Remember when youtube.com first started, and then it got popular, and then we had the first scandal of a fake candid video? Well, Lonelygirl15 is one of the biggest scandals to hit YouTube, and her first series is over.

After more than a year and 260 episodes, 16-year old Bree, the main character on the web drama LonelyGirl15, was killed off at the hands of the religious cult that had chased her for the life-giving qualities of her rare blood type.

In her last appearance on the popular and influential web show, Bree, portrayed by Jessica Lee Rose, lies lifeless on a table while her blood is transfused into one of the cult’s elders. The monotone of her flat-lining heart pierces the silence as her devastated friends watch from a distance.

I never knew it went so long! Now Jessica Lee Rose (the actress who portrayed Bree) is planning on heading up to Hollywood, and trying out her acting skills in a more mainstream environment.

This wasn’t exactly the first time YouTube had fakes. Like advertisements for products that were meant to look like amateur videos. I’ve never watched YouTube just for the browsing value (maybe when New Zealand catches up with the rest of the world and gets some decent internet it would be more satisfyingly faster) but it is amazing what people put up there – and what gets removed.

A mother is suing Universal Music Publishing Group for insisting a video of her toddler dancing to music by pop star Prince be yanked from YouTube on copyright violation grounds.

Electronic Frontier Foundation lawyers said they filed a lawsuit yesterday asking a San Francisco federal court to protect the woman’s fair use and free speech rights.

“Universal’s takedown notice doesn’t even pass the laugh test,” said EFF lawyer Corynne McSherry.

“Copyright holders should be held accountable when they undermine non-infringing, fair uses like this video.”

Brangelina are going to be on a stamp. Which is astounding, but I like it. Shiloh will be featured on the stamp as well. A few are asking about the other kids, but how big do you think a stamp is?

Superstars Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are set to join the Queen, the Pope and the nation’s sporting heroes by being immortalised in an Australia Post stamp.

The Hollywood A-List couple were featured on the cover of a recent best-selling edition of New Idea, the magazine which this week received top honours at the 10th Annual Magazine of the Year Awards.

Australia Post, as major sponsor of the awards, plans to reproduce the best-selling New Idea cover in the form of a 50c stamp.

It shows a smiling Brad and Angelina with their newborn baby girl Shiloh.

“I dont know of any other country in the world that has ever had Brad and Angelina on a stamp,” a New Idea spokesman said.

“Whatever the case, these stamps are sure to become instantly collectable and be sought after by philatelists around the country.”

A 50c samp only allows you to post a letter within Australia, making these stamps a little harder to get overseas. If you want some badly enough, you can probably use a few of the stamps on your envelopes. Or just pay 50c and put it inside an envelope! The stamp will actually feature a reproduction of a New Idea cover, featuring the first pictures of baby Shiloh.

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are rumoured to be breaking up, which their rep denies, and Ange says the only thing they argue about is politics. Which must be a lie, because anyone in the world who has kids argues about who’s turn it is next to change that smelly nappy. A joke in Australia (and probably other countries) is saying “I’ll do the next one - the next baby!”

They also cancelled vacation plans, and Maddox tuned six. Happy Birthday Mad!

Kylie Minogue celebrated with a few friends the 20th anniversary of her hit single ‘Locomotion’.

Friday night’s bash was a small party for the close-knit group that has worked with her over the past two decades, said a spokeswoman for Terry Blamey Management.

Her creative director Will Baker once said of Minogue’s mates: “Her best friends you can count on one hand, and those people have known her for a long time.”

Minogue started working in television as an eight-year-old but became internationally known for her role as Charlene in Neighbours.

A chance performance of The Loco-Motion at a benefit concert for a Melbourne AFL club in 1987 launched her music career when she was snapped up by Mushroom Records, which released the song as a single, retitling it Locomotion.

It went to No.1 in the Australian charts and was the highest selling single in Australia in the 1980s.

Two decades and 65million record sales later, her public still adores her.

Obviously Kylie got confused somewhere, and thought she was actually turning 20, and had some work done on her face. As Kylie herself says, beauty secrets are called just that for a reason, and I still luv ya Kyles. I remember that pair of overalls you wore in Neighbours, and begging my mom for a pair. Which I got, and thought I was so cool.

She’s also releasing a sequel to her Darling fragrance, called Sweet Darling. Which is strange – why not just put out a whole new scent? Kate Moss is also developing a new scent. I think that Kate should release a scent of Glastonbury, an earthy scent of beer, mud, seat and rain. Which might be even more effective than Darling for attracting men!

Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillipe’s marriage was one that I said to my husband I’d like ours to be like. This is because the kids seemed to come first, and the woman had more power in the relationship, and really nice clothes and shoes. I didn’t say this is the reality behind the scenes, it might be, but I just wanted our marriage to have all the good traits theirs appeared to have. For a while we wanted to be like Brad Pitt Jennifer Aniston, but that seemed like a bad idea around the time they got divorced.

Anyway, I was shocked when they got divorced. SHOCKED! But this week it seemed they might be getting back together.

Hollywood hunk RYAN PHILLIPPE has denied reports he is giving his marriage with REESE WITHERSPOON another try after the couple were spotted lunching together. The couple split last October (06) after six years of marriage and two children together. They are currently in the middle of divorce proceedings. Recent reports claimed the ex-couple had been seen jogging, shopping and lunching together in Brentwood, California, with an unnamed friend saying, “Reese and Ryan are trying to work it out. They are still close.” However, the Gosford Park actor’s representative tells the New York Post, “It’s not true.”

The same week the marriage reconciliation rumours came about, Rumours about her relationship with Jake Gyllenhaal also came out.

The pair, who are rumoured to have secretly dated after meeting on the set of their upcoming movie Rendition, are now said by friends to be back together again after splitting earlier this summer due to Witherspoon’s reported desire to spend more time with her children.

The Legally Blonde actress has two children, seven-year-old Ava and three-year-old Deacon, with estranged husband Ryan Phillippe.

Commenting on her reported romance with Gyllenhaal, an unnamed pal of the star told US Weekly magazine: “Reese came to terms with the fact that she can have a relationship and spend time with her kids.”

Well it appears Usher was being led down the aisle after all. Although he had previously canceled his nuptials to former stylist Tameka Foster at the last possible minute, the pair wed this past Friday, in an ultra-romantic setting: his lawyer’s office. Why get married at a beautiful estate in the Hamptons when you can do it next to a rolodex? The Chicago Sun Times reports:

“Despite canceling their nuptials scheduled to occur earlier this week, the on-again, off-again wedding of Usher and his pregnant fiancée was finally on — and held quietly Friday, sources told Stella’s Column late Friday night.

“The multiplatinum singer married his longtime girlfriend, Tameka Foster, who is several years older than he, during a private ceremony in his lawyer’s office in Atlanta on Friday, sources said.

“Among those present was Usher’s mother, Jonetta Patton, who, it has been widely reported, staunchly disapproved of the marriage. Foster was reportedly largely responsible for Usher firing his mom as his manager last May.

“The pair, who are expecting their first child together this fall, had been scheduled to marry last weekend before Usher publicist Patti Webster announced the wedding was called off.

“The couple reportedly disagreed over an elaborate prenuptial agreement supported by Usher’s mother”.

Awww. Romance truly is in the air. In keeping with the tone of the wedding, I’m guessing the pair honeymooned at the Sams Club down the street. If I were one of the hundred or so guests who flew in for the canceled wedding just a week earlier, I’d be asking for my present back right about now. The first affair would have taken place at music producer L.A. Reid’s 10,000-square-foot mansion in Sagaponack, and was to have included “70 to 100 guests, including Janet Jackson, Jermaine Dupri, Beyoncé and Jay-Z.” It seemed that Usher was talked back into the wedding within a few days, and despite initially saying they would give no further comment on the cancellation of their wedding, both he and Tameka reported to the press that she’d actually had pregnancy complications. Right.

“Before news broke of the pregnancy scare, it was believed that Usher’s mother and former manager, Jonnetta Patton, did not approve of Foster and had not been invited to the wedding.

“’The reason he called off the ceremony is that he couldn’t go through with it without Jonnetta,’ an insider told the Post. ‘He had an eleventh-hour epiphany.’

“Patton attended the wedding on Friday, the Sun-Times reported.

“The Grammy-award-winning artist also reportedly had a falling out with his godfather, actor Ben Vereen, over the relationship and had cut him from the guest list.”

A man was found dead in Ving Rhames’ yard on Friday, and it was believed he had been killed by Rhames’ dogs. The actor owns three 200 pound mastiffs and an English bulldog, and the man, Jacob Adams, 40, was their caretaker. He was found on the front lawn with bite marks. Most news agencies are still reporting this is a dog mauling, however a few are mentioning the possibility that Adams actually died of a heart attack.

“Two mastiffs, each weighing about 200 pounds, apparently attacked Adams, whose body had numerous bite marks when it was found on the front lawn by officers, police have said.

“Adams might have been mauled to death, but he also might have died of heart failure during the attack, coroner’s officials said Friday.

“Three bull mastiffs and an English bulldog were seized by animal services following the attack, police said.

“Rhames, 46, an action star who appeared in the ‘Mission Impossible’ series of films, was not home at the time of the attack.”

Forty is an incredibly young age to die of a heart attack, but it’s certainly not out of the realm of possibility. TMZ has more information from police on the incident.

Police tell TMZ that the victim of the dog attack at Ving Rhames’ home could have had a heart attack, since none of the wounds — on his arms and legs only — appear to have been life threatening. They speculate that he was possibly running for his life after a confrontation with the dogs. TMZ has learned the 40-year-old caretaker lived at the house and had been an employee of the actor for two years. Tragically, police say the man fed and cared for the animals on a daily basis. In a press conference today, a police spokesman said the victim appears to have jumped the fence to try to get away from the dogs, and died sometime early this morning. Cops say the dogs are very friendly, and as we reported, police are not aware of any previous problems. They do not anticipate charging Rhames with a crime, as this appears to have been a “pure accident.” The animals have been quarantined and will be held over the weekend at an undisclosed shelter. Blood samples will be taken to determine if they have rabies or other dangerous diseases.

US Weekly has an article which references an interview Rhames gave in 1999 to the Los Angeles Times where he mentions his dog Kong, a 170-pound Fila Brasileiro. “’The dog was actually bred to guard slaves,’ Rhames said. ‘It was the only dog they found that had the temperament to guard a slave. It could be around you every day, but if you tried to run away, it would deal with you like it never saw you before.’” Whatever happened to Jacob Adams, it’s an incredibly sad story. It sounds like most of what’s being written right now is still a lot of conjecture, so it will be interesting to see how this story plays out. Rhames is out of the country filming a movie, and hasn’t made any public comments, even through a spokesperson.

In one of the more moving paternal addresses we’ve seen in a while, Eddie Murphy has acknowledged his daughter Angel Iris Murphy Brown. He also made sure to counter Melanie Brown’s statement that “she was planned and wanted by both of us.” Heaven forbid the he let the kid think she was wanted when she wasn’t. His publicist, Arnold Robinson, released a statement.

“‘Mr. Murphy and Ms. Brown dated very briefly and never made any plans of ANY sort,’ the statement said. ‘He acknowledges paternity of the child Angel, and has paid child support to Ms. Brown as well as covering the expenses of her pregnancy.’”

Well if it’s in ALL CAPS, it must be really really true. Poor kid. I’m sure she’ll always be treated as an obligation. Gloria Allred, Scary Spice’s lawyer, responded by noting that Eddie seems to think of Angel as a financial obligation instead of his daughter.

“’He has not indicated in his statement or to us that he plans to visit the baby.’” Brown’s primary concern is that Murphy ‘see his child, spend time with her, hold her, love her and bond with his daughter,’ Allred said.

Gloria Allred actually sounds pretty fair to me. Most psychologists agree that a girl who is treated well by her father will have better self esteem. There’s obviously a lot of exceptions. But having your father treat you like you’re nothing more than a financial burden can’t be good for a little girl. Mel B had a much publicized lunch with Nicole Mitchell, (who Murphy was married to for twelve years) this past weekend. The two met, with Nicole bringing along her five children with Eddie and Mel bringing Angel Iris. There were really cute pictures of them all embracing, and a picture taken through a window of Nicole holding Angel and playing with her. I’m sure it was a well-orchestrated photo op, but it sends a very clear message to Eddie: the women you’ve screwed over are forming a united front. Somehow it bugs me that he’s left such a trail of little children in his wake. He’s moving on happily with his life, buying his new doe-eyed fiancé an eight carat engagement ring, while ignoring at least one of his kids. If he doesn’t get his act together, pretty soon they’ll be adults, writing “Daddy Dearest” memoirs.

Well it was a close call apparently, but the Spice Girls won’t perform in Baghdad. They held a competition on their website for write-in votes for which city they should perform in – dubbed “Spice City” - that was not currently on their itinerary. The winner was Toronto, but only by a hair. Baghdad, Rio de Janeiro and Chicago were all close contenders. Something tells me that the people who were writing in for Baghdad are all in the 12 – 17 age group. But it must have been a massively organized effort to pull in so close.

“’We are delighted to be going to Toronto. We have such incredible fans there and we are amazed at such a positive reaction,’ the Spice Girls said in a statement.

“The Spice City competition was set up to give fans the chance to bring the band to their city for an “extra special performance,” the group said.

“Adding Toronto means Emma, Geri, Mel B, Melanie C and Victoria will now play 15 dates on their imminent world tour. The “Spice City” show will take place some time in January.

“The Spice Girls announced in late June that they were reforming, seven years after they split, and unveiled plans for a 10-date tour. Four more gigs were added to meet demand.

“Over 3 million people registered online to buy tickets, which promoters say suggests that up to 18 million fans want to see the five women in action again.

“Their revival tour kicks off in Vancouver in December, after which they will play cities including New York, London, Hong Kong, Sydney and Buenos Aires.”

Several media sources are covering this story as though the Spice Girls narrowly dodged a bullet. Something tells me that, had Baghdad won, something would have come up that made it impossible for them to perform. Just a hunch. I really would like to find out who was behind this whole Baghdad write-in. I really doubt the people of the Middle East were logging onto the Spice Girls website in droves to write in one of the most dangerous cities imaginable. One e-mailer on their website put it this way, “’I think they could get airlifted in to the Green Zone, play a surprise gig and get out with relative safety.’”

Well they say that the third time’s the charm; let’s hope that holds some truth for Lindsay Lohan. MSNBC is reporting that Lohan has checked into rehab in Sundance, Utah. I wonder if she realizes that it has nothing to do with the film festival, and she’s unlikely to score any good swag. Lohan will be staying at the Cirque Lodge drug and alcohol treatment center. Hopefully for a really, really long time.

“Cirque Lodge provides alcohol rehab and drug rehab treatment services at two main facilities: the Lodge and the Studio. I’m always surprised that so many luxurious spa-like rehab facilities exist across the country. My image of a drug addict is more “holed up in a rat-infested tenement on the Lower East Side.” Proportionally, there must be a small percentage of incredibly wealthy drug addicts that keep these places in business. Because I’m pretty sure that if you sent the average drug addict – no scratch that, if you sent the average non-drug user as well – to one of these places, they’d relapse on purpose. Actually, maybe that’s what Lohan’s doing. Several news agencies are reporting that she’s strapped for cash. Maybe she just wants some nicer digs. Alright so here’s the required, “Good luck in rehab, I hope you turn your life around!” statement. I’m sure it wont work because you’re a self-involved ego-maniac that has rage issues. We wish you the best!
