Emo kids the world over are apparently struggling in their fight to be accepted. And hugged. Emo kids – for those of you not in the know – are the tight-black jean and heavy eyeliner wearing pseudo-depressed kids that listen to equally depressing music and take sad pictures of themselves to post on their MySpace pages. Emo is slang for emotional. There’s a lot more to it than that (apparently) but there’s a quick run-down of the subculture for you. More and more often Emo kids have been the target of bullies in schools – picked on for their sensitive natures. Apparently the desire to beat up kids that cry too easily is universal, as Emo kids in Mexico and Chile are getting the crap beaten out of them.

A wave of violence against emo kids is spreading across Mexico, with the music fans being attacked by mobs in the street, and further threats of large-scale attacks in Tijuana during the forthcoming Feria de San Marcos, the annual national fair. The attacks are reportedly coming from metal, punk and rockabilly music fans who dislike the emo look and attitude, according to LA Weekly’s Daniel Hernandez.

The violent attacks are partly being blamed on an on-air rant by ‘Televisa’ TV personality Kristoff who recently called emo ‘fucking bullshit’. Kristoff subsequently called for an end to the violence but it is thought he make take the fall if the government blames Televisa for the trouble. On March 7 around 800 young people in the city of Querataro amassed against emos in the city resulting in many violent attacks, and a week later a similar incident occurred in Mexico City. Emos in both cities responded to the attacks by marching peacefully through the center of the cities.

Emo kids in Chile are also being beaten up for the same reason. I’m a big fan of the peaceful protest, but in most cases, if bullies want beat you up, they’re going to beat you up. Believe me, ignoring them because your mom told you that’s the best route rarely works. Though it might lesson the bullying a bit, who knows. I know they’re dorks - and way too into looking deep and sad when they’re the same as everyone else – but I feel badly for the emo kids. Most of them are just trying out different personas to see what works for them. Give them a year and they’ll be back to wearing khakis. Okay maybe not, but they probably will be less annoying. Maybe. Hopefully. Seriously though, kids are so into their music that they have to beat up other kids for being into a difference scene? That’s ridiculous. Back in my day, we had worthy feuds. East Coast versus West Coast, now that was music to fight about. Emo versus punk? Ridiculous.

Democratic presidential nomination hopeful Senator Barack Obama was on “The View” this morning and had an amazing interview. The first part of the interview focused on Obama’s longtime reverend, Jeremiah Wright, and the anti-American comments Wright has made over the course of his career. Obama hasn’t renounced Wright, but hasn’t wholeheartedly defended him either. He explained that when he joined the church, he didn’t have his revered vetted. Wright was a powerful speaker and Obama was generally just another member of the congregation. He and his wife Michelle were married in Wright’s church and their daughters were baptized there, but as he pointed out, he hadn’t read every church bulletin, or gone over Wright’s old sermons. He also pointed out that a key point is that Wright is retired now, so it’s not as though there needs to be a call for him to step down from anything. Obama did a good job of gracefully walking a very fine line.

In the second part of the interview, host Whoopi Goldberg ask Barack Obama what the first three things are that he’d do in office. Obama replied that he would start withdrawing the troops from Iraq, and doing his best to make sure it was done in a safe and fair manner for both the troops and Iraqis. He said he didn’t think the Iraqis were going to take responsibility for their own country as long as American troops were there. Obama said the second thing he would do is work on getting healthcare for every American, and even went so far to say that for people that didn’t have healthcare, the government would offer plans similar to the healthcare he has as a senator. He pointed out how important it is to return to a focus on preventative health care, which over the long-term saves costs. Finally he said he’d deal with America’s energy crisis, focusing on developing new technology to lesson our reliance on foreign oil.

Some of Obama’s most powerful remarks came in the final part of the interview, where he talked about the differences and similarities between republicans and democrats. He noted, “I am not somebody who believes that the democrats have a monopoly on wisdom,” and said that he would consider having republicans in his cabinet. He also made a dig at President Bush, saying, “I’ve got some very strong views about how we need to move the country forward, but I don’t presume I’m right all the time; I want to listen to people – something that I think our current president hasn’t done – [and] get a diversity of opinion.” Obama also touched on one of his common themes of optimism and hope, and the unity he feels Americans actually have, noting, “The one thing I’m convinced of as I travel around the country is we have so much more in common than what drives us apart.”

George Clooney’s girlfriend Sarah Larson always looks so well put together and seems rather demur and classy. But it’s been clear from the time she and George began attending events together that she’s definitely a girl with a wild side. Supposedly the pair met when he dined at a Las Vegas restaurant where Sarah was a waitress. But the beautiful brunette has a history that’s much more colorful than all that. According to Star, Sarah worked as a go-go dancer and was often paid to attend parties and look pretty with her sexy girlfriends. Wow, there wasn’t a single part of that sentence that didn’t make me want to throw up.

“Sarah looks like she totally belongs, walking down the red carpet on George’s arm,” a source close to her tells Star. “She’s even been described as having a successful runway and print modeling career. But until recently, her modeling career consisted mostly of being paid by promoters for clubs, magazines and radio stations to attend special events in sexy outfits and party with her wild girlfriends! “Sarah is outgoing and fun and loves to drink. She likes to get wasted when she goes out — but hey, that’s what Vegas is all about!”

In one risqué set of photos taken in July 2007 — one month after she first met George, 46, at the Palms resort — Sarah, 29, is wearing a short dress and has her legs wrapped around a man holding her up against a wall in the middle of a crowded Vegas nightclub. The next day, Sarah — who appears to be drunk — is pictured wearing a bikini at a huge, outdoor pool party at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, kneeling on all fours with her backside in the air as she licks the cover of a magazine lying on the ground. Somehow this version of Sarah Larson makes a lot more sense to me, in terms of George Clooney. Sure George seems to place the most emphasis on beauty, but the demure type just doesn’t seem to hold his attention for long. And for ten months is probably some sort of record. Jack and Kelly Osbourne were on ABC’s “2020″ last night and talked about their battles with addiction. Jack, 22, says he’s been sober for 5 years and that he still struggles with urges to drink. Kelly, 23, wouldn’t specify how long she’s been sober after three stints in rehab, and says that as soon as she starts to count time that’s when the bad thoughts creep in, telling her it’s ok to get high again.

Kelly was the one who did most of the talking and who seems to be still battling her demons. After watching this I have a lot more respect and sympathy for her. She was very candid about what she’s been through.

Kelly’s early start: Vicodin at 13
Kelly said that she first experimented with drugs at 13 and took Vicodin. She said it silenced all the self conscious thoughts in her head telling her she wasn’t good enough. All the negative coverage of her weight in the media fueled her drug use, she said.

Kelly was usually high on “The Osbournes”
Kelly said that a lot of the screaming and fights you saw on “The Osbournes” were due to all the drugs she was on at the time and that they really heightened her emotions. She said it made her bratty and selfish.

Kelly took 100 pills a day; threw up blood
Kelly admitted that her parents did find a bag of pills that she had with 500 pills in it before she went to rehab, and explained that, “my mom would come into my room every single night and I was throwing up blood, because the Tylenol in the Vicodin was wearing away at my stomach lining.”

Kelly’s low point
She said her low point was waking up to her mom pounding on her back trying to resuscitate her because she had stopped breathing. She had peed the bed and said “At 20 years old, to wake up, by your mother trying to resuscitate you in a bed of your own piss. That is mortifying.”

Jack drank and smoked a lot of pot
Jack said he drank to go along with the crowd and that he used to limit pot-smoking to weekends, but that he was doing it more and more and had no boundaries.

Kelly told a story about how she found him throwing up on the floor and that’s when she realized he was “really f’ed up.”

Jack said he had suicidal thoughts on a daily basis before suicide attempt
After their mom Sharon was diagnosed with cancer, Jack said he struggled with depression and had suicidal thoughts “pretty much on a daily basis.”

Jack attempted suicide with booze and prescription drugs, the narrator explains, and he said “I wasn’t happy when I was drunk or high and I wasn’t happy when I was sober.”

Rehab worked for Jack, didn’t work at first for Kelly
Jack went into rehab after his suicide attempt at 17 and it’s safe to say it worked for him as he says he hasn’t had a drink since.

Kelly said that after she went into Promises rehab for the first time in 2004 she got high the day she got out and that it didn’t help her. “All I did there was buy 30 days of time and learn tricks from other addicts. And get a massage, lay by a pool… I was out of there… that night I was high.”

The narrator explains that Kelly’s third stint in rehab worked for her, and she said “It just clicked. You have to have that realization that you’re never going to win.”

Kelly and Jack’s futures
Both Kelly and Jack are living on their own now. Jack is hosting a reality show in Britain called “Adrenaline Junkies” that features people having adventures, and he said he wouldn’t be doing it if he were still drinking, and that “it’s taught me to live life to the fullest.”

Kelly is hosting “Project Catwalk” in England, which is their version of “Project Runway.”

Kelly always came off as a bit of a spoiled brat to me, and if she was taking handfuls of pills throughout the day you can see how it would radically change her personality. Both Jack and Kelly seem to have come to terms with their addictions and to be living a sober lifestyle now. I admire them for talking about it candidly and not glamorizing what they were going through.

Addiction is a lifelong struggle and maybe their story will help others who are facing similar problems realize that they’re not alone.

E! Online blog The Hum had this video of 16 year-old Jamie Lynn Spears outside a Babies R Us store on Thursday with her cousin and what must be her cousin’s baby. Jamie Lynn stopped hiding her pregnancy behind big sweatshirts and was seen wearing a short sleeve t-shirt that said “The Rumors Are True.” Her t-shirt might refer to the stories about her engagement. She also sported a marquis cut diamond engagement ring, and her cousin confirmed to US Weekly earlier in the week that Jamie Lynn and Casey, 18, are engaged.

People Magazine notes that Jamie Lenn registered for her baby shower during that outing, and that her registry lists her boyfriend and maybe-fiance, Casey Aldridge, as the co-registrant with the “event date” as July 10.

I was able to find two registries on Babies R Us under those two names with the date given on People’s website. Here’s a link to the one that People cited. The other one seems to be a fake. It’s possible that this one is also a hoax registry, it’s just the one People.com mentioned on Friday.

I’ve taken screenshots of what People claims is the legitimate registry in case that link doesn’t work. Many items have already been purchased for Jamie Lynn and Casey including Pooh receiving blankets, an ultrasound frame, and a Leap Frog learning table. Jamie Lynn and her cousin smartly registered for some batteries to power all those baby toys. Jamie Lynn even registered for a breast pump and a nursing pillow, showing that she may plan to nurse her baby.

15 year-old sensation Miley Cyrus and her dad, country singer Billy Ray, were interviewed on Access Hollywood by former “Brady Bunch” star Maureen McCormick. Billy Ray talked about how he tries to keep the paparazzi in line around his teen daughter by asking to see their faces and having chats with them. Miley also told a cute story about how she took her dad to get a little tattoo on his hand she designed and took him to a salon afterwards to get highlights in his hair. Billy Ray, 46, said it was Miley’s day when that happened and that he willingly submitted to the makeover.

On the paparazzi
Billy Ray: “When I see people taking pictures of my little girl, I usually try to get them to roll down the window and get a picture of them, because I just want to know who’s stalking my family.”

“I’ll go knock on the window and say ‘I just wanted to see your face because you’re taking pictures of my little girl’… just in case.”

Miley: “‘If I have to hunt you down and kill you,’ then he knows what they look like.’”

Miley told a story about how her dad intimidated a photographer. She said “He was like ‘Dude. Not cool’ [making mean face] The other guy was like ‘Sorry Mr. Cyrus’” [holding hands up]

15 year-old Miley is the new paparazzi target after Britney’s return to sanity. It’s nice to know that she has a protective family and that they do fun activities together. Still, it’s can be a nasty business and I hope she can get through her teen years with her childhood relatively intact. It’s got to be crazy to be swarmed by photographers like that wherever you go and it’s nice that her dad is looking out for her. Maybe a move to the country might be in order soon.

British actress Kate Beckinsale has declared that she won’t go nude in any of her film roles. A lot of people are going to hate me for saying this, but I really appreciate it when actresses say they won’t do nude scenes. I’m no prude, for me it’s more a matter of equality. The ratio of naked women to naked men onscreen must be 25 to 1 or something. Let’s at least have a little parity here. Frankly if I were a man I’d feel a little insulted: the MPAA seems to find your equipment a lot more offensive to the senses than a woman’s comparable parts. Just a hint of the manly goods sends movie ratings sky high. And I don’t mean “ratings” in the sense of reviews. Kate Beckinsale’s reasons for keeping her panties on are a lot more logical than my equality-based nonsense: she was traumatized as a young girl when her actress mother went nude and kids taunted her. So she’s promised she won’t do the same to her nine-year-old daughter.

Kate Beckinsale has vowed never to appear naked in a movie, after she was bullied at school when her actress mum stripped on TV. The episode traumatised Beckinsale - whose mother is veteran British TV star Judy Loe - and she is determined not to subject her nine-year-old daughter Lily to the same humiliation. She tells AOL Movies, “My mum was an actress, and she did a nude scene on television when I was about 9 or 10, and the crisis I had when everyone came to school the next day and told me they’d seen my mother naked just makes me kind of, you know … I’m not in a big rush to do that to my child. “She’s embarrassed enough that I’m an actress at all, without me being naked as well.”

Looking out for the mental health/social well-being of your child is a pretty good reason to keep your clothes on. Men just don’t seem to face anywhere near the same amount of pressure. I love the excuse that sometimes a role just calls for nudity, and it has to be done. Alright then, but why is it always calling just for naked women? Hmm, something to ponder of dinner tonight. Reese Witherspoon recently made the same comments as Kate, and has pledge that she’ll keep her clothes on. I totally support this move. Of course if at any point the gentlemen would like to contribute to some equality, I’ll support that too.

Remember those traveling horror stories you used to hear about right after 9/11? Like the lady who was forced to drink her own breast milk to prove there was nothing in it? Apparently weird breast-related policies are still plaguing the Transportation Security Administration. Yesterday passenger Mandi Hamlin, 37, held a press conference with attorney Gloria Allred where she said she was humiliated last month after being forced to remove her two nipple rings behind a curtain at a Lubbock, Texas airport. Hamlin had to remove one of the rings with pliers - which was excruciatingly painful – all the while being subjected to the snickers from male TSA workers. Hamlin had offered to show a female TSA worker her piercings, but the employees insisted they had to be removed.

Hamlin and her lawyer, celebrity attorney Gloria Allred, said they want a public apology from the agency, as well as a guarantee that future passengers with piercings will be treated with dignity and respect. Allred pointed out that TSA’s Web site says passengers with piercings can undergo a pat-down inspection if they do not want to take their piercings out — an option she said Hamlin was never offered. “The conduct of TSA was cruel and unnecessary,” Allred told reporters at a news conference. “Last time that I checked, a nipple was not a dangerous weapon.” She said if an apology was not forthcoming, “Mandi is going to have to consider her legal options.”

“Ms. Hamlin did not want to remove her nipple piercings,” Allred said, reading from a letter she sent TSA. “After nipple rings are inserted, the skin can often heal around the piercing and the rings can be extremely difficult and painful to remove. In addition, once removed, the pierced skin may close up almost immediately, making it difficult and painful to reinsert the piercing.”

More officers were called over, and the group grew to four male and two female TSA officers, according to Hamlin. Also, a small crowd of onlookers had started to gather. The officers insisted that Hamlin remove the nipple rings, Allred said. “She felt humiliated by the scene that the TSA officers were making,” Allred said.

The TSA is insisting their employees did everything right, but said they will change the policy so it doesn’t happen again in the future. Considering their website says passengers with body jewelry can undergo a pat down – yet Mandi Hamlin was forced to remove her rings with pliers instead – I’m not sure exactly how they can say the employees did everything right. The TSA also went out of their way to make sure they did not apologize to Hamlin, and just gave a bunch of bull “thanks for pointing that out” type comments instead.

Hamlin’s rings didn’t even set off the metal detector – but she was randomly pulled aside for additional security checks, and the hand-wand went off over her breasts. Normally the security personnel do a pretty good job, but in this case it sounds like they made a decision to humiliate this woman and not tell her about her own rights. I can’t imagine how humiliating and painful Hamlin’s experience must have been. It’s good that the TSA isn’t trying to insist that it’s a good policy, and has made it clear that they’ll change it. But they definitely owe Mandi Hamlin a very clear and remorseful apology.

Rumors are swirling once again that Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have gotten secretly married. As time goes on and their family increases exponentially, it’s hard to tell if that increases or decreases the likelihood that they’ll tie the knot. On the one hand, you’d think that having so many kids might make them yearn to cement things in a more traditional way. On the other hand, with each passing kid and each passing year that they DON’T do it, you could argue that they become firmer in their resolve to abstain from marriage. A slew of print and internet media sources are reporting that the two secretly wed in New Orleans on Saturday, despite Brad’s very public proclamation some years ago that he and Angie wouldn’t get married legally until everyone could get married legally.

Hollywood’s most powerful couple has made it official - Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are married.

According to Star magazine’s website, the pair wed on Saturday in New Orleans. The couple have been together since 2005, when they co-starred in the actioner, “Mr. and Mrs. Smith.” Angelina is pregnant with twins, and the two have four other children.

This would be Brad’s second time down the aisle, with his first to “Friends” star Jennifer Aniston ending in divorce. Angelina has been married twice previously, most recently to actor Billy Bob Thornton, and “Eli Stone” star Jonny Lee Miller in the late 1990s.

The Daily News felt confident enough in their story to boldly headline it “Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt are married.” The story was also picked up by OK!, X17, and PR Insider. If the pair have indeed married, it makes sense that they’d keep it under wraps. Angelina is said to be having a tough pregnancy this time around. She’s widely speculated to be carrying twins, which can’t be easy on her rather emaciated frame. Several media outlets are also reporting that she’s suffering from gestational diabetes, which affects about 2% of women during their pregnancies. Considering the pair’s earlier statements about marriage, coupled with Angelina’s health, it’s no surprise that they’d keep any wedding a secret as long as possible. If they did marry, congrats to them. And if not, at least we can keep on speculating.

Update by Celebitchy: People Magazine is reporting that it’s not true and that “a source close to the couple tells PEOPLE there was ‘no wedding’” and seems to say that they weren’t even in New Orleans this weekend when this was said to have taken place.
