Lindsay Lohan’s rep denies she’s on a liquid diet

lindsay lohan 020409

Lindsay Lohan’s ever-shrinking frame must be a real pain in the ass for her publicist. The poor woman is constantly having to defend Lohan’s eating – or in this case, not eating – practices. Rumors have steadily increased saying that Lohan is eating nothing more than candy and Red Bull – with a garnish of constant cigarettes, of course. Now the current gossip is she’s even cut out the candy and is subsisting on nothing more than three Red Bulls a day.

Of course Lindsay’s rep says there’s no truth to it, though she doesn’t bother to explain the massive weight loss. And she tells us to mind our own business. Thanks.

Following weeks of buzz in the blogosphere that Lindsay Lohan’s svelte figure is not the result of healthy eating and exercise, but instead due to her downing Red Bull, smoking cigarettes and eating candy, comes a new report claiming the actress, 22, is on a liquid diet that consists of drinking at least three Red Bull energy drinks a day.

But Lohan’s rep is slamming such rumors, telling PEOPLE exclusively: “Lindsay has always enjoyed a Red Bull, but she eats. Everybody needs to mind their own business and stop worrying about what Lindsay eats or doesn’t eat.”

On the career front, Lohan’s rep also refutes a claim that the actress doesn’t use her own spray tan line, Sevin Nyne, which launches this month on Sephora.com, but chooses Fake Bake services instead. Says Lohan’s rep: “She uses her own tanning products.”

[From People]

Something tells me the spelling of Lohan’s spray tan line isn’t due to creativity so much as it’s the result of Lindsay’s poor intellect. I’m sure if we could dig up one of her old second grade tests, we’d fine the exact same spelling on there.

I bet Lohan’s rep is being somewhat truthful. Her weight loss probably isn’t due entirely to Red Bull and cigarettes. You have to factor in the cocaine, too. Red Bull can’t get you down to skin and bones like that. You need the cocaine to get rid of your muscle mass. How else can you make your legs look like those of a prepubescent? Cocaine, that’s the ticket.

Jessica Alba doesn’t let her family eat white foods

fp_2055250_jessica_alba_and_little_honor_play_in_the_park__

Women often have to get pretty hardcore to lose weight after having a baby. And the pressure for celebrities is even greater: they’re expected to drop the pounds in record time. Jessica Alba employed a fairly common weight loss strategy after giving birth to daughter Honor nine months ago. She banned all white food from her diet.

But apparently Jessica has a hard time sticking to the rule if anyone else is allowed to eat so much as a piece of bread. Not only does she refuse to let her husband eat white foods, she’s even barred her mother from enjoying them in her presence.

Jessica Alba keeps her post-baby body slim by avoiding processed foods — and implementing a “white no bite” diet, meaning she eats no white flour or sugar, reports Life & Style.

Alba, who quickly shed the 35 to 40 pounds she gained while pregnant with daughter Honor Marie, now 9 months, is making her whole family follow her strict diet.

“In order for her to stay thin, she needs everyone to be eating how she is,” an insider told Life & Style. “Even at restaurants, Jess will tell her mom to stay away from something.”

[From MSNBC’s The Scoop]

It seems a little of out of line to tell your mother what she can eat in your presence. Or anyone, really. It’s one thing not to keep or serve foods you can’t eat when you’re in your own home. The constant temptation can be too much to handle for some people. But to tell your mom she can’t order what she wants at a restaurant? That’s a bit extreme.

I’m a constant dieter so I completely understand how hard it is to be around the foods you can’t eat. But I tend to remove myself from the situation – like not go out to eat at restaurants and do something else with the person. It’s so unfair to say “I can’t eat this so you can’t either.” I will admit Jessica looks amazing… though I’m guessing she probably eats a lot of meals alone.

Star Jones tells Oprah she was a food addict; doc said she’d die

star jones 300109

Star Jones appears on Oprah today in an episode about losing weight in the public eye. From the advance clips she actually comes off as somewhat humble and less self-involved than she was before she was axed from The View.

Star says she had gastric bypass surgery in 2006 not to take an easy way out – it wasn’t – but because her weight was so drastically affecting her health that her doctor told her she was going to die. Jones says she was - for all intents and purposes – an addict, and despite the consequences to her health, she simply could not stop eating.

Star Jones — whose rapid weight loss played into her rocky exit from “The View” in 2006 — denies she took an easy way out having gastric bypass surgery and without the changes, Jones was told she would have died.

“I’m still 300 pounds in my head some days,” Jones told Oprah Winfrey in a taped episode airing Wednesday. Jones admitted she was scared to disappoint people and ashamed that she wasn’t able to control her weight.

“… I was an addict for all practical purposes, that I had never stuck to a real diet, that I’d never stuck to a real exercise program, and that when confronted by my doctor and the doctor said if you don’t make changes, you will die. I had no choice.” Jones said. “When you hear people say, oh, you took the easy way out, I would have longed for an easy way. It was not an easy way. It was this — the hardest struggle of my whole entire life and I still struggle.”

Jones responded to remarks by former co-host Barbara Walters that after the surgery, the show’s audience couldn’t relate to Jones anymore.

“I was hurt and upset initially,” Jones said. “I’m so sorry that I placed a burden on my colleagues. I never asked them to lie.”

[From the Chicago Sun-Times]

I’ve always been sort of confused by the accusation that people who get gastric bypass or gastric band surgery are taking the easy way out. It seems like a pretty extreme, hardcore, and painful way to go about it. I’d rather do a million diets than have to go that route. To me it’s what people do as an absolute last resort – whether it’s because they can’t otherwise control a food addiction, are suffering from diabetes (it has a high instance of reversing the disease even before significant weight loss is achieved), or simply have bodies that are resistant to weight loss. And the side effects sound really miserable, and they can be permanent.

I think the reason The View’s audience couldn’t relate to Star after her surgery wasn’t that she was thin; it was how obnoxious she was. She already came across as self-absorbed and full of herself at times (the whole fiasco about her constantly using the show to promote her wedding didn’t win her any fans), and the weight loss appeared to magnify those personality traits in her. Getting fired from the show did seem to humble Star, and when she admitted to the surgery she became a little less disliked in the public eye.

It’s time for Star to become something other than “the lady who got weight loss surgery and was fired from The View.” Her CourtTV show was canceled, and it doesn’t seem like she’s been up to much since then. Dragging up tired feuds is getting old.

Seth Rogen explains weight loss: ‘It’s called bulimia’
The Daily Show With Jon Stewart M - Th 11p / 10c
Seth Rogen
comedycentral.com
Daily Show Full Episodes Economic Crisis Political Humor

A svelte-looking Seth Rogen was on The Daily Show last night to promote his films Monsters vs. Aliens and the upcoming Observe and Report, out April 10.

Stewart initially complimented Rogen’s weight loss, and he jokingly explained it by saying “It’s called bulimia, John, and it’s amazing. You eat whatever you want and you just vomit it up afterwards. That way you get all the flavors of delicious food and none of the negative side effects, besides all my teeth are fake. But other than that it works great. I recommend it to everyone.”

Rogen shouldn’t joke so casually about bulimia as it’s a serious problem for countless people. He explained later “I just started exercising and eating better, I must have really been in bad shape. Your producer was like ‘wow, it must be really great to do things like walk up stairs and stuff.’ I could walk up stairs before.”

There are rumors that Rogen lost the weight so quickly by snorting the white stuff. He freely admits to smoking pot, I heard him talking to Terry Gross on NPR about it, and that may be how the rumor got started that he dropped pounds with cocaine. I would give him the benefit of the doubt, though. There’s a lot of pressure in Hollywood to be thin and although people go to extreme unhealthy measures like drug use and eating disorders there are plenty of actors and actresses who lose it the old fashioned way, which isn’t necessarily harder. It sounds a lot harder to me to puke up everything you eat or get jacked up on cocaine so you can’t sleep.

What happened to Scarlett Johansson’s beautiful curves?
Moet & Chandon: A Tribute To Cinema - Arrivals

Scarlett Johansson has lost a ton of weight recently – most noticeably in her formerly ample bosom. But it’s obvious all over, and was completely unnecessary. Scarlett looked amazing and generally made every jaw drop when she walked into a room. So why the drastic change? No explanation for the why, but Page Six has some information on the how.

SAY it ain’t so, ScarJo! Sultry Scarlett Johansson is getting rid of her famous curves. Eyes popped Tuesday night at Moet & Chandon’s “Tribute to Film” soiree at London’s Big Sky Studios when the “very slim” actress, who’s married to Ryan Reynolds, strutted in wearing a tight, black minidress. “She was talking to Thandie Newton about the rigid diet she’s on,” our spy said of the star of the upcoming “Iron Man 2.” Joseph Fiennes, Eva Herzigova and Marc Newson were all there and ogling Johansson, who “was really working it,” according to our snitch.

[From Page Six]

So is this rigid diet possibly for the upcoming “Iron Man 2?” All the articles seem to be praising Scarlett for her new look. Am I the only one upset with the change?

The starlet does seem streamlined.

Perhaps the actress is prepping for a film role. Maybe she’s tired of people talking about “The Johanssons.” But the sudden weight loss does make one wonder whether Johansson has changed her opinion about America being “obsessed with dieting rather than focusing on eating well, exercising and living a healthy life.”

Particularly if one is insane with jealousy at Johansson’s frankly elegant new look.

[From Defamer]

The pictures on Defamer (link above) show the most dramatic difference in Scarlett’s physique. Personally I think she looked a hell of a lot more elegant before. Now she just looks like every other woman in Hollywood. At least from the neck down. But I think the weight loss even took a tiny bit of character from her face. I’m disappointed that she caved in to the American “diet obsession” as she put it. I never heard anyone call her fat or imply she needed to lose weight. Scarlett was absolutely height weight proportionate. She’s still beautiful, but somehow I now find her a little lacking and a little boring.

Seth Rogen thinks he sold out his ‘chubby’ fanbase

showest ceremony 140308
When Seth Rogen signed on to play the Green Hornet, he knew he would have to tone up his somewhat chubby, stoner body. Like so many men, his svelte transformation seemed to happen overnight. Sidenote: why can men lose weight with such ease while women struggle with this endless dieting and working out all of their lives? Anyway, Seth’s thinner, more athletic body wasn’t all good for him. He got the role he wanted, but he lost some of his fanbase.

Seth claims that strangers come up to him to compliment his new body, but some people are peeved. Seth believes he was some sort of icon for chubby guys, which is probably the truth. A lot of guys wished they had a body like Gerard Butler in 300, but a lot of guys know they resemble Seth Rogen in Pineapple Express. PR-Inside has more:

Actor Seth Rogen is struggling to accept his newly svelte figure - because he’s let down the legions of chubby men who looked up to him.

The funnyman slimmed down to star in forthcoming comic book move The Green Hornet, and has to cope with strangers approaching him about his weight loss.

And Rogen admits not all of the comments are complimentary.

He says, “That’s the weird thing about losing weight, strangers (compliment) you. It does (make me uncomfortable) a little but I don’t know them…”

“I think for chubby guys, I was their guy so they were like, ‘I can be chubby. Seth Rogen’s chubby, so who cares.’ But now I’m not so chubby anymore. So now they’re like, ‘I have to lose weight.’ I’ve let them down. I’ve blatantly sold out. It’s only for money.”

From PR-Inside

At least Seth owns it. I love that he says “it’s only for the money.” Perhaps after his gotten all of the “svelte” roles out of his system, he’ll go back to being everybody’s favorite chubby stoner.

I’ve mentioned it before, but I really don’t mind chubby guys. I prefer a guy who isn’t always working out or watching his carbs or preening in the mirror. While Seth Rogen in any form isn’t my ideal guy, I bet he wouldn’t mind if you ordered dessert on a date.

Note by Celebitchy: Here’s Seth Rogan with scruff on 3/5/09 and with a full beard and looking like he gained a little weight back on 3/22/09. Maybe he’s more comfortable that way. Credit: WENN.com

Robert Downey Jr. lost weight to make Chris Martin happy

fp_1872512_sherlock_holmes_set_nyc_020409

The GOOP has gotten to Robert Downey Jr! Noooo! In truth, it was the GOOP’s husband, Chris Martin that got to Robert. Chris Martin is some kind of Sherlock Holmes-obsessive, and had very specific ideas about what Sherlock Holmes should look like in the upcoming Guy Ritchie-directing Sherlock Holmes film. Downey is playing the famous detective, and after Gwyneth the GOOP introduced her husband to Downey, her Iron Man co-star, Martin shared his thoughts on Sherlock Holmes.

Martin told Downey that Sherlock Holmes is supposed to be very thin. This is true. My father is also a devotee of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, and I read several Sherlock Holmes mysteries in my youth. Sherlock is not only very thin, he’s very tall, and throughout the books, Sherlock would smoke opium and snort cocaine. Let’s hope that Chris Martin didn’t bring up that stuff with recovering drug addict Downey. Downey might be a method actor; I would be worried.

The crux of the story is that Chris Martin told Robert Downey that he had to go on diet if he wanted to make a good Holmes. Downey had bulked up for Tropic Thunder, so he ended up going through a pretty rigorous diet to play the detective.

Robert Downey Jr. is dieting to please his friend Chris Martin.

The actor - who became friends with the Coldplay frontman after starring in ‘Iron Man’ with Chris’ wife Gwyneth Paltrow - has been shedding pounds in preparation for his title role in the upcoming movie ‘Sherlock Holmes’. He made the decision to slim down following pressure from Chris, who is a big fan of the Arthur Conan Doyle detective stories.

Robert said: “He’s a huge Sherlock Holmes fan. He said to me before we began, ‘You’ve got to be gaunt. You’ve got to be a skinny as you possibly can to play Holmes.’ So every time I’m reaching for a muffin I just think about Chris Martin and skip the snack. It’s been tough.”

Robert, 43, needed to slim down after bulking up for his role in action movie ‘Tropic Thunder’.

He said: “All I did was eat cheeseburgers and smoke Camels for three months. You’ve got to be in good shape to make it through that.”

“I do tons of weightlifting and martial arts anyway, so I stepped up my Wing Chun Kung Fu. I like staying in shape for a movie. Normally you pay for personal trainers, so it’s great when you can keep fit at someone else’s expense. I run a lot of miles and eat a lot of Wheaties cereal.”

[From My Park Mag]

I’ve heard Robert Downey talk about the martial arts stuff before - he’s really into it. I believe he started with it after the last intensive rehabilitation that seems to have stuck. All in all, he is kind of a weird choice for Sherlock Holmes. Downey’s a great actor and incredibly gifted, for sure, but he’s so American, and his sensibilities just seem so modern. Maybe it’s just me though. Back in the 1930s and ‘40s, the great English actor Basil Rathbone played Sherlock Holmes to great effect - he was tall, dapper, thin and snooty - totally believable.

Here’s Robert Downey Jr. on the last day of filming on the NY set of ‘Sherlock Holmes’ on February 4th. Images thanks to BauerGriffinOnline.

Lindsay Lohan claims she’s stressed from all the meetings for movie roles

Lindsay Lohan has been working the “I’ve gotten really thin from too much stress not too much cocaine” angle for the better part of the last week. And apparently Lohan thinks people are buying it, because that’s still the line she’s feeding reporters. Last night she partied it up with Samantha Ronson at an Oscar party for Sean Penn. And when she was asked by a reporter about her weight loss, she gave the same old stress line. But the best part was the reason for her stress: too many meetings over movie roles.

Lindsay Lohan is still eating…she’s just stressed out. “I haven’t changed my eating habits,” she said at the Mercedes-Benz Oscar party at the Montage Beverly Hills, where she was excited for Sean Penn’s big win. So has she upped her gym routine?

“I go to yoga once a week, but I don’t go more than that because I’m too lazy,” Linds said, adding that her recent weight loss is probably due to stress.
So what’s she stressing about?

“A lot of meetings for movies and stuff,” she explained. While we haven’t heard of any new movie castings for LiLo, she has a few other non-cinematic projects in the works, including a self-tanning line for Sephora and a diamond jewelry line.

[From E! News]

Linds still seems to be persona non grata in Hollywood. I doubt she could get a meeting with anyone more important than the valet at most of the film studios. The look on her face is priceless when the reporter starts asking her about her weight. Lindsay looks down, and her eyebrows – which already appeared too thick, dark, and mean – furrow while she looks really pissed for a half a second. Then she gives her tried and true excuse.

I’m sure that making a spray tan line can really be stressful. It’s got to be hard to figure out what shade of carrot looks best on different skin tones. And then balancing that with her jewelry line (there’s a really dull explanation in the video about how a diamond is not a stone… or something), and her demanding film schedule… well I’d drop fifteen pounds too. I’m sure it has nothing to do with drugs – after all, Lindsay did refuse a glass of champagne. Which is good – with such stressful career demands, she wouldn’t want a hangover.

Here’s Lindsay in Los Angeles on Friday. Images thanks to WENN.

Lindsay Lohan might be cutting again, still underweight

Lindsay Lohan shocked onlookers with her weight loss as she shop

Lindsay Lohan has unfortunately stumbled upon the one thing that can garner even more attention than her relationship with Samantha Ronson: her weight. Lohan has been looking scary skinny for at least a month, and recent shots of her show she hasn’t put on a single pound. The general belief is that she’s stressed out over how things are going with Samantha. In fact her friends claim she’s cutting herself again.

We know that things haven’t been a bed of roses lately for Lindsay Lohan and girlfriend Samantha Ronson.

The pair have had a series of full-blown rows and their chums are worried that the stress could be getting to LiLo - after they spotted mysterious scratch marks all over her arm.

A friend said: “The marks looked really red and sore.

“She tried to hide them under a long-sleeved shirt but when she lifted up her arm to show someone a picture on her mobile phone you could see the lines on her arm.”

Hopefully it was nothing more than a fight with a fiery moggy. And she seemed fine when she popped to the shops later with her mum… wearing her undies over her tights.

[From the Mirror via Gossip Rocks]

I couldn’t find any recent photos of Lohan that show cutting scars. In the most current batch of skinny pics, she has her arms inward towards her body or she’s wearing a long-sleeved top. Both of which could be an attempt to hide any evidence of self-harm. What Lohan’s not hiding is how frighteningly thin she is. Of course, her PR team says everything is just fine. Lindsay even eat two whole meals!

LINDSAY Lohan looks teeny-tiny in recent photos, but her rep insists she’s not heading back to her scary- skinny period. Responding to rumors we heard that Lohan is “surviving on candy and Red Bull” and “completely stressed out” by her rocky relationship with Samantha Ronson, her flack insisted she’s fine: “Lindsay is aware that she’s lost some weight due to stress, but we recently did a photo shoot and she ate two full meals.”

[From Page Six]

What a valiant attempt to make it sound like Lindsay is healthy. Was her “flak” hung-over or something at the time? She put no effort into coming up with even a tiny bit of an excuse, explanation, or any of the other things PR people are supposed to spew out of their mouths. If Lindsay had a normal family I would hope that someone would be working on getting her help as soon as possible. Unfortunately she doesn’t, which makes me really worry about how bad this will need to get before someone will step in and do something.

Here’s Lohan on Sunday, where she shocked onlookers with her weight loss as she shopped for shoes with her mother and sister in New York. Images thanks to Splash.

Jennifer Connelly’s weight loss explained

wenn5218957
Jennifer Connelly just lost a whole bunch of weight, which had some sources speculating that she was unwell, losing weight for her scary Balenciaga campaign, or competing with her He’s Just Not That Into You co-star Jennifer Aniston.

Her husband, Paul Bettany, felt compelled to reveal yesterday that the weight loss was because of grief.

Jennifer Connelly is undoubtedly one of the most gorgeous actresses in Hollywood. But lately, recent reports have focused on Connelly’s sudden weight loss, which have people wondering if the He’s Just Not That Into You star is okay.

At Monday’s 20th Annual Palm Springs International Film Festival, Connelly’s husband, British actor Paul Bettany, finally addressed the weight loss rumors.

“I will tell you… My wife just lost her father,” he explained to OK!.

OK! Magazine

Jennifer lost her father Gerard in September.

Paul Bettany obviously felt the need to defend his wife’s weight loss, which is a bit sad in a way. I guess we can sometimes look at Hollywood stars and think they have these wonderful glamorous lives that aren’t touched by the same tragedies as ours. But the sudden loss of Jett Travolta this week, or Jennifer’s father Gerard, kind of shows us that everyone, no matter how wealthy, famous or intelligent, still lives through the same basic human experience we all do.

Jennifer and her husband Paul are working together on the film Creation, about Charles Darwin. She can be seen currently in The Day the Earth Stood Still, and He’s Just Not That Into You.
