Meanwhile, Jessica’s “A Public Affair” album flopped, her movie career tanked, and she made a country album as a last resort. She’s even dating Carrie’s leftovers in the form of Dallas Cowboy Tony Romo. So when Jessica was photographed wearing a T-shirt that read “Real Girls Eat Meat”– it was perceived as an obvious dig at Underwood, who was just voted GoVeg.com’s “Sexiest Vegetarian.”

For a gal who’s best known for her less-than-stellar brains (Chicken of the Sea, anyone?) and her ability to proportionately fill out daisy dukes, I’m gonna go on record saying that if anyone had to wear a ridiculous shirt like this, I’m glad it was Jessica—as people are more likely to follow the opposite of her lead … ya know, since she’s so well respected and all (yes, that was difficult to type without tossing in a hefty LOL). In Touch says that the rift between the two blond singers goes a little deeper. Apparently, Tony Romo was still e-mailing and texting Carrie even after he started seeing Jessica- and Simpson is still pissed about it.

“Jessica is worried that Tony still has feelings for Carrie,” an insider says. “She doesn’t want them talking.”

It also doesn’t help that the American Idol winner is her rival in the music business. “Carrie has the career that Jessica wants,” her pal explains.

But from the way things looked at the CMA Music Festival, Carrie, 25, is not a big fan of Jessica’s either. During the festival, which took place June 5-8, the two women seemed to avoid each other - even though event organizers were intent on getting them together. “They wanted Jess to introduce Carrie, or have them attend a charity event together, or maybe even do a duet to put the rumors to rest about the feud,” a CMA insider explains. “But everything that was thrown out there was rebuffed.”

I think it comes down to this: Jessica Simpson is a desperate fame whore who will do anything to stay relevant, even abandon her pop career and try country if she thinks people will pay attention to her. An artist like Carrie, who has been performing country music her entire life, even when appearing on the very mainstream pop ‘Idol,’ probably sees Jessica’s foray into country as an insult. As for the Tony Romo thing, any problems Jessica has in that relationship, she can thank her dad for- not Carrie Underwood. And finally, it always seems like Jessica is feuding with another girl who has the career she wants- remember how she ragged on Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera? Instead of taking digs at girls who have a better career, maybe Jessica should focus on her own sorry ass.

US Magazine has a new interview with Jessica Simpson’s dad, Joe, in which he indirectly responds to accusations that he’s mainly responsible for his daughter Jessica’s brief split with her boyfriend, quarterback Tony Romo. His answers are telling in that he seems to bemoan the fact that he doesn’t control his daughters’ Jessica and Ashlee as much as the media claims. He also uses the curious phrase “love to death” when describing both of his daughter’s mates. He doesn’t just accept and admire his daughters’ partners, he loves them both so much he could kill them:

“The media says that I try to plan everything - If I had half of the power they give me…They [Ashlee and Jessica] don’t call me and ask me. They call me and tell me.”

He adds that Jessica “… is as happy as I’ve seen her in years.” and gushes about the Dallas Cowboys quarterback, “He’s a great guy. I love Tony to death….He’s just a good kid….”

Us reports in the current issue that Joe asked Romo, 28, to let him help represent him. As tension grew, the Dallas Cowboys quarterback gave Jessica an ultimatum: Tell dad to back off!

Joe tells Extra that the public has many misconceptions about him as his daughters’ manager. “For all those people thinking I’m sipping Piña Coladas on the beach and enjoying millions of dollars and having this great life – Bull..I work seven days a week, 24/7.”

Simpson, who officiated daughter Ashlee’s wedding to Pete Wentz, says, “I love Pete to death…He has a patient spirit and a kind heart…I’m honored to have Pete as my son-in-law.”

Pete seems pretty chill and like he can handle his father in law’s strong arm ways, while Tony wasn’t about to let Jessica’s dad take over his career or tell him what to do. US Weekly reports in the print edition this week that Joe called Tony many times after he broke up with her ahead of Ashlee’s wedding, and that he begged him to take his daughter back. Although Tony did got out to lunch with Jessica the Friday before the wedding, he is said to have let Joe know that his meddling would in no way be tolerated. He also brought a friend with him to Ashlee’s wedding, according to an insider quoted in the June 2 edition of Star. It was a “college pal named Nick” who acted “as a buffer.”

Tony and Jessica have since been spotted together several times, and seem to have reconciled. If Joe wants Jess to have a chance in this relationship he better back off. Given how defensive Joe sounds in these latest quotes he’s not about to stop interfering and it’s up to Tony and Jessica how they’re going to handle it. Maybe they could just refuse to take his calls for a while.

Jessica may about to make another major mistake in her relationship without her father’s help, though. OK! Magazine reports that she wants Tony to appear in the video for her country single Move On Over, and that he thinks it would be a good idea. All I can picture now is Affleck rubbing J.Lo’s ass.

Jessica Simpson and Tony Romo have tentatively reunited, with unconfirmed reports that Jessica’s father’s meddling ways drove her multi-millionaire quarterback beau away. US Weekly claims to have more details behind the cause of the split in their upcoming issue. Their story claims that not only did Jessica’s dad Joe ask Tony to turn his entire career over to him, telling him to fire his agent and let him run the show, he also advised Tony that a proposal and eventual marriage to Jessica could be brokered for maximum payment from the tabloids. Of course Romo put Simpson and her whole wacky family at arm’s length, but his love for the buxom country singer won out and they’re now giving it another try. He’s not taking shit from Jessica’s dad though, and told him to back off or he’s out of there for good.

In its new issue, Us Weekly reports that Jessica Simpson’s controlling father Joe has brought her relationship with Tony Romo to the brink and was the main source behind their split in May.

A source tells Us Joe asked Romo, 28, to drop his agent so he could take over his NFL career and $67.5 million contract.

He even offered to broker a deal to sell his engagement and wedding to a magazine should Romo and Jessica, 27, get engaged. “‘If you guys have a marriage, I can do the same [sell it] that I did with Ashlee,’” a source quotes Joe as saying.

If Joe continues his meddling ways come August, expect a firestorm of controversy from the nationwide network of AM radio sports-talk, perhaps the only “journalists” bitchier than celebrity gossip columnists. Jessica Simpson has a new country single out, and while I’m not an expert in the genre it sounds ok. It’s kind of decent and is a little better than that bland forgettable shit she last put out as a pop singer. She doesn’t have anything on Carrie Underwood, but she can definitely sing and crank out these country pop songs.

Jessica and Tony Romo are back together after their much-talked about but unconfirmed split. The two were seen dining out in Dallas over Memorial Day weekend. A lot of people wondered if Tony attended Jessica’s sister Ashlee’s wedding in order to help Jessica save face, but it sounds like he was also willing to reconcile with her. The supposed insider scoop from The Chicago Sun Times has Tony in a standoff with the needy singer over her meddling dad:

”He did agree to go to [sister Ashlee's] wedding — keeping his promise to Jessica,” Romo’s Eastern Illinois alum chum told me. ”But he made it super-clear that if they were to give it another go, her dad had to seriously back off.”

My source says Romo has told Jessica their renewed relationship is ”a trial thing,” dependent on Daddy Joe ”leaving them alone” and stifling his tendency to tell Romo how to run his life, career and endorsement deals.

Maybe Tony’s ultimatum will help Jessica break away from her father. In an appearance on “The View” way back in September, 2006, Jessica joked about her manager dad saying “My dad just tries to control me and my sister… that was the wrong choice of words. Just when you were hoping that the only reason Tony Romo showed up at Ashlee Simpson’s wedding was due to extensive cajoling or a hefting bribe from Joe Simpson, it looks like he’s willing to hang out with Jessica when there’s not a lot of cash and public interest at stake. The Dallas Cowboys quarterback was spotted having dinner with his maybe-estranged girlfriend, Jessica Simpson, on Saturday.

After watching Papa Joe Simpson marry little sister Ashlee to bassist Pete Wentz, Tony headed back to Texas for the Colonial golf tourney while Jessica went to Cabo San Lucas with her parents.

But abstinence makes the heart grow fonder.

Saturday night, Tony and Jessica shared a corner booth for two at N9NE Steakhouse in downtown Dallas’ Victory Park. The couple said hello to Cowboys receiver-kick returner Isaiah Stanback, who was dining at N9NE with his parents.

Good for them I guess. Jessica starred in a television show about her doomed marriage, she called Romo her “future husband” in a recent interview, and she admits that she loves seeing pictures of herself in the tabloids. It’s not like she’s going to wise up enough to realize that she needs to keep her relationship under wraps if she wants to preserve it. Maybe her dad is the one who leaked the news of their dinner to the Dallas Morning News. It would be very much in character for him to make sure it’s known that her daughter isn’t the sad sap the press is making her out to be.

As for the story reported by the National Enquirer that Jessica cheated on Tony with Jared Leto and Zach Braff, Leto’s rep has said that “There is no truth whatsoever to the article.” The National Enquirer is not Star, and I bet they had at least one source. That doesn’t mean that I think it’s true, just that I wouldn’t put it past her.

When Tony Romo went to lunch at a paparazzi hot spot with Jessica Simpson on the Friday before her sister’s wedding, I assumed he was trying to help her save face after the news broke that he dumped her. Then when Romo went to Jessica’s sister Ashlee’s wedding as Jessica’s date, again it seemed like he felt sorry for Jessica and wanted to soften the blow of the breakup. Maybe they have an on-off thing, but the insider reports of their breakup were reported in the Chicago Sun Times and seemed true.

So why would Tony make a public reconciliation with Jessica Simpson before her sister’s wedding other than feeling sorry for her? Maybe because if he stayed away from the wedding, it would have cost Jessica’s family $1.4 million. TMZ reports that People Magazine’s contract with Joe Simpson for exclusive rights to Ashlee Simpson’s wedding photos included the stipulation that Tony Romo had to be at the wedding with Ashlee’s older sister Jessica:

Our moles tell us, when People cut a $1.4 deal for Ashlee’s wedding pics, there was a g-string attached — that Jessica Simpson and Tony Romo would be there.

It’s kinda what we were thinking. Who’d pay that for Ashlee Simpson alone. That’s why People wanted to put a pic of Jessica and Tony as an inset on the cover — they sell, Ashlee doesn’t.

Maybe that explains why People claimed ahead of the wedding to have a “source” that Tony Romo would attend. There must have been a lot of pressure on that guy to show up, and he swallowed his pride and did a nice thing for Jessica’s family. Tony Romo had a bunch of reasons to dump Jessica Simpson: her dad was supposedly interfering in his football career, his career was rumored to be suffering from all the media attention, and she gave way too much information about their relationship in a recent interview with Glamour magazine, calling him her “future husband.” Tony and Jessica seem to have reunited for now, though, because he accompanied her to her sister’s wedding over the weekend.

But the main reason Tony should have dumped Jessica is because she’s said to have been cheating on him behind his back with two different guys. The National Enquirer has a new exclusive claiming that she’s been with both mock-worthy emo rocker Jared Leto, and actor Zach Braff since getting together with Tony.

Jessica Simpson is rumored to have cheated on her ex-husband, Nick Lachey, with several guys including Maroon 5’s Adam Levine, her Dukes of Hazzard co-star Johnny Knoxville, and his friend, Bam Margera. So if this is true it’s not out of character for her. It’s possible her relationship with Tony has had it’s share of splits that have been kept from the public and that if she did hook up with these guys it was at a time when she was estranged from the quarterback.

People Magazine has posted the cover of their upcoming issue with the super expensive photos of Pete Wentz and Ashlee Simpson’s “Fantasy Wedding!” and it’s not the interesting. Ashlee and Pete have their fringed-banged heads together and are smiling like any pose you would see of the two of them on the red carpet. Ashlee wears a simple white veil and pearl drop earrings and Pete has on a tux with a white bow tie and a black rose corsage.

The best part of the photo isn’t newlyweds Ashlee and Pete, but the embarrassed-looking bulldog wearing a flouncy neck piece adorned with black beads. Jessica Simpson and her maybe ex-boyfriend, Tony Romo, are shown in an inset photo dancing at the reception, with Jessica pulling a wide-mouthed face while Tony laughs.

People reports that the reception was “the ultimate rocker event” and included 10,000 “black magic” roses, chandeliers and red and black decorations.

Ashlee wore “an ivory lace Monique Lhuillier gown and a cathedral-length veil” and People notes that the “nondenominational ceremony [was] officiated by her father, Joe Simpson.”

The event was attended by 150 guests, but you get to see it in People for the price of the magazine. It’s doubtful this issue will sell well enough to justify the reported $1 million that the photos were said to have cost. There’s not a lot of interest in these two, but we’re sure to see more of them as Ashlee’s pregnancy starts to show and they sell the inevitable first baby photos for an even steeper price.

Though People published an article questioning whether Tony Romo had really dumped Jessica Simpson – after all he did go to Ashlee’s wedding and was supposedly very sweet to Jessica all night – US Weekly is gloating that Jess had to go on vacation all alone with her parents yesterday. And it really does seem like they’re gloating; they’re enjoying her supposedly sorry state way too much.

Tony Romo may have joined Jessica Simpson for pregnant sister Ashlee’s Saturday wedding — but he skipped out on a family vacation with her the next day. On Sunday, Jessica and her parents Joe and Tina hopped a private jet for some R&R in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, amidst reports that she and Romo had split.

Us ends most of their articles with some plea to buy their print edition, and I don’t normally leave that in the excerpt. But the phrasing was so funny and really proves my point. They’re really enjoying framing Jessica in the most pathetic and desperate light possible. And it may be totally true – really we’re not there, we don’t know – but they sure have fun with their adjectives.

People, in contrast, brags about Jessica and Tony’s PDA at Ashlee’s wedding. Something tells me the truth probably lays somewhere between Jessica being totally pathetic and Tony Romo shoving his tongue down her throat. Probably.

What’s going on with Jessica Simpson and Tony Romo? While rumors of a split continue to swirl, the two attended Ashlee Simpson’s private weekend nuptials – looking anything but broken up. “They were very cozy and cute together,” [at Ashlee's rehearsal dinner ]said a source close to the couple, slamming Internet reports that Simpson was devastated to learn that her ex, John Mayer, has taken up with Jennifer Aniston. “She’s definitely not mourning John Mayer! So for the record, Jessica Simpson is either as happy and in love as she’s ever been, or totally pathetically desperate and has little cut-outs of John Mayer’s head littering her home. And she’s either going to spend the rest of her life going on vacation with her parents until the sweet release of death, or she’s a total rock star with a killer love life. Between the two magazines, People is generally the more reputable – though in this case they might be a little hopefully naive.

The more I hear about this story, the sicker it gets. Dadager Joe Simpson just can’t stop meddling with his daughters’ relationships, and now that football star Tony Romo has broken it off with older daughter Jessica, he still can’t mind his own business. With younger daughter Ashlee getting married to emo poster boy Pete Wentz this weekend, Papa Joe is imploring Romo to show up to the wedding. But is it because he has his daughter’s best interest at heart, or is he hoping that if Tony shows, the media might actually give a crap about this stupid wedding?

Tony Romo and Jessica Simpson may be done, but her dad still wants the quarterback to “support the family” at Ashlee’s weekend wedding.

“Joe has called Tony and asked him to come to show support for the wedding,” a source tells Usmagzine.com.

It’s unclear if Romo accepted Joe’s request, but he’s scheduled to fly into L.A. over the weekend.

Romo wasn’t present at a bachelor party Joe threw for Pete and a few of his pals at Mr. Chow’s on Thursday night. E! reports a steady supply of beer and wine was brought to their table. After the celebration, Joe picked up the $1,000 tab!

Oh, sure - like the Simpson family EVER hosts a party for family only. I’m convinced that Jessica, Ashlee and their parents would probably cease to exist of they stopped being photographed and interviewed. Papa Joe has orchestrated both of these “relationships” for his desperate fame whore daughters, and you can bet he will orchestrate their break-ups as well.
