Controversial designer Marc Jacobs, who has been raising eyebrows recently with his radical body and attitude makeover, has married his boyfriend, Lorenzo Martone. The couple were joined in a civil union in France.

Marc Jacobs is a newlywed. The designer and his hot Brazilian love, Lorenzo Martone, were married in a civil solidarity pact Sunday in France. “He’s totally excited,” said an insider. “He said he’s head-over-heels in love with Lorenzo. His life is coming together now.” Civil solidarity pacts were instituted in France in 1999, but they are not legally binding. Jacobs isn’t taking his honeymoon yet – he’s busy with his show for New York Fashion Week in September.

He began his career as a shy, schlubby shrinking violet with a belly and shaggy hair. Today, Marc is a darling of the NY party scene and has totally re-sculpted his body. He even personally recruited Posh Spice to represent his new line of avant garde clothing. Marc’s “I don’t give a f@#%” attitude is nearly as famous as his designs, and he and Lorenzo are often photographed partying with rock stars and actors. How long has he been with this guy he just married? NY Mag pointed out that Lorenzo was first seen out with Marc around May. That would mean they’ve only been going out a for a few months. Hope they had a prenup.

“Borat” star Sacha Baron Cohen is finding himself in the unpleasant position of being caught between his traditional Jewish parents and his modern working mom fiancee, actress Isla Fisher. The pair have been engaged for quite some time and now have a daughter, Olive. However, Cohen’s parents- particularly his mother- have insisted that the couple cannot wed until Isla has converted to Judaism. But Isla has been focused on her baby and burgeoning film career, putting her Jewish studies on the back burner- which means the wedding, originally scheduled for late summer, is now postponed indefinitely.

A source said: ‘Isla was supposed to spend her time after giving birth hard at work on her Torah studies, and that’s gone far slower than expected.

‘It’s very much frustrated her future in-laws, especially Sacha’s mother, who were really hoping for a wedding this summer.’

The source added: ‘Right now there’s no wedding date set because Isla hasn’t fully converted yet, and even though she’s working at it part-time, she’s far from being close to completing her studies.’

Isla, who has spent most of this summer filming her upcoming project Confessions Of A Shopaholic, is said to have a tense relationship with Sacha’s mother, Daniella.

The source said: ‘What made relations difficult between Isla and Sacha’s mother is that she really wanted Isla to spend more time with the baby and their family in England instead of being hasty and returning to work so quickly.

‘Now that Isla’s done shooting, she’s in the awkward position of making up for lost time.’

To this end, the Australian-born actress, who found fame in Home And Away in the Nineties, is spending increasing amounts of time with her in-laws in Britain, in an apparent effort to endear herself to them.

Meanwhile the notoriously reclusive Baron Cohen, 36, is patiently playing peacemaker between his wife and mother.

Instead of wedding preparations, he has channelled his energies into work, chalking up long hours on his new reality-based film Bruno, which has nearly completed filming and will be released worldwide next summer.

The source said: ‘Sacha is not as worried about the relationship between his parents and Isla as everyone else is because he’s extremely devoted to her and their child.

‘He also believes that putting too much pressure on Isla is only going to make the wedding happen later rather than sooner.

‘He is happy taking his time to get married the same way he was happy having a long engagement.

‘But in the meantime Isla’s had to endure a lot of awkward moments with Sacha’s mother, who just doesn’t seem to understand her future daughter-in-law’s drive to become a big star.’

For Isla’s part, the actress is said to be looking forward to becoming a Cohen.

That mother sounds like a nightmare. And if Sacha were smart he’d put her in her place and make it clear that HE’S the one getting married to Isla, not the rest of the family. “My Name is Earl” star and Scientologist Jason Lee was spotted at a courthouse in California filing for a marriage license, along with his pregnant girlfriend. Someone snapped a photo of the actor while waiting in line to file for the license- and damned if he didn’t dress exactly like Earl, complete with messy hair and flannel shirt. Maybe the reason he’s so good on that show is that he’s not really acting.

Camden County’s most famous resident looks set to walk down the aisle.

Multiple TMZ spies spotted Scientolostar Jason Lee and his pregnant GF, Ceren Alkac, in line for a marriage license at the Norwalk, Calif. courthouse this afternoon — and one of ‘em snapped that snazzy pic of Lee on the left.

Ceren is due with the couple’s first child in the fall. Lee has a son from a previous relationship — famously named Pilot Inspektor.

Calls to Lee’s rep were not returned.

Two sports legends are taking the plunge this weekend. Tennis player Chris Evert and golfer Greg Norman are getting married on Paradise Island in the Bahamas. The couple have had a bit of wedding drama it seems – at the very last minute they decided to change the location of the ceremony – seemingly to keep the paparazzi at bay.

Australian golfer Norman and American tennis star Evert, both 53, were expected to tie the knot at a sunset ceremony on a private beach on Paradise Island. But the couple, who are reported to have sold the wedding rights, have switched to a nearby fenced off area, to avoid media attention.

A host of celebrities are expected to attend the lavish wedding, including former US presidents Bill Clinton and George Bush Sr., singer Gwen Stefani and her husband Gavin Rossdale, Kenny Loggins and comedian Chevy Chase. Other famous faces who have been invited include tennis players Lleyton Hewitt, Anna Kournikova, Lindsay Davenport, Martina Navratilova and Ms Evert’s former fiancé Jimmy Connors.

Both Norman, whose nickname is The Great White Shark, and Evert have been married before. She has two ex-husbands, while the acrimonious disintegration of Norman’s marriage to his first wife Laura Andrassy made the headlines in 2006.

Greg Norman had quite the acrimonious legal battle with his ex-wife Laura Andrassy. According to the Daily Mail, he canceled her credit cards and changed the locks on their $36 million mansion. But she eventually got a $100 million settlement.

The Daily Mail asked her for a comment (which I’m sure she was thrilled about) and she responded, “‘I have no wishes for them except to say they deserve each other.’” Ouch. Hopefully the next round will go better for the both of them.

Talk show host Ellen Degeneres, 50, announced plans to marry her longterm partner, actress Portia de Rossi, 35, the day after a landmark decision by the California Supreme Court overturning the ban on same sex marriage. Now that same sex partners have full marriage rights in their state, Ellen and Portia aren’t waiting to make their union legal. Ellen told reporters at the Daytime Emmy Awards on Friday that they’ve set a date and that Portia has a Neil Lane engagement ring. People reports that it’s a “marquis cut diamond set with pink diamonds.” From the details Ellen mentioned, it sounds like their wedding is going to be a lavish affair with a large guest list:

“Yes, we have set a wedding date,” she confessed. “Portia has a ring. It’s a Neil Lane ring.”

Ellen, who also revealed she plans to fly Portia’s mom in from Australia for the ceremony, was eager to talk about her upcoming nuptials admitting that , “planning a wedding is stressful.”

She also joked about the size of the guest list, joking that her many Emmys “will be on top of the cake,” and that the wedding is now so big “my gardener is invited.”

Ellen and Portia aren’t going to get a prenuptial agreement, according to the barely reliable Star Magazine. Star quotes a supposed insider that Ellen “finds prenups unromantic,” and claims both partners are secure that the relationship will last. Under California law, all assets acquired by the couple during the marriage are community assets to be split in half if the couple divorces.

Poor Mimi. This week news leaked that she had her assistant break the number one rule of wedding etiquette: thou shall not request gifts from people. Especially people that weren’t invited to the wedding. Mariah had her assistant send out a list of her bridal registries to a hundred of her wealthy friends. While this was the epitome of tacky, it was also rather confusing. Mariah’s been telling everyone that would listen that she and new husband Nick Cannon will be having a second – bigger –wedding stateside in the next few months.

However nothing’s been mentioned for about a month – and now it sounds like we know why.

Mariah Carey’s Big Apple wedding might be off, according to sources close to Carey. The pop diva and her husband, Nick Cannon, hoped to have a lavish celebration that would involve millions of dollars and dozens of bridesmaids.

“The small wedding in the Bahamas was nice, but it was not Mariah’s style. The lady loves a spectacle,” said a source familiar with Mariah’s plans. What went wrong? The issue of who was picking up the tab.

“Mariah was willing to pay for the wedding, but the way she hoped to pay for the wedding was through the sale of photos. No one was interested,” the source revealed.

That said, Nick and Mariah are supposedly still super happy, according to the Scoop. And by happy, we mean happily shopping away, which for this couple seems to equal bliss. I can’t remember the last time I’ve seen two people focus so much on the acquiring of stuff. Actually, I can – Mariah Carey. She did it enough for two people anyway. Mariah is rolling in dough – there’s no reason she needs to fund a second wedding through picture payments. It sounds like it has more to do with her ego than anything. Anything having to do with Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt makes me feel uncontrollably nauseous. And I know I’m not alone here – I think it’s safe to say this applies to 99.9999% of the rest of the world as well. The notorious media whoring couple just can’t keep one single moment of their lives private, and have decided to pimp their wedding to MTV. With just about any other celebrity couple, this would be somewhere between fabulous and semi-interesting, depending on the couple. But with Heidi and Spencer, it’s just the next step in a process that serves to inflate their undeservedly large egos – and bank accounts.

Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt want to do it on live television. The pressaholic reality-television couple have been talking to MTV honchos about a live telecast of their upcoming nuptials!

Montag, 21, has told MTV programming and development honcho Tony DiSanto that they’re ready to say their I-do’s for the cameras, a source reports.

No surprise, but DiSanto is said to be keen on the idea.

According to Montag and Pratt’s weekly latest cover story in Us, their dream is a small wedding on Sir Richard Branson’s Necker Island in the Virgin Islands, with catering by Wolfgang Puck’s Cut restaurant, watches by Jason of Beverly Hills for all their guests and a performance by U2.

Of course, Montag wants to warble out a tune, too.

Mariah Carey really is the epitome of tacky. After she and Nick Cannon fairly randomly flew off to the Bahamas to get married, everyone assumed they’d have some kind of local celebration when they got back here. There’s been a ton of gossip about it – but so far, nothing has materialized. That hasn’t stopped Mariah and Nick from registering for outlandishly expensive gifts. Which in and of itself is fairly tacky. But the absolute golden rule of wedding registries is that you don’t broadcast your gift list – you wait until you are asked where you’re registered. Of course that didn’t stop Mariah from having her assistant send out registry information to a hundred of her wealthy friends.

Mariah Carey’s friends and colleagues weren’t invited to her impromptu wedding to Nick Cannon, but they can still send a gift. According to an insider, “Mariah’s assistant, Gina, sent out over 100 e-mails to her wealthy friends letting them know that she’s registered at Bergdorf Goodman if they want to buy her a present. It’s odd because she’s not even having a big wedding party or anything. It was assumed they’d have a big celebration when they got back, but no. They just want the gifts.” On the list are “fine china, very expensive silver stemware” and other items. Carey’s rep declined to comment.

Star Magazine claims that Nicole Richie and Joel Madden, the live-in father of her five month-old daughter Harlow, are planning a $2 million wedding to take place at her father Lionel Richie’s estate later this month. Star Magazine likes to make up stories, but this one includes a three day timeline of Nicole’s planned wedding activities which adds some credence to this story. There are also plenty of wedding details that sound like they could be true:

Nicole and Joel [plan to] exchange vows on June 29, which will cap off a three-day weeding extravaganza – including a Pretty in Pink bridal shower, a video slideshow and spa treatments – that will be an unforgettable weekend for 100 of their closest friends and family.

“Nicole wanted it to be incredibly special for everyone involved, not just the bridal party” – which will include her BFF Masha Gordon as maid of honor, little sister Sophie as the flower girl and Paris and Nicky Hilton as bridesmaids, says one source. “She wants everyone to play games, swim, hang out and enjoy themselves all weekend…”

[It] will be the “wedding of the year,” says another source of the $2 million affair. “Cost is not an issue!”

For the main event, which will take place at the Bel-Air mansion of her father, Lionel Richie, Nicole, 26, is still choosing what dress she’ll wear – but she knows it will be in a champagne tone.

“She’s been offered one-of-a-kind gowns by both Monique Lhuillier and Vera Wang,” says an insider. “She knows she wants it to be traditional and classy, but she doesn’t want it to be very long.”

Star also claims that Nicole is planning to hold little Harlow while she and Joel say her vows, which will be written by them for the occasion. The bridesmaids will wear gowns purchased by Nicole from different designers, and the groomsmen and groom will wear Sean Jean tuxedos.

The three day event includes a rehearsal dinner and bachelorette party on Friday, June 27, a bridal shower including manicure/pedicures, massages and hair and makeup on Saturday, and the big event and reception on Sunday. Joel and Nicole will honeymoon in Hawaii afterwards and Star says they don’t plan on bringing Harlow with them.

Congratulations to Nicole and Joel. They’re likely to negotiate with a magazine to sell the photos for an amount that will partially pay for this lavish wedding. They seem stable enough to make their marriage last, and hopefully Paris Hilton and Joel’s brother Benji won’t follow their lead any time soon.

Charlie Sheen and his new bride, Brooke Mueller, have a revealing interview in this week’s OK! Magazine to accompany the photos from their wedding. Some of the highlights include the predictably extensive comments about Charlie’s ex, Denise Richards, in which he says he’s not going to say her name, but he still manages to talk about her a lot. They also say they’re trying for a baby right away, but that Brooke isn’t pregnant.

Charlie touts the fact that he got his wedding suit from low-cost chain Men’s Warehouse, which has suits from around $200 to $600, because he’s had problems with designer suits falling apart and he loves their commercials. The bride wore a Reem Acra gown and a headdress made from twigs and woven white wildflowers, in keeping with the ceremony and reception’s “nature” theme. Her engagement ring is a whopping 11.64 carats, but she says she’s only going to wear her wedding band out. There were 68 guests at the non-denominational ceremony including Charlie’s parent’s his three brothers, his co-stars, Jon Cryer and Holland Taylor, and their friends Eric Dane and Rebecca Gayheart.

Charlie, why did you go to Men’s Wearhouse for your wedding suit?
I like their commercials a lot! I got tired of $3,000 suits falling apart in the middle of certain events. I didn’t wear a tux because they’re hot and they don’t breath.

Are you planning to start trying to have a baby right away.
Charlie: That’s the plan.
Brooke: There’s a rumor I’m pregnant, and I’m not.

How difficult was it hearing the comments your ex-wife Denise Richards made in the media on the eve of your wedding?
I’m so tired of talking about her and all her shenanigans. It is what it is. I don’t even care anymore. I’m going to take a stand to basically never utter her name publicly again, and I think if that’s known, it will put an end to some of this drama.

Have you watched her E! reality show?
No, and I won’t.

How do you both stay centered amid the craziness?
Brooke: The injustice of it makes me crazy, and it’s hard to handle. But Charlie’s a pro. He’s an amazing father, and to hear what she is saying is so difficult. I want to protecthim.
Charlie: I think it’s not accident that whatsherface chose this time to do what she did. It’s pretty obvious that Brooke and I, through our actions and union, are moving on with our lives. Perhaps somebody else should consider the same.

Brooke and Charlie are probably obligated to talk about Denise by whatever large sum they received from OK! for exclusive rights to their wedding photos. You can’t help but think that fighting that harpie together helped unite them in a common cause and brought them closer together. Even though they say they’re moving on, you can definitely sense some triumph in their decision to get married and show a united front.

This week’s National Enquirer reports a sad rumor that Brooke suffered a miscarriage 10 weeks into a pregnancy just a week before their wedding. I hope that’s not true. They also say that Charlie wore a “black Pronto Uomo suit.” The most expensive Pronto Uomo suit on Men’s Wearhouse.com costs $500. It’s possible that Sheen was paid for an endorsement, but it sounds pretty genuine considering that he says he loves the commercials.
