The relationship between Jessica Simpson and football player Tony Romo sure is open to a lot of speculation. It’s constantly being rumored that they’ve broken up, that Romo isn’t that into her (though in fairness, it seems like that’s said about most of Jessica’s boyfriends). And though it seems like nine out of ten Jessica/Tony stories are about how he’s just not that into her, every tenth one is about how amazing things are. So now US is reporting that friends of the pair think they may well be together for the long run, and might get engaged soon.

Jessica Simpson is head over heels in love with Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo – and close pals say an engagement might be around the corner.

“I think they’re going to get married,” Romo’s close friend of three years, Michael Starr, says in the latest issue of Us Weekly, on newsstands now. Starr’s prediction comes on top of Romo’s former fling Sophia Bush telling Us, “I think they could go the distance.

“They’re perfect for each other,” the actress, a mutual friend of Romo and Simpson, added. “They’re both funny and wonderful and kind. I’m rooting for them.”

Even Simpson’s ex, Nick Lachey, has chimed in to add his blessing. “I wish her nothing but happiness,” he told Us. “If she’s found that… good for her.”

Well timed plant, Simpson PR rep. I have to say, considering how many versions of the “Jessica Simpson is so pathetic” story you hear, it’s hard to believe the rare “Jessica’s got it all together!” article. It’s like when Joe Simpson claimed in a Vanity Fair article that Jessica’s IQ was 160. Considering all the other stories we’ve heard, it seems a little doubtful. And considering all the other stories we’ve heard about Simpson’s and Romo’s relationship, the thought of them walking down the aisle together seems highly unlikely. But you never know. Jessica got married so young, and to her first boyfriend. I think the press needs to lay off the notion that she needs to remarry right away, and if she doesn’t she’s sad. She needs to sow some oats.

Jessica Simpson had her lawyer send a screeching cease and desist over to OK! Magazine for the article that we reported on about how she was dumped by quarterback Tony Romo. It’s written in a pseudo intellectually superior and whiny tone and is one of the more amusing threatening legal letters we’ve read. It sounds like the lawyer took lessons on how to sound like an authority from those prison dudes on In Living Color. Remember them? Here are some highlights from the PDF file available on TMZ:

Maybe celebrities need to do this so that magazines stop making shit up about them, but when it involves a story that isn’t a huge deal they’re better off putting up a blog post on myspace or their official website instead of paying some lawyer to send letters like this. It’s cheaper and better PR for a celebrity to personally clear the air, but maybe Simpson wants to scare OK! into not reporting negatively about her in the future.

It isn’t just OK! that’s saying Jessica got dumped by Tony. The National Enquirer is reporting it too, and they add the bombshell that Tony was cheating on Simpson the entire time with his college sweetheart. What’s more is that he supposedly plans to propose to the other woman on Valentine’s Day!

“If you could see Tony’s phone bill from all the calls and text messages he sends Crystal, you’d be stunned,” said an insider close to the quarterback.

He’s going to have a housewarming party on Valentine’s day and plans to propose to her then. Guess it won’t be a surprise after this.

How stupid is Jessica Simpson going to feel if her ex gets engaged to another woman right after she threatened OK! Magazine for reporting that they broke up?

Many a man has tired of Jessica Simpson. Many a woman his tired of Jessica Simpson. In fact, many a houseplant has tired of Jessica Simpson. She just strikes me as someone you could only be around in very small, controlled doses – and five extra minutes of her could easily send a person into deep psychosis. Now imagine that somehow – by the grace of God – you’ve managed to figure out a way to tolerate being around the straight-to-DVD blond. But every time you try to get a little, her creepy-ass dad pops his head in the room. Though to be honest, when I imagine Joe Simpson’s intrusions, it’s more like him sticking his head between the two lovers. Yeah try to get that imagine out of your mind now. Anyway, the relationship is plugging along, so the two of you decide to go away together – an all-important relationship step. And then Jessica’s dad decides to join you. Romantic, huh? Poor Tony Romo. Jessica Simpson must either be really in love with him or one conniving woman. Can you imagine her hunting? That doesn’t seem like an activity that’s really popular these days, even for regular folks. The idea of Jessica Simpson hunting is hysterical. Somehow all I can imagine is Tony Romo, a gun, and a lot of blond hair. I can’t even visualize the rest of Jessica taking part in that. I’m not going to get into the hunting debate, or even the general gun debate. Regardless of how you feel about those issues, does anyone think it’s EVER a good idea to give Jessica Simpson a gun? She’s confused by tuna fish and buffalo wings for heaven’s sakes. Can you imagine the damage she could do with something that has a trigger?

John Mayer really does seem to be a good guy. I’m not sure why he gets so much bad press and has this player reputation. He was a little bit of a jerk the first time they dated, basically saying they were never together and the press was making a big deal out of nothing. But the second time they dated, he seemed decent enough. He’s certainly dated a lot of women, but he’s young and unattached and allowed. I’ve never understood why that makes people think he’s a cad. Anyway, Jessica’s been getting a lot of bad press for the way her boyfriend – Dallas Cowboy’s player Tony Romo – has been playing. Apparently it’s not so good. And apparently that’s directly attributable to him dating Jessica. I didn’t realize a girlfriend could have so much to do with a player’s game. John Mayer has come to Jess’ defense, and told everyone to lay off.

We’re having quite the bizarro week. First, we had to stand up for Jessica Simpson (not an easy thing to do), and now we have to reevaluate our opinion of John Mayer. It would be fair to say the brief John-Jessica union was not the high point in anyone’s career, ours or theirs, but that didn’t stop him from coming to the aid of his ex via a sweet blog post he addresses to Dallas and surrounding areas:

“I have never known anyone to have more pride in their home state and their upbringing in it than Jessica Simpson has in Texas…that girl loves Texas more than you know. It’s one of her most defining traits as a person. So, please don’t try and take that away from her.”

Knowing that bloggers hate him just as much as Cowboys fans hate Jess, John adds, “If I’m out of line in having written it, too bad. I can spare a Wednesday’s worth of bad press if it means sticking up for a good soul.”

Now I really like John Mayer. I don’t think it even matters if you like Jessica Simpson or think she’s good/bad for football. It says a lot about his character that he’d go out of his way to stick up for his ex, and call her a good soul. She may not be the brightest bulb around, but Jessica Simpson at least seems nice enough, and she does talk about Texas all the time, and have a great deal of pride in it. It is sort of sad that a bunch of fans and sports people are so publicly turning on her just for dating a football player. She went to a few of Romo’s games to support him and got a ton of crap for it and has since stayed away. I could see how Simpson could be a bit of a distraction, but not for anything overtly negative on her part, but simply because she’s dating Tony Romo. If that’s anyone’s issue to deal with, it’s his.

ESPN’s Morning Sports talk show First Take reported on Wednesday that because of the controversy surrounding Jessica Simpson and boyfriend star quarterback Tony Romo, Simpson will not attend the Cowboy’s Sunday Playoff Game in person. Fans, columnists and sports radio call-in shows have been critical of the two after Simpson attended a Dallas Cowboys home game that ended in a loss for her QB hunk.

The ESPN morning show played a clip of Dallas head coach Wade Phillips, who dismissed questions about the Romo-Simpson relationship being a distraction for the team. However Newsday columnist, Johnette Howard, points out that before Simpson and Romo began dating, the cowboys were an impressive 13-1. And since the quarterback and former Daisy Duke hooked up, the Cowboys have been a pathetic 1-2.

The panel of columnists and former athletes on First Take was also critical of the Cowboys quarterback, despite the fact that the team has made the playoffs and won their division. The panel criticized Romo for a weekend trip with his famous girlfriend to Mexico, where the couple was snapped by TMZ enjoying themselves at an exclusive resort.

Particularly dismissive of Romo and Simpson was First Take contributor and Dallas sports columnist Skip Bayless, who said Romo’s “life is in shambles.” Bayless described Tony Romo as a hick from rural Wisconsin who is ”way in over his head” dating the pop-singer and reality TV star.

Of course a win Sunday will surely quiet critics, but a poor performance by Romo in Sunday’s game against the New York Giants could mean doom for the new romance.

Nothing says romantic getaway quite like hearing your dad snoring in the next bedroom. Or worse, worrying about your parents hearing you while you’re going at it with your boyfriend. Gross, just gross. But apparently that’s how Jessica Simpson likes it. Or – more likely – how Joe Simpson likes it. Creepy-as-hell Papa Joe and his wife Tina joined Jessica and her boyfriend, Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo, on vacation in Los Cabos, Mexico last week. No that’s not creepy or weird, because Joe and Tina did the same thing when Jessica was married to Nick Lachey. Who could predict that their marriage wouldn’t work out?

Looks like Tony Romo already has an in with Jessica Simpson’s notoriously finicky father, Joe. They all went on vacation together! Simpson and Romo, who have been dating since November, arrived in Mexico via private jet with about seven friends at 9:30 p.m. January 3. After landing at the Cabo San Lucas Mexico airport, Simpson and Romo were spotted, “rubbing each others butts and laughing on the tarmac,” an eyewitness tells Usmagazine.com.

Later, the group — which included a few of Romo’s teammates and families, as well as Simpson’s parents, Joe and Tina — checked into a rented home nearby. “Tony couldn’t stop touching Jessica,” an eyewitness tells Us.

The next day, everyone enjoyed a lunch whipped up by their personal chef on the deck of their home. “They were having a great time, with Jess’ parents laughing and joking with Jess and Tony,” the onlooker added. “Tony was affectionate to Jess and everyone seemed very relaxed.”

How cute. And creepy. What do you want to bet Papa Joe tutored Tony Romo on the best moves to use on his daughter? He probably encouraged all that butt grabbing. No way does anyone in that family do anything without Papa Joe’s approval. Nick Lachey had to submit a written intercourse request with Joe at least two weeks prior to any sexual encounter. It had to include a detailed plan of action and required script approval from Joe. Jokes aside, after this family vacation, what do you want to bet Tony dumps Jessica within the next two weeks?

This week’s Star Magazine has an interesting story about how Jessica Simpson and Tony Romo might be faking their relationship for the sake of an upcoming Super Bowl commercial. Jessica and Tony are said to be in talks with Pizza Hut to star in a big budget Super Bowl commercial together and their whole fauxmance has supposedly been orchestrated by Jessica’s controlling father, Joe, for publicity purposes. It could be true that they’re dating and genuinely like each other, but either way they’re milking it for all it’s worth:

Insiders are whispering that Jessica Simpson’s manager dad, Joe, is the mastermind behind his daughter’s “romance” with Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo – and their sudden, very public relationship may just be the setup for an attention-grabbing Super Bowl commercial!

“It seems that Joe set them up to make sure Jess got good publicity,” an insider tells Star. “She’s got a new country album coming out, but her movie career is stalled, so she’s doing what her dad tells her will be good for her image and to keep her name in the papers…”

[Jessica and Tony Romo are] reportedly in talks to Pizza Hut to do a special commercial that will air during the Super Bowl in February. And the insider tells Star that Joe Simpson even offered Tony, 27, a small role in his daughter’s next movie.

This makes a lot of sense considering that Tony Romo is one of the very few suitors of one of his daughters that Joe Simpson approves of. Joe is even said to have set Jessica up with Tony, and although the papers make it out like Tony called Joe up and asked to date his daughter I bet it was the other way around. It doesn’t seem like much of an incentive for Tony to be offered a role in Simpson’s next movie, though.

Jessica seemed to be a bad luck charm for Tony. The Dallas Cowboys quarterback performed his worse game – ever – when she was in the stands in December. That makes it seem as if he has at least some feelings for her. Romo quickly recovered from his slump, and his statistics improved for his next game. He told the press that Jessica was also in the stands that time, but she was never shown on the jumbotron and he wouldn’t say where she was when asked.

Jessica Simpson has officially earned the title of jinx. She has become the Yoko Ono of football thanks to a poor performance by Tony Romo during Sunday night’s game against the Eagles. I believe I saw this coming earlier when Tony dumped Carrie Underwood to focus on his game.

She did her girlfriend duty by supporting her newly found man of the month. Jess watched the entire game with looks of distress at every dumped play. She even donned a pink #9 Cowboys jersey. But all the positive juju couldn’t stop Tony and his bruised thumb from loosing the game 10-6.

Dallas was expected to easily overtake Philadelphia. The Cowboys boast a 12-2 season while the Eagles are last in the NFC East with a 6-8 standing. The fans began pointing the finger at Tony’s lack of a touchdown (for the first time this season) at Jessica’s presence. Fans held up signs reading, “Tony, Dump Jessica and Marry Me!” Several members of the Cowboy crowd let Romo know their discontent by shouting, “Worry about the game and not your girlfriend!”

We will have to see if the force field of Jessica’s bosom can hold on to Tony. After getting rid of Carrie due to football, I am sure it is only a matter of time before Jess and her oblivious nature become baggage. As long as she doesn’t feed her football player fetish by latching on to any Chicago Bears, I am kosher.

And by passing interest I mean staring at the guys’ asses when a male family member forces me to watch the occasional game after a large meal. From what I understand they’re supposed to take the ball and run to the side that’s guarded by the opposite team. But even I can grasp the sheer level of failure that Jessica Simpson inspired her new boyfriend, Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo, to achieve. The guy played his worst game – ever – the first time Simpson was in attendance. The Cowboys lost to the Philadelphia Eagles 10-6 on Sunday, with Romo receiving the worst statistical rating of his career. Jessica was shown on the jumbotron with her trademark vacant expression and long curly extensions, doing her best to look interested while completely ruining her man’s concentration.

Wearing a pink Cowboys jersey (with Romo’s No. 9 on it) and mouthing his name, Jessica Simpson made a surprise appearance at Texas Stadium Sunday to watch her new Dallas Cowboys quarterback beau play the Philadelphia Eagles.

Not only did his team lose 10-6, the Associated Press reports, Romo’s quarterback rating of 22.2 was also the worst of his career. He completed 13 of 36 passes for 214 yards with no touchdowns and three interceptions.

Tim MacMahon, who blogs the Cowboys games for the Dallas Morning News, wrote, “No wonder Tony Romo hasn’t completed a pass. Jessica Simpson, wearing a white-and-pink Romo jersey, is sending him bad vibes from a luxury suite.

“Jessica Simpson owes it to her man to leave at halftime, although that would mean sacrificing valuable face time on national TV. Don’t count on it.”

This week’s In Touch notes that Romo brought his parents to the airport to meet Jessica when she made a quick stop in Dallaswith her dad. Romo also spent Thanksgiving at Jessica’s family’s house and is said to be a favorite of her protective dad, Joe. He seems to be really into her if he’s introducing her to his family, but after she ruined his game how long is it going to last?

US Weekly mentions that Romo’s second worst performance ever was when his then-girlfriend Carrie Underwood attended one of his games. It seems like a curse for the quarterback. Maybe he just can’t concentrate when he knows that a girlfriend is watching him, and this could doom all his relationships. He probably values his multi-million dollar career more than any relationship, and is more likely to break up than jeopardize all he’s worked for. The best course of action for Romo would be to tell his next girlfriend to stay home. And I’m sorry to word it like it’s inevitable, but Jessica doesn’t exactly have the best track record with keeping a man, and Romo doesn’t seem the super loyal type.

I always thought those pictures of gorgeous women in newspapers, offering sexual services were fake. Honestly, you’d think a woman that good looking could at least strip, or find herself a sugar daddy, or work in retail, rather than sell her body.

Turns out I was right about the fake pics – Jessica Simpson and models Karolina Kurkova and Alessandra Ambrosio are being advertised in Russian newspapers.

In the naughty section of the Moscow Times are ads for escorts, complete with photos — of these three stars! According to the ad, Kurkova’s working name is Kristina, Ambrosio’s is Masha and both are available 24 hours a day.

It was the day after Thanksgiving – but Jessica Simpson’s family was more than happy to hold off their dinner so she could return home with her new boyfriend, Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo.

The couple showed up at Jessica’s grandparents new home in Waco, Texas, on November 23 (a day late, since Tony had a game to play on Thanksgiving) and received a “hero’s welcome” from Joe and Tina Simpson and Jessica’s grandparents, according to an onlooker. While Tony has denied reports that he and Jessica are dating, insiders say the pair are definitely involved – and they’re getting more serious.
