Camy Diaz, ‘Shopped in Cosmo: “I think you get better as you age”

camy1

I told you yesterday – Cameron Diaz’s promotional campaign is gearing up for Bad Teacher, and she’s going to be on every magazine, doing every interview, and appearing on every television show for the next month. Yesterday, we saw her two covers from Elle UK, as well as some excerpts from her June Maxim cover. And now we have her cover for the June issue of Cosmopolitan. It’s very side-booby. Do you think Camy’s side-boob actually looks like that? Discuss. Here are two small excerpts from Camy’s interview:

Cameron Diaz on her life philosophy: “I think you get better as you age. You know what you want, and you become stronger mentally, emotionally, and physically…But also, things have happened recently that have pushed me to grow. My father died, and having gone through that really made me think about my life and how I want to live it.”

Drew Barrymore on her friendship with Cameron Diaz: “She’s my sister, but we bro out and have crazy adventures. I always know that she is game. Most people don’t know this, but she’s very edgy…That has been a big part of our friendship, knowing that she will throw down at any time as well as that sisterly, cozy, nurturing love that we have.” – Drew Barrymore in the June issue of Cosmopolitan

[From Cosmopolitan]

I’ve said it before, but I do think Camy changed when her father died. Ever since then, she’s seemed… sadder. More introspective. Of course, that’s what I think from the outside – maybe if I actually knew her, I would see that she’s the same old clingy bitch as before?

In another interview, Camy also talked about working with her ex, Justin Timberlake in Bad Teacher. When asked how they could work together after breaking up, Camy said: “Life is long. Why would you ever live in the past when you can live in the present, and allow the future to be bright and happy and exciting? There’s no reason. I think people’s mentality is, ‘It didn’t work out!’ But, like, what didn’t work out? What’s supposed to happen?… We break up. We move on. All I want for him is his happiness. And all he wants is my happiness. His isn’t reliant on me, and mine isn’t on him. It was at one point; we had that moment, but now… let’s make a movie. Let’s go have some fun. We’re good at being funny together. We know how to do that. That’s easy.” Meh.

That is definitely some ‘shopped side boob!..and also shopped arm, face, hands. The faux blue python tramp dress is the only real part.

  2. sapphire says:

Actually, I think the photoshopping was done to get rid of her muscle definition and smooth her face.

I”m liking her more-she has more staying power as an actress than I thought. At first she was just another blonde, interchangable starlet with a visible sternum.

  3. gloaming says:

I’ve always liked her. She seems the type of woman who’d be a great laugh to go drinking with just like Drew.

  4. WhiteNoise says:

I really like Camy, no bullshit, just enjoys her life and gets on with things, none of that whining about press intrusion or starry shit about how difficult it is to be so rich and famous etc.

Also, isn’t it a bit pointless at this stage to comment on photoshopping since every single woman (even those who deny it) is photoshopped/airbrushed on every magazine cover and in every magazine spread?

  5. Jover says:

Is there any chance we will ever see great fashion photography – and maybe some models – on the covers of these mags, or have they all become water carriers for every pedestrian celebutard having a product to push/sell?

  6. The_blonde_one says:

I like her even with her poor choices in penis. She seems like shed be a really good female friend, supportive , nonjugemental and fun

  7. Lisa Turtle says:

No the entire photograph was taken from a series of pictures Cameron did about 2-3 years ago right after her break up from Justin. (She had dark hair then)

She was wearing a white dress. They used the body from those photographs and then just added her head on top. I think they were in W. I’m not sure.

  8. Emma says:

I love her. Not so much her acting, but her personality is awesome. She says the funniest things. I get a totally different vibe from her too; I don’t get the clingy, bitchy, Jessica Biel vibe from her at all. I kind of just want to hang out with her and Drew Barrymore.

  9. Becky66 says:

I really like Cameron and her comments on aging were great, I also believe you get better with age (I’m 44 and know myself way better than I did at 24!) . I however do not like Cosmo anymore, it used to be a semi racy mag in the 80’s but still had good non sexual articles, now I’ve dubbed it “The skank’s guide to life” as every other article is about the best blowjob or what position will make him explode….not that that is terribly bad for 20 somethings BUT loads of teens buy this magazine and hells bells do they really need this kind of advice? When I was a teen we had to figure it out for ourselves! ;0)

  10. Becky66 says:

Forgot to add love her bracelets!!!

  11. KateNonymous says:

The only positive thing I can say is that I dislike her less than Natalie Portman. Neither one can really present themselves as actually intelligent, but at least Cameron has the savvy to shoot for “sporty” instead of “smart.”

Seriously, every time I see her in an interview (not reading one, which can be edited), she’s almost incoherent. Not a fan.

  12. Quest says:

I like her personality – she is 50/50 in my book, not so much her choices in dong and that cover is photoshopped like hell.

I do agree that some things like fine wines do get better with age, some people mature and get better while others i.e. Linocent – not so much.

  13. Marjalane says:

Please. She’s full of shit. First the bit about how marriage is passe, and she’s this totally independent woman- She’s been attached at the hip to every man she’s ever dated! She trails along behind Arod just waiting for the chance to wipe his butt. She threw a huge hissy fit IN PUBLIC when Timberlake started dating Jessica Biel. If Arod asked her to marry him, she’d burn rubber all the way to Filene’s basement.

As for aging gracefully, (ahem) Yeah, I agree, we all get smarter, we become more introspective, but I’ll give a day’s pay to Jesse James if Cami doesn’t do EVERYTHING in her power, (and pocketbook) to stay as young as possible. She’s already a few years older than ARod, and it shows.

Drives me nuts when celebs are so blatently disingenuous in interviews.

  14. jc126 says:

You MAY get smarter and stronger with age, if you actively seek to do so. It’s easy to stagnate if you are a “potted plant” type of personality, or are thwarted by your life circumstances (lack of money/time). Or, if your life is hellish – such as a bad marriage you feel trapped to leave – you will get weaker with age.

  15. Sumodo1 says:

I don’t care that Cam is aging–so am I. So are we all. Just remember, she’s funny, smart and athletic. That takes you further than looks alone.

  16. kgq says:

i like her and her world/loveviews

  17. mln76 says:

I like Cammy I do and I agree on the whole as you age you know yourself better thing- but I don’t think she’s as together as she pretends. Lainey had an interesting blurb on her yesterday recounting events that were pretty well documented in the tabs. I think it’s great that her and JT buried the hatchet but in many ways AROD is a thousand times worse than JT and he’s old enough that he’s not going to slow down his womanizing.

  18. whitedaisy says:

say something nice, say something nice…..

She sure knows how to work out!

If you ever watch her interviews on Conan or Dave Letterman, you can see that she cannot string together two sentences. Routinely sharing too much information does not make someone deep, intelligent or admirable.

  19. Kimbob says:

Maybe she is full of shit, but you know what? I like what she has to say about aging, self-esteem, positivity, etc. Do I believe she’s as “together” as she states? No, but may I ask, who the hell is?

So what she really puts everything she has in her relationships…people criticize her for being “clingy,” but I’d rather think she puts her best foot forward, and really LOVES w/abandonment…what is wrong w/that? What is wrong w/her positivity and introspection? Are we to expect her to give interviews where she’s negative and doom and gloom…beating up on herself? I just don’t get the criticism on her. It’s not like she’s all stuck on herself…to me she actually comes across as trying her best to be a real and authentic person.

Maybe I’m taking it too personally, but my outlook on life is very much along the same lines. She lives life to the fullest…gives all her endeavors her utmost efforts and gusto (whether it’s love or surfing, as she’s broken her nose more than once, I believe surfing), if her relationships don’t work out, she’s positive and upbeat and lives life looking forward w/hope and energy. I like her outlook, really.

  20. wtf? says:

yes i would get better with age if i had every image of myself photoshopped to death, millions in the bank and the brain of a turnip…

she needs more work done on the inside imo

  21. lucy2 says:

I like her attitude, but as mln76 said, I don’t know if she really practices what she preaches. I am of course basing that solely on who she chooses to date, so who knows.

  22. Heatherrr says:

Although I loathe Cosmo I am happy they put her on the cover. Who can hate on this girl? She is refreshing! And we ALL say things to make us sound put together, more so than we are… nothing wrong there. She is just a cool chick.

  23. Nikki says:

@marjalane: I think you said it all. Can’t stand her, I think she’s full of it. Plus she’s a fugly she-man.

  24. Janna says:

Oh, Cammy, you are so not better than you were in that movie The Sweetest Thing, with Christina Applegate and Selma Blair. You were young and so so so adorable. You were captivating, so pretty. Now, not so much ………..

  25. Becky says:

@Becky66….LMAO re: calling Cosmo “the skank’s guide to life.” Too true!

As for Cameron, I can’t help but like her even though she’s a mediocre actress and she’s been in some seriously crappy movies. I think she’s aware that she’s not the best actress out there-she doesn’t seem to take herself too seriously. I don’t have much of an opinion about the relationship with Arod. Yeah, he appears to be a narcissistic dick but she seems to be having a good time with him. She’s a big girl-I’m sure she heard about all of his previous relationships, etc. and knew on some level what she was getting into.

  26. Hakura says:

@Becky66“I however do not like Cosmo anymore, it used to be a semi racy mag in the 80’s but still had good non sexual articles, now I’ve dubbed it “The skank’s guide to life” as every other article is about the best blowjob or what position will make him explode….not that that is terribly bad for 20 somethings BUT loads of teens buy this magazine and hells bells do they really need this kind of advice?”

God, you said it! These are my thoughts exactly… I was a bit taken aback reading advice columns that advise you that it’s okay to just ‘hook up’ with some random guy for a one night thing, or saying 5 dates is a reasonable amount of time to date before you sleep with someone… I mean, really?

It’s all so casual about sex, there’s no romance anymore. They also don’t focus on fashions that us ‘normal, average income’ folks can appreciate, most of the time. That’s not to say I don’t enjoy *anything* they do, but it’s becoming less & less appealing to me.

I was really surprised recently… I ended up buying a copy of Seventeen magazine, just for the hell of it (even though I’m 25)… & I loved it. It was great. It dealt with sexual/adult issues, but in a much more classy way… & actually had stories about other things, some celebrities, & tons of fashions that are affordable & cute.

  27. LadyChild says:

I don’t get the hype over this woman. She looks bad now. She’s lost too much weight and it shows horribly on her face.

  28. Kloops says:

I kinda like her. I think she’s dumb as a doorknob, and tries too hard with that ‘one of the boys’ thing, but I still find her quite charming. And although she has undoubtedly had minor work, it’s subtle and she’s not botoxed within an inch of her life. At least that’s the way it appears. Other photos may cause me to change my mind.

And the cover is totally photoshopped but haven’t we all raised the white flag on that one? If, at the end of the day, the cover subject leaves the studio looking more human than freakish I’ll overlook the photoshopping even though I really don’t like it and would like to see it toned down.

  29. Newbie says:

Um. If that top photo was how she actually looked in reality, then yes, I’d have to say that she’s getting better (looking) with age. To be fair, I didn’t even read the interview. Perhaps she’s talking about personal depth, discovery and growth. But on a superficial level…no. And that cover is sooooooo ‘shopped its not even funny.

  30. Kena Looi says:

You actually make it seem so easy with your presentation but I find this matter to be actually something that I think I would never understandIt seems too complex and extremely broad for meI am looking forward for your next post, I’ll try to get the hang of it!
