Olivia Wilde in black Tom Ford in Berlin: lovely, classy or totally boring?

wenn9497220

I’m quite content to blame Olivia Wilde for the respective box office failures/disappointments of The Change-Up and Cowboys & Aliens. Sure, there are lots of people you could blame, but what do those two movies have in common? Bangs-Trauma Cockburn. Still, Olivia continues to book movie after movie for whatever reason, so there’s going to be at least a three-year lag before her movie career goes belly-up when people realize that she’s like the Typhoid Mary of box office disappointments. She’s even rumored to be taking over the Linda Lovelace role in some version of Lovelace’s life story (no word on whether it’s the same project that Linnocent was involved with).

Anyway, these are new photos of Olivia at the Berlin premiere of Cowboys & Aliens. I guess Olivia, Daniel Craig and Harrison Ford are going to be doing a lot of press in Europe, and probably Asia too, just so this damn film breaks even. Instead of trying to sex it up and sell it that way, Olivia looks like the odd man out – even Daniel seems to be holding her at a distance, like he knows she’s bad news. Olivia’s dress is Tom Ford, and it’s… kind of boring.

Meanwhile, Daniel seems to be clutching Harrison Ford lovingly. And Harrison looks like he doesn’t give a good goddamn about any of this. What’s up with Harrison’s hair, by the way? It looks like a piece from some angles.

I’m going to have to disagree with you on this, Kaiser; I think this is GOOOORRRGEOOUUUSSSSS. I may in fact be having one of my “I would stab my grandmother in the face for this [insert item of clothing]” moments.

  2. Annaloo says:

Why can’t we blame Harrison Ford? Why do we have to blame the girl?

  3. Franny says:

I think she looks great. Very polished.

  4. You don't say says:

Excpet for the Bond movies, Craig has never had a hit either. Maybe that should be evaluated. Ford has not had a hit in awhile, but he did have quite a few non Star Wars, Indiana Jones hits.

Dress fits well, but has an odd length. I still hate those kind of shoes with thick internal platforms.

  5. Ruth says:

Lol she gets movies cuz shes hot. And have you seen how awful cowboys vs aliens is? its not her, its the movie. And yeah she looks like Carla Bruni here but there are a lot worse actresses/dresses out there.

  6. tapioca says:

Olivia looks lovely, Harrison’s hair is too short and Cowboys & Aliens looks pretty cool! I think maybe the film’s potential audience has aliens/explosions/CGI-fatigue after Thor, Transformers, Green Lantern, etc…

As for The Change-Up, you just know that Li-Lo will be sitting at home telling herself that since Freaky Friday did so much better at the BO she’s still the one bone fide STAR that can open a body-switch comedy! And wondering where she put that crackpipe…

  7. TXCinderella says:

Love the dress, and her hair and makeup looks good. She could have added a vintage pin or bracelet to give the outfit some flair.

  8. The Truth Fairy says:

All I see when I look at Olivia is JAW!

  9. Angie says:

Love it! Totally classy and gorgeous.

  10. lisa says:

I don’t think it is fair to blame her. Harrison and Daniel have bigger names. Why are they not the blame. Both have had BO failures. Daniel has yet to have a big BO hit outside Bond. He has never had a film do well that he is the Lead name other than the James Bond movies. Harrison has had BO bombs too of late. His last 6 movies outside Indiana Jones have been Bombs. Ryan Reynolds is coming off a not so great BO in The Green Lantern. And as cute as Jason Bateman is he too can not carry a film on his own

so maybe Olivia is not the problem. Maybe she should be more selective about her Male co-stars.

  11. Sumodo1 says:

    Audrey Hepburn she is not!

  12. Whatamess! says:

    Worst cast ever!

  13. gee says:

I think she looks fantastic, and I don’t usually like how she looks at all.

  14. Turtle Dove says:

Great dress… for October, November, but it makes her calves look like tree trunks; yet, nothing can eclipse the size of that mandible.

  15. Green_Eyes says:

Why are Harrison and Craig dressed as the Boppsy Twins? That is stranger to me than Oliva’s dress…

  16. mln76 says:

I don’t think Wilde is to blame(she is useless though) because in cases like this it’s all about the leading man. Craig is a great James Bond and a fine piece o’ man-meat but he can’t sell a movie. His interviews are almost adversarial. He’s no Harrison Ford, he’s a good actor who is better off doing darker more independent fare than stepping into commercial movies he isn’t willing to ‘sell’.

  17. serena says:

I’m starting to hate her face and expressions..ugh

  18. Trustivia says:

Man, do I NOT like her. She is so irritating and bland and meh and stupid to me. Ugh.

  19. Lisa says:

She is gorgeous! I watched the Change-up this weekend and I had never seen an Olivia Wilde movie…she totally won me over.

  20. Pyewacket says:

I don’t know. Craig has had several movies that have failed, and Ford too. Given my intense dislike of Craig, I cannot imagine anyone paying to see him in anything.

  21. dread pirate cuervo says:

@Sumodo1, that’s exactly what I thought! Love the dress & shoes; hate her face.

  22. Micah says:

Great dress….but I hate the pose.

What is it with starlets and this “pigeon toed pose” , do they really believe this is a charming way to pose?!

    it grates on my nerves!

Is it impossible for these girls to stand straight with a bit of confidence, and NOT strike this banal juvenile
    pose, again and again.

  23. Hibiscus says:

Funny, Harrison and Craig look about the same age even though Harrison is a generation older.

Graig is some haggard looking dude…

    – Yeah, Cowboys & Aliens seems to be doing fine at the box-office but the awful Smurfs-movie did just as well.

Another example that goes to show that actors don’t open movies but franchises, brands, genres, stories, pre-existing fan-bases…
Hence all the remakes and sequels.

    Star-value is vastly overrated.

  24. Truthful says:

The jawline of a truck driver, geesh.

not my idea of gorgeous or hot.

    to each his own.

  25. itstrue says:

I have always been reminded of Dobby from Harry Potter when I see Craig.

  26. Irene says:

This dress is boring on her because its her not because of the dress. Does that make sense?I actually dont blame Wilde (though she is DULL and needs to stop getting so many roles). Blame Daniel Craig for being so cranky and not doing the promotion the way a real movie star does it. He doesn’t have hits outside of Bond so I dont get why people are surprised by this flopping.

  27. viven says:

Cowboy’s and Aliens and The Change Up both had major movie stars carrying the films who were supposed to pull in viewers but didn’t, that’s hardly Olivia’s fault. The reason I didn’t go see either of them was because they looked awful.

  28. lem says:

she needs to STOP with these dresses… the shoulders are awful and somehow they don’t flatter her at all.

  29. anti says:

love the dress… she looks tired.

  30. Denise says:

Just can’t like this woman; but I am resigned to the fact that she is here to stay for a couple of years at least. Her main talent is that she has some kind of nudity in each film. She dresses kind of 70s retro in everyday life, so maybe the Lovelace role may work for her. What i want to know is who is working so hard to make her happen; she has a he’ll of a PR team or good friends in high places. I want that mystery solved.

  31. usagichan says:

Please add Tron to that list. The curse of Olivia Wilde is alive and well.

  32. Ashley says:

It’s the exact same as the head-to-toe red outfit she wore a little while back, only in black.

In regards to hair, I like bangs, I really do. I have them myself, and I tend to find them more flattering than not. However, she just looks terrible with bangs. I don’t know if it’s their length or cut (or even her face shape), but they do not work. Although they do look better here than usual. Most of the time they’re limp, stringy, and even greasy looking.

  33. crazydaisy says:

    Classy.

That is one gorgeous woman. Scary beautiful – model perfect. What is your strange distorted beef with her, people? She’s just a young knockout.

  34. skeptical says:

why is it that when a movie doesn’t do well it’s the poor actress who gets blamed? Didn’t the guys here have bigger roles anyway? I don’t even remember seeing Wilde in the previews.. just old old Bond dude with this thing on his wrist.
    How is it her fault?
    Seems very sexist.

  35. Venefica Delirium says:

I see the sexist cards are flying.

Personally, I don’t give a damn about movies in general. I like them to pass the time, but I hate going to the movies, never understood it as a social activity, and I never listen to critics. I watch movies to be amused, not to impress people.

That being said, I’ve never seen Olivia Wilde act so I don’t know if she sucks.

While I like that she doesn’t look like trash and for the most part looks tasteful and natural, I don’t think that she’s beautiful. She can cut glass with that jaw. I’ll still take a busload of Olivia Wilde over one Megan Fox.

  36. Mila says:

    She looks very elegant.

  37. Jo 'Mama' Besser says:

    Say yes to the dress.
