Tameka Foster says her wedding to Usher is still on

Tameka Foster, Usher’s (former?) fiancé, is letting everyone know that the wedding is still on. According to Foster, their wedding was canceled because she was suffering from pregnancy complications. Different sources cite her as going into the hospital on Friday afternoon (before the wedding was postponed/canceled), Saturday afternoon (the day of the wedding) or Sunday afternoon. It’s hard to tell from the articles if they have bad fact-checkers or are getting different stories from Usher and his people. According to Foster’s most recent statement, after she went into the hospital on Friday, the doctor said the baby was fine, and she was suffering cramping due to nerves. At this point, she and Usher decided to postpone the wedding. If that’s the case, I wonder why they waited until a few hours before the wedding to make an announcement? And why in the world would they have been so deliberately vague, when they’d obviously have to explain themselves later? I call B.S. on Tameka Foster and every word that comes out of her mouth. But she made sure People magazine knew everything great:

“No one [in the media] knows why we canceled the wedding, but I can tell you that all of the reasons that everyone is speculating and writing about are completely untrue.”

[From People]

Alright, then why all the secrecy if you’re just going to talk about it a few days later? It seems like a lot of crap has hit the fan for Usher lately. He fired most of his people (including his mother) after he started dating Foster. Then a few weeks ago, he went apeshit on one of his fan sites for reprinting articles that weren’t very complimentary of Tameka. Then they have that tersely worded press release which did use the word “canceled” in terms of the wedding and made it clear they wouldn’t talk about it. And now they’re surprised or annoyed that people think their wedding is off? According to pretty much every website on the planet, Tameka is a major pain in the butt. She’s got a criminal record, is supposedly bossy and domineering, and has alienated Usher’s mother from the artist. The two were spotted together today holding hands, and they both confirmed that the wedding is still (or back) on. Usher told Us Magazine “As of right now we don’t have a date but we will let you know when we do.” Run while you can!

Former American Idol contestant arrested

coreyclark1.jpg
Former American Idol season 2 contestant Corey Clark, 27, was arrested and booked into jail in Little Rock, Arkansas last night. He was charged with possessing a controlled substance and possessing drug paraphernalia. This was the same guy that made it to the finals, but was kicked out of the competition when judges found out he had a previous arrest that he’d lied about. Also the same guy who claimed Paula Abdul coached him during the show, while simultaneously having an affair with him.

“The former ‘American Idol’ contestant was being held at the Pulaski County jail pending a court appearance Tuesday in North Little Rock, said John Rehrauer, a spokesman for the sheriff’s department.

Clark was arrested near Interstate 40 at about 2:30 a.m. Monday on charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia, Rehrauer said.

A warrant had been issued for Clark after he failed to appear in an Arizona court on a summons stemming from an arrest last year for violating a court order and trespassing.”

[From the Washington Post]

Clark was disqualified for not revealing his first arrest to American Idol producers. In that incident, he got into a fight with his 15-year-old sister in their home, and was charged with misdemeanor battery on four police officers and his sister, as well as endangering a child. Clark claimed the officers beat him.

That headline about American Idols in trouble with the law pops up a lot more than it should. Clark seems to be the worst offender, with at least three separate legal incidents on his record. He’s followed by season 4 contestant Jessica Sierra who was charged with “aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, possession of cocaine and introduction of contraband into a detention facility,” after she broke a cocktail glass over a guy’s head. An then of course, there’s Clay Aiken getting questioned by the FBI for exposing his stinky feet on a plane and getting into a fight with another passenger about it. That incident might sound the smallest, but it’s federal.

Picture note by Celebitchy: While doing the link post yesterday I noticed someone pointed out how much Corey Clarke looks like Sideshow Bob, so the header image isn’t an original idea or anything. I can’t find it again at this point, but once I do I’ll give credit. If you saw this yesterday let me know where it was.

Star Jones finally fesses up

starjonesbeforeafter.jpg
Star Jones’s article for Glamour magazine is out, and she finally admits that she had gastric bypass surgery to lose weight. Star said that she decided to have the procedure after she gained 75 pounds in 17 months. After her fourtieth birthday, things slid downhill, and a lifetime of using food to comfort herself caught up with her. Here are some of the highlights from Star’s article.

On the physical effects of her weight:

“My weight gain began to take a physical toll: I couldn’t breathe without sounding winded; walk without getting tired; sleep without snoring; or take a flight without using a seat belt extender.”

On how she saw herself:

“I used to look in the mirror and take pride in my figure, but that was when I was legitimately a full-figured woman. I’d gradually gone from full-figured to morbidly obese.”

On why she didn’t talk about her surgery:

“Although I’d shared my decision with friends, family and my colleagues at The View, I wasn’t ready to invite the world into my process for a number of reasons: First, I didn’t know if the surgery would work. I had never stuck to a diet or committed to exercise for more than a month, and I had spent my entire adult life telling everyone that I was fine with the way I looked. I also never thought I’d have to explain it. I actually thought that I could say, “None of your business,” and people would say, “OK, she wants to remain private.” If that isn’t evidence of someone not living in truth, I don’t know what is.”

On therapy:

“We started with my need to control everything in my life yet not being able to control my weight… My therapist helped me discover I needed the adoration of others to feel good about myself. I learned that I couldn’t control what others thought; that I had to establish my own truth; that no matter what my truth was, some people were still going to see things differently; and that if I knew the truth, that was all that mattered. So I decided it was time to share my complete weight loss story because I now know that transparency is not humiliating—it is humbling.”

On hypocrisy:

“After I left The View, many women told me they felt empowered by my honesty over having been fired—but wished I was willing to be as honest about my weight loss. They were right: Gastric bypass surgery saved my life, and though I still believe wholeheartedly that health decisions are private and should remain between a doctor and his patient, keeping this decision private started to feel hypocritical and cumbersome. I couldn’t justify it any longer.” [From Glamour Magazine]

I’ve admitted that, though I don’t know why, I like Star Jones. Or at least I like to hear about Star Jones, but I was in college during most of her tenure on “The View” so it’s not like I saw her everyday like a lot of the people who find her irritating. I’m glad she came clean about her surgery. She was right that a person has a right to privacy about medical issues, but she had made so much of her life overly-public, that it was hypocritical to keep this to herself. To me, it came off as kind of vain, at least at the time. Especially because she talked about having a boob job after she’d lost weight, and even called into the show the day after her procedure to discuss it. So that came off as tacky. I’m guessing one of the real reasons she’s come clean about all this is that she has a new show on CourtTV this fall, and her producers knew audiences wouldn’t take her seriously if they thought she was still so vain and materialistic. Who knows if she’s really changed or if this is a PR move.

Vanity Fair

While I can’t dispute most of these. Actually, a few of them I’m not sure I’ve heard of. But one notable exception has to be Helen Mirren? It’s not easy to look fabulous at that age you know? It doesn’t just happen!

Apparently the list is based not only on physical appearance, nor is it in any order of style greatness.

“It’s not just about how much someone spends, it is about having real elegance, style, and individuality,” Vanity Fair special correspondent Amy Fine Collins said in an interview.

The September issue of the magazine, which hits national newsstands on August 7, gave nods to musical, literary and philanthropic icons alike, whether known for their brains or their beauty.

The magazine said it searched beyond the silver screen and fashion runways to select 61 stars of style for the list.

New Zealand Herald

I really like how diverse the list is, including not just celebrities who are famous for fashion. Interestingly, the list has been held annually since 1940, and over 1,000 people vote. They are retailers, editors, fashion designers, restaurant owners and hairdressers.

Picture note by Celebitchy: Thanks to JustJared for the header image of the Beckhams arriving in Italy for the TomKat wedding. Also I know it’s in alphabetical order, but it doesn’t seem like they should even be on this list, not to mention first. Thanks to PRPhotos for the other images.

New Couple Alert: Jude Law and Cameron Diaz?

spx-003068.jpg
Cameron Diaz is dating Jude Law?

The British actor, who played Cameron’s lover in festive comedy The Holiday, is set to spend a romantic week with the stunning actress.

A source is quoted as saying: “Jude is going to take her on a series of romantic dates this week.

“They had a lot of fun while making The Holiday and this is the key to their relationship.”

Stuff

Cameron, 34, met Jude, also 34, on the set of The Holiday last year, when she was still with Justin Timberlake (Not that I’m suggesting anything improper!). She was quoted at the time as saying “Jude is charismatic, fun, open and charming. It is very easy to fall in love with him.”

Tell that to the former nanny! Actually, Daisy Wright (the nanny who had a fling with Jude Law and broke up his engagement with Sienna Miller) was just interviewed by Marie Claire magazine about her life post-sex scandal, and had this to say.

“I know this sounds naive, but I didn’t realise how big the story was going to be. To this day, I can’t bring myself to read it. I went against everything I stood for. It was just what I though was right at the time.”

Marie Claire Australia, print edition, May 2007.

I always wonder what happens to those women who sleep with famous people and sell their story. Six months later are their mothers talking to them again? How hard is it to get work again after? Do people come up to you on the street for a long time after? Seems a lot to give up for a couple of hundred thousand from a tabloid newspaper.

Daisy says she plans to use the money she made to open an African orphanage, and now works full time again as a nanny.

Note by Celebitchy: Jude Law’s spokesperson denies that there’s any sort of romance between these two, saying “He hasn’t seen her for months. They’re friends but that’s it.” At least Diaz isn’t being linked with that scumbag Criss Angel any more. Header picture is from The Holiday UK premiere on 12/05/2006.

Nicole Richie Confirms What We All Knew

richieconfirms.jpg
The worst kept secret in Hollywood has been conformed. Nicole Richie is pregnant. She tells Diane Sawyer that yes, she is pregnant, “I’m almost four months.”

In the interview she adds this about her drunken driving conviction.

“I have a responsibility and it’s something that I did wrong, and if I could personally apologize to every single person who has lost a loved one from drunk driving, I would. Unfortunately, I can’t, but this is my way of paying my dues and taking responsibility and being an adult.”

She adds to OK! magazine.

“I was watching CNN about a month ago, and they happened to be talking about young people driving under the influence. They were flashing little kids (on the screen) who were killed by drunk drivers, and it broke my heart. It was a big wake-up call.”

All quotes taken from USA Today.

Well, she only had to get caught twice to work it out!! That jail sentence is a good idea, she might forget.

Nicole is looking really cute – maybe what Gwyneth says about pregnancy vitamins is true. Boyfriend Joel Madden appears with her for the interview, looking less cute.

In other pregnancy news, Christina Aguilera is finishing her world tour this week, after being given the all-clear by doctors. Still no word on her pregnancy from the singer, although her illness is being said than more than just a simple case of singing-impeding sniffles, she actually collapsed backstage. Two more nights, Chrissie, then a long haul flight back home, and you can put your feet up. And your swollen ankles.

Note by Celebitchy: Can I please gloat again for calling her pregnant back when I saw the “potbelly” pictures, before the Enquirer was even saying it?

OJ Simpson angry and delusional

Yesterday Ron Goldman’s family was finally awarded all of the rights to OJ Simpson’s book “If I did it.” The family first won a $38 million wrongful death lawsuit against Simpson in the late nineties. Simpson has publicly declared that he will never voluntarily pay the Goldmans a penny, even if it means he never works for the rest of his life. When he wrote his “hypothetical” book, he created a shell company in his children’s’ names, so that he could still get the money and the Goldmans couldn’t touch it. Well obviously that didn’t work out to well, as they, and most of the rest of the world, were incredibly offended that Simpson would write such a book and actually get to keep his reported $1 million advance. So they took him to court and have now won the rights to everything regarding the book, which has been auctioned off. They’ve decided to publish it under the True Crime genre. Simpson has again lashed out against the Goldman family, saying that if he can’t make money off the book, neither should they. He did an interview broadcast on business news Web site Market News First on Tuesday.

“I find it sort of hypocritical that they talked everybody in America to boycott the book: it was ‘immoral,’ it was ‘blood money,’” he told interviewer Kate Delaney. “But we now see it wasn’t ‘blood money’ if they got the money.”

Goldman attorney David Cook said his clients were justified in accepting rights to the book as payment for the judgment against Simpson.

“Mr. Simpson himself has placed us in this horrific setting of seeking to liquidate this asset,” he said. “His comments are beyond redemption.”

[From the Associated Press]

In another snippet of his interview, Simpson talked about how hard his life was considering what a great guy he is, and how very, very unfair this world is.

“To me, it hurts me the most. The two things that hurts me the most— well, other than being considered a murderer and all that— is that to some degree, exposing this racial divide, which might be a good thing. I don’t know. It’s being considered a batterer when every girl I’ve ever dated stood by me during the trial. Every girl I’ve ever dated, when Interpol in Europe and the FBI and everybody interviewed them and said, That’s not O.J.

And even Nicole’s closest friends will tell you that after we split up and even while we were going through our divorce, every time she had a problem, her closest friend will tell you she would come to me. If she had problems with guys or how to handle guy, I was the guy she came to for advice, and yet I ended up through one incident on a New Year’s night, which we’ll talk about tomorrow, became the poster boy for abuse. And that hurts me. That still hurts me.”

[Snipped from On the Record with Greta Van Susteren]

The Goldman family was then interviewed by Greta Van Susteren on FOX news, where Fred Goldman responded.

“The killer [Simpson] several months ago filed bankruptcy of his sham company that he used to move the money from HarperCollins to himself. And in an effort to stop us from getting the rights to the book in California, he filed bankruptcy.

The bottom line is that when all was said and done, the court awarded us the rights to the book through bankruptcy, and turns out that’s a good thing as far as we’re concerned. We took away an asset of his that he was protecting, that he was using to make money. We took it away. He will never make money with it again.”

[From On the Record with Greta Van Susteren]

Kim Goldman, Ron’s younger sister, added the following:

“You know, our hope with acquiring the rights, obviously, like my father said, was to take something away from him. But at this point, you know, we have an opportunity to try to turn this around and do something positive with it. You know, my father and I for a long time have wanted to start a foundation, which we did. We launched it. And you know, with a portion of the proceeds of the book going to the foundation, we hope for better situations of other victims of crime. So we’re going to work very hard to make this an easier process as we move forward.”

[From On the Record with Greta Van Susteren]

O.J. Simpson is so delusional it boggles the mind. Not only is he a murderer, but he’s angry that people don’t treat him like the special, wonderful celebrity that he believes he is. Someone who should be able to kill and avoid the law, be it jail or financial judgments. He’s truly mad that these people are still upset that he killed their son. I can’t even say much, I get so mad just knowing that a person like this can exist in the world.

DMX in the doghouse

adb-006261.jpg
Rapper DMX has been ordered to pay a whopping $242,000 to Amusing Diversions Inc, which makes fancy dog clothes. True story. DMX signed a contract with the company saying that he would promote a line of dog clothing that was named for his dog Boomer 129. The line included all of the doggie essentials: raincoats, caps, bomber jackets and scarves. Apparently things started off alright, but DMX never really fulfilled his end of the contract – he just took the company’s money. He was supposed to endorse the Boomer 129 line at his concerts, TV, and public appearances. Not only did DMX not do that, but he actually promoted the line’s competitors instead, resulting in a severe financial loss for Amusing Diversions.

“The 36-year-old rapper, whose real name is Earl Simmons, was ordered to pay a $242,000 judgment to Amusing Diversions Inc., a company that produced and marketed the canine clothing line, named for his dog Boomer 129.”

[From Fox News]

I was kind of confused or why in the world this company would want DMX to promote their brand. I could see Snoop Dogg, because, well it’d be awesome. But what the hell does DMX have to do with dogs? He has one? That makes 70% of the country eligible to promote doggie wear. Well according to the judge, there’s a very good reason, and she’s hip enough to know it. I am not.

dmxgrandchampion.jpg“’DMX, it appears, is known for his growl and bark and is called Pit Bull (which according to the evidence … he has tattooed on his back),’” noted Manhattan state Supreme Court Justice Jane Goodman’s ruling, announced Tuesday.

[From the Associated Press]

If that’s all it takes to get an endorsement deal, I’m going to get an iPod tattooed on my back. And a box of Wheaties. Then between the two deals, I’ll be set for life. Plus I’ll be able to listen to my music wherever I go.

Note by Celebitchy: DMX’s tattoo on his back is in honor of his pitbull Boomer, who was killed by a car. The tattoo says “One Love Boomer.” Aww. In 2003, DMX was said to be working on a Saturday morning cartoon in honor of Boomer, but I’m not sure if anything happened with that as I could find only references to it being in the works.

ABC Announces Whoopi Goldberg will replace Rosie

jtm-024589.jpg
Well it’s not much of a surprise, but ABC announced that Whoopi Goldberg will fill Rosie O’Donnell’s position as the moderator on “The View.” Whoopi makes a lot of sense in that position, as she is similar to Rosie, though she strikes me as someone who is less easily baited. Like O’Donnell, she’s also a known commodity, and very liberal.

“I have known Whoopi for years,’ Walters said in a statement released to ABCNews.com today. ‘She is brilliant, funny and irrepressible, and is an enormously popular and talented star. We are delighted that she is going to join the program as our moderator. This is going to be a great new chapter for ‘The View.’”

Goldberg, 51, has sat in as a guest host since O’Donnell’s departure. She joins Walters and current “View” panelists Elisabeth Hasselbeck and Joy Behar.

“This is a big old thrill for me,” said Goldberg, who appeared with her new colleagues toward the end of the show. “The thing I’m looking forward to the most are the hot topics and everyone trying to get in at the same time.”

[From ABC News]

Whoopi has been an outspoken opponent of the Bush administration and the Iraq war, so we’ll obviously see some more fighting with Elizabeth Hasselbeck. Somehow I don’t think it’ll be quite as personal as the Rosie v. Elizabeth matches, but who knows. Rosie could be a little immature and sink to name calling and the like. I can’t see that coming from Whoopi. But anything could happen, and “The View” certainly likes to boost its ratings with fighting co-hosts.

Nothing was said of the other vacant position, so no one knows if they’ll fill it or leave it open. Technically it’s Star Jones’ position that’s still open. Meredith Viera and Star left at about the same time, after Rosie had already been slated to fill the moderator position, which was Meredith’s. There was a lot of talk that comedian Sherri Shepherd would fill the other position, but no other names were mentioned by Barbara Walters.

“With her household-name status and vocal criticisms of President Bush, Goldberg will likely give “The View” the star power and sound bites formerly supplied by O’Donnell. On today’s show, she hinted that like her predecessor, she won’t shy away from contentious topics, regardless of whether or not her co-hosts share her opinion.

“’I’m going to be a little meaner than normal,’ she said jokingly.

“’Just be yourself.’ Hasselbeck said.”

[From ABC News]

Hopefully the show will take a slightly more sophisticated route this next season. All of the drama, in-fighting, and diva-like behavior really detracted from the smart things the co-hosts had to say. I know Rosie’s feud with Donald Trump helped her career (and probably his too) but I think it came at the expense of some dignity, for all involved. With any luck this coming season will be a little more mature, and a little less bitchy. Not that there’s anything wrong with bitchy.

K-Fed to become awesome parent?

kfedladies.jpg
It’s weird that Kevin Federline is starting to seem not just like the better parent, but like a good parent. He’s done a good job of staying out of the public eye the last few months. Not only do you not see him out with his idiot friends or partying at clubs lately, you also don’t see him out using his kids as photo ops. Not to be too gullible, but that makes you wonder if maybe his motivations are decent. I mean how easy would it be to plop the kids in the car and take them to the park for the paparazzi? He’s been laying low, and from most reports has aligned himself with the entire Spears family – minus Britney of course. Now that the two are officially divorced, Federline’s lawyer Mark Vincent Kaplan had a few statements about K-Fed’s plans here on out.

“’When they are with him, he is going to shield his children from unwanted media attention,’” Kaplan said. “’You will not find a picture of Kevin parading with the children out in a public place.

“’He’s focused right now on being the best parent that he can be,’” the attorney added.

[From the Washington Post]

As of right now, K-Fed and Britney will have 50/50 custody of their kids, and she will pay him $15,000 monthly in child support and an additional $20,000 in monthly spousal maintenance. For some reason even though their divorce is final, their child custody isn’t, and K-Fed is supposedly going after full custody – with the support of Britney’s family. When his lawyer Mark Vincent Kaplan was questioned about the financial settlement, he pointed out that famous people just plain need more money than the rest of us.

“However, Kaplan said Federline’s life as a celebrity father comes with different demands than many other fathers face, including huge expenses. When they go out, Kaplan said, there must be a nanny and security guards.

“’There are people you have to pay so your kids can pretend they’re like everyone else,” said Kaplan. “When you are a celebrity parent, there are financial dynamics that others not familiar with it can’t understand.’”

[From the Washington Post]

That’s fair. Though I really have doubts abut how much of that monthly $25,000 is going to security vs. mansion mortgage payments and diamond-encrusted trucker hats, but at this point, what’s his is his. He’s certainly the lesser of two evils, and perhaps (surprisingly) has the potential to be a good parent. That’d be awesome, because Britney’s kids will really need someone good in their lives to balance all the crazy.

Note by Celebitchy: Sorry for chiming in so much on JayBird’s posts, but I really don’t feel like writing an entire post about this. Both US Weekly and Life and Style are running stories about what a shitty parent Britney is in light of that big fight her bodyguard got into, which resulted in Sean Preston being hurt. US is saying she tried to get Sean Preston’s teeth whitened. This isn’t new information, and came out a few months ago in an OK! Magazine article about her nanny tell-all. It is news to me that she gets him to fetch cigarettes for her, calling them her “lollipops.” Oh and she also threatened to kill a photographer. That is all.
