Prince William and Kate Middleton reconciled

A thousand would-be princesses are weeping today, after News of the World broke this story.

One source close to the couple said: “William is the one doing all the chasing and he is the one saying he wants to make it work.”

Wills snogged Kate in the middle of a crowded dancefloor before taking her back to his room in the early hours.

The steamy encounter came during a party at Wills’ Army barracks earlier this month.

It was one of several intimate dates the couple have shared in recent weeks.

But Kate is not sure she wants to restart their romance. And if she does agree to go back to him full-time, she would demand total commitment from William.

A friend of Kate’s said: “It’s such a nightmare because she knows if they do get back together, there will be no turning back. There will have to be an engagement and then marriage.”

The party, at barracks in Bovington, Dorset, on June 7, was thrown for troop leaders including Wills to celebrate finishing a gruelling course.

Personally, I don’t really believe this. People seem to think they made a perfect couple, but when you’re part of the Royal Family you tend to keep the formal announcement to yourself until things are pretty definitely split up. Maybe it’s Tina Brown trying to drum up more interest in her new book, although with the upcoming Diana concert and 10 year tributes, it hardly seems like anyone needs a reminder that there’s a whole heap of books out about her life and death.

Angeline Jolie Getting Oscar Buzz for “Mighty Heart”

The Hollywood Reporter says that Angelina Jolie’s role in “A Mighty Heart” is getting an Oscar buzz. Her role as Mariane Pearl, wife of slain journalist Daniel Pearl, has received good reviews, so it’s not a surprise that there is Oscar talk. In Friday’s edition of the Hollywood Reporter, the trade publication reports the follows stats on “A Mighty Heart”:

The documentary-like thriller rated a 74% positive rating on RottenTomatoes.com, but higher-end critics have been even more positive, with an 82% rating. Vantage isn’t being shy about using the “O” word: Print ads quote Ben Lyons of E! Entertainment proclaiming, “The early favorite for best picture at this year’s Oscars,” while TV ads also invoke its Oscar-worthiness.

In true White Trash fashion, I go back and forth on Angelina. I can’t decide if she’s a phony or if she’s actually the real deal. Pictures of her family are really sweet and from the outside looking in, it appears that the kids are happy.
Raising her brood with partner Brad Pitt
brings Angelina more attention than her acting.

It’s been a few years since Angelina has gotten media coverage for her acting work. You have to give her points for taking on the role, as the movie has gotten flack from Islamic groups for portraying Islamic terrorists in a bad light. I have not seen “Mighty Heart” opting to enjoy the usual shallow movie buffet of blockbusters and kid movies. If you’ve seen it, tell us what you think and if you think Jolie is Oscar worthy.

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie spend romantic weekend alone in Spain

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie spent a night away from their four children in Bilbao, Spain over the weekend, taking a private jet out of Prague, Czech Republic where they are staying while Angelina films the thriller Wanted. They enjoyed two days together away from their young children. Angelina recently told Marie Claire that she gives her children individual attention and that “We’re working on it. Right now, we’re not great about Mommy-and-Daddy time.” With this latest mini-vacation, it looks like they’re carving out some alone time together.

This weeks’ Star Magazine has a cover featuring Angelina’s insect-thin arms with the title “98 pounds! Brad panics as Angie COLLAPSES!” The accompanying story is little more than known details about the couple, with vague references to a collapse that is not recent. They talk about Angelina’s health at the time she was filming A Mighty Heart, and use the old story that she’s shaky and losing her hair.

A commentor chastised me for not mentioning Ted Casablanca’s blind item on Friday that blatantly suggested Angelina was on heroin. The truth is I was super busy last week and didn’t cover it due to that, not due to any favoritism. (Angelina is not my favorite person, nor do I hate her. I do think Brad is super hot and like to see them with the kids.) The thing is, if it’s true why make it a blind item and why not say “sources claim” or whatever? I always thought those blind items were a way to make up even more shit about the celebrities and not get in trouble by naming names. I go back and forth on Angelina, and it could be true, but where’s the evidence? I would rather believe she’s just not eating.

Thanks to Splash News for these pictures. I would get the big versions for you, but they’re not great pictures so you get the idea.

Paris Hilton’s 500k car gets repossessed while she’s in prison

Paris Hilton got a $500,000 SLR McLaren Mercedes Benz in the spring of last year. The doors flip up to open, and it’s such an exclusive car there are only 500 made a year. (Here are the specs on the car.) She seems to love that car and showed it off quite a bit when she first bought it.

It seems that either Paris’ people didn’t remember to pay her bills, or she neglected to keep up the payments while she went through her very public trouble. She forgot to make two monthly payments on the $400,000 loan, and the car was repossessed by the bank!

Star has learned that after Paris, 26, missed two car payments on the $400,000 loan… the repo man moved in. The car… is now in a Gardena, California, recovery lot. “When we learned it was Paris’, we were shocked,” says an insider. “She must have been so distracted with everything else, she forgot to pay her bills!”

[From Star Magazine print edition, July 2, 2007]

This is the same car in which she got a DUI, so maybe she doesn’t want the painful but ultra-stylish and high performance memories. It’s more likely that she just forgot all about it, just like she twice forgot that she wasn’t supposed to drive with a suspended license.

Paris gets out of jail tomorrow and I wonder if we’ll be seeing pictures of her at the impound lot bailing out her vehicle. She will appear on Larry King on Wednesday night.

Here are pictures of Paris with her car in April, 2006.

Eva Longoria pays for her wedding and then some by selling picture rights

Eva Longora has scored a $2 million deal with OK! Magazine for the exclusive photos from her July 7th wedding to Spurs player Tony Parker. The three day wedding extravaganza in Paris is said to cost over a million, with Longoria and Parker footing the bill for the hotel and a chartered flight for guests. The women will enjoy an all expenses paid spa trip while Parker’s friends are going golfing the day before the nuptuals. The ceremony will be the Chateau di Chantilly outside Paris, with white flowers and white candles throughout. Kenny Chesney will perform at the reception, to be held at French club the VIP room.

According to Page Six, People Magazine and OK! were in a bidding war for the rights to the photos, with OK! willing to pay more. There was speculation that People was not picked as it covered Tony and Eva’s brief split last year, but the final decision is said to have come down to money, not bad feelings:

Sources said People “laid the groundwork” for landing exclusive photos of Eva Longoria and Tony Parker’s July 7 wedding - but Page Six has learned that OK! won the frenzied bidding. Sources close to the negotiations said OK! paid more than $2 million.

It was a surprising - and costly - end to the battle for the privilege to snap the nuptials, which the “Desperate Housewives” hottie and her San Antonio Spur fiancé plan to hold in a romantic castle in Paris.

“People editors broke the story of their wedding and were working hard with Eva’s reps [to secure the picture rights],” said a source close to the talks. “They were upset about losing the photos.”

Other sources suggested that previous coverage in People of the couple’s rumored breakup, including a photo of Parker with another woman in New York, may have influenced the result.

But a well-placed source said that had nothing to do with it, that “it was [entirely] a matter of money, straight up to the final negotiation.” Another insider said, “Everyone wanted the photos . . . but everyone knows OK! will pay [a lot].”

I thought Eva was a fool to spend so much on her wedding, which will be her second after her two year marriage to actor Tyler Christopher ended in early 2004. Now it seems she knew exactly what she was doing, and was just building up the anticipation so she could cash in big time.

Maybe that’s her strategy by marrying Parker too. She’s sure to get a nice settlement when she divorces the millionaire basketball player, and I haven’t heard anything about a prenup.

Cameron Diaz Offends Peruvians

Cameron Diaz is making headlines on her recent trip to Peru, and fortunately they have nothing to do with Justin or Jessica, but unfortunately they have to do with her insensitiveness and/or ignorance to the Peruvian people.

While exploring the Inca city of Machu Picchu high in Peru’s Andes, Diaz wore an olive green over the shoulder bag with a red star and the words “serve the people” on it in Chinese. “Serve the people” is a slogan from China’s communist lead Mao’s reign. Perhaps what Diaz didn’t know is that the Maoist Shining Path insurgency killed 70,000 people in Peru during the late 80’s and early 90’s through assassinations, bombings and massacres.

Cameron’s bag sells at trendy stores, but the significance of her bag in Peru is certainly more than the significance of it in LA, for example.

Yahoo has this quote from a Peruvian humanitarian:

“It alludes to a concept that did so much damage to Peru, that brought about so many victims” said Pablo Rojas about the bag’s slogan. “I don’t think she should have used that bag where the followers of that ideology” did so much damage.”

I feel this was an honest mistake on Cameron’s part, but one that could have easily been avoided. It is important as a traveler to take into account the history and culture of any place you are visiting, as it is insensitive and can be considered downright rude as in Cameron’s case, to do otherwise.

Foxy Brown Attacked!

foxybrown.JPG
Rapper Foxy Brown was attacked this weekend by a gang of women. The women stole her Louis Vuitton purse, 500 dollars, pulled out her hearing aid and yanked out her weave. Sources say she was most upset by the damage done to her hair.

So why did a group of women attack Foxy? Well, the answer is more interesting than you might think! Brown was dating a guy she met at a recording studio. Unbeknownst to her, he was a pimp! She dumped him Saturday night and he got mad, so he called upon his “lady friends” to jump Brown, and they obliged. Splash News Online reports that immediately after the attack she filed a complaint at a police station in Brooklyn.

This isn’t Brown’s first run in with the law. She was charged in 2004 for attacking two manicurists and sentenced to three years probation. At least this time she wasn’t doing the attacking! Karma’s a bitch.

Paris is no longer in the Bad Girl Club

This hilarious letter from Steve Santagati, author of the book ‘The Manual, a True Bad Boy Explains how Men Think, Date, and Mate- and What Women Can Do to Come Out on Top’ to Paris Hilton was published via TMZ. I thought I would post it here for your enjoyment:

Dear Paris,

You are hereby notified that your membership in the Bad Boy Bad Girl club has been revoked. You slipped over the edge into stupid and are no longer good at being bad, so we want you out and will not refund your dues. And by “dues” I mean the dues you paid by doing a sex video, starring in “The Simple Life,” getting drunk in public, converting others to the club [Brittney and Lindsey, which, by the way, will also be receiving this notice], showing the world — via the paparazzi — your coochi, and all around acting without remorse or apology … all wonderful things.

However, real Bad Girls don’t drink and drive, real bad girls don’t get caught, real bad girls don’t go to jail [that's only cool if you're a guy], and real bad girls don’t call Sarah Silverman a bitch. Moreover, we all know the rich don’t do jail time, and if they do, they do it with class [see Martha Stewart for details]. Therefore, you’re out.

Fortunately for the other members of the club, you can’t buy your way back in. Feel free to re-apply, but for now you are on permanent suspension.

Sincerely,

Steve Santagati
President

P.S. Notifying you via TMZ is considered official.

OmniPeace Charity Brings Out Celebs

I feel it’s important to post about celebs going to charity events, and not just if they go out to eat or go clubbing, especially when it’s a worthwhile cause.

This past weekend, celebs such as David Arquette and wife Courteney Cox, Casey Affleck and David Spade went out to an event for OmniPeace, a charity hoping to end extreme poverty in sub-Saharan Africa by 2005. While it’s now 2007 and this hasn’t happened, I commend them for continuing on and helping out.

OmniPeace sells things like t-shirts, chocolate bars and baseball caps giving 50% of the profit to the organization Millennium Promise, a non-profit organization that wants to go from village to village in Africa, erasing poverty by teaching and providing skills and tools to rid the villages of poverty and to help them become self-sustaining. The OmniPeace website has many celebs lending their support, with people like Naomi Campbell, Sienna Miller and JoJo all wearing t-shirts. You can support them by buying a shirt or any of their gear, or by giving donations directly to Millennium Promise.

This is the conclusion on the OmniPeace website, and I think it is worth noting:

There comes a time in every generation when civilization redefines itself and momentum builds to bring down a status quo that people are no longer willing to accept; the abolition of slavery, woman’s liberation, the fall of the Berlin wall, apartheid and now extreme poverty and disease. Help give the poorest people in the world a chance to survive by purchasing an OmniPeace branded product.

Thanks to SplashNews for these photos.

Barbara Walters Says the Whole Paris Thing is Beneath Her

barbararosie.jpg
In case anyone wanted to know what Barbara Walters thought about not getting the Paris interview, here it is in her own words, as posted by the New York Post in an interview with Cindy Adams:

“Look, I’ve done prison interviews before, but people like the Menendez Brothers were really important news stories. This wasn’t. And even though I’d already written my questions, when all that pay-for-play stuff happened, I suddenly felt this was not up to my standard. It . . . felt . . . sort of . . . tawdry. The whole thing somehow was beneath me. Besides, it was a no-win. If I did a tough piece and her tears started to flow, it would be, ‘Oh, there’s Barbara Walters making people cry again.’ Too soft, and I’d be criticized. [ABC] they wanted it. For them it was ratings. For me it was respect. I’m fortunately at a point in my life where I can choose what I want, and this was solely my decision. But I must tell you how classy ABC was. They didn’t try to force me or say they’d place it on Nightline, or give it to someone else to do or any of the things they could have done. They respected my decision and walked away. Some agreed with my decision, some didn’t. For me it was just a question of respect.”

I think Barbara is being very classy in her way of handling this. And I am glad that she sees that this is not the be all and end all. Paris was thought to be giving her first interview to NBC, who denied reports that Paris was getting paid 1 million for the interview. Now it has been reported that she will be going on the Larry King Show this Wednesday. She has released this official statement regarding the interview:

“I am thrilled that Larry King has asked me to appear on his program to discuss my experience in jail, what I have learned, how I have grown and anything else he wants to talk about. Larry King is not only a world-renown journalist, but a true American Icon. It will be an honor to do his show.”

TMZ is also reporting that Paris plans to build a transitional home when she gets out of jail. The home would be a place where just released inmates can get back on their feet and out of the whole in and out of jail cycle, by having a place to stay, food to eat, clothes on their backs to help them get on their way. AND Paris also says she wants to start a fresh, and get rid of her old toxic friends. Whew. Hard to keep up with her, and she’s still in jail. Can’t wait to see the circus once she gets out!
