In Touch has an exclusive story that Tobey Maguire and Jennifer Meyer are expecting their second child. Maguire and Meyer have 17 month-old daughter, Ruby, and they tied the knot in a ceremony in Hawaii in September of last year.

This article isn’t well sourced, but it could be true considering that it’s about Maguire and Meyer and you don’t hear much gossip about those two. When something does pop up it seems more likely to be accurate since it’s not like they’re in the tabloids every week.

In a world exclusive, In Touch can reveal that Tobey Maguire and his wife, Jennifer Meyer, are expecting their second child later this year — and they’re hoping it’s a boy. Jen is approaching her second trimester and she’s due in early October. “Jen and Tobey are over-the-moon happy,” a friend of the couple reveals. “Since they already have a daughter, they would love a little boy, but of course they would be just as thrilled with another daughter.” The insider says that Jen and Tobey always planned to have another child within two years of the birth of their daughter, Ruby, who is 17 months old. “Jen’s doing great,” her friend reveals. “She had an easy pregnancy last time around, so this time it should also be a breeze.” The couple is in the process of building their dream home for their expanding family on a recently purchased lot in Brentwood that cost nearly $10 million!

In photos of Meyer taken at the beginning of this month she hardly looks pregnant, but if she’s only three months along as In Touch states she might not be showing yet. Still, this is In Touch we’re talking about, so they might just have seen a picture where her shirt is billowing out and decided to run with this pregnancy story.

Update: US Weekly is reporting that Meyer isn’t pregnant, according to a source, but it’s not like an official rep denial or anything and has about the same level of legitimacy as the original report.

Tobey Maguire and Jake Gyllenhaal are co-starring in the drama Brothers together, which is currently filming. There have been several stories about how they’re not exactly fighting, but not exactly getting along on set either. These two are said to be competing for resources in an alpha-dog type situation while they work together.

Star Magazine had them fighting over their makeup artists last month, with each holding out for their own person, and producers trying to cut costs by getting them to share, but they weren’t having it.

“[Tobey and Jake] each want their own retoucher, but the producers don’t think it’s necessary and don’t see why they can’t share,” a source tells Star. “Tobey is holding out for his own person, while Jake said he needs his artist so badly he’ll let her stay with him during the shoot.”

And this week’s edition has some more insider news from on set. Tobey and Jake are said to be making everyone they work with uncomfortable with their competition, but at least cast and crew are benefiting from it. They each gave expensive gifts to cast members and sound like they were trying to outdo each other. It doesn’t sound like there’s much harm in that:

“[Tobey and Jake] are competing over who gets along better with castmates and crew!” an insider tells Star. The actors are also showering them with gifts! While Tobey gave crewmembers new 8GB iPod Nanos, Jake gave out gift certificates to tony Koi restaurant! Adds the source, “It’s getting uncomfortable.”

They’re undoubtedly spinning it to make it out to be much worse than it is, but something must be going on to prompt Maguire to give out expensive gifts like that. He’s notoriously tight-fisted and careful with his money, having come from humble beginnings. Maybe his wife Jennifer Meyer is influencing him to change his ways.

You can imagine Maguire and Gyllenhaal quietly trying to outdo each other, each acting overly gracious while trying to be more professional than the other. That would make a great comedy - two actors treating each other with quiet disdain with one changing his normally grumpy and self-important personality with great effort, the other naturally nice but just a bit goofy. Did I just violate the writer’s strike by coming up with that concept?

Tobey and Jake ran into each other accidentally in Brentwood this weekend when they were both out. Jake was seen smiling and chatting with Tobey, his wife, and Tobey’s father in law, the head of Universal studios. The story is that Jake saw Tobey with his family outside and pulled his car over for a chat. Does this encounter reveal that their competition on who can act the friendliest extends even to each other? Were they straining themselves trying to act nice or does this show that there’s no bad blood between them?

Tobey Maguire married his longtime fugalicious fiancee Jennifer Meyer over the weekend. She’s actually not that fug, even though people are always saying that – she’s just “real woman” pretty. Which means not perfect, so points to Tobey for keeping it real. Or whatever. The two have been dating since 2003 and have a nine month old daughter, Ruby. They were married in Hawaii in an intimate ceremony in Kona.

“Tobey Maguire and Jennifer Meyer, who are parents to a 9-month-old daughter, have gotten married in Hawaii, PEOPLE has confirmed. Maguire, 32, and Meyer, 30, exchanged vows Monday in a sunset ceremony in Kona in front of a small group of family and friends, including Leonardo DiCaprio. The couple, who met in early 2003 and welcomed daughter Ruby in November, have kept their longterm romance fairly low profile.

“‘They are similar because they are very guarded around people they don’t know,’ a friend of Meyer, the daughter of Vivendi Universal Entertainment CEO Ron Meyer, told PEOPLE in 2003. Earlier this year, the Spider-Man star told reporters that he ‘loves being a dad.’ And his costar Bryce Dallas Howard praised both Maguire and Meyer for their parenting skills. ‘[Jennifer Meyer] is just an incredibly mindful parent. I mean, they both are,’ said Howard.

“Maguire, who has admitted to having a rocky childhood, has said that settling down and finding stability are important to him. ‘Growing up the way I did, I had a very serious ambition to make some money, to have some security and comfort in my life,’ the star told Parade in April. And becoming a father has led him to think about putting down roots outside of Hollywood, he said. ‘I’m at that stage where I have to start thinking about where I want Ruby to grow up and go to school…Even though L.A. is pretty laid-back, maybe it would be a good idea to try a different, less ambitious kind of atmosphere.’”

Tobey’s one of those guys that just seems like he’d be a good dad. I know almost nothing about him, but he just has that look to him – something about the “I’m a good guy” expression. (We won’t count the smacking a camera out of a fan’s hand incident against him – I do it to my fans all the time). Celebitchy reported that Tobey is “notoriously tight-fisted” but that might be a good thing for his kids – perhaps they won’t fall into the traps a lot of celebuspawn find themselves in.

I was intrigued by the comments Tobey has made about his tough childhood, but couldn’t really find many specifics. Here’s a vague outline from Wikipedia.

“Maguire was born in Santa Monica, California. His father, Vincent Maguire, was a construction worker and a cook. His mother, Wendy Brown, is a secretary turned screenwriter and producer. His parents were 18 and 20 years old, and unmarried, at the time of his birth; the two married and subsequently divorced when Maguire was two. Maguire spent much of his childhood moving from town to town, living with each parent and other family members. During his childhood, Maguire entertained the idea of becoming a chef and to that end wanted to enroll in a Home Economics class as a sixth grader. His mother offered him $100 USD to take a drama class instead, and Tobey agreed.

“The nomadic nature of his school-age years began to take a toll on Maguire emotionally, and finally, after yet another relocation to yet another school, Maguire dropped out of his freshman year of high school and never returned, deciding to focus himself on his blossoming acting career. It sounds like he’s someone who’s worked hard for what he has, and isn’t going to let that slip away from him. There’s definitely been several stories about him being cheap and controlling, but it seems like his history explains that. How many people become famous and then throw all their money away on cars and drugs? It makes sense that security would be important to him, and I’m guessing that getting married was a big part of that. Congrats to the newlyweds, may they have many years of carefully timed babies and meticulously planned budgets in their future.

Leonardo DiCaprio’s celebrity friends and supporters were out at the premiere of his environmental film The 11th Hour in Hollywood yesterday. The documentary urges us to make a difference in the state of our planet now, in the 11th hour, as it’s almost too late. With existing technology and a concerted effort the film asserts that we can ensure that our planet remains sustainable. It’s not about saving the environment so much as ensuring the continued survival of the human race.

In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, DiCaprio explains that it takes him just 15 minutes to get ready for a premiere. He says the film explores how we can make a difference in our world and that by interviewing experts he thinks that 11th Hour explains it in a way that is unique while focusing on change:

“How long does it take me? Usually 15 minutes, something like that,” Leo says about getting red-carpet ready. “And then it’s about putting the suit on. I don’t have a stylist — usually it’s my assistant who tells me to put this on and I go, ‘Okay.’

But before Leo walks out the door, there’s one crucial tool he can’t forget: “What do I not leave the house without? My cell phone!”

As for the new movie, the award-winning environmentalist star gives ET the lowdown…

“It’s not just global warming, it’s not just a loss of biodiversity, it’s not just the pollution of our oceans and the clearing of our rainforests and all these complicated systems,” Leo tells ET. “[The movie] talks about the world economy, it talks about politics, it talks about personal transformation and environmental consciousness that we need to have in this generation to implement a lot of these changes that need to occur.”

The movie, which features Leo as narrator, explores what it will take for humans to make a difference ecologically before it’s too late. Top scientists like STEPHEN HAWKING and leaders like former Soviet Union President MIKHAIL GORBACHEV are interviewed for the documentary.

“It’s a very, very daunting issue and it was a lot to, as filmmakers, wrap our head around,” says Leo, “but thankfully we got some of the most important people in the forefront of a lot of these issues to really explain it in a way that I don’t think has been done before, and that’s what I’m proud of.”

A new book is coming out that details a Globe journalist’s unscrupulous attempt to get Tobey Maguire’s mom to out him while commenting on his close relationship with fellow star Leonardo DiCaprio. Page Six notes that Tobey’s mom said they were close friends who shared a bed, hung out with gay guys and sometimes wore ribbons in their hair, but that it didn’t mean anything:

In “Tabloid Prodigy,” out this month from Running Press, Kast writes how she tracked down Maguire’s mother, Wendy, a secretary, and “told her that I was working on an article for a gay pride magazine about sexual expression among Hollywood stars. I asked her if she’d be willing to share any thoughts about her son’s close bond with Leonardo.”

Wendy Maguire responded to Kast, “I figured this subject would come up sooner or later . . . Those two are just free-spirited guys. Most of the friends they hang around with are gay. They’re comfortable with that. But I think Leo and Tobey are the crossover between men and women. They have feminine traits they are willing to accept. They aren’t ashamed to have any sort of title, even if that means someone calling them gay.”

Kast continues, “Wendy continued to recount her liberal views, divulging details of how the two friends ’shared a bed and wore ribbons in their hair.’ ” While Kast wasn’t about to claim the stars were gay, “Wendy had provided exactly what the editors wanted - insinuations.”

Tobey’s rep said the story was ridiculous while Leo’s rep said it was “made up” and “untrue.” When I heard this story I was reminded of an old picture of a naked Tobey hanging out with David Blaine and Leonardo DiCaprio in what looks like some kind of tea house or asian-themed spa. It could be Photoshopped, but if it’s not Tobey is well endowed. I doubt these guys were anything more than friends though. They are both in serious relationships now, with Tobey having a new baby at home and Leo rumored to soon be marrying his model girlfriend.

Tobey and Leo are still close friends. They were out to dinner last night along with Lucas Haas, but they left separately and refused to be photographed together.

Tobey Maguire was videotaped smacking a camera out of a fan’s hand recently. Commentors noted that it looked like the guy touched him and he was responding to that. Tobey later posed happily for a picture with that same fan to let him know there were no hard feelings.

Tobey has spoken about how he tries to save money, saying he uses his frequent flier miles to fly first class instead of buying a ticket outright. He is also said to enjoy shopping at Payless for shoes. He’s not doing it just to be frugal, though, he is a devout vegetarian and has given up all clothing that contains leather and animal products. New mom and jewelry designer to the stars Jennifer Meyer looks damn good for just having a baby in November. Tobey has a little of that sympathy pregnancy weight going on, which UrbanDK could elaborate on if he wasn’t on vacation this week, but Tobey can lose weight quickly and I’m sure he’ll be back in shape if his next role calls for it. He’s not tubby or anything.

Their baby Ruby is really cute and you can see the resemblance to Tobey in her features. That guy crouching nearby looks creepy, but the photo agency who took the pictures, Flynet, says they were there with “some close friends and relatives,” so hopefully they know the guy.

Spiderman 3 is due for release on May 4, 2007. McGuire reprises his lead role as Peter Parker opposite Kirsten Dunst as Mary Jane Watson.

“Let’s just say this is truly the best time of my life,” Meyer, 29, told USA Today recently. “I’m walking on air. I’m getting married, starting a family and have an amazing company.” (Jennifer Meyer Jewelry fans include Jennifer Aniston, Kate Hudson, Lindsay Lohan and Nicole Kidman.)

Congratulations to them and we can’t wait to see their little newborn. Speaking of babies - where is Maggie Gyllenhaal’s baby? Someone should shell out the cash to publish the pictures soon.

Nicole Kidman is said to have two noticeable bruises on her left leg. They could have been sustained from a bad fall while exercising, or maybe Keith is just banging her too hard:

Star Magazine is reporting that Tobey Maguire’s fiance and girlfriend of three years, Jennifer Meyer, daughter of Universal head Ron Meyer, is pregnant:

We reported six weeks ago that Maguire and Meyer were recently engaged, as reported by Page Six. They were said to have visited an ObGyn together at the end of March, so Meyer is probably further along than this article suggests.

Page Six reported a month ago that Tobey MacGuire,30, and his girlfriend of two years, Jennifer Meyer, 28, visited an Ob-Gyn together. Now they’re saying that MacGuire and Meyer are engaged:

While there’s no date for the wedding yet, the rumor is that Leonardo DiCaprio will be the best man.

Tobey is now working on Spiderman Three.
