Model and actress Milla Jovivich, 31, is seven months pregnant with her first child, which is thought to be a girl. Unlike women who manage to stay inexplicably svelte with just a baby bump, like Bridget Moynahan, Jovivich has gained weight all over. She blogged that she’s gained 70 pounds during her pregnancy and that it comes from eating a lot of carbs.

i am so huge you guys! i’ve gained almost 70 pounds in the last 4 months! It’s unbelievable how quickly it all happened, all i did was eat three bagels every morning with butter, peanut butter and jelly all over them, a few boxes of crispy cream donuts for lunch and boom! i’m tipping the scale at 195! man, that came out of nowhere! lol! well maybe not completely out of nowhere! so now i’m completely going in the opposite extreme and eating nothing but chicken, fish and veggies with the closest thing to bread taking the form of oatmeal in the morning with just the teensiest bit of maple sugar to make it bearable… sigh! all i want is another box of donuts! well, only 8 more weeks to go and then hopefully i’ll start to get back to normal.

Jovovich is 5′8″ tall, so 195 pounds is big for a pregnant woman at that height, but not huge. I’m 5′7″ and I weighed about 195 right before my son was born. It was pretty uncomfortable for me and I was self conscious about it. My son was nearly 9 pounds when he was born, not that it’s an excuse for gaining that much weight. Eventually I lost it, but it took work and makes me realize I’ll have to be more careful not to balloon up if I have another one.

I didn’t know much about Jovovich up until now. She seems to have a great personality and comes across as funny and outspoken on her blog. Jovivich is currently starring in Resident Evil: Exinction, and the father of her baby is the director, Paul W.S. Anderson. Jovovich and Anderson are engaged and say they want to get married after the baby comes.

Jovivich is also a talented songwriter and singer, and offers free mp3s of her music on her website to download. She has a haunting voice and her songs are sparse and folksy. Wikipedia compares her style to Tori Amos and Kate Bush.

Hilary Swank, 33, has been dating her Creative Artists agent probably since April of 2006, when they were first spotted exercising together and looking flirty. Their relationship went public in August, 2006 when they were photographed on a romantic holiday in Rome.

Swank’s boyfriend, John Campisi, 40, was only separated from his wife of 11 years at the time his romance with Swank was made public last summer. Not only had he not yet filed for divorce at that time, at least four months after he started cheating or “exercising” with Swank, he even had a toddler at home.

It was Campisi’s wife who filed for divorce after receiving the public humiliation of seeing pictures of her husband kissing and holding hands with Swank on a romantic vacation in Italy.

Now their divorce is about to be made final, and Swank and Campisi plan to get married as soon as he’s legally available. After that, Swank is planning for a baby:

Hilary Swank is planning to marry her boyfriend and former agent John Campisi as soon as his divorce becomes final in a few weeks - and she wants to start a family right away, say sources.

Someone decided to go for the cheap and campy image for Paris Hilton’s new perfume, Can Can. She says in a clip on ETOnline.com, below, that they were trying for the Moulin Rouge look in the ad, but she looks more like a 1990s Barbie complete with faux gold plastic stand. Paris is wearing a horrible fushia dress adorned with purple feathers and sports a straight wig with plain bangs across her forehead. A big ‘ol rhinestone star accents her hair.

At this point Paris Hilton’s fashion probably influences Mattel as much as they influenced her, but in this case you would have to say Barbie came first. Paris strikes me as the kind of woman who watched The Little Mermaid over and over again as a child and still aspires to be that type of sweet, soft spoken female stereotype. She never really understood the subtlety involved in fashion or feminine sexuality, and just kind of pours it on sweetly thick. That’s kind of how I imagine her new perfume must smell, all gooey and sickening.

We can’t help but notice that her new ad bears a striking resemblance to the I Love Lucy Barbie Collector doll, right down to the stand with the heart behind it.

Shilpa Shetty wasn’t arrested in India and questioned at the Mumbai airport five months after her controversial forced kisses from Richard Gere on stage at an HIV/AIDS awareness event. Shilpa’s representative has said the reports of her being detained and questioned for that incident, deemed obscene by a court in India and punishable by a fine and up to three months in jail, were false.

They said the whole thing was misconstrued and that she just had to go into a side room to find her paperwork in order to let people in line get through. She wasn’t arrested at all.

It sounds like spin to me, but it could be true:

Yesterday the Press Association reported that the acctress was in tears after being detained at Mumbai Airport by immigration officials on her way to the opening of the Miss Bollywood musical in Berlin.

At the time her Indian spokesman, Dale Bhagwagar, said: “She called me in the middle of the night and was in tears.”

However now Shilpa’s UK spokeswoman Teji Singh has denied those claims.

She said: “Every time Shilpa leaves the country she has to show her paperwork, because of the Richard Gere thing.

“There was absolutely no detention, no arrest whatsoever. She was rummaging through to get her paperwork and just stepped aside to a side room so she wouldn’t block the queues.

“She wasn’t crying. She was bunged up with the flu and she was only in there for eight to 15 minutes.”

Yesterday JayBird reported that Richard Gere apologized for that kiss just recently, and that he had the support of the majority of the Indian legal community. Many lawyers and legal experts in India said the charge of obscenity was outrageous and was just done by a judge in Jaipur for publicity.

Shetty is the UK Big Brother contestant who won the contest after Jade Goody used racial epithets against her, causing a huge scandal. It seems there’s a lot of scandals around Shetty, and they’re only increasing her name recognition and career opportunities. She’s not doing anything wrong, though, and hopefully she didn’t get accosted at the airport.

Despite all the events she attends for the sake of saving the world, Angelina Jolie just wasn’t the right person to represent the serious St. John clothing brand and they have replaced her as their spokesperson. OK! Magazine quotes an insider as saying the conservative rich old ladies that usually buy their clothes weren’t quite pleased with seeing Angelina wearing them. (At least that’s how I interpreted it.)

Though reps for the fashion label say that no decision has been reached, OK! has exclusively learned that Angelina Jolie has been replaced as the face of St. John, for whom she’d been modeling since September 2005.

“Putting celebrities in campaigns is the biggest trend right now, everyone is doing it, but it didn’t work for St. John with Angelina,” a fashion industry insider explains to OK!. “The people that wear St. John just didn’t relate to her.”

Angelina made some good points at the Clinton Global Initiative annual meeting in NY yesterday. She’s trying to get funding for children’s education through the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, which she represents. She said that the cost of just 8 hours of the war in Iraq could provide education for 150,000 children. She was unveiling a plan to educate a million refugee and at risk children through the UN:

Hollywood star Angelina Jolie called for the world to get its “priorities in order” Wednesday, saying that the amount of money spent in Iraq in just a few hours could educate thousands of children.

“To put things into perspective and maybe help to understand why we maybe need to adjust the way we’re doing things in the world, the conflict in Iraq has displaced over four million people,” Jolie told reporters in New York.

She said an appeal by UNICEF, the UN’s fund for children, and the UN High Commissioner for Refugees to address the educational needs of many of those children was dwarfed by the cost of US military spending in Iraq.

“The entire appeal equals about eight hours of current spending in Iraq. So just a few hours would send 150,000 children to school,” she said.

“Nothing wins more hearts and minds and nothing gives more freedom than education and nothing is a better deterrent for conflict than an educated child,” she added, urging the world to get its “priorities in order.”

Jolie, who as well as being an Oscar-winning actress is a UN goodwill ambassador, was unveiling an almost 150-million-dollar programme to help educate one million children in conflict, refugee and emergency situations.

Angelina probably doesn’t give a shit if St. John is replacing her. She’s got plenty of money and more important things to work on. Good for her for breaking the cost of the war down into cost vs. benefits, because it’s much more reasonable to spend money on education and healthcare.

Meanwhile Brad Pitt is working on his own philanthropy. He pledged $5 million in matching contributions to the Make it Right project in New Orleans, which aims to build 150 affordable sustainable homes for residents displaced by flooding.

Nicole Richie has signed up for a year and half alcohol education program, called SB 38, according to People.com. She was ordered to attend alcohol education as part of her DUI sentencing, for which she also received three years probation, a $2,048 fine, and four days in jail, which was cut down to just 82 minutes when she showed up to serve her time on August 24.

It sounds like Richie will have to commit a lot of time to the program. The website for SB38 says she’ll have to do interviews with a counselor twice a week as well as put in 52 hours of group counseling. That’s an entire year of weekly one-hour sessions. She’ll also have to attend 12 hours of alcohol education. I wonder if she’ll see those shocking videos of car accident victims.

Multiple Offender Drinking Driver Program (SB-38), sometimes known as the SB-38 program, (named after the sponsoring Senate Bill 38 legislation) is for people who have been convicted of Driving Under the Influence (DUI) of alcohol or drugs on more than one occasion within a 7 year period. The program is 18 months in length and consists of 52 hours of group counseling, bi-weekly face –to- face interviews and 12 hours of alcohol education. Attendance at 12 step meetings is encouraged.

Whether or not the offender is ordered to go through the program by the court, he or she must complete it in order to get their drivers’ license returned. All multiple offenders have their licenses suspended or revoked for a period of 2-5 years. They must complete this state licensed program before the DMV will re-issue their license.

It sounds like Richie is just doing what she has to do to get her life back on track, something that Britney needs dire help with. She has sworn off all drugs, alcohol and cigarettes for the health of her baby and is even said to be planning a drug-free natural birth.

Meanwhile The National Enquirer reports that six months-pregnant Richie is having a boy, and that her fiance Joel Madden is ecstatic:

Matthew McConaughey, 37, and his girlfriend, Brazilian model Camilla Alves, 22, are currently in the romantic city of Paris and it looks like he might have chosen the same setting as Tom Cruise to pop the question. Camilla was seen with what looks suspiciously like an engagement ring on her left ring finger.

There was a story about a month ago that Matthew was going to propose to Camilla, and that he was planning to move out of his trailer on the beach and buy a mansion for her.

Matthew can certainly afford spacious digs. He is still getting plenty of movie roles and was just announced as the replacement for Owen Wilson in the comedy Tropic Thunder. According to IMDB, McConaughey has four movies coming out next year, and is announced for another that will be released in 2009. I wonder if he’ll squeeze a big wedding in there too.

Does this mean that Matty is settling down? Will he buy that mansion in Malibu instead of continuing to live out of an airstream trailer strewn with bachelor memorabilia? Time will tell. I would like to see him become a dad too, but considering how young his girlfriend is there’s certainly no hurry.

Thank God there are super random washed-up pop stars here to save slightly less random washed-up pop stars. The pop star community really is a lot more supportive than I’d realized. Joey Fatone, of Nsync, “Dancing with the Stars” and the “Singing Bee” fame (and I use fame in the loosest sense possible) wants to let Britney Spears know he’s there for her, and she can come and kick it with him in Orlando anytime she’d like. Spears used to tour with Nsync, and dated Justin Timberlake, back when he had the super-curly super bleached blond hair. So Joey’s reaching out isn’t totally random, but it’s not exactly personal. How do you or I reach out to an old friend in trouble? A phone call, a letter, maybe an email if we’re lazy and don’t really want to be too inconvenienced by the reaching out. How does Joey Fatone do it? Through “Extra.” Ahh, right to the heart of the matter.

Well why not put your faith in a guy who reaches out in such a personal manner? And really, who better to chill with than the guy who always beat up his sister in “My Big Fat Greek Wedding?” There are some people that just give you the vibe that they’re bad news or using other people, but Fatone seems pretty nice and normal. So despite my mockery, he probably has the best intentions. I just think his route is a little… self-serving. Frankly I’m amazed that Britney has received so much public support from celebrities – you’d think that, given her child-ignoring, drug-abusing ways, a lot of people would want to stay away from that train wreck. I say take a few people up on their offers and make yourself invisible for a while. Or else I’m going to keep writing about you Britney. And it’s just going to get bitchier.

Although it’s been reported that Ben Stiller had to (or chose to, who knows) fire good friend Owen Wilson from his upcoming movie “Tropic Thunder” after Wilson attempted suicide, it appears the two are at least on speaking terms. Stiller was on Ellen DeGeneres’ show on Friday, and said that, though he tries not to talk about it too much, Wilson is doing a lot better. I really hope reports that Stiller fired him aren’t true, as that would make him a giant douchebag, and a terrible friend. People have the right to react to a suicide attempt however they want to, but I can’t imagine anything that would be more thoughtless.

“Ben Stiller says things are looking up for his longtime pal and frequent costar Owen Wilson. ‘He’s doing really well,’ Stiller, 41, tells Ellen DeGeneres on her show Friday. ‘I sort of like to protect his privacy, ’cause I feel like it’s his own thing,’ says Stiller. ‘But he’s a really good friend of mine. He’s an incredible guy and I wish him as everybody does, all the best.’

“Wilson, 38, was set to begin shooting the comedy Tropic Thunder with Stiller this month, but was hospitalized on Aug. 26 for what police called a suicide attempt. He dropped out of the film after issuing a statement requesting that he be allowed to ‘receive care and heal in private during this difficult time.’

“Wilson’s withdrawal from the project – which is about actors on a war movie location where a real battle erupts – was reportedly a mutual decision between him and Stiller, and Matthew McConaughey has stepped in to join the ensemble cast that includes Jack Black, Robert Downey Jr. and Nick Nolte.

“Speaking at Thursday night’s Westwood premiere of his and his son’s latest movie, The Heartbreak Kid, Ben’s dad Jerry Stiller, 80, expressed concern for his son’s best friend and said he was ‘surprised’ to hear of Wilson’s apparent suicide attempt – but he was sure that Wilson would ‘recover.’

“‘I know that he’ll put his life together,’ the elder Stiller, who also costarred with Wilson in 2001’s Zoolander, told PEOPLE. He added that his son has been ‘very close to Owen for most of their careers, and that Ben had been an ‘advocate’ in ‘intervention and all that stuff.’”

So I guess they’re still going with the official “mutual decision” line about dropping out of the movie. That preserves everyone’s dignity. I wonder, when Jerry Stiller says that Ben has been an advocate for “intervention and all the stuff,” if he means in terms of Owen’s obvious depression, or his rumored drug/alcohol abuse. Hopefully Wilson will continue to get better, and has lots of loving and supportive people around him. As long as there are good people, he can get better and still have a really great career.

Farrah Fawcett’s cancer has returned, but she’s apparently stayed in pretty good health, everything considered. The actress is currently seeking alternative treatments in Germany, and is taping everything she’s doing for a possible documentary. The producer of her reality show “Chasing Farrah,” Craig Nevius, is currently with Fawcett overseas, and talked about the actress’s plans.

“‘She was declared 100 percent cancer free and then it came back,’ he says. ‘She was discouraged by the treatments she got here. The fact that it recurred after all that she went through was heartbreaking.’ He adds: ‘She has been in Germany. That’s true. She’s getting alternative treatments not allowed in the U.S.’

“Fawcett was originally diagnosed with anal cancer in September 2006. After undergoing chemotherapy and radiation treatments, she was declared cancer free by her doctors on Feb. 2, her 60th birthday. However, in May, doctors discovered that the cancer had returned. A malignant polyp, smaller than a pea, was found during a routine three-month checkup.

“The German magazine Bunte first reported that the actress is undergoing chemotherapy in the University Clinic in Frankfurt, combining the treatments with alternative healing methods in Bad Wiessee, in southern Germany. Contacted by PEOPLE, Ricarda Wessinghagen, a spokeswoman for the hospital, said: ‘I can confirm that Farrah Fawcett was here and was treated here, but I have no more information.’

“Nevius declined to reveal the nature of the treatment in Germany, but did say, ‘She’s been documenting everything in a video diary’ for ‘what could be a very important documentary.’”

I’m a big fan of alternative and complimentary medicine, though I think traditional medicine is still the best place to start. But in Fawcett’s situation, she’s already gone that route and wasn’t satisfied. I have a lot of respect for being open to other ideas and other forms of treatment. Hopefully Farrah will have kind of positive experience, even if she does eventually decide to go a more traditional route.
