Madonna is immune to your criticism, child safety laws

Madonna was seen riding in the backseat of her own gas-guzzling SUV with her little adopted infant Davie Banda in her lap - and not in a carseat, not once but on two separate occasions. She didn’t really pull a Britney in that she wasn’t actually driving the car, but this is spiltting hairs since it’s still very illegal and very dangerous:

The 48-year-old and husband GUY RITCHIE loaded their three children into their Escalade after 2 March (07) services at the Kabbalah Centre in Los Angeles, but baby David was not properly restrained. A witness tells American publication Us Weekly, “There was no car seat. (Madonna) sat in the middle row, and they left with David on her lap.” The following day (03MAR07), Madonna allegedly defied the law by once again by sitting in the middle of the vehicle with six-year-old son ROCCO not properly secured. A representative for the singer slams the claims, saying, “Proper security measures are always taken for Madonna’s children.”

Despite Madonna’s PR flack’s claims, there are pictures of her riding with Davie on her lap. As the mother of a toddler, I have to say that’s f’ing ridiculous that she would do that. My son has ridden in childless aunts and uncle’s cars when we’re visiting and they always manage to find carseats to borrow from friends or neighbors - and we’re not rich, and we don’t have people at our beck and call who can go fetch carseats for us while we’re practicing cult worship for hours.

Madonna apparently thinks the child she snatched from its destitute family is not precious enough to protect, or maybe she’s just so full of herself and out of touch with reality that she believes Davie is safe in her skinny lap in that giant SUV she’s riding in.

I checked British carseat rules and it looks like they changed the law in September 2006 to make booster seats compulsory for all children from 3 to 12 or up to a certain height. I would suspect that car seats for infants up to three were mandated by law before that, but I couldn’t find out much about it.

Regardless it’s the law in England and in the states where Madonna so happily set her baby down on her lap two times. She’s probably been doing it since she adopted him and just hasn’t been caught yet.

A former nanny of Madonnas is shopping a tell-all book about the Pilates-loving control freak’s household. There’s no word what it contains, but the 80 page proposal sounds juicy and it looks like the nanny already has a literary agent. Can’t wait for that.

“The Angelina Jolie Hands-Free Multiple Child Carrier” Links

I know it’s at the top of the page, but there are a lot of fellow gossip sites that are still down, and our webhosts are handling it very poorly. Some were up for a while and are down again now like Hollywood Tuna and In Case You Didn’t Know. Others have been offline for nearly two days like Bastardly and CelebSlam and we would be in that boat too if it weren’t for this test install the developer was working on.

Update: Celebslam is back up and has the best explanation of what happened.

Oh and I’m Not Obsessed got a huge spot on Good Morning America - on the morning her site went down.

K-Fed wants to be super dad for new reality show

I knew K-Fed’s recent image change to good dad was too good to be true. In early December the producer for House of Carters confirmed that K-Fed was looking for a reality show that would make him look good, and now he’s jumping on the chance to be portrayed as a well-meaning bumbling dad to two toddlers. Either he’s capitalizing on his recent situation with Britney in rehab or it’s all working out according to his master plan:

Federline, 28, is hawking a reality show that focuses on his life as a single dad and estranged husband of an out-of-control pop star.

“Kevin is ready for his second ‘15 minutes of fame,’” a source tells The ENQUIRER. “This time he wants to focus the cameras on his personal life as he assumes responsibility for his two sons. And he’s not wasting any time getting the spotlight back on himself while Britney is occupied taking care of her substance abuse problems.”

Unfortunately, I know I would watch at least one episode to see what it’s like, and K-Fed must be trying to cash in on this while he still has a chance. As long as Britney remains a f’up, he’s still has the goodwill of the public.

And the latest Britney rehab rumor has her believing she doesn’t really need the place and just suffers from postpartum depression. Supposedly her whole family is worried she’ll bolt any day now. Since she left twice already, that’s not so much of a stretch.

Regular site back up again

Our old site is up again after a day down on Thursday and a day on the test platform on Friday. We would have been offline until Friday night if we didn’t move over to the new site, thanks to the tireless help of Phin from Apothegm Designs. I have not imported your comments from the other temporary site to this one yet, but I will do so today and nothing has been lost. They might all appear as a single long comment in each post by me with your names following each line as I think I have to cut and paste them in.

I’m sure you know what happened by now, and the other bloggers have been pretty clever about explaining it. Here are explanations from some other sites affected by the outage. Since we all used the same hosting company, we were all screwed:

- Bastardly
- Celebslam
- In Case You Didn’t Know

Also thanks to Mollygood and CityRag for running stories about this gossip blog outage, and to you guys for hanging in there with us.

We’ll be spiffing up the version of the site you saw earlier and moving over to that software platform within a couple of weeks. We hope to have some more features for you like a forum, and optional user registration where you can add an icon that will appear next to your comments.

Header image is from Computer History Images and is of The IBM 360 mainframe that came out in 1964. I don’t understand all the specs but I would bet our cell phones are more powerful. Maybe some of the more technically knowledgable readers can break it down for me. I geeked out a little bit looking it up.

Update: Love and thanks to CelebWarship and Evil Beet for also covering this gossip blog disaster.

Angelina Jolie deeply affected by her work with refugees

In a new interview with Newsweek, Angelina Jolie comes off as thoughtful, caring, and deeply moved by her over six years of work as a goodwill ambassador for the UN High Commissioner for Refugees. She says as her film schedule brought her to places where refugees were suffering like Cambodia she started to learn about the dire situations that people were in and wanted to help however she could.

Angelina approached the UN herself and said that they were a bit incredulous at first, but gave her a chance to help. She she didn’t want pictures taken of her work with refugees and that it took her a while to allow photographers to come with her. She usually travels alone to the field with just a photographer.

This interview was pretty moving to me, and includes a very touching photograph of Angelina holding a 7 year-old boy tied to a tree. He was just three when he went missing in Dafur for two days while his village was bombed, and was never the same since. He now lives with his mother and four siblings in a refugee camp in Chad. His mother keeps him tied up so that he won’t run away or hurt himself.

Angelina said that there are always people who will criticize her, but that her work speaks for itself and she can’t let negative opinions keep her from helping people:

When did it occur to you that you could do something about this directly? Did people approach you or —
I approached them. I think they thought I was a little crazy.

When was this?
Six years ago. I was very nervous to call the U.N. agency at the time. I [was] considered a rebel in Hollywood. At the time I was also a bit of the wild child. So first I went to Washington [to the UNHCR office] and I sat with everybody there and said, “You know, I know you don’t know me. You might have heard things about me… And I don’t want to bring negative attention to your agency. If you could just help me, I’ll pay my way.”

I spent the next year and a half going to, first, two camps in Africa, and then Pakistan and Cambodia. And with no cameras and with no press and had the opportunity to have this great education before I spoke at all…. I was transformed in such an amazing way.

But you do have photographers following you now.
It took me a while to agree to do it. I guess I saw that so many times the picture comes before the knowledge and the substance and I certainly didn’t want to do that to myself or the organization. And also, I really just was shy. I was shy about sitting on the floor and talking to a woman and having a camera take a picture because I thought it was making less of my conversation with her. But… I was changed by the faces of the people I saw. “It is something that I am incapable of describing…those faces and that place and those people. And so I think it’s just—let the people speak for themselves through the camera. And if I can draw you in a little because I’m familiar, then that’s great. Because I know that at the end you’re not looking at me, you’re looking at them.

I think it’s fair to say people start out by looking at you, Angelina.
As long as they end up looking at them, that’s the point.

Do you worry about people who say this is celebrity tourism?
I don’t know if anybody saying that has spent the last six years of their life going to over 30 camps and really spending time with these people. I can’t care. At the end of the day, I’m sure a lot of criticism could keep a lot of people from doing this kind of work…

If someone had a direct criticism of my opinion on the issue, if someone had a direct criticism of the image shown because they think it hurts somebody then I will take that into consideration. But there are a lot of people that simply have an immediate gut reaction and they just don’t want to combine artists with foreign policy. And hey, I understand. I get it. I know where you’re coming from. And to each his own. … You know, I was more shy when I first went into a camp that other field officers would not want me there.

You were worried that you’d get in the way.
Yeah. That’s why I brought no media, it’s why I sat back. That’s why I just helped them load things. And if I felt that I was ever getting in the way, I wouldn’t do it. Because I do care about the opinion of the aid worker, I do care about the opinion of the refugee. I care less about the opinion of the person who’s never been in the field but has an opinion about celebrity.

Do you still go with so few people? I can’t believe you take no one with you…
I take no one. I [go] by myself on a commercial plane and into the field with my backpack….

When you got there, what were the people saying about their situation? There are several photographs with this boy tied to a tent pole, and there’s also another photograph of a group of women near some tents, and one of them has her ankles chained.
The first time I saw that in the camp [it was] obviously really shocking. They are people who are traumatized by the bombing [by Sudanese government forces attacking villages in Darfur] and by war. The old woman may have had some dementia before. The reality is there are one or two aid workers for every 2,000 refugees. The same with the doctors, the therapists. The basic need there [is] to just try to keep these people safe. To keep the tents up in all the sand storms, try to get the food distributed and basic health-care needs. The [chained] woman started to beat her daughter with anything she could find. She kept hearing voices of the people yelling at her. So she feels constantly under attack. I’m no therapist, so I don’t understand all the details. But when I did try to talk to her, she seemed pretty rational. But then she started aggressively telling me that I had to stop them from putting snakes on her. And for the people to stop yelling at her and for the bombs to stop dropping.

And the little boy?
The little boy was a normal 3-year-old [now 7] who disappeared for 48 hours after [his village was bombed]. I can only imagine what he saw. Sure he saw death. And when found, he was found in a state…

As a first reaction you want to remove [the rope]. But the mother, she has four other kids, she’s by herself. Therapists visit him, but if [he's] left alone he will disappear or bang himself. I talked to him for like half an hour and just kind of looked at him for a long time before he touched me and there was a little boy in there who was open to a kind sound.… There’s a normal little kid right there, but he’s got a look of fear. He’s nervous to touch. And you can feel that need for safety. The mother unfortunately can’t not go work for the other children and can’t sit with him all day long and hold him, which is probably what would do some good. But what he needs is probably some serious therapy. [There are] lots of children like him there. Lots of victims of war. [It's a] whole other thing that you usually don’t get to address because they have to be so focused on the basic needs of survival. These are the many other casualties of the kind of war that is happening in Darfur.

Angelina said she was distraught when faced with so much suffering, and that she finds it overwhelming at times. She said “The first two years I cried constantly like a woman does,” when the interviewer asked her about it.

She also said she loves it in her new hometown of New Orleans, and that it’s a great place for her children, but that much work remains to be done post Katrina.

To me, this interview is in contrast with her pre-pregnancy talk with Ann Curry. As rude as it sounds, I wasn’t too blown away by her Dateline Interview before she had Shiloh and she came off as a bit insincere to me at the time. It was likely that she was just defensive over all the speculation around her upcoming birth.

I was skeptical of her due to the contrast of her extreme wealth and the entire hotel she booked up in Namibia with the povery-striken people she posed with. There also were a lot of stories at the time about her heavy-handed security staff and head bodyguard Micket Brett beating the shit out of people and threatening their lives.

Her security goons continued their rough ways while she was filming in India, and after a highly-publicized incident at a school where anxious parents were threatened and racists insults may have been used, she seems to have pulled in the reins and to have put a stop to their thuggish tactics.

Now that Angelina’s security staff has calmed down and she’s been seen out at events and walking in New Orleans with her children and Brad, it seems like public opinion is favoring her again. After reading this article, I’m reminded that she’s only human and was motivated by a desire to protect her family. She does so much more for charity than most celebrities, and it seems that she also wants to protect the fragile people she truly seems to care about.

You can help refugees by giving to the charity Angelina mentions in her interview, SOS Kinderdorp.

Thanks to Oh No They Didn’t and Soulie Jolie for the pictures and story.

Gisele Bundchen and Tom Brady put a nursery in their new home

There’s a story in this week’s Enquirer that Gisele Bundchen and Tom Brady are buying a new home together in New York and are building a nursery so that Tom’s new baby-to-be with his ex, Bridget Moynahan, will have a place to stay when visiting. Is that really why they’re building a nursery?

The couple [Tom Brady and Gisele Bundchen] is buying a house in New York and building a nursery in it - but not because they plan to have children soon.

They need a nursery for the baby that the New England Patriots quarterback is expecting with his previous girlfriend, Bridget Moynahan.

Bridget is expecting Tom’s baby in midsummer, and Gisele apparently has no problem with that…

Said a source close to the couple: “Gisels has been living in a penthouse triplex in downtown Manhattan, where her new neighbors complain about the noise her dogs make.

“When Tom’s baby arrives, it would only get worse. So she’s looking for a place where they can all be a happy family.”

[From The National Enquirer print edition, March 19, 2007]

There was a rumor last week that Gisele was also newly pregnant with Tom Brady’s Superbowl sperm. The source is a Brazilian gossip column, so we’ll have to wait and see if it’s true.

If Gisele is pregnant, that would provide another motivation for building the nursery. Given the fact that everyone seems to be getting along adequately, the little half-siblings are probably going to grow up together in this gorgeous blended family.

Here are some far away pictures of Gisele and Tom at a Dolce and Gabbana party in Milan on 2/22. She doesn’t look pregnant, but she’s wearing a jacket so it’s hard to tell. There is also one picture from a Gisele photoshoot.

Daniel Smith’s autopsy was faked, actual results point to murder or suicide

An explosive new story in The National Enquirer claims that the toxicology reports from the Bahamanian government in the death of Anna Nicole Smith’s 20 year-old son, Daniel, showed ten times the amount of the heroin substitute methadone in his body than was actually claimed. They say that someone conspired to fake the results in both the reports the Bahamian coroner’s office. They say that the conclusion by the independent medical examiner hired by Anna, which was presumably based on those falsified toxicology studies, is not accurate.

If this is true, it means that Daniel did not die of a lethal drug combination as was determined, and was either murdered or committed suicide with a massive dose of methadone. It is expected that this shocking news will lead investigators to ask for both Daniel and Anna’s bodies to be exhumed for further testing:

There is shocking new evidence showing that the postmortem test findings [on Daniel] are a fraud, insiders say, as the official Bahamian inquest begins into the mysterious death of the tragedy-plagued 20-year-old.

Doctors will testify at the Bahamas inquest that the troubled young man had so much methadone in his body - up to 10 times the previous reported levels - that his death couldn’t have been an accident, the Enquirer has learned exclusively.

But a private toxicology study done by forensic pathologist Dr. Cyril Wecht, who was hired by Anna Nicole, indicates Daniel died of a combination of methadone, Lexapro and Zoloft. The methadone levels alone were not deadly.

Because of the wild difference in test results, Bahamian insiders now believe that the island government’s autopy results have been faked - an act of sabotage by unknown entities behind the backs of Nassau pathologists to obscure the facts and create confusion.

And as a result, both Daniel’s body and his mother’s will likely be exhumed for further testing, say sources.

“Doctors who’ve learned about Bahamian toxicology testing on Daniel believe his death couldn’t possibly have been an accident - the only possibilities are suicide or murder,” a source close to the investigation told The Enquirer.

[From The National Enquirer print edition, March 19, 2007]

If Daniel was murdered, it would certainly explain why Anna was overheard yelling “You did this!” to Howard K Stern in her maternity room at the hospital before staff was summoned to her nonresponsive son.

The pathologist that Anna hired to do an “independent” examination of her son’s body is the same guy that claimed right after she died that he was sure her death wasn’t drug related, even though he had personally not examined her or reviewed the results of post mortem tests. I would not be surprised if he was caught lying about his findings, but if the Bahamian coroner’s office was involved heads are going to roll.

Anna was screwing the immigration minister who fast-tracked her application for residency, and there was a story that she also greased the wheels with bribes to the government. Someone was probably open to some quick cash in exchange for fudging the numbers on Daniel’s lab reports.

The National Enquirer is like a gossiping alcoholic chain-smoking great aunt. It’s easy to dismiss what she’s saying because she talks constantly and seems pretty wasted, but you realize later that the old bird’s ramblings were spot on. The Enquirer built their tenuous reputation with scoops in the O.J. Simpson case that were well ahead of the mainstream media. I don’t doubt this latest story that Daniel’s autopsy results were faked, because it seems probable and there are more sensational angles to exploit in the Anna Nicole case.

The Bahamian inquest into Daniel’s death is set to start on March 27, and authorities are more than interested in the fact that both Daniel and his mother died under similar circumstances within a few months.

Someone needs to get that baby Dannielynn away from Howard K Stern immediately. There are rumors that he’s negotiating with the maybe real-father Larry Birkhead to hand over custody before the DNA results are out, and I hope for the baby’s sake that happens quickly. I wouldn’t be surprised if he commits suicide soon. (Although I do not wish death on anyone of course.) I bet he has plenty of things to feel guilty about and doesn’t have the nerve to sit through a trial that will expose his maniacal scheme to get his hands on Anna’s expected 1/2 billion inheritance.

Anna Nicole told a friend to take her computer if “something ever happens”

Anna Nicole Smith gave a friend, the son of the guy who owned her squatter mansion in the Bahamas, the password for her laptop computer and told him to make sure to retrieve her computer and diary if “something ever happens… and if Howard is not around.” The guy followed her instructions and got her stuff after her untimely death, and this seems to have been the “robbery” by the rightful owners of the mansion that Howard K. Stern reported. Anna’s friend has turned over all of her things to the Seminole authorities investigating her death. (Anna died in Broward county, Florida, but she was on Seminole property, which is a sovereign nation with its own laws.)

A friend of Anna Nicole Smith who said she asked him to secure her belongings if “something ever happens” to her, turned them over to authorities in South Carolina because he feared her death was drug-related and a crime, the man’s attorney said Friday.

The friend, Ford Shelley, who lives in Myrtle Beach, S.C., wants prosecutors to determine if Smith’s computer equipment offers any evidence of a crime, Shelley’s Fort Lauderdale attorney, Walter “Skip” Campbell, said Friday.

“He has concerns . . . that something might have occurred that led to the death of Ms. Smith,” Campbell said. “He had some evidence and he wants it looked at by the authorities.”

On Feb. 22, Shelley testified in Broward Circuit Court that Smith entrusted him with protecting her personal belongings.

“She looked at me and said, `Ford, if something ever happens to me, and Howard is not around, take the computers and passports,’” Shelley said in court. “She gave me the password.”

The day after Smith died, Shelley went through the Bahamas home.

Shelley has said he found liquid methadone in a refrigerator in Smith’s bedroom, but left it behind.

He took two laptop computers, an external hard drive, eight or nine mini-videocassettes and documents and turned them over to the Horry County Sheriff’s Office in South Carolina on Feb. 13, Chief Deputy Paul Butler said Friday.

“He came in and said that she wanted to keep these items from falling into the wrong hands,” Butler said.

Horry County authorities turned the items over to the Seminole Police Department on Feb. 15 after talking with tribal police and Broward County homicide prosecutors. Campbell and authorities have declined to identify what the potential evidence is.

Campbell said law enforcement has not examined the contents of the computer equipment because of several legal issues:

Does law enforcement need a warrant to access the computer information?

What can be legally done with property surrendered to the Seminole Tribe, a sovereign nation not subject to Florida laws?

If the computer equipment contains evidence of a crime, Broward prosecutors want to be sure they follow the appropriate laws to ensure they could use it if criminal charges are filed.

Considering that Anna requested this favor, I would bet there’s some incriminating evidence somewhere. While I want to think that Howard killed her, and that her computer and diaries detailed her suspicions of his behavior before her death, the fact that she told her friend “if Howard is not around” suggests that she either trusted Howard - or that she was warning her friend Ford to only get her stuff when Howard was away.

The coroner in Broward County, who was expected to state the results of Anna’s Nicole Smith’s autopsy late last week, said he’s delaying an announcement on the cause of death due to new evidence that the sheriff has brought to light. He did not specify the evidence, but I would suspect that the computer and diary may be what he’s talking about.

There’s also a recent story from The National Enquirer that claims that Daniel’s autopsy results were fudged and that he had ten times the amount of methadone in his system than was reported, which indicates murder or suicide. (Now why would he kill himself after just meeting his baby sister?)

I predict an Enron-type suicide for Howard K. Stern within the next six weeks. The walls are caving in on this creep and he doesn’t have the wherewithal to stand trial, not to mention serve a life sentence for his sneaky crimes.

Then again, with all the twists in this case, maybe we’ll see another character emerge who plotted to kill the dugged-out former Playboy. It seems there were many people in Anna’s life that could have benefitted from her death, including a Native American guy who claims to have a five year old son by Anna. His evidence is compelling, but his prose is a little too blue to be convincing.

Britney’s longterm battle with bulimia

According to a new article in The National Enquirer, Britney has battled with the eating disorder bulimia all of her adult life. This is said to have come to light when she was caught making herself puke at the high end rehab, Promises, where she’s reluctantly staying at the insistence of her concerned family.

Britney is also said to be suffering from paranoid delusions, including the belief that she is being watched and recorded. The article claims she checks her room at rehab for listening devices and hidden cameras. Given how famous she is, I wouldn’t say this is just mental illness talking.

There was an earlier story in the Enquirer that Britney’s family was about to put her in a mental institution if she dropped out or wasn’t able to complete rehab, and they repeat those claims this week. They say Britney hasn’t come to terms with her problems and that she’s not ready to admit she’s an addict.

She was caught making herself throw up by one of the staff members and is said to confessed to having bulimia since she was 16. It’s also supposedly true that she wrote 666 on her head and tried to hang herself, which may have been due to not getting the bipolar medication she’s been taking. Oh and she does want K-Fed back:

“Britney has bulimia. She said she’s been throwing up her food since she was 16,” a source told the Enquirer.

“She’d pig out on junk food - chips, candy, Cokes, cookies and ice cream - and then feel so guilty that she’d make herself throw it up…

“The only thing that stopped her from throwing up her food was when she got pregnant the first time. But as soon as she delivered her son Sean Preston, she was back throwing up again to lose the baby weight.”

Britney’s bulimia continues after she checked into the rehab center Promises for a second time on Feb. 21, says the source, who adds that doctors there also diagnosed her with bipolar disorder and postpartum depression.

“Britney is on medication for bipolar disorder, but she’s been making herself throw up and the medication is not staying in her system like it needs to,” added an insider.

“As a result, Britney lose it entirely and tried to hang herself with her bed sheets.

“She’d written ‘666′ on her forehead because she thought she was posessed by the devil. Then she went into a group therapy session without a hat or wig… and sat down.”

“When the woman sitting next to her asked why she’d written ‘666′ on her forehead, Britney told her that she didn’t want to live anymore.

“Then she started screaming and ran back to her room, where she pulled the sheets off the bed. She was trying to tie a noose around her neck when staff members came into the room.

“She told them she wanted to kill herself.”

[From The National Enquirer print edition, March 19, 2007]

I didn’t believe that 666 suicide attempt story as it originated in a British gossip rag and seemed to be pure fabrication to me at the time. It could be true as there were ambulances seen outside of Promises that weekend according to the paparazzi that were crouched nearby waiting to catch Britney on a smoke break. This story makes it seem more likely, although it’s possible the Enquirer is just using that earlier report for the information and putting their own spin on it.

Indeed, a British paper has now picked up this Britney’s bulimic tale and added some dubious insider quotes to it.

Britney is also said to have called a psychic hotline for advice over her failed marriage to K-Fed. The psychic told her they would get back together.

Get well Britney. Bulimia is pretty serious, although you’ve got to cut the bullshit and get humble if you want sobriety.

Britney was seen skipping out early on an AA meeting (no permalink available) outside of rehab to hang out in her SUV and smoke cigarettes.

Here are pictures of pregnant Britney getting ice cream in early September of last year. Thanks to JustJared.

Antonella Barba says she’s going to try to have some sort of non-pr0n career

Catholic school graduate and college dropout Antonella Barba says she’s going to stay in LA for “a week or two” to see if she can quickly carve some sort of respectable career out of her failed American Idol bid. Barba should have realized that dirty personal pictures can work to your advantage if you’re careful about it, as is evidenced by Paris’ delicate balance between massive overexposure and do-nothing fame.

She claims she’s not going to take advantage of two very lucrative offers from different adult film companies. SugarDVD, which is like Netflix for porn, has offered her half a million to be their poster girl while Girls Gone Wild wants to pay a quarter million to have her host one of their drunken boob faux-lesbian makeout fests. She’s also not going to pose nude, despite the fact that we’ve already seen most of her.

It seems like she would be a natural to me, and who can turn down that kind of money for nothing? Barba can, and she wants you to know about it. That Catholic school guilt runs deep, but only deep enough to want to protect her public image, not the one all her friends and boyfriends know about.

Barba, 20, attended Roman Catholic grammar school in neighboring Point Pleasant Beach, and went to a Catholic high school in nearby Red Bank before enrolling in Catholic University in Washington, D.C., where she studied architecture.

She withdrew earlier this year to focus on the “Idol” competition, and has no plans to go back anytime soon.

“Right now, I’m going to stay in L.A. for a week or two,” she said. “I want to see what I can do with this for a career. I want to strike while the iron is hot.”

Barba, who played the violin as a youth and gave lessons to neighborhood children, said she would consider acting or modeling, but still wants a career in music above all else.

She said she will reject any prurient career offers that come her way. Nor, she added, would she pose nude, or in partial clothing, for any reason.

“That is not the way I want to present myself,” she said. “I keep getting told no publicity is bad publicity. Yes, it’s true my name is more well-known because of it. But I’m not known for the things I want to be known for. I’d rather present myself in a more classy way.”

Residents in Point Pleasant, a Jersey shore town of 18,000 about 60 miles north of Atlantic City, supported Barba when news of the photos threatened to overshadow her appearances on the show.

Signs sprouted around town wishing her well. By Friday morning, however, they were gone, replaced with messages advertising youth baseball sign-ups, and even the imminent arrival of spring.

She’s not going to be able to extend her fifteen minutes much longer. These “scandals” have a shelf life of up to two weeks, and hers is already getting sour. Maybe if she upped the ante a little bit by posing nude she could wheedle her way into the public’s long-term memory, but she’s already ruled that out.

Here are some pictures of Antonella I haven’t seen yet, from Gambling911.com.
