said that was dealing with the grief in her own way and that she was well adjusted.

Here’s the promo for Bindi’s kid’s exercise DVD with moves inspired by animals. My son loves dancing and would probably jump around to it for a while.

It was announced this weekend that Bindi is going to take to the stage with The Wiggles in their upcoming tour next month. She will appear with them in LA and New York:

The eight-year-old daughter of the late Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin, announced on US television overnight that she would perform the concerts in Los Angeles and New York.

The young wildlife warrior promised her high-energy show, called Bindi and The Crocmen, would have Americans on their feet.

The Crocmen are three men who will perform alongside her.

“We’re doing some dances which will be really fun because all the people get to get up and dance along with us,” Bindi told US morning TV show, Good Morning America, today. The concerts are part of the annual G’Day USA: Australia Week 2007 festivities being staged in Los Angeles and New York in January to promote Australia to Americans.

Bindi’s father had been a great supporter of the festival in past years.

With Bindi performing on the same bill as The Wiggles, the tickets, on sale for up to $US65, will be hot property.

Incorporated into Bindi’s act will be an animal show in which she will be joined on stage by her mum Terri and her dad’s “best mate” and Australia Zoo Director Wes Mannion.

Yellow Wiggle Greg is ill with orthostatic intolerance from an unknown disorder, which makes him light-headed and dizzy. He has bowed out of the famous Australian kids’ group, and is being replaced by his understudy.

Bindi also incredibly has a TV show coming out, Bindi the Jungle Girl, that will air in the states early in 2007.

I guess if eight year-old Bindi wants to do all this, more power to her. It just kind of screams cheesy to me for Bindi to put out an exercise video, to tour with the Wiggles, and to star in a TV show. Shouldn’t her mom be trying to balance her performance schedule so it’s not so hard on the elementary student? From what I understand she taped most of this when her dad was alive, but it still seems like too much for a little girl.

The yellow Wiggle Greg may quit the band!

In case you’re not familiar with the Wiggles, they’re four singing Australian guys who have a massively popular children’s television show. Celebrities Gwyneth Paltrow, Britney Spears, and Travis Barker have mentioned that their children love the Wiggles.

The yellow Wiggle, Greg, who sings and drives the Big Red Car, has been suffering a mystery illness for months. He’s been having fainting spells and doctors have yet to figure out what’s wrong with him.

The Wiggles Racing to the Rainbow Show is due to start in Perth tomorrow, and they’ve released a statement saying they’re going to make an announcement soon. it is expected that Wiggle Greg will not be touring due to his sickness:

A press release, issued this morning, states: “The Wiggles are set to make a major announcement relating to members of the group before they begin their national … tour in Perth tomorrow.”

After months of battling a mystery illness, Page is expected to announce that he will quit the group.

During the group’s recent US tour, Page was replaced by his understudy Sam Moran in July because of the illness.

Page has been under a cloud in recent months, after contracting the illness, which has included regular fainting spells.

The Wiggles publicist, Dianna O’Neill, would not discuss what the press conference was about, but did confirm Page’s illness.

“We don’t know what’s wrong with him – he’s had a lot of fainting spells, he’s had a lot of tests done to work it out. I spoke to him this morning and he said ‘Yes, I’m tired, but the doctors haven’t put a name to it yet, they just don’t know,’ ” she said.

She denied the illness was a nervous breakdown.

“It’s definitely not … it’s frustrating for him and everybody. We just want him to get better.”

There is no announcement yet on the official Wiggle website.

My son loves the Wiggles, and this is sad news. Best wishes to Greg for a complete and full recovery. The band won’t be the same without him.
