Kristen Stewart is smug about her naturally skinny frame & cute ass

kristenstewart
Kristen Stewart is the cover girl for the November issue of Allure Magazine. She’s been in quite a few magazine lately, all to promote New Moon. Honestly, though, she says a lot of the same things in her interviews – I thought I had already done this story because she’s saying a lot of the same stuff that was in her recent Interview cover profile, except maybe less about “dominance and masochism”.

There were a couple of notable exceptions, though. Kristen talks a lot about body image and whether she works out to maintain her slim build. The answer is a resounding “hell no”. Kristen says: “I don’t exercise. I’m skinny fat. I worry about being too skinny. You should see my brother, he’s, like, emaciated. We both just happen to be really skinny.” She also has funny things to those infamous shots of her running into the arms of shirtless Robert “Sparkles” Pattinson on the set of New Moon in May. After those photos came out, many noted that K-Stew has quite a cute little ass. Of course, Kristen not having it: “This shot got everyone talking like I have some sort of great ass. But come on, I have a flat ass. I don’t know what people are talking about.” Sigh. She’s no fun. Here’s more of the interview, via Us Weekly:

Kristen Stewart says she doesn’t exercise or watch her diet.

“You should see my brother; he’s, like, emaciated,” the Twilight star, 19, tells the November issue of Allure. “We both just happen to be really skinny.”

But the actress doesn’t think she looks good. She laments the way she appears on talk shows while promoting her vampire flicks. (New Moon hits theaters Nov. 20.)

“It’s all about those 10 minutes. You have to be funny and cute, and you have to promote the movie, and I don’t know what else,” she says. “You have to look hot or something. I don’t know; I don’t know.”

Still, she’s not doing much to improve her style.

“I go outside, and I’m wearing a funky T-shirt and my hair is dirty, and people say, ‘What’s wrong with her? She needs to invest in a hairbrush,’” she says. “I’m like, don’t you get it? I’m not that girl! Like, I never was that girl. It’s not like I was really clean-cut last year.”

But that doesn’t stop her from Googling herself to see what people think.

“The commenters are usually worse than the bloggers,” she says. “I know what people say about me.”

Stewart — who got lost en route to her Allure interview at a Beverly Hills hotel — says she’ll check the internet later to “see what an idiot I looked like getting lost … you just Google, ‘Kristen Stewart, lost, directions.’ Or put the date in. I can’t believe I’m giving away how to Google me!”

In the same interview, Stewart refuses to discuss her relationships with Michael Angarano or costar Robert Pattinson, but touches on the “sexual dynamics” between her character, Bella, and Pattinson’s Edward.

The two can’t have sex on screen because it would turn Bella into a vampire.

“It’s [more than] foreplay. Even though it does that so well — it does a f—ing good job — the buildup, is like, ridiculous. But it’s all for the right reasons. You’re so in her shoes that it’s a vicarious experience. It’s addictive,” she says.

[From Us Weekly]

I tend to believe her about the naturally skinny thing. She doesn’t seem like the kind of girl who is all about dieting. She has the arrogance of a naturally slender girl with a cute ass. Bitch! No, I do think she’s a cutie, but I wish she would occasionally be a bit more gracious. In any case, once she gets a bit older, I’m sure her metabolism will go to hell and she’ll have to work out to keep that ass. Oh, and she also needs to learn that bathing isn’t optional. And that being “clean” isn’t such a bad thing. What does Sparkles see in her anyway? She’s naturally skinny and she doesn’t like being clean. She’s like a dude. Ruh-roh. Is that what Sparkles sees in her?

Ralph Lauren fired infamous photoshopped model for being overweight

Last week, Jaybird wrote about the incident involving a print ad for Ralph Lauren and the model Filippa Hamilton being photoshopped to a grotesque level. The ad only appeared in Japan, but through the magic of the interwebs, it became a global story about body image, modeling and a brand that is usually known for much healthier images of women. Ralph Lauren (the company, not the designer) made a lot of excuses and threats about the ad, but in the end, the company had to issue a half-assed apology.

Now the model at the center of the controversy is speaking out. Filippa Hamilton is telling the New York Daily News that she was fired in April because the powers that be at Ralph Lauren deemed her “overweight”. Try NYDN for a current image of how “overweight” she looks – it looks like she gained some weight in her bust, and that’s about it. Ralph Lauren’s statement about Filippa makes it sound like they technically fired her for violating her contract… probably by putting on a few pounds.

Ralph Lauren’s clothing company fired the model whose body looked emaciated in a touched-up ad because she weighed too much, the woman told the Daily News Tuesday.

Filippa Hamilton – whose hips appeared slimmer than her head in the recent altered ad – said her contract was terminated in April because she was too heavy.

“They fired me because they said I was overweight and I couldn’t fit in their clothes anymore,” she said.

The 5-foot-10, 120-pound stunner was amazed to see her body digitally distorted for Ralph Lauren Blue Label.

“I was shocked to see that super skinny girl with my face,” she told the Daily News. “It’s very sad, I think, that Ralph Lauren could do something like that.”

Hamilton, 23, worked for Ralph Lauren since about 2002 and considered the company like a second family – until she was bounced.

Then out of nowhere last week, the altered ad – which appeared only in Japan – caused a sensation and drew the ire of critics who thought it appeared sickly and unrealistic.

Polo Ralph Lauren said in a statement Tuesday night that Filippa is a “beautiful and healthy” woman but their relationship ended “as a result of her inability to meet the obligations under her contract with us.”

“The image in question was mistakenly released and used in a department store in Japan and was not the approved image which ran in the U.S. We take full responsibility,” the statement said. “This error has absolutely no connection to our relationship with Filippa Hamilton.”

Hamilton’s lawyer, Geoffrey Menin, said the image is “gross distortion of how she really looks and which we fear will be extremely damaging to her.”

Hamilton is concerned about its impact on the public.

“I think they owe American women an apology, a big apology,” she said. “I’m very proud of what I look like, and I think a role model should look healthy.”

[From the New York Daily News]

Well, the company did apologize. A Ralph Lauren spokesperson told the Daily Mail (via Huffington Post): “’For over 42 years, we have built a brand based on quality and integrity. After further investigation, we have learned that we are responsible for the poor imaging and retouching that resulted in a very distorted image of a woman’s body. We have addressed the problem and going forward will take every precaution to ensure that the calibre of our artwork represents our brand appropriately.” Of course, that isn’t really an “apology” to American women… or women in general, around the world. I do think Filippa is owed a better explanation for why she was fired – and Ralph Lauren should do a bigger mea culpa for this whole mess.

Karl Lagerfeld: only fat, potato chip-eating moms hate thin models

fp_3737807_ang_lagerfeld_ce
Anger Bear Karl Lagerfeld has decided to wade into the latest debate about the size of the current crop of models. Oh… you know this is going to be good, too. Can you feel it? Karl was asked about a magazine editor’s recent decision to use “realistic” women in their photo shoots as the backlash against insect-thin models grows. Of course, Karl had to shut that sh-t down. Karl sniffed: “It’s absurd. No one wants to see curvy women. You’ve got fat mothers with their bags of chips sitting in front of the television and saying thin models are ugly.” Karl thinks fashion is “dreams and illusions.” The Guardian has more background on this story, but I do have to make one note – they change the words “mothers” and “chips” to “mummies” and “crisps”. Karl’s original comments were either to Agene France or Focus Magazine (or both) and I do wonder if he originally said this stuff in German, and everyone is translating however they see fit. Maybe it sounds different in German? Maybe it’s not as harsh?

Karl Lagerfeld, the eccentric German fashion designer, has waded into the debate about size-zero models by stating that people prefer to look at “skinny models”, and those who do not are “fat mummies”.

Lagerfeld, 71, was reacting to the magazine Brigitte’s announcement last week that it will in future use “ordinary, realistic” women rather than professional models in its photoshoots. He said the decision by Germany’s most popular women’s magazine was “absurd” and driven by overweight women who did not like to be reminded of their weight issues.

“These are fat mummies sitting with their bags of crisps in front of the television, saying that thin models are ugly,” Lagerfeld said in an interview with Focus magazine. The creative director of the fashion house Chanel added that the world of fashion was all to do “with dreams and illusions, and no one wants to see round women”.

Lagerfeld, who is known in the trade as a designer with a particular penchant for skinny models, adopted an almost emaciated look himself a few years ago, losing a lot of weight when he went on a strict low-carbohydrate diet. He has continued to share his diet tips over the years, stating: “I only like the things that I’m allowed to eat, so it’s not like I have to avoid anything, which is how I don’t put on weight.”

He has also repeatedly defended the fashion world against claims that it encourages anorexia.

Three years ago in Berlin, the designer, known in the trade as King Karl and who sports a trademark upturned white collar and black leather gloves, created a stir by saying that it was psychological problems that caused models to be underweight, not pressure from the fashion industry.

“They aren’t deliberately skinny because they want to be models, they’ve probably had family problems or suffered from other traumas,” he said, adding that he had never seen any anorexic models himself, “only extremely slim ones”.

Brigitte’s editor, Andreas Lebert, said that after years of having to “fatten up” pictures of underweight models “with Photoshop”, the magazine will produce its first edition with non-professional models on 2 January.

“We will show women that have their own identity – the 18-year-old A-level student, the company chairwoman, the musician, the footballer,” he said. Lebert, who said the average weight of a model was “23% less” than that of a non-model, is calling for readers to sign up for photo sessions.

Brigitte’s decision follows a recent appeal by British Vogue editor Alexandra Shulman to major fashion houses to end the “size-zero” culture, and a scandal over a Ralph Lauren advertising campaign in which a model was “thinned down” using computer graphics.

[From The Guardian]

I’m starting to think Karl enjoys riling us too much. Like, it turns him on to be so nasty. Since we already know Karl hates fatties (and I’m using that term as a joke), I suppose we don’t really have anything to add to our running tally of Karl Lagerfeld’s List of Hate. At last total, Karl hated: love, the internet, Heidi Klum, food, mornings, Seal, mirrors, Diane von Furstenberg, the 1990s, traveling, human contact, anyone with a skin condition, fatties, anyone who doesn’t gush over the current Chanel line, public transportation, Audrey Tautou, sunshine, feminists, children, and models who have never been in Paris. I’m going to add fat mothers, potato chips, sitting in front of the television, and anyone who says thin models are ugly.

By the way, for anyone who needs a good laugh, check out this awesome video of Katy Perry trying to interview Karl Lagerfeld at his Paris show. He corrects her over and over, tells her he hates Sundays, talks about how he loves Lily Allen, compliments her on being “only a size 2” and says she did okay “for a beginner”. It’s pretty incredible.

Ralph Lauren ad features model Photoshopped to look insect thin

1008ralphlaurenad

Given that many magazines are starting to use regular-sized women as models (I’m not going to say “plus-size,” because while they are larger than your average model, they’re not plus-sized for your average person), it seems like Ralph Lauren is rather backward thinking when it comes to their own model selection. I’m not going to slam a fashion brand for choosing a thin model, but not only did Ralph Lauren do that, but they Photoshopped at least 20 lbs off already extremely thin Filippa Hamilton. She looks like a preying mantis. To make matters worse, instead of taking responsibility for their actions, Ralph Lauren legally attacked the websites that were posting the image in order to have a discussion.

Just as the fashion world seemed to be coming around to promoting realistic portrayals of women, designer Ralph Lauren has come under fire promoting an unhealthy aesthetic of dangerously thin women.

Bloggers have slammed the legendary American designer for an ad that shows model Filippa Hamilton in what appears to be a heavily altered photo. The ad in question appeared on Boing Boing, with a blogger noting “Dude, her head’s bigger than her pelvis.” Indeed, Hamilton, whose thin body appears to be in keeping with the fashion industry aesthetic of tall and incredibly thin, looks emaciated in the photo.

But the fashion house did not take well to the criticism and slammed the site, claiming that the use of the image was a copyright infringement. Boing Boing shot back saying it was fair use because the reproduction was being used for purposes such as “criticism, comment, news reporting etc.”

Still, despite the legal issues, we were concerned by the imagery in the photo. The message of a model who is already probably less than 115 pounds having 20 pounds digitally removed from her body is disconcerting at best. After Glamour magazine and other fashion sites have been praised for the use of plus size models, some are arguing that Ralph Lauren is moving backward.

[From Fox 411]

The photo originally appeared on the website PhotoshopDisasters. Ralph Lauren filed a Digital Millennium Copyright Act against the blog in order to force the entries to be immediately removed, which their ISP (and most ISPS) automatically do when a DMCA is filed. Because why fess up to your poor decisions when you can blame someone else? Eventually Ralph Lauren admitted wrongdoing yesterday.

“For over 42 years we have built a brand based on quality and integrity. After further investigation, we have learned that we are responsible for the poor imaging and retouching that resulted in a very distorted image of a woman’s body. We have addressed the problem and going forward will take every precaution to ensure that the caliber of our artwork represents our brand appropriately.”

[From Extra]

What a great way to make a medium-sized problem so much worse. It’s inexcusable to try to show that a healthy “ideal” woman should look like she has a – what size would that be, a 15 inch waist? Instead of saying, “Yeah, our bad, we’re ridiculously superficial (obviously) and don’t give a crap how unrealistic and unhealthy our expectations are” they try to distract with a bunch of legal b.s. claiming we don’t even have the right to look at and comment upon the image. Ralph Lauren used to be a nice brand with a reasonably classy image. This is just pure trash.

Here’s what Filippa Hamilton (and her waist) looked like in previous Ralph Lauren ads.

Tori Spelling rebukes Star Mag: “I’m 107 pounds”
Tori Spelling grocery shopping with her son Liam in Malibu

Earlier this week, we covered Star Magazine’s current cover story, “95 lbs! Tori Spelling Collapses!” What was strange about it (in my mind) was that Star didn’t really spend too much time on the “Tori Spelling is too thin, she must have an eating disorder” part of the gossip. Instead, the story was mostly about how Tori is really upset after reading or hearing about Dean McDermott’s ex-wife Mary Jo Eustace’s book. Eustace’s book is full of many, many stories about Tori and Dean, and Star happily excerpted even more. Star’s report made it sound like Tori was really, really stressed out, and that’s why she was hospitalized last week.

Tori took to her Twitter account to rebuke the “LIES” in Star’s report. But all she really corrects is her weight, not the part about Mary Jo’s book. Star claimed Tori weighs “95 lbs!” when Tori claims she actually weighs 107 pounds. Eh. Really? I’d actually put her at something closer to 115 pounds, given her height and those massive, disgusting implants. Saline counts when you’re calculating your weight, Tori!

Here’s the skinny. Tori Spelling is slamming a Star cover story that alleges she collapsed and had to be rushed to the ER for being drastically underweight at 95 pounds.

The Tori and Dean: Home Sweet Hollywood star, 36, took to her Twitter account to set the record straight.

“Star Mag…LIES!” she posted Thursday. “Literally not 1 factual thing in entire article. And, come 2 my house & weigh me Star! I’m 107lbs. if you care about FACTS?!?”

The tabloid alleges that a painfully thin Spelling collapsed after an “angry showdown” with husband Dean McDermott, whose ex-wife has written an incriminating tell-all.

The 90210 alum was indeed admitted to the hospital twice within 24 hours on Sept. 29 — but for an undisclosed stomach ailment, her rep confirmed to Usmagazine.com.

Spelling has come under fire in the past for her thin frame, but told Us Weekly in June: “I am healthy…I am a busy working mom!” The actress went on, adding that she’s “always gotten” picked on for her slim body size.

“This is my weight, and I’m not unhealthy,” Spelling insisted. “I’m very healthy. It is hard to be criticized in public, and it’s harder for your family to deal with it than you. You kind of get a thick skin. When you have kids and when you have a husband, it’s upsetting.”

[From Us Weekly]

Well, I guess it’s nice that a celebrity responded directly to a tabloid lie. However, the problem with that is the sin of omission. Since Tori didn’t directly respond to the part of the story about Mary Jo’s book, can we assume it’s true? There in lies the rub, celebrities. I do applaud Tori for “revealing” her weight though – I don’t think many celebrities would do that to correct a tabloid story. Revealing your weight is like revealing how many people you’ve slept with.

Jennifer Love Hewitt: BF Jamie Kennedy encourages my pear ass to diet

shapecover
Jennifer Love Hewitt is the cover girl for October’s Shape Magazine. While I don’t doubt that the body shown on the cover is Jennifer’s, I really think they shaved off quite a bit on her thighs and hips. I’m not judging (seriously, I’m not), but if you want to see what Jennifer’s un-photoshopped body looks like in a bikini, try these very recent pictures of her being a dumbass on a tennis court. That’s what she really looks like – and she’s not bad, or overweight or anything, but she’s not this size-2, plucked, sucked and firm Shape cover girl.

In the interview for Shape, Jennifer goes on and on about body image, and she gives her boyfriend Jamie Kennedy a lot of credit for making her eat healthier. Of course. Because Jennifer recently told the world that the first time Jamie saw her naked, he called her “pear ass”. Ah… true love. Jennifer’s really selling it, too. The most gagtastic line of the whole interview is “I fall asleep feeling beautiful.” My response: “I fall asleep with a bourbon buzz, smiling as I try to imagine what Clive Owen looks like naked.”

Nearly two years after was she was criticized for showing off some cellulite while at the beach in Hawaii, Jennifer Love Hewitt is savoring the best revenge of all – baring a new, toned body ready for a bikini.

But she admits that she still has insecurities about her figure.

“I’m a girl, after all!” the actress, 30, tells the October issue of Shape, out this week. “For the most part, yeah, I’m happy with my body, but there are days when I’m like, ‘Ugh! Really? Why is it so hard to fit into my jeans?’ That’s when I say to myself, ‘I look this way because I’m supposed to. If we all looked the same, we’d be boring.’ ”

Hewitt also thanks boyfriend Jamie Kennedy, whom she’s been dating for seven months, for her slimmer and healthier lifestyle

“He’s inspired me to improve my diet,” she says. “He has a salad with every meal, plus lots of fruit, fish, and vegetables.”

And she’s also been a good influence on him.

“Last summer we were in Monaco. Every morning we ran for 40 minutes through the streets of Monte Carlo,” she says. “It was an amazing way to see the city. Now when we travel, we try to explore the places by running.”

But there’s no beating the power of positive thinking.

“I fall asleep feeling beautiful,” she says. “Then, in the morning, before I leave the house, I say five things I love about myself, like ‘You have really pretty eyes.’ That way I can go out into the world with that little bit of extra confidence. It’s a feel-good protein shake in my back pocket in case someone messes with me that day.”

[From People]

I know she’s harmless. She’s like a Saltine that’s been left out for a day. Not horrible, but not great. But her act cracks me up. Some of her advice is okay though – she recommends grocery shopping every few days, just so the fridge isn‘t always full: “Instead of piling up food in my fridge that says, ‘Come eat me!’ I keep enough for only a couple of days. And I rarely have treats around that might tempt me late at night, which is when I usually crave something really fattening. What am I going to do? Drive out at 11 at night just to satisfy a craving? No, that’s crazy.” Yeah, that’s crazy until PMS hits you like a freight train and you’re ready to stab somebody for a mini Snickers bar. As far as the grocery shopping thing, I’ll admit, I prefer shopping every three days or so, but it’s time consuming. But I guess Jennifer doesn’t have anything better to do.

Shar Jackson: K-Fed doesn’t care that he’s gained weight

33519PCN_Kfed

Shar Jackson, the mother of Kevin Federline’s two oldest children, has confirmed what we’ve all long suspected: K-Fed doesn’t give a rip that he’s fat. He’s gained God only knows how much weight in the last year or so. I’d ballpark it around fifty pounds, residing mostly north of his legs, with the vast bulk of it chilling around his midsection. Where a female celebrity would have gotten all sorts of crap for gaining that much weight so quickly, K-Fed hasn’t felt the same heat. Why? Well partly because he’s a man, but mostly because he’s K-Fed. He’s a Q-list celeb, so who cares? Britney Spears gains weight but at least she’s famous enough to warrant the discussion. K-Fed’s gotten off the hook because there’s only so much you can say about him.

Which doesn’t mean it isn’t interesting. This is probably mostly because I’ve been on a super strict diet for the last six months, but I can’t help but be really fascinated by whatever’s going on with K-Fed. I mean he’s made no explanation about it – not that he owes us one. But he’s just started sporting billowy shirts and that’s about it. A weight loss component has been added to his upcoming reality show, with VH1 telling him to lose 45 lbs. And another company offering him $2.5 million to endorse their weight loss pills. But it’s hard to tell if he’s really losing the pounds, because Shar flat out admits Federline doesn’t care.

Talk about Kevin Federline’s ghastly weight gain all you want.

“He doesn’t care,” his ex Shar Jackson told Usmagazine.com at HBO’s post-Emmys party in Los Angeles Sunday. “The beautiful thing about him is that he could care less.”

She said the 31-year-old dancer-turned-rapper is doing “good.”

As his ex Britney Spears continues her Circus tour, he’s been on the road looking after their sons Sean Preston, 4, and Jayden James, 3.

Jackson said that he still manages to phone the two children he has with her: Kori, 7, and Kaleb, 5.

“He calls them all the time,” she told Us. “They have good long phone conversations. I’m like, ‘Ok, that’s good. Hang up the phone ’cause we have stuff to do.’”

[From Us Weekly]

It’s good that Kevin doesn’t care about his weight gain in terms of stupid superficial stuff and what people are saying about him. He might want to care in terms of his health, but it’s not like he’s going to drop from a heart attack tomorrow. But he’s carrying a lot of weight in the midsection and that’s a huge precursor to diabetes. Stomach flab is the most dangerous fat. I’m sure that’s not news to him. Clearly he’s not working on his dance career anymore, he’s in a relationship that seems stable and happy, and he’s got some projects going with reality TV. I will find it pretty interesting to see if he really does lose weight for his show, and if so how much. Rarely do you see a male celeb struggle with such rapid weight gain. But it is sort of obvious that he doesn’t care, for better or worse. But you’d think $2.5 million would help him pretend to.

Did SNL fire Casey Wilson for not losing 30 pounds? (Update: denied)

fp_1779634_ram_bride_wars_010509

Late last week, it was announced that two of the most gifted comediennes of Saturday Night Live were abruptly fired. The two ladies were Casey Wilson and Michaela Watkins, and their replacements were named the same day – two young talents named Jenny Slate and Nasim Pedrad. The firing of Casey and Michaela caused a stir for several reasons – first, they were both really, really talented. Michaela’s Hota Kotb is eerily dead-on, and she also does an amazing Barbara Walters. As for Casey Wilson, she seemed like a really funny Gennifer Goodwin – and her “cougar” in the “Cougar Den” was particularly brilliant. Her comedic timing and delivery are flawless, and I had both Casey and Michaela pegged as two more Amy Poehlers or Tina Feys.

Michaela was the only one to speak out about the firings, telling Entertainment Weekly that she was “shocked” but she was told by SNL executive producer Lorne Michaels that “he felt deep down that I should have my own show. And I agreed. SNL was a dream come true for me. It was a fantastic year. I don’t have any regrets… What he said is he’s trying to get what’s best for him and best for me. He said it had nothing to do with talent. And I’m just going to go on that. That was his only explanation. He’s looking at the whole mix of the show and maybe he feels that what I bring would be better served on a sitcom.”

While Michaela was talking, Casey Wilson was not. Now Ted Casablanca at E! News has a interesting take on why Casey was fired, and why she hasn’t said anything so far. Basically, Casablanca claims Casey was fired because she couldn’t or wouldn’t lose 30 pounds. I should say – Ted Casablanca is usually full of crap. But there’s something about this report that really seems like it could be true:

There’s some seriously unfunny stuff happening over at Saturday Night Live. First up, just like last year, they’ve added two pretty white chicks to the mostly white cast.

These gals might be deserving, but there are plenty of hilarious black and Asian and nonwhite comedians out there who would give the show more diversity. Not to mention, casting a black actress might mean they wouldn’t have to keep flying in former castmember Maya Rudolph to play Michelle Obama these next four to eight years.

Producers made room for these two predictably attractive babes by firing Casey Wilson and Michaela Watkins. Watkins has been vocal, and pretty cheerful, about her exit from SNL, but Casey’s been completely quiet on the matter.

Could it be because of the totally bitchy and sexist way in which she was ousted from the sketch show?

Our inside comedy sources tell us SNL producers told the curvy Casey to lose 30 pounds during the show’s summer hiatus. They pretty much demanded it. And whether Wilson just couldn’t drop the weight or she just only wanted to give her middle finger some exercise, she didn’t drop a damn pound. And that’s when she was axed, we’re told.

The comedian was already on thin ice, since she never really developed a hit character on the show or struck a nerve with audiences during her two-season run. Case was aware she was one of the show’s least popular players—she even made a Funny or Die video about people not finding her funny (which, coincidentally, we find hilarious).

But insisting she drop pounds to be another stick-thin star? How pathetically prehistoric could Lorne Michaels & Co. possibly get? Casey was pretty much the only female castmember the show’s had in years who wasn’t a size 6 or smaller (a pregnant Amy Poehler notwithstanding). Whereas SNL’s been famous for highlighting obese men—John Belushi, Chris Farley, Horatio Sanz, Bobby Moynihan, to name a few.

Did Will Ferrell have to look good in a bikini for people to laugh at him? Hell no! So why should the women be treated any differently?

We’ve asked for a comment from the folks at SNL on this weighty issue, but they’re keeping mum for now.

Personally, we’ve seen Case play foul and ugly characters onstage live at the Upright Citizen’s Brigade Theatre in H’wood, and the furthest thing from her mind was worrying if people found her sexy. Good for her—what’s so friggin’ funny about a perfect-looking woman anyway? Lorne needs to wake up and realize we tune in to SNL to laugh, not get turned on.

[From E! News]

If this is true, it is abhorrent. Of course I noticed that Casey wasn’t stick thin – but she’s still a very pretty, attractive, and most importantly, funny comedienne. If Lorne Michaels or one of SNL’s producers told – or ordered – Casey to lose weight, and she was fired because she failed to do so, I say she should sue. This isn’t the Zeigfeld Follies, and not every woman has to be built like a showgirl. The American people can handle one comedienne in the SNL cast who is larger than a size 6. The all-white stuff bothers me too – but as Casablanca points out, it’s not as if they fired two white comediennes so they could fill out the cast in a more racially diverse way. That, I might be able to understand. But this is just nasty.

UPDATE: An NBC spokesperson denied E!’s report to The Wrap, an industry website. Spokeswoman Sharon Pannozzo says, “There’s absolutely no truth at all to the rumors regarding Casey Wilson… Her contract was simply not renewed.” Oh, so… it wasn’t that Casey was fat, it was that she sucked, I guess.

Jenny McCarthy reveals her weight for a good cause

Jenny McCarthy didn’t hold back from telling a drunk-looking Kathy Lee Gifford her number. No, not the number of guys Jenny has slept with, Jenny revealed her weight on the Today show yesterday morning. For some reason, this is getting a lot of play. I guess because female celebrities don’t often say their weight out loud, much less on live television? Jenny has nothing to be ashamed of – she weighs 125 pounds, and she gives her height as five foot six inches. She looks healthy to me – I could even see her with an extra ten to twenty pounds and she would still look healthy and fit.

Jenny McCarthy weighed more than 200 pounds when she delivered her son, Evan. But that was seven years ago, and now she is a Weight Watchers “lifer.”

Though she may not be posing for Playboy again, McCarthy is happy with her weight. Wine in hand, she shared that number with Hoda and Kathie Lee on the Today show.

“I’m normal for LA,” she said. “5’6,” 125 pounds.”

“I’m 5’9,” 145 pounds,” Hoda chimed in.

“You should be proud!” McCarthy told her. “That’s a good weight!” Kathie Lee declined to share her weight with America.

Of course Kathy Lee declined to tell her number. She doesn’t know how much a box of “morning wine” weighs. Anyhoodle, Jenny revealed her “number” all to promote her role in Weight Watchers “Lose For Good” campaign, which targets obesity and hunger. For the next month and a half, Jenny will be helping Weight Watchers raise up to $1 million for Share Our Strength and Action Against Hunger, projects that target those issues domestically and abroad. So far, Jenny has participated in donating “Good Food Garden” in Altadena, CA and given a lot of press to the joint causes. Good stuff.

Glamour’s size 12 nude model Lizzi Miller gets overwhelming support

lizzie2
From Glamour, September 2009
Lizzi Miller is going to be all over the news this week. She’s a 20-year-old model who weighs 180 pounds. Considering she’s nearly six feet tall, her proportions are great, and she looks healthy and… well, normal. Like a very pretty girl you would meet at a party. Lizzi was hired for a gig at Glamour Magazine - one photo to go along with an article in the September issue about having a healthy body image. The photo taken was of Lizzi in profile, wearing what looks like a g-string. I suppose the big deal is that she’s not sucking in her stomach, and she’s got a small tummy. She’s also got extremely realistic thighs. Lizzi’s smiling and laughing at something off-camera, and it’s simply a gorgeous photo. The photo went online, and became something of a sensation – people all over the world left comments, overwhelming positive, about how great she looks:

A single photo used for an article on self confidence in September’s issue of Glamour magazine has caused a buzz in the modeling world.

Meet Lizzi Miller: a 20-year-old, 180-pound, 5-foot-11 bombshell whose size 12-to-14 body matches that of the average American female.

After she was captured smiling and showing a bit of a tummy, the Glamour website was immediately overrun with positive comments, inspiring editor-in-chief Cindi Leive to reconsider the models shown in the magazine’s pages.

[From the Huffington Post]

Lizzi and the Glamour editor have been doing the publicity rounds – yesterday they went on the Today Show (video is below) and CNN. They’ll probably hit all the major networks before the week is out. While I’m thrilled that people are reacting positively to Lizzi and her body, I do tend to think this “controversy” was manufactured. At the very least, it shouldn’t take this kind of thing to make an editor realize that weight diversity in models is something that should happen every month, in every issue.
