Brad and Angelina are preparing another nursery, didn’t get invitro

brangelinanursery.jpg
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie might be staying quiet on the issue of whether a fuller-looking Angelina is pregnant, but they’re giving away some hints here and there. Reporters on the red carpet at the Santa Barbara film festival this weekend were instructed not to ask questions about Angelina’s rumored pregnancy. This week’s OK! Magazine says that little Shiloh Jolie-Pitt, who turns two on May 27, is moving to a new big girl room in the couple’s Malibu mansion, and that she leaving her nursery, which Brad and Angelina are redecorating in shades of yellow. OK! has enough specific details about the new nursery to make it seem like they do have a source and aren’t just making this up:

Angelina and Brad have been preparing for a second biological baby by moving Shiloh into another bedroom and redecorating the nursery. They tore down the current nursery in their multimillion-dollar Malibu mansion, which has been the room of 20-month-old daughter Shiloh. “Brad made floor plans to give Shiloh a bedroom with her own canopy bed,” a friend of the actor tells OK! According to an insider, “Brad drafted plans to change the nursery, which was a very modern girl’s room. They wanted a muted yellow neutral palette so they could have a blank slate for the next addition.” They moved all of Shiloh’s princess drawings, toys and powder pink curtains to another room closer to Maddox, Zahara and Pax. Shiloh is growing up, and they wanted to give her her own first “big girl” bed.

The freshly-painted nursery now houses a brand-new crib. A Jolie Pitt insider confirms, “They got a new crib, and Brad wants to completely change the nursery.”

[From OK! Magazine, print edition, February 11, 2008]

And contrary to the reports in the less reputable tabloid magazines that we love to devour, OK! doesn’t mention twins at all. They say that Brad and Angelina considered fertility drugs because this second pregnancy didn’t come as easily as the first, but that they decided to wait it out and were ultimately successful:

Shiloh’s birth was a piece of cake, but it took some old-fashioned practice to conceive their second natural-born baby. “Angelina was really upset that she couldn’t get pregnant,” a source close to the couple confides to OK! “She and Brad even discussed the possibility of fertility drugs, but they wanted to wait because they preferred not to have a multiple birth, and the changes of that were greater with fertility drugs.”

[From OK! Magazine, print edition, February 11, 2008]

Another detail that corroborates the “Angelina is Pregnant” rumor that is that Angelina is said to have ordered more of those maternity shirts that she wore all the time when she was pregnant with Shiloh.

OK! also says that Brad and Angelina want to have another girl to hang out with Shiloh before she gets too old to pal around with another sibling, but that Pax is hoping for a little brother.

I think the twins rumor originated with a post on paparazzi photo agency X17’s blog, which was picked up and spun into “invitro treatments to save marriage!” stories by a lot of the tabloids. The details on the fertility treatments were shaky, although it does seem likely that Angelina saw a nutritionist prior to getting pregnant as so many outlets have suggested.

She’s definitely looking pregnant, and we’ll have to see now how and when she choses to announce it. It is thought that she will make a decision to reveal her pregnancy with a high-paid exclusive interview and photo session with the proceeds going to charity. She made a $400,000 donation to Wyclef Jean’s Yele Haiti charity with the proceeds from her first pregnancy announcement. People bash Angelina for “pimping out her kids,” but she does good things with the money, and people want to see their pictures and read about them in the glossies.

Brad and Angelina are shown at the Santa Barbara Film Festival over the weekend, thanks to Splash, and the Screen Actors Guild awards on 1/27, thanks to PRPhotos.

Matthew McConaughey says he’s looking forward to changing diapers

alo-008681.jpg
Matthew McConaughey, 38, has been open and enthusiastic about the news that his girlfriend, 24 year-old Brazilian model Camila Alves, is pregnant. He made the announcement on his blog, (link has automatic music) saying “yes, my girlfriend Camila and I made a baby together… it’s 3 months growin in her womb and all looks healthy and lively so far… we are stoked and wowed by this miracle of creation and this gift from God.”

Celebrity Baby Blog has an interview up with Matt and his Fool’s Gold co-star Kate Hudson talking parenthood with Entertainment Tonight. Matt revealed that Camila is about five months along and said that they aren’t going to find out the sex of the baby ahead of time. He said he overheard the doctor referring to their baby as “he” and that he had to work not to jump to conclusions about it. As for how he’s going to handle fatherhood, Matt said that he’s heard that “whatever plans you make, throw them out the window,” but that he’s “got the instincts for it.”

In an question and answer section in this week’s In Touch, Matt revealed more about how he feels about the upcoming baby, and you have to admire the guy. He’s gung ho about it, and says that having a baby makes him feel younger. He said he’s looking forward to every day, and that he’s “absolutely” going to be changing diapers. One thing that made me smile, though, is how he answers the question about how his life is going to change by saying the kid will fit right in. He’s in for a wild ride:

Do you feel more like a grown-up now that you have a baby on the way?
I actually feel younger. Even with Camilla just being pregnant now, parenthood has begun. The way I think about the future has already shifted. There’s a lot more “we” instead of just “me” and that feels good.

Do you expect your life will change much?
I think there are a lot of things you don’t change in your life when you have a child. The child has to come in and be a part of the life that you have…

Will you be a disciplinarian?
It’s hard to imagine myself saying things like, “I’m not going to explain it again,” or my all-time favorite, “You better get back in bed, get up on the other side of it, and get back in this kitchen with a new attitude!” I better get prepared.

What are you most looking forward to?

Every single day.

Will you be changing diapers?
Absolutely. I’ve been an uncle for a while, so I know a little bit about the art of diaper-changing. Once you get the hang of it, it’s a breeze.

[From In Touch, print edition, February 11, 2008]

McConaughey said he’s not going to stop doing stunts for his movies just because he’s a dad, and said again that he’s not making any grand plans and will rely on his instincts when the baby arrives.

I love the quote he gave about how “You better get back in bed and get up on the other side!” You can imagine his mom saying that, and it’s funny as anything. His mom recently wrote on his journal: “Drinking from my saucer, because my cup is indeed overflowing with news of this new baby!”

McConaughey has a reputation as a mellow, friendly guy who can have some wild parties when he’s inclined, but who doesn’t get in trouble and keeps himself in check with a lot of exercise. He is getting accolades for his new clean-cute look, with a shorter hairstyle and a shave, and people think that his upcoming fatherhood has influenced him to clean up his appearance. He’s about to see how much life really can change when a child enters the picture, and he seems more than happy to accept the challenge.

Matthew and Camila are shown at the Fool’s Gold premiere on 1/30/08, thanks to PRPhotos.

George Clooney talks Hollywood’s golden age, implies current movies suck

alo-006824.jpg
George Clooney has a new interview with London’s Telegraph in which he indirectly bemoans the lack of high quality films coming out of Hollywood today. He says that in the past there was a strong focus on quality films with compelling plots, and that Hollywood was at its best between 1964 and 1976 when he said there were “ten films a year that were masterpieces.” While he doesn’t directly say it, Clooney clearly implies that they just don’t make ‘em like that anymore. The Telegraph calls it a “thinly disguised attack,” so don’t go saying I’m putting words in his mouth:

In a thinly-disguised attack on the modern-day values of Hollywood, the 46-year-old makes clear his belief that computer-generated imagery and visual pyrotechnics are no substitute for a good story.

Clooney places the glory years of cinema firmly between 1964 and 1976 when he says studios produced almost a masterpiece a month and directors like Stanley Kubrick, Francis Ford Coppola, Martin Scorsese, Alan J. Pakula and Sidney Lumet pushed new boundaries.

“It’s 12 years and you could find ten films a year that are masterpieces,” the actor told the Radio Times. “They don’t make those films anymore. You couldn’t come near making those films.”

Clooney’s conviction is such that a few years ago he gave each of his friends a gift of 100 DVDs from his favourite 12-year golden period.

They included Cold War classics like Fail-Safe, The Spy Who Came in From the Cold and Dr Strangelove as well as Bound for Glory, a biographical film about the folk singer Woody Guthrie.

He also loves Network, Lumet’s satire about a television network’s struggle for ratings and Scorsese’s Taxi Driver with its standout performance by Robert De Niro.

[From The Telegraph]

Clooney also lauds the 1960s and 70s as a golden era in which celebrities were “leading the charge in the civil rights movement and the women’s rights movement and the Vietnam War movement,” and says that it then “got to this place where it probably wasn’t a good idea.” As for the upcoming election, Clooney says that he supports democratic candidate Barack Obama and would do fundraisers for him, but that it’s up to the candidate how involved Clooney gets in the campaign.

Commentor Walt O’Brien on the Telegraph article notes that great films might have longevity, but they aren’t big money-makers at the box office, and that the studios were nearly broke after they created all those masterpieces:

Erm, people tend to forget that all the major studios, while rendering superb product to an ungrateful public, were going completely broke by the end of the 1970’s. Some already had, starting with MGM in 1969 or so. Paramount uses the “Star Wars” theme as its trademark because that potboiling, low-budget canful of wasted plastic, replete with drug-propelled cast, improbable script, idiotic premises, and impossible events (how can you hear cannon and Death Stars going off and exploding in the complete vacuum which is space, please?) saved the studio from shutting its doors altogether.

People don’t BUY masterpieces, they buy trash. They don’t want insight into their lives or a higher vision of metaphysical wonderfulness, they don’t want to be editifed, they want to laugh until they pee themselves or have a good weep, and above all, look up the female lead’s skirt.

Cinema’s trash. It’s instantaneous media. A script is 100 pages, max 120, and about 2,500 words of dialogue at the most. It’s supposed to be.

[Comment found on Telegraph.co.uk]

Clooney has a valid point that the current films suck compared to what used to come out of Hollywood, but if he’s so concerned about it he should put his money where his mouth is instead of investing in risky casino ventures that never get off the ground. He may be doing just that - he co-produced, helped write and starred in the comedy Leatherheads, which is out on April 4. We’ll see if Clooney surpassed the generally low standards for modern films, and if it makes money at the box office. It’s got to be a challenge to create a decent, smart film that also draws crowds and it looks like Clooney made a comedy for that reason.

While Clooney can be mildly chastised for complaining about an industry that made him rich, at least he’s working to change it. He tried to set up a “Mediation Panel” to help resolve the strike amicably between the writers and studios.

Clooney has been keeping himself busy with more pressing issues, and spent two weeks last month touring war-torn nations in Africa with the UN at his own expense. When he tried to speak in a UN meeting about it, some countries’ representatives objected and he ended up giving a statement to reporters gathered outside. He said that the nation of Chad is worse than when he visited it two years ago, that Sudan is not much better and that “the world is watching, and that at this point we cannot afford to fail.”

So if anyone wants to talk some well-deserved crap about the never-ending sequels that Hollywood churns out, it seems like Clooney is more than credible. We found this story on Fark.com, though, where the title read “Star of ‘Ocean’s 11 through 19′ says modern films are rubbish.”

Lance Armstrong owes up to getting in bouncer’s face

lance1.jpg
When I first saw the headline for this story on The Huffington Post, which reads “Lance Armstrong Throws A Hissy Fit At Texas Bar,” I assumed it was a clearcut case of a celebrity acting like an ass and thinking that the world should bend over backwards for them. Other examples of celebrities getting shot down when they demanded special treatment at drinking establishments include Sienna Miller’s “Don’t You Know Who I Am?” shriek in Pittsburgh when she was denied for lack of ID, and Woody Harrelson’s drunken bloody fight with two bouncers after he was told not to leave with wineglasses in hand.

The story is that Armstrong was sternly told by the bouncer at a sold-out Austin show at a bar not to leave with a drink. He then got all up in the bouncer’s face with the old “I’ll have you fired” line. In this version of events, Armstrong comes off as an asshole with a sense of entitlement, but at least he wasn’t physically abusive.

Backstage door man Sean Higgins, obviously not concerned with the celebrity of the person who was breaking the law, quickly ran over to Armstrong and his pal and rather forcefully made it clear that the guys could not walk off with drinks. Armstrong at first seemed surprised and briefly cordial, but that soon gave way to fierce indignation. Having taken the drinks from Armstrong and friend, Higgins returned to his post at the door. But, possibly due to being called out in front of a few dozen people, Armstrong, apparently having taken exception to the manner in which Higgins was performing his job, would not go quietly into that good night.

He returned to the door, full of sound and fury. Higgins, who has worked at the Backstage Bar for four-and-a-half years, made it quite clear that he had no interest in Armstrong’s celebrity or defense of his actions. Armstrong, not willing to drop the issue, flailingly tried to retake whatever sense of pride he apparently felt was taken from him, by berating Higgins while his friends stood at his side. With a finger that came inches from Higgins’ face, Armstrong, according to Higgins, let loose a series of threats that concluded with the time-worn threat of “You’ll never work at this bar again.” Higgins, who apparently didn’t get the memo that nobody puts Lance in the corner, scoffed at the irate Armstrong, who then left to a series of under-breath cat calls and one patron labeling Armstrong as overrated (the cleanest of the insults softly launched his way.) Bizarre end to an excellent night. I’m sure Higgins is on Career Builder as I type. (Not really.)

[From Austin360.com]

It sounds like Armstrong was provoked but that he didn’t handle it well. What he did handle with grace was a follow-up statement. Armstrong called the author of the original blog article on Austin 360, which is the Entertainment section of Austin newspaper The Austin American Statesman, and owed up to the incident and apologized. He also gave his side of the story, saying he was manhandled but that he overreacted. He could have had his publicist fax in a statement to US Weekly, but he personally called the author and it comes off as much more sincere:

“Listen, I was totally out of line,” Armstrong said.

Although Armstrong says he was in the wrong, he felt that the door man in question could have handled the situation better, as well. “You know, give us a warning. He walked over and nearly tackled us as if he had warned us four or five times. He was so aggressive without any warning. Believe me, man, if somebody says, ‘You can not take these beers out of here,’ I’ll just throw them away or go back inside. I’ve got no problem with that. I wasn’t looking for any special rules or treatment.”

Armstrong confessed that despite feeling he wasn’t given any warning before being confronted, he should have responded differently. “I don’t need to do that (respond the way he did), though. Two wrongs don’t make a right.”

[From Austin360.com]

The Huffington Post didn’t link directly to the source, they linked to another reporting site, Austinist, which has not yet updated with Armstrong’s statement of contrition, so it’s likely that this story might get picked up by other outlets and reported with only one side. It was a minor incident at a crowded bar with an overzealous bouncer, but since a celebrity is involved it’s big news. At least Armstrong responded well afterwards and it never came to blows.

Armstrong is shown below running the 2007 NY Marathon, which he finished in under three hours. It was his second marathon after running the same course in 2006, and he finished 13 minutes faster after a lot of training. 36 year-old Armstrong is arguably the worlds most celebrated cyclist, having won the Tour De France seven years in a row, from 1999 to 2005. He has repeatedly been accused of using performance-enhancing drugs, but only tested positive once in 1999 for traces of corticosteroids. He had a medical certificate showing that he used a topical steroid cream that was authorized to treat saddle sores.

Armstrong is now retired from cycling and trained for the marathon in order to keep up his physical condition. He called the 2006 marathon “the hardest physical thing I have ever done.” He is a cancer survivor after undergoing successful treatment for testicular cancer in 1996, and went on to found the Lance Armstrong Foundation to benefit cancer patients.

Armstrong is shown in the header at Stand Up For Skateparks on 10/7/07. Thanks to PRPhotos for these pictures.

Britney’s cries for help: new cars, new houses, long drives, hotel stays

Many of us thought that Britney’s ever-present “friend”/self-proclaimed manager, Sam Lutfi, was bad news, especially when the news got out last week that he’s had up to three restraining orders against him and that he harassed, controlled, and threatened a friend with blackmail and violence against his family. Now that Britney’s mother’s statement about how she witnessed Lutfi drugging, emotionally abusing, and bragging about how he controlled her daughter has been released, people realize how much of a choke hold he had over her. People are also re-evaluating Britney’s behavior over the past few months.

It came out in Lynn’s statement that Lutfi had disabled Britney’s many cars and phones, and that he had the security guard, paparazzi, and Britney’s business manager answering to him. He also apparently even won over her divorce attorneys, which would explain why she hired someone else to represent her at the hearing for guardianship of her estate.

Commentor CeeJay on our earlier post about Lynn’s statement mentioned that all this would explain why Britney always stayed in hotels, was seen wandering around outside her house, and drove around aimlessly for hours. Lutfi had moved into Britney’s mansion and she was afraid to return home to that awful situation.

Lynn’s statement also makes it clear why Britney might be compelled to buy so many new cars and even a new home. When Lutfi disabled one of her vehicles, she simply bought a new one. It was also likely that she was trying to get a house where he couldn’t control her.

Britney didn’t seem coherent when her mother saw her the night before she was hospitalized, but she was aware of one thing. She specifically asked her mom to switch glasses with her when Lutfi poured the wine, which suggests that she knew that he was drugging her by slipping pills in her food and drink. He even bragged to Britney’s mom that he would mash up pills and mix them into her food.

While Britney may have been too drugged out to make sound decisions, she was letting us know in her own way that things were unbearable at home and that she could not return there. This woman wasn’t making the most sound or mature decisions on her own, and was thought to be showing signs of bipolar disorder when she shaved her head early last year. She seemed incapable of caring for her children, and lost custody of her two toddlers in October of last year, presumably right before she met Lutfi, and was only allowed supervised visits. She was thought to be at risk for suicide at that time. Lutfi stepped in and took over for an already-troubled Britney, and she was poisoned, manipulated and made a prisoner in her own home, ultimately losing visitation rights with her children.

Update: Thanks to reader Exyank for noting that Lutfi has been in Britney’s life much longer than the restraining order states, and that he has known her since late 2006/early 2007. A controlling, abusive relationship with Lutfi could potentially explain how Britney really lost it after breaking up with K-Fed and her brief friendship with Paris Hilton afterwards.

Britney and one of her boys are shown in the header in October, 2007. She is shown below with Sam in December.

Jessica Alba talks about ghosts, kicking her boyfriend out of home

alo-008782.jpg
Jessica Alba has a new movie out which is scary, so she has to share a scary story on her press junket. Normally these are kind of lame, but this one actually is truly scary.

Alba, 26, recalled: “I had no idea what it was. I felt this pressure and I couldn’t get up, I couldn’t scream, I couldn’t talk, I couldn’t do anything.

“Something definitely took the covers off me and I definitely couldn’t get off the bed, and then, once I did, I screamed, ran to my parents’ room and I don’t think I spent many nights in that house ever again!

“There was definitely something in my parents’ old house - I don’t know what it was. I can’t really explain it. But they got it blessed and they burned sage and stuff since then.”

Sydney Morning Herald

Burning sage protects from ghosts? What?

I think everyone on earth has a ghost story to share, because we all think we feel or see something in the night at least once. Of course, the protection you normally seek out when too old to run to your parents room (is 17 too old?) is to hide under the covers. Which is ridiculous – how is a sheet going to stop a ghost when they are known to able to pass through walls? Or an axe murderer with an, er, axe? Yeah, that sheet just stops you from seeing what is going to get you. Good night, sleep tight readers…

Jessica also says that pregnancy is playing havoc with her hormones. My father-in-law likes to point out about every other week that if you weren’t pregnant all those hormones in your system would kill you. I have no idea if it’s true, but I kind of believe it.

“I think I threw him (boyfriend Cash Warren) out of the house twice already since I’ve been pregnant. He’s like, ‘Are you just pregnant? I hope you’re just pregnant and acting crazy,’ and I’m like, ‘It has nothing to do with that,’” the ‘Fantastic Four’ actress says.

“Little things make me so mad. He calls five minutes later than he said he was going to. You get so emotional when you’re pregnant, and so irrational. It’s totally dumb.”

AHN

You know, Jessica seems to be putting a lot down to hormones, could it be possible that her relationship isn’t as sunny as she pretends. After all, she and Cash did break up just before her pregnancy, and I don’t hear him blabbing to all who will listen about his pregnancy joy and how great her new boobs are. Also, don’t kick him out to often – living with a rampaging crazy pregnant woman might just be enough to make him not want to come back.

Jessica had a baby shower, hosted by Tyra Banks on her talk show. If she’s not careful we’re all going to be tired of this pregnancy before she has a chance to sell the baby photos.

Picture note by Celebitchy: Jessica Alba and Cash Warren are shown at the premiere of The Eye on 1/31/08, thanks to PRPhotos.

Kylie Minogue and Oliver Martinez not together again

kyliehome1.jpg
Can it be possible that the British tabloids have got it wrong? Only yesterday we reported that Kylie Minogue was spotted with handsome ex-boyfriend Olivier Martinez, and speculation was rife that she had a new life plan, complete with marriage and babies. Now it seems that their un-named source was wrong! As we reported, Kylie and Ollie were meant to be together again, after a year apart, and planning “to start a family, to marry her and to settle down.”

But, Kylie today released her new range of linen for your home, and denied the reports at her launch. It seems a bit coincidental that the range came out the same week as the rumours - was it a clever ploy to get more publicity?

Minogue told the Press Association: “I had dinner with my ex-boyfriend and next thing I know there’s a debate about whether we’re having a family. “We didn’t even talk about that. As I’ve maintained, we’re friends.”

Press Association

I’m actually not surprised about this, and according to relationship advice gurus, it’s a bad idea.

Paula Hall, relationship psychotherapist for Relate, said, “I don’t think there’s anything wrong in going back to your ex as long as you have resolved the problems which caused the break-up in the first place.

“Some couples get to the point of a break-up before they realise what they really want and it gives them the motivation to resolve their problems.”

But she said people should not return to a former partner just to have a family. “To get back together purely to have a baby is not necessarily a good idea – it depends on your expectations for both the relationship and parenting.”

icWales

That’s probably not bad advice, considering the stress a baby places on everyone around it!

Can you believe that Kylie is releasing a range of goods for your home? You can now not only listen to Kylie, but smell like her, wear her undies and swimsuits, and sleep with her sheets. How does she have time to actually maintain a music career? It’s probably a good thing that Kylie isn’t having a baby, as she’d have no time to raise the little one. Although, a rage of tiny Kylie Baby clothes would be really cute…

The new range of linens include bedding, towels, cushions and curtains in luxury fabrics and covered in sequins, diamantes and semi-precious stones. It is called At Home With Kylie.

Picture note by Celebitchy: Kylie Minogue is shown at the launch of At Home With Kylie in London yesterday, thanks to PRPhotos.

Eric Dane had skin cancer

ericdane1.jpg
I picked up the latest issue of Marie Claire Australia this week, the one where nude, pregnant Christina Aguilera is knocked off the cover by some chick that won Miss Universe, and it’s totally devoted to skin cancer and how to avoid getting it. Normally after reading a women’s magazine I feel like going out and buying some new shoes and maybe trying a new hair colour, after reading this one I feel like taking my (fake) tanned hide down to the hospital and updating my life insurance. Zooming in on my newfound paranoia about the fact that I obviously am going to die of skin cancer before I’m 30, is Eric Dane, McSteamy himself, who has recently recovered with his own brush with death. And selling the story to OK!

“I went to my dermatologist,” Eric reveals in an exclusive interview in the new issue of OK!. But the last thing the 35-year-old expected was to be diagnosed with skin cancer. “He said it was malignant tissue caused by sun damage.”

The malignancy was treated by freezing the cancerous tissue off with liquid nitrogen. Unfortunately for Eric, the actor had a severe reaction to a cream given to him for his lip after the treatment . “My skin is very sensitive,” the actor most famous for playing Dr. Mark “McSteamy” Sloan, explains to OK!, “and my lip was traumatized by the procedure I had to go through.”

His lip’s overreaction to the medication created a painful scenario that made eating difficult, if not impossible. “I didn’t eat very well for a couple of weeks and lost a bunch of weight,” Eric explains, estimating that he dropped at least 10 pounds off his 6′1″ frame while dealing with his cancer.

“Skin cancer is the most common form of cancer in the United States,” Dr. Micki Ly, a Maui, Hawaii-based dermatologist, explains to OK!. “More than a million cases are diagnosed annually.” But Eric was extremely wise to act quickly in dealing with it, she says. “The mouth is a bad area for a malignancy because they spread faster in mucosal areas, of which the mouth is one.”

OK! Magazine

It’s not only the middle aged and elderly that get skin cancer, but also people as young as twenty can suffer from skin cancer as a result of sun exposure. Recently an Australian 25-year-old woman actually died after repeated exposure to a solarium. I thought they were safe.

If you want to get checked out for skin cancer, check out the Cancer Council website. It tells you how to identify possible melanomas. Interestingly, Marie Claire says that that one of the most common places to get skin cancer is on the soles of your feet, because who remembers to put sunscreen there?

Oh, and Eric Danes has nothing to worry about. He is still completely McSteamy, and is almost cute enough for me to join in on the Grey’s Anatomy obsession everyone seems to have right now.

Note by Celebitchy: I am a very fair-skinned person and freckle and burn easily. Every winter I will do about 3-4 tanning bed sessions total in order to get some sun and boost my mood. Last week, though, I went to a new tanning salon and stupidly asked for 12 minutes on a medium-strength bed, because it was the lowest option listed on the board. I should have asked for 4-5 minutes, which is what I normally do. Of course I got a bad burn, my first in over ten years, and that m’fckr hurt! It is healthy to get some moderate sun for the vitamin D, but use sunscreen and don’t abuse the tanning beds.

Eric Dane is shown in the header at the Primetime Emmy Awards on 9/16/07, and below at the Glamour Magazine “Women of the Year Awards” on 11/5/07, thanks to PRPhotos.

Baby Dannielynn visits her mother Anna Nicole’s grave, whispers “Momma”

birkheaddannielynn.jpg
Larry Birkhead brought his 17 month-old daughter, Dannielynn, to the grave site of her mother, the infamous departed Anna Nicole Smith, in the Bahamas yesterday for the first anniversary of her death. He just happened to dress the tot in her finest and bring along a television crew. The touching moment when Dannielynn whispered “momma” and laid a pink toy on the grave of the mother she’ll only know from videos and photos was captured for the benefit of the curious masses and will be broadcast on Entertainment Tonight.

February 5, 2008 (Los Angeles, CA)– ENTERTAINMENT TONIGHT’s JANN CARL was exclusively with Larry Birkhead and daughter Dannielynn this week in Nassau, Bahamas as the 17-month-old made her first trip back to visit her mother and brother’s graves, one year after her mother’s sudden death.

In an a multi-part interview to begin airing on Wednesday, February 6th, Birkhead says the visit is difficult for him, but he arranged it for his daughter, “It’s tough. Even though she doesn’t understand, it was important for us to come. One day I can tell her that we went to visit her mom.” When they arrived at the unmarked gravesites, Dannielynn placed a pink toy turtle on Anna Nicole’s plot and whispered, “mama.”

On why the graves of Anna Nicole and Daniel are without tombstones, Birkhead says, “A rough draft came back with a sketch of a picture I didn’t care for. I could just hear her hitting me over the head saying, ‘Why did you let that picture go down!?’” Birkhead reveals that the design of the headstone will be “so grand and big. It’s going to encompass Daniel’s stone too.”
When asked how he feels about making the journey from Los Angeles to Nassau, Birkhead speaks candidly, “I don’t like the fact that they’re here, I never did. I know that Daniel didn’t want to be here and I know that his mother was only here because of what was going on between us with the paternity question. To me it feels really odd.” On if he has considered moving the graves, he says, “I’m going to leave the decision to Dannielynn when she’s older. It would probably be very hard, if not impossible to take both of them and I definitely don’t want to separate them.”

In an effort to keep Anna’s memory alive for their daughter, Birkhead tells ET, “I keep a lot of memories around. I quiz her and she knows Mama. I say, ‘Where’s Mama?’ and she’ll give Mama a kiss on the picture.”

What I want to know is - how are they going to spread this out into a multi-part interview? She’s dead, it’s hard, your daughter doesn’t understand, end of story. I mean you feel for people’s pain but what else is there to say?

Part of me doesn’t want to hate on Birkhead. The guy is a former paparazzo who really does care about his daughter and fought hard to win custody of her. He’s also obviously not adverse to using his daughter to make a buck and he’s probably running low on cash now that his deals are drying up and he has all those legal bills he’s contesting. (It seemed like he really got fleeced by that lawyer Debra Opri, and he’s probably paying someone a lot of money to fight that case. He also probably has to pay for those grand gravestones he’s ordering for Anna Nicole and Daniel.)

Birkhead has told The NY Daily News that he plans to sue over yet another book about Anna Nicole, “Anna Nicole Smith: Portrait of an Icon,” which is currently available for download for $15. The book was written by a fashion designer for Anna Nicole and his partner. The designer alleges that he met Birkhead at a camp for HIV positive youth and that he was quite open about his preference for men.

Birkhead also said that author Rita Cosby would be sued for a book about Anna Nicole that came out last year called “Blonde Ambition: The Untold Story Behind Anna Nicole Smith’s Death” which claimed that Birkhead and creepy Anna hanger-on Howard K Stern were gay lovers. It was Stern who ended up suing Cosby to the tune of $60 million.

The inquest into Anna’s son Daniel’s death is underway. The coroner testified that 20 year-old Daniel’s death a year and a half ago couldn’t have been an accident, which suggests murder or suicide. He had too much methadone in his system for it to have not been intentional. Many people suspect Anna’s lawyer, Howard K Stern, had a hand in Daniel’s untimely demise. Anna’s death less than six months later was ruled an accidental overdose.

As for whether it’s news that Dannielynn went to her mom’s grave before she’s even two, I doubt it. Take some sweet pictures and do the interview at home or go to the park and play. Go to Disneyworld and get all your meals, admission and hotel stay comped while trying to score some cash for a cross-promotional deal. The kid won’t remember that either, but at least it will be fun for her.

Christina Aguilera’s first post-baby pics

Christina Aguilera made her first public appearance yesterday after the birth of her son Max. Christina stopped by her polling place to vote in the Super Tuesday primaries, then went to a Best to sign copies of her new DVD set “Back to Basics: Live and Down Under.” Xtina said she’s been going a little stir crazy and was glad to get out of the house.

In a radio interview prior to the appearance, she gushed about her “incredible” son and said she is already inspired to write a new album.

“This whole incredible thing that’s taken part in my life, between the pregnancy and the birth, I’ve got so much to be inspired about and so much in my life to write about. I’ve been brain-storming for the last nine months, actually. This next album will have a whole new me, so there’s a lot to look forward to.”

The 27-year-old says she and husband Jordan Bratman reveling in parenthood: “It’s still the first couple of weeks, every week something new happens. It’s constant changing and he’s constantly changing and doing these incredibly cute things - and stinky things.”

Christina also said she wasn’t mad at Paris Hilton for announcing her pregnancy for her. She said that Paris did “kind of jump the gun a little on it,” but that she didn’t do it with malice so everything was good. The Daily Mail, which is normally really critical of people’s appearances, complimented Christina’s “slimmed down” appearance. I have a strict policy about not making fun of people for their weight, but while Christina looks good, I don’t think she looks “slimmed down.” Aside from the fact that there’s no longer another person living in her stomach, which helps. She looks healthy and normal and generally how I’d expect a mother to look after giving birth less than a month ago. When you see those celebrities out in public a week or two after they’ve given birth looking slimmer than ever, that sets an unreasonable expectation. Christina looks good, healthy, and like she grabbed the wrong tube of lipstick.

Here’s video of Christina voting and signing CDs at Best Buy. Images thanks to Splash. Header image thanks to the Daily Mail.
