Paris just couldn’t hack prison so she got herself a widdle transfer home for a little over a month. Her psychiatrist’s visit had everything to do with her medical release from prison. TMZ reports that insiders say she was given the option to go under house arrest because her psychiatrist, Charles Sophy, claimed she was on the verge of a nervous breakdown. Paris was released from prison based on Sophy’s report on her “fragile” mental status.

This isn’t the first time Paris has pled emotional problems, TMZ points out. She got out of an impending trial for her defamation suit by Zeta Graff by saying she was “emotionally distraught and traumatized” over her upcoming jail sentence.

I would suspect that a lot of people get weepy and upset their first few days in jail, and that almost no one has the resources or the clout to get moved to house arrest by request.

Still, Michelle Rodriguez got out of that same prison after only a few days served for a longer sentence, and since she was talking about how great it was, it seemed like she was let go for good behavior coupled with overcrowding.

Just think what kind of PR Paris would be working if she did all her time in jail. She could be emerging triumphant in just over three weeks time, and even my opinion about the spoiled heiress would be swayed. Instead, she pled insanity and we’re all talking about how unfair it was that she worked the system. Even LA County officials are complaining.

Update: a publicist, who probably never represented Paris, is saying that she was suicidal. Take this guys’ comments with a grain of salt, as I bet he’s just jumping to conclusions based on public news about Paris. Remember this is the guy that ripped Kim Kardashian a new one in a rambling online rant about how she was only out for fame and never paid his bill or something:

Paris was apparently suffering from severe panic attacks and depression, where she even became suicidal. Towards the end of her stay, Paris began, what others call, a nervous breakdown. Her psychiatrist was so concerned for her well being they did everything possible to get her to a place in which was comfortable for her and her health.

Paris has 9 a.m. hearing in front of judge that sent her to prison
Paris Hilton has been ordered to attend a 9 a.m. hearing today in LA by the judge who sent her to prison. The LA City Attorney asked for another hearing before the judge who sentenced Paris to figure out why she got sprung early. His request was granted and Paris must show up to face the judge who ordered her to spend 23 days in jail - not at home, and not at the facility of her choice.

The LA County attorney’s statement is harsh and clear. He says no one notified his office that Paris was about to make a mockery of the justice system, and that Paris’ “medical condition” could have been dealt with in jail:

Delgadillo released a statement today condemning the decision to release Paris from jail. “Had we been provided with the proper notification, we would have opposed the decision on legal grounds,” he said.

Delgadillo also called the medical condition explanation for releasing Paris “puzzling,” adding that “Los Angeles County Jail medical facilities are well-equipped to deal with medical situations involving inmates.”

“I have directed my criminal branch to immediately explore all possible legal options to ensure that the law is being applied equally and justly in this case,” he said. “If law enforcement officials are to enjoy the respect of those we are charged with protecting, we cannot tolerate a two-tiered jail system where the rich and powerful receive special treatment. We must ensure that in our city, in our nation, and under our Constitution, justice remains blind.”

The attorney says that “the decision on whether or not Ms. Hilton should be released early and placed on electronic monitoring should be made by Judge Sauer and not the Sheriff’s Department.” He thinks that the Sheriff’s department violated the judge’s oder by giving Paris a pass.

The judge even said Paris could not serve out her sentence in a paid facility of her choice like Martha Stewart (even though Paris lied and said this option was open to her when she was interviewed at the MTV Movie awards) or at home with electronic monitoring.

I wonder how late she’ll be to this court appearance.

Paris’ mystery mental medical problem
Everyone is speculating as to why Paris got out early, with some questionable stories that she was suicidal, that the stress caused her herpes to flare up, that she had a rash all over her body, and/or that she was detoxing from too much drug use. The overall consensus is that Paris had “mental problems” as the decision to spring her was based on her psychiatrist’s’ report. [Thanks Kiwi for the tip on the detoxing]

Regardless of why she was sprung, there are surely countless women in that jail right now that faced the same issues or worse that got Paris out early. They just didn’t have the resources or the pull needed to influence the sheriff for an early release.

She might have gotten out early as an average inmate anyway
The Sheriff’s office is standing by their early release of Paris, saying that this happens all the time. The AP quotes an expert that states that most nonviolent offenders do only 10% of their sentences due to overcrowding.

A Loyola University professor is also quoted by the AP with suspicions that Paris’ release was arranged well ahead of time to give prison staff a break. It takes a lot of planning and money to look after such a high-profile inmate, and they were probably happy to get her off their hands:

Loyola University law professor Laurie Levenson said that she suspected the deal for Hilton’s early release was in the works even before she entered the jail system — and that officials probably were anxious to get her out of their custody.

“The time and resources needed to take care of a Paris Hilton are huge,” she said. “They have to make sure she is safe and her medical needs are attended to. Everything they did was going to be looked at under a microscope.”

Paris’ PR disaster
This is going to be a PR disaster for Paris. If she would have done her time she could have emerged triumphant and hairy, even more of a star for having endured a little hardship in her charmed life.

Instead, even if she does go back to jail for three weeks she’ll always be known as a wuss and a copout, and people will go on hating her like they always have. It almost doesn’t matter if she would have got out early if she wasn’t rich and powerful. People wanted her to do the time, and it will always be perceived that she pulled rank.

There are no paparazzi photos of Paris post jail, just of her parents, sister Nicky and a few other people arriving at her house. She is said to have given cupcakes that she had delivered to the media gathered outside.

Isaiah Washington is off “Grey’s Anatomy” after much ado over calling T.R. Knight a little f*****, which prompted T.R. to come out of the closet. Katherine Heigl chimed in on the on-set controversy after Washington brought it up himself at the Golden Globe awards, using the f word again but saying how much he loves the gays. He eventually made a public service announcement for glaad telling people not to use hateful words and it seemed like the story that would never end.

Overall it sounded like “Grey’s” was a tough and stressful set. There was the fight that occurred after the f word was hurled, with Washington choking and shoving Patrick Dempsey when he tried to defend Knight. There was another on set fight between Dempsey, aka Dr. McDreamy and Dr. McSteamy, actor Eric Dane. Dane accused Dempsey of cheating during a card game and was said to have lunged at him, with the crew separating them before a hot fight could ensure.

In March came news of trouble with Katherine Heigl’s contract, and Heigl broke off contract talks with the network at the same time it was announced that fellow cast member Kate Walsh was getting her own show, making it seem like she wanted a spin off too. Heigl has a burgeoning career in film and her new movie Knocked Up is a hit, so that probably wasn’t the issue and she just wanted a raise. Heigl got a pay raise, and will remain on the show.

Two days ago came news that T.R. Knight will be returning to Greys, and now we know that Washington is off.

One insider, who requested anonymity due to the sensitivity of the situation, speculated that the decision was likely due only in part to the T.R. Knight homophobic slur scandal and the subsequent fallout. “There was a pattern of problematic behavior going back before he used the F-word,” says my spy. “I imagine [his dismissal] was the result of all of that.”

Washington’s rep, Howard Bragman, confirmed the news, adding that his client was informed by Grey’s executive producer Shonda Rhimes earlier today that he was not being invited back to the show. In a statement, Washington, referencing the iconic line from Network, said, “I’m mad as hell and I’m not going to take it anymore.” (He’s kidding… I think.)

Plot-wise, it won’t be difficult to explain Washington’s absence. In last month’s season finale, Burke left Cristina at the altar and moved out of their apartment.

I just started watching Greys here in Switzerland, and am undoubtedly at least a season behind, but it’s an excellent show even though the music and themes get a little shmaltzy. I can’t stand hospital shows like ER, but Grey’s has a lot of great characters and that’s good to know that the best ones will be on next season. Washington’s character wasn’t that likable anyway, and it doesn’t seem like he will be missed.

Angelina Jolie was named a member of the thinktank nonpartisan foreign policy group The Council on Foreign Relations. At first I didn’t think this was a big deal, as Jolie is already a UN Goodwill Ambassador and seems to have some influence in government considering that she also attended the World Economic Forum last year.

According to Wikipedia, The Council on Foreign Relations is an elite organization that is considered the greatest influence on US foreign policy outside the State Department. It is able to shape policy with members that include many State Department employees and government officials along with big corporate interests that pay for membership. Current members include Jimmy Carter, Condoleezza Rice, Dick Cheney, Henry Kissinger, John Kerry, and Bill Clinton. Angelina Jolie will join Ron Silver as one of the two actor members, along with media representatives such as Tom Brokaw, Diane Sawyer, and Lesley Stahl.

There are two types of membership, life and term memberships. Term memberships are for people between the ages of 30 and 36 and lasts for 5 years. It is likely that Angelina has this type of membership.

It’s doubtful that the Council on Foreign Relations can get all those powerful people together at once, but they do hold meetings and conferences, according to their website:

Panel discussions, interviews, lectures, book clubs, and film screenings bring Council members together with senior government officials, world leaders, academic experts, and prominent thinkers to discuss the major foreign policy issues of our time.

The Council on Foreign Relations is about to get a lot more press for their various events, and they undoubtedly are banking on that by approving Jolie for membership.

My first thought when hearing this is that she’ll be busy with obligations for this organization soon, and that we really should take her literally when she says she’ll take a year off acting.

Richie Sambora is the latest sort-of celebrity to go to rehab. It’s unknown where he is, and he is said to be an “undisclosed facility” in Los Angeles.

No one is sure why Sambora is in rehab, but he’s been rumored to have drinking problems. The National Enquirer reported recently that Denise Richards left him because he was drinking all the time to cope with the loss of his father to cancer. In February he was said to have smashed his car through the closed gate outside to his house when he was driving drunk.

Sambora was also said to be begging his ex wife of 11 years, Heather Locklear, for another chance, but she has since moved on and is dating her old Melrose Place costar, Jack Wagner.

Sambora’s rep confirms that the Bon Jovi guitarist is getting treatment for his addictions in a statement:

“Richie Sambora has entered an undisclosed treatment facility in Los Angeles. He asks that you respect he and his family’s privacy at this time.”

Richie Sambora is expected to perform with his band Bon Jovi at a June 19th gig on the Today show. It is unknown if he will take a leave from rehab or if his treatment will be completed at that time.

Lindsay Lohan’s mom is taking a trip to visit her daughter after she checked into Promises rehab over a week and a half ago. Best Week Ever reports insider information that says Dina was on route to visit Lindsay yesterday.

Star Magazine reports in its latest issue that Lindsay doesn’t want any of her family visiting her, and says that she’s been texting friends to bring her sleeping medication. They also say she has a $2,000/day sobriety coach and that she is craving sugar.

Enquirer backs Star’s claims and adds the details that Lohan has refused to attend group therapy in the facility, that she has insisted on not having a room mate, and that all she’s spending a lot of time planning her 21st birthday party, to take place in Vegas on July 2nd. While Lohan has lost most of her sponsors she is still contractually obligated to host her party at the nightclub Pure at Ceasar’s Palace. She is also said to have booked a whole floor at Ceasars for the party.

“She was supposed to share quarters, but she insisted on having her own private room,” the pal added.

“And while group therapy is a huge part of substance-abuse recovery.

“Lindsay went only once and then refused to return.”

Another pal insists that Lohan is using her time at the clinic to plan her 21st birthday bash in Las Vegas.

The actress reportedly plans on taking over a whole floor at Caesars Palace casino for her party in July.

“Lindsay’s using her month-long stay to plan her 21st birthday party, scheduled to take place days after she’s released,” the friend claimed.

“Lindsay’s number one priority is her birthday bash - and she’s not planning a sober party.”

I guess it’s good that her mom is coming to see her, then, since she’s such a good influence and will probably talk her out of that huge birthday bash.

Either that or Lohan’s mom will bring along cameras to film the touching mother daughter reunion for her new E! reality show.

Sorry for the lack of posts today, I’m dealing with stuff on my end that’s got me super annoyed at the lack of justice in the world, kind of like what’s going on with pseudo-celebrities we love to mock.

Paris Hilton was supposed to appear in court this morning to face the judge whose sentence she wiggled out of at 9 a.m. Pacific time, which would have been an hour ago.

She hasn’t left her house yet, though, and her lawyer and the LA County prosecutor have arrived at the courthouse already.

The prosecutor says that no one notified him that Paris would be phoning in her testimony, and now TMZ reports that Paris must get her ass into court and that the judge has ordered her to appear in person!

This is too funny because if the judge was at all inclined to be lenient with Paris, he’s surely going to send her ass back to prison for being an hour late to his courtroom.

These are two unknown women at Paris’ gate - and oops, looks like the Sheriff has arrived at Paris’ pad to pick her up!

Paris Hilton was handcuffed and shoved into the back of a sheriff’s vehicle to be personally escorted her to court.

It may not have been widdle Paris’ fault that she didn’t appear on her own an hour and a half ago when she was scheduled. TMZ reports that the Sheriff’s department and judge were at odds over who has jurisdiction over Paris, with the Sheriff’s department claiming their decision to put her on house arrest didn’t violate the judge’s order.

This is indeed getting good and the soon to come pictures will be priceless.

Paris was seen weeping in the police cruiser on her way to court, and TMZ reports that she’s been ordered back to jail. Guess it didn’t really work in her favor to try to phone it in.

Judge Sauer said he heard that Paris didn’t intend to come to court herself and wanted to call in her testimony by hearing on the radio from a DJ who read it on TMZ!

More details as they come out, but really, the story is pretty much told now. What a circus.
